Hmmm just gonna spit this headcanon out in text post form since A. I don't think I could exposit it well enough in image form and B. It's not actually textually/thematically substantiated and I don't like actually staking my stuff on just vibes alone*

But anyway. I'd say it's pretty evident that all the islanders forgot their names, right? King obviously. Because why the hell else would he do that, but also Siffrin No Middle Names No Last Name.

They're 'pretty sure' they've 'always' been 'Just Siffrin' 'as long as they can remember'. It's a pretty cruel twist of the knife to say that they don't even get to keep their birth name as a memento, which is why I'm saying as such.

My utterly unsubstantiated claim is I think it'd be cute to say that Sisyphus *is* the name Siffrin initially picked, assuming the myth of King Sisyphus is recontextualised as idk, just a play or something in the setting. But I like the idea of Siffrin going 'oh shit 🫵 he's just like me fr' at a tortured fictional character long before the irony kicks in.

As for how Sisyphus -> Siffrin. I think that chronic mumbler and emotional doormat Sif just did not correct people who misheard the name during their time travelling, and went through enough places with incompatible phonologies (pronounceable sounds in the language) without ever really writing it down that it just got kinda. Changed until it was unrecognisable, and Siffrin just went with it until the earlier pronunciations slipped out of their swiss-cheese brain. And they just kinda don't remember any of that.

Also, something something the horrid realisation that Siffrin also named themselves after a King. Just not as blatantly.

*(though I think there's something here about Siffrin, a guy from a belief system that seems to thoroughly disincentivise autonomy and self-motivated choice continuously having their hand forced to make changes/choices they don't want but have no choice but to... It's not solid enough to really back this up tbh, but it informs it.)

I'm going to scream my dad said he got me a late Christmas gift that he forgot to wrap and it's a bunch of those dumb stamps but they're Cars characters and on top of that some of them include Cars 2 characters I'm going to lose my mind. I will start buying ink pads once the sad day of these running out come. I will terrorize so many things with these I already stamped my hand with a Lightning McQueen one but. But. The icing on the cake is that they're all different colors right. But for some reason the purple ones are Holley Shiftwell(makes sense, purple car) and ROD REDLINE!?!?! And that is making me even more bonkers because a right amount or Cars 2 characters get the "we don't exist" treatment, especially Rod(which I suppose makes sense why it would be hard to market a guy that exists for a few minutes before being blown up) and so I was so happy to see him.

I don't want to ruin this post in all caps so just read this as me shouting but as I'm writing this I'm looking at all of them and I was like "Haha, the McQueen one is the black one, I wonder who's on the red ones!" And it's Mack!! And I was like oh that's sweet. A lot of Radiator Springs characters get marketing attention(at least their stock png photos do) and Mack doesn't always as often get it so that was really nice. But then I'm like. Oh hey wait. There's like four of every color, two characters each color. Who else is on the red one...?

Hadn't heard from my one friend since September (she said she was having a party but it never materialized into an invitation) and I messaged her on instagram and texted her asking if she was still in the city / if they wanted to hang out and I'm still waiting for a response that probably won't arrive lmao. On one hand I totally understand the many reasons why people would deactivate social media etc. on the other hand I am kind of unaware of how to maintain connections in communication to people without this tool as it has been such a large part of my life at this point. People barely text anymore, people don't usually message me when they get a new phone number anymore either.

im constantly going back and forth about whether or not to rename some tdop characters.... mainly percy, athene, and zagreus... i like the names for them all especially because pallas is also an epithet for athena so it makes athene being the one to completely ruin pallas' life and body and forcing them to change their name and everything extremely fun. but at the same time i worry that me giving a bunch of my ocs greek mythology names because its one of my special interests gives the impression that its a retelling/adaptation or that the characters are analagous to the figures they share names with when theyre Not i just really really really really really adore the names and thought it was fun for some of the characters to have those names while filling similar roles... does this make sense

I'm starting to dread (ha) Dreadwolf, partly because Solas is the main antagonist and I have...... Absolutely no feelings about him at all, actually. The best I can summon is a big old "meh". And if they center him (which it seems like they plan to) and make a big deal about whether you want to kill him or redeem him or stop him or join him... Well frankly I just won't care and I'm worried that means I won't have a damn thing to care about in the game's main plot

I'm also worried that his success or failure at taking down the veil will be preordained since that's too big of a plot line to leave up to the player - there just wouldn't be any way to structure future games to account for that player choice. This is obviously a less well founded worry, but it makes it really hard for me to care about the stakes of the game

Idk I'm not trying to shit on people who are excited for this game (I am too, despite the bitching and moaning) but it's really hard to get excited for a game when the one thing you know about it is so completely uninteresting to you
