Welcome to the reverse verse! This is part 1 of 2 of a commission for @i-am-as-normal-as-you-are and I can't wait to tell you all about it, because I'm incapable of being normal and chill about these concepts, so I ran with it.

Charles Rowland was born in 1900, his mum was from India and moved to the UK after marrying Charles' dad, a soldier who was not... very loving. Charles' heritage gave him some problems, but none as bad as that one time in 1916 when he was sacrificed to a demon and spent the next 7 decades in Hell. He doesn't like to talk about it, except when it can get him what he wants. He was always an angry boy, or so he thought, but after his time spent in Hell, it became so much worse. He's explosive and unpredictable, and so he mostly avoids conflict. He doesn't need to fight anyone, as his charming personality and sweet smile (plus a few smart calculations) always seem to be enough to convince people to give him what he asks for. And when the fight is inevitable... well, he has Edwin for that!

Edwin Payne grew up very sheltered, in a deeply religious home, and he is proud of that. Don't try to argue with him, because he surely has a Bible verse that will help him win (and if not, he is not above using his croquet mallet now that he has someone to keep safe). Unfortunately for him, he realized at a quite young age that he felt attraction towards other boys. Even worse, somehow other people could tell as well, including those peers that ended up killing him for it (the rumour spread throughout school was that he had died due to AIDS, and most people just accepted it). He never acted on those unnatural urges of his, but when he met this ghost who had just escaped Hell... he decided not to risk eternal damnation, and to stay here with Charles, instead. Edwin has no interest in the supernatural or in magic, and sort of looks down on them, but luckily his friend's got that covered.

I get so excited everytime I see you post something new for your ex-con au. How do Deadpool and Peter’s Spidey-sona first meet? Sorry if you already went over this and I missed it.

Spidey and Deadpool have a hit meet cute! You see, Spider-Man's been getting in Deadpool's way and costing him a pretty-penny (and yelp ratings!) in jobs, and we just can't have that.

As for Weasel, he might look like a drowned rat, but the man is a shrewd businessman who excels in recognizing opportunities when they walk through the door. And despite his reputation as kind of a pushover, he can be very cold and calculating. After all, you can't survive long in the business of cutting throats without being cutthroat yourself.

He and Wade have a very friends-not-friends relationship. There's fondness between them, but there's also fear from Weasel's side in regards to Wade. However, Weasel (reluctantly) does have Wade's back if it comes to it.

As for Peter, Weasel immediately recognizes his attachment to Emma and uses it to his advantage in working Peter to the bone. Over time, he does grow to have a bit of a soft spot for the guy, but mainly keeps him around because he's useful. (And because Wade might actually kill him if he lets Peter go.)

today I come to you with the thought of Edwin deciding to be more tactile and in general more open with his affection towards Charles post confession

more shoulders pats, hugs etc. and it just somehow spirals into his hand finding its way onto Charles' lower back when they're standing close

or grabbing Charles' waist when Edwin wants to pass by him and Charles has loved all the previous developments but simply cannot cope with the new ones because they make him shiver but also hot all over at the same time

they make his head spin, but he can't stop looking forward to them and when sometimes Edwin walks past him and doesn't touch his back, Charles actively misses the contact, but how are you supposed to remind your best mate that he forgot to touch your waist? you can't!

and the final boss for Charles' sanity is Edwin's hand moving from a shoulder touch to a lower back touch, just an absent-minded caress down his spine, while Edwin's focus is on explaining something, and it makes Charles' eyelashes flutter close

Gale romance, but what if there was more pining? I honestly really like the platonic version of this scene - maybe even more than the romantic one. It's just so sweet how he just wants to be with a friend before he decides whether to live or die.

Now I'm imagining it as the night when the two secretly pine for each other, dreaming of a what-if they confessed, but both of them not confessing (yet) because they both don't think they deserve the other.

Maybe her impulsive confession would happen when he's about to blow himself up
