Summary: 

Leia is a Senator, not a Jedi. When Luke asks her to accompany him to the abandoned Jedi Temple on Coruscant, she assumes she won't have much to offer him. She doesn't know much about the Force, after all. But it seems the Force has decided that it's time for her to learn. Leia finds herself pulled between the present and the past, when Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, and Master Yoda walked the halls of the Jedi Temple.

Following a hellish marathon mission, Anakin Skywalker has a few really good days. It helps that this strange visitor from the past has given him a reason to spend more time with Obi-Wan.

It’s the time travel fix-it fic I promised myself I wouldn’t write! But this fic possessed me in February and now I have 13 chapters and almost 80k Leia finding out what it means to be a Jedi and Obikin falling in love in a really quiet and domestic way (I mean, Anakin’s pining is off the charts but there’s a lot of co-habitating and bed-sharing, it’s really super sweet)

The Jedi had a strict code of which every member was expected to follow; they were told these rules were there to protect them, to protect others, but most of all to maintain order and balance within the force. These rules held each Jedi to a standard of which most could only ever aspire to achieve. Breaking these rules would result in punishment and exile from the Jedi Temple. The Jedi code was strict and absolute.

Anakin Skywalker disagreed.

He understood why the rules were there, he wasn’t stupid, but what he didn’t understand was how his love could be wrong. He knew of the consequences and the temptation to the dark side which could follow from his infatuation but surely the serenity which came alongside his love was something to be admired.

The criticism of him being to reckless and impulsive had been a constant since his initial days of his Jedi training, but as he laid here, watching the gentle rise and fall of his lover’s chest as they slept away the horrors of the day just gone, Anakin couldn’t help but wonder if the rules he had sworn to live by were going to be his downfall or the thing that could save him from damnation.

But the rules were the rules and Anakin was smart enough to know that, even if these rules broke every fundamental belief that he held, he had to listen and comply. If it was only his life, his future, that he was considering than maybe he would rebel and fight back from the regime of the Jedi, but he wasn’t alone and he couldn’t fight back; Obi-Wan wouldn’t hear of it.

Anakin knew of no better disciple than Obi-Wan.

That man had dedicated his life and his being entirely to the Jedi and their cause. Every waking hour, every thought, movement, and breath had been given over to the Temple. It was his duty to do so, but one misstep, one little broken rule and he would be outcast and exiled. Everything he had worked tirelessly for would be taken forever. The Jedi never delt in absolutes and yet both Anakin and Obi-Wan solemnly knew that if their secret was spilt to anyone besides themselves that their trajectory in life would be permanently altered.

So, Anakin resulted to watch Obi-Wan sleep, aware that in a few short hours that they would have to break apart and pretend that they spent the night together, pretend that they did not relish in the other’s embrace: they would pretend to be the good disciples of the Jedi Order that they should be.

If Obi-Wan had actually stayed on Mandalore with Satine after the Civil War and left the Jedi Order, it would've made The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones peak comedy.

Like, Qui-Gon would still be sent to Naboo and end up on Tatooine, he'd still meet Anakin and take him back to the Temple. But, in this AU, he survives the battle on Theed and takes Anakin as his padawan. And the entire Order would be making jokes:

"Congrats on the new padawan! Hope he sticks around longer than the last one!" "We'll keep this one off the bodyguard missions, eh Qui-Gon?"

So one day little Anakin’s like "hey master, what happened to your last padawan?" And Qui-Gon's like "oh he ran off with a girl, yeah he's royalty in the Outer Rim now".

And it's all fine and dandy until Anakin’s nineteen and they get assigned to protect Padmé, and Qui-Gon takes one look at this kid's face and thinks "You've got to be fucking kidding me, this shit again??"

thinking of the Jedi's self sufficiency , and specifically about how they sew their own clothes. And I have ideas floating in my head of Anakin using Padme's dress patterns to sew something for Sister, or during the war Obi-Wan making clothes for Cody when he's on shore leave.

Ahsoka's dresses making more sense as she gets older because she made them herself. And as ridiculous as it was, a tube top & skirt was the easiest combo a 14 year old could make.

(In a happier world, thinking about the Jedi teaching their clones how to sew after the war, because while the clones can sew it wasn't for aesthetic purposes. Just for survival. The Kaminoans never really taught them how.

And when the clones are eventually do make their own money, and are granted their rights, refusing gifts from the Jedi when they can and actually buying their work. Because it's good fucking work.)

Imagining hours where the Jedi will sit in silence and just sew and embroidery their work. Sew together, alone.

Sew blankets, sew clothes, sew dolls, sew every and anything. Embroidery when they're done.

Teach sewing as stress relief. Teach their troopers sewing as stress relief. Do it themselves.

And years after the Fall of the Jedi, their embroidery and clothing being put in museums, respected. years of handmade and handsewn art and clothing displayed for all to see.
