I cannot describe to you how much of a beautifully written fic this is, probably one the best I’ve ever read. Every single chapter is engaging and shocking in the best way. They got every character right and the story their telling is so cool I’m so excited to see more. I highly recommend this fic if you’re a fan of Lego Monkie kid!

Hey! 1500th post woo!

Yea so I know Azure canonically kinda grooms Wukong (and the monkie kids to-) but STILL

Like, MAN do I love me some big papa lion.

And you know what in fanfic, we can have that! Here, he didn't groom anyone! He has hiss-hiss noodle baby and his big bird to kis-

And in 'Of Blood and Bones' we get that! Yay!

(and a bunch of angst on the sides!...less yay!)

So, Azure is the jade emperor here and is doing (I hope) a rather good job at it, but he's very busy and stuff and in the fic, Mei is always trying to get her baba to rest (I think...it's been a while since I read the early chapters) and oh yeah! Turns out the dragon heiress got adopted by the Jade emperor and his consort themselves!

Hooray! (Way to climb the social ladder ig)

I have a headcanon that Mei would hang around Azure's neck like one of them taxidermied fox scarves the scary rich ladies have in movies... but...alive (obviously) or for my hinduism mythology nerds, the snake Shiva wears around his neck like a necklace

...or to my papa's pizzeria nerds, the live mink around Krystal's neck

Anyways, Azure's fluffy mane make a great resting place and Mei loves to stay close to her Baba! So win win! It also acts as a way for her to unhinge her scary snake jaw if someone tries to drag him away for even more work.

Since Azure's so busy, at times when his arms are full I think like sometimes he lets his instincts get the better of him and nom the child up (Lions do pick up their cubs by the scruff) but at times his aim isn't the best and just grabs her abdomen and just settles for it

He looks so frazzled and Peng has to step in to roast their himbo husband and help fix things up

Inkyfeathers I imagine would be just like Ratchet and Optimus from TFP: I will follow you into every battle with only mild complaining

(Hell, I wonder if the aquirement of Mei was just like:

Peng: Azure, what the hell are you doing now

Azure: I assure you love, I have absolutely nothing to hide. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a meeting to attend to-

Peng: Hold on, your majesty. Last I checked, your shirt didn't look that lumpy

Azure: it just got ruffled up, that's all. No need to make a fuss about it-

Peng: And shirts don't move either.

Azure: wait, we can talk about it-

Mei: ('u')/

Peng: Azure, mind telling me why there is a dragon in your shirt)

And Boy, as much as I want to open up a dang KFC on Peng's corpse, Inkyfeathers just does SOMETHING to me that I can't resist

There's not much to say about their designs, I wanted to give Azure a more royal purple is all!

Book Review: Of Blood and Bones

This book was recommended to me on Tiktok was a creator i love (Spirituali.tea) as a good "intermediate witch" book. It does not cover the very bases but instead assume you already have a good handle on the most basics things, but introduces well the darker aspect of witchcraft, in theory and in practice. That is I think the best point of this book. Many beginner witches are warned not to touch hexing, binding, blood magic, bone magic, death magic etc without knowing how or why. This book offers a great perspective on the theory of all those things, how and why they could be used, what benefits they provide, or at the very least what the knowledge of them is good for even if you dont practice any of it. The practical spells all offer potential swaps, for things you might not want to use like meat, blood, bones or human fluids. I haven't done any of them, but i did get inspired by some to make my own banishment warning oil and war water. This is overall a pretty good book for someone interested in the darker side of witchcraft. If you only want to learn about it and not practice it regularly though, i recommend borrowing it from a lbrary or a friend. It was to me more of an interesting one time read rather than a practice staple, but someone who want to go more in depth with dark moon magic or blood/bone magic might want to keep it nearby for a while.

quick question for witchblr, specifically people who are knowledgeable about hoodoo practices: i’ve seen the books “of blood and bones” by kate freuler and “utterly wicked” by dorothy morrison recommended by a lot of people for those who want to learn about baneful magic. however, i’ve also seen a few other people say both books are appropriative, specifically of certain elements of hoodoo. what are y’all’s takes on this? are they worth reading?

So I'm reading Of Blood and Bones by Kate Freuler because, as you could tell by my url, I'm all about blood and if I see it in a witchcraft book title, I'm in. I was told it's a good book. It claims "This book explores topics such as the ethical use of animal parts and bones, blood magick, dark moon energy, and other rarely discussed aspects of witchcraft". But I've only gotten to the 1st chapter and it's already disappointing.

The author states "I’ve heard it said that the dark moon is a time for rest and little magickal work. Likewise, when you’re going through emotional upheaval and hardship, it’s best to put your wand away and wait it out. This seems strange to me, as these energies have so much to offer". Note the use of "magickal" which is already giving me a certain ick , but at least we can agree on something! working with the dark moon shouldn't be feared. Harnessing "negative" emotions to get a positive outcome is incredibly useful. When you're going through emotional upheaval and hardship... is precisely when you should be reaching for your wand (ehh, not a wand type of witch, but still) to find a way to fix things in your favor.

And so I'm expecting the next thing the author will say is something along the lines of that but instead, I get: "...shadow work! it's a good time to look inwards and journal!"... and while that could be useful for some, sure, that's not even witchcraft. That's jungian psychology and you're still not reaching for your proverbial wand to get shit done. It's akin to saying "see a therapist" and in fact, you should at least recommend getting help from a professional if we're talking psychology... but the book doesn't even mention it.

Does it eventually get better than this? Will I be able to salvage anything from the book? Stay tuned to find out.

While we're at it, friendly reminder that witchcraft is not therapy, and it's not a substitute for therapy either. If your psychological health is compromised, you should always seek professional help.

First a possible scene where Mk meets up with Macaque after the incident. I was picturing Macaque being held at LBDs place and Mk sneaking up to him.

Second is after the dreamscape chapter.

I was thinking so much about if LBD would treat Macaques wound or just let it be and what plans they had and what would they do with him. But Macaque only just escaped before they could do anything lol.
