stan and silvia are divorced, but they are besties by the time the twins come to town and maybe there’s some unresolved feelings between them but who’s to say?

the two pics on the right are the first and latest time silvia helped stan with an injury, which was mainly just anatomy and expression practice

i’m falling in love with them more and more and they are burrowing further into my brain but i’m not complaining

this idea has been rotting in my brain ever since my lovely mutual @nellandvoid made this post with my ocs !! i HAD to make some sort of follow-up scenario sooooo here it is !

laurie also got into her fair share of fights with her bullies in high school, so i can imagine her and silvia bonding over punching people and getting into brawls and whatnot (she wouldn't ACTUALLY fight silvia, i just thought this was a funny haha hypothetical situation)

when you try to flirt with the weird guy from the cabin in the woods but he’s so depressed that he doesn’t even look at you while you’re talking to him

panels from a scrapped first meet concept (ended up changing how they actually meet) but i love how they look aka: i spent so much fucking time drawing them that i couldn’t just not show y’all

they do still first “meet” when stan does his first tour and takes ford’s identity, but they don’t actually meet-meet until about a week later

she worked as a janitor at dusk 2 dawn at the time and would deliver groceries to the actual ford when he stopped doing his weekly restock (he helped her clean up a spill once so she decided she owed him her life) so they have their first one-on-one convo when she goes to drop the groceries off and stan invites her in to look around as a thank-you when he recognizes her from the tour, and she agrees cause she was originally very curious about why ford never let her into his cabin before when dropping off groceries and then became even MORE curious when he just. randomly charges everyone to come take a tour of the place

hello all!! sorry for being so inactive recently and for my hiatus going on longer than promised, but!!! i come bearing gifts in the form of sketches that should hopefully tide you over until i start posting regularly again, and act as an apology for being gone so long :)

hello everyone sorry for the lack of art my brain isn't cranking it out as fast as it was previously but here have this silley lore + silvia-mabel bonding mini-comic (fyi people who make comics have all my respect this was SO FUCKING HARD for NO REASON and you all make it so easy god bless y'all) as compensation <3 (also yes silley is the silvia stan ship name don't look at me like that)

anyway i wonder why the reason for her divorce is so fuzzy to her... and why that's the part of her divorce that's so fuzzy... hmmmmmm... also mabel is so excited cause silvia is one of those people who doesn't reveal anything about herself unless she absolutely HAS to, so to mabel, her openly offering this up means that silvia trusts her and they've become level 4 besties

making this was very "unstoppable force (all of my lore drops needing to be comics/long-form info drops) vs immoveable object (i have Never done long-form art before nor have i ever finished a long-form project)" for me so while this may be more common (and hopefully look a lot neater in the future those with experience making long-form art stuff please gimme tips peace and love) they will not be as. often. and i will try to figure out how to do short-form lore dumps too lol

Silvia: Ok, that's the sixth time you've sighed in ten minutes. Come on, out with it.

Mabel: It's just... boys, you know?

Silvia: Oh do I.

Mabel: This was supposed to be my chance for magical summer romance, but so far it's just been a summer of stupid magical creeps. And I know it's only been a few weeks, but what if the rest of the summer is like this?

PANEL TWO

Mabel: I'm just tired of boys being stupid, I guess. I dunno.

Mabel: Were boys this stupid when you moved here?

PANEL THREE

Silvia: Boys have always been this stupid, honey. And to be honest, boys that grow up here tend to be stupider than most. I'm one of the lucky ones...

Silvia: ...since the guy I married moved here after he finished growing up.

PANEL FOUR

Mabel: MARRIED?!

Silvia: Do you want me to braid your hair or not?

Mabel: Who cares about my hair? This is way more important!

Silvia: It's really not that big of a deal--

Mabel: Yes it is! You're married! To someone in town! Who is it, tell me everything.

Silvia: I was married. We're not... together. Like that. Anymore.

Mabel: Oh gosh, that's so sad. I'm sorry.

Silvia: Eh, it's been years since we split. The two of us are still good friends, so no harm no foul.

Mabel: So then what happened? Or wait, sorry, I shouldn't ask--

Silvia: It's fine, honey. To be honest...

Silvia: ...I think it was a buildup of a lot of things. Small lies and secrets that didn't mix well with big tempers.

Mabel: You think?

Silvia: Yeah. To be honest, I never really thought about the 'why' much after it happened. It's all kinda fuzzy, but...

Silvia: I don't really remember what the final straw was for me.

OK ANGST TIME!!!!!! (with some messy messy sketches!!!)

so for silvia, when she was in highschool, she had major anger issues and used to get in a ton of fights (usually with bullies, but the teachers didn’t care she was protecting the weaker students) so she got suspended and sent to detention a lot.

here’s our lil high school firecracker:

well at some point during her junior year she ended up getting into a fight with a teacher and got expelled, and it was the only high school in the small idaho city she lived in, and her parents couldn’t afford to move to a different city to enroll her in another class. so one day, when silvia was gone, they packed up, left her enough money to pay for the next months rent, and moved out of town.

drawing is silvia the night her parents left (based on that one scene from coraline)

now with diane, there were so many post-portal angst moments that i decided instead to do a pre-portal angst moment, specifically when bill revealed his true intentions to ford. bill, from the beginning, was strategic when it came to interacting with diane: he never went too far or pushed too many buttons or gave too much away. just enough to make diane suspicious, but not enough to scare her away completely. instead, he made ford doubt her intentions toward him wayyyyy early on, then when ford found out about the portal he made ford think that diane was helping him and that she was always his backup plan if ford turned on him.

at first he didn’t believe it, but when bill brought up her strangely cooperative behavior when it came the portal, her seemingly endless knowledge on the weirdness in gravity falls, the coincidence of their meeting in college and in town, and the weekly phone calls diane was so secretive about, ford began to believe it more and more.

i love @bugsinshoes ocs so much and after i saw their oc laurie was in idaho during highschool i have been wanting to draw SOME kind of interaction between these goobers but i didn’t know how until my all nighter last night where i blacked out and woke up to this beauty

i imagine that sam and rudy are (so unsubtly that silvia can literally HEAR THEM but is choosing peace and ignoring them) telling laurie about silvia’s habit of getting in fights, but that she doesn’t tend to beat up losers like them

anyways love these guys they were a lot of fun to draw!!!!!!

sometimes a family is a woman with anger issues that was abandoned by her parents and the ghost of the young orphan girl that she took in

introducing the infamous “silvia’s little sister” bonnie wightman! silvia found her on the streets a few years after she left idaho and the two kinda just adopted each other as sister-figures - then in 1979 bonnie passed away, but decided she wasn’t done annoying silvia and stuck around

hey hi hello. uhm. do you have any fun facts/tiny lore tidbits you can share about diane/silvia? i love them so much i need to know EVERYTHING about them :]

oh i am SO glad you asked!!! i’ve been wondering where i could share some important lore for these guys and tbh college has been R O U G H for my drawing rn, so this is perfect!

so first off, silvia!

silvia has three older siblings (two brothers, franklin and phillip, one sister, ainsley) and when she was abandoned her parents told them she ran away without a word

her birthday is february 29th!

when she used to deliver groceries to ford, most of the time she would actually just hand them off to fiddleford instead (since ford was busy doing Science Stuff) so the two of them were actually pretty close before fidds left ford

she sees ghosts, and had been able to since she was like 4 (though it may be more accurate to say she can see the mindscape...)

when she was in med school, she used to train her skills during breaks on the gnomes and more humanoid cryptids in gravity falls and continues to be their unofficial doctor to this day (which is one reason why she never got her memory erased about the weirdness in town!)

now for diane!

diane has a younger sibling named everett, and the two of them are very much "pov: your parents raised two very different children"

her birthday is march 7th!

she’s actually a corduroy! her mom is manly dan’s aunt, and she used to spend holidays in gravity falls when she was growing up, which developed into spending every break from school there and then eventually moving to gravity falls (the pines family having crushes on corduroys is genetic lol)

the reason she always covers her ears is because her and her sibling have stahl’s ear! it skipped a generation in her family, and where everett embraced his ears diane hid them as much as she could

it took about 1 year for diane to become the wayfinder (as in get the helmet) in the nightmare realm, 3 years for her to get her extra arms, and 6 years to establish her rest stop in the nightmare realm called the wayside

ok update from the void (aka oxford) my book of bill is at my home so i won’t be able to get my greedy little hands on it till i get there BUT i have seen some of spoilers from the book and i got some things cookin for the find me at the height of noon verse, including updated plots and character designs (i apologize alex hirsch for not seeing the vision of dad bod ford but i am LIVING FOR IT) and while i haven’t worked on a lot of art i have some ideas rattling around in my brain for story stuff, so hopefully once i’m back i’ll be able to get some stuff done!!!!

i miss you all dearly but this hiatus has been very much needed to replenish my creative juices, and i will be back soon!!!!!!

slowly starting to piece together an actual timeline/series of events that i want to draw for both silvia and diane, and i'm also creating a playlist/pinterest board of songs and pins that remind me of them/their relationships with the twins

sorry that art has been so delayed recently - had to go on a mini-hiatus to get the brain juices flowing cause after classes ended i had to relearn how to be a person again lol but more sketches and mini-comics will be out soon (and i also hope to get some pieces in my personal style out/some ocs that aren't gravity falls related but maybe personal stories if y'all are interested,,,,,,,,,)
