Still thinking about Louis going to the barricade and fans being oh-so-gentle with him. One of the things that I find so interesting about this moment is that the predominant view of young female fanbases is that they are an uncontrollable crazy mob. And Louis has certainly had lots of experiences in his life that could reinforce that view, but it really seems it hasn’t for him. He trusts that he can remind his fans to be gentle with his broken arm, and that they will honor that trust and actually be careful. What gets me is that it’s true, fans DID listen to him, they WERE gentle and chill in a situation that is pretty intense. As someone in the fandom it can be easy sometimes to see all the negative sides of fandom. But sometimes young women need to be told they are alright, actually they are brilliant.

I’m still so fascinated by the relationship between Louis and fans. I think there’s a lot going on between fans intensely identifying with him, largely being queer women, thinking he’s gay, and Louis emphasizing the connection he has with fans. It’s all a very potent mix.

I don't really have an opinion - except that whatever the truth is it seems to me a very odd thing to do. Like with most things I'm like - they have to live their life and the only way to survive the weirdness of fandom would be to actively ignore whatever it was fans were giving meaning to this week. (Once fandom have claimed 1/3 of the colour spectrum is deeply significant there's no chance of avoiding what is deeply significant).

But the word 'Larry' - singing the word 'Larry' at gig after gig. That's wild.

We've no idea why Louis chose that song. We do know that he really liked Catfish and the Bottlemen - it could have been about the sound he wanted to make. But whatever the reason - he was willing to put up with the fandom response - which is interesting in itself.

I can totally see him fronting the "I don't believe in labels" argument but then when Daniel calls him a lesbian he's like "Well, now, that's not accurate."

Spoiler alert for the book but it's so crazy to me that Louis stayed with Armand after Armand straight up murdered his daughter. Like you murdered Lestat for way less but when it comes to Armand's part in Claudia's death you were just like shit happens, it's done. Like dude, you were so enraged that you set the whole theater on fire with all the vampires trapped inside for revenge. Now you're okay with the guy who masterminded the plan?

Also like Armand is all it's so fucked up what they did to her man and Louis points out that Armand was their leader and let it happen and Armand doesn't even deny it. 🤣

Felt that. Its the worst part of this fandom because it's very clear that Louis does not want to be out.

I feel it's kinda complicated, like Louis maybe doesn't want to be a flag-waver, maybe doesn't want EVERYONE invasively in his sexual business, and that's totally fine! He's allowed to live his life and express what he wants to express to whom he wants to express it! But yeah, it's a real self-own when you see people DESPERATE to out him because they want to be right about who he's fucking, and then once every two or so days, they'll reblog the obligatory ye olde variation on "This blog is a safe space for anyone who isn't ready to be out yet" (paraphrasing, but you get me, like, no, you're literally NOT a safe space lmao)
