Worst road trip? 👀
Did Annatar come thousands of miles by himself? Of course not, he’s got a retinue and he’s been doing diplomatic visits en route because he’s efficient. Consider, if you will, the put-upon attendants (and carriage drivers and ceremonial guards and hostlers and whoever else) that have to deal with, well, Annatar.
--
We had had only two hours of rest when the divine king returned to the road. He did not return alone; He walked arm-in-arm with a man - an Elf - a West-elf - an upset West-elf - whom He did not introduce. At least the Elf wasn’t armed, though who knew what it - she? - he? - could do with his voice. I have only heard the Silver-king sing in anger once, and once was more than enough for one lifetime.

agents of shield s7 really was a shockingly good conclusion to something I like… like on it’s own it’s a good season but I don’t really realize how highly I think of it overall (it’s not agents of shield s4 who’s praises I’ll sing any day of the week) until I think about how many concluding seasons or books of shows or series I love could have been better if they were more like it in a variety of ways…
#s speaks#currently inspired by me venting about my wishes for a raven king where Blue’s mirror powers were treated more like May’s empath powers#(which is funny since apparently Maggie’s og draft gave Blue literal empath powers although mirror is still in that vain to an extent)#and her having feelings and anger and resentment once LMD Coulson comes into the picture but she doesn’t see him as her Coulson#but also the way he can be a neutral space for her while she’s navigating the powers is comforting#I would have Lurved an arc like that for Blue/Bluesey#and the questioning if he’s real or not thread for Coulson himself and everyone around him and their relationships#which is helped by the existence of s6 which wasn’t the best aos season (although even though it had messy parts I liked how focused on May#it was and that Ming got to shine a lot. I could have done with less fs and far less Deke but that’s-)#but if that season didn’t exist at all s7 wouldn’t have landed because we needed to see those chars Without Coulson. If they had just#skipped to Daisy slamming the button and that’s that then he’s off on his road trip and that’s that—#but outside of trcbrainrot magicians could have used that season as a model so could legacies so could a lot of different genre things w#unsatisfying endings#sometimes I will have to do a list of my favorite conclusions to things since there’s definitely less that I wholly am a fan of and more I’#so so on or dislike.#in terms of tv shows would say community agents of shield and person of interest are the main ones that really hold up to me and are great#endings to shows I cared about#for books: CP2 TKM and others I can’t think of rn

In an early version of AVWH, Jaime actually abducted Myra from King's Landing after he attacked Ned.
This also led to Jaime regrettably executing Jory in front of Myra.
Sometimes I wonder what that version of my story would look like now.

In this rehearsal of Don't Let Me Down John repeatedly improvises
Oh keep your hands off my baby
Possibly a reference to this song:

I don't know if the link will go directly to the track. If not, you want to select the circle 14 from the end and go to the track Don't Let Me Down 29.09

It’s thrilling having the opportunity to work these desert races. Getting chances throughout my work day to grab my personal camera and run out to the track to shoot these beast trucks that are easily hitting 140mph+ in some sections.
Yesterday when I heard the unlimited trucks were lining up to start I grabbed my gear. I walked about seven minutes into the middle of the infield and found my spot where I would soon catch this shot. The first few Unlimited trucks came and went leaving massive clouds of dust. Then Thomas St. Peter comes flying through. This guy’s tearing through the berms, ripping wide on the last turn. They’re approaching me, fast. Everyone who passed me earlier had feathered their gas at this hole. NOT ST. PETER! They just said, “fuck it” and launched out of it sending them flying into the air all crooked. It was equally wild and scary being so close to one of these trucks as it came off the ground.
Yeah, I love what I do.

I'd like to share a few pre-odyssey stories from Odysseus's life that I think are fun.
He didn't choose to go to war. He was drafted into the war as a general. He tried to get out of it by pretending he was crazy because he didn't want to leave Telemachus and Penelope. So, when the guys came to his castle, he was out in the field pulling a plow, with the horse behind it like the horse was driving him. And most of the guys were like, "Wow, he's totally crazy!" but the head dude was like, "No, he's tricky. We gotta see if he's actually crazy. Bring out his newborn son!" So they brought Telemachus out, and put him in the path of the plow being like "If the king is actually crazy he'll run over his son!" Odysseus didn't do it, he swerved around Telemachus, and his cover was blown, so he had to go to war.
There was a prophecy that the first soldier who set foot on the beaches of Troy during the attack would die first, so when Odysseus's army were on the boats about to attack, none of them wanted to get off, in fear of dying. Odysseus was like "okay we need to get this show on the road." so he made a big show of talking about how ridiculous prophecies were, while secretly throwing his shield down on the sand. Then he was all "I'll jump down first, to prove that it's silly!" So he jumped off the boat onto his shield, and his army was like "Wow! he landed on the sand first! We've got nothing to worry about now!" So they all jumped off, and sure enough the first dude that landed was the first to die.

Since it seems that almost nobody I know has actually read the concerning hobbits bit of the lord of the rings prologue here’s some lore about hobbit politics™
Hobbits are mainly ruled by clan law. What family you’re officially apart of is very important and pretty much everyone has everyone else’s family histories memorized
Hobbits like reading very boring books full of information they already know about their own family lines
There’s hobbit wealth inequality. Rich hobbits live in holes because they can afford to make very big ones that fill up entire hills and it’s a way of showing off. Poor hobbits live in holes because they can’t afford houses so they just start digging into a hill. Middle class hobbits live in built structures made of wood.
A very long time ago there used to be a king in the area that gave the region of the shire to the hobbits if they promised to maintain the roads and bridges of the region
That king and kingdom hasn’t existed for over a thousand years but the hobbits still act like he’s around and follow his laws
They know he’s not there. They just act like he still is.
The hobbits claim they sent a bunch of archers to help in a war a long time ago but nobody else has this in their records of that war
Hobbits’ main methods of killing things usually involves either archery or throwing stones at things. Apparently they’re really really good at killing things by throwing rocks at them.
Bree hobbits live side by side with men and have lived there for a very long time
Bree hobbits call shire hobbits “colonizers”
They’ve got a leader called a thane but he’s only relevant during times of crisis to convene a moot of clan leaders but hobbits don’t generally have times of crisis so he’s mostly a figurehead
The thane is almost always from the Took family
There’s a mayor of the shire that’s elected. He mostly plans events and appoints the sheriff
There’s twelve police officers in the entirely of the shire that mostly act as animal control
The book makes a point of letting you know that the police officers don’t have uniforms but they do put little feathers in their hats
