Character Information: Odil
Name: Odil
Rank: Officer
Designation: Silver
Gender: Female (She/Her)
Affiliation: T̸h̶e̴ ̵G̴o̷v̶e̸r̷n̸m̵e̷n̸t̵ The Fungle
Cause of Death: Burnt Alive
Personality:
Odil is very kind. Even as she joined the military alongside her brother, Odil always prioritized doing what was right. Despite her rather…menacing appearance, she is something of a cinnamon roll. She enjoys helping others, and she’s definitely the softer of the pair.
Story:
Odil was born a few minutes after her brother Jitil, and the two were thick as thieves from the start. Sadly, the two were also placed into the foster system at a young age due to their parents' arrests. They had to fight to stay together, though it got easier when they would cause problems whenever attempts to separate them were made.
Thankfully, neither of them ended up on the streets, however they did eventually age out of the system. Odil, the caretaker of the two, suggested that they join the military, since finding a job with their scattered record would be…difficult to say the least.
They enlisted together, begging to be kept at each others sides, and whether it was because the recruiting officer had a soft spot for kids or because the two had literally nobody else, they were assigned to the same base camp on Earth.
As they finished their first enlistment period, they decided to attend Officer Training Camp, and they spent some time there. When the war against the Imposters broke out, the siblings, with nothing tying them to the planet, shipped out to space to fight against the aliens.
The siblings hopped from ship to ship, heading exploration missions to try and locate the Imposters home planet. However, they were eventually reassigned to Polus after their failures to find a planet of Imposters. They served under Commander Olo, and grew close to the man who acted as a father figure to them.
Odil spent most of her time on base in the laboratory, studying the movement of planets and inspecting the samples other soldiers would bring her. She also served as Rouvan’s aid whenever he needed help with the medical equipment.
After the war ended, and the soldiers were recalled to Earth, Odil and Jitil were split up for the first time in their military career. Odil was assigned undercover to the Toppat missions, where she ended up being assigned to the Submarine Art-ica. The mission was…simultaneously stressful and monotonous. The days blurred together, even as people were quite literally being sacrificed to the ocean and murdered during the night.
Thankfully, Odil was able to get her intel and deliver it, being taken off the mission and awarded a “vacation” with her brother and Olo. Said vacation may or may not have been escorting a prisoner on a cruise liner in order to keep anyone from knowing that said prisoner was onboard but c’est la vie.
However, the cruise liner was attacked by a long-range Toppat missile, and the Odil found herself on a tropical island along with her brother, Olo, the prisoner, and a handful of civilians. Let us not forget that said island was also inhabited by a parasitic mushroom that was spreading across literally everything that moved (and even the stuff that didn’t).
Thanks to her military-grade equipment, Odil managed to delay the Fungle from infecting her for quite a while, however, after the Commander was infected and Odil knew his body would need to be killed to prevent the mushroom from using it. As she and Jitil killed the Commander’s body, the Fungle was finally able to spread to her and her brother using their contact. And when they realized just how much of their mind was still intact, despite the calm and peace radiating through them from the Fungle Hivemind, well…they didn’t get much sleep that night, instead washing his body respectfully so that he could go home in dignity.
However, their plans to bring the commander home were foiled by a rather fire-happy individual who set them on fire, using the mushroom spores to accelerate and fuel their flames.

Day 100: Princess and Knight AU
Or Day 81, but my brain took the prompt and ran with it.
Lore. or something:
In a world where the Island is all good and well, has a monarchy ruling over it and Siffrin is the heir to the throne. Cracking under the pressure of their position, Siffrin wants to escape, but is unable to leave his position empty, so in desperation he makes a wish for a "perfect replacement", except who could be a perfect replacement if not, well, themself! Loop is made, in that moment a being that has all of their knowledge and experiences but isn't "them" (point of view) seems perfect, they will do great! And Siffrin leaves, only to later realize that, hey, that's like them, literally them, they abandoned themself to a life that both of them hate.
Fast forward a couple of years, the Island is in political turmoil, the heir to the throne, Loop, is kidnapped by King, a member of an offshoot branch of the royal family that demands for a transfer of power. His base is in Vaugarde and outside of the Island's legislation, unable to send official forces, the royal family instead issues a notice "the one who saves the heir will get their hand in marriage", but as it goes with the Island it's not just a motivation for some hero, it's a wish, one made to keep the heir alive for that to happen.
Enter Siffrin, who became a wandering knight after his escape, currently travelling with the party (assembled for different reasons than canon). He catches word of what is happening with the island right now and well, he never stopped regretting what he did, but at some point all the marks left by the life outside the castle became too much to be able to seamlessly return to the life before. But isn't marrying someone you don't know, with no way to refuse just the worst? It's high time they stopped running running away from their responsibilities. So he dons his armour, leaves camp in secret under the cover of the night and goes to rescue.
When they see him, Loop is livid. Siffrin left them all this time to deal with his shit just to return now?? They reconvene with the party and it's time for the road to the Island, very tense and heartbreaking conversations, living up to responsibility, healing and severely confused onlookers.

Extraterrestrial Satellite Communication | Loop
"Oh? So you don't follow the script, and say your lines exactly the same way every time, to make sure your party doesn't think you're acting weird?"
Or a small thought of a hsr and isat crossover lead to me trying to imitate the style of character announcements!
From my notes Loop starts as a 4*, one that'll always be there to help if needed, almost Asta-like, but has an optional Two Hats related 5* that's actually changes the path to Hunt similar to Siffrin's base path
In case of Siffrin he's like Trailblazer in that regard changing path at least once Story-related reasons
Tumblr media
Like becoming Lightning Nihility at Act 4-5!
I honestly just had fun sorting and imagining everyone in that setting
Just im case non-hsr players wonder
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But in Loop's case they follow Elation actually, but that's not a playable path, so it's a Sparkle situation basically
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or at least that's what I thought of when thinking this up shruggs

cishet!odile familyquest
As you walk back to that [COFFEE SHOP] with Odile, you think about how much of a pain this was. Or rather, how much worse it coulda been, had the Kid not pointed you in the right direction. When you finally got around to asking Mrs. Odile how you could help her, she told you she was looking for a book on classic christian marriage customs. You couldn't find the stupid book at the library, and were just about to loop forward to the house to go look through their library when the kid told you they had seen the barista looking through a book on marriage customs. When you told Odile the good news, she dropped everything and asked you to show her.
Talking to the barista turns out less helpful than you hoped, and now you and Odile have to go to that house without the flowers. As you wander generally in that direction, you and her chat with a couple townsfolk, letting you get Odiles take on various situations around town. You find yourself stifling smiles at points, and practically gape when she baa's at a sheep. Its overall a nice stroll, and you feel a bit closer with Odile by the time you get to the Beautiful lady's house.
Turns out, she's about as helpful as the barista was, having gotten robbed by some snot-nosed kids a while back. She babbles pleasantries about the runts, but you mostly tune her out. Odile seems annoyed as well, though she's certainly better at calming down than you. You've barely decided not to screech at the gaggle of goblins when you roll up to their gathering place, an admittedly cool rock.
That wizard-obsessed kid is a tough cookie, made all the harder by his disdain for your clothes and insistence that you would look better with a "wizards cap", which is stupid because those have absolute zero brim, and you need your eyes shaded. You end up trying to buy the kid off, only for the kid to be richer than you. Luckily Odile swoops in, giving you four coins to pay them off. And then, just when you think this quest for a stupid marriage book is over, it turns out the kids gave it to ms. stares-a-lot, the barista's kid!
As you and Odile storm back into the coffeshop, the only reason you aren't glaring down at the troublemaker is because you're genuinely worried Odile is going to start chewing out the brat. Playing good cop, you coax the book from the spawns grubby grippers, with the barista looking suitably mortified. Leaving the store, you and Odile go off to a field to cool off and let her read the book. As much as you hated that stupid chain of kids obfuscating the book, you think you would still go through it all again to have gone on that walk with Odile.
As you and Odile find a good spot to sit in the clearing (not THE clearing, thank god), you notice she looks conflicted about something. Once you've both sat down, you cant help but notice she hasn't opened the book, and still looks conflicted, so you decide its time to do what you do best, and distract her from whatever's bothering her with inane chatter.
"So, looking forward to the marriage with your wedding planner husband?"
"...What?"
"Your husband. 's he a wedding planner?"
She sighs.
"Siffrin, can you keep a secret?"
"sure, why not?"
"no Siffrin, an actual secret."
oh.
"oh. Yeah, sure, I promise to keep whatever you're about to tell me a secret."
"Siffrin, I don't have a husband. Or, at least I don't plan on having a husband."
...what?
"y'kidding? then whats-" you point to the book "-THAT for?"
"It's a final attempt to convince myself that I do want to married, or at least it was."
"Truth be told, I do have a betrothed waiting in Ka Bue, I just had no true say in the matter."
"At my age, Siffrin, it is hard to be single. people will call you a great many things, most of which will be untrue, and it will be harder to find a job. this goes double for women, and is even worse when you appear a foreigner. It may not seem so to you, but to Ka Bue, my features are foreign. Small things, such as my hair being slightly too thick, my brows too thin, enough for me to look different, and therefore be considered a foreigner by many. "(<-mostly ripped from the familyquest, soz)
"It is tough, growing to the pinnacle of your field while those around you seek to tear you down simply because you look different or never had the time to try a relationship, to never have any close friends, because there has always been a disconnect between you and those around you. And yet, when I think about that period of my life, I cannot feel anything but pride in what I accomplished, in how I proved to those around me that my path through life was no lesser than theirs."
"my father, however, was worried. do not think ill of him, because he had my best interest at heart, and made one mistake in a lifetime of support. A mistake, however, he did make. He was approached one day by a man I had considered a acquaintance, a friend if I truly push it, and the man asked for my hand in marriage. my father gave his blessing, and I was informed of our union the following weekend, on my birthday. I was not especially pleased, however things had already been set in motion, and I didn't offer enough pushback to stop it."
"It was decided we would be wed on the ninth of the following month, and I was put in charge of planning for this wedding I couldn't bring myself to want. the following week was the worst week of my life, with acquaintances, friends, strangers and rivals all coming to me to congratulate me, to talk about how this will be an improvement for me, on how it "lucky" I was, for finding a man who would want me at such a "ripe age". it was humiliating, made all the worse by my boss deciding for absolutely no reason in particular, that I should receive a promotion. it felt like of everyone in and out of my life, I was the only person in the world who was not ecstatic with the concept of marriage."
"It was on one of my trips searching for a theme for the wedding that I came across a vaugardian merchant, one who was selling all in her store but one book. When I asked about the book, she told me it was called the bible, that it was a religious book. losing interest, I asked the woman about the religious practices from her religion, and she described them to me. She told of a bond of love and care, where neither side was truly greater than the other. she told tales most likely woven from delusion and promises no sane individual would believe, and I fell for it. I desperately wanted what she offered, a chance at true connection, at being my whole self with at least one person in my life. I left for Vaugarde that very day, having told everyone I must that I was off to learn a custom for marriage from my mothers side."
"When I arrived, the King shortly followed, curtailing my ability to find a book on the practices, and when I spoke to anyone the ones they told me were not what I was searching for, would not be what I needed to experience the union I had described to me. I joined shortly after, having come across Mirabelle in one of the local churches and decided to help her save her country, as I am not one to leave such tasks to the young."
"Along our travels, as l learned more of the practices of this land, the more desperate I felt. I eventually found a book on marriage customs, only for them to still not appeal to me. I decided that the style I was looking for must be a more classic custom, and thus I amended my search to look for those, and yet now that I have the book in my hands, I find that I know I will not find what I am looking for in it, because I do not want marriage. what I wanted, and was convinced this book would provide, is the kind of bond with another where you can be truly honest with them, a form of connection I have never had, a form of connection I was told that you can only acquire through marriage, and yet, it is a bond I feel I hold with this group."
"I must admit, I have not and will not tell you all my secrets, and I don't plan on opening up first, yet there is no one I trust more in Ka Bue or Vaugarde than the people in our group. You and Isabeau are crude and can say cruel words, yes, but you both don't truly mean to hurt others, and when you do I have yet to see you fail to apologize and fix it. Mirabelle can be heavy handed in her religious views, but she never means any insult, and works hard to improve herself and those around her despite her own fears. and Bonnie, while they can be aggressive about the oddest things, are the-"
As Odile talks, you are suddenly hit with the weirdest headache, and the scent of burnt sugar fills the air. the world shudders, and it seems like you missed a few sentences.
"So, while I may not have completed my original reason for coming here, I have found something I consider much more important.
which brings us to the looming question."
She suddenly looks, not embarrassed or scared or conflicted, but so disconcertingly open that you feel mildly scared, and asks:
"Do you believe that I should continue with this marriage, or should i break it off?"
she pauses, giving you a chance to think that you are embarrassingly grateful for. On one hand, marriage is a oath you know most consider to be unbreakable, sworn before god and all that. also, the fact that Odile is single and being (given a chance? forced to?) marry is sending conflicting thoughts throughout your mind. women need to be married to be happy (right?), yet Odile has never struck you as unhappy. a woman should feel unfulfilled without a husband (right?), yet whenever she talks about her job and life, she has seemed so happy she's practically smug. you want to punch her husband (why?) for what he did (what he did?), but what he did isn't odd, at least you don't think it is (why would it be?)? you want to kill her father for what he did (following his job as a dad?), but Odile said not to be? why? [bodycraft is illegal in Ka Bue.] ...what? why would that suddenly pop up?
you are confused, but you focus up to at least answer the question. continue the marriage, or break it off?
you should still get married [ ] (never, no) (if in game, this would be like not telling the pun (if this ever repeated))
you should break it off [<]
No matter what, you will stand by Odile. It's obvious, at least to you, that this marriage isn't what she wants or needs. as you open your mouth to say those exact words, you feel a tug on your stomach.
...what? no. no no no no no NO! you cant! why now why here you cant you need to tell her please oh god no not yet you can still make it you arent dead why is this happening oh god no.
But still, it pulls, no matter how hard you try and pull back. You cant move your body, and the rest of the world seems frozen, stuck in an instant, and no matter what you do you cant open your mouth, you can't tell her you can't tell her you can't tell her. And then. and then.
You feel a tug, somehow pulling in the opposite direction, and the world starts for another second. The first pull seems to pull twice as hard, and it freezes once again.
You feel like the rope between two strongmen, both pulling exclusively on your stomach. It's agony, and the only reason you don't scream is you can't, the world caught in a second blissfully keeping you from hurting Odiles feelings by answering her honest question with puke, blood, and screams. You want it to stop, and can barely think, but you still push as hard as you can, trying to get to Odile, trying to tell her its okay, that you understand, to see her smile at you and for this second to be good, for her to look you in the eyes and say, "Oh thank you Siffrin, would you like to travel together as moral support while I kick in the nuts of everyone who has ever done me wrong?" and you will respond "Of course I will, just please don't leave me alone." and she would go "No, never.", and you get to travel with at least one on them, at least for a while. Just let you open your mouth and say the magic words, any second now!
Suddenly, the thread tugging you away, the thing holding you frozen, the thing keeping you alone, slackens. Just slightly, just barely, but it's enough for the other thread, the mysterious other that seems to come from nowhere but the back of your mind, to pull you to the present.
With a crack of some mysterious shade (red), time resumes.
"...While its your choice, Odile, I feel like you should break it off if it doesn't make you happy. I don't think anyone should get to decide if or when you marry but yourself."
You watch as Odile calms, and a smile spreads over her face.
"I see. I am glad you and I were of the same mind, then. I feel like my journey to this land has been one of the better decisions in my life, as I have learned a great deal about myself and made some truly great... somethings. What about you, Siffrin, have you learnt more about yourself on our journey through Vaugarde?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you didn't grow up here either, did you? Did you have roots here? Or were you just strolling through? I hope you are not involved in your own marriage hijinks, as I know a few people who would be disappointed."
"...Ha! Hm, my apologies. forget I asked."
"...I didn't say anything."
"You didn't need to. Your face said it all. Just because I am seeking your council on a personal matter doesn't mean you need to tell me anything in return. It was wrong of me to ask. We can forget about it."
She zones out, probably thinking about returning the book of something. She would probably be okay leaving it here, opening up to you and getting nothing back, but...
"I don't remember anything about where I'm from."
"oh? were you too small or is there nothing worth remembering?"
(you wish you remembered anything.)
"Neither. I think I was from that island north of Vaugarde."
"...what island?"
"it makes you forget it, and I guess it made me forget myself too."
"...I'm sorry. that sounds terrible, and I wish I could help."
"You do, in your own ways. Its one of the reasons I'm out here, travelling. I don't have roots, at least none I can remember, so I figure out what I can by seeing what I take for granted. I know that the island favored lighter shades, that they liked the stars, that they wrote books. There are dozens of little things I've found out by comparing what I and others take for granted. You are the reason I know the island had darker beaches than the usual. I like learning about where I came from, and what makes me different."
"I see, in that case I am glad to have helped you find the outline of your roots, to see how they have shaped you. but you know you're not only made of where you're from, right? If that was the case, I would be the same as everyone else in Ka Bue, and would be happy to be married to someone who went around me to do so. Where you're from matters, yes, but it isn't the only thing that makes you "you". Do you understand that?"
"... I do! Thanks, Odile"
"Of course. ...It is interesting, I feel so much lighter now."
"...because you decided to not get married?"
she raises her brow, teasingly.
"... yeeeeees, and also because we talked."
(oh!)
"Ha! heh... thank you for listening to me, Siffrin."
you DONT blush, and nod.
She lets out a small chuckle, and then you both sit in companionable silence.
After a while, she throws you a smirk.
"Now move along, I have a book to skim and return before we meet at the clock tower. We'll talk later, go have fun."
She sends you off with a mischievous smirk.
As you leave, you feel much lighter, and are happy the Kid talked you into this.
You fail to notice the small figure doing a victory dance behind a tree, or the subsequent failure to high five a glowing spark the size of a golf ball.
(that bit also was essentially ripped from the familyquest, soz again)

does monarch odile ever think back to before? when she thinks of what could have been, what is it she sees?
Sometimes when she closes her eyes she sees herself sitting on a picnic blanket under the stars. There is a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. There are others around her, a small one is loudly announcing all the dishes they made. She is happy
Sometimes she sees herself watching a group hug from afar. She smiles fondly, sometimes reaching over to ruffle the one in the middle’s darkless hair with her hand, to remind him he’s not alone. She is happy.
Sometimes she sees herself lovingly teasing the rock of their group, because even months later he still gets so giddy to hold his crushes hand. She is happy.
Sometimes she sees herself adamantly talking about horror books with the timid one, while the other three look on in confusion.
She is happy.
Then the dream ends.
In this world, she has no choice but to be the monster.

Weresif?!? Incredible though I am curious as to how fast did the craft take hold? Was it a slow and steady sorta deal and eventually Siffrin left the camp/tent randomly and was found later by bonnie? What triggered Siffrins full shift was it his fear of being abandoned, or a near death experience of himself or his family? I am very curious.
CRACKS KNUCKLES SO FUCKING LOUDLY.
Okay so lot of loredump and rambling incoming you have opened Pandora's box~
So!! The Craft took hold over the course of a few weeks after Siffrin was injured in a fight against a very strange very agressive very large animal, later discovered to be a high-ranking member of the Beastblessed Cult tasked with gathering more members.
Starts out with him just feeling... a tad off. Restless at night, hungrier than usual (which is already super hungry seriously how does a tiny thang like that eat so much) and just all around Weird Abnormal Feeling you Can't Quite Place until one night it just....
...happens.
Mirabelle is actually the one who noticed Siffrin was missing from camp first, being a light sleeper their abrupt exit started her awake, but she wasn't quite fast enough on the draw to see where they headed. So, impromptu midnight search party! Which Bonnie insisted on joining, and...
...well, they TECHNICALLY did find him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just not how they expected him to be.
Bonnie runs back in a panic, Siffrin chasing them, and after a brief standoff Odile (being the braincell of the group) realizes that white hair + black tips + one eye + specific shape of scar = siffrin and stops Mirabelle and Isabeau from royally beating this thing into dust for hurting their friend. And that's the story of the first half-shift~
As for the full shift, that doesn't happen until a while later.
During a discussion on how to best track down the Beastblessed, tensions boil over and result in Odile and Isabeau throwing hands out of misplaced frustration. While Mirabelle takes Bonnie aside so the Old Lady and The Fighter can vent their frustrations by fighting eadhother, Siffrin has a little [very large] panic attack because "wuh oh your family is fighting and it's because of you!!!! its your fault Siffrin!!!!! your family is hurting eachother because of you!!!!!" and ends up fleeing for the inevitable stress-induced half-shift... which progresses into a full-shift because of the intense emotion and now theres a whole other problem aside from Dile and Isa beating eachother up.
It ends up alright but in the moment? shits fucked!
and yeah that's part of the weresiff lore can you tell im deranged

thinking about how most people in the In Stars and Time fandom probably experienced a voiced playthrough of the game through JelloApocalypse, but I wanna highlight the way I did, via DesigningFor!
It's a far smaller channel but I've been following them since before the streams, and by sheer coincidence, the main member Pyrrhickong is also a stage actor(+teacher) that uses he/they and has such a good voiceover feel that I STILL hear most fan content in their voice
(even though they have to voice everyone unlike Jello's stream, but it works for a lot of them!!)
Seeing how people "enter" a fandom is fun no matter which one I'm in and i thought I'd highlight this one. Pyrr's Siffrin narration is also incredible but don't just take my word for it, have his Act 4 bathroom monologue:

Odile is a fiery red chocobo Gabriel had found in the outskirts of Coerthas, battered and weary, but fierce as a flame. He had gathered she must have lost her way and ventured there from the Shroud, vastly underestimating he true length of the journey she had taken and the turmoil she survived. He had never worked with feral beasts before, but could not help but provide her with the care the Holy Stables deemed her beyond.
Far from the prized noble Ishgardian breeds with their luxuriously dense plumage and calm temperament, she was wild, capricious and ready to sink a talon into anyone’s eye if they so much as coughed in her direction.
For several seasons, he treated her exactly as he would a broken individual in his care. He would not step closer, but let her control the distance and close it herself. Neither would he step away until she decided to. He would not reach over to her until she raised a beak to his shoulder. He would sing to her in hushed tones, and eventually even brought out his panpipes. She gave her verdict. He no longer owns panpipes.
Over time, she warmed to his company and eventually came to be a loyal companion, though she’s yet to let him ride her, and he was perfectly content simply to let her walk alongside him on their daily strolls.
Far less familiar with avian health than spoken, he has spent quite a few moons with her at Treespeak Stables for professional care and rehabilitation, and even then she would not let any but the gentlest hands tend to her, in addition to his. It was there that his suspicions were confirmed by chocokeep Vionne that Odile did indeed exhibit behavior not unlike that of war-scarred men and ought not be expected to be a riding chocobo for the remainder of her life, if he valued her well-being as well as his own.
Since then, Gabriel’s work with her was never aimed to tame her in any functional sense, but to attune to her and simply provide the containment for her to grow more sociable and at ease around perceived threats like heavy weaponry, crowds or loud noises. Odile was possibly the one to ignite his desire to provide therapeutic treatment and counseling to all survivors of violence beyond the walls of Ishgard and the Dragonsong War.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One day, Gabriel was watching as little Yuuko played with Odile, now perfectly safe company if supervised. He watched as the bouncy lalafell tugged on her down feathers, attempting to climb up. He leaned forward instinctively and observed, noting that Odile was observing him just as intently. He returned her bid with a gentle nod and watched as she slowly bent her legs and lowered herself for her little friend to climb atop her back, letting out a quiet chirp– almost a playful one. The sight brought more joy and warmth to his heart than the eloquent bard could find words for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, she just as easily strutted off and let Yuuko fall to the ground and scrape her knees.
Ah... her first battle scars.
Alas, his fiery red ladies demand his constant care and attention. And he wouldn’t have it any other way.

OKAY OKAY SO. ive mentioned this in towering paradise ithink so ill do my best to make it concise HJHAJEHJAHJA - Guardians in Equilibrium are unique in a few ways (more resistant to corruption, stronger, some have abilities depending on the island they live on) but an INCREDIBLY important one to note is that all guardians, regardless of location, double as a ‘seed’ of sorts. At any moment, if the Island’s Tree should fail, then it will rely on the healthiest Guardian as a ‘willing’ sacrifice to become the next Tree. Now this has its reasons for existing; corruption in the AU is a constant threat, constantly destroying and invalidating trees across the world. HOWEVER; this has its drawbacks as well. More often than not, this ‘seed’ mechanism will activate on accident due to excessive divine energy. This can be because of Pure Corruption, which I’ve mentioned in TP but not on Tumblr for spoiler reasons, or simply due to an extreme overstress of powers (Although that’s more likely to kill a shape, as opposed to activating the mechanism.) And once it activates, it can be slowed but not stopped :< leading to Guardians often losing their lives, becoming Trees. (This isn’t to be confused with Plants however; who naturally turn into actual plants at the end of their life cycle <3) On the bright side, if you think bout it this means that an island with multiple tree’s is extra safe :3 Anyways; on to Tessie/New Sanctuary specifically :> New Sanctuary is a unique case; for generations its Guardians, a lineage named Musique, have a habit of going insane due to an unknown reason and becoming trees. It’s gotten to the point where those Trees have created their own grove, outside of the capitol. Tessie’s mother, Polaris, unfortunately was one of the previous Guardians who became a Tree :( Tessie, Odile, and Fozel are the latest three Guardians; three cousins tasked with protecting their island, and hopefully solving a generations-long quest: what the actual fuck is killing all the guardians oh, and none of those three know HOW to be a guardian since nobody before them has been able to stick around to teach them. — fun extra thing if anyone’s read this far (/silly) New Sanctuary and its inhabitants is based off the games Super Hexagon and Open Hexagon! Polaris is based on the level Bipolarity Tessie, Odile, and Fozel are based on Courtesy, Otis, and Focus and once i actually GET to playing open hexagon (sighs agressively at its joystick controls being fucked) therell be more worldbuilding to it :3 @hermitcrabcross obligatory hexagon content ping /silly

Does Odile have a "supernatural" hearing? Can xe hear MC's heartbeat (when they are flustered and so) 💓
It's not something that I had considered in particular mmh, what I have thought about is how fae definitely perceive things that humans can't but that doesn't necessarily translate to supersenses 🤔 and being only half fae I imagine Odile's case is more of a *extremely perceptive/notices people's reactions* situation! So in my head, it's less likely xe'd hear mc's heartbeat and more likely that xe'd figure out mc's tells and clock in on signs of them being flustered.
that said, i don't plan on outright ruling it out in text so you're free to headcanon supernatural hearing/senses! 💖
