I love creating, mostly drawing and writing but it includes animating or sculpting and even playing piano/elec. guitar. I love chess and logic games/puzzles, as well as video games of all kinds (fantasy usually!). I also enjoy darker topics, since I'm quite fascinated by the human nature.

I love to hang out with friends, bake, watch shows, talk, etc, quality time is a big love language to me. I also like physical contact, as long as we're close!

I dislike physical activity, conflict of any kind, and loud noises/bright lights for too long. Another no are outright gore or some kind of horror (I have paranoia which can lead to a lot of anxiety.)

I don't exactly have an ideal type but they must be open-minded, ideally make me feel like they're interested in whatever I have to say, be willing to hang out and be honest!

Anyhow, enough of my silliness! Let’s move our focus on somebody else’s silliness, as I romantically match you with...

Lucifer!

Right off the bat I should mention that you and Lucifer share an interest which is creating; both of you spend the majority of your days bringing life to your little creations, so imagine how fun it would be to work together and show each other the fruits of your work at the end of each day! He is definitely enchanted by how many skills you possess, but his favorite thing is when you finish writing a story and you ask him to read it. He does so out loud, imitating the voices of each character and making you laugh by doing so. As he continues reading though, his tone shifts into a more serious one, a sincere smile remaining on his face. He doesn’t want you to think that he doesn’t take your work seriously, plus he’s genuinely fascinated by how easily you can bring to life the characters in your stories.

You love baking and he loves sweets, I couldn’t think of a better combo! Many a times you drag him into the kitchen and he follows diligently, ready to help and possibly make a bit of a mess as he’s not the most well versed in these kinds of activities. But! He definitely tries for you, passing you the ingredients as you carefully try to follow every step of the recipe correctly. He’s also a bit of a chatter box himself, so rest assured you will have a lot to talk about as you break eggs and mix the ingredients! He sometimes brings up how he misses doing these things with Charlie as well, and you kindly remind him that he’s free to invite her over to do this any time as you’ve grown quite fond of her as a friend.

Returning on the topic of Lucifer being quite talkative, he really appreciates how much your interests vary as this allows you two to have conversations about anything and everything. While I feel like some things he wouldn’t be into himself, such as video games, there’s nothing that he loves more than to listen to you excitedly talk about an interest that he’s not really familiar with, because this just means that there’s more things to learn directly from you. You of course have to do your part in listening to him talk about whatever he might be into but you’re not, though!

Lucifer adores the fact that you can play the piano and electric guitar, as he’s able to play some instruments himself! It’s not rare for you two to play together, making up songs between piano keys being pressed and bows being drawn across the strings of his fiddle. The little concerts last for hours, and they always end with you sharing a tired but satisfied kiss with each other.

If there’s something that Lucifer understands about you it’s your struggle with emotions; his own are a mess, especially seeing that he struggled with isolation and depression after he and Lilith separated, but also because his humour is generally a little unpredictable. After meeting you though he’s able to pace himself slightly as you inevitably bring joy into his life, and so he manages to be helpful in your times of need. At first he might push you a little to still spend time together even though you’re claiming you need space, but once he’s got you figured out he’s going to give you all the space that you need and let you come back to him at the end of the day, offering you a warm embrace by wrapping you up protectively with his wings. And then, with a little pun here and a light joke there, he’s going to get a smile out of you again.

Speaking of hugs, he absolutely adores them. Getting to be lazy with you and cuddling is one of his favorite activities,  as it also means not having to look after the obnoxious residents of Hell for a while. Rest assured he’s going to ask for five more minutes of cuddling with you every single morning, and if you don’t give them to him he’s definitely going to get pouty.

All things considered, Lucifer is glad he’s not alone anymore, instead he found great company in you and he appreciates all the love that you decide to show him in your unique ways. He’s of course more than willing to shower you in affection, and though he might go a little overboard sometimes, being a bit dramatic and all, you know he means well and you don’t get actually mad at him.

Alastor!

First of all this came as a surprise to me as well, as Lucifer and Alastor don’t seem to get along very well, but allow me to demonstrate why you would get along with both!

Alastor values good manners, cordiality and intelligence a lot in others, which you all possess, in my opinion. He’s fascinated by your mannerisms just as much as you are by his, and admires the fact that you seem to have many skills. Some of them he might even take part in himself, such as playing chess and delving into darker topics. This would lead you to spending quite some time together, discussing such topics over a chess board.

The friendship between you and Alastor could be seen as unusual by most other people, but in reality it’s based on a very deep trust. You both trust each other to not cross boundaries; you don’t like physical touch from somebody who isn’t close? He’s going to respect that, he’s actually just the same. He’s not the biggest fan of sexual remarks? Sure, you’re going to be relying on other jokes, primarily puns as he seems to be a big enjoyer of those.

You and Alastor enjoy the occasional planned hang out with each other, usually opting for recitals and musicals as you both enjoy those a lot. You respect each other’s wish to quietly follow the play but at the end of it you’re very eager to have an open discussion about it.

Alastor, as the good friend that he is, also tries his best to take care of any kind of conflict that may arise while you’re together for you. Will you have to hold him back from doing anything too crazy? Sure, most of the time a little scare is enough...

He’s also pretty closed off with his own emotions, so a positive thing is that he’s never going to push you to talk about things, even in general. He does worry though, you’re his dear friend, and his way of showing it is by tolerating more than he would usually. May that be a short hug or whatever you might need from him to feel better, he’s willing to make an effort to provide it to you.

Watching Bojack and being ace and not liking Todd that much is quite an experience.

I really liked Bojack, I thought the writing was great and this definitely includes Todd. He’s some of the best ace representation in television.

But here’s the thing; the humor in Bojack…. I don’t like it. Not because it’s bad, I just don’t find it funny. To me it ranged from mildly entertaining to downright annoying. I remember sitting through the last season and hating the bit between the two journalists and the dawning horror of realizing it was gonna be a multi-episode bit. And the thing about Todd is that he was usually the front-liner for the show’s comedy alongside Mr. Peanutbutter. So yah he wasn’t my favorite. I loved his arc and the real moments he got to have. But the thing is… his ace experience doesn’t match mine at all.

This of course doesn’t make him bad at all. People on the acespec or just people in general are going to have different experiences. I didn’t get to have the sort of connection some of my peers did but that’s okay. Todd acted as a lot of people’s first exposure to aceness as a concept, which no matter what is super cool. My real issue is how people treat me when I say I didn’t relate to his journey.

I have a friend who had been telling me to watch Bojack for years. She watches once a year (the masochist) and she knows I’m a sucker for good writing about complex issues. So I watched it on her recommendation despite not loving the first few episodes. And yknow what yah I did really like it. I could go on and on about Bojack and Diane and Princess Caroline, but everyone already has so I won’t. Anyway, after I finished I came back to her and because she knows I’m ace she (in good faith) asked about how I felt about Todd, to which I answered honestly. She was genuinely shocked. At first she also took it as criticism of the show, but she couldn’t wrap her head around me being ace and not relating to him. Which really irked me.

Tons of people in the queer community complain about how media and culture in general act as if there’s a single narrative for what being gay or lesbian or trans is supposed to look like, yet the same queer people turn around and can’t fathom that an ace person might also have varied experiences. Not every ace person is sex repulsed and it’s especially laughable to me that it’s assumed that aceness only has one “mode,” when—unlike most other sexualities— the spectrum is always the core part of the discussion around asexuality. I’m not mad at my friend for not knowing this, it’s just frustrating.

The only trans character is fetishized, yet Viv is treated like this hero for trans rep. Stolitz (the main gay ship) has the plot-line of a yaoi fanfic. Angel Dust (the supposed positive gay rep) is literally a walking stereotype of not just gay men, but sex workers as well. Alastor (the aro/ace 'rep') is just the classic serial killer who's too in love with himself to ever love anyone else. Not to mention the whole 'spooky-ooky voodoo' thing he has is straight up disrespectful to the religion. But ironically, the straight couple(s), including Moxxie and Millie AND Lilith and fucking Lucifer live this fairy-tale dreamworld and the only good rep from the show is literally from background characters or a one off character we'll probably never see again. Wanted to know how you think Stolitz should be re-worked (if it can be saved atp. It's hopeless as of now) Along with how you think Alastor can be good representation if the effort is put into him.

Agreed with everything here. So sorry for the late reply, just a message to all my followers real quick, keep in mind guys that if you send me something, I’ll get to you in time! I get a lot of asks, so it’s hard to keep track sometimes, but I haven’t forgotten you! 👍

Also yes, I do believe Stolitz can be saved, but of course things would need to change. Now I don’t mean on a rewriting standpoint, but I do mean just….moving forward. To make a long story short, what Stolas needs to do is get his shit together. He needs to acknowledge and FULLY own up to what he did, how badly he treated Blitz, and how he couldn’t make his daughter his priority. He was selfish, possessive, and toxic, and honestly he just needs to figure out what love IS because he clearly doesn’t know how to treat a partner. The show also really needs to start doing some actual GOOD storytelling, I want to see why exactly Stolas fell in love with Blitz, what impact he had on him, and why he pins onto him so much. The show failed at making me feel like Stolas felt any genuine feelings towards Blitz, and because of that I don’t even want the two together because there’s nothing to go OFF of, there’s just…no chemistry outside of them meeting once as kids, and then fucking, and that’s the major problem, but like I said, this can be saved, so long as Stolas admits his faults and actually WORKS to be better. On a realistic standpoint, Stolas should honestly just leave Blitz alone, figure things out for himself, tend to his family and take time alone, because I honestly don’t think he’s ready for a relationship, until he fixes himself. That’s why I would HOPE that from what we’ve seen in episode 1 of season 2, Stolas gives Blitz an Asmodeon crystal, and cuts ties with him until further notice. I would love this idea, it would show us the first step example of Stolas actually trying to better himself. And speaking of Blitz, he needs to do the same thing. Cut ties with Stolas, and get his shit together. The problem is just that both these characters are just horrible people who need to admit their faults and work on being better, THEN they should see if they’re able to be in a relationship. The problem is….that when it comes to how Blitz sees Stolas, the show through storytelling has done nothing but show that he doesn’t like him, and feels trapped, only screwing him for Lust and pity. It’s honestly safe to say that as a writer, Vivzie has fucked up multiple times when it comes to their relationship. Every time she has a chance to improve it, she makes it worse, and with season 2 episode 2 being the recent episode, it can only go further downhill from here. Again, there’s still a chance to improve this moving forward, but I feel like the only way to do that is for Stolas to just give Blitz the crystal and focus on himself for a bit.

As for Alastor, I’m going to be 100% honest, I don’t really think his asexuality needs to be explored in the show. Not that I have anything against that because I don’t, it’s just think that with a character like Alastor, is there really a need to explore it? With a writer like Vivzie, I personally always felt like she never had the intention to. I feel like her idea for his character was just that he was obsessed with himself and too focused on other things to be in a relationship, and that’s it, no double meaning regarding sexuality. It felt more like she labeled him as ace because she wanted representation points, when she easily could have said “he’s obsessed with himself because he’s a homicidal maniac serial killer” and just leave it at that, it would have made sense and I wouldn’t have batted an eye because it fits with his character. Meanwhile fans always made his asexuality a big deal and I never understood it. For a character like Angel, I get it, because he wasn’t allowed to be himself during the 40’s and is now openly gay in hell, but Alastor? Why would I care about this man being ace, who’s literally a serial killer that’s probably murdered thousands of souls and is one of the most feared beings in hell? Who’s also clearly mentally insane? I dunno, y’all can disagree with me on this, but this is just my opinion. People also call Al good ace representation and Lmao….no? Go look at Todd from Bojack Horseman, THAT’S good ace rep, Alastor only feels ace to me because he’s a dick who only likes himself. However please again keep in mind that these are my opinions, if you’re happy there’s an Ace character in the show, that’s 100% okay! As for Alastor and the voodoo stuff being disrespectful, I can’t really speak on this subject because I don’t have the proper knowledge, so I’m not saying I disagree, I just can’t speak on the subject lol.

the AC AU is based more on the michael fassbender movie than it is on the games, mostly because i don't really play video games and when my wife does i'm not really paying attention to the plot as much as i am to her combat-wiggles and sky-murder-determination face. largely it goes something like this:

lan zhan is picked up by the golden sun (or something?) association which is run by descendants of the jin and wen demonic cultivators who have been searching for the yin hufu for centuries. the jins are the public face of the company and in the regressions the spiritual cultivators most often see jins as friends and allies so it’s a surprise twist (to anyone unfamiliar with both franchises, i guess?) when we find out they’re evil.

in this the animus works on reincarnations instead of genetic memory so we can still have happy gay couples who adopt their children. lz is a reincarnation of lan wangji, who is a reincarnation of hanguang-jun. the story of yiling laozu and hanguang-jun is legend even by the time lwj is alive. but Fate or whatever, so guess who else is there! also every trip into the animus helps lz form his golden core but also taxes his body like crazy.

so lz regresses to lwj and meets wei wuxian. lwj falls in love with wwx even though he’s technically a bad guy. together they manage to steal the remaining half of the yin hufu and … do something with it? lz also falls in love with wwx so he wants to go back in as much as possible to see him more and lz doesn’t yet realize that every time he goes in it helps the enemy. wwx of course dies horribly in front of lwj allowing lwj to finish his mission in the past. wwx’s death severely effects lz too and with his dying breath he told lwj not to trust the jins so when lz comes back out he’s ready to fuckin fight.

present day race for the yin hufu sees lz meeting wei ying and wy already being way more involved than he could possibly have known.

other spiritual cultivators in the present include song lan, jiang cheng, mianmian, probably more? a nie brother? wen qing’s reincarnation is running the science side of the program for golden sun. she'll probably be an insider that wy is already working with. wen ning is still a fierce corpse who has been working against the jins since the days of legend because immortality be like that sometimes.

clearly it is very fleshed out (sarcasm), and i don't really have much in terms of prose already written for it but i do have this:

Lan Wangji drew the long sword at his side in a smooth and fluid motion, confident and sure in his ability to use it effectively. Lan Zhan could feel the bleed of that confidence, the thread of that skill, but fear still beat in his chest as the creature advanced. It was a strange weave of volition and memory -- like a dream. Like a dream he knew wasn't his own. Something thrummed inside him as the blade slid from its sheath. A resonant hum, low and deep in his abdomen. He reached for it -- or, Lan Wangji reached for it -- and it responded. It flowed, cool like water but crackling like electricity, from that source in his core, spinning and unraveling and stretching until it formed a connection, a circuit, with the energy he could feel pressed and folded into the steel of the blade. The ease of the action spoke to years, decades of discipline. And the power -- oh, the power -- in it explained the stumble in the creature's step.

tbh i will probably never write it as much more than this or a threadfic or something so if anyone wants it, be my guest! as noted i have far too many wips, so.... :D

drag king Will au specifics (not everything but the most important bits)

Will’s trans backstory (the basis of this whole thing):

-his basic labels are non-binary trans man. sexuality wise he’s pan, but with a heavy preference for other trans people and feminine cis men

-still loosely follows canon, but certain events are different. the whole point of this is the cat and mouse game between them with the canon already established (the patient/psych dynamic and will eventually finding out that he’s the ripper). hannibal still tries to initiate Will’s becoming, but the whole thing is filtered through a trans lens where not only does Will become Hannibal’s partner in crime and goes on the run with him, but he also ‘becomes’ his true self identity wise thanks to hannibal and his way of life.

-his relationship with gender: he was raised by his father to be a ‘southern belle’ type of girl, and held to strict female gender roles. once he was able to get to college, he saved enough money to go on HRT, and began living his life as Will. when he first got to Baltimore, he bumped into Beverly, who knew some of the big ppl at the ultra exclusive drag/general hedonism club, and got him an audition which he aced with flying colors despite never having performed in any context and bev is basically his fairy drag mother bc she has experience of her own

-the club’s backstory: it’s basically a place for baltimore’s elite to go and be secretly gay and for drag shows, there’s a certain group of elites (which includes Hannibal) who wear masks and sit in the vip seats and do a digital tipping system so they don’t have to reveal themselves. basically, it’s an underground club where most things are allowed (with extensive rules, so also kind of a sex club, which Will occasionally partakes in but not for money, and does drag and burlesque and occasionally stripping if he has to fill in for someone). it’s very exclusive in its clientele and performers, and only performers who are considered to be amazing and near perfect are invited to work for them. basically, it’s a club for hedonism. politicians go there and extremely powerful ppl in general

-hannibal is a long time supporter and regular of the club (in most of the areas) but before Will was hired, he hadn’t gone in a year and decides randomly to go on the night of Will’s debut because he was curious about how Will would be. Will starts working for the FBI around the same time as his initial debut, and almost immediately knows it’s Will, but Will doesn’t find out about Hannibal going to every single show of his (drag/burlesque/stripping) until about mid way into the fic, which then leads into the section where Will purposefully chooses songs that he knows will rile Hannibal up. basically, Will ups the ante with every performance until he’s able to provoke Hannibal into action (aka they finally fuck).

-cont: once Will knows about Hannibal going, he starts to tease him slightly at their appointments and pretty much every time they’re together, even at work. he’s testing Hannibal’s patience at this point, and Hannibal starts to drop cryptic hints that he knows about Will and teases him back. eventually, the sexual tension comes to a head when Will does a duet with another king in front of Hannibal (and it’s a VERY sexually charged song), which drives him to act on his feelings and ambush Will backstage, fucking him on the counter and right against the mirrors as the other performers watch from the other side of the room (and they’re both aware of their audience). it’s at this point that Will whispers to Hannibal that he knows that he’s the ripper so nobody else can hear them, and they both confess their love for each other.

-cont: after the final curtain call, Hannibal rushes him out and tells Will that he’ll be staying at Hannibal’s house for the night and Will doesn’t even fight it. once there, Will convinces Hannibal to let him de drag first and get comfy before he’ll do anything else, and of course Hannibal whines about it a bit, but lets him. after Will is out of drag, Hannibal lays him down and tells him that they’re going to properly fuck, and it’s slow and romantic sex, compared to the spur of the moment fuck back at the club. the next morning, they talk about Will knowing he’s the ripper and they formulate a plan to fake their deaths and run away together. Will’s performer friends and contacts at the club help arrange for them to leave the country and get Will hired at a new club under a completely new identity (because not surprisingly, this happens A LOT there) and they live happily ever after as murder husbands in Cuba. before they leave though, they spend a while longer there just to be able to kill and make tableaus together.

-nobody but Hannibal and Beverly ever find out about Will’s job which is why he’s still able to be a performer (because the club is very protective of their talent and have close relationships with gov. officials). Chilton finds out but is appropriately dealt with

-Chilton also goes to Will’s shows and is very creepy about it to Will at work and starts to sexually harass him when Hannibal isn’t with him. Once they know about each other, Hannibal vows to make Chilton regret his advances, but Will stops him from outright killing him immediately. he hatches a plan to bait and trap Chilton at a secret location (that Hannibal owns obviously) under the pretense of a private strip show. when the time is right during his performance, Hannibal surprises him and they both torture him and castrate him. they do this just before they leave the country as their last murder in the US

-during the initial period of Will not knowing, Hannibal starts to theme his tableaus after Will and some specific performances, as a way of courting him. that’s when he finally started to suspect Hannibal because of the same reasons in the show. he starts to realize that the ripper is a huge fan of his and begins to try and cater to him without even knowing who it is, only knowing that he’s in the VIP section and is one of the city elites. as the tableaus get more and more bold and obvious, he officially begins to suspect Hannibal. so he does a number that is tailored exactly to what Hannibal likes and he stands directly in front of the VIP section, making eye contact with Hannibal and doing very sexual movements towards him.

-cont: at the next show, Will does an extremely sexual duet with another king and makes eye contact with Hannibal again when the other king gets on his knees in front of Will and has his face right on Will’s crotch and Will mimes an orgasm. This makes Hannibal absolutely snap, and he confronts Will backstage as soon as he gets off stage and ambushes him in the dressing room, and fucks him right on the makeup counter and up against the mirrored wall while the other performers watch them from the other side of the room while both of them are very aware of it.

-many politicians and even the occasional president have visited the club, some going regularly and requesting private shows with certain performers (Will has been requested quite often, but never actually taken anyone up on it bc he likes to stay out of that mess). Hannibal eventually finds out that Will has privately danced for several of Hannibal’s socialite friends (he only refuses politically powerful people, and socialites are the majority of his clientele) and eventually confronts Will about it, accusing him of sleeping with them. Will just smirks and says that it’s ’confidential’ and Hannibal punishes him for it, well aware that it apart of his job, but does it more as a jealousy thing. when they flee to Cuba, Hannibal lets Will continue doing his job, just not the outright sexual portion of it, and he has to be at every single performance and backstage with him.

-so basically, Will’s kind of a prostitute I guess, but he doesn’t do it for money, he just does it because he likes it and he gets paid more than enough for his actual job so he doesn’t have to charge for sex

next up is shelley “shel” bloomberg, he/him worlds most cringest boy (its a feature not a bug). he’s grayromantic and gay, but he doesn’t know it yet so shhh!!!! hes a massive alien fan, local believer of every cryptid ever (he WILL show you "proof" if asked), avid xfiles watcher and scifi enjoyer. basically hes a huge nerd and we love him for it. usually he gets made fun of (*COUGH* SYLV *COUGH*) for his interests, but its lucky he knows his stuff, seeing as their town is about to get invaded by real-life actual aliens!! can most likely be found on call with his brother alex, playing his scuffed (absolutely NOT pirated he would never do such a thing stop lying) copy of the sims 2, or looking for extraterrestrial life using his handheld telescope. or just looking at space bc you know. space cool.

finally, we have sylvia mahji, she/her the most beloved of girls in the whole wide world. unlabeled sapphic who is POSSESSED BY AN ALIEN!! UH OH!!! well its really more of an unwilling symbiotic relationship but still UH OH!! dont worry her and her alien parasite become buddies (or more... hmmm.........) as time goes on. and she gets alien superpowers. hell yeah. she often ends up being mean to people in an effort to fit in, however all she really wants is friends :( her and theo used to be besties above all the resties but they started drifting apart at the beginning of the story, something to be discussed over the course of the plot. also she and shel are neighbors and have a rival relationship, like they hate each other so much for literally no reason. can you tell i like rivals to friends relationships. oH YEAH AND SHES FUCKING CRACKED AT BASKETBALL GIRL IS BALLING FR

other characters include: spacegirl!! the aforementioned alien parasite of sylv. she, although her name would make you think otherwise, is not a girl but an alien. i dont have a design settled on for her, but i do know that i want her to be humanoid, and she's got a green and pink color scheme :) when she takes control of sylv's body (because she can do that. forgot to say. eyah) sylv's eyes turn green and other eyes open up all over her body because cool :thumbsup: she came on the same spaceship the invaders coming to earth are from, but she just wants to see earth and have fun!! and maybe prevent her evil tyrant alien leader from taking over another world!! who knows!!

another important character is alex flores-bloomberg, shel's half brother, scene kid, and all around goofy guy :3 transmasc he/him, really just here to cause problems and get myspace followers. shel's father absolutely hates him and that fact is only partly because he stained his entire bathroom with hairdye. he's two years younger than the rest of the cast, a point that will be constantly used to make fun of him. i love him dearly. you get it.

Some of these focus on him being aro. But it's sort of a stand-in, in the comics, for him being both aro and ace. Anyway, I tried to pick stuff that highlighted the fact that Jughead wasn't a woman-hating gay-coded 'confirmed bachelor.' He was a romance-hating, often touch-averse, ace-coded 'confirmed bachelor.'

There are plenty of examples of the former, throughout popular media, during the first 75 years of Archie Comics. The queer-coding for them is completely different. The only similarity is that both types were often shown as recoiling from even the idea of relationships with women.

Some of the queer-coding for gay men included high voices, limp wrists, being an interior designer -- "feminine" attributes." Or:

"‘friend of Dorothy’, coloured handkerchiefs, or soft, pastel, violet clothing. Because film at the time was black and white, colour coding was either referred to, or often the handkerchief would be ‘perfumed.’ "In The Maltese Falcon (1941) a character sends in his business card and Sam Spade’s secretary notes it smells of 'gardenias.' A few minutes later, Spade smells the man’s handkerchief and doesn’t say anything but does raise an eyebrow high, clearly telling the audience ‘this fellow is queer.’.

"Otto Preminger’s Laura overtly coded Waldo Lydecker as queer: shooting him in a bathtub with plenty of suggestion he was interested in McPherson; playing up his impeccably dressed dandy-ness; clearly portraying him as the sharp-tongued gay-best-friend type."

By contrast, Jughead was never portrayed as anything but a clever, independent, slightly self-centered high school guy with a high metabolism and a passion for hamburgers. There was no winking at the audience. There were no gay in-jokes. There were no hints, in any decade, that maybe there was "a reason" he didn't like girls. That maybe he was just closeted.

And notably, when the series introduced a gay character, they did NOT go for Jughead. They had to invent a completely new person.

If they had ever been hinting that Jughead was gay, he would have been the obvious choice. It would have raised a lot of questions, and probably a lot of concerns, for them to introduce Kevin Keller instead -- or, at least, for them to introduce him and not imply that he and Jughead were going to end up together.

Honestly, the true test for any of these bigots who claim Jughead is gay should be, "Can you really picture him with Kevin Keller?"

Instead, mainstream pieces at the time said things like, "Jughead came out as asexual which explains why he’s never seemed interested in anything except for cheeseburgers."

Here are some good examples from older canon:

"Twelve Cent Archie references a story from Jughead 119 (April 1965) in which a machine built to identify Jughead’s perfect romantic partner inevitably self-destructs due to the impossible nature of its task."

"And though he wasn't a 'confirmed aro/ace' in the original comics and a few issues tried to explain away his behaviors with random back stories, over the course of hundreds of issues it was made obvious he preferred food to woman and constantly avoided romantic interactions and relationships and loathed such endeavours."

"What is it about aromanticism that makes showrunners pretend we don’t exist and fellow aces turn their faces when we say we do? What’s so bad about saying no to love that an aromantic asexual character is allowed to say he doesn’t like sex on TV, but not to say he doesn’t like romance? What is the difference? Why is it here where everyone draws the line? Why is it okay to not feel sexual attraction in this case, but not okay to not feel romantic attraction?

"I will tell you why. I’m not available to anyone. Neither is Raphael and Jughead, and lots and lots of aroaces, some of us not even as queerplatonic partners. There aren’t love stories to be told about us or sold about us. If Jughead and Raphael are made ace and aro, their ships sink, unless their fans are okay with queerplatonic relationships and most aren’t. Do you have any headcanons about how the different tribes celebrate pride month? Sorry if you have already done headcanons for this before.

No I actually haven’t done this before! To be honest I feel like gay and trans dragons are just naturally accepted in the dragon world and they’ve never really been questioned, the most controsvery the topic ever had was a Queen stepping down because he transitioned to male and didn’t want to be Queen anymore unless he could rule and be called King but I do think some tribes have some lgbt related traditions i can share! ( sorry if this answer is kinda lame, I just think the only things dragons hate each other about is dragon xenophobia and ableism because thats the only form of discrimination shown in the books )

Mudwings: While I disagree that Mudwings don’t take care of dragonets like it’s said in the books and I personally think the village raises the Mudwing dragonet, Mudwings have a generally aro/ace society, of course this doesn’t mean Mudwings aren’t allowed to fall in love and of course some Mudwings reproduce but romance isn’t like very common. There’s never been a second queen or a king by the Mudwing Queen’s side in history because Mudwings generally don’t distinguish romantic and platonic relationships. Which is often why most Mudwings are hit with giant culture shock visiting other tribes. Basically Mudwings are just like: we are all pals and friendly to dragons we like and if we don’t like you fuck you

Seawings: I like to think Seawing Queens historically are the most gay like I have no clue why I just have a distinct vibe and gut feeling that during mot Seawing Queen eras there were 1 or moresecond queens who were just their wives. I have no clue why I think this either, it’s just kinda a thing that’s an unknown trend in the sea kingdom.

Skywings: Skywing names typically tend to be more gendered and because of this, Skywings who come out as trans have a ceremony in which their wings are painted with the colors of a sunrise, and their parents or guardians give them a new name that matches up with their gender identity. Although some trans Skywings like the name they were given at hatching/it’s not really a gendered name so they just dick around with pretty colored wings for like an hour, although this ceremony will also take place if a Skywing is getting their name changed for any reason.

Sandwings: I don’t have any headcanons for them sorry :((

Icewings: Mfs really can be the trans flag. Like pink? Blue? White? All Trans flag colors that Icewings can be. In conclusion all Icewings are trans fuck you /j

Silkwings: I know lgbt flags wouldn’t technically exist in this world because like they don’t have the same history we do but Silkwings weave flags no questions asked ( also, Silkwings can basically be any lgbt flag in color scheme except flags with black in them? Hivewings: Jewel Hive definitely does Drag like I know Dragons probably wouldn’t have drag because they don’t have the same form of exaggerated feminity humans do for Drag ( or masculinity drag kings i love you ) but fuck you they do they’re extra ( also I know drag isnt always lgbt but its so connected to our history I thought I would include )

Dune

Frank Herbert

Publisher: Ace Genre: sci fi Year: 1965

So I just finished Dune. I first read it in 5th grade and I’m glad I took the time to reread it but also... not.

A lot of the hot takes about this book revolve around the white savior narrative but this book is a criticism of the white savior narrative. The only problem is that to criticize it, it includes the white savior narrative.

Paul, the main character, is the villain of the story. The interesting thing is that his opponents are also villains: imperialism has rendered the universe flawed with no obvious “good guy.”

Paul is definitely a white boy power fantasy. He is trained in all manner of fighting and his mother’s magic, but of course he surpasses her and eventually can see all of time: past-present-future. What starts as a boy’s quest to avenge his father becomes a new emperor’s takeover of the universe.

The first half of the novel is unbearably slow. So much time is dedicated to politics and such tiny machinations it comes as a shock when they are betrayed and the House Atreides falls to ruin. It really feels like the stakes are so high because we as the reader were invested in these politics only for them to become useless. But then the book just blasts forward so fast and abandons that attention to detail in order to skip ahead in time all of the sudden Paul is married with a baby. We don’t get to witness his rise of power within the Fremen, which makes sense if you’re looking at this story through the anti-white-savior lens. The story focuses on Paul’s rise to power as an evil dictator, so the politics of the Fremen aren’t really as important, but it’s such a jarring switch of pace.

It also completely escaped me the first time, idk how because it’s not subtle, but the lesser baddie is gay—but not really. The evil Vladimir Harkonnen, who enslaved an entire planet and who is the colonizer supreme has a taste for little boys. This is supposed to highlight his unnaturalness: at one point he tells his men to drug a slave boy and put him in his room because he’s “not interested in wrestling”. That and the fact that he’s fat are supposed to signal to us that he’s evil, and it just really doesn’t sit well. Yes, gays can be evil, but you get the sense that this isn’t that—we’re supposed to be disgusted with the fact that he’s gay. For me it was the fact that they’re just boys, but you just know how the author thinks about queerness.

But on the other hand, it’s strangely progressive. One of the main characters, Lady Jessica, is one of the most powerful characters in the story and has a lot of her own agency, and yet at the same time how Herbert treats women really doesn’t sit well. Lady Jessica is a witch of the Bene Gessirit, who has cool powers and is part of a religious order. Her storyline is awesome. But although she physically fights a few times, again it’s very clear how Herbert views women. There are no female soldiers or just regular women around—even when they are physically capable they are still limited to other roles: mother, wife, priestess. There are just no regular women they way there are men.

Yet the final lines of the book are dedicated to the women: Lady Jessica, although beloved by the Duke, was never married to him and only a concubine. Minor spoiler: [ And when Paul marries someone he doesn’t love at the end of the book, his mother consoles the one he does love: “We who carry the name concubine, history will call us wives.”

I am fascinated by Dune's portrayal of religion: in that it’s entirely skeptical. In the book the Bene Gessirit are an intergalactic organization that want to bring about a powerful being through complicated breeding and genes. In order to do this, they go to planets and seed religions, and both Paul and Lady Jessica know this. Paul’s position as the Lisan al Gaib is literally a fake religion that the Bene Gessirit planted in their culture thousands of years ago and—even though both Paul and Lady Jessica know this, Paul actually begins to think he is the Lisan al Gaib and Jessica just kind of….lets him.

And Paul is so sure he’s the messiah and his visions are accurate but there’s literally no indication he’s actually seeing the future, he’s just kinda really confident about it.

All in all I enjoyed the macro political machinations and the really cool worldbuilding of Arrakis. But as someone who grew up religious I also think this book is too subtle. Paul is the villain but I guarantee 85% of white men who read this will come away thinking he’s the hero.

I understand what it was trying to do, I just don’t think it did it completely successfully. And while I understand it’s considered a classic and revolutionary in the genre, I’m not interested in reading a straight white man’s take on politics and the universe when there’s so much out there that interests me more.

doesn’t the concept of “allosexual privilege” fall apart when applied to LGBT sexuality? it is quite literally illegal in many countries to have gay sex, we’re treated by conservatives like indecent and degenerate “groomers” just for existing, the representation/expression of same-sex sexuality in media is still heavily censored to this day… i could go on but i’m sure you get the point. the thing about “allonormativity” is that it isn’t “everyone should be having sex”, it’s “sex should be between a man and a woman, both white and able-bodied, in a monogamous and vanilla relationship”. and ANYONE who falls outside of that depiction of sexuality can feel alienated and punished by society, not just ace/aro people.

Respectfully, genuinely, two things.

The first being that you seem to presume I disagree with you on the concept that Allonormativity is bigger than “everyone should be having sex.” I’m assuming you didn’t take much of a look at my blog because I pretty specifically reblogged something like, yesterday, dealing with exactly that issue. Allonormativity and heteronormativity and amatonormativity and cisnormativity are all words picking out more specific pieces of the same concept—restrictive norms and normativity, general. I won’t go so far as to say that allonormativity requires that sex be with the “right person in the right way” (cisgender, heterosexual, PiV), because that’s very well addressed by heteronormativity, but there is something to be said about it requiring the “right amount” of sex (greater than 0, but less than a vaguely defined “too much”) and of course the expectation of sexual attraction and that attraction being acted upon. There are ways this entangles with aromanticism and alloromanticism, too, but I will focus here on the aspect I can personally speak to, which is asexuality. (But aros, know I’m formally including you in my analyses elsewhere.)

Which brings me to the second thing—intersectionality, it should go without saying (but never seems to when allonormativity is the topic) complicates things and compounds oppressions and changes the nature of oppression and oppressed experience. Just as a trans gay man experiences oppression differently than a cis gay man—no one would (no one who gets it, anyway) dare suggest the cis gay man isn’t oppressed. But his oppression will look different from a trans gay man. Allosexuality doesn’t magically override homophobia or something.

I will admit that a lot of people do have a hard time understanding how a “privileged group” can experience oppression uniquely according to their “privileged identity,” because for some reason we’ve taken intersectionality to refer only to those oppressed identities compounding on each other. But I would never even dare suggest that Black men do not experience oppression on the basis of their manhood—the racism they face is uniquely shaped by their being men. They still hold a privileged identity in the sense that they do not have sexism and misogyny to work against (assuming they’re cisgender—but that’s a whole conversation unto itself) whereas Black women do, but it would be entirely incorrect to suggest they see no oppressive forces that are uniquely tied to their being men—specifically Black men. We do not have perfect language to discuss this fact, so I hope I’ve explained my point here well enough to connect it to the question of allonormativity and allosexual privilege.

To bring that point all the way home, an allosexual gay cisgender non-disabled white man experiences homophobia, and that homophobia has been and can still be extremely deadly, and he is still absolutely oppressed for his sexual attraction to other men. I would never even begin to deny that. And, in the same way I described above, his experience of homophobic oppression will be inherently shaped by his privileged identities. This includes his being allosexual, and it also includes his being a man, and it also includes his being white, and so on. It’s not sufficient to point out that he doesn’t have to experience, for example, the compounded oppression of sexism and homophobia the way a lesbian woman does (this is true, but insufficient). The homophobia experienced by men is uniquely man-shaped. The homophobia experienced by cis men is uniquely cis-man-shaped. The homophobia experienced by allosexual cis men is uniquely allosexual-cis-men shaped. Ad infinitum. It doesn’t make it not homophobia.

But let’s go ahead and consider an asexual gay cisgender non-disabled white man, and we have now added another deviation from the “norm” to this experience. And where allonormativity will open him up to all the same evils of homophobia as the allosexual man (because allonormativity—and amatonormativity—is the basis upon which people will associate his being gay with his having gay sex regardless of whether or not that is even on the table for him, and for many homophobes, it remains that gay sex is the thing they object so passionately to), his asexuality complicates things further as he additionally experiences further and different marginalizing and oppressive forces due to his deviation from the normed experience (bonus points if he’s sex repulsed). And yeah, for him, as a gay asexual, this will look unique and likely very frequently take the form of lateral aggression (and I currently would suggest that it’s lateral aggression) in his own gay community. His experience of homophobia will be asexual shaped, and his experience of aphobia will be gay shaped; intersectionality, remember, is not Oppression + Oppression = 2 Oppression.

You see, the thing that makes theorizing and describing Allosexual privileges and allonormativity so complicated is the way heteronormativity is inherently implicated in allonormativity.

As a side note, I’m just a beginner (maybe moderate level at this point... but I hesitate to call myself that) to theory in the grand scheme of things; I still would say I have a lot to read and think about and deeply consider before I even begin to write theory on a formal level. I’m not saying I’m gonna be 100% on all points, and in fact being challenged on details will only help me move forward in carving out this idea further. Flat rejection or the notion of its existence based on specious or surface level recognitions of how things work, however, won’t. Main reason being: I’m asexual. I’ve been openly asexual for more than half of my life so far. I have listened to all kinds of asexual voices. We are seeing things and patterns in society and the makeup of power relations that allosexual people are, like any group that doesn’t experience a specific form of marginalization, unable to and disincentivized from seeing (I think immediately of Peggy McIntosh’s White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack for insight on this). My personal experiences as an asexual queer existing in allosexual queer and non-queer spaces aren’t going to be written off just because it’s unpleasant to become aware of a way in which you might have been unwittingly participating in oppression and marginalization. I won’t, frankly, allow for that to happen to me or to any of us.

So that being said, the fact that heteronormativity is inherently implicated in allonormativity (as well as, again, amatonormativity and cisnormativity), leads me to put forward the notion that it, too, negatively affects allosexual people, even where they might have allosexual privilege. Because there’s this weird thing that’s happening where, to the heterosexual “normals,” many allosexuals who aren’t heterosexual can at times experience what I’m willing to provisionally call “Aheterosexuality,”where the homophobic focus is less on their having gay sex/sexual attraction and more on their not having straight sex/sexual attraction (this is oversimplified, but I hope it suffices). It’s not super common (again for most homophobic people the issue is being gay and having gay attraction and having gay sex), but I’m not going to pretend it’s not a factor worth considering.

However, at the end of the day, it comes back to these being different parts of identity and experience and different experiences of oppression. The reality is that the allo gay man doesn’t have to deal with aphobia while the asexual gay man does—it can be put forward as simple as that. Or to think of it another way, a bisexual man has to deal with biphobia and homophobia, whereas a gay man does not have to contend with biphobia but does have to contend with homophobia, and in fact may perpetuate biphobia either intentionally or not—this concept is the most parallel one I can think of. No one would dare suggest the gay man doesn’t experience homophobia or has an insignificant risk of violence or anything just because he doesn’t experience bisexual oppression. And no one would suggest it of the allosexual gay man either.

Twisted Wonderland Oc/Mc

Eden H. Grey (He/They) 

My Twisted Wonderland MC aka the Ramshackle Dorm prefect! (Oouughh my little scrunkly!! My gay little blorbo!!!) 

He's very loosely based on Chernabog from Fantasia! 

At first glance Eden is, well, a little plain. At most he might come off a bit ‘quirky’ (read: nurodivergent) and he’s just not what you would call flashy or charismatic. He’s also queer and has only recently come to terms with being nonbinary so he’s still working on how he wants to present himself.

Mostly he's just kind of a nerd. His interests include computer games, fantasy books, and obscure discontinued toys. He likes scary movies and spooky music and prefers to dress in all black. He likes drawing, used to go ghost hunting, and if you call something a ‘dragon’ when it is CLEARLY a wyvern or worse yet a wyrm you're never going to hear the end of it. 

Eden is pretty friendly and approachable and others often come to him for help and advice. He's always happy to help, even if he’s not particularly well suited for the job. Eden is a chronic people-pleaser and if you make him feel useful (or suggest he’s somehow been a burden) he’s guaranteed to give your request his absolute best (even if it means compromising his own well-being.) 

He does his best to appear calm and easygoing even when terribly overwhelmed and prefers to keep the focus off himself in social situations. A bit awkward and bad at small talk, he would much rather jump straight into talking about things he and others have a genuine interest in.

If he finds himself in the spotlight for too long he ends up extremely flustered and the reaction is doubled when it comes to praise or romantic affection. The fact that NRC is full of cute guys with cool magic powers really doesn't do him any favors as a shy stumbling mess or as a bit of a pushover. 

Occasionally Eden’s pleasant aura will give way to a sarcastic edge and he has an impressive knack for cutting someone down to size once they’ve agitated him (usually some hard truth the person needs to confront for their own good. Well, mostly anyway…) 

Despite being a pretty good judge of character Eden tries his hardest to see the best in people and give them the benefit of the doubt (this unsurprisingly backfires on him frequently while at NRC.) 

While Eden might have “all the magical talent of a box of crayons” (thanks, Ace) he’s clearly a pretty good mediator and he seems to have a curious effect on ‘otherworldly’ creatures (such as ghosts and monsters like Grim) that makes them a little more agreeable than normal. 

Although obviously shaken, Eden seemed to take his arrival to Twisted Wonderland in stride (once he realized it was all really happening and not just a particularly wild dream, that is.) His life hadn’t exactly been in a great place and if he was going to have to go around feeling lost or out of place somewhere, at least things in TW were…different? Interesting? Look, there was suddenly a whole weird new world to discover where magic is real, ghosts are commonplace and dragons might exist?!

Sure, his first instinct was to want to get home- the devil you know etc etc, but as his stay keeps extending the idea of leaving TW seems to grow a little less attractive everyday… Not that he’s ready to admit that of course, not even to himself. Still, maybe if he learned enough, stayed useful enough, got comfortable enough… Maybe he could convince himself to leave his old life behind.
