I’d like everyone to meet Laura Sheridan. She is a voidsent hunter from Ul’dah who’s let her hunt completely consume her. She prides herself in always getting her mark eventually, and often cares little for the cost. Yet, her black and white worldview was shattered after her childhood best friend and hunting partner Riley was saved by fusing him with a lesser voidsent, but turned him half voidsent in the process. Unsure of whether to stick to her ideals, she eventually realized that her bond with Riley is more important. Shortly afterwords, she fell madly in love with the half voidsent who’d turned him.

Effrosyni "Effie" Georgiou

Effie is the protagonist of my "Project Siren" WIP (which I'll share more information about if people are interested- and the same goes for the WIPs that all my OCs are from, haha. I've not given Effie's story a name yet, hence why it's referred to as "Project Siren," Haha)

Effie is the daughter of working class Greek Immigrants living in New England during the 1940s. 26, unmarried and disappointing her parents more and more every day, Effie has resigned herself both to singleness and existing on the fringes of life. This changes through a string of encounters with a mysterious woman that Effie becomes increasingly convinced is not a person, but a spirit from beyond.

And she's right. (They also smooch.) (They also don't have the most healthiest of relationships tbh)

Hoi Nev! (yeah i know it's me again) I was wondering did you have other supernatural and/or mythical creatures in mind for Laura? Or did you know from the start she was gonna be a werewolf? I just love hearing poeple's thought process for their oc's

Hey bestie!

Now, I've said this a few times before, but Laura was supposed to be a vampire at first. Her name comes specifically from the protagonist of Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu.

I knew she was supposed to be a maid from the beginning, but initially I imagined a skinny, shorter albino girl that could fold in all types of positions because she's a sneaky watcher/reports anything out of the ordinary to Integra and phase through the walls. Her personality was also supposed to be way less mean and a bit more feminine, if not a bit bratty or sly. I remembered then that werewolves were the ones that could become a spooky ghostly thing and phase through walls, so I decided to make do with that. If anyone remembers Laura's earlier posts, you'll notice she's way less evil and mean than she is right now.

As for if i could see her as any other supernatural creature, I don't know? I think a werewolf does her justice. Maybe something equally beastly and animalistic.

OC Introduction

Since this is an OC blog, I should probably introduce the OCs it's about. So here they are!

From left to right their names are: Henry Stevenson, Victor Shelley, Mary Robert, and Laura Le Fanu.

There's also another character named Edward, but I don't have a drawing of him. He's a rat.

Henry and Victor have known each other since highschool. Laura becomes Victor's girlfriend in college. And Mary is a mishmash of corpses brought to life with chemicals and electricity.

Fun facts about their names: Henry Stevenson's first name is taken from Henry Jekyll, and his last name is taken from Robert Louis Stevenson (the author of Jekyll and Hyde). Victor Shelley's first name is taken from Victor Frankenstein, and his last name is taken from Mary Shelley (the author of Frankenstein). Mary Robert's name is made up of the first names of the authors who wrote Frankenstein and Jekyll and Hyde. Laura Le Fanu's first name is taken from Laura in the book Carmilla, her last name is taken from Sheridan Le Fanu (the author of Carmilla). Edward's name was taken from Edward Hyde.

They're all in their early 20's and go to college together (excluding Mary and Edward). Henry is majoring in Chemistry, Victor in Engineering, and Laura in History.

The time period is the 1980's bc I like that aesthetic. Most of the story takes place in 1984.

Of all of them, Mary is the tallest at 6'3. Victor follows closely behind at 6'0. Henry is next with 5'6, and Laura is the shortest at 5'4. (technically Edward is the shortest but he's a rat)

Their story is inspired by the song Weird Science by Oingo Boingo. There's also clear inspiration from Frankenstein.

I could probably write so much more information about them all, but I feel this is long enough already. And so here are some close-ups!

Henry Stevenson got his name from The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde. Henry's first name is taken from Henry Jekyll, and his last name is the last name of the author (Robert Louis Stevenson).

Victor Shelley got his name from Frankenstein. Victor's first name is taken from Victor Frankenstein, and his last name is the last name of the author (Mary Shelley).

Mary Robert got her name from the first names of the authors of Frankenstein and The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde. (Mary Robert and Robert Louis Stevenson)

hi!! Im sorry people are being shitty abt ur vampire OC, it’s always so upsetting when people write off your own creative work as fanart of something else…

In case u were curious (and if not please ignore!) Carmilla is the titular vampire from the 1872 novella by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu. The story follows a young noblewoman named Laura who is…basically wooed by this vampire who roams the countryside. It’s quite explicitly queer for the time it was written, but whether that was intentional or a side effect of the whole “young pure European girl is turned to the devil” vibe that also purveys, I’ve never been sure. It’s a short book, gothic classic, and was part of the inspiration for DraculaIf you already looked her up and knew this, then apologies, and if not, I hope this wasn’t obnoxious!

💔 (Evangeline) - When she was a young teenager, she befriended a boy. They got close over the course of several months, and she actually thought she loved him. Unfortunately, he was a hunter who was trying to lead her into a trap so she could be interrogated and killed by voidsent hunters. It gave her trust issues that have lasted years

💗 (Laura) - She and Riley were dating at the time wheh they became orphaned as teens by some voidsent. She threw herself into her work, and reasoned that since she didn't feel that way for Riley, she couldn't feel love. In actuality, she was just a closeted raging lesbian who low key developed a taste for voidsent women. The first time she realized she was in love was after spending hours of quality alone time with Eve. (Eve knew Laura fell for her long before Laura knew)

1. How many works do you have on AO3? 46, though technically 45 because one of them is a re-posting of a series as a single multi chapter fic so it doesn’t really count.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 447k although technically only 355k (see above).

3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? Fury Road and crossovers thereof (Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s The Rivals - don’t ask - Blade Runner, Star Trek Next Generation, Firefly, Blues Brothers, American Gods). American Gods. And some miscellaneous one offs (The Drop, Rogue One).

5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not? YES!!! Usually in the manner and style of an excited Labrador. Commenter = FRIEND. But don’t be alarmed, I don’t stalk people. Did I mention that I like comments?

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? I’ve had a good think about this and have to conclude that I don’t do angsty endings. The SADDEST ending would be As but even then, major character deaths were engineered to have the softest blow possible. Do Androids Dream on the Fury Road has an ambiguously sad ending. I’d say the only proper angst was the demise of my first proper OC, a War Boy by the name of Shambo. There was a degree of tragic irony in his death, but that’s plot building (and the Citadel) for you.

7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written? SO MANY CROSSOVERS. Or AUs. Mainly AUs I guess. First was Blues Mothers (still lamentably unfinished), as part of the Sweet Home Chicago series, where I swap Furiosa and Valkyrie into Jake and Elwood’s bluesy shoes. Then there’s Angel Interceptor, a Star Trek First Contact crossover attempt (also unfinished 😬). I had a bit more fun with Do Androids Dream on the Fury Road? and Our Mister Jobassa which made it to 22k and 56k respectively. The latter spawned a sequel. And, most recently, there’s Wife Swap, a Fury Road American Gods crossover. Technically also gods, assassins and timeloops is a kind of American Gods Boss Level AU of a sort.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic? No-one has yet felt the urge to tell me they didn’t like something I wrote. Which I think is a huge compliment to the whole AO3 culture ♥️ (Thumper’s mum would be proud)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Not smut that could be called smut. I dodge the mechanics of the thing by writing about it from a retrospective/reflective/after the fact perspective: buildup, leave them to it, character’s thoughts on the matter afterwards. Probably chickening out but it’s the way I do it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I trust the reader’s imagination to fill in the gaps to their own satisfaction. I GET EMBARRASSED OK

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I’m aware of.

11. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not as far as I know.

12. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I have not.

13. What’s your all-time favourite ship? Max and Furiosa (2015-2019), Mad Sweeney and Laura Moon (2020-)

14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? Blues Mothers. It’s basically a novelisation of Blues Brothers, adapted for Furiosa and Valkyrie and the Vuvalini. I can’t say how much fun it is to read but it’s a little too boring to write, at least when there are other ideas bouncing around. I’ve got a whole sequel plotted out that I can’t write til the movie events are written (sigh). But I’ll know it’s there to pick up when I completely run out of ideas!

15. What are your writing strengths? For better or for worse, I can’t write a thing without really figuring out where a character is mentally/emotionally within context of circumstances. To know whether/how they would do/say the thing. Makes it a bit hard to write anything short, but at least I’m happy enough that things make sense. I enjoy writing dialogue and if I ever get one compliment it’s on that.

16. What are your writing weaknesses? Can’t do proper angst. Everything has to have a happy ending. At least I’m predictable eh? And I don’t have a beta. I probably should, but I’m content to stand by my own mistakes.

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I’ll do it in small doses but always add a Google Translate disclaimer.

18. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Mad Max Fury Road.

19. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written? I love all my babies equally. Even the embarrassing ones.
