Bourbon, whiskey, scotch, red wine, beer, milk, coffee, soda, water.

Meat, bread, fruits and vegetables, honey, sweets, cakes, candy, cinnamon, spices, spicy food, heavily seasoned foods.

Frankincense and myrrh, dragons blood, cinnamon, sandalwood, cedar, ginger, peppercorn, thyme, and cypress are all good scents for incense, candles, essential oils, or perfumes.

Sutekh was first associated with the color white, in earlier texts, and later became associated with the color red. Items of these colors are acceptable. Other items you may offer are crystals (carnelian, garnet, obsidian, tourmaline, jasper, gold, silver, etc.), and sand!

You can also give him workout equipment! Give him weights, bands, etc.

Devotional acts

Acts of fun, loving chaos. Go out with your friends and joke around. Unlock your inner child- go to the arcade, a trampoline park (jump on your bed), go play laser tag! Sutekh is often seen as a ‘shadow work’ deity, as well, so unlocking your inner child can be a good way to heal parts of yourself that never got to be free and loud. You can also participate in different things like playing video games (play some CoD or Assassin’s Creed).

As a god associated with foreigners and foreign lands, it can be as simple as making new friends or going out to new places (restraints, parks, cities, states/countries). Put yourself out there and get out of your own comfort zone. Get out of the rut you may be in and do something different.

As a protector of Ra and leader of warriors, learn how to fight. Stick up for others and for yourself when you need it. Start working out, learn some self defense (watch some YouTube videos).

He also guided the deceased, and as a god of foreigners, help out others who may feel like they’re on the outskirts of society. Helping others is always a great devotional act, but it can be as simple as lending an ear to those who need it, listening and being there for them. Just remind them that they’re not alone- and just because they feel like they’re on the outskirts- it doesn’t make them any less valuable.

Imagery of the sha or even animals that look like the sha (anteaters, jackals, foxes, donkey, hyena). Sutekh is also associated with donkeys, pigs, flamingos, serpents, and hippopotamuses.

Sutekh is associated with the planet Mercury, the Great Bear constellation, and with sunsets. You may start feeling drawn to these or even see an increase in imagery. As well as imagery of royalty.

You may see an increase in storms in your area, or even earthquakes. He was connected to flash floods in the desert and his strength could cause the inundation. Speaking of his strength, you may feel a call to start working out and excising, as well.

You may feel an overwhelming heat surround you or a huge boost in confidence at random points in time.

I really wonder how Trickster feels at this point as the only member of his family whose only encounters with the Doctor had been via a beetle whose time meddling led to the Doctor's death briefly only to be defeated by Donna Noble and the timeline undone and via the wedding of former companion Sarah Jane, only to be defeated once more not by the Doctor again but instead, Sarah Jane and her kids (again in their case lol) alongside the latest pawn of his to go fuck you and take back the deal with him.

Set Being A Dad

Because I thought I’d post something different today! These are some memorable moments I shared with Set, a lot of which I'm now realizing are related to food.

I. That time I got Him brisket tacos and expensive spiced rum for His birthday. I offered them at His shrine and as I started inhaling the tacos (which were amazing) I got the sense He was happier that I was eating them rather than offering them.

II. That time I offered Him homemade grapefruit moonshine I got from a friend. I offered a shot and sensed He liked it. I drank the shot myself and started coughing to which I swear I could audibly hear Him hysterically laughing and felt a hand slap my back. I saw an image in my mind of Set throwing His head back laughing.

III. That time He stood in support at my Reiki attunement ceremony. It felt more like a graduation than a simple initiation. He stood off to the side, head held high and a proud, toothy smile on His face. Heru-Wer had an expression on His face that said, “I’m going to have to hear all about this later.”

IV. That time I made a habanero steak chili just for Him. I wasn’t particularly happy with the results and I’d like to think He genuinely liked it. Needless to say, I ended up giving the rest of the batch to friends so it didn’t go to waste.

V. That time I had a dialogue with Him about using the last of His expensive rum to glaze the Thanksgiving ham. Despite His sacred animal being the black pig, the answer I received was, “Go ahead, I’m not going to eat it!” He was more concerned that I put it use in the kitchen than have it sit on a shelf.

VI. Every time He was present during ritual, research, and remanifestation. Set was very much a supportive parent during the hardest times in my life and was always there during the best. Out of all the Netjeru, my relationship with Set is the most special to me.

Just a thought but Hibiscus tea for Suketh? It's tart in a great way and in a darker lighting appears blood red.

I don't think there would be anything wrong with it. generally, the gods don't tend to be too picky about offerings, ime. so long as it's something you enjoy and will eat, they are generally happy to partake. the redness of the tea does align with set really well, though. i used to offer hibiscus tea to sekhmet for the same reason (the redness)

Random Doctor Who Facts You Might Not Know, Part 67

Penelope Gate's first son died when he was less than a year old. (Novel: The Room With No Doors) This is significant because according to some accounts Penelope was the Doctor's mother, which would have made this son the Doctor's half-brother.

Susan was once seriously injured in a building collapse, getting a concussion, a fracture to the parietal bone that put pressure on her brain, major fractures to her clavicle, a few ribs, radius, ulna, tibia, damage to her spine, blood loss, shock, etc. While in a healing coma, she was replaced by an android duplicate, who helped save the day and pilot the last ship off the planet even though she wouldn't be able to be repaired by the people she was helping. (Novel: City at World's End)

One of the Doctor's Tutors at the Academy was called Professor Findle. Once while the Sixth Doctor was seeing vision meant to frighten him, he saw things like Cybermen, Daleks, Davros, and Findle. Findle had chided the young First Doctor for being a "nasty piece of work" with only a desire to meddle. (Short story: Power to the People)

Meg Carvossa was a friend of the First Doctor's. He offered to take her with him with Dodo in the TARDIS, but when she saw the interior, she ran away from fear. Becoming leader of New Houston, she falsified records to make it appear like there are more people than there are in order to send more supplies. She later encountered the Second Doctor. Her falsification of the records caused the servant robots to think like humans, and they wanted to become citizens. After the Doctor let them speak, the robots showed a video of Carvossa confessing to the falsification. She said that the Doctor ruined her. (Audio: The Yes Men)

The Seventh Doctor, after hiding his mind from Sutekh for 20 years, was intended to marry Hatshepsut. He eventually visits Hatshepsut in her dreams, tells her that he would have broken the Laws of Time for her, etc. She kissed him. (Audio: The Eye of Horus)

Ossu had been a warrior kidnapped by the War Lords, being returned afterwards with a cybernetic implant that caused violent, murderous behavior. After being returned, Ossu ate Issu-mul berries to become thinkers like the female members of the tribe. Partway through hir transition, Ossu-hir was "not male or female, not suited for war or thought, or for land or sea." Hir then died at sea. (Short story: War Crimes)

The Eleventh Doctor once told Caitlin that while he was not like Harry Potter for being able to talk to snakes, his uncle had locked him under the stares when he was younger. (Novel: Horror of the Space Snakes)

By one account, Susan's parents owned a concept shop that sold metaphysical, religious, and philosophical concepts. (Short story: Gallifrey: A Rough Guide)

Chloe was a Gallifreyan who survived the destruction of her planet in the War. She was trapped in the body of a little girl, and her second heart withered away and needed to be removed. She got a book that showed her the future, but when she tried to look at the last page, the book took both her eyes and twisted them, bending them out of shape. (Novel: Timeless)

The Tremas Master once sought out the Fleshsmiths after his Cheetah virus infected body started dying. The Fleshsmiths had the technology necessary to create any body regardless of its complexity, including Time Lords (using the Doctor of course). (Novel: Prime Time)

There are horror stories on Gallifrey about Time Lords being forced into a regeneration chain in an alien environment (like the vacuum of space). Each regeneration in the resulting chain would take them further and further away from the norm as they struggled to adapt to the environment. In the early days of travel, early Time Lords would return to Gallifrey and be either quietly killed or trapped inside their TARDISes. (Novel: The Taking of Planet 5)

The Doctor was considered to have failed his time travel proficiency test because, as the Fourth Doctor put it, he didn't take it. He didn't show up because he considered it pointless. Romana believed his behavior was the result of an inferiority complex resulting from his regret over his wasted years at the Academy. (Novel: Festival of Death)

One time while caught in a decompressing air lock, the Seventh Doctor declared, "I will not die while listening to elevator music!" He had been listening to Madame Butterfly by Puccini. (Audio: The Death Collectors) He would later regenerate a while after Grace performed surgery on him (and then got lost...) while listening to Madame Butterfly.

Before being transported to Iceworld, Ace saw Withnail and I in the cinema. She fancied Richard E. Grant. She wondered why the Doctor couldn't be more like him because Richard E. Grant wouldn't treat her like a "educationally sub-normal infant." (Novel: Independence Day) This was likely a joke in reference to Grant's role in The Curse of the Fatal Death, but Grant would go on to play the Doctor again a few years after this novel was published in Scream of the Shalka.

The Seventh Doctor once sent Ace and Hex to steal a crystal called the Veiled Leopard. After having an argument with himself, the Fifth Doctor sent Peri and Erimem to prevent it from being stolen. While Peri and Erimem prevented it from being stolen by a jewel thief, Ace and Hex worked with the thief's accomplice to swap the crystal out for forgeries. (Audio: The Veiled Leopard)

dw empire of death

hm. like many RTD finales, a bit of a mixed bag. i feel less certain of my overall thoughts than last week (which i thought was a blast, tbh).

the good: i'm... pretty happy with the ruby mom reveal. this whole mystery box set up turning out to be "she was just a scared young woman who couldn't raise her baby", an ordinary woman mythologized by ruby and the doctor over the season, etc, is an extremely RTD solution. and as a fan of his stuff I liked seeing that... well... pivot to his roots as opposed to her being part of the pantheon or something (which I admit I did wonder about myself).

the *idea* of her pointing at the sign to name the baby is nice, I like the meaning of it and what Ruby takes from it, but it is a bit of a clumsy set up. very dramatic pointing, ms miller.

also as much as i was dying to see what the screen said lol i DID love the character moment of ruby stepping forward to offer the name to sutekh, only to smash it, and then clip his collar (lmfao btw). i thought that was a nice character moment for ruby. in that moment i thought perhaps we'd never find out the answer, and that would be something ruby sacrificed for the greater good. i wasn't sure how satisfying that would be and I guess I'll never have to find out bc it's not what happened lmao, but it is where i thought we might be headed.

i liked seeing the gloves and the rope from TCORR come back. i like surprise tools that will help us later :)

loved the memory tardis from the time window and the use of that tales from the tardis set. how cool.

loved the time window playing clips of classic who that's so fun. mel's moment with six's outfit awwww. and i'm sure i missed some of the namedrops of planets etc that fifteen was going on about but i liked the ones i caught. shan-shen! oodsphere!!

i thought the effects of the dust wave and the insta-crumbling was pretty good and spooky

i really like having mel around! i hope we get to see her cameo again

the mixed bag:

'the death wave is eating memories and going back through family trees in reverse' is pretty cool as a concept, i thought. where i think this hurts the resolution a bit is that in the moment i thought, "ok, well, ruby's "safe" because there's the Mystery, there's no family tree for it to climb!" but like... there was. does sutekh need to personally be aware of your family tree to kill you?

i really liked the moment of fifteen and ruby watching louise outside the coffee shop, and i really liked the moment where ruby sits down across from her and then the barista calls the name ruby and they have this look. i ... kind of found myself wishing that it would stop there? i mean, i'm happy for ruby, and i think "ruby found her bio fam and now ruby and her big family are together" is a nice ending for the character. but there was something so emotional and bittersweet about that split second of wondering and connection between the two, and ruby having that choice to make...

the goodbye between ruby and fifteen was lovely. millie gibson is so good her big watery eyes make me so sad. i've enjoyed the two of them together and i think they have incredible chemistry as characters and actors, like, what a team of besties. i'll miss ruby on the TARDIS. but ... only 10 episodes, a couple of which didn't feature them much at all... a bond that didn't get super developed on screen ... I dunno. Left me wishing we got more from them through the season.

I do know we'll see more of Ruby next season, so I'm excited for that. an s4 Martha situation. but then I also worry about Varada Sethu's character getting development time too...

the not so good:

killing off rose, kate, etc in the first minute removes stakes, because while you might worry about characters like cherry or carla who won't necessarily stick around when ruby leaves or whose deaths will impact ruby, you know rose and kate are not going to stay dead permanently. also very infinity war (derogatory) where there was the same issue -- no these characters won't stay dead and i'm not going to humour it lol

rose temple sweetie it was nice to see you stand in the background and not speak. what was that about. she FINALLY got all of two lines. it just felt like she didn't serve a lot of purpose in this ep. I mean I liked seeing her but she did not do anything to the story in either part of the ep

the solution of "death kills death" was a bit goofy lol but it's doctor who the solution is always goofy. i didn't care too much about that i guess. but it was goofy

i really think we could've used a more decisive scene with carla and ruby. carla seems to understand ruby's desire to know her bio fam and be supportive of it and that's lovely. obviously ruby loves carla and vice versa. but i think it would've been nice to have a moment of on-screen explicit acknowledgment between carla and ruby that there might be weird feelings there, that louise isn't replacing carla, something like that.

related to the above, the Doctor says Ruby redefined the way he thinks of family, which is a huge thing to say, but I don't feel like I ever saw that happening on screen. it COULD have. all the pieces are there with foundlings and foster care and adoption...
