wait. wait. wait. ive been staring at ur latest comic for awhile now and i think i've noticed something about the colors? which are amazing, first of all- just gotta get that out there cuz i adore that soft pink and deep green combo

but i just realized that throughout most of the comic u use both in equal parts it seems. to separate bg + fg and such, to highlight characters/objects, etc.

but then when vash gets back to their room, all the walls are that dark green. and, bit by bit, the pink totally falls off. by the end, it's nothing but constant dark green as vash starts to cry

but then wolfwood slams in and he's backed by that soft pink. and suddenly the comic is nothing BUT pink. soft lines and whites and gentle pink tones EVERYWHERE to just. SO tastefully highlight the little details.

LIKE. WAS THIS INTENTIONAL?! i almost wanna guess that it wasn't since all those green panels w vash crying are all closeups focused on his expression so it makes sense to just put the simple green behind it and all attention on him so the pink just isn't Needed

BUT AT THE SAME TIME THE EFFECT IS SO MASTERFUL THAT I WANNA BELIEVE IT WAS ABSOLUTELY INTENTIONAL

HEHE..... first of all, thank you for looking at my comic so closely, THAT'S LIKE... REALLY SWEET and a huge compliment to hear, thank u thank u

and yes, it was intentional, especially more towards the end!!! in general, the colors are meant to serve as a mood indicator, so a balance of them in a scene would just mean a neutral "okay-ness" and have a functional serve to separate background / foreground / subject matter... deep green signifies introspection or incoming sadness (especially on pg5 when vash cries), and pink signifies wolfwood, which, not an emotion but he is happiness, someone that helps vash lose his doubts in a matter of seconds -- which is why those last few pages are just pink white and lines, and the panels are gone for the majority of it. i wanted to show their unity and togetherness!

while vash still has his issues of just Not saying anything about his loneliness, his feelings are alleviated temporarily with wolfwood's presence and he's just grateful that his paranoia didn't become true, and that wolfwood is genuine, true to his word, when he means he'll be following vash/staying with him. even though it's mission-bound, vash would probably still feel guiltily comforted by that fact.

I'M GLAD IT WAS PARTICULARLY EFFECTIVE IN THIS COMIC because i definitely could've pushed it more... i figured it was a minor thing that not a lot of ppl would care for, but more ppl enjoyed it and noticed the colors than i thought, so i'm glad it worked out!!!

#asks #thank you for sending this!!!#and for being so observant and putting it into words -- its really sweet!!!! hehe #ok this bit here is a bit off topic but. i forgot to mention in my original tags. very minor hc but on #p4 when i drew their beds -- ww bed is the left one vash is the right one and his blankets are all folded #bc i feel like vash would develop habits of being able to leave somewhere quickly + abruptly. so he cleans up after himself #everytime he wakes up and has to leave for the day. i feel like he's ran into enough trouble that he's grown accustom to making #sure he's ready to dip whenever necessary. and id imagine he'd leave payment if he books a room for more than a night so when he has #to leave suddenly - the room owners get their pay still. just preparing stuff in advance to not make trouble for the kind ppl #that houses him. idk its a small thing! i just recall those times in the manga where after accidentally destroying a part of the town #vash makes sure to join the clean up crew and help build things up lmfao he takes responsibility. its cute #ww sees him do this for the first time once and goes “that's stupid. we're not going anywhere and we're staying for the 2 nights”#and then he'd realize soon enough that they do have to prepare to book it at any random point of the day if vash gets caught up in trouble #regardless he doesn't fold it all up like vash does since its not habitual to him and in a way hes testing vash to NOT run off and do smth #thatll get him in trouble during the day. rare hopefulness. when they start sharing beds wolfwood doesn't let him fold up the sheets #very minor thing hc sorry for rambling in This space hub all of a sudden.#in the comic also vash gets pink bg panels every time he calls out to wolfwood. happy happy #it's really not a long enough comic to push those aspects... but im glad it was noticed at all -- but ok ok im done done

Okay, I may have already sent a bunch of asks and stuff like that but...

I wanna talk about how I discovered Boss in the first place, and why he's my favorite.

It was 2021, a few hours after I caught a Guzzlord in the Max Lair (Crown Tundra, Pokémon Sword).

Out of curiosity, I was like "hm, I kinda wanna make a Guzzlord character. Let's look for inspiration!!"

It was a trial and error type situation, with most people's Guzzlord OCs being very uhh... disturbing .

(because some people are fetish driven creeps)

Then BOOM, Boss appeared, preferably this drawing of him:

And I was like "WOW!! That's a really cool OC!!!"

I never made a Guzzlord character after that, because I didn't want to copy yours.

buuut I got just a little bit inspired and created my beloved non-Pokemon character Eli, who is one of the characters for a story I'm currently working on

I think I was mainly inspired by the dragon theme and the fur-lined jacket

I've been drawing him for almost 3 years, so...

Is it okay if I say thanks??

For creating Boss and inspiring me to make a character I love???

Because I honestly wanna thank you, like a lot.

And also I enjoy learning more about Boss, since I was very interested in learning about him when I first saw the drawing, so I wanna thank you for being open to talking about him :]

IM !! UNDERSTANDING YOU SENT THIS A FEW DAYS AGO!! I've been trying to respond to this in a way that isn't JUST me rambling /complimentary BUT !! MY WORD!!!

I appreciate you sharing all of this and it really really touches my heart!!! The fact that I can create characters and art that inspire people to also create their own original works and characters is something I've always wanted to embody with my work !! Hearing about all of this is so so very sweet!!! Remember that even with the inspiration my work may have given that YOU'RE a big person to thank all the same!! without you Eli certainly would never have existed!! ( and what a slightly darker world we'd be in without the light of another amazing character out there!!!! )

Thank you so much !! and the kind words and implications that my design for Boss stood out to you so much even compared to some of the other baller Guzzlord ocs I've seen out there!! ( side-stepping any conversation on the nature of nsfw designs as I usually avoid such topics here on my blog - but here's to hoping public SFW searches can one day be a little more safe-guarded from NSFW content if that's how you came across them! it can be shocking in SFW spaces! )

As a final!!! I absolutely loved seeing Eli and sort of meeting him!!! I hope that passion definitely continues on for you! and you can NEVER go wrong with fun themes and a fur jacket (❁´◡`❁) !! ( oh so personally guilty of giving many ocs fur jackets )

what is your favorite thing about charles and your favorite thing about erik? separately, as in what you like most about their characters :]

a devious question this one is, my friend!!! it's hard enough for me to explain my thoughts cohesively, but having to pick ONE thing i particularly love is difficult. with characters like charles and erik, theres been so much done with their characters over the decades and so they have so many components to them that make them so interesting and fun to observe. BUT I TRY FOR YOU TODAY. under the cut i kinda ramble and the size of this text box makin me anxious

i think if i were to be simple and broad, what i enjoy most about charles is his determination to help others, even if he isn't really thanked and/or if people don't even like him. ofc, this isn't to say he hasn't done wrong- to be honest, the fact he does wrong/questionable things at times is another aspect of him i really enjoy, maybe because- broadly speaking- he's meant to be altruistic (intent vs outcome and all that). i don't know if that's super exciting to most people, but it is for me

as for erik, my reason for liking him is easier to explain tbh. To Be Simple And Broad, his progression from villain to antihero over the decades has been fun to observe (as much as i have so far anyhow) and analyze. i think to be a bit more specific, him using his rage and pain as justifications for his villainous actions is definitely what compels me the most: hurt people hurt and the sort, an idea i've always found interesting (something something vicious cycles and the like). yet now, he recognizes this wasn't really. A Just Thing To Do and is beginning to change that, which i enjoy

The way this man looked was just unfair. His build truly seemed to be like one of a kind. No matter how hard you tried, it was never possible to hide the way you would look at him. His muscles, seemingly crafted by whatever kind of power the universe had, were all your gaze could linger on.

And he knew.

He would notice.

He would notice whenever your eyes stayed on him for a second longer than they were supposed to. He would notice the way you would immediately look away once he turned to you. And he would notice the way you would squirm. He knew all of it.

It just was more fun to allow you to.

Catching a glimpse of him after a mission was surely a sight for sore eyes. His muscles pumped up from the physical aspect of it as well as his sweat making them glisten in any sort of lighting.

Yes, that was your favourite.

“Like what you see, princess?” He asked.

Not noticing that you were staring for too long, as always, you gulped once, blinking a few times too many and too fast to seem natural. “Yea- I- just lost in thought.”

Logan playfully huffed at your response before leaning his hip against the counter you were seated on, taking a sip from his beer bottle. He had a cocky grin on his face, being sure of the effect he had on you.

Gosh, even just by lifting his arm to bring the liquid to his mouth his muscles would tense. Perhaps he was doing that on purpose but right now it did not matter. He looked good and he damn right knew it.

“Logan?”

“Mhm.”

“Can I ask you something?”

“Sure.”

You looked down at your feet once, letting them dangle in the air. After fidgeting with your fingers for just a split second you looked back up, meeting his eyes right away. Another beat of silence occurred before you spoke up. “Can I- uh- I really want to touch you.”

Locked cocked a brow at your sentence, yet before he could react you interrupted him immediately.

“No! Not like that! I mean- you’re just super muscly and I- I was just wondering how they feel and I kind of really want touch them just to know.” You rambled, not realizing how fast your speech was.

Not sure how to react, Logan just kept his eyebrow up, suppressing the little smile that was forming on his face as your talking sped up. It was adorable to him as much as it was funny.

And you were not sure whether that was a good thing or a bad thing.

As your fingers roamed over his muscle, you could not help but let out a silent giggle, mumbling a quick ‘sorry’ right after you did.

Logan chuckled at that, raising both his eyebrows after a few second. “You done?”

“Not really…”

Ok, this has to be Neighbor Steve.

After Steve caught you ogling him during the heatwave, the tone of your conversations when you run into him in your building has gotten decidedly flirtier. But for whatever reason, that's where it's stopped. As much as you've tried to send signals that you are very open to more, he's never taken you up on it. Which is fine. It's fine. Totally fine. You are very cool with it. The thought of it definitely doesn't make you shrivel up inside. You are so cool.

All of that is the furthest thing from your mind right now, though, as you and your dog run through the rain. It'd been such a nice day, but as you hit the halfway point of your usual longer route, the sky unexpectedly opened up and you and your poor dog were hit by an absolute downpour. Now, finally home, you're both completely soaked and desperate to get inside and dry.

After some fumbling, you get the door to your building unlocked and opened. Just as you're about to get inside and let the door close behind you, you hear your name ring out. You turn around to see Steve hurrying up the path. "Hold the door!" he yells.

You freeze, doing as he asked. Holy shit. He's just as soaked as you, but while you're sure you look like a drowned rat, he very much does not. He– Well. He– He's wearing that damned white t-shirt again. Except it's not white now, it's translucent. You can see everything – that tattoo you spotted before, and a few more to go with it, an incredible set of abs, nipples. Holy shit.

He quickly ushers you inside, thank god, because you can't move on your own, your eyes still stuck to his chest. "Fuck, that came out of nowhere, huh?" he chuckles.

The moment you're out of the rain, your dog proceeds to do her best to shake herself dry, as if the three of you weren't already dripping all over the entryway. "Oh, shit," you mumble, reaching for her without really knowing what to do.

Steve just laughs. And then does it himself, shaking out his golden locks. Part of his hair flops down over his forehead, and you do your best to hold in your gasp. Really it's just so unfair that he could get caught in a rainstorm and come out looking like that. What the actual fuck? you think to yourself.

Except, judging by the way his head whips around to look at you, maybe you didn't think it. Maybe it was more out loud than you'd meant. Oh god. You immediately start babbling, which is unfortunately just as uncontrollable as the initial slip-up you're trying to make up for. "Oh, god, I'm so sorry. I just– I mean– Look at you!" You throw a wild gesture at him as he just stares at you with his mouth open, trying to take in your ramble. "It's cats and dogs out there and you look like that?? While I–" another wild gesture, at yourself this time. "I just– How is it fair that you're so beautiful??"

"You think I'm beautiful?" he finally manages to interject.

"Huh?" And that's when your brain finally catches up. Oh dear god. What is wrong with you?? You cautiously glance at him to find him staring at you, not upset, but like he's trying to figure you out. Fuck it, you suddenly think. You've already embarrassed yourself. You have nothing left to lose. "You wanna get dinner with me sometime?"

You swear that the smile that blooms on Steve's face is bright and warm enough to dry you both off. "I was starting to worry I was reading your signals wrong. Yeah. Yeah, I'd love to."

Your answering smile is strong enough to push all the clouds away.

Satoru was sitting on the pavement in front of your house.

How long had he been there, waiting for you to come back out ?

Going over everything you said, everything he didn’t, everything he wished he did.

Replaying the "what ifs" over and over, his head in his hands, fingers entangled in the white strands of his hair.

You told him you loved him for the first time and he froze completely.

You must hate him now, he’s sure of it, how could you not when you bared yourself in front of him and he froze. He hates himself too. Maybe it’s for the best, you walking away now, before he can hurt you any more, before you hurt him.

It’s raining hard, he notices, he’s not sure when it started though, it must have been a while ago, because he’s soaked to the bones. But it’s far down the list of his priorities at the moment.

Satoru doesn’t hear the door opening, or the footsteps getting closer, doesn’t hear you call out his name. Everything drowned by the sound of the rain, by his own thoughts. He flinches when you place your hand on his shoulder.

“Satoru? What are you still doing here? You’re drenched…”

He’s staring at the ground, barely acknowledging your presence.

“Come on, let’s go inside.” You reach for his hand to pull him inside, but he won’t budge. His skin is ice cold. He turns to look at you, eyes filled with tears, and your heart sinks into your chest. He opens his mouth to speak but the words refuse to come out. He looks down, defeated, as he gets up to follow you inside.

He makes a few steps before stopping, his hold on your hand tightening.

“I’m sorry,” he mutters, “I’m sorry I couldn’t say I l-” he chokes up, still unable say it.

You don’t turn around, not sure if you can stop yourself from crying if you look at him right now.

“I know, I’m sorry too.”

The sky is darkening, tiny droplets are starting to fall, you’re both laughing as you run hand in hand to your house. You spent the day together at an amusement park, stuffing your faces with sweets.

He stops a few feet from your door, circling his arms around your waist.

“Toru, what are you doing? We’re gonna be wet” you don’t try to get out of his grasp, instead walking closer to him as you chuckle, and he smiles fondly at you.

“It’s just a little water.”

“True...” you reply, wrapping your arms around his neck and tiptoeing to give him a peck on the lips.

He shakes his head no, grinning, “Not good enough, try again”

So you do, who are you to refuse your boyfriend a proper kiss?

As you pull away, you decide you’re ready to tell him what’s been on your mind for weeks. You take a deep breath.

“Toru?” he hums to let you know he’s listening, “I love you”

You wait for him to say something, anything, not necessarily to say it back, but at least to acknowledge it. Instead he freezes, like a deer caught in headlights.

Your arms drop by your side. “Toru?”

“I just...” he starts rambling, “I’m sorry, I don’t-”

You cut him off, you don’t mean too but you’re raising your voice now. “You don’t? Fine, forget I said anything Satoru.” You walk away, almost running, trying your best to hide the tears forming in your eyes, but the cracks in your voice betrayed you already. All he can do is watch you leave.

You’re both inside, in silence. You try not to think about what just happened, so you make him a cup of tea to warm him up, and give him a towel.

“I put sugar in it, just how you like it.” You're uncomfortable, not knowing how to act around him anymore.

The air is thick, you’re having trouble breathing so close to him.

“Listen I-”

“You don’t have to say anything Satoru, it’s ok-”

“Please let me speak”, he cuts you off as he looks up from his cup, his eyes are pleading, still red and puffy from crying. Caught off guard, you simply nod and sit down as far away from him as possible.

“Earlier when you told me… that, I wasn’t expecting it, it left me speechless. But I didn’t mean that I don’t care about you, because I do, you’re the most important person to me, I need you to know that.” His voice is hoarse, he looks so desperate, a tear rolling down his cheek. You want to wipe it, to comfort him more than anything, but you stop yourself.

“You can’t even say it out loud?” You can guess why it’s so hard for him, the last time he loved someone it ended terribly, still your heart aches, and you find yourself wishing he would just leave.

“I’m sorry, I wish I could... but the words get stuck.”

“Do you think you’ll ever be able to say it?” Your voice shakes.

“I don’t know. I think so?” He offers you a timid, hesitant smile.

He reaches out towards your hand, holding it like it’s made of porcelain, “I’m so scared of losing you.”

Satoru is your only weakness. You can’t stand seeing him so vulnerable. It’s impossible not to cave in.

So you do. You let him hold you, caging you in his arms, his face hidden in the crook of your neck.

He takes a deep breath in. “Did you just sniff me?” You chuckled.

You feel him smile against your skin, relieved to hear you stopped crying.

“Maybe.”

“Weirdo.” you whisper.

The topic is still hanging over your heads. You’ll most likely have this conversation again, soon, when you’re both strong enough to stomach it. But in this instant, you can feel each other’s heartbeats, your tears are drying and as the rain stops, everything is fine.
