Just putting this out there on the tag because I haven't seen anyone else mention it in relation to OFMD - I highly recommend the Firefly series if you're missing the heartfelt, crew-based adventure/romance/dramedy vibes of OFMD. Yes, it's now 20 years old. Yes, it was tragically canceled after one season. But it's special in a way that reminds me of the warmth and humanity of OFMD. 💜 Oh, and it's a space Western, so you can't go wrong.

Someone on this platform already brought this up at some point but I just gotta say I love this era of television that we’re in right now. For a while, what would happen is a show would have a few seasons planned out, maybe have a cohesive ending in mind by a particular season, then that show would get super popular, and then just keep going after that point purely for the purpose of profiting off of the fanbase it has accumulated. And more often than not, those later seasons were definitively worse than the older ones, because now it’s not all about telling a great story, it’s about making as much money as possible. It’s about keeping something beloved going but for all the wrong reasons.

However, there are a lot more series’ nowadays that seem to value cohesive storytelling regardless of popularity, and I think that’s awesome. Sure, it’s sad when something you love is either just a miniseries or it only gets like 2-3 seasons, but when that limited number of episodes does a beautiful job telling a story with a well-written beginning, middle, and end, it’s so much easier to appreciate. Quality over quantity ftw

Be a Lighthouse - Fight For OFMD Season 3

Hi everyone. The news of our cancellation is both incredibly devastating, and quite shocking considering the trajectory of the show and its fanbase. Everything looked like it was lining up in a positive fashion...only for the rug to get yanked out from under us.

I cried. I went numb. I stared at the wall for a while.

But then, something sparked. Like Ed who was resolved to his fate in S1Ep4 only to rocket back upwards, I was struck with a realization: we need to be a lighthouse!

Fanbases have campaigned before, and have gotten results. Sense8 was able to get a two hour finale to properly wrap everything up. Lucifer was able to get picked up by Netflix after being cancelled by Fox. Brooklyn 99 was able to get picked up by NBC after being cancelled by Fox. And many more examples.

Be it a proper renewal, a finale wrap that entails Ed and Stede's wedding, or the attention from another network, I say we fight that good fight. So, here are some ways we can be heard; if you think of any additional points, please feel free to add them!

If you don't cancel your Max Subscription, continue watching the show and leaving feedback on Max's online feedback form. I had a kneejerk reaction when cancellation was announced and pulled the plug...only to sit back and reconsider. I want them to still get my metrics. I want them to still see the show means something to me. And whether that's through words or statistics, I feel like that's something.

2. Follow @renewasacrew and keep up with their resources/campaigns. They're very active and passionate, and have already come up with different ways to fight for our show.

3. Sign the petition to give us just that little bit more of a chance to have our voices heard.

4. Stay active on social media, and stay positive. Continue sharing how much this show means to us. Continue creating. Continue loving. Use hashtags like-

or anything equivalent on any and all OFMD-related posts. Keep the buzz about it going on social media. Comment on posts, keep spreading the word, and get the light burning.

6. Tweet/email other platforms to pique their interest. Be it Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix, or whoever else, let's see if we can't catch someone else's attention. A romcom with iconic LGBT representation seems pretty enticing if you ask me!

This show means the world to me. Y'all mean the world to me. So let's show them why. Let's show them why, and get the proper ending we, the cast and crew, and the characters all deserve.

I don’t know if a pick up somewhere else is all that realistic but I’m in the bargaining stage of grieving and need to cling to something so

Taika’s got a lot of connections to Disney production companies, such as FX/Hulu

Taika’s also got connections to Netflix, which has also licensed stuff from HBO Max in the past (including streaming rights to the recently cancelled Max show Warrior). Considering Netflix doesn’t want long-running programming, I can kinda see how the ofmd numbers in exchange for one season might be advantageous to them.

Prime might see this as an opportunity to capitalize on the overlap between ofmd and good omens fans, especially if ofmd can fill the gap in time before good omens season 3 comes out

Taika’s got connections to Apple now, too (although I think Apple is least likely)

anyways I’m in mourning and clinging to any hope I can get so I can feel Something™️

not that hulu/paramount+/peacock isn't an option but i'm glad DJenks listed three networks that are all accessible internationally. these networks are only available in the US so it would create the same issue for fans outside of the US as max did, where they'd have to wait for a service to pick ofmd up. viewership numbers should count international ones too honestly
