so initially jericho was like an alternate eden as I hadn't made a trigun version of eden yet but now that I have I'm just gonna go wild w jerichos character now. anyway I've decided he IS a little freak hes an insect that was cut off from the hivemind somehow & was adopted by a girl as her little brother
still keeping him working as a plant scientist to walk in her footsteps in the present day however I hate it when girls die so I'm considering an alternative to her fate like maybe she had to move away or smth..
#smudgy.txt#oc posting#oc: jericho#grrr but his whole Thing was that he loved her so much that when she died he set aside his own life to#live out her dream of working w plants#as well as her role as Eldest Sibling/taking care of the family#which isnt great on his mental health (when i still had him as a human anyway..) but hes scared to do anything else#for fear of losing what little bit of her he had#(as she was always so busy studying + kept him at a distance in the hopes that he wouldnt go down her path#of becoming a Big Time Scientist to please her parents who wanted her to have a 'real' job#that she pursued long after itd burned her out)#GRRR i feel like theres got to be a way to put both stories together but brain feels too small rn to think of it. whateverrrr

TPN Brainrots part 1:
Another TPN manga panel redraw, but this time everyone goes down with me (because it's sad).
Also part one of my 'wonderful' tpn theories and head canons. It'll be long😅. There will be manga spoilers so please, read at your own risk😊.
First character I go through is... Ray.
He is one of the most complicated characters I ever saw (all tpn characters are, tbh). I always thought that people who have photographic memory are so lucky. Ray showed me that it's both a blessing and the curse.
Like in the picture above. You can clearly see that the first 2 kid waving at his direction. It's strange to know that there was a time when the Trio were one of the young kids and not the older ones. My first head canon is that Ray tried to save more kids, not just Emma and Norman when he was younger. When the blond haired boy leaves (first panel) he looks like he is about to cry (also the Trio is around 4 or 6) but when the other kids get 'adopted' Ray keeps his head low most of the frames (I'm convinced that when the second kid left he was already working as Isabella's spy.)
Ray coloration explained:
Purple eyes are self explanatory to me. I started draw him with purple eyes as soon as I found out he is Isabella's son. Purple in the hair and freckles? Well... I'm still very, very convinced that Leslie didn't die (at least not when he left the House). I always think about his situation, like what Norman got into with Lambda. The Ratri-clan is big but they need outsiders, to be soldiers, scientists, etc. And since girls from the Houses can only become Sisters and Moms... maybe some boys can become scientists and soldiers. (I can't believe I'm writing this but think about Andrew🤢... he was 100% not Ratri yet he could become an adult). So by this logic I believe Leslie could grow up too and (because I'm a sucker for happiness) he met Isabella again at some point.
Ray turning away:
On the second frame he is not looking at the girl who is leaving, but to the opposite direction. Why? Notice something else? Yes, Norman is missing too. Gilda has her winter jumper on so I figure Norman got sick again. Ray priorities his friends safety over everything else.
Also notice how Emma and Norman slowly get into the middle of the frame while Mom/Isabella get out of it? Pretty strong metaphor. It's the perfect example of 'Blood related family ≠ real family'. And while I'm a RayEmma shipper (obviously aged up version) I would never forget about Norman. He is as important to Ray as Emma. This Trio sticks together no matter what.
(older manga colouring ⬇️)
Now onto the hearth breaking stuff:
Ray's relationship with Isabella:
This deleted scene with Ray and Ayshe lives rent free in my head. Like there are two people with similar family situations and the one who lived int the middle of nowhere with a demon parent thinks positively about their parent, while the other, who grew up in a comfortable home like space with a human parent, thinks the opposite.
"But to me, she was always a monster"– Ray.
Like ufff... This sentence hits real hard. And it's low-key true from Ray perspective. He studied and read all the books in the House, not because he was interested, but because he had to. Norman is a genius, Emma learns real fast, Ray does everything he can to always get max points on his tests. But he also secretly planning his friends excape. Collects scraps of technology to build the device which makes them able to excape, plans his own 💀 carefully, so no one else will get hurt and on a top of that he is 'spying' for Isabella. Sacrifices people he wanted to protect. I can't imagine that inside panic when he didn't get max scores to that one test. I'm sure he was happy because Norman and Emma got their regular scores, but deep down he felt like he failed.
My head canon here is that Ray always gets nightmares if he is alone or in an unsafe place. And 'thanks' to his perfect memory his nightmares build up from actual memories (like we see that in the Seven Wall Arc). Also he doesn't get sick often but when he does... it's like a memory fuelled fever dream, with hallucinations and etc.
Ray's healing journey starts after the Jailbreak Arc. As soon as Mom is not around anymore, he ever so slowly starts to let down his guard and starts to show more and more emotions. His relationship with Yuugo/Mister is like a greatest archivment in his case. The playful, sarcastic 'arguments' and the way he openly said his opinion on things in front of Yuugo and Lucas. Shows how much he changed and opened up.
Isabella on the other hand... her change of heart and feelings were a mistery almost to the very end. To be honest I hated her most of the time, until the Back to Grace Field Arc. (Older manga colouring again⬇️😅)
Two things in this page which are very important.
1: Ray's guard is up again in no time, when he sees Isabella, while her emotionless mask is cracking. This is the first time we get a little inside of how she really feels about Ray.
2: Flashback of the two most important things that connects them. The song and the way they were forced to sacrifice others to stay alive.
The lullaby is very important, because it's calming and feels very intimate (like a normal parent-child relationship should be).
You also can't convince me otherwise that Ray didn't hummed this lullaby at least once in the B06-32 shelter to help the youngest kids fall asleep.
And now... onto the last picture. Their goodbye.
Saddest part ever! Never forgiving for this decision.
Ray and Isabella were never allowed to talk even two short sentences with each other without any consequences. In the House they had to play their assigned roles. Then they didn't see each other for almost 2 years. Finally they had to save half of the team from getting unalived... And they moment they would have time the last twist happens... leaving us with a sad ending.
Epilogue and Human World Arc...does little to compensate. Although I can't get over the fact that Yuugo's, Conny's and Isabella's 'ghosts' helped Ray found Emma in the Human World.
Speaking of finding Emma. My last head canon for Ray is the following;
When they found out that Emma lost all of her memories from the Demon World. Ray couldn't help himself but whisper a "I wish this happened to me". And everyone looks at him with an understanding smile thinking he blames himself for this... But in reality he really just selfishly thought (only for seconds) that he could forget everything happened on the other side.
Okay. That's all. Sorry for the supper long post and I'm forever thankful if you read through my brainrots 🥰😘. Also let me know if I should cover more characters like this. I'll obviously do Emma and Norman but if there any other characters you want to see please let me know🥰🤩💖.

The Weight Clinic
A fat man who's unsure about losing weight signs up for a very unusual treatment program led by a dominant doctor with an agenda of her own. (SSBHM feedee, SSBBW feeder, implicit XWG. CW: Dubious consent, drugs, medical and deathfeedist elements.)
This story was written swiftly in response to an ask on my old blog: "A man signs up for a blind study of a weight loss drug (he doesn't want to lose weight, but you know how society is.) Unfortunately for him, it's run by a less than honest BBW scientist who decides to fatten him up instead." When I read that, I had to immediately sit down and transcribe the thunderbolt of inspiration before it passed. This could easily turn into a much longer story, and now that I've created this little fictional universe, I might come back to it some day. The dubcon is because I wanted to write a dommy mad scientist feeder, but if the story continued, our protagonist would definitely come to enjoy it and realize that she was right all along.
(April 2024: This is by far the most popular story I've written, and I'm moving it here so I can centralize likes/reblogs and deactivate my defunct account. I'm slowly working on a sequel as the inspiration strikes me.)
Please read the content warnings. If dubcon and medical/deathfeedist themes upset you, please don't click.
If you like it, on the other hand, please reblog.
--
He sighed inwardly as the receptionist led him past the double doors and into the medical suite of the clinic.
He didn't want to be doing this. Being fat had never bothered him. He had been fat since childhood, and as an adult he embraced the freedom of eating whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. In fact, there were times when he secretly enjoyed being fat. There was something profoundly satisfying about the way his belly was soft and heavy in his lap when he sat, the way his double chin was like a cushion when he tilted his head. Lately it seemed like he was inching closer and closer to 400 pounds whenever he stepped on the scale, and sometimes a part of him even looked forward to it.
But he was getting sick of how the rest of the world treated him. At Thanksgiving dinner, after he had gone back to the side table for a fourth helping of mashed potatoes, his parents had given him a fierce tag-team lecture about how his weight was out of control and he was overdue for a diet. Buying new clothes was getting expensive. And while the thought of 400 seemed strangely intriguing sometimes -- that's only a hundred pounds away from a quarter ton, he thought to himself -- he worried that if he got any bigger, he'd become one of those fat guys who was so big that they had trouble walking and had to use a scooter or wheelchair to get around.
There was a wheelchair in the corner of the room that the receptionist led him into. He couldn't help notice its gigantic width. "This is the suite where you'll be staying." The room looked like it was outfitted for a patient much bigger than he was. The king-sized bed was equipped with a bariatric Hoyer lift, and in addition to the usual IV bags and oxygen tanks, there were all sorts of medical machines he didn't recognize. The door to the bathroom and shower was only a few steps away from the edge of the bed, and he noticed a stainless steel railing to allow someone to steady themselves as they walked.
Noticing his expression, the receptionist continued. "You'll be staying here in the regular suite, since you don't have any serious mobility issues. Further down the hallway there's a second suite for larger patients. Both rooms will be kept operational during your stay in case there are any complications. As we discussed earlier, you'll be forbidden to leave the premises for the duration of the study. We can't have you going out to eat and breaking your diet."
He sighed inwardly again. He was already thinking of his usual Friday night meal, nachos and mozzarella sticks followed by a hamburger and fries at his favorite diner, washed down with a milkshake or two with each course. I guess I am a binge eater, he thought to himself sadly. This isn't going to be fun, but if I don't get myself under control, I really am going to end up weighing 400.
As if reading his mind, the receptionist gave a prim smile. "I hope you'll find the results of the study to be satisfactory. Dr. Moore is excited to be taking you on as a patient. Come back to the front desk with me and we'll get your paperwork finalized."
They returned to the waiting room through the double doors and he sat down on a double-wide chair to review the clipboard full of paperwork. HIPAA, check. Records release form, check. Insurance card, check.
After several more signatures, he came to the final document on the clipboard. Consent to Experimental Treatment, the header read. He skimmed through the legal verbiage, trying his best to take note of anything significant. The clinic was a private enterprise, he read. Dr. Moore had affiliations with several prestigious universities, but he waived his right to hold them liable for treatment outcomes. No guarantees were made as to results. "The Moore Clinic program is designed to help patients reach a satisfactory body weight through the application of both physiological and cognitive-emotional treatments. To ensure accurate data collection and clinical efficacy, all care will be taken by the clinic staff to prevent external influences from interfering with treatment. Patients acknowledge that for the duration of the study they will be under the exclusive supervision of Dr. Moore. Her permission will be required before patients can contact outside parties via phone or Internet."
He thought to himself for a moment. Well, I'm no good at sticking to a diet on my own. I might as well give this a shot. He signed his name on the last page of the form.
"Congratulations." The receptionist smiled as he turned over the stack of forms. "We're glad to have you here. I'm sorry Dr. Moore couldn't be here to welcome you to the first night of the study, but she had another engagement. These are our nurses, Sandra and Kevin. They'll help you get settled."
Soon he was being ushered into the hospital suite by the two nurses. Sandra was short and curvaceous, Kevin tall and stocky, and he couldn't help notice that neither of them was skinny. Both of them were chubby, in fact. Chubby verging on fat. They gave him a hospital gown and a plastic bin to store his belongings in, then drew a curtain around the bed and waited patiently while he changed.
Naked beneath the loose-fitting hospital gown, he couldn't help being aware of how fat he was as the two nurses drew the curtain aside and began to prep him for the treatment. He could feel the softness of his belly against his thighs, the subtle motion of his rolls quivering, as Kevin attached electrodes to his moobs and belly. A fold of his fat upper arm brushed against his elbow as Sandra straightened his arm and swabbed to insert an IV. I'm going to miss all this, he thought to himself. If this works, I'll be just another skinny guy in a size M. I might even have abs. And I'll probably never eat mozzarella sticks again. As the drugs in the IV began to take hold, making him woozy and disoriented and sleepy, he couldn't help wondering if waking up skinny was going to feel like a nightmare.
--
"Well, well. My patient has finally come to."
From the slant of the light in the hospital suite, it was late afternoon. He lay in bed, still naked beneath his hospital gown, the IV tube still in his arm, the electrodes still on his chest. Staring down at him from the foot of the bed, an appraising smile on her face, was a fat woman. A very fat woman.
She wore a crisp white coat over a snug set of scrubs that did little to conceal how gigantic she was. Her stethoscope bounced against her enormous belly as she stepped around to the bedside and lowered herself onto a double-wide chair next to the IV bags. Her hair was pulled back in a neat ponytail, and her triple chins swayed and quivered as she craned her neck slightly to take a readout from one of the machines beside the bed, then bent her head down to type some notes on a tablet.
"Welcome to the clinic. I'm Dr. Moore."
He couldn't help but be baffled by her size. A private clinic specializing in weight loss, and she was the doctor in charge? She must have read the expression on his face, because she immediately burst out laughing. "Yes, I'm really Dr. Moore. And I'm very excited to have you as my patient." She scrolled through the tablet, her eyes moving rapidly as she reviewed his case file. "You're here for morbid obesity. You say you struggle with binge eating. And you're concerned that your weight is continuing to rise."
He nodded, feeling suddenly hazy. The anesthetic had worn off, but whatever else was in the IV was still taking effect.
"Tell me." Dr. Moore's voice was suddenly stern. "Did you come here to lose weight?"
"Yes." His throat went dry as he began to speak. He realized with a start that he was dreadfully thirsty, and something in Dr. Moore's tone made him nervous. "My primary care doctor says my goal weight is 180 pounds. I've tried a couple of different diets, but nothing worked."
"One hundred and eighty pounds?" Her voice was full of disbelief. "Oh, no, no, no. That won't do at all. I'm going to write you a new prescription."
His heart was suddenly pounding. He didn't like the way she was talking to him. "I think your goal weight should be… five hundred and eighty pounds. For a start."
He tried to speak but no words came out. His throat was terribly dry. Dr. Moore turned the tablet to face him. "See? Goal weight five hundred and eighty pounds." There it was on his patient chart, as clear as day. She smiled. "I think you must be disoriented. Did you know you've been under anesthesia for four days? The treatment takes time to take effect. I'm going to get you something to drink." Without rising from her chair, she reached to open a refrigerator by the side of the bed. He had seen it during his tour and had assumed it was full of syringes and dry ice, but it was full of… cups? Giant cardboard cups with straws, the kind a fast food restaurant might use for a soda or a milkshake. She reached out and grabbed two.
"Drink. This will help settle you down." He wrapped his lips around the straw and sucked eagerly, feeling a cool, sweet, creamy liquid flow down his throat, soothing the dryness. It was a milkshake, he realized. Then he realized that he was ravenously hungry.
"Yes, that's your appetite coming back. Or rather, coming to. It never left, but you've been getting your nutrients intravenously while you were under. We call that one the 'feedbag.'" She gestured to one of the IV bags that fed into the tube leading to his wrist. In the color scheme he had already come to recognize as the Moore Clinic's branding, it was stamped with the words: "HIGH CALORIE FORMULA."
His heart was still pounding, but he was feeling more relaxed now. He heard a rustling behind him and realized that Sandra, the nurse, was busy adjusting the proportions of the IV bags.
"Yes, that's a sedative." Dr. Moore smiled. "I thought it might help put you at ease while I explain the details of my treatment program." Her voice took on a firm and didactic tone, as if she were giving a lecture to an auditorium full of med students, but underneath it he felt that he could hear something almost… flirtatious?
"The Moore Clinic takes an unorthodox approach to the treatment of obesity. As a dual-certified endocrinologist and psychiatrist, I bring a unique perspective to both the metabolic and biosocial components of extreme weight gain." She paused. "Sandra, another high-calorie bag. Thank you." As the nurse replaced the now empty bag of formula, Dr. Moore continued. "Many of my patients arrive with deeply disordered cognitive attitudes towards body weight. They are unduly susceptible to social influences, preventing their full psychological individuation as a mentally well, hedonically satisfied obese person. They regard themselves as suffering from morbid obesity instead of enjoying it." She reached out to pat his belly. "I'm afraid you're a textbook case."
He could feel himself getting hazier and hazier until the world seemed to shrink to himself, the milkshakes and Dr. Moore. He couldn't tear himself away from her gaze as she continued to speak, her triple chins and dimpled fat cheeks quivering hypnotically as her eyes seemed to pierce right into him. "This is why the use of psychotropic drugs is a key component of my program. To fully undo the traumatic effects of societal fatphobia on my patients, I must be prepared to use the entire arsenal of modern psychopharmacology."
Sandra laughed, catching a hint of the shock on his face. "It's a real cocktail in these IV bags, honey. If Dr. Moore tried to sell this stuff at a nightclub, she'd be arrested."
The doctor smiled at her nurse. "That's right. Some of these are experimental drugs, and Federally scheduled. I'm fortunate to have a license, and a substantial research grant which pays for high-grade laboratory synthesis. And the same is true for my metabolic work."
She reached out and slipped a hand under his hospital gown, grabbing ahold of the fold of one of his moobs and squeezing playfully. Even through the increasingly powerful haze of the drug cocktail, he could feel himself blushing. "The other vector of cure," she continued, "is to address the body itself. Too many patients labor under the delusion that the unfortunate medical side effects of morbid obesity are somehow a reason they must lose weight." Her voice grew stern. "Nothing could be further from the truth. Obesity is not a disease. It's a lifestyle. And it's beautiful."
"But sometimes," she continued, a frown on her face, "my patients resist. This is why I require a minimum of four weeks' supervised stay at the clinic. The setting here accustoms my patients to the possibility of living with bariatric equipment as a full-time lifestyle." He looked around the room, suddenly seeing it with new eyes. "And while my patients get used to the pace and challenges of their new lifestyle, my metabolic treatment can do its work."
Despite the sedatives, his heart was pounding faster than ever. Her words seemed to move as slowly as molasses, her chins swaying back and forth like a pendulum, as her eyes gazed into his. "There's more than just calories and party drugs in those bags, you know. There's drugs to shock your system, break down your metabolism, destroy your body's resistance to gaining ever more weight. Even if you left the clinic right now, all the diets in the world couldn't fix your metabolism. My treatment has taken you to the point of no return."
Just barely, as if fighting his way through a slowly moving fog, he managed to gasp out a single word. "When?"
"When?" Dr. Moore threw her head back in laughter, exposing a beautiful smile, her cheeks and chins quivering with mirth. "Darling, I told you -- you were under anesthesia for four days, and my treatment works quickly. It's already happened."
He tried to protest, but before he could speak another word, the fog seemed to close around him and he drifted into a deep anesthetic sleep. When he dreamed, he dreamed of being fatter than ever.

Still thinking about a Star trek TOS Firefly au. So I'm gonna have fun writing it out.
I love the dynamic between Mal, Zoe, and Wash, so that's certainly becoming the triumvirate. Mal > Jim, Zoe > Spock, Wash > Bones. However Wash's job doesn't make sense for Bones so he's going to change to doctor.
Jim was on Tarsus 4 and suffered the same as in canon, famine leads to who lives lottery and he wasn't chosen but survived anyway. I think that makes perfect sense in the Firefly universe too, but I think unlike in trek Kodos is celebrated by the federation in Firefly for making tough choices and leading in a strong way. So he's not on the run, he's a constant background side threat who's still in power. The face of the federation in this version, but not the head of it. You feel me
After Tarsus, Jim and Bones met and became mates. I think Bones moved to a big fancy planet for his wife and child after a bit. In the meant time, we have Spock!
This got massive, have a readmore
Spock is the result of eugenic experiments (there's no aliens in Firefly 😢) like the serenity thing that the og story is about (but generational eugenics not brain poking)(because I want there to be many others, just also in hiding and with their own political factions and opinions) but his resulted in Vulcan-like stuff. I think he's still got the pointy ears and has excessively strong emotions that he's learnt to hide completely cos he was raised in a medical facility by cold scientists instead of parents and love. There's schools of thought about them, some want to integrate, some want them exterminated, some want them to form their own society. The federation stance is these eugenic things don't exist and if you see one kill it because it officially doesn't exist. So Spock is forced into hiding and hasn't really had a chance to form his broader opinion, cos it's academic anyway. They're all hiding now.
So, Spock's escaped (more on that later) and in hiding. He meets Jim and they click, probably meeting in some silly battle. I reckon Spock has ways to get away from the feds that Jim wants to learn, so Jim pushes for them to team up. They spend some time together either on someone else's ship or on a smaller ship just them two.
After a while that comes to an end and they put together a crew and buy a ship together. They hire Sulu and Chekhov who are a criminal team who need to get off this rock very fast please. Chekhov can fly wonderfully and has enough engineering knowledge that they're like hey we maybe don't need someone in the engine room!
Sulu is a jack of all trades. It takes a few months for them to realise how useful he is, he always has a skill they need and always knows someone who'll play as a contact. Absolutely invaluable.
Eventually the engine breaks beyond Chekhov's skill to fix and they've all heard of Scotty. Everyone knows about Scotty. I think this would make a good episode one.
They work Sulu's contacts and find Scotty who is, lo and behold, having a drink with his mate disgraced Doctor McCoy. Spock, immediate dislike, this guy is a doctor. Jim, holy shit! Bones! Why the fuck aren't you emailing me back!?
Turns out Bones has gotten divorced and threw a bit of a fit in a hospital and can't work on a core planet anymore. He agrees to join the crew and Scotty has some issue that forms most of the episode plot and joins too cos hey, crims gotta keep moving
The ep ends with meeting Uhura, who manages a lot of the residual resistance movement's comms. She's the most political of the bunch, but Jim is absolutely in agreement and so chuffed to meet her even tho he's never been too war-y before. Scotty and Sulu already know her. She takes a kind of Inara role on the ship, but she's not companioning, she's boosted the comms in the shuttle and is continuing this work. It's great for her cos she gets to move around and be hard to catch, and it's great for the ship cos it gives them access to loads of underground people who aren't the hated federation
I also think she helped Spock break out back in the day. I'm not sure if she was part of it and they've met, or if she helped run things so she knows Spock but he doesn't know her. She's gonna be their reason for getting accidentally involved in larger things in the story and why they get more altruistic with their jobs. Spock also pulls them into some of the eugenic stuff
I reckon episode two needs some Spock eugenic stuff to happen so that Bones can solidify himself as on team Spock in action even if he has a go at Spock. Cos everyone else follows Jim's orders and Jim is team Spock, so I think Bones needs a chance to prove it. To great danger to himself ofc.
Repeat characters (like in Firefly they have Badger and Saffron who rock up as major non crew characters) are Chapel and Rand. I think Chapel is still on a core planet as a nurse. I would have her join the crew in season two, to look for her missing husband. But in season one she can be an insider informant for the hospital heist episode, which they do mainly for the medical equipment cos Bones has like nothing to treat people with. And maybe Spock has some additional medical needs that Bones needs to learn (Spock hates this)
Rand is like a bit of Saffron energy but less totally untrustworthy. I think she works them for her benefit but in a way where when they meet again they're like hey Janice you're not allowed on the ship but it's great to see you! Like, maybe she hijacks them to get her somewhere or stows away super inconveniently. Or maybe she just steals from them old school style and has a very all's fair in love and war vibe about it. She just doesn't hold any resentment, so it's hard to resent her
If I were to cast this show I'd cast Bones and Jim and women because I think it needs more women, might as well put them in positions of power, and honestly I think Spock's character with the emotional repression and all would change being cast as a woman whereas the others wouldn't. Spock's character in this is gonna be playing into stereotypes and expectation to stay in hiding, and those change as a woman
I've definitely got less tension on board than Firefly. There's no Jayne equivalent making life hard for everyone, but you could write an arc in for Chekhov like that if you wanted to. He could go from disliking the danger Spock and Uhura bring to absolutely admiring them over like two seasons. Could be interesting, but it's not got much to do with trek really
There's no shipboard romance here either. There could be something cool in the Scotty/Uhura that happened later in trek canon. Maybe they've got romantic history, so when she joins the ship there's tension and they just fall into bed together pretty quickly. But I'd only put that in if it added something else to the story, which it might! I'm not actually writing, I'm brainstorming
And similar to what the did in Firefly I think Spock/Bones makes the most sense. Cos we don't need proof that Spock and Jim understand each other, they're captain and first officer. They have each other's back absolutely. And similarly with Jim and Bones, they'd have old loyalty and friendship to draw on. And I think they also just obviously get along. But Spock and Bones could do with some plot prodding along, so I'd do something like the Simon/Kaylee romance where there's tension and clear desire but they're bad at making it happen. There's too much in the way. But it adds reason for Bones to have Spock's back (cos we're coming at at the start of their friendship, not years into their five years mission) and you can occasionally see Spock relaxing the emotional wall with someone other than Jim as he develops more serious a crush
I want to see! The Niska episode where Jim and Spock get nicked and tortured, and Bones goes in to trade for them back. He can only afford one but true to the Empath ep he just trades himself and volunteers for the torture.
I also want to see a Jaynestown style ep where Scotty or Sulu are the hero. I think probably Scotty. He'd be easy to write as selfish in a he only cares about tech kinda way and then to find that he accidentally did this would be funny. He also likes to keep a low profile generally so it's extra hilarious
Hospital heist ep, with Chapel cameo. I don't think anyone's handing Spock over to the feds, but maybe they get caught and Chekhov tries to trade Spock for their freedom? Not in a pre planned malicious, but more that he just doesn't prioritise Spock's safety over everyone else's. He sees it as a last ditch leverage effort, for the greater good. Could be good drama
Saffron style ep with Rand but she steals from them. I do think that's hilarious, showing them be the mark. And I'd let her win, leave them stranded without whatever thing it is she fleeced and having to find a new magical tech engine bit. But hey she left some booze as an apology and made out with Jim so it's not too bad
I really like Firefly

break areelu vorlesh's ass down (for the ask thing) please :)
oooh interesting one, thank you!
How I feel about this character
she's so cool. she hits so many of my favorite tropes- villain who knows exactly what she's doing and doesn't regret it, mad scientist lady, villain who's fueled by love that makes them want to break the world. how could i not love her?
All the people I ship romantically with this character
none? not against it, it's just not relevant to her role in the game
My non-romantic OTP for this character
i love the dynamic between her and Suture- however reluctantly, she does care about him, and will even take a break from her plots to go rescue him which is a big deal for her! i'm just charmed by the idea of the two of them holed up in her lab for decades, and her not even realizing that over time she's actually become fond of him
My unpopular opinion about this character
i'm not actually sure what the popular/unpopular opinions for her are?
i will say- i think my main KC, Piper, had a different reaction to her than most. a lot of KC's seem to really hate her, but Piper's feelings are really complicated.
Piper's parents were never super present, and she didn't have any strong attachments in her early life. so she sees Areelu's devotion in the name of her child and...she feels a grudging admiration, even envy? she knows she's not actually the subject of that love, but some part of her kind of wants to be. so even when she's trying to stop Areelu, she's also maybe a little too sympathetic to her motives
anyway, i guess that comes out to my opinion being that there's a lot of potential in her relationship to the KC and it can be so much more interesting than pure antagonism!
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
i'm kind of torn on this one- i want to know so much more about her child, and the specifics of what she's been up to all these years, and what her plans were long-term...but i also feel like having every single question answered in canon would be a little boring, and sometimes less is more with a backstory like hers
which is my longwinded way of saying i don't actually think there's much i would add lol
GIVE ME A CHARACTER and I’ll break their ass down!

aaaaa please tell me about your projects
Sure thing!
As of right now I have 4 *Big Main Projects*. Some of them are connected, have spin offs, whatever. A lot have also changed, especially the older ones, from what they once were. I'll give the basic rundown of each.
Welcome to Wintercrest: In the sleepy town of Wintercrest, all sorts of mythical creatures live together in a sort of harmony. However, monsters, animal-like beasts from other dimensions have gotten lose and invaded the peace. Monster hunters, people with extreme skill and a knowledge of monsters, either kill or otherwise apprehend these beasts.
Aubrey, an 18 year old fire elemental, is the newest recruit for the monster hunters. She finds herself as an outsider, with nothing but her own wit and sometimes uncontrollable powers keeping her safe. But when monster hunters start turning up dead, fingers start getting pointed at everyone. Will she be able to solve the mystery with her new friends? Or will she just end up another dead hunter?
Heirs of Disaster: The dragon realm is in turmoil. With no Dragon Knight in the past 100 years, there hasn't been anyone to keep the peace. In the orila kingdom, Princess Amavirla is plotting out her plan for realm wide domination, and she'll achieve it by having the dragon knight themselves on her side.
Enter: Bri. A half dragon half lightning elemental high school student who has just moved to the town of Mirstone, which is only populated by dragons. All she wants to do is finish off the year and go off to college. But adventure seems to find her wherever she goes, and she can't shake the feeling that the voices she hears her head aren't just a random occurrence. Will she heed the call to adventure? or will she keep her head down and try to be a "normal teenager?"
Realms: Someone's gotta keep the realms safe from threats, and that's where these guys come in! The realm hopper society lives in their own little pocket dimension where they can travel to almost any realm possible. They keep multi-realm threats safe, and sometimes do other stuff to help out if things are too dangerous for citizens
During a routine adventure stopping a mad scientist, Willow, a cat shifter from Earth, gets her memory completely erased in a freak accident. All she remembers is her name, her species, and where she's from. Her closest co workers have of course taken her under their wing, helping her regain her memories and integrate back into her job. but as time goes on, and more memories return, things they are telling her aren't adding up. Will she seek out the truth? Or will she comfortably settle back into the routine she's learned?
Divine Rangers: this is my newest one so it's still very much in development, but I am very happy with it.
Thousands of years ago un the world of Agia, the gods roamed the earth. However, their petty squabbles and constant in fighting caused untold destruction unto the land. Thus, in order to let humanity thrive, they sealed themselves off in the godly realms. However, monsters from the godly realms seek to destroy humanity, as they are not powerful enough to destroy the gods. In retaliation, the gods grant one human each a portion of their power to become Divine rangers. They fight to protect humanity, and understand that with great power comes great responsibility.
Aster is a completely normal adult. She lives her life quietly in her small town of Saker Keep at her parent's mechanic shop, along with her group of friends. However, she has reached a rough patch with her relationships, finding it hard to maintain them and at the precipice of losing everyone she cares about. But one night, a goddess comes to her in a dream. The goddess claims to be Zoranaea, an unknown goddess who has been trapped in Chronun (a darker godly realm) for hundreds of years. She has finally learned how to access humanity, and wants to help the mortal world in any way she can. Aster accepts her offer, and becomes the flora ranger. Will she fully rise to the challenge and learn how to take control of her life? Or will Aster falter yet again and ruin what little she has left?
Feel free to ask about more! I don't have a ton of concept art but i should be getting some soon from a good friend.

Self insert asks: 1, 2, 3, 4 & 7 for the self insert you’re currently thinking about/fixated on at the moment! :3
Thank you for the ask 💚💜
So I'm gonna talk about my main RE inserts right now so please forgive all the lore I am about to dump at you friendo.
1. What is your s/i's name & pronouns?
Ezio DiAngelo, they/them (RE4R)
Dr. Reneé Howell, but goes by Ren, she/her (Main RE insert)
2. How similar is your s/i to you? Are they a carbon copy, completely different, or a mix of the two?
Ezio isn't really similar to me, but they do carry ✨trauma✨ from my childhood. But that's pretty much it. They are their own person.
Ren, however, is very similar to me. Very caring and motherly, has my huge fascination for science and virology, and my intrusive thoughts about dissection of the human body.
3. Does your s/i have a full back story yet? Or is it still in the works? If it's done, can we see it?l
Ezio does have a back story and here's the gist of it: They were a human experiment at Umbrella Euro who received the prototype of the NE-α Type parasite that fully fused to their brain stem but never fully reached maturity to mutate them. Luis was brought on board to the project and seeing how they were treating subjects, specifically Ezio, he vanished with them in tow back to Valdelobos (RE4 Village). Then, Saddler employed him to discover the abilities of the Plagas under the guise of helping Ezio get back to normal, but ends up infecting them with it instead. Hence the reason on why Luis developed those lasers in the first place to destroy both parasites. But he couldn't since NE-α Type had already fused to their spine, and the Las Plagas was mutating with the already existing parasite.
Ren has a fully fledged back story (it's a lot) that you can read here!
4. How did your s/i feel when they first met your f/o(s)? How do they feel about them now?
Ezio was very skeptical about Luis at first considering they were an experiment he was assigned to monitor and he was an Umbrella scientist. Now, they are very much head over heels for him, and trust him completely. We're just gonna ignore Luis' fate for a sec haha
Meeting Wesker, Ren thought he had a complete stick up his ass but grew to respect him as a scientist. Now, Ren was/is disgusted on how he changed, on what he wanted to do. Very big divorced couple energy between them.
7. Give us 3 random facts about your s/i!
EZIO:
Born and raised in Italy, but moved across Europe quite often when they were younger. Resided in Spain when they were older.
They can speak 4 languages fluently: Italian, English, Spanish, and Dutch (the last one was for fun when they were in college).
Due to having both a prototype Nemesis Parasite and a Las Plagas parasite residing in their body, they can feel other Plagas around them and can almost "hear" the hive mind around.
REN:
Ren was an orphan, discarded by her parents to a Catholic run orphanage in her hometown. The nuns who ran the school were the ones to encourage and help fund her schooling, despite aging out of the system. Without them, she wouldn't have become a scientist at a young age.
She was killed and infected by her own project: The Nemesis before the events of the third game. Due to having been bonded with the progenitor virus as a fell safe thanks to William Birkin, after being infected the parasite bonded with her as well.
Ren always wanted a family, so before the events of the game (and spending a lot of time at the RPD), she eventually adopts the autopsy tech August (@valentinesparda 's insert).
#ask meem#shallow tag#i have a TON of lore for these two and i love them so much#resievil.tm#resievil tag#resievil brainrot time™#s/i: Ren Howell#s/i: Ezio DiAngelo#otp: breath of life#otp: Mi Amor Don Quixote

Some other thoughts about my RVB Monsters AU-
Sarge was actually from a family of monster hunters, who mostly specialized in Vampires, but they haven’t seen any in a couple generations... because this AU happens in kinda-sorta “normal modern times”, he got sent to fight in WW2 when he was entirely too young to be allowed (but they didn’t care), and came home to find his family mysteriously killed. For a few years he waited for regular authorities to solve the murders, then finally accepted the fact that spooky monster stuff is real, and spent the next few years tracking down the Vampires that killed his family (with a brief interruption, in which he was drafted into another war). When he was 29, he found the leader Vampire, and after a nasty fight, Sarge killed the monster... but wound up bit. He wasn’t able to treat the wound properly, having focused more on how to destroy monsters instead of healing options. As a result, he’s kinda stuck in a perpetual “first-stage of Vampire transformation”. He’s learned more about how to deal with it (as well as other supernatural situations) since then. Basically, he needs to have a series of blood transfusions, and takes some un-Vampire medicine (it’s garlic flavored!). He’s a bit of a mad scientist for himself. Instead of just killing monsters, Sarge begins to take the time to actually study them, even gets to know a few, and reluctantly helps them (because he got bit when he was 29, he kinda decided that is both the beginning and end of his “life” in a symbolic way. he doesn’t stop aging, but it goes a bit more slowly... he’s still a gruff old man, though)
Simmons was working as an unpaid intern for his parent’s business, kind of just running around and doing busy-work. Because he’s ambitious and eager to please, he wanted to try and find a weird “financial glitch”, but started uncovering a money scam his dad was part of. What Simmons didn’t know; his dad was basically working for a weird kind of “Vampire Company”, with all these old-school fancy Vampires make deals with humans so they get big mansions and use various businesses as fronts. The Vampires get privacy and a steady flow of victims, and the people who are in on it get lots of money and expensive antiques. Some boss Vampire asks Mr Simmons for a human sacrifice be provided for a ceremony, which he will be compensated for. Daddy-dearest figures volunteering his son is a win-win. Vampires get a snack, and all the illegal activity gets swept under the rug. Simmons almost dies... but then! Sarge bursts in on the scene, finds a scrawny young man nearly drained of blood, and sets about rescuing him. Simmons is already too close to transforming, he can’t be saved from becoming a Vampire, but since Sarge killed the one who bit him, Simmons doesn’t get all “cursed to obey a master” or whatever. Actually, Simmons adjusts fairly well, not having too many craving issues and what-not. He has lots of angst and depression when he realizes his dad basically traded him for financial favors from Vampires, but soon he latches onto Sarge as a new father-figure. He helps Sarge understand things like the internet, and eventually assists him out in the field (a run-in with another monster left Simmons injured, now with a glass eye. it takes him a while to kinda tap-into his awesome Vampire Powers, but he figures it out)
Grif and his sister Kai were on their way to the airport together (he didn’t know how to explain what a tight spot he was in, feeling like he was trapped at home, unable to find a decent job, and no longer young and cute enough to get away with shop-lifting. he fell for some “Join the army!” BS, but told her he was drafted so she wouldn’t think he was ditching her. he really felt more like she could take care of herself better without him). There was a horrible traffic accident, caused by mysterious circumstances, leaving many people injured, and several dead... a few days later, Zombies start showing up in the streets. Sarge and Simmons go directly to what seems to be the center of the Zombie activity, first doing some recon to figure out what KIND of Zombies these are (virus, fungus, space parasite, mental dominance, or magical necromancy?). They notice one Zombie in particular doesn’t seem to motivated when it comes to chasing humans... he sits himself down and rummages around for some abandoned pizza sitting in a box on a bench instead. Sarge decides he wants to study this Zombie, so Simmons gets the idea to buy a pack of Oreos, and make a trail to their van. The Zombie comes right along, and while he seems to get irritated from Sarge barking orders, he’s a pretty chill Zombie. He isn’t even being restrained back at the warehouse where they live, he just hangs out. They finally figure out some kind of magical necromancy is involved, but the spell is fading... to keep the Zombie from re-dying, they give him a transfusion of Simmons’ blood (already half-dead, but able to be alive), and Sarge Frankenstein’s some “fresher” body parts. The Zombie stays alive, stops rotting, and starts talking! From a partially scuffed ID in his pocket, they know his name is Grif (but he can’t remember much else about his life. as he experiences more things, it reminds him of events in his life. thankfully, he and Simmons talk CONSTANTLY about EVERYTHING). Now he’s less of a Zombie, and a bit more like a Ghoul. Kai was also resurrected by a necromancer spell, but something different than her brother. She doesn’t appear undead or decayed at all (lucky), and likes to call herself a “Succubus” for the fun of it. She also has a better memory than her brother, and is trying to track him down. Neither of them really knows or understands what caused the accident or who brought them back to life...

Headcanons about the Grey sisters ...but mostly Abbey because I rewatched those episodes
tumblr please don’t remove this one from the tags 🔫Also I still do asks for TSS characters so feel free to send me some 👉👈
☁️ - Miranda is both the oldest and the favourite child. Their parents are strict, wealthy, emotionally unavailable and have a lot of rigid/traditional views that they force onto their daughters. They wanted their daughters to excel and have very successful or safe careers. e.g. doctor, scientist/researcher, lawyer - private schooling, best universities yadayada
☁️ - Miranda and Abbey had a good relationship to begin with, and Abbey looked up to her, but their relationship first begun to sour with the favouritism. Miranda is extremely smart and her grades always reflected that, but her behaviour met their expectations due to that pressure of not wanting to disappoint her overbearing parents.
☁️ - Abbey began to get jealous/resent her older sister as their parents devoted all the time to her, funding all her extra studies/tutors/projects, trying to get her into oxbridge etc. while she was chastised for trying to get their attention by acting out of line of their expectations.
☁️ - And so Rebellious teen phase Abbey happened but it just got to the point where Abbey would keep doing things her parents disapproved of but she just learned how to hide it better. Aka. classic strict parents accidentally raising an expertly sneaky child trope.
☁️ - She scrapes by with good enough grades in school to get into some kind of university/college/apprentice course that she wants to do. (That of course her parents are probably disappointed with 😂). I’m thinking something related to anthropology or history given her canonical love for lost civilisations. Hence, Abbey is just as intelligent/book smart as Miranda, she just has no interest in maths or science and prefers studying human history.
☁️ - Through a combination of some of the unethical or immoral things she did at uni to keep her education funded + her knowledge about human history + her drive to become more financially successful than her parents thought she starts taking mercenary-style jobs. These aren’t on the scale of what she’d do later on, but things like stealing artefacts or recovering them from dangerous spots nobody else will - things with a discreet but big payout so she could finally cut her parents off. Although she’s still on speaking terms with Miranda at this point.
☁️ - So Abbey is doing these jobs on the down low and is doing well financially, she does other random jobs like babysitting Zak who I think she geniunely cared about to an extent? I think the money was just much more of a motivator than any care/admiration towards the saturdays and that she wouldn’t have gone after them if pay wasn’t involved. (can’t say the same for Doyle though)
☁️ - The parenting style of their parents p much raised two emotionally unavailable women who are incredibly stubborn and refuse to reveal their feelings under almost all circumstances, even with eachother. Especially for Abbey who now securely values money and fierce independence over love, family or affection.
☁️ - Miranda moves to Antarctica (to get away from her overbearing parents and the weird world trauma because think about it nobody with that much money would choose to live there unless they wanted as little contact as possible). And that only deepens the rift between them.
☁️ - At some point Abbey becomes more immoral, going to work for Van Rook and doing jobs that require more than just stealing/recovering things illegally, at which point Miranda cuts contact with her.
☁️ - I do wonder what would happen to her after canon. I think the ending scene suggests that Miranda and Cheechoo eventually got back onto speaking terms with the Saturdays + Miranda probably earned some brownie points by stopping Beeman. I think for Abbey to quit the merc game there would have to be something serious or lifechanging happen. Aka. She might eventually parallel Doyle and learn something that makes her question if chasing the money rather than working on healthy relationships was worth it.
☁️ - I’ve seen thoughts that their surname is a play on ‘morally Grey’ and I can definitely understand why. While Abbey is definitely more immoral than Miranda, both don’t set out to cause harm without a motivation, for Abbey that motivation is money but for Miranda that motivation is the greater good, disregarding emotions and personal feelings for the idea of the greater good by freezing Zak and therefore stopping kur. Hence any collateral damage they cause is ‘in the job description’

25 lives — katsuki bakugo
ೃ pairing: pro! hero katsuki bakugo x fem! reader
ೃ tags: alternate universe/time traveler au, a lot of angst, fluff but the sentimental and nostalgic kind, flashbacks, bakugo travels through so many parallel worlds just to find you.
ೃ warnings: strong language. wc: 4,764 words
ೃ my nav → my mha writing masterlist → my katsuki bakugo x reader smau
ೃ i created a spotify playlist for this fic, feel free to listen to it while reading here!
ೃ please do reblog if you enjoyed!! it really helps writers and content creators on tumblr! if you want to be a part of my mha taglist. send me an ask! ♡
ೃ Heavily Inspired by one of my favorite written poetry/prose of all time, 25 Lives by Tongari. The poem will be heavily referenced and mentioned in this fic! The lines from said poem can be identified [❝ like this❞.]
ೃ After losing the love of his life in a brutal villain incident, Katsuki Bakugo had lost a part of him. Nothing and no one could ever bring her back. He became the shell of a person he once was; fiery, bright, and the driven #2 Pro-hero in the country. He continues to live life with guilt, all hope still lost until he is gifted a time device that can transport him to parallel universes, dimensions and alternate worlds, where he begins his quest to find his lost love. Crossing a hundred of realities and living twenty-five lifetimes just to bring her back into his arms.
“Stars die. they die and they are not sorry
No matter how much the moon says otherwise.
Stars die and your whole galaxy explodes.”
For the majority of Katsuki Bakugo’s life, he is the main star of the show.
Then, you came into his life and made everything else feel like a rehearsal.
In a world where he mostly treated everyone in his life as extras, you were the main heroine.
When he put up walls around himself, you brought them crashing down.
To him, the concept of love and loving someone romantically was foreign. It always came to him as a question, If whether or not love was something worth living for and sacrificing for, giving your half to another person to be whole, when he can already live for himself.
It was always a question… until you became the answer.
“Use my new baby wisely! Okay, Bakugo-san!?”
Hatsume Mei, a schoolmate of Katsuki back in his UA days, warned him cautiously. She was now an esteemed scientist, one of the best in the country. Katsuki was the first one to come into her mind when she finally completed her new invention, a gadget that can transfer a person’s soul and being to a different body; one in a different space time continuum.
It was as if living a new and different life.
In another universe.
The concept of the device was pretty straight-forward. You are able to go to different dimensions and live the life of your other self; then if it wasn’t the world you wanted to live in, you are free to disappear and go to another parallel universe. It raised skepticism at first and it sounded too good to be true, as how could something as extravagant and complex as this become possible? But they were living in a world full of heroes with the most unique and bizarre quirks, so why can’t it be possible?
This was his chance.
Maybe, with this, he can bring back (Y/N)…
All along, there had been hope.
He was finally going to see her again.
His thoughts bring him back to the day of the incident.
What was reported to be a regular villain attack, escalated into something that no one could expect.
She was the only casualty-
And he was a minute too late.
Was he not fast enough? What could have happened if he had gotten there in time? Hundreds of hundreds of scenarios of what could’ve been still continue to haunt him until this very day, what could have happened if he had only arrived there earlier to save her? The things he would do to see her beautiful face and feel her calming presence once more, to see the loving woman he went back to after a tiring day, to pepper kisses on, to be dancing with in the kitchen at 2 am, to be the sharing the first cup of coffee with in the morning, the one to wake up to every single morning…
The one whom you’d share the rest of your life with.
But, now… that life was gone.
Seeing your limp and unmoving body surrounded by debris was the most devastating experience and image he had to see and go through in his entire life.
He could do nothing but hold you in his arms, gritting his teeth, tears streaming down from his cheeks, feeling nothing but frustration and powerlessness as the world came crashing down on him.
“Dammit (Y/N!) Why you? Why did it have to be you?”
Your resting eyes and dormant body remain steady and… cold. Your boyfriend rests his head on your shoulder, trying to hide that he was bawling in pain and sorrow. Katsuki began to feel the weight of his emotions pulling him down, his thoughts reminding him of his past failures and mistakes, and now that this accident that met your demise became one of those said mistakes, how will he be able to recover? If he was able to overcome his demons and insecurities solely because of you, his friends, and his parental figures to guide him… will he even be able to do the same once again?
He was the #2 Pro Hero too… What will the public think of him?
After he had failed to save the one that he had loved the most?
It has been a year since then.
Katsuki’s life went on without you.
Well, of course it did, Of course it does. It was just an ending, they told him. Not the end.
He told the general public that he had been slowly recovering and that he was able to bounce back to his usual explosive self. Still yelling, still being the competitive and pompous ass he is, even as a Pro-hero. But his friends and family weren’t dumb. Kirishima, his closest confidante knew there was something wrong with him. His parents noticed too that he still wasn’t himself. All of them did.
They all knew Katsuki still hasn’t recovered from the incident at all.
I mean, who would right?
It was perfectly normal to mourn. It was part of the healing process. The Pro Hero Dynamight still can’t move on and that feeling was valid. It takes time to fully heal and he had already made it clear time and time again that he will never ever love someone like the way he loved (Y/N).
But, if there was a way to bring her back, then he wanted to take that chance.
When Izuku heard of news from Hatsume Mei’s newest invention, Katsuki’s green-haired childhood friend immediately told him about it.
Although he was unsure at first, the quirky scientist assured him to wait a little bit more for the trials of the device to finish if he wasn’t sure about it. And when her test subject came back safely, bringing home their lost relative from another universe, that was when Katsuki became sure of his plans.
This was the key to bring (Y/N) back.
It wasn’t going to be easy but he would do absolutely everything just to see you again.
And with that, the day of his world-jumping adventure (literally) had finally arrived.
Bidding farewell to his family and friends, a small gut feeling inside of him says that this might be the last time he’ll ever see them again… and so, in the most Katsuki Bakugo fashion ever, he thanked everyone present that day… indirectly. He expressed appreciation to those who supported him and helped him throughout his life.
Now, it was his time to find the girl who had been there for him the most.
(through his darkest times and saddest nights, she was the ray of sunshine.)
He took a deep breath, turning to his loved ones one last time, a solemn nod yet the cheekiest smirk present on his face as he disappears, whisked away to another world.
The parallel universes that he was going through dropped him into different years of his life. So, Bakugo had to adapt to knowing what age his other self was in the timeline he was currently in. He was lucky that most of the time he landed in a world and at the time where he was a student at UA.
The time where he originally met you.
He needed to take note of every world he had been too because not only were each and every one so different. Katsuki wasn’t a poetic person (his vocabulary mostly composed of colorful words.) but as he continued to jump through so many parallel universes, he had begun to take note of the ones that stood out to him the most. In the form of a poem, one that he thought you would appreciate when he finally reunites with you. Another you at least.
[❝ The very first time I remember you, you are blonde and don’t love me back.❞
✧ This is the first parallel universe in where you were an upperclassman. From Class 3-A. A friend of Nejire, one of the big three. Katsuki was so delighted to see you, only for you to not know him. He was currently one of the most popular students in UA, of course he is, but you paid him no attention, passing by him in the hallways as if he was just another regular freshman, instead, you were seen holding hands with some slimey-looking guy that Katsuki has never ever seen in school. This wasn’t you. Or, at least, this wasn’t the (Y/N) he was looking for. This was only the first parallel world. He wasn’t going to give up.
[❝ The next time you are brunette, and you do.❞ ]
✧ Unrequited love. What a stupid cliché. In this world, he was an idiot too far up his own ass, whilst the entirety of Class 1-A loathed him and did not look up to him like the way they did in his original world. Katsuki was so caught up in trying to change his personality, that he failed to notice you. The girl who was always in the back of the classroom, looking out the window. You were always just there. Never noticed. Admiring him from afar.
[❝ After a while I give up trying to guess if the color of your hair means anything. because even if you don’t exist, I am always in love with you. ❞ ]
✧ This was practically the same world that Katsuki originated from. Only you were missing. Every single event that transpired in his life, had happened in this parallel universe. The USJ Incident, The Forest Camp Training, The Trip to to Nabu Island… everything. There was this huge empty space that you were supposed to fill. Except, you didn’t exist in this universe. It was the quietness and the lack of your presence in this world that bothers him. Katsuki wonders how this other self of his could continue this life without you in the picture.
[❝ I remember most fondly those lifetimes where we get to grow up together, when you share your secrets and sorrows and hiding places with me. ❞ ]
✧ This universe surprised him with puppy love. Here, he was brought back to his childhood. You were his dearest friend and childhood sweetheart. The three of you along with Deku, were a trio. At a very young age, you kept his feet on the ground, never wanting him to think that he was above everyone else despite his powerful quirk. The young Bakugo was able to share his frustrations and insecurities to you, while you always listened. You were always there. He talked about his quirk and his complaints about how the other kids only liked him for his powers, but not for who he actually is. You continued to support him and love him wholesomely for who he was and he was glad to have a friend like you and…. Deku. (as much as he didn’t want to admit it
However, it ended there. The two of you lying down on the hill, looking up at the stars, and shyly holding hands. Just randomly faded away. And in a blink of an eye, the timeline shifts forward to middle school. His worst years, he would say.
He was so eager to see you again and hopefully remain friends with Izuku after all this time.
Yet, you were nowhere to be found and… Izuku wasn’t his friend anymore.
Apparently, the two of you became distant after graduating elementary because you moved away and never got into contact with him ever again.
This was too heartbreaking for this universe’s Bakugo. To have such a wonderful and healthy social life when he was a kid, only for all of that to just disappear when he started middle school. On to the next parallel world then.
[❝ I love how you play along with my bad ideas, before you grow up and realize they are bad ideas. And in our times together I have many bad ideas.❞ ]
✧ The Sludge Villain. A very traumatizing experience that still haunts Katsuki until this very day. In this world, you were still friends with him. Always following him around and making sure he didn’t get into trouble. He continuously pushes you away, telling you that he didn’t need you and you shouldn’t be controlling of him.
You finally had enough of his arrogance that day and… got into an argument with him. It was the same day as the Sludge Villain incident.
It happened in this universe too.
After he was captured by said villain, you ran after him, tears welling up in your eyes, wanting to reach out and save him. The sludge villain noticed you, and became more interested in your quirk, targeting you instead. All Might was a little too late and…
The incident led you to losing your quirk and having to live in a hospital for the rest of your years.
It felt like a long bad dream. One that reminded him of your demise in his original world. Bakugo immediately teleported to a different parallel universe. Not wanting to deal with that kind of sadness ever again.
[❝ When we meet as adults you’re always much more discerning. I don’t blame you. Yet, always, you forgive me.❞ ]
✧ In this universe, you were in the same hero agency. Not knowing each other prior to this. Bakugo was the new hotshot that all the other heroes in your agency were going crazy about, just because he was from UA and was attractive. You didn’t get the hype and why everyone else was fawning over him. He was a Pro-hero just like all of you. So, when you finally met him in the flesh, you could immediately tell he was a conceited ass by the way he looked at you and by the way he presented himself.
Unbeknownst to you, Dynamight’s heart was fluttering with happiness at the sight of seeing you again. Your Pro-hero self. Caring, Bad-ass, Confident, and Courageous… It was you.
Almost you.
After being partnered up with him in hero work for the past months, he began to turn soft, a bit annoying, and act flustered whenever you were around which you immediately thought was very out of character for him.
Then he confesses.
You said no.
It just didn’t feel right. First, your hero career was more important to you and you just couldn’t reciprocate those feelings back. The two of you weren’t for each other, and he understood that. He left you for a moment to go get get some “fresh air.”
Bakugo was getting frustrated. His mind going hazy at the thought that he’s gone to so many parallel worlds yet still haven’t found you is slowly beginning to take a toll on him. But he still wasn’t going to give up.
[❝ As if you understand what’s going on, and you’re making up for all the lifetimes in which one of us doesn’t exist, and the ones where we just, barely, never meet. I hate those. I prefer the ones in which you kill me.❞ ]
✧ The next alternate worlds he went to were an absolute mess. One of them where the two of you barely meet. Merely passing by each other in the street, opening the door for you or entering the same convenience store. Fate not wanting the two of you to meet. Like magnets being pulled away from each other. A romance movie without the romance. As if telling Katsuki that the two of you were never meant to meet in this universe. Don’t even bother.
Then there’s the other one where you were a merciless villain and he was a pro-hero who had to defeat you. He couldn’t do that. You overpowered him.
But, hey, at least he got to see you as the girl who didn’t put up with his shit and could care less about him. Not to mention you were a part of the organization that was against everything that he stood for as a hero.
It was a tragedy. Not the Romeo and Juliet kind, but reminiscent of it. With Romeo sacrificing his life, yet Juliet remains the same and indifferent.
[❝ But when all’s said and done, I’d surrender to you in other ways. Even though each time, I know I’ll see you again, I always wonder is this the last time? Is that really you? And what if you’re perfectly happy without me?❞ ]
✧ Bakugo was finally teleported to a reality where he was a high school student again. However, he wasn’t studying in UA. Instead, having to go to a regular high school (which he was totally irritated about because why is his parallel self here going to a regular school in the first place? What happened to him?) The two of you pass by each other on your way home. Going off in different directions. You were a student at UA, laughing and mindlessly chatting with his friends. Mina, Kirishima, Denki, and Sero…
All of you barely even noticing him and acknowledging his presence.
At this moment, he realized that maybe you weren’t meant to meet in this world again. He felt like a simple character in the background. A small speck of dust in your universe. God, why was he thinking this? This wasn’t like him. He slowly lost his confidence as he goes from one parallel world to the next to find you. He couldn’t even motivate and give himself pep talks anymore. Has he reached the breaking point? Is he still even himself? Is he still Katsuki Bakugo?
Maybe, he should just give up trying at this point. Every single alternate reality so far all ended in tragedy. Not once were the two of you able to reconcile and have a happy ending. It was not like him to give up, but the chances at this point were slim and in each alternate universe, Bakugo just become more and more disappointed with how things turned out with your other-worldly selves…
It was as if the only universe where the two of you became happy was in his original world.
Was he going to stop here?
[❝ Ah, but I don’t blame you; I’ll never burn as brilliantly as you. It’s only fair that I should be the one to chase you across ten, twenty-five, a hundred lifetimes.❞ ]
✧ This was it. The twenty-fifth parallel world. Hopefully, the last one that he has to go to and hopefully the one where he finally he finds you.
Bakugo jumps into the portal, expecting the vibrant colors and hues of the city to appear around him, only for him to be transported to a white box.
In the middle of this white void was a cherry blossom tree. Blooming in the prettiest pink colors, and swaying with the non-existent wind. Near it was a small bench. A feminine figure sitting on it, facing the tree.
It was you.
You.
Katsuki knows it’s you because it’s the same dress you wore that day.
A beautiful blue dress that the two of you bought when you were out for some errands. It was the kind of blue that reminded you of the sky, which is why you bought it in the first place. You were saving it for that day, to wear when you visit Katsuki at work and drop him off his bento lunch.
That day.
Instead of a sky reflecting off of your dress, it became grey. Like the color of a storm instead.
He remembers fondly what happened at that same morning. He was getting ready for hero work, whilst you were rummaging for something inside the closet.
“Ahah!” You exclaimed, finally pulling out something to wear. The sound of the wardrobe hangers clinking from the inside.
Katsuki wanted to take a peek of you but you were giving him no chances. You see him trying to take a look when you noticed his blonde hair spiking up more than usual.
“Hey! No peeking!” You giggled, hiding yourself even further inside your closet.
“Gah. Come on! Just one?” He groans, teasing you, trying his best to pull out his puppy tone. “Please?”
“No.” You deadpanned seriously and you could practically feel him pop a vein.
“Hey! What was that for!? I was just joking-“
“I was just joking too you weirdo.” You giggled again, stepping out of the closet. You take a deep breath and straighten your dress, twirling around for him to see. “How do I look?”
He dashes towards you, picking you up from the ground as he begins to twirl you around.
“Katsuki! Put me down!” You chuckle, feeling his strong arms wrapped around you. “You’re going to be late for work!” You tap his back lightly, trying to get him to put you back on the ground.
“You’re beautiful. You always are.” He says seriously. Not a tinge of playfulness or abrasive in his voice. He was still holding you up, but positioned you in a way that the both of your faces were inches away from each other, gazing at each other’s eyes.
The both of you lean in for a sweet and blissful kiss. It felt light and comforting. A feeling that you always have whenever you were with him. A very giddy feeling.
And at that same day, when he saw you again, surrounded by darkness, your eyes closed, your body tranquil and your gentle face looking ever so at peace…
You still looked beautiful, even then.
“Suki-kun.” You wave at him from afar, a solemn smile present on your face. You beckon him to sit next to you but he hesitates.
“(Y/N)…” His voice cracks, not really noticeable, but you could hear it. “Tch… are you.. real? Is this really you?”
“It’s me, love.” You continue to show him your smile. As you blink, you were suddenly caught in his arms. Katsuki was hugging you tightly like there was no tomorrow, his head nestled on your shoulder. His hug felt warm yet cold, like he had been hugging skeletons all this time whilst trying to find you.
You had no words to say to him.
It was just that kind of moment.
Hearing your voice, hugging you tight, holding your hand, and seeing your smile was enough for him at the moment.
This was you.
Actually you.
“It seemed like a lifetime ago when I began searching for you.” He whispered softly, his voice still so rough yet loving all the same.
A lifetime of pain and sorrow. Of disappointment and missed opportunities.
“Ah…” Your voice trails off. “We don’t have much time left.”
“Huh? What the hell do you mean?” You untangle yourself from his arms, cupping his cheek and rubbing your thumb whilst he holds your hand still.
“I-I can’t go back to our original universe.” You mumble, trying to fight back the tears and continuing to caress his face. “We can’t go back together.”
“(Y/N)!” Bakugo’s face goes stern, as realization hits him. “Shit! (Y/N)! Look, We can get out of here okay!? There’s this device I have-“ The device on his wrist dissolves into nothing as the room around you begins to be consumed by darkness, like sucking you into a black hole.
“Katsuki… no. It’s hopeless! We can’t-“
“Damn it (Y/N)! I’ve traveled through every fucking imaginable universe possible just to find you again! I’ve gone through hell and back just to see you again! I’m not going to leave without you!”
Before you could answer his rebuttal, the bench that both of you were sitting on vanishes and now the two of you were falling in an endless black hole.
As this parallel world around you began spinning faster and faster, the two of you floated upwards, hands locked tightly together, and your eyes sad and bewildered.
The two of you watched as your faces grew younger back to your high school years, like this universe was going in reverse, moving the both of you backwards in time.
You were still holding onto Katsuki’s hands, trying to savor the last few moments with him as you began to say your goodbyes, tears coursing down your face.
“Katsuki… I know you had seen things you wish you hadn’t. You have done things you wish you could take back and I know you’ve been wondering why you’ve been thrown into all of this, why you had to suffer the way you did and why you had to go through so much just to find me. The ghost of me. And as you were going through all these alternate universes alone and hurting, I wish I could tell you that it’s okay. Even if you don’t find me again, I will always be here. My presence will always be lingering. I will live in your heart, Katsuki Bakugo. You deserve the whole world for traveling through twenty-five lifetimes just to look for me. I love you with all my heart, my soul, my being, and all that is left of me… I love you.”
“I-I love you too. Through all these lifetimes I’ve spent with another you, you will always be the one.” Katsuki mumbled, pulling you for one last kiss.
A kiss ever so soft and sweet, worth all the lives he’s experienced.
“Let’s meet again in another lifetime.”
Time continued to reverse back, to the point you no longer knew who you were with. Their face being blocked by a gleam of light. You were grasping the hands of a stranger, but you didn’t let go. And neither did they.
For a moment, there was a calming presence. A whole new world was opening up like a vortex, swallowing the both of you…
Into a whole new universe.
“(Y/N)-chan! Wait up!”
“Oh? Ochaco-chan!”
The brown-haired girl catches up to you, holding on to your arm as she catches her breath. “Can you believe it’s our first day in UA!?”
“I can’t believe it either!” You giggle along with her, taking in the sight that was the top hero academy of Japan.
It was finally the month of April.
The Cherry blossoms were blooming, symbolizing a time of renewal, a time for change and a time to turn over a new leaf.
Today is your first day in UA Academy.
You still haven’t even grasped the fact that you even got in the first place.
Everything still feels so surreal.
The entrance exams and the excitement you felt whilst waiting for the results to release and now, you were about to step foot into the school of your dreams?
What an amazing start to your high school life indeed.
You and Ochaco were standing in the middle of the walkway, still in awe of all the pretty sights when someone bumped into you.
“Hey! Watch where you’re going!” You called out.
No response.
You turn to take a good look at the person who knocked against you and it was… a guy.
Blonde. Spiky Hair. Hand in his Pockets. Earphones on. His pants worn loose.
God, what a dork.
“It’s alright (Y/N)-chan! He probably didn’t hear us.” Ochaco assured you, trying to pull you away from him before you could even start a fight.
You sighed, turning to your friend with a smile. “Fine. Fineee. Shall we head to class?”
“Class 1-A! Here we go!” She holds onto your arm once more as the both of you giggle and hop your way into the classroom.
“Ochaco-chan! What are you saying!? You do know I got sorted into a different class right? I’m in Class 1-B!”
“A-ah! You’re right! I’m sorryyyy (Y/N)-chan!”
Bakugo turns his head to look back at your animated figure walking behind him. He stares at you for a good second whilst readjusting the earphone on his left ear, as he too, heads on his way to his Class 1-A.
There is something so delicate about time, so fragile. In a slight moment, you can miss something so pivotal, yet never have the chance to see or witness it ever again.
Feeling the presence of the person you would be spending the rest of your life with, joining the dots in the sky, and wondering when your stars would align.
Until then, you will dream of him, and he will do the same.
It was only a matter of time. You will cross paths again.
[❝ until I find the one where you’ll return to me.❞ ]

That’s so fucking cool.
Steve Harrington x powers!reader part 1
Master list
Summary: You are 000. The first child Brenner ever experimented on and El’s big sister. After being found by Hopper freezing in the forest, you and El become tired of hiding. So you sneak out one day just to see what your missing. That’s when you meet the only and only Steve Harrington.
The soft drone of the tv in the living room hits your ears as you wake up . Another dreamless night, you honestly don’t know if you prefer them to the nightmares. You’re tired of staring into the dark. You want a normal life. One where you don’t have to worry about evil scientists who want to make you into a weapon or giant monsters from other dimensions. You want to be able to leave this damn cabin. And even though you’re grateful for Hopper taking you and El in, you wanna see the world you were deprived of, not be hidden away again.
“Hey double 0, if you don’t wake up soon El and I are gonna eat all the waffles”
“I’m coming” you grunt as you push yourself out of bed. You sigh as you go into your closet, quickly changing before heading to the bathroom to brush your teeth. Finally you make it to the little table that acts as the dining room.
“Oh look who’s finally graced us with her presence” Hopper said sarcastically looking up from his coffee to raise an eyebrow at you. El doesn’t bother looking at you as she continues to munch on her waffles.
“Good morning” you grunt as you take a seat at the table. There’s barely enough for all of your plates and it wobbles as you cut into your meal.
“How did you sleep?” Hopper asked awkwardly. He always asked the same questions and you always had the same answers.
“Okay. No dreams again.” You say quietly. “How long are you going to be gone?”
“Till 5:45”
“Will you let me know if you’re going to be late”
“Of course”
Really everything was the same. You were tired of it. You can’t even go into the backyard. You get it really. There are rules, we don’t break the rules, breaking the rules is stupid. But you’d kill for a conversation that consisted of more than three syllables. And you’re not talking about El.
El. She’s the light in your life. She was back when you were in the lab, back when you were forced to do unspeakable things to people. She was when you both escaped, running through the forest hand in hand as sticks and stone dug into your feet. And she was when you both got sucked into the upside down and spit out in the middle of the forest. Now, she’s the light as you try and teach her how to read, write, and all the basic things someone her age should know.
“Okay El, read this out loud to me.”
“I do-o-o n-noT lll-ike g-gr-gree-ee-N eggs and HaM”
“Hey you’re getting better! Just a bit more practice and you’ll be reading like me.”
“Like you?”
“Yeah El”
“Good”
“Good.”
Of course there are things you don’t know. You were in that lab for as long as you can remember. You hardly remember your parents, only that your mother was beautiful. She had dark curls that she twisted in the night time, beautiful brown skin that glowed in the sun, and beautiful brown eyes that were kind. You didn’t know your father. You can’t remember him at all. Only Brenner. His cold eyes and false smile tainted your memory.
As the first child they experimented on, you were his pride and joy. He found a sick pleasure in making you become what he called his “little helper”. You helped keep people under his control. Your powers consisted of mental manipulation, telekinesis, and emotional manipulation. You were powerful, and he knew that. He craved the power you had, to wield it with an iron grip. At first, you lived for his approval. You were so young, the thought of pleasing the man who claimed to e your father was a no brainer. But when you saw all the other kids, who died painful and horrific deaths, your faith in Brenner slowly dwindled. You hadn’t met El before, you both were kept separate after the failure of the other children and after one managed to escape. That’s when he became stricter, refusing to let you roam the facilities, stopped the private lessons, and only let you read kids books. The only time you were allowed to leave your room was when he needed someone to comply or...be disposed of.
Then that’s when you met her.
El was being removed from a testing room when you were being taken to it. You both made eye contact and an immediate urge to protect her formed inside of you. That very night you persuaded a guard to leave the door open and broke out, taking El with you. You both split up for a while, you stayed in the junkyard while El met Mike and his friends. Then you were sucked into the Upside Down. Way before El though, managing to meet Will and help him hide from the Demagorgon. After El was sucked into the Upside Down, you both reunited and found a way out. Ending up in the middle of the forest, freezing when Hopper found you.
He took you both in and from then on it’s been you, El, and Hopper. You were grateful of course. You learned a lot from him, but you want to see the world.
“Maybe I can” you think to yourself. You have a plan.

"There's no place like gnome."
Stranger Things 3: The Game.
Gnomes 1-10. 🧙♂️
IT'S FINALLY HERE!
It's no secret that the Duffers take a lot of inspirations from Pop Culture. From the most well known movies to the more obscure comics, they are always able to sneak a reference somewhere everytime. And they are also able to make it connected to the story.
I've bragged about how the Stranger Things expanded universe in media is one of the best out there compared to many others. I think that the Duffers, the writers or people in the highest places of the marketing are really paying attention to what comes out of the ST franchise because there is no way to have such content with so many details without someone looking into them.
And ST3: The Game is a very good example of that.
So let's start! The first 10 Gnomes out of 50 that you have to find in the game.
BE AWARE THAT THERE ARE SPOILERS BELOW!
"There's elements that could please those who makes metas/analyzes or theories. Especially things related to possible future plot points, easter eggs, references in previous seasons mainly season 3 like unsolved mysteries or unanswered questions and for future seasons such as season 4 like foreshadowing or teasers, trailers or as of lately the sneak peek."
If you have anything you'd like to add, might think I have missed or think it might be referencing something else don't hesitate to share it by commenting or reblogging.
(Say thanks to @hawkinsschoolcounselor for having helped me with some of them. )

Gnome #1: Johnny
"He's here... with an axe."
Overall plot:
"The film's central character is Jack Torrance, an aspiring writer and recovering alcoholic who accepts a position as the off-season caretaker of the isolated historic Overlook Hotel in the Colorado Rockies. Wintering over with Jack are his wife, Wendy Torrance, and young son, Danny Torrance. Danny is gifted with "the shining", psychic abilities that enable him to see into the hotel's horrific past. The hotel cook, Dick Hallorann, also has this ability and is able to communicate with Danny telepathically. The hotel had a previous winter caretaker who went insane and killed his family and himself. After a winter storm leaves the Torrances snowbound, Jack's sanity deteriorates due to the influence of the supernatural forces that inhabit the hotel, placing his wife and son in danger."
So I assume a lot of you know The Shining by Stanley Kubrick. A movie which was adapted from the novel of the same name by Stephen King in 1977.
There's a lot of things that could have served as an inspiration for ST.
A boy/child who has psychic abilities = Eleven has psychic abilities such as telekinesis. Will has his True Sight which consist in seeing what the MF was seeing and feeling.
Now there's also the theme of family and parenthood that is also a big theme in Stranger Things. Especially abusive parenthood such as Brenner, Lonnie and even Hopper to a smaller degree.
In Shining, Jack tries to kill his family with an axe due to supernatural forces that are in the hotel but there's a difference between King and Kubrick. While King specifically said that Jack was heavily influenced by the Hotel, Kubrick shows that Jack always had that sinister violence in him even before they arrived at the hotel.
It's interesting to draw a parallel to Billy and Will, both characters called William who tried to kill their families and other people while being possessed. But Billy compared to Will was shown to have been abusive even before that. Dacre Montgomery also said that he was inspired by Jack Nicholson's performance in the Shining for his character Billy.
Joyce and Jonathan were shown to get ready to fight the monsters by taking an axe.
It's also interesting to note that Jack dies in the snow while a blizzard is happening outside the hotel. Much like the storm of the Mindflayer who is in the Upside Down, the same Mindflayer who "likes it cold". While in the book, the Overlook explodes and burn.
(Cold vs Fire much like everything Upside Down related not liking Fire.)
Also "Johnny" = "Jonathan", it's kind of similar and Jonathan did wield an axe before. Maybe this is teasing parts of Jonathan storyline next seasons ?
The gnome was also found in Mike's basement, Mike who wants to be a writer when he's older just like Jack.
Let's just hope that Jonathan and Mike don't get the same fate as Jack.

Gnome #2: Christine
"Two bright, beaming lights for eyes."
Overall plot:
"Written by Bill Phillips and based on Stephen King's 1983 novel of the same title, the movie follows the changes in the lives of Arnie Cunningham, an awkward and unpopular teenager, his friends, his family, and his teenage enemies in Rockbridge, California after Arnie buys a classic red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury named Christine, licence number CQB 241, a car that seems to have a jealous, possessive personality – and a mind of its own, which has a bad influence on Arnie. After working on a car in a junkyard owned by Will Darnell, Arnie drops his glasses, starts dressing like a 1950's greaser and develops an arrogant and paranoid personality. He than decides to invite and date the most beautiful girl in highschool, Leigh, who will soon become the next victim of Christine."
I was actually quite surprised by how this story parallels Stranger Things a lot.
First off, Christine is very much like The Mindflayer, a dangerous supernatural being set out to destroy anyone who is in her way, the people who tries to take the things that she thinks belongs to her or threatens her. This is very much relevant to The Mindflayer who after being hurt by the Fire created by the Hawkins Lab was upset and attacked everyone he could. Or as Will putted "Not me, everyone else."
This is very much like Christine who tried to kill Leigh because she was taking her place in the life of Arnie. Christine also tried to kill the bullies of Arnie who after a conflit with him, tried to destroy the car which angered Christine heavily.
The Mindflayer has been described someone who views himself as superior to other species and wants to conquer them, even if it's not his real "goal", the description fits anyone who is possessive and paranoid.
Both the MF and Christine are associated with the color red. Red storm = red color of the car.
Arnie ressembles Will and Billy alot. Will is an awkward and unpopular teenager who after being possessed by the Mindflayer became very different and more violent. Billy was shown to be paranoid, jealous, violent and his look even ressembles the one Arnie takes after repairing Christine.
Both of these boys have the same name as Will Darnell, the owner of a junkyard. Just like the boys in Season 1 who takes shelter in a junkyard, or in season 2 where they fight the Demodogs.
Billy dies, killed by the Mindflayer just like Arnie who was completely possessed by Christine who tried to kill Leigh and Dennis, his best friend after they tried to destroy the car when they realised the supernatural nature of it.
Billy's car ressembles a lot Christine with those lights on. Especially with shots like in the Void or at Starcourt during the night.
Chrissy, a new character that will be in season 4, the most popular girl in Hawkins High like Leigh, has a name that is the diminutive of Christine. It is said that under the perfect surface lies a dark secret. Much like the car Christine, while a beauty is actually a dangerous supernatural being. We'll see if the both of them actually connects in the show.
Also it is set in California where Billy and Max come from and has been rumored by many people due to set leaks (The Surfer Boy Pizza Van.) that it is where the Byers went. I won't get into it in this post but this could be a tease or hint of that IF the set leaks ARE true and not fake to mess with people and the fandom.
Arnie also dies in a car crash having been completely possessed by the evil powers of Christine which is something we see in the sneak peek of ST4. It also reminds of Carrie who has a bully named Chris who she kills in a car crash with her boyfriend Billy aka William.
So will someone die from that car crash ? Who is it ? Chrissy, Joyce, Lonnie ? We can only speculate.
The gnome is also found outside the Wheeler's house where Karen lives near the community pool where Billy works and where the car of Billy is located during the first few chapters of the game. Again, a "bad boy" hitting on the beautiful girl in town. (with a lot of creepy subtext all over it.)

Gnome #3: Doc
"Always mumbling something about being late."
Overall plot:
"Set in 1985, in the town of Hill Valley, California, the story follows Marty McFly, a teenager accidentally sent back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean automobile built by his eccentric scientist friend Doctor Emmett "Doc" Brown. Trapped in the past, Marty inadvertently prevents his future parents' meeting—threatening his very existence—and is forced to reconcile the pair and somehow get back to the future."
So I don't think I need to explain why this is here given how much it has been shown and mentioned in season 3. But few things are interesting here, the fact that California is mentioned is a big deal for me again. I know you are aware of the set leaks just as I am aware, if we can trust them than this could be a hint of that location.
Next, we have the theme of Time. Now ever since ST4 was announced, clocks and times have been a key feature in the promotion. Who know what this might mean but again, we're not going to develop that in the post.
There is also the whole funny scenes of Robin realising that indeed Marty's mother had tried to "bang" her own son. Now given the nature of the shown, certain images in the show during certain events and certain stories, you know to what it connects and to which theories it connects. Won't develop further on it but it can be used as an element that can go into those theories.
The gnome is also found outside of Starcourt Mall where Robin and Steve talk about "Back to the Future". It is also where Billy has his "Back to te Future" moment with his car going extremely fast just like the DeLorean.

Gnome #4: Indiana
"Master of Adventure."
Overall plot:
"After arriving in India, Indiana Jones is asked by desperate villagers to find a mystical stone and rescue their children from a Thuggee cult practicing child slavery, black magic, and ritualistic human sacrifice in honor of the goddess, Kali."
Fun fact, on Twitter for ST3 promo, a parody poster of this same movie has been posted here of the official ST account.
Jim is obviously Indiana Jones, the look speaks for itself and when he is in the Tunnels in season 2, there's a lot of Indiana Jones imagery.
And of course Kali as 008, a Hindu goddess but as we will see here, it parallels more the Mindflayer.
In 1935, Indiana Jones survives a murder attempt by Lao Che, a crime boss in Shanghai who has hired him to retrieve the remains of Emperor Nurhaci. With his young orphaned Chinese sidekick, Short Round, and the nightclub singer, Willie Scott, in tow, Indy flees Shanghai on a cargo aircraft. While the three of them are asleep, the pilots (employed by Lao Che) dump the fuel and escape via parachute, leaving the plane to crash over the Himalayas. The three narrowly manage to survive by jumping out of the plane on an inflatable raft.
(I wonder if this could be something we see in season 4 with Hopper where he tries to escape on a plane and ends up crashing somewhere or is betrayed by someone who he asked the help of. Now it's a trio and in season 3, Jim, Joyce, Alexei and Murray are the main group that fits this trio. Jim for all the fighting and crazy shit, Joyce and Alexei are kind of like Short Round, they are the sidekicks of Hopper. Murray the role of Willie Scott since she speaks Chinese and him Russian and that Jim just like Indy finds annoying sometimes. Alexei is also kind of like Willie since he kinda goes along with them.
But if we also look at season 2, El is alot like Short Round since she is kind of an orphan too and has a father figure later on. It could also be Will since Hopper is with him a lot of times through season 2. Also Willie did felt out of her element like Alexei because of course he is Russian. Willie in itself doesn't have a lot in common with Joyce but still it's another connection to Will since she has a name close to the one of her sons. Something that does fit a bit more is Jim and Hopper both escaping death, of course Hopper at the end of season 3 but also during season 3 at the farm where he's being shot at by Gregori and than the car doesn't work and explodes and they have to make their way through the forest.
Willie Scott could also be referenced when El disguise herself as this pretty blonde girl in season 1.
Now however, Scoop Troops does fit certain parts of these trio. All the fighting with Steve like Indiana Jones but Robin got his brain because she cracked the code. Dustin and Erica are kinda like short round (especially Dustin who has kind of the same hat as short round.) and are referenced with all the others as children by Robin. Steve doesn't feel in his element like Willie with the three of them who are nerds just like Erica who also doesn't want to accept it. And Robin just like Willie speaks some languages.)
They ride down the mountain slopes and fall into a raging river, eventually arriving at the village of Mayapore in northern India. The villagers plead for their aid in retrieving the sacred stone (shivalinga) stolen from their shrine, along with their missing children, by evil forces in the nearby Pankot Palace. Indy agrees to do so, hypothesizing that the stone is one of the five Sankara stones given by the gods to help humanity fight evil. (It's kinda like Alexei who turns his back on the Russians, for his life of course and agrees to help Hopper close the gate to save Hawkins and their kids before monsters start to appear or may attack one of their kids. Now the stone could be something similar to the promethium or the two keys who opens the gate and is a highly valuable ressource. It also may be the Flayed who are needed to create the monster for the Mindflayer.)
The trio receive a warm welcome at Pankot Palace and are allowed to stay for the night as guests, attending a lavish, but revolting, banquet hosted by the young Maharajah. The officials rebuff Indy's theory that the Thuggee cult is responsible for their troubles. Later that night, Indy is attacked by an assassin. After Indy kills him, he discovers a series of tunnels hidden behind a statue and sets out to explore them, overcoming a number of booby-traps.
(This could be like when Hopper, Joyce and Murray disguised themselves as Russian soldiers but was than discovered by Grigori who attacks them.
The tunnels could be both groups discovering that there is a secret russian base underground and a gate which explains why there are monsters again in Hawkins but it also be the Source, Brimborn Steel Works, where the Mindflayer is lurking underground where he has cult-like followers who makes sacrifices for him to grow bigger and bigger.
It's also like the Tunnels in season 2 who explains why the soil of Hawkins seemed to literally rot. )
The trio reach an underground temple where the Thuggees worship Kali with human sacrifice. They discover that the Thuggees now possess three of the Sankara stones and have enslaved the children to search for the last two, hidden in the palace catacombs. As Indy tries to retrieve the stones, he, Willie, and Shorty are captured. Thuggee high priest Mola Ram forces Indy to drink a potion that puts him into a trance-like state in which he mindlessly serves the cult. (It's very much like Robin and Steve who after discovering the gate are catched by the Russians and than drugged to answer their questions. But also like the Flayed who drinks the chemicals and serves the Mindflayer like a mindless cult.)
Willie is prepared for sacrifice, while Shorty is put to work in the mines with the other children. Shorty escapes and returns to the temple, where he first frees Indy and, later, the Maharajah from the effects of the potion. Indy saves Willie and retrieves the stones. After freeing the children, Indy fights a hulking overseer and leaves him to be killed by a rock crusher. (Basically Dustin saves Steve and Robin. Willie being prepared for sacrifice is kind of like El prepared for sacrifice by Billy in 3x08 but also frees Billy from the effects of the Mindflayer by making him remember his mother, a pretty blonde woman like Willie and sacrifices himself. And Hopper fights Gregori, a "hulking overseer" and kills him.)
The trio escape from the temple, pursued by Thuggees, and barely escape Mola Ram's attempt to flood them out. They are again ambushed by Mola Ram and his henchmen on a rope bridge above a crocodile-infested river. Indy cuts the bridge, causing several of the henchmen to fall to the crocodiles and leaving the survivors to hang on for their lives. As Mola Ram and Indy struggle, Indy invokes the name of Shiva, causing the stones to glow red-hot and burn through Indy's satchel. Two of them fall out; Mola Ram tries to catch the third, but burns his hand and falls from the bridge and into the river, where he, too, is eaten by the crocodiles. (This can be connected to all the kids fighting in Hawkins with the Spider Monster. But the bridge could also fit for the key in the secret base where Hopper and Gregori fights. The gruesome death of Mola Ram is similar to the gruesome death that Gregori has.)
Indy catches the stone safely and climbs up just as a company of British Indian Army riflemen, sent by the Maharajah, arrive and open fire against the Thuggees to drive them away; the surviving Thuggees are soon cornered and arrested by more soldiers. Indy, Willie, and Shorty return safely to Mayapore with the stone and the missing children. (While it may end well in the movie, we know Billy and multiple people die, the Thuggees unlike the Russians have been captured while the Russians where all able to flee before the US Army arrives and Hopper is presumed dead. Only the children in both stories are alive but are probably traumatized for life.)
All in all we can see that this movie might have had a big influence on the plot of season 3 through many characters and more. It may have some hints about possible events for Hopper in season 4 or even beyond but that's about it for. It's a nice package of comparaisons and references though.
The gnome is found in the Hawkins Community Pool where Billy is. The same Billy who obeys mindlessly the Mindflayer and sacrifices people to it. Just like the Thuggees with Kali.

Gnome #5: Chunk
"Posed in some odd dance maneuver."
Overall plot:
"In the film, a band of kids who live in the "Goon Docks" neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, attempt to save their homes from foreclosure and, in doing so, they discover an old treasure map that takes them on an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of One-Eyed Willy, a legendary 17th-century pirate. During the adventure, they are chased by a family of criminals who want the treasure for themselves."
So first, let's get this out of the way, Sean Astin who play Bob Newby, our beloved who plays a character named Mikey.
The Goonies is a 1985 American adventure comedy film co-produced and directed by Richard Donner from a screenplay by Chris Columbus, based on a story by executive producer Steven Spielberg. In the film, kids who live in the "Goon Docks" neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, attempt to save their homes from foreclosure and, in doing so, they discover an old treasure map that takes them on an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of One-Eyed Willy, a legendary 17th-century pirate. During the adventure, they are chased by a family of criminals who want the treasure for themselves.
I wonder if this might hint at some Season 4 plot right here. The Hawkins gang faces the threat of Hawkins becoming a literal ghost down and might need to find something to save it. Also Willy like William, again Will is still there.
The Goonies include optimist lead Goonie Mikey Walsh, his older brother Brandon, the inventive Data, the talkative Mouth, and the overweight klutz Chunk.
Rummaging through the Walshes' attic, they come across a 1632 doubloon and an old treasure map purporting to lead to the treasure of legendary pirate "One-Eyed Willy", believed to be located somewhere nearby. Mikey considers One-Eyed Willy to be the original Goonie. (It kinda reminds me of Mike who got mad at Max in season 2 and told her they didn't need another party member. And he mentionned Will first right after him.)
The kids overpower and bind Brandon and make their way to an abandoned restaurant on the coast that coincides with the map; Brandon soon follows alongside Andy, a cheerleader with a crush on him ( there has been cheerleaders that have been reported in season 4 such as Chrissy.); and Stef, Andy's friend. The group quickly discovers the derelict restaurant is a hideout of the Fratelli crime family: Francis, Jake, and their mother. (Maybe it is both a reference to the Russians in season 3 who have a hideout under the mall who have many restaurants. Or the Lab who OBVIOUSLY does a lot of illegal activities. )
The Goonies find a tunnel in the basement and follow it (like the tunnels made by the Mindflayer in season 2), but when Chunk flags down a motorist to go to the sheriff’s station, he gets abducted by the assailants and imprisoned with their hulking, deformed, younger brother Sloth. (This is obviously like Dustin who befriends Dart in season 2, a literal Demogorgon in the making.)
The Fratellis interrogate Chunk until he reveals where the Goonies have gone, and begin pursuit. Chunk is left behind with Sloth, but befriends him. After Sloth frees both of them, Chunk calls the sheriff, and both follow the trail of the Fratellis. (This is very reminiscent of Hopper in season 1 who gets interrogated by Lab agents or Steve and Robin by the Russians.)
The Goonies evade several deadly booby traps along the tunnels, while staying ahead of the Fratellis. Finally, they reach the grotto where Willy's pirate ship, the Inferno, is anchored. (Will also has a ship, the rainbow ship he drew for Joyce, also Inferno literally means Hell just like what Hawkins has been called.)
The group discovers the ship is filled with treasure, and they start filling their pockets, but Mikey warns them not to take any on a set of scales in front of Willy, considering that to be their tribute to him. As they leave the ship, the assailants appear and strip them of their loot. They start to bind the Goonies and make them walk the plank, until Chunk arrives with Sloth and distracts the assailants long enough for the Goonies to jump overboard and swim to safety. (It's the opposite of the season 2 finale, where Dustin has to distract Dart so that the other could pass through the tunnels.)
The Fratellis proceed to grab all the treasure they can, including those on Willy's scales; this triggers another booby trap that causes the grotto to cave in. With Sloth's help, the Goonies and Fratellis barely escape.
The two groups emerge on Astoria's beach, where they reunite with the Goonies' families and the police. The Fratellis are arrested, but Chunk prevents Sloth from also being taken; he invites Sloth to live with him, which Sloth accepts. ("Unfortunately", Dart compared to Sloth probably died.)
As the kids describe their adventure to their parents, the Walshes' housekeeper, Rosalita, discovers that Mikey's marble bag is filled with gems he took from the ship and had not been seized by the Fratellis. Mikey's father triumphantly rips up the foreclosure papers, declaring they have enough money to negate the foreclosure. As the Goonies celebrate, they see the Inferno, having broken free of the grotto, sailing off on its own in the distance. (Could it be hinting at a possible happy ending for Stranger Things ?)
So Fratellis, is similar to fratello which means "brother, fellow, neighbor" which perhaps could be a reference to the Mindflayer who is kind of our neighbor since he is basically in the same places but in the Upside Down. The Mindflayer also has been paralleled to Billy and other abusive father figures. Billy who is the brother of Max. He has also been paralleled to Kali through his anger and him attacking people who hurted him or might hurt him. Could in itself The Mindflayer should be taken or seen as some sort of family figure ? Maybe him being always associated with Will The Wise especially in 2x04 or someone who has the name Will like Billy is a connection. The same Billy who also parallels Russians who just like the Fratellis have secret hideouts.
Though the Fratellis are more motivated by greed which fits Brenner, Lonnie (who tried to use his son's death to gain money.) or Russians most.
Now Willy, Willy is a captain. Maybe it could be hinting at the fact that Will has more importance to the story than we think. There's also Inferno, "Hell" which is Hawkins but also the name of the ship. And Will has a rainbow ship... Could Hawkins be the ship of Will where his adventures are taking place ?
As for the dance... well as you've seen upper in the post: it's the "Truffle Shuffle Dance". It's something that Chunk has to do before entering Mikey's house. It's similar to what Dustin do at the beginning of season 1 to the bullies when he makes his bones crack due to his medical condition, cleidocranial dysplasia.
As for where this gnome is located, it's in Weathertop where Cerebro is located which is fitting since Dustin has a lot of Goonies as inspiration for his character.

Gnome #6: Elvis
"He's not dead!"
"Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977), also known simply as Elvis, was an American singer and actor. Dubbed the "King of Rock and Roll", he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century. His energized interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across color lines during a transformative era in race relations, led him to both great success and initial controversy." - Wikipedia.
It is a lot known that people in the 80's thought that Elvis Presley was still alive due to his status and the aura he had as a celebrity. However, no matter how appealing this myth may be, he died of an excessive usage of prescription drugs which reminds me of Nancy who said she thought Tom was on drugs when he fired her and Jonathan while he an the Flayed were drinking chemicals. He also died in 1977, the same year "Heroes" by David Bowie came out which is a song that was used two times when we thought a character died when he was actually alive which are Will and Hopper. Will and Hopper both have a lot of rock in their Spotify playlist.
Also, I personally think that Steve has kind of an Elvis Presley aura to him especially in season 1. After all, Steve has a nickname "King Steve" and Elvis Presley is often nicknamed "The King" and both were popular with girls.
Fun fact: Dacre Montgomery who plays Billy who literally becomes the new "King" of Hawkins will play in the biographical music drama "Elvis" about Elvis Presley where he will play a character called "Steve Binder".
Also actor David Harbour also got married with singer Lily Allen by Elvis in Las Vegas.
It's also found hidden behind bushes near the Public Library. Maybe indicating that Elvis is still out there in the world and hiding.
Which also may be a reference to Brenner who has a similar haircut but also about the novel "Suspicious Minds", a prequel of ST taking place in the Lab when Brenner was doing his sinister experiments which is the same title as one of the songs of Elvis. Like Elvis, Brenner is still out there, hiding in Hawkins.

Gnome #7: Jack
"All work and no play makes Jack a dull gnome."
Again another reference to Shining. So what you are seeing here is a proverb, it means: "It means that without time off from work, a person becomes both bored and boring."
In Shining, it represents Jack's slow descent into madness. But it could be a reference to Joyce, Jonathan and Nancy who all work their asses off and don't take a lot of time for themselves and so don't have the time to explore anything else than work which also cause for them not to be there when Will got kidnapped. It may also represent Jonathan's words to Nancy in season 1 where he "called out" the boring life she will have and that she will live like her parents so in this case the proverb becomes about societal norms.
Mike just like Jack is an aspiring writer, Mike just like other members of his family falls into these societal norms that are expected like work and overworking in this instance which makes them boring in the eyes of people like Jonathan. "No play" may also reference D&D which Mike started to ignore in season 3 and worried more pointless and superficial things.
Again, hope it doesn't foreshadow anything for these two characters.
This gnome is found in the Library which is fitting considering Jack wants to be a writer.

Gnome #8: Flynn (Flynn Rider from "Tangled" (2010))
"Looks like he rides well."
Overall plot of Tangled (2010):
"The film tells the story of Rapunzel, a lost, young princess with magical long blonde hair who yearns to leave her secluded tower. Against her abusive foster mother's wishes who kidnappee her when she was young, she accepts the aid of an intruder to take her out into the world which she has never seen."
This story is literally what the boys was arguing about at the end of season 1.
1)The lost knight...
Flynn Rider is actually the son of a king and queen that were from a kingdom that got destroyed by a powerful opal. He was evacuated and placed in an orphanage. He made his reputation as thief.
So Mike and El both parallels this guy, well Mike is a palladin in D&D and he is the son of a wealthy family so he is basically a night. El however also lost her parents like him and has more attributes of a knight in season 1 than Mike.
Flynn is arrogant, which Mike can be a bit sometimes but the both of them can be extremely courageous and care a lot about the people they care about though they are not very strong, nor athletic. Maybe Flynn a bit more.
Also fun coincidence Flynn = Finn, the name of the actor who plays Mike. (almost the same name).
Both him and El run into each other in the woods. Just like Flynn who discover Rapunzel while trying to enter Rapunzel's tower but is knocked out by her who is none other than the...
2)The proud princess...
Well first Rapunzel = Eleven. Both of these girls have magical powers and are used by an abusive and evil parental figure who needs them for their own interest, Mother Gothel used the powers of Rapunzel to stay young forever (like an addiction, a drug) and Martin Brenner aka "Papa". They are both locked away somewhere. El in the lab and Rapunzel in the tower which they both seeked to escape out of. Both believed that these parental figures loved them while it was not true. El also has long blond hair in season 1 like Rapunzel. And both quickly form a relationship with a boy they just met. Both don't know who their real parents are and wants to find them. While Rapunzel has long blonde hair, El had a shaved head.
Also in season 2, El is locked in a cabin in the woods because of Hopper because he believe it is not safe out there which is exactly what Mother Gothel tells Rapunzel. Just like her El disobeys and seeks to discover who her true parents are.
Rapunzel seeks to know what are those floating lights that always appear on her birthday, it is actually her parents who are the king and queen of a kingdom not so far away that do that every year hoping one day she will come back to her. She is a "lost princess". It is very similar to Terry Ives who was communicating through the lights to El.
Rapunzel's power comes out of something that is also connected to something famous in ST.
3) Weird flowers in the cave...
Rapunzel's power come from a flower called "Sundrop flower". = Sunflower which is said by Terry Ives.
This flower can pretty much heal anything including mortal wounds. The Queen got pregnant with Rapunzel but was also terribly sick so she took this flower to heal herself and while doing so, Rapunzel got this ability.
This is very reminiscent of Terry Ives who was pregnant with El and took part in the MKUltra experiences that gave her these powers including certain drugs. She is also "ill" in a way as she is now stuck in a loop. At least from what we saw.
But Rapunzel also parallels another character.
Will Byers. Will could communicate through lights to his mother, just like the parents of Rapunzel and Terry Ives.
The weird flowers could be referencing the sort of vines that entered inside of him in the Upside Down which gave him his "now-memories".
Both had abusive parental figure that would lock them somewhere for whatever reason. (Lonnie with Will in his trunk.)
(Also Hopper may have tried to separate Mike and El but he wasn't like what a Lonnie or Brenner would have been. This is why yes, the situation in season 2 parallels but Hopper truly wished good for El while Brenner and Mother Gothel didn't care for any of these two.)
Same is for Lonnie, he doesn't care about Will.
Since Will is a cleric, both him and Rapunzel have the same time of power. Powers that El doesn't have:
To heal the sick and injured
To revive the dead
To work as a shield
Given this story, it may hint at the fact that Brenner and Lonnie may try to take El and Will for their own greed and purposes.
Since Rapunzel parallels both Will and El, you know what that means for Flynn who parallels Mike.
Flynn in the movie is stabbed by Mother Gothel and dies before cutting the hair of Rapunzel killing Mother Gothel in the process. Rapunzel mourns him and one of his tears heal him.
If Flynn parallels Mike, than something bad could happen to him. If Will does have powers and has feelings for Mike, a supposed death may reveal his powers.
And if he has the same powers as his cleric role, than he could heal those who get hurt or even bring the dead back to life.
If Lonnie sees Mike around Will, given he is homophobic. He may try to hurt him so that he doesn't go near Will again which could lead to him being in grave danger.
Of course all of that is just speculation.
This gnome was found on the parking lot of Starcourt where El decided to break up with Mike and we saw Will smiling in the background.
Also I don't know but... "Looks like he rides well", I mean there's certain undertones to that which are... I don't know how to process that but from what you've just read, Mike apparently rides well. I mean I have nothing against gay sex jokes but still...
Even if it's unintentional, it's how it'll sound on the internet.

Gnome #9: David
"At 399, he's the oldest gnome around."
So this gnome was already in the first ST official mobile game. And this reminds me a lot of The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit but also and of course; Dungeons & Dragons.
The World of David the Gnome, originally titled David, el Gnomo (also known as David, the Gnome), is a Spanish animated television series based on the children's book The Secret Book of Gnomes, by the Dutch author Wil Huygen and illustrator Rien Poortvliet. The series was originally created in Spain by BRB Internacional (who were also responsible for the Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds franchise (Like Dart in season 2 and Mike, Lucas and Dustin where very much like the Three Musketeers in season 1.) and other cartoons such as Bobobobs and Around the World with Willy Fog)
The series presents the gnomes as a kind species, of 15 centimetres (6 inches) of height, and between 250 and 300 grams (8 and 10 ounces) of weight depending on gnome body mass. According to their habitat, different types of gnomes are distinguished: the ones of the forest, the ones of the garden, the ones of the farm, the ones of the house, the ones of the dunes, those of Siberia (David = David Harbour = Hopper = Hopper is in Russia), and nomadic "gypsy" gnomes (commonly looked down upon by other gnomes). A gnome's lifespan is usually 400 years, though there is one example of a couple in the Balkans living 550 years.
Gnomes such as the main characters live in pairs in comfortable caves or holes under trees [kinda like Hobbits] (in their case in the company of a pair of mice and a cricket). Their diet is mostly vegetarian. They are helped by the animals of the forest (kinda like Radagast who is the password to Castle Byers who is located in the woods) when travelling long distances or when they need to arrive quickly at a specific location. Gnomes work in various ways to repair the damage inevitably caused by humans. They also have the power of telepathy and mind control. (kinda like El or the Mindflayer, or even Galadriel in The Lord Of The Rings.)
Their main enemies are the trolls, malevolent and clumsy creatures who always make trouble for the other inhabitants of the forest, as well as gnome poachers. They have supernatural powers that are really strong but they have a weakness, if the sunlight gets on them, they turn to stone.(could be referencing all the Upside Down creatures who don't like sunlight and everything hot.) [Also very much like the Hobbit.] Also one of the trolls was voiced by someone who had the name Henderson, like Dustin Henderson. I also think it references a comic where some bullies attack Will and Mike calls them trolls.
Here are the most important characters:
David is a gnome of the forest. David is 399 years old, making him the oldest gnome around (since gnomes live no more than 400 years exactly, except Franklin, the gnome from the west, who lived 550 years), although he possesses exceptional constitution. David is a doctor, and he uses his knowledge of many fields, such as hypnosis and acupuncture, to heal his patients, usually animals, such as his faithful friend Swift the fox, or other gnomes. David also befriends a bird that, when he whistles, immediately arrives to quickly transport him to wherever necessary. For longer trips, he sometimes travels in a basket attached to the neck of the bird. (It may be a reference to clerics who are known to heal their allies and travelling with birds reminds me of Gandald who sometimes has the help of Eagles in some stories.)
Paul is David's twin brother. Not only does Paul have a normal moustache in contrast to David's handlebar moustache but his jumper is a darker shade of blue, he has a bigger nose, his gnome hat is dark blue whereas David's is red, and his trousers and boots are an inverse of David's: David's trousers are brown and his boots are beige, while Paul wears beige trousers and dark boots. (Of course this is a reference to Will and El who have been compared a lot of times throughout the show and who a lot of people in the fandom consider them siblings and twins, Will has a lot of Red in his wardrobe while El has a lot of blue.)
This gnome was found in a secret Russian base underground in Weathertop where Dustin discovers the Russian transmission coming from their main base located under the mall like a cave (like where gnome lives.). There are also gnomes in Siberia and having the name David, the name of Hopper's actor creates a connection since right now Hopper is in Russia. It may also be a nod to the group of kids who are all little gnomes running around the forest with their magical powers.
_____________________________
Gnome #10: Baskin
"Robin's favorite gnome."
Now this is a funny one.
This is a reference to the famous Baskin-Robbins which is a chain of ice cream restaurants that did special ice creams for Season 3 because of Scoops Ahoy. It is Robin's favorite gnome because they literally share the same name.
Baskin could also be a reference to the film of the same name where Five police officers, Remzi, Arda, Yavuz, Apo, and Seyfi, are dining at a restaurant, during which they have a discussion. Their meal is interrupted when they receive a distress call from Inceagac, a town known for being the focus of strange rumors. During the trip Seyfi has a terrifying vision of a bloody figure and accidentally drives their van into the water. Stranded, the officers eventually make their way to Inceagac, where they find themselves in an abandoned building (back in the Ottoman days, this used to be a police station), captured by cult members and are subjected to a number of increasingly bizarre and surreal scenarios. In the end, they realize they have all inadvertently wandered into Hell.
It has alot of similiraties with stories like Silent Hills or Hellraiser, two stories that inspired Stranger Things especially Hellraiser for Stranger Things 4. And it fully embraces the satanic imagery and themes which is something we are going to see with the satanic panic and also has the theme of time, dreams and visions.
We'll see how much season 4 decides to use those sort of elements in the show.
Well this gnome is easy to find. It's in the Scoops Ahoy parlor next to Robin. USS Butterscotch seems to be very popular there

Studying
Word count: 1704
Pairing: Natasha x Reader (platonic)
Warnings: panic attack, let me know if I missed any
Summary: Studying for an exam is overwhelming. Nat helps.
A/N: Hi! So, this is very much just me projecting my own thoughts and feelings onto the reader lol. There’s no real romance here, just Nat being a good friend. I also did not edit this, so I apologize for any spelling/grammar mistakes.
It was late, you realized as you closed your textbook. You’d been studying for some stupid math final the next day and time had clearly gotten away from you.
Balancing avenger work with being a full-time student was difficult but you enjoyed it, for the most part. Thankfully, it was online schooling so you were able to complete work on your own time, but it was still difficult. Deciding to go back to school in your mid twenties had been a big step for you.
You’d always hated school. It never came easy, despite being a science genius. You were what most people called brilliant. You thought it was just being creative. You thought in a different way than most people. Tony Stark had sought you out when you were fresh out of high school right before the invasion of New York.
But, despite having a secure job working for the avengers in the compound, you had decided it wouldn’t be a bad thing to go back to school. Just because you were good at making supersuits and other technological advancement-esque stuff didn’t mean you were that smart.
For example, calc two was kicking your ass right now. Making new impact resistant polymer suits for the gang was a hell of a lot easier for you than whatever the fuck this textbook was trying to explain.
“Stupid math,” you groaned, rubbing a hand over your face as you looked back down at the problem you’d already tried to solve four times. There was no way in hell you were going to pass this class.
Fighting back tears of frustration as you crumpled up the paper, you stood from your desk. It was near three in the morning and you were exhausted. But you would not let yourself fail this exam. Your grade in the class was already less than acceptable and failing your final would definitely leave you with an F.
You walked to the kitchen quietly, not wanting to wake anyone. Coffee would surely settle you down and give you enough energy to make it until the morning. You had to figure this out.
“I told you to ask Tony or Bruce for help,” Natasha’s voice startled you.
“Sorry, did I wake you?” You asked, drying your eyes before you turned to her.
“No, don’t worry.” She had an amused look on her face. “You’re still on calc, right?”
“Yeah,” your shoulders slumped. “But I have to be able to do this on my own. I shouldn’t have to annoy them with questions about basic math all the time.”
“Calculus is not basic math.” Natasha snorts at you.
“To them it is.”
“Well, make sure you go to sleep at some point, okay?” The concern in her eyes was evident and you just nodded, grabbing the cup of coffee you’d just brewed.
You took a sip before making your way back to your room. The textbook sat right where you’d left it and the sight of it bright a fresh wave of tears.
You were a scientist for the avengers, damn it. Why were you crying over math? But your parents words flashed through your brain, reminding you that you were just a stupid kid.
The relationship between you and your parents had always been rocky. They had held you to unachievable standards and no matter how much effort you put into school, they were never satisfied. And they always made sure you knew that.
“You think you’ll get anywhere in life with grades like these?” your father had shouted at you many times. “You’re just lazy. Do you know how much money we pay for you to go to this school? And this is how you repay us? You’re embarrassing.”
Your hand shook as you picked up your pencil once again, trying to figure out that stupid problem. There were so many rules and steps and none of them made sense to you!
When the answer you got still didn’t match the one in the textbook, you slammed your pencil down with a scoff.
“You’re so stupid!” You said to yourself, tears leaking from your eyes. You started to erase your own writing again, when you glanced at the time, half past three. You were never going to figure this out.
It was becoming hard to read the problems through your watery eyes as you fought back the tears. You had to figure this out! But it was no use, you dropped your head onto the desk, holding in sobs.
Your thoughts began to run with your father’s words. Embarrassing, lazy, stupid. You felt that familiar sense of self-loathing begin to rise within you and you were helpless. This wasn’t even the last unit you had to learn before your final.
You were overwhelmed and you didn’t realize that your chest was tightening or your breath was becoming short. But when you lost feeling in your hands, and your face was tense and tingling, it was obvious.
You were having a panic attack.
You were no stranger to these, of course. But, that didn’t make it any easier. It had been quite some time since you’d had a panic attack this severe, too, which made it that much scarier.
You slid off your chair, pressing your back against the wall and pulling your knees up to your chest. You screwed your eyes shut, the heels of your shaking hands pressing into your eyes. If you had more control over the situation, you’d have tried to quiet your hyperventilation.
A soft touch to your hand brought you somewhat back to reality.
“Y/N,” a soft voice called. Your fingers instinctively clutched at the hand that pulled yours away from your face.
“Y/N, you’re okay. I’m right here.” Nat’s voice was softer than you may have ever heard it before.
“Nat, I-I,” you choked out, trying to say anything.
“No, don’t talk. It’s okay, I’ve got you.” Her free hand rested on your knee, squeezing lightly. “Can you breathe with me?”
You tried to follow her soft ‘In’ and ‘out’ over and over. Your breaths were forced, almost painful as the panic refused to let up.
“Good job, dorogoy,” You felt the redhead scoot next to you, her arm wrapping around your shaking frame. “You’re doing amazing, I’ve got you.”
She pulled you into her gently. You were starting to gain the feeling back into your hands, and your facial muscles seemed to loosen just slightly. But, you were still shaking violently as you tried to stop yourself from sobbing.
“You’re okay,” Nat soothed, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. “I’m here.”
You leaned into her, balling your fist up in her shirt.
“Do you want to talk about it?” She asked after you had nearly stopped crying.
“I’m gonna fail,” you whimpered. You felt pathetic.
“You know,” Nat sighed, “who cares?”
“What?” Her words confuse you.
“You are smart, Y/N. You already have a job, and after working for Stark, you could get in anywhere if you decided to leave. This is one class and regardless of how you do on the final, no one will think any less of you.”
“But-”
“No,” Nat cut you off. “Your grades in some stupid college class don’t matter. I promise, even if you do fail, we’ve all seen how hard you’ve worked in each of your classes. That’s what matters. Your work ethic and your commitment to your studies is worth so much more than sacrificing your wellbeing to secure a passing grade.”
“I feel so stupid.”
“You shouldn't. It’s a tough class. You should be proud of yourself for trying, even if you don’t get the results you wanted.”
“I just wanted to prove them wrong. Even if they wouldn’t know. I wanted to prove to them I was smart. But they were right, I’m just stupid.”
Your words hang in the air for a moment. Natasha knows you’re talking about your parents. They’d all heard about the verbal abuse you’d suffered through at the hands of the people who’d raised you.
“You are not stupid.” She tells you firmly. “You are brilliant. You’ve created a new polymer that is even better at stopping bullets than vibranium while also working as a material for clothing. Doesn’t that count for something?”
“Yeah, but…”
“This is just one subject. I sure as hell can’t do calculus! You’re good at what you’re good at. I’m good at kicking ass, Clint’s good with a bow, Wanda’s good at… well magic. You’re good at science shit.”
You were silent. You knew she had a point.
“I know that won’t make you feel better about this.” Natasha explains. “But you can’t beat yourself up for this. You need to take care of yourself. Let’s go to bed, now, and we can ask Tony or Bruce for help in the morning.”
“I need to study,” you start.
“No, you need sleep.” Natasha’s voice is firm again. “You can’t sacrifice your health or your sanity for a test. You are more important than a test.”
“Okay.” You weren’t entirely convinced but, for now, your parent’s words were fading away.
Natasha helps you up before wrapping her arms around you in a tight hug. You savor the comfort of her embrace, before realizing just how exhausted you are.
“Get in bed,” Natasha nudges you towards the bed. You lay down, eyes closing as soon as your head hits the pillow.
Nat pulls the blanket up before turning towards the door.
“Wait,” you call, hesitantly.
“Yeah?”
“Stay?” You bite the inside of your cheek. “Please?”
“Of course, dorogoy,” Natasha smiles at you as she slides into bed next to you.
“Thank you,” you mutter, laying your head on her chest as her arms wrap around you tightly. She presses a gentle kiss to your head.
You know you’ll freak in the morning when you have to think about the final again. But Natasha was here now, and Bruce and Tony would be there in the morning. It would be okay. One failed exam, one failed class-- hell, even every class failed-- was no indication of your worth. And Nat would be there to remind you if you ever forgot.

A story in three parts
Middle
This is a crime family/mafia au so expect some violence. The Mingxicheng in this part is established.
When Jiang Cheng comes to, he groans in pain. His head is throbbing, there’s a bad taste in his mouth and his arms feel as though they are dead.
Jiang Cheng blinks his eyes open fully, hating how the world tilts for the first few blinks and when he finally sees his surroundings, his stomach drops in fear.
He’s in a warehouse, tied to a chair and Xue Yang is grinning maniacally in his face.
“The little princess finally came to,” he says, his voice full of glee, and Jiang Cheng tries his best to get away from him, but he’s tied to a chair—that’s what’s killing the feeling in his arms, too—and there is nowhere for him to get away to.
“What do you want?” Jiang Cheng presses out, aware that his voice is shaking and he hates himself for how weak he is, for how easily he is to scare.
“Ah, straight to business, I see,” Xue Yang says, and he sounds disappointed. “I hoped to play some more.”
“Don’t be stupid,” someone else suddenly says from behind Jiang Cheng and he tenses in fear of what that person is going to do, but then Su She steps around him and Jiang Cheng relaxes slightly.
Between those two, it’s definitely Xue Yang he needs to be more afraid of, Jiang Cheng knows that well, and so he barely keeps an eye on Su She.
Which is a mistake, Jiang Cheng realizes with ringing ears, when Su She punches him square in the face.
“You’re probably wondering what we want from you,” Su She says, sweet as anything, once Jiang Cheng managed to right himself again.
“I’m not, actually,” Jiang Cheng bites out, trying to get past his fear, spitting out the blood that’s gathering in his mouth and Xue Yang laughs straight in his face.
“Oh, that sure sounded differently just a few moments ago,” Xue Yang says and then gets out a knife.
Jiang Cheng tenses in fear, a cold shudder running down his back, but when Xue Yang walks up to him, he tries to squirm away. He’s getting nowhere of course, not with how tightly the rope cuts into his arms and when Xue Yang puts the knife to his cheek Jiang Cheng freezes.
“Listen here, little princess,” Xue Yang whispers and he puts more pressure behind the knife.
Jiang Cheng is sure that by now he must be bleeding, even though he can’t actually feel the pain through his panic.
“Don’t call me that,” Jiang Cheng still hisses out, because he has to be contrary no matter what, but it only seems to delight Xue Yang that much more.
“Aw, the little princess has some bite,” he mocks him and then swiftly moves the knife from his cheek to his neck. “But if the little princess isn’t careful, my hand might just slip,” he says, punctuating the last words with increasing pressure on his neck.
“Don’t kill him yet,” Su She suddenly speaks up but Xue Yang still hesitates for long moments before he moves away.
“It doesn’t matter if he’s alive or not as long as his parents come for him,” Xue Yang says with a shrug and now Jiang Cheng begins to shake for real.
His parents are not going to come for him, that much he knows, and as soon as Xue Yang and Su She realize that, he’s dead.
His father will probably not even notice that Jiang Cheng is missing, even if someone should demand a ransom, and his mother will only see this as a training opportunity.
Jiang Cheng knows that he’s too weak, too soft for the family business—always has been—and his mother will certainly think that this is what he deserves if he can’t even manage to get himself out of this situation.
But Jiang Cheng doesn’t enjoy being the heir to an underground organization; doesn’t want to spend his days training and fighting and killing when all he really wants to do is become a veterinarian but he realizes now that his stubborn wish is probably going to cost him his life now.
Wei Wuxian might come to his rescue—he delights in fighting and is good at it, too—but Madam Yu sent him out on business. By the time Wei Wuxian will return to the country, Jiang Cheng will be just another body, dropped into the harbour.
“You’re wasting your time,” Jiang Cheng spits out, despite the cold grip of fear around his heart, and gets another fist to his face for his trouble, but that side of his face is already numb, so it’s not like he feels it much.
“And why is that, little princess?” Xue Yang drawls out, moving the knife against Jiang Cheng’s neck once again. “Are you so unlovable that no one will come for you?” he asks with a lunatic smile and while the thought cuts Jiang Cheng deeper than any knife could, he nods.
“Yes,” he says, once he thinks his voice will hold and he relishes the way both Xue Yang and Su She freeze. “If you think my mother will come for me, you’re mistaken,” Jiang Cheng goes on, forces out between clenched teeth. “She’ll probably thank you for getting rid of some useless baggage when you deliver my body to her.”
“As if she would thank us for killing the heir,” Su She says with a frown, but Jiang Cheng can tell that he’s already doubting his actions.
“Sorry to disappoint,” Jiang Cheng says with a laugh. “But my father made Wei Wuxian the heir,” he tells them, trying not to let it hurt him yet again, but of course it’s always useless.
He knows his parents think very lowly of him for wanting a more normal life, a life that doesn’t involve constant killing and fights and territory disputes and it should have stopped hurting long ago, but of course that’s not how that works.
He’s useless and unloved and Jiang Cheng knows it well.
Not completely, a tiny voice in Jiang Cheng whispers and he tries his damn hardest to push that thought away.
It’s even more unlikely that Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue are going to come after him and Jiang Cheng knows it.
Lan Xichen left the trade a long while ago—preferring to be a teacher instead of taking over as the head of the family—and Nie Mingjue is not going to risk war with the Jin’s when he’s already in a constant fight with the Wens.
“You can tell Meng Yao that you fucked up big time by getting me,” Jiang Cheng spits out, pushing every thought of Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue away, and instead he thoroughly enjoys how wide Su She’s eyes get.
“You—” he starts but Jiang Cheng only laughs in his face, uncaring of the knife on his neck.
He’s going to die here anyway; a clean cut on his throat would probably be less painful than whatever Xue Yang has planned for him.
“You think I haven’t seen you run after Meng Yao like a lovesick puppy? Who else could be behind this, it’s not like either of you ever had an original thought in your lives,” Jiang Cheng snaps out and it’s only because he knows that he’s going to die here that he dares to be this brave.
“His name is Jin Guangyao,” Su She hisses and Jiang Cheng laughs in his face.
“Just because Jin Guangshan decided to give him a pity name doesn’t mean I have to use it,” Jiang Cheng hisses and then his vision goes dark when Su She hits him yet again.
“Shut up,” Su She yells and Jiang Cheng laughs because it’s so easy, so goddamn easy to rile him up.
“Calm down,” Xue Yang says and that makes Jiang Cheng laugh again, because Xue Yang has made quite the name in their circles for a number of things and being calm is not one of his defining features.
“You said we need him alive,” Xue Yang reminds Su She and when he eyes Jiang Cheng, his blood runs cold.
That’s a mad scientist looking at his next test subject and Jiang Cheng really wishes he would have managed that cut before.
“Maybe we don’t,” Su She spits out and then kicks Jiang Cheng right in the stomach with enough force that the chair topples over.
There’s no sound of breaking bone which is the only reason that Jiang Cheng knows he didn’t break anything, since he can’t feel his arms anymore, but his head hit the concrete rather forcefully and his vision goes yet again dark and spotty.
Xue Yang pulls him back up by his hair and Jiang Cheng clenches his teeth against the painful sound that’s trying to escape his lips. He might be the weakest Jiang that ever has been, but he’s not going to give them the satisfaction of screaming.
Not yet.
If Xue Yang gets to do with him as he pleases Jiang Cheng is under no illusions that he’s going to break rather sooner than later, but not yet.
“Any signs of that bitch yet?” Su She suddenly yells into the warehouse and it’s only then that Jiang Cheng realizes that they are not as alone as he thought.
Su She and Xue Yang definitely came prepared because there are about fifteen to twenty henchmen hanging around in the warehouse and if Madam Yu were to come, Jiang Cheng would worry.
Even is mother is just one person after all. But since she absolutely will not come to save Jiang Cheng from this dilemma he just finds the massive presence of henchmen amusing.
All these people called here to see one pathetic little person die. Jiang Cheng wonders how many of them will think this a waste of their time and how many of them will dare to say that directly to Su She’s face.
“Nothing is happening,” one of the henchmen replies and Su She klicks his tongue in apparent displeasure.
“Where the hell is she?”
“I told you, she’s not going to come. You went after the wrong one. Should have gotten Wei Wuxian if you wanted my mother to show up,” Jiang Cheng tells them and gets another cut to his cheek for that.
“You shouldn’t be speaking so much,” Xue Yang says as he leans down. “Maybe I should take your tongue, how would the little princess like that?” he asks and Jiang Cheng rolls his eyes because he doesn’t think it really warrants an answer.
When Xue Yang cuts his other cheek Jiang Cheng figures Xue Yang didn’t like that answer much.
“So you think no one is coming for you, huh?” Xue Yang asks him, staring at his knife as he turns it around and around. “Why aren’t you begging for your life, little princess?”
“What use is there to beg a madman?” Jiang Cheng snaps back and Xue Yang still for a moment before a dangerous glint enters his eyes.
Maybe Jiang Cheng should have just held his tongue for once in his life, he thinks, right before Xue Yang drags the knife down Jiang Cheng’s front, putting just enough pressure on it to cut open his shirt.
“Oh, I’m going to have so much fun with you, little princess,” Xue Yang drawls out and Jiang Cheng can tell that he wants to get started with that right away, but suddenly there’s a sword pressed to the underside of his chin.
Xue Yang freezes and slightly backs away when the sword makes him, and Jiang Cheng cranes his neck around to see what is going on.
He did not expect to see Lan Xichen behind him.
“Xichen?” Jiang Cheng whispers and it’s only then that Lan Xichen tears his eyes away from Xue Yang and looks down at Jiang Cheng.
“We’re here, my heart,” Lan Xichen says and does something with his other hand that loosens the robe bound around Jiang Cheng.
Lan Xichen leans down to press a kiss to Jiang Cheng’s forehead and it’s only then that he seems to notice the blood on his cheeks.
“You’re bleeding,” Lan Xichen says, and his voice is hard and Jiang Cheng has never seen him look so cold. “Someone made you bleed,” he goes on and his glare turns towards Xue Yang, who has the good thought to back away a few more steps.
“Xichen, it’s not so bad,” Jiang Cheng tries, because he knows that Lan Xichen left this life for a reason, that he never wanted to kill again and Jiang Cheng isn’t sure if he can stand it if Lan Xichen breaks that promise to himself for Jiang Cheng.
“That’s Zewu-Jun,” one of the henchmen whispers and immediately panic breaks out where before everyone was frozen in surprise.
“Kill him!” someone yells, but before anyone can pull their gun, Lan Xichen is already moving, Shuoyue steady in his hand.
Jiang Cheng stumbles up, not entirely sure what he’s going to do or how he’s going to stop Lan Xichen, but he just knows that he has to try. But before he can decide on anything, two arms encircle him from behind and pull him towards a chest.
Jiang Cheng stiffens, before he recognizes the embrace and he fully leans into the body behind him.
“Mingjue,” he whispers and is rewarded with another kiss to his temple.
“It’s okay now, my heart,” Nie Mingjue whispers and tightens his grip on Jiang Cheng. “We got you know.”
“Mingjue, shouldn’t we—Xichen—he—” Jiang Cheng tries to say, but Nie Mingjue only hums, turning his gaze towards Lan Xichen.
It almost looks like he’s dancing from one henchmen to another, but whenever he leaves no one is left standing, Shuoyue nothing more but a silver flash in his hand.
“He’s magnificent, our light, isn’t he?” Nie Mingjue asks and Jiang Cheng has to admit that Nie Mingjue is right.
It almost looks like art, the way Lan Xichen is moving, the way his hair is flowing behind him and Jiang Cheng could watch him for hours.
Except that Lan Xichen never wanted to kill again and he walked away from the family business for good.
“He shouldn’t do this, he doesn’t want this,” Jiang Cheng whispers, and he’s ashamed to find that his voice is shaking with how relieved he is that at least someone came for him.
“He wants to,” Nie Mingjue says and kisses Jiang Cheng’s cheek, mindful of the cut there. “For you, he’d lead his family into war if it would protect you,” Nie Mingjue lowly tells him and Jiang Cheng shudders with his words.
“And you?” he dares to ask, slightly turning around in Nie Mingjue’s arms. “What would you do?” he wants to know and Nie Mingjue gives him a wicked smile.
“I would let Huaisang burn the world for you,” Nie Mingjue says and Jiang Cheng has to close his eyes against the tears that are threatening to spill over at that.
They all know that Wen Ruohan is only still alive because Nie Mingjue hopes to kill him personally; Nie Huaisang has at least a dozen plans that would kill him instantly if not anonymously and the only reason that hasn’t happened yet is because Nie Mingjue is telling him not to.
If Nie Mingjue would just unleash Nie Huaisang onto the world, letting him do what he wants, however he sees fit, it would be pure chaos. Some days Jiang Cheng suspects it’s only Nie Mingjue’s strong sense of right and wrong that stops Nie Huaisang.
If that should fall away—if Nie Mingjue should give him his blessing—Jiang Cheng can barely contemplate it.
“I thought no one was coming,” Jiang Cheng admits, shaking with how weak that makes him, but Nie Mingjue and Lan Xichen know about his family life, about his insecurities.
Jiang Cheng thinks that maybe he can tell them this much as well.
“They wanted to kill you,” Nie Mingjue says and his voice is dark.
“And I thought they would,” Jiang Cheng whispers and Nie Mingjue turns him completely around and crushes him to his chest.
“Never,” he promises. “We would never let that happen to you. We will always come for you,” Nie Mingjue promises him and Jiang Cheng lifts his hand to grip his shirt.
“Does he need help?” Jiang Cheng asks when he thinks that his voice is steady, and he startles only slightly when a third hand lightly touches his back.
“No, I don’t,” Lan Xichen easily says and then tugs Jiang Cheng out of Nie Mingjue’s arms to take a good look at him.
Lan Xichen is covered in blood, but he seemingly doesn’t care about that at all, because his gaze is entirely fixed on Jiang Cheng. There’s still a cold glint to it that makes Jiang Cheng shudder.
“Where are you hurt?” he demands to know and Jiang Cheng shrugs.
“Some punches to the face, one kick to my stomach, the cuts you see,” he sums up, and he knows that he came away pretty easily from this.
Xue Yang’s face promised him so much more pain than those simple injuries.
“I should have made it hurt more,” Lan Xichen lowly says and Jiang Cheng can feel an incredulous laugh bubble up in his throat when a painfilled groan reaches his ear.
It seems like Lan Xichen did not immediately kill all of them, but left some of them to suffer.
“Xue Yang and Su She?” he asks and Lan Xichen’s face instantly darkens.
“Dead,” he promises and Jiang Cheng has no reason not to believe him.
He saw how deadly Lan Xichen was with Shuoyue. If he says they are dead, then they are.
“I should have killed Su She the moment he left the family,” Lan Xichen goes on, clearly beating himself up over that, and Jiang Cheng steps forward to cup Lan Xichen’s face between his hands.
“You saved me,” Jiang Cheng says. “That’s all that matters.”
Lan Xichen works his jaw at that, clearly wanting to argue, but Nie Mingjue puts his hand to Lan Xichen’s neck and lightly squeezes.
“Our heart is safe, my light,” he lowly says. “It’s okay. You can come back now.”
Lan Xichen relaxes as he hears his voice and he takes one deep breath before that dangerous glint vanishes out of his eye.
“My heart, are you okay?” Lan Xichen asks, and now he’s the Lan Xichen Jiang Cheng recognizes because his voice is soft and slightly panicked and Jiang Cheng knows way better how to deal with this than a vengeful, murderous Lan Xichen.
“I’m good,” he promises him, but Nie Mingjue shakes his head.
“He thought no one was coming for him,” Nie Mingjue says, and Jiang Cheng has a split second to feel betrayed by that, before Lan Xichen crushes him to his chest.
“We will always come for you,” he whispers and Jiang Cheng clutches to his shirt, completely uncaring that Lan Xichen is getting blood all over him.
“It’s just—my mother didn’t,” Jiang Cheng whispers, even though he damn well knew that his mother would never bother to come for him.
She probably thinks that he should manage to break free of this himself, and if he wasn’t strong enough to do so, then so be it.
“That’s because she doesn’t know how to love you right,” Nie Mingjue says and Lan Xichen nods in agreement.
“Not like we do,” Lan Xichen adds and Jiang Cheng’s eyes start to burn again.
“Can we go home now?” he asks, his voice choked up, and Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue immediately lead him out of the warehouse towards their car.
Lan Xichen slides into the back with Jiang Cheng, while Nie Mingjue gets behind the wheel and it’s not long before they are on their way away from the warehouse.
“Let me see, my heart,” Lan Xichen says and he tilts Jiang Cheng’s face this and that way to get a good look at his face, but it’s clear he doesn’t have anything at hand to treat Jiang Cheng’s wounds with, so Jiang Cheng is content to wait until they are home.
Once they get there, Lan Xichen immediately rushes him into the bathroom.
“Shirt off,” he demands and usually Jiang Cheng would give him a lewd look for that, but his head is still aching and he’s beginning to really feel all his injuries, so he simply obeys Lan Xichen’s orders.
Lan Xichen sucks in a surprised breath when Jiang Cheng shrugs the shirt off and it’s enough to bring Nie Mingjue to their side as well.
“You should have made it hurt a lot more,” Nie Mingjue presses out as he reaches out to trail his fingers over the bruises left behind by the rope Xue Yang bound him with.
Jiang Cheng is probably lucky if he regains all of his feeling in his arms, going by how tight they were.
“I should have,” Lan Xichen darkly agrees and Jiang Cheng shakes his head.
“You got me out, that’s all that matters,” he tries but that doesn’t seem too reassuring for Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue.
“My soul, get the big first aid-kit,” Lan Xichen instructs Nie Mingjue after he takes a deep breath and Nie Mingjue turns around on the heel of his foot.
Jiang Cheng can hear Nie Mingjue punch the wall a few times, before he regains his control and he looks down at his feet.
“I’m sorry to make you worry like this,” Jiang Cheng says, trying to hide the already blossoming bruises on his chest, but of course Lan Xichen doesn’t let him.
“He’s not mad at you,” Lan Xichen says and even though Jiang Cheng knows that, it still makes a tiny knot of worry in his chest disappear. “How do you feel?” Lan Xichen asks him, as he gets started on cleaning the cuts on his cheeks and Jiang Cheng shrugs, but immediately regrets that decision.
“My head is throbbing,” he admits and Lan Xichen hums at that.
“Probably a concussion and the aftereffects from whatever they used to knock you out.”
“Blunt force,” Jiang Cheng drily says, because he does remember very well how something had hit him from behind.
Lan Xichen huffs out a laugh at that, and then he makes grabby hands when Nie Mingjue comes back with the big first aid-kit.
Jiang Cheng doesn’t think it’s entirely necessary to bring out the big guns, but before he can argue, Nie Mingjue sends him one look and Jiang Cheng closes his mouth again.
“Let us do this for you,” Nie Mingjue says, and leans forward to brush a kiss over Jiang Cheng’s forehead.
“Fine,” Jiang Cheng sighs and then allows Lan Xichen to disinfect all of his wounds, even those that are only bruises, and then Lan Xichen diligently dresses all of them up.
“I feel like a mummy,” Jiang Cheng mutters when Lan Xichen finally deems him done and Nie Mingjue laughs at that, which makes Jiang Cheng suspect that he’s right about it, too.
“Are you hungry?” Nie Mingjue asks him when he leads him out of the bathroom and Jiang Cheng carefully shakes his head.
“I want to sleep,” he whispers, damn well knowing that neither Lan Xichen nor Nie Mingjue are going to let him sleep uninterrupted with a concussion.
“You can doze,” Lan Xichen very predictably yells from the bathroom and Jiang Cheng would roll his eyes at him if only his head doesn’t feel like it would explode any second now.
“I definitely need to lay down,” Jiang Cheng says, exhaustion finally making itself known and Nie Mingjue is quick to lead him to the bedroom.
“Come here, my heart,” he says as he lays down first, and then he pulls Jiang Cheng into his arms.
Jiang Cheng isn’t always down for cuddling, but today he thinks there is no safer space to be in then Nie Mingjue’s arms, and so he settles down easily.
“I’m glad you came for me,” Jiang Cheng mutters, and feels Nie Mingjue brush a hand over his head.
“I’m glad we were in time,” Nie Mingjue gives back just as lowly and Jiang Cheng moves closer to him, tries to entirely hide in Nie Mingjue’s arms.
It doesn’t quite work, but when Lan Xichen joins them and moulds himself to Jiang Cheng’s back, it almost feels like enough.
“I thought I was going to die,” Jiang Cheng suddenly sobs out, everything hitting him at once now and he can feel how Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue tighten their arms around him.
“But you didn’t,” they try to reassure him, but now that the tears are flowing, Jiang Cheng can’t stop them anymore.
He cries and he cries, and then he cries some more, and all the while Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue patiently hold him and tell him how much they love him, and when Jiang Cheng finally calms down, he instantly drifts off to sleep, headache be damned.
At least in the arms of his light and soul there is nothing he has to fear.

Hello sunshine of my dash! I saw your fic pf Thomas first rune and loved it and wondered if you would consider doing the same but with Christopher by any chance please?
Of course, anon with a heart of gold! Christopher is the love of my life so I will always write about him <3
call my dad | Kit's First Rune -- Christopher Lightwood
Christopher Lightwood was a scientist. A man of logic and fact. He'd seen his cousins and elder sister go through their own training milestones as Nephilim and knew there was nothing to be frightened of. It was an important role he was born into. Though his passion and ambition was elsewhere, he would always answer the call of shadowhunting.
But, perhaps, this call could take a message.
"It'll be perfectly fine, Kit," Anna told him from her sitting position on his bed. She was much taller than him, and Kit mourned the uneven softness of his bed that was going to remain once she left. "It only hurts for a few seconds. After that, getting your Marks will be easy! Mam and Dad have many Marks."
"Mam and Dad are bigger than me," he answered. Christopher stood before the mirror in his room, preparing for his First Runing. He was ten now, old enough to receive his Marks and accompany his parents on patrols. Though, Christopher was not fashion-inclined, not like Anna was, and had put on his red waistcoat backwards.
Anna silently stood from the bed and helped him dress properly. Anna always helped him navigate the world. He had so many questions and so little answers. At least he had Anna. "There you go," she declared, stepping back. This time, he was dressed correctly, head to toe in ceremonial red that matched the shade his sister wore, and what his parents would be wearing. "I must say, Kit, and I mean this with love: red does not suit you very well."
.
The halls of the Ceremony Hall in Alicante were vast. Christopher had been here many times for his cousins' ceremonies and remembered all the little twists and turns of the buildings that he'd found while waiting until his parents found him and took him along. This time, however, he did not have the luxury of wandering about.
He sat with Thomas, now, against one of the many walls. His sisters, Barbara and Eugenia, whispered together across the way from them. They were never too far from wherever Thomas was, just like Anna was never too far from wherever he was. Thomas would get cross about it sometimes, but Kit didn't mind much.
"I can tell you're worrying," Thomas said after a while of silence. "You haven't told me any new science facts the whole time we've been here."
"Thomas," Christopher said, then sat up straight. "My heartbeat feels quite irregular, and I do believe the air has gotten thicker in here. These are symptoms of something, of course."
Thomas turned to him, wide-eyed. "Well, why are you just sitting there, then?" he asked, wild. "I'll get Aunt Cecily."
Christopher shook his head violently and snatched Thomas's wrist before he could stand. His cousin looked at him, concerned. "Don't get my mum," he told him. "Call my dad. I want my dad."
Thomas's expression went from wild to quizzical, but he only nodded and said okay before dashing off to the room next door, where their parents were putting together the party for after the ceremony. Barbara and Eugenia's whispers vanished. "Kit?" Barbara called, her voice concerned. Barbara was the eldest of his cousins. She was almost eighteen now. "Is everything all right?"
Before he could give an answer that likely would have sent her and Eugenia into a flurry--as what happened often when Thomas was having a fit--the doors to the reception hall opened and Thomas popped out, fiddling with his fingers. Christopher's father emerged behind him. He could always tell when his father was worried because he had a habit of furrowing his eyebrows when he was. Thomas pointed toward Christopher's direction and his father's attention followed until he spotted him. He said something to Thomas, and patted his shoulder, before making his way toward Christopher.
"Girls, would you mind helping finish up in there?" his father said to Barbara and Eugenia, who stood quickly. "Your aunt is fretting about with the final details."
They nodded and moved swiftly inside, right behind Thomas.
Christopher watched his father approach until he was kneeling in front of him. He was wearing a red suit like Christopher's, and his Marks stood out in stark contrast against his skin. His skin would look like that one day, too. "Everything all right, Kit?" his father asked. "Thomas said you were not feeling well."
"There is something wrong with my heart," he said. "The beat is not regular. And there is something wrong with the air, too. It is very thick in here, like it is in London near the Thames."
Gabriel's expression softened and he gave Christopher a small smile before lowering himself to a seated position before him. "That does sound concerning," he pondered. "Do you have an idea of the cause?"
Christopher shook his head.
"I think I do," his father said. "It is similar to fear, though you do not seem afraid. I believe it is hesitancy. Apprehension, perhaps?"
"Apprehension?"
Gabriel nodded. "I know it can be daunting, getting your first Marks, especially when you're the last of your cousins to get them. It is a big milestone, and it is perfectly normal to feel nervous."
"So, there isn't anything wrong with me?"
"Not one bit," Gabriel confirmed. He leaned forward gave Christopher a reassuring smile. "Everyone gets nervous, even me."
This surprised Christopher. His father was the one he always went to for certainty. "Really?"
"Of course," he said. "I was nervous at my First Runing, as well. I was also nervous when I asked your mother to marry me. Then I was nervous at our wedding. I was nervous when you and your sister were born. It is normal to be nervous about big, important things. The key is to remember that and remind yourself it is okay."
Christopher nodded slowly, processing his father's advice. He remembered his mother telling him, once, that his father had a knack for getting quite worked up with worry and nerves when it came to him and Anna. It is because he loves you very much, she had explained. When you love someone very much, you want them to be happy and safe and healthy, and worry when they are not, or may not be.
"Does Mam get nervous?" Christopher asked. His father laughed, looking surprised.
"She does," he answered slowly. "Just, not as much as I do. She is very confident, like your sister. Mostly, she worries about you both."
"Because she loves us?"
Gabriel smiled. "That is exactly why."
Christopher nodded again, and began to feel his heart beat slow and the air becoming breathable. He was grateful his father had come. His family always joked that his mother was always the better one when it cames to words--that his father was known for stumbling over himself and saying odd things. Mam always wore a strange smile whenever someone mentioned it, and Dad turned red and demanded to change the conversation. "Thank you, Dad," Christopher said quietly when he regained his steadiness.
His father let out a deep breath and Kit saw his shoulders drop their tension. He'd been right--his father was concerned, but now he was not. "Do you think I did all right? Your mother is much better at this sort of thing."
"I think so," Christopher answered, a small smile growing. "But, if you didn't think you were any good, why not send Mam instead?"
Gabriel blinked. "Well, because you asked for me," he said as if it was obvious. Christopher's smile grew. "I will always come when you call, Kit. Either of us or both of us. And I'll admit, I am very happy you asked for me. I worry sometimes that you and your sister bore of me."
"Mam does say you worry a lot for no reason."
Gabriel laughed, loud and boistorous, and reached forward to haul Christopher into a bear hug. "How much does she speak of me behind my back?" his father laughed, and kissed his head. "Never mind. I don't want to know."
"Probably not," Christopher agreed.
Gabriel pulled back, looking happy and certain, which made Christopher feel happy and certain, too. "Let's go find your mother and sister, have your ceremony, and then you and I rush back here before everyone else. Your Mam made you lemon tarts and we must beat everyone back if we're to get the good pieces."
Sometimes, his father really did know exactly the right things to say.

Adoption (part 2)
A gift for @a-flower-lover! This wound up being more along the lines of vignettes... Little snapshots into Danny’s life after being adopted by Clockwork. I hope that’s ok! (PART 1)
.
Mr. Lancer had met Charles Worth before, albeit briefly. The man had fostered a number of Casper High students and with that responsibility came parent-teacher conferences. He had struck Mr. Lancer as being steady and reliable, if, perhaps, impersonal, despite his predilection for clocks and ominous announcements. A decent foster parent, if not... ideal.
Mr. Worth just didn't seem to connect with his fosters, although he certainly didn't neglect them. Then, too, were the persistent rumors that his home was haunted.
Alright. So, Mr. Lancer didn't think Charles Worth was really a children person. Oh, he was a good person! It took one to do well as a foster parent, but... yeah.
Which was why the scene in front of him surprised him so much. Not the who of it, but the what.
The who was Daniel Fenton and Charles Worth waiting outside the office. The what was smiling and having a conversation. True, Mr. Fenton's smile looked like it was pasted on over several layers of anxiety, but it was genuine.
"Mr. Worth, Mr. Fenton?" he said, tamping down his surprise. "Come on in."
"Hi," said Mr. Fenton, his voice hoarse.
Mr. Worth smiled and nodded, pushing him up with his cane.
But Mr. Fenton must have noticed the curious look Mr. Lancer was giving him. "I knew Cl- Uh. Mr. Worth before this." He winced and smiled widely to cover it up. "So, uh, make up work? Since I missed the past week?"
"Yes, well, circumstances being what they are," aka his parents trying to murder him in public, in broad daylight (and didn't that give Mr. Lancer a chill?), "your teachers have put together a few packets for you to look over this weekend. They should get you more or less up to speed with where your classes are. I'm also willing to stay after school, to help you with anything you've missed in my classes."
.
Jazz knocked on the door of the Worth house. She had been made aware, via various supernatural (she did not particularly appreciate writing suddenly appearing on her fogged-up bathroom mirror) and mundane (Danny did have her phone number) means, that the man known as Charles Worth was actually the ghost known as Clockwork.
How this had occurred was not entirely clear to her. She assumed ghost powers, specifically time travel, were involved somehow.
But, to be honest, that didn't really matter to her. It was secondary, less than.
What was important here was that she hadn't been legally allowed to see her little brother in over a month. To keep her parents from contacting him. To keep her from letting her parents near him. Because they were legally barred from seeing him.
Because they had tried to kill him.
Jazz planned on never seeing her parents again, as soon as she got all of her and Danny's things from their house.
But now that prohibition had been lifted, because Clockwork had forced through what had to be the speediest adoption in the history of adoptions, and Danny was now legally his son. In the eyes of both humans and ghosts. Which was... Well. Danny seemed to be excited about it, anyway. He'd looked up to Clockwork for a while, from what he told Jazz.
Internally, Jazz had more than a bit of trepidation. She didn't know what adoption meant to ghosts, didn't have any context for it. And ghosts, even the good ones, even Danny, tended to be... obsessive. Extreme. She wasn't sure how that would translate when it came to interpersonal relationships.
The door creaked open, ever so slowly, the squeak it made grating on her eardrums. At first, it appeared to have opened on its own, then a hand gripped the edge of the door, and Clockwork, in human guise, leaned out from behind it.
Jazz raised an eyebrow.
Clockwork raised one right back. "This house is haunted, you know," he said.
Okay, never mind. The only thing she had to worry about was the fact that her brother and his mentor both had terrible senses of humor.
"Hi, Jazz!"
Being used to having a half-ghost brother, Jazz only yelped a little bit at his unexpected appearance behind her. Then she sighed and ruffled his hair. He hugged her and then bounced over the lintel into the house.
"Come on! I want to show you my room! It's so cool!" His voice became fainter as he went farther into the house, until his last exclamation was an eerie whisper.
Jazz looked at Clockwork as she stepped inside. "Is he doing that on purpose?"
Clockwork smiled blandly. "I am very fond of the acoustics in this house."
She looked at her surroundings with a skeptical eye. "It seems... dark in here."
"We are ghosts," said Clockwork. "Daniel is very excited to show you his room, by the way."
"He's human, too, don't forget," said Jazz.
"I won't."
.
The house was creepy.
Really creepy.
This was coming from someone who had spent most of her life living under the same roof as two ghost-obsessed mad scientists.
But Danny seemed to enjoy it, and he was the one living here. It wasn't like there was anything wrong with the house. Or anything in the house. It was just... off.
Danny was half-ghost, however, so maybe this was something he needed. Perhaps not all of his peppiness could be attributed to being the heck away from his murderous former parents.
Even so. Jazz had a duty, both as a big sister and an aspiring psychologist.
"I already read it," said Clockwork, setting a cup of tea down in front of her.
"What?"
"The book you were about to give me. I've already read it. And a number of others. I am not the kind of person who goes into things unprepared."
Danny rolled into the kitchen on the ceiling. This was easy to ignore. After her life, an Exorcist reference made by her over-excited younger brother, was, well. Underwhelming.
(Okay, she was a little distracted, but only by his glee.)
"Well," she said. "That's good."
.
"I know this house is out of the way," said Clockwork, craning his neck to look up at his coworker, "but you are rather conspicuous."
"Hm. Am I?" asked Pandora, craning her neck down to look at her comparatively tiny colleague.
"Yes. At that size, humans with average eyesight will be able to see you from town."
Pandora looked out over the trees. "Interesting," she said, mildly. "Do you think the ghost hunters will come?"
"You've spoken to Daniel."
"Yes. He stopped by earlier today, on his way to visit Mattingly. Although, I suppose you knew that already."
"Indeed I did. May I ask, is it your intention to lure the ghost hunters here, fight them, defeat them, and then leave them just close enough to here to constitute a breach of their terms of bail and the restraining order against them?"
"I am not terribly well-versed in human law," said Pandora, "but, why, yes. That is exactly what I'm doing. Best to get it done while Daniel is visiting friends, isn't it?"
"Yes. If you had done this while he was here, I would be significantly more annoyed." Clockwork smiled the sanguine smile of a parental figure who would commit murder if their child was upset.
Pandora returned a matching grin, one that promised retribution against persons who had harmed said child in the past. "Please, Clockwork. You know me better than that. I wouldn't subject him to being in the presence of those fools."
"Good," said Clockwork, eyes glinting.
.
"Hey, Clockwork? Do you know why there were police cars driving down the- Oh. Hello?" He stopped at the sight of an unfamiliar woman sitting at the dinning room table, next to Clockwork. He blinked and tilted his head to the side. "Wait. Pandora?"
"Perceptive," said the superficially human olive-skinned woman. "You seemed so happy when you stopped by, earlier. I thought I would come check in on you."
"You didn't have to," said Danny, beaming.
"Pandora has been trying to convince me to set her up as one of my relatives," said Clockwork, rolling his eyes. "Would you care for a cup of tea, Daniel?"
"Umm," said Danny, dubiously. "I'll try one, I guess. Does that mean you'll be my aunt?"
Pandora smiled. "Why, yes, it does."
Clockwork groaned theatrically.
.
"Ah," said Mr. Lancer, at the next parent-teacher conference. "Are you Mr. Worth's wife?"
"No," said Pandora, grinning. "I'm his sister."
Mr. Lancer looked back and forth between the two very different-looking entities. "I... see."
"We're adopted," said Clockwork.
"Oh! Alright then. Now, about Daniel..."
.
It was a bit strange to see Danny with so much energy, Sam reflected. Strange, but good.
It just went to show how drained he had become over time, how much the constant ghost attacks and worry, all the lies and stress and impossible expectations had worn away at him over time. She hadn't seen her friend this happy since freshman year. If that.
On the other hand...
"Dude," said Tucker. "Your house is spooky. And this is coming from someone who's been inside a literal mad science lab."
Danny rolled his eyes. "Mad science labs are campy, not spooky. Besides, you knew coming in that this house was haunted." He draped himself over the back of the couch, rolling until he was 'sitting' upside-down. "Anyway, what kind of movie do you want to watch? We've got a bunch, because Clockwork apparently collects media from doomed timelines."
"He's got a hobby?" asked Sam.
"Yeah, three," said Danny. "Gardening- you should talk to him about that, by the way, I think he'd like it- baking, and alternate timeline movies. And some books, too, I think. He's got a huge library back in Long Now. I've read like. Two books from it."
Clockwork's voice floated in from the other room. "You've read significantly more than that, Daniel."
"I guess," said Danny, doubtfully. He flopped off the couch, picked himself up, and started prodding at a shelf of movies. "This is from a timeline where the Earth got beaned by a massive asteroid. It's, like, a romcom, but it was made when everyone knew the asteroid was coming. This one is, uh, this is actually a dramatization of real events, apparently, but their timeline split from ours in like the fifties, so the events are pretty wild." He waved the DVD at them. "It's surreal?"
"How'd they die?" asked Tucker.
"Wacky superscience. No, really. Irradiated the entire planet."
"How do you know?" asked Sam.
"Oh, Clockwork puts notes on the boxes. He thinks it's interesting. And there does seem to be some correlation between how cursed the movies are and how bad the timeline was. Which maybe shouldn't surprise me? I mean, if they were bad timelines..." He shrugged. "Oh, this is a CGI Lion King. I can tell you: very cursed. Absolutely soulless. And this is from a timeline where copyright laws weren't changed, so Mickey Mouse and a bunch of other stuff was in the public domain."
"Isn't that a good timeline?" joked Sam.
"You'd think so," agreed Danny. "But apartheid in South Africa apparently never stopped, and they got a nuclear bomb, and, well... World War Three."
"Is that like, a domino effect, or...?"
"I'm not sure... Anyway. Uh. Genre?" He clapped his hands together.
Tucker leaned forward. "I want the wildest version of the Matrix you have."
"Ooh, good choice. There are, like, six with Will Smith. I haven't watched them all yet, but I think the one where they've got another sequel and Zion is also a- Wait, I shouldn't spoil it."
"After that, can you see if there's a non-crappy version of Dracula?" asked Sam.
"Sure. I haven't seen one yet, but I will look."
"I have popcorn," said Clockwork, entering the room, "and various baked goods. No dairy."
"You're the best."
.
Clockwork selected a thick blanket from the chest, then teleported himself to the living room to drape it over the three teenagers passed out on the couch. Overall, he found pretending to be human oddly enjoyable, but it could be trying at times. Tedious. All the finicky little motions humans had to go through to do the simplest of things added up over the day.
So, Clockwork tended to ease off of them when no one was watching. It made life easier.
Heh. Life.
(He would say that Daniel's puns were rubbing off on him, but in truth Clockwork's sense of humor had been like that for, well. Eons.)
He put the kitchen in order with an absent wave of his hand, and double-checked the stove out of habit. It wasn't nearly as good as his actual oven, back in Long Now, but it was serviceable.
One of Daniel's friends mumbled in their sleep, and Clockwork looked in on them. Still peaceful. It was good for Daniel to have them here. Beneficial for both his human and ghost halves.
He hummed to himself and patted Daniel's head as he thought about their plans for the weekend. He had arranged for some truly aggravating evangelical missionaries to darken their doorstep. It would do Daniel good to inspire a touch of terror. In an entirely controlled and risk-free way, of course. No matter how unpleasant the people coming were, Clockwork had no intention of harming them, or suggesting anything of the sort.
But, well. They were ghosts. Being feared was soothing.
(Clockwork knew this wasn't what Jasmine meant when she suggested Clockwork engage in family bonding activities with Daniel. But what she didn't know...)
.
"I think my teeth are getting sharper," said Danny, pulling a face at the mirror. "Is that normal?" The last was shouted, to get Clockwork's attention. Intellectually, Danny knew he didn't need to do that, but a lifetime of habit was hard to shake.
"It is difficult to say what is normal for someone like you, but many ghosts do have fangs," said Clockwork. "Including myself."
"Hm," said Danny. "This isn't, like, a ghost puberty thing, is it? Because I already used up most of my evil puberty jokes."
"Oh, only most?" Clockwork slid behind him and started rubbing the tension out of his shoulders.
Danny shrugged. "Eh, give or take. But, seriously."
"No, it isn't a ghost puberty thing."
"Oh, good. Because dealing with one puberty is more than enough."
Clockwork was silent. Danny looked up and met troubled eyes in the mirror.
"Clockwork?"
"Daniel," started Clockwork, before giving Danny an uneasy smile. "Speaking of puberty..."
Danny blanched. "No."
"What?"
"No. Nope. Not doing the talk today, no sir. I got that at school."
"Daniel, as strange as Casper High may be at times, I highly doubt they taught you anything about immortality."
"What."
.
"It's why ghosts put so much forethought into relationships like this," explained Clockwork, careful not to look directly at Daniel's hiding place. "They might last forever. I certainly hope this one does."
"But I don't want to be a teenager forever!" wailed Danny. He had mastered the art of making his voice sound like it was coming from a completely different direction than it actually was.
Clockwork was older than human civilization and had been worshiped as a god by several civilizations. He did not wince at the heartbreak in his child's voice.
"Your shapeshifting abilities should come in after a few years," said Clockwork. "You'll be able to pass as older."
Daniel answered with a moan.
"I must confess, I'm not sure why you are so upset about this. I can see that you are, but could you explain why for me?"
"I don't knoooooowww..."
.
"I don't want everyone to die and leave me alone," admitted Danny, hunched over a carton of ice cream. "I don't want to see my- my people die." He sniffled.
"We don't have to stay in Amity Park if you don't want to," said Clockwork.
Danny shook his head. "No! That's worse," he said, hating how his voice tilted into a whine. "That's- I can't abandon them! I can't- can't miss their time. I just..." He let out a huff of air. "It's hard."
Clockwork wrapped an arm around Daniel's shoulders. "It may not help much," he said, "but people in Amity Park have a much higher chance of becoming ghosts. It's the ectoplasm in the air."
"Promise?" asked Danny.
"Promise. Although, who, exactly, becomes a ghost is outside of my control. All I can tell you is that the people here have a better chance."
Danny leaned against Clockwork. "Thanks," he mumbled. "Clockwork?"
"Yes?"
"You don't think I'm a freak, do you?"
"Of course not."
.
Mr. Lancer squinted down at Daniel Fenton's latest assignment with a mix of appreciation, disbelief, and shame. This was easily the best work he had ever received from Daniel. In fact, it rivaled papers he had received from Jasmine.
It made him wonder- How long had Daniel been suffering? What had Daniel been suffering? He was no expert when it came to abuse, but all teachers had some training, and he knew that abusers tended to escalate, starting with something relatively innocuous and ending with a travesty. For things to progress to attempted murder... What had it started as? When had it begun?
(Could Mr. Lancer have stopped it?)
(That question would haunt him more than any ghost.)
Well, there was a silver lining to this, Mr. Lancer supposed. He had rarely seen two people who got along as well as Daniel and Charles Worth. It was good, he thought, for the man to have someone in his life on a more permanent basis, rather than the revolving door of temporary foster children.
How rapidly the adoption went through was a little odd, but... Mr. Lancer shrugged. Undoubtedly, Mr. Worth had taken the time over his years as a foster parent to familiarize himself with the system, and with Daniel's former parents unfit to be anywhere near children...
He shrugged again and stamped Daniel's paper with an A+.
