#oc: wolfe

im not quite happy with how it turned out.,,, would like to work on it a bit longer.,. but its pretty good for what it is tbh.

oh technically one of the half existing charas in the back is bones chara as well lol.

Wolfe revamp

Part of why I'm considering revamping Wolfe completely--including a name change--is because I've always had a hard time figuring out what to do with him in FFXIV.

In his original setting, I loved roleplaying him. There's a rarely a character I've found more satisfying to write, in spite of his apparent simplicity.

[Mandatory disclaimer that no I'm not a TERF and quite frankly was never a JKR fan, even long before people started waking up about her]

Wolfe started out, at the time, as an ex-Auror fired after finding out about corruption in his service and refusing to back down. The story took place in the forties, not during the book story, so we had a lot more liberty to tinker with the setting. Which matters here because, even though he initially decided to rebuild an old abandoned manor and turn it into an inn, once he started mind other people's business again after his cousin reappeared and fucked up, I had a lot more freedom to actually let him scheme to put people where they belonged: behind bars.

But I can't, with his current backstory in FFXIV, do anything close to the same. It'd required a tighter community, and my FC verse and its scenario is focused on something else and doesn't leave much space for this kind of story.

So I'm just left here with a Wolfe that, I feel, is just too close to the original to really work now, and it's been bugging me since I've created him. It's not even the first time I'm making changes—for a start, he used to be a Hyur—but this new idea is more radical.

In both cases, he had an initial background as a botanist and realized at some point that botany was simply not what he wanted to do with his life. But I actually see potential for him if he remained one, especially considering that in FFXIV his field of study used to be, basically, terraforming. Honestly never expected the MSQ to make that relevant lmao

And frankly the academic world is petty and stubborn enough to enable him, in the best and worst ways.

as a child there's nothing cooler than a kid who gets subjected to evil experiments and gains special abilities. it's even cooler if these abilities also cause unfathomable suffering to use/against others. children love stories like this.

Tim: I should have known your not cool enough to have drug dealer connections

Jason: OKAY YOU KNOW WHAT I'M GONNA BUY A FUCK TON OF COCAINE AND DO IT RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU JUST TO RUB IT IN

Dick: Woah woah that's enough both of you. No one in this house is doing drugs. If anyone talks about cocaine again I'll tell Bruce you said you want to start a new crack epidemic. He'll make you sit in at strangers AA meetings and read through old case files of ex dealers and their autopsies. Don't. TEST. me.

Double whammy for the first day with Annie and Wolfe, who were originally one singular character I made in middle school as Soul Eater fan oc. Then, they slowly started to split apart into the character they are today.
