Not sure why Obi-Wan wins every poll he’s in but here we are… let’s see how well the other fan favorite - Ahsoka - does against him!
Obviously these polls are just for funsies, and your favorite is still your favorite regardless how other people feel about them or whoever they’re pitted against. I just thought it was cool to see how many characters there were… enough for every letter of the alphabet!
#star wars#poll time#favorites#favorite characters#ahsoka tano#obi wan kenobi#a-z#don’t get me wrong#i love obi wan#and in this pairing he’s more of my favorite than ahsoka#but i would’ve preferred maul or grogu or boba or even rex

This is Obi-Wan Kenobi: A phenomenal pilot who doesn’t like to fly. A devastating warrior who’d rather not fight. A negotiator without peer who frankly prefers to sit alone in a quiet cave and meditate.

Ngl this is sorta making me queasy with excitement/nervousness...
Especially coming right on the tail of:
So even though I will likely be a clown (again) this time tomorrow, here's what I wrote out in the twitter thread above:
Please @/starwars Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2, this time with Ewan McGregor and Temuera Morrison as co-stars. There's closure now with Obi-Wan & Vader. Next, closure between the Jedi & the clones on Order 66, represented by the 2 we saw experience it first: Obi-Wan and Commander Cody
I know in the latest Obi-Wan comic, Obi-Wan basically goes "I miss Cody to this day, even though he tried to kill me. Ah well." And it just K*LLS me that that's it. Obi-Wan (and most the Jedi) have no clue that the clones were victims too.
Y'all are inserting Order 66 scenes in almost every show, so you can do it one more time, this time in an attempt to understand and gain closure. And this is a story that is genuinely best told through Obi-Wan and Cody. Palpatine sent the Order to Cody, first and most directly.
This is a story that doesn't need to mess with characters like Luke or Leia, who we know we'll see again. Cody is MIA as of TBB S2. Obi-Wan now also has some time after season 1, where we know he can't really be messing with Vader. This story can fit in well.
(heck, you can even insert more Clone Wars flashbacks, including young Ahsoka, you saw how much we all loved that in the Ahsoka show!) This show would let you share more about other clones and Jedi as well. Depending on how TBB S3 ends, we can have some connections there too.
PLUS! Temuera Morrison seems eager for a role. I'd love to see him again as Boba in TBOBF S2 (and have a whole 'nother pitch there), but Cody is a character that Tem personally originated in ROTS. He also had fantastic chemistry with Ewan as Jango!
So I'd love to see them share a screen again. (plus, age-wise, he's kinda closer to double-speed aged Cody than Boba?)
I could go on forever but…yes, please this.
(also can I help write it?😂😭🙏)
~~End Thread
But yeah, I know better than to get my hopes up, and I have been a clown about this many times before (including but not limited for the actual Obi-Wan S1 lmao).
So here I am with my clown mask ready: 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
(Edit: added this in the tags but:
It does occur to me that another very possible route they could take an Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 is doing something with Quinlan, since they left that very obvious thread open in S1.
BUT I would still prefer Cody & clones centric😭🙏)
#YukiPri rambles#Obi-Wan Kenobi#Commander Cody#tbh i do not actually want canon romantic codywan#i would much rather prefer ambiguous extreme platonic closeness#but plot focussing entirely on reaching mutual understanding and closure over Order 66#as well as how the clones as a whole were treated by the Republic#Tbh other than Cody-centric tho what are they gonna do?#another option is following the Quinlan trail they left in S1 but#tbh I'd kinda prefer a Quinlan-centric show not him as guest#Obi-Wan can guest#we will see tomorrow...

"Any Relationship" allows for any medium.
Please note that it is implied that Obi-Wan is a default character in all requests, and as such does not need to be added in each request. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Maul: Perfect Character Foils, In My Opinion
buckle your seat belts this is gonna be a long ass yapfest.
To clarify, this is not intended to be a ship post, but you can if you wish!
for starters, a foil in media is a character that contrasts with another character. these characters are used to highlight the qualities of one or both character. a foil is, generally, an opposite.
Obi-Wan:
this might be controversial to say, but Obi-Wan is the best Jedi. by no means, am I saying that he is the strongest Jedi (though in my opinion he's up there), nor am I saying he is the ideal Jedi. when it comes to the adherence to the Jedi Code and Jedi morals, Obi-Wan excels in a way that others simply do not. He is not without flaws, but his qualities outweigh them.
-> for the sake of my sanity: Love ≠ Attachment -> The issue "Kanan 7" of the canon comic series Star Wars: Kanan offers a differing version of the Jedi Code which I will be using in this analysis as canon, mainly because I prefer it and view it as the more canon of the two. This Code states: "Emotion, yet Peace. Ignorance, yet Knowledge. Passion, yet Serenity. Chaos, yet Harmony. Death, yet the Force."
Emotion, yet Peace: Obi-Wan is not emotionless, he does not allow his emotions to rule him. It is something he had to work at, as seen in the comparison in how he wins Duel of the Fates, in which he uses his anger and despair to defeat Maul, and when he encounters Maul on Mandalore. When he reencounters Maul on Mandalore and Maul kills Satine, he does not lash out and recklessly attack Maul. He allows himself to feel the pain of losing Satine as he holds her as she dies, then is able to regain his sense of Peace and escape Mandalore. As seen in season 7, Satine's death still hurts, but he does not allow that pain to control his choices.
Ignorance, yet Knowledge: This goes without saying, but Obi-Wan is incredibly smart and wise. Though, he knows there is always more to learn. This is what makes him such a skilled duelist. Obi-Wan was not a naturally profoundly skilled fighter, but always kept training and learning and this is what caused him to be the powerful fighter we see in ROTS.
Passion, yet Serenity: The best example of this I believe is Obi-Wan's mental state on Tatooine during the Kenobi series. In the beginning of the series, the Obi-Wan we see is broken, drowning in his despair. By the end of the series, Obi-Wan has reconnected with the Force. Throughout the show, he was about to heal from (some) of the intense pain, guilt, and sadness that came from Anakin's Fall and was absolved of his guilt through Vader's words in the finale. He was able to see Qui-Gon once again through the serenity he found.
Chaos, yet Harmony: Despite the chaos that was the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan did not falter in his core morals and values. Though he became more skeptical of the the Council, he held fast in the morals that the Jedi should represent.
Death, yet the Force: Obi-Wan allows Vader to strike him down and become a Force Ghost. He does not fear death, he trusts in the Force.
Attachment: The best example is Obi-Wan defeating Anakin on Mustafar. Despite his love for his brother and best friend, Obi-Wan was able to strike down Anakin for the chance that the Republic would be saved. He loved him, but he was not willing to sacrifice the galaxy. This is most comparable to Anakin joining Palpatine to save Padme--his love had become possessive, even saying "I can't live without her"--and caused the fall of the Republic and genocide of the Jedi (not bashing on Anakin, i love him, but Anakin Critical). Similarly, Obi-Wan loved Satine and would have left the Order to be with her, but was able to let her go when she chose her duty as Duchess.
This code, as well as the Jedi's focus on conquering the inner Dark, is the baseline for Obi-Wan's character. He is kind and compassionate for all living things.
There are many, many, instances in Obi-Wan's life where he could have and even probably should have Fallen to the Dark Side. Yet he never does. He is tempted, but does not give in. This is best summed up by this quote:
"I think the real tragedy of Obi-Wan was that he deserved better. He played by the rules, he always strived to be better, to be kinder, to be wiser and he never let his friends down. And he lost everything he ever loved anyway. The greatest Jedi who ever lived, the man who sacrificed all that he had, all for a reward of nothing." -Eddie Curtis
Maul:
In perfect contrast to Obi-Wan, I think Maul is the perfect Clone Wars era Sith. Again, I don't think Maul is the strongest Sith, but in relation to the Sith philosophy, he's perfect.
The Sith Code: "Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me."
Passion, strength: Maul, in true Sith fashion, used his emotion to gain strength. His hatred for Obi-Wan kept him alive in junk pits for ~17ish years and allowed him to frankly beat the shit out of Obi-Wan in the Clone Wars episode Revenge (s4 ep22).
Strength, power: This one is self-explanatory, but is best shown by how Maul uses his strength to defeat Pre Viszla in the duel for the Darksaber. This duel and use of his strength allowed him to rule Mandalore for a brief period of time.
Power, victory: Using his power as ruler of Mandalore, Maul was able to lure Obi-Wan to Mandalore where he killed Satine, thus winning a victory over him. While he ultimately did not defeat Sideous, which was his overarching plan, he did not stop in his quest for victory over Obi-Wan.
Victory, freedom: Maul believed that killing Obi-Wan and enacting his revenge would satisfy him and became his purpose. He was consumed by his desire for victory.
Maul was ruled by his emotions, particularly his anger. Despite this, he was cold and calculating. Maul craved power and victory, and often had rage-fueled outbursts at the mere mention of Obi-Wan. -> While Sidious is the most successful Sith, Maul's raw rage and uncontrollable passion are what makes him a more perfect example of the Sith philosophy. Sidious has a strong control over his emotions while the Sith Code preaches unbridled emotion.
Foils:
Where Obi-Wan is the perfect Jedi, Maul is the perfect Sith.
These characters are inherently intertwined, as their first interaction causes a domino effect that makes them the people they become. If Maul was never cut in half by Obi-Wan, he likely would have been murdered by Sidious or a new apprentice (such as Dooku) when he was no longer useful to Sidious's plans. If Maul never killed Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan would not have trained Anakin and become the person we know him as. If you enjoy Legends, it is even possible Obi-Wan would never have been knighted, as Qui-Gon was willing to repudiate him to train Anakin. Both Obi-Wan and Maul were apprentices of a higher power, the Jedi and Sith respectively, and were tools in Sidious's plan. In the Duel of the Fates, they fight over Anakin's fate, with Maul both winning and losing. Both Obi-Wan and Maul are unaware of their impact on the galaxy, but their actions here change everything, including each other.
Their characters cannot exist without the other.
Where Obi-Wan is ruled by a serene mind, Maul is ruled by his emotions. Where Obi-Wan is kind, Maul is equally cruel. Where Obi-Wan loves, Maul hates. They are complete opposites of each other and only highlight the other's personality traits with each interactions. Everything one of them does, the other will inherently do the opposite.
Maul, in a sense, is a symbol of the Dark itself and Obi-Wan is the Light. Neither ever waver from their respective sides. (Mortis fans please don't attack me).
My favorite example of their mirroring is The Duel of the Twin Suns in the Rebels episode Twin Suns (s3 ep20). It is best explained by Sam Witwer, here.
This duel begins with Obi-Wan and Maul's typical opening stances, with Obi-Wan using Soresu and Maul activates both sides of his lightsaber. After a moment, Obi-Wan switches to the Ataru opening stance once used by Qui-Gon, knowing that Maul would attempt to kill him in the same way he killed Qui-Gon. He was correct. Obi-Wan has played that duel on Naboo over and over in his mind and Maul was so set in his ways that he fell right into the trap. Obi-Wan defeats Maul in about three moves when Maul attempted to hit him with the hilt of his saber like he did with Qui-Gon.
What stands out the most to me about this battle, is that Obi-Wan catches Maul and shows him compassion, going as far to close his eyes and even bury his body. Despite the fact Maul killed Qui-Gon, Satine, and was attempting to murder and humiliate him, Obi-Wan is kind to him in his final moments. In this moment, Obi-Wan is compassionate as Jedi should be and Maul was vengeful as Sith should be. They are, in a sense, the Twin Suns. Their characters are narrative twins, so opposite that they become similar.
TLDR:
Maul and Obi-Wan's actions shaped each other into the characters we know them to be starting with the Duel of the Fates.

Was Obi Wan happy being a Jedi, or did he wish he persuade a relationship with Satine? Sometimes I see in those "nothing went wrong" AU's, Obi Wan leaves the Jedi to be with Satine, is that accurate to how he actually felt? Did he wish he left to be with her? Or was he okay with the way things were?
There's no smoking gun of an answer on this kind of question, because we have so little information on it and character interpretations are often so, so subjective. What we do know is: - Obi-Wan had plenty of chances to leave the Jedi Order if he wanted, he had the chance with Satine, he had the chance every year of his life after that, etc. - Obi-Wan says he would have left to be with her, if she had asked. This literally all we know of the conversation that's held when there's a possibility she might die and she wanted him to be romantic, we don't see that moment of decision itself, only the tense conversation onboard the Coronet. - In The Phantom Menace, he says he'll leave to train Anakin. In Obi-Wan & Anakin, he says if Anakin truly decides to leave, he'll leave with him to continue his training. - In Padawan, Obi-Wan very much wants the life of a Jedi, he has a chance to live a more free life with a bunch of other kids, but he loves the Jedi, he feels the call to the Force and the galaxy and the Jedi, he wants this path. - Obi-Wan encourages Anakin to stay with the Jedi when he's having issues with Rush Clovis and Padme. Ultimately, there's no evidence that Obi-Wan is unsatisfied with being a Jedi and plenty of evidence that he believes in the Jedi path and he lives by the Jedi beliefs and ways, and finds satisfaction in that. Does he regret that he couldn't also live a life with Satine? I tend to think so, yes, but that he always knew he could leave and he's only tempted into doing so when it's for someone else, not because he doesn't want to be a Jedi. In both cases with Anakin, he much prefers to remain a Jedi, just that he's willing to leave, if he must. Or in Obi-Wan Kenobi, he spends years trying to deny that he's still a Jedi, that those ways are done and over, the Jedi are gone. But ultimately we see that his heart doesn't really believe that, he wants to be a Jedi, because as soon as he is one again, as soon as he re-embraces the Jedi ways and his duty as a Jedi, he's so much more settled and happy. For me, even if everything went well during the Clone Wars, if the Sith were defeated, if the Separatists stopped invading, if Satine lived, I don't think Obi-Wan would have left the Jedi Order. Almost no Jedi left after becoming a Knight, it was almost always in the Padawan stages, because a huge part of becoming a Knight was understanding yourself and what you wanted, that you really, truly wanted this life, that you were dedicated to this life. Obi-Wan would have gone through the self-reflection to understand, regardless of whether he left to be with Satine or not, did he want to remain a Jedi, he had to genuinely make a choice. You can't half-ass being a Jedi, it doesn't work. Obi-Wan had to commit. And we see that he chose being a Jedi. He wanted to be a Jedi, just by dint of how the worldbuilding works, in my opinion. Even if everything went perfectly, he was an adult now, not a young Padawan still figuring himself out. He knew who he was, he was Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.

So something crazy happened this week - I hit 1.5k followers! 🥳
Genuinely thank you all so much for following me and supporting my writing. When I first joined Tumblr, I truly never could've dreamed how wonderful the community, friends, and fandom I've found would be. I love you all so much!
I've never done a follower celebration before, but I really wanted to do one for this milestone, so here we are! It's D&D themed, but no knowledge of D&D is required to join in the fun.
Our 1.5k follower campaign is going to be running from today, May 29th, to Wednesday, June 6th. During that time, feel free to send me as many things off the list below as you like! Interacting with people on here is one of my absolute favorite parts of Tumblr, so feel free to come into my ask box as many times as you like 😄
I'll be tagging all posts for this celebration as #Sophie's 1.5k Follower Campaign. You don't have to follow me to participate, but it would be greatly appreciated. Without further ado, here are the actions you can take during this campaign:
Zone of Truth - Send me an ask with a game, like KMK/FMK, Would You Rather, or anything else you can think of!
Roll Initiative - Roll some dice and send me a character from the list at the bottom of this post, along with the numbers you rolled! I have prompt lists left over from my Year of Fic planning, and I'll put your character and your dice rolls togeter to write a corresponding headcanon (or possibly longer fic, if the inspiration really strikes!). Solitary Confinement
[read on ao3][Febuwhump prompt: Solitary Confinement]
After being captured alongside General Kenobi by the Seppies, Cody holds out hope that rescue will arrive in time.
Characters: CC-2224|Cody, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano Word count: 1575
The cell is damp and near-freezing. With Cody's vision robbed by whatever contraption they'd bolted over his eyes, his other senses have sharpened. He has to be careful not to breathe with his mouth open. The smell of rot and open sewage had him gagging when they first dragged him into the stronghold. He's gotten used to it. Mostly. It's only gotten stronger in the last few days.
Soft tapping from the other side of the room is the only point of contact he has with General Kenobi.
"Take heart, Cody. The beacon was launched before we were captured. I don't expect we'll be here long." General Kenobi gives him one last encouraging smile from the floor, his wrists chained above his head, before the clankers bring out the drill and start attaching the metal blinder to his temples. "This should be entertaining at least, my dear."
Their chains give them just enough leeway to stand, though if they do it more than a few times an hour they're shocked into unconsciousness. It happens if they speak, too, which seems idiotic as the Seppies would have a better chance of overhearing something than extracting it. He marks the days by torture sessions; by his best estimate, there's a full rotation between visits. The chains hum and go warm with promised electricity. The door opens and one of them is dragged out of their cell for uncountable minutes to be interrogated.
Cody much prefers being strapped down to the table over his General. At least he knows what's going on when a droid asks him for GAR secrets in a monotone buzz, right before the needles go into his neck and what feels like acid fills his veins. Its agony, but they'd started training him to withstand torture at five. At least when they're torturing him he can breathe.
The waiting is the worst. Those dreadful seconds when metal footsteps approach them and he doesn't know who they'll choose are worse than anything they can inject him with. General Kenobi has no such training, just his strength of will, and while it's indomitable, Cody knows it will give out eventually.
Maybe that's why they haven't taken him for three days. Kenobi taps on his chains every few minutes so Cody knows he's still alive, but he can't hear the reassuring sound of his Jedi breathing over his heart's own drumbeat pounding in his ears. There's nothing else to hear in the gluttonous, bloated silence.
He's dehydrated. Water wasn't provided—deemed unnecessary when every day the droids held his head under a steady stream of it until he passed out—but they haven't been fed since they arrived. Not food, anyway, just leathery balls of surprisingly sweet jelly during their torture sessions. They get angry when he chews them, so he keeps doing it, figuring it's the right call. His stomach cramps violently, squeezing acid up into his throat and eroding delicate tissue. His body is starting to cannibalize itself. Every torture session leaves him weaker, but it doesn't matter. He will survive, force his heart to keep pumping blood even when every other bit of him wastes away, because that's what he was made for. He's a Marshall Commander to a High General, not some wet-behind-his-ears shiny who's never known a night without Kamino's thunder. He knows how to withstand any torture, no matter how brutal.
Kenobi taps again. Cody taps back. It's all they can manage. It's enough to keep going.
Take heart, Cody.
He will. He'll let them rip him up from the inside out if that's what it takes, but he will not lose hope. Not if his General still needs him.
He feels the hum of electricity in his teeth right before his chains warm and come alive again. He steels himself. Any moment the door will open. They'll drag him off again to ask the same questions that he won't answer, flay him like a nerf left to rot in the sun, then throw him back in his cell once they deem it to be another wasted day.
The door doesn't open. Instead, the chains go cold. Cody frowns; that's never happened before. The floor vibrates, and he's thrown violently to the side with the force of an explosion somewhere below them. The rushing roar of blood in his ears intensifies. "General Kenobi?" he whispers, taking a chance that their captors are occupied with whatever the hell that was. He can't speak properly anyway. Between the screaming and the stomach acid, his voice is virtually gone. "Can you hear me, General?"
Kenobi taps again, unwilling to risk it. Cody accidentally sucks a deep breath in, gagging from the stench of rot. It's all he can do to not vomit, even though he doesn't have anything to bring up except acid. He ignores the burning in his throat. DC-17 carbine fire echos through the vents, a song as reassuring as a mother's lullaby to a clone trooper. "They're here, General," he says, adrenaline jumpstarting his weak heart. "We did it." We survived.
Kenobi taps again.
Waiting for his brothers to find them is more painful than anything their captors have put him through. He can hear boots thumping, blaster fire getting closer, the hum of a swinging lightsaber. He twitches in his chains, weak muscles begging to join the fight. Who came, the 212th? Undoubtedly they'd come in some capacity, but he would hazard a guess that there's a fair amount of blue mixed in the golden orange. Skywalker never was one to sit on his hands and wait patiently where General Kenobi was concerned.
"Just hang on, General. They're almost here." Cody licks lips that taste like sour old iron. First thing he's going to do after seeing to his General and getting debriefed is grab the bottle of tihaar he confiscated from Wooley. There aren't many perks of being in command, but if he had to make a list then sampling the contraband for “safety reasons” would definitely be near the top.
The blaster fire gets closer, along with the subsonic buzz of a lit saber. Cody fidgets in his cross-legged sit, his legs on fire and cramped from being bent for days, barely able to contain himself. The door beeps and slides open. Cold air that smells like corpses is sucked into the room, shocking him. He hears a single, sharp inhale, high-pitched and young. "Cody?" a trembling voice asks after a few pregnant seconds.
"Commander Tano," Cody rasps. The words scrape his throat like rusty sheet metal.
The sound of her footsteps scuff across the floor. "Oh, Force, what is this?" She touches the metal band that the droids had bolted into his skull. He jerks in his chains as a lightning bolt of sharp pain zaps through his temples, accidentally smacking his head against the wall as he does. "It's okay. Don't move, everything is going to be fine." Her commlink beeps. "Rex, cell 117. I found them. I need a medic here, now." Her voice shakes. “E-Everything is going to be okay.”
"General?" Cody tries to clear his throat, tastes blood instead. "It's alright, General, we can talk now. The chains are turned off."
Kenobi taps.
"Don't… don't let Anakin up here." Cody's blood freezes. A soft, trembling hand runs across his brow, mindful of the bolts this time. "We tracked the beacon." Her voice cracks. "We came… we came as fast as we could."
Cody leans into her soft touch, for her comfort as much as his. She's always been so sensitive. "I'm alright, Commander. Go check on General Kenobi."
He hears a humming fwoom. She cuts his chains with her lightsaber, rubbing his bloodless hands briskly like he'd been out in the cold once they're free. "It's going to be okay, Cody," she says again. She's crying.
"General, please say something," Cody says hoarsely. The stench of rotten flesh is so overpowering that he can taste it. "Obi-Wan?" Why hasn't he said anything? Why hasn't he greeted Ahsoka? When did the tapping stop?
The tapping resumes; relief floods his system. "Get off of him!" Her lightsaber ignites, swings, and a wet chitinous thump follows a moment later. "I'm sorry." Ahsoka whispers it over and over again until the words slur together.
Cody reaches up to the metal blinder and starts turning the bolts that keep it attached to his skull with numb fingers. The screws take forever to twist out of his swollen, infected skin, but he doesn't stop even when Ahsoka grabs his wrists and begs him to. He shoves the sobbing girl away and rips the blinder off with an agonizing scream.
It takes a few seconds for his vision to adjust. Even in the near pitch-black his eyes hurt. General Kenobi sits cross-legged exactly where Cody had seen him last. He's still chained to the wall, mottled hands cuffed above his hanging head. A pile of something shiny and wet glistens in his lap.
Cody creeps closer on his hands and knees, unable to trust his weak eyes. His hands slip in the slick blackness that covers that side of the room. The smell of rot and sewage is almost unbearable. Cody reaches out a quivering hand, confirms with a touch what his eyes refuse to see.
The bisected insect that's been eating its way through the General's guts taps weakly on the floor one last time before finally dying with a hiss.

Padawan Anakin Skywalker and his master Obi-Wan Kenobi have been sent on a mission. They travel to a planet called Luth. They are to save a peace negotiation with a planet Unton. The Jedi Council fears the planet may go into a war if they are not aided.
Luth is a prosperous planet, ruled by a wise king and a kind queen. The monarchy is holding up well. The rulers hope it will continue so and they try to raise their children to respect and care for their subjects, hoping they will do the same. If it happens that a ruler in the future is not good for his people, they have a right to put him on trial and execute him. So, really, it's in everyone's best interest for kings and queens to care for every little man.
The royal family are humans, but all species are welcome to live on the planet. It's a very green and blue planet. Its people focus mostly on natural resources, but they also have an advanced technology.
The people of Unton have always been jealous of their neighbors. For many years they've been trying to gain some of Luth's resources, as their own planet is very poorly governed by the council consisting of thirteen men and women. The only species that is allowed to live there is the native one.
Untons have large bodies consisting mostly of fat. They have beady eyes, snouts of pigs, long ears, hooves and massive hands with three fingers. They sweat profusely and are mean by nature. And greedy.
Luthians have enough of their aggression and the rulers have decided to end it by making a deal with Untons. However, their conditions are unacceptable. Hence the need for the Jedi.
'Have you ever met someone from either of the planets?' Anakin asks his master, as they land on Luth.
'Qui-Gon Jinn and I met once a Luthian on another planet,' Obi-Wan answers. 'It was a good fellow. He mentioned that he likes his life on the planet. And that the King and Queen are wise rulers.'
'And Untons?' Skywalker asks. Kenobi shakes his head.
'They rarely leave their planet,' he explains. 'They hate other species and prefer not to interact with them. Unless, it's about getting rich.'
'Then let's help them getting home soon,' padawan says and together with his master gets off the ship. They're meet with their escort and follow them to the palace. They pass people, looking around.
'Do you notice something strange?' Obi-Wan asks quietly at some point.
'The citizens are very nervous,' Anakin answers. 'Could it be because of Untons?'
'Possibly,' Kenobi considers. 'Let's hope we will find out more at the palace.'
Soon enough they enter the throne room. They expected to find the King and the Queen on their thrones. But they're surprised to find them in the middle of the room, talking to a teenage girl, looking a lot like the Queen. When the Jedi enter, the three people hurry to them, all having worried expressions.
'Masters Kenobi, thank you for coming here so quickly,' says King Andrrei. 'We're afraid the situation is even worse than it was when we asked for your help.'
'Don't worry, we're here to help,' Obi-Wan assures them, then points at his friend. 'This is my padawan, Anakin Skywalker.'
'It's very nice to meet you,' Queen Lyra says, taking Anakin's hands in hers in a warm handshake. He's a bit surprised by it, but returns it, and then the Queen lets him go.
'How is the situation looking?' Kenobi asks. 'Do the Untons demand more?'
'Oh, more and more,' the Princess, as it must be her, answers, wincing. 'Honestly, they will always want more. I don't know why we bothered with the negotiation in the first place.'
'Hush, Astrariel,' her mother chides her. 'It's always worth to search for peace.'
The name tells the Jedi, who've studied on the royal family during their journey, that this is the younger princess. But that provokes the question: where is the older one, the heir to the throne? Shouldn't she be here as well?
'Very well said, Your Majesty,' Obi-Wan says. The Queen smiles, but it's a strained smile.
'Still, for now we had to haul the negotiations,' Andrrei says. The Jedi look at him, surprised.
'What was the reason for this decision?' Anakin asks. Astrariel looks away, rapidly blinking. Lyra's lips tremble and she quickly covers them, choking back a sob. The King's face falls and suddenly he looks older.
'Because our eldest daughter has been kidnapped,' he reveals. The Jedi look at them, astonished.
'By Untons?' Kenobi guesses after a moment of stunned silence.
'They're our primary suspects,' the Queen answers and sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose. 'But so it happens, that a certain group has docked recently in the capital's port. They… they're slavers.'
Skywalker stiffens. He remembers his childhood, during which he and his mother were slaves. Immediately, he feels anger. A glance from his master calms him down a bit.
'Unfortunately, we have no proof for that,' Andrrei continues. 'Publicly, they are merchants. But it is known they get most money from slavery. We've been trying to arrest them for that for years.'
'In fact, recently my sister took over the investigation,' Astrariel adds. 'And she said she's really close to getting some proof.'
'So, it's possible they risked taking her, a princess, to save their own skins,' Obi-Wan says, pondering. 'Or Untons are trying to blackmail you to get the upper hand.'
'They didn't let you know they have her?' Anakin questions. The royal family shakes their heads.
'They seem to be acting even stranger, though,' the Princess says. 'And oddly easily agreed on our request to put the negotiations on hold.'
'That is suspicious,' Kenobi agrees. 'But doesn't determine their guilt. Because it is also suspicious that the princess was kidnapped while there are slavers in the city.'
'You can see our dilemma, then,' the King says, spreading his arms in resignation.
'Could it be possible for the slavers and Untons to work together?' Skywalker asks.
'I… can hardly imagine Untons working with anyone who isn't of their species,' Astrariel argues, scrunching her nose.
'No, no, this is a good idea,' Obi-Wan denies, nodding, and looks at his padawan with approval and pride. Anakin barely manages to contain a happy smile, glad to be praised by his mentor.
'But what would both sides gain if they really cooperated?' the Queen asks.
'That is for us to find out,' Kenobi answers. 'I suppose you want us to find the princess?'
'Please,' the King pleads. 'We've searched everywhere. We don't know what to do. You're our only hope.'
'How sure are you she's still on the planet?' Skywalker asks.
'We have a, um, this… I guess you'd call this connection to the Force?' the princess starts, intriguing two Jedi. 'We sort of feel each other's presence in the back of our minds. But it only works when we're on the same planet.'
'And since you still can feel her…' Obi-Wan says slowly.
'It means she's still alive and on Luth,' Lyra finishes, nodding. 'Yes. Sadly, it doesn't allow us to tell where she is.'
'Don't worry, Your Majesty,' Kenobi says after a beat and bows. 'We'll do everything in our power to find your eldest daughter.'
Anakin quickly bows as well. Andrrei walks to Obi-Wan and takes his hand in his, then squeezes it.
'Please, Master Jedi,' he says, his eyes full of pain. 'Bring her home.'
*
The Jedi are given a small hut in the city. The royal family wanted to give them large chambers, but they agreed that this way they can act from hiding, not alerting unwanted people to their presence. In here they plan and strategize.
'How are we supposed to find her?' Skywalker sighs, frustrated. Kenobi, who's been pacing, stops and looks at his padawan.
'I know it won't be easy,' he says. 'But the fate of this negotiation, our mission, depends on whether we do. And possibly the life of the princess.'
'So, what's our move?' Anakin asks. Obi-Wan thinks for a moment.
'We should investigate the princess' chambers for any clues,' he says after a minute. 'But the longer we don't search for her, the longer she's out there, maybe being taken further away.'
'Easy,' Skywalker says. 'You search her chambers, I start looking for her. Later you join me and we look for her together.'
Kenobi gives his padawan a look. He knows his pupil is a bit hotheaded and prefers taking action. But he's not wrong here. It would speed up their investigation. However, he also knows how sensitive his friend is when it comes to slavery.
'All right,' Obi-Wan agrees. 'But when I'm done with the princess' chambers, I'll also try to investigate the Untons, since they're also staying at the palace. That way it leaves you the slavers and maybe searching in the city. And Anakin, remember our mission. We're here to find the princess, rescue her and make sure the negotiations run smoothly. That's all. Don't let your feelings get in the way.'
'I know, master,' Skywalker grumbles, pouting. He's annoyed about the remark. He knows how to behave and his duties.
'We'll meet here by dawn,' Kenobi decides. 'Unless, one of us finds something. Then, we're in touch.'
Anakin nods. Obi-Wan puts a hand on his shoulder and he responds with the same action. They nod at each other and go separate ways.
It's not hard for Skywalker to locate the slavers. Everyone in the city knows where they're staying and where their ship's docked. However, young Jedi quickly realizes it's impossible for him to get to either of these places. The security is too tight, even for a Jedi. He needs his master for that.
For now, he decides to back away and search the city. He's maybe a few streets away, when he hears hurried footsteps coming his way. He turns around, a hand on his lightsaber. But still, the person that runs at him, takes him by surprise, suddenly turning the corner and barreling straight into him.
'Whoa! Easy there!' he says and tries to stabilize both him and the person, by grabbing them by their arms. But they start to struggle, clearly panicked.
'Hey, hey, hey!' Anakin tries to calm the person down. 'I'm not going to hurt you.'
The person stops struggling. Slowly, they look up at him. He's met with [E/C] eyes. He also manages to finally take a look at them.
He's holding a girl, not much younger than him. She has [H/C] [H/L] hair that are a complete mess on her head. Her face is dirty and has some scratches on it. She has some clothes that look more like a sack. They are dirty as well and tattered. But what mostly catches his attention, is a collar on her neck.
His heart stops for a moment. First, he feels sadness, but then he's filled with anger. Because he realizes he's encountered a slave that's managed to escape. A slave that is you.
'Come on,' he says, gently taking your hand in his. 'I'll take you out of here.'
You stiffen under his touch and look at him with distrust. He hesitates only for a moment. Then, he shows you his lightsaber, hoping you'll understand he has no intention of harming you. He sees recognition flashing in your eyes. He's relieved to feel you relaxing, but not completely.
'This way,' he says and carefully starts leading you away. On your way, he sneaks a few glances at you. He knows it would be too good for the missing princess to just bump into him, but he still can't help but hope. But you look nothing like the royal family.
Your hands look like they've seen hard work. You clearly lost some weight recently, but it's obvious you're not as skinny as he imagines princesses to be. So, there's a small chance you're the one he's looking for.
'In here,' he says softly, when you reach the hut that he and Obi-Wan occupy. You both get inside and he bolts the door. He looks out of the window. After a few minutes he sees someone creeping in the shadows, clearly looking for something… or someone. Your absence has been noticed.
'All right,' Anakin says and moves away from the window, closing in the drapes. He turns and looks at you.
You're standing in the middle of the room, terrified, trying to make yourself as small as possible. The Jedi keeps his distance, not wanting to frighten you. He looks at you softly.
'My name is Anakin Skywalker, I'm a padawan of a Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi,' he introduces himself. 'What's your name?'
You open your mouth but no sound comes out. You huff in frustration, although it's not hearable either, and touch your collar. Anakin frowns and slowly walks to you. He examines the collar.
'Is it blocking out your voice somehow?' he asks. You nod, your expression miserable. Skywalker grits his teeth, enraged.
'Let me-' he says and touches your collar. Immediately, you're zapped by electricity. You shut your eyes and your body spasms in pain. When it's over, your legs give under you, but the Jedi is quick to grab you.
'I'm so sorry!' he says, horrified. 'I… I didn't mean. I… didn't know.'
You look up at him and force a smile, trying to let him know you don't blame him. You didn't know about that part either.
Just then someone tries to open the door. You both jump, startled. Someone knocks. Anakin lets you go and checks who's outside with the Force. Relieved to sense his master, he unbolts the door and opens it, finding himself face to face with frowning Obi-Wan.
'Why did you bolt the door?' he asks, confused, but then his eyes land on you. 'Oh. Hello there.'
You look at him with wide eyes and try to back away. Skywalker quickly shakes his head.
'It's okay!' he assures you. 'That's my master. Obi-Wan.'
You relax slightly. Kenobi eyes you, then turns to his padawan.
'Is that…?' he starts slowly. Skywalker shakes his head. They talk quietly. You don't hear the conversation. You can only notice the older Jedi is not pleased with what his padawan did. But your savior somehow manages to calm him down.
'Very well, but it's on your head,' Obi-Wan finally says and walks to a desk. He takes something from it and slowly, so not to frighten you, he walks to you. He hands you a piece of paper and a pen.
'Can you write your name?' he asks, his tone soft and calming. You don't even attempt to grab them. You just look at him miserably and show your hands. There are cuffs on your wrists, similar to the collar on your neck. Somehow, Anakin has missed them earlier. It's clear they somehow make your hands unable to write.
'I see,' Kenobi sighs. 'That is certainly problematic.'
You look down. Obi-Wan puts a hand on your shoulder. You stiffen but don't jump away. You lift your head and see a gentle smile on his face.
'It's not your fault,' he assures you and glances at your collar. 'I assume there's some key to it?'
You nod your head. Kenobi scratches his beard and returns to his padawan.
'I know you meant well, Anakin, but the situation is not good,' he says quietly. 'The streets are crawling with people looking for her, I know that now. It's going to be really hard to get into the slavers' accommodations.'
'I couldn't just leave her there,' Skywalker protests angrily, but also quietly. 'They would catch her again.'
'I know and I applaud your compassion,' his master calms him down. 'I'm just saying our mission is even more difficult now. We must wait a day or two before trying to investigate the slavers.'
'And the Untons?' Anakin asks. Obi-Wan shakes his head.
'After I searched her chambers, I followed them all day,' he answers. 'No one let anything slip and I didn't find any place they could keep her. Where did you find the poor girl?'
'A few streets away from the place they're staying at,' Skywalker answers.
'That's probably the place they're keeping the captured ones,' Kenobi says and sighs. 'So, we wait a day or two, then we try to get in there and find her.'
'And the key to collars and cuffs,' Anakin adds. Obi-Wan nods, agreeing. They will need it for you, and there's a chance the princess is in the same situation. They look at you, observing them with interest.
'I hope you don't mind staying with us for a bit here?' Kenobi asks with a kind smile. You respond with a similar one and shake your head. You may not be completely free yet, but it's definitely better than the place you were a few hours ago.
*
The next day, Obi-Wan manages to sneak out for a reconnaissance. He orders Anakin to stay behind with you, since he's the one who brought you. The young Jedi is clearly not happy with it. He's sitting by the window pouting even an hour after his master has left to get some intel. After a moment of hesitation, you sit down opposite to him and gently touch his hand. His eyes snap to yours and he sees concern in them.
'I'm okay,' he tries to assure you, forcing a smile, which earns him a dubious look. 'Honestly.'
You continue to stare at him. Finally, he cracks and sighs.
'Okay, not really,' he says and huffs, frustrated. 'It's just… I know Obi-Wan is right, but I can't help but feel he's punishing me for doing something we didn't discuss and that was right but also got us into more trouble. Again.'
Immediately, you hang your head, feeling guilty. Anakin quickly takes your hands in his.
'No, no, it's not your fault!' he hurries to say. You look at your joined hands, surprised, and then at his face. Seeing what he did, he tries to take his hands away, apology already on his mouth, but you squeeze his hands, stopping him. It's his turn to look surprised. But you smile slightly at him and he can't help but respond in kind.
'I don't regret helping you,' Skywalker says and looks at your collar, or rather glares at it. 'And I promise to help you get rid of that.'
You frown and stare at him for a moment. You open your mouth but then you remember you can't speak. You huff, frustrated. You decide to try ask your question anyway. Slowly, you try to mouth 'Why?'. It's the Jedi's turn to frown.
'"Why?",' he repeats and you nod. 'What? Why… I want to help you?'
You nod again. Anakin looks away. But you still manage to see pain flashing in his eyes.
'When I was a kid… I was a slave,' he explains quietly and your eyes go wide. 'Together with my mom, on a planet called Tatooine. I got out thanks to Obi-Wan and his master, Qui-Gon Jinn. But they couldn't help my mother. I couldn't help her… So, if I can at least help you… I'm going to do it.'
He looks at you with determination. Your eyes soften. You reach out and cup his cheek. He flinches, surprised, but doesn't move away. You try to make him see with your gaze how grateful you are. For his actions and his words. He seems to understand it, as he smiles. You take your hand away. He clears his throat and looks away.
'I'm sorry in advance,' he says and grins sheepishly. 'I tend to attract trouble. It's very likely we'll get into some before you're free.'
You raise your eyebrows, amused. There's a certain twinkle in your eyes. Then, they fall on his lightsaber, and they sparkle with curiosity.
'Beautiful, right?' he asks with pride and takes it in his hand. 'I was so happy when I was finally able to make it. It was unforgettable. Ever since I tried to prove I'm worthy of wielding it.'
You look at him. Your eyes burn with so many questions. Which you can't ask… But Anakin seems to get the idea.
'Would… would you like to hear of my adventures with Obi-Wan?' he asks hesitantly. 'Since we're stuck here until he gets back? Hopefully with some food?'
You nod with enthusiasm. You sit more comfortably and focus on him. He chuckles, a bit bashed by the attention, but he starts telling you about his life as a Jedi. And your reactions, voiceless laughs, grins, shining eyes etc. just encourage him.
By the time Kenobi returns, it's dusk and you're both extremely hungry. He hands you the food and you eat it in minutes.
'I'm sorry it took so long,' he sighs. 'I couldn't risk it. The city is full of slavers looking for you.'
'Did you manage to find out something at least?' Skywalker asks with his mouth full. His master nods, his expression grim.
'We must make our move tonight,' he says and glances at you. You get the hint and excuse yourself, going into the bathroom. Obi-Wan leans to his padawan.
'The Untons have forced the King and Queen to resume the negotiations,' he says quietly. 'They're going to continue tomorrow morning. They were very forceful.'
'Do you think they want to use the princess as the leverage?' Anakin asks. Kenobi nods.
'The Queen invited their Chancellor for a dinner tonight, but he declined, saying he has some matters to attend to in the southern part of town,' he answers and gives his friend a look. 'And who do we know is in the southern part of town?'
'The slavers,' Skywalker answers and grins. 'So, I was right, and they are working together.'
'Yes, it's quite possible,' Obi-Wan agrees. 'I wish we could have more time to carefully plan this, but… it looks like we have to improvise and break the princess out.'
'Oh, we can do it, master,' Anakin assures him. The older Jedi sighs, hoping his padawan is not wrong.
When you return from the bathroom, they're ready to head out. Kenobi looks at you apologetically.
'I'm very sorry, but we have to leave you alone for some time,' he explains. 'We'll try to come back sooner rather than later. Do not open this door to anyone but us. Okay?'
You nod and smile, wanting them to understand it's all right, you get it. They respond in kind, then leave. You bolt the door after them and only then you allow your expression to fall.
The two Jedi are quick to get to the place the slavers are staying at. They find a spot to hide and observe.
'Well, it's even more guarded than yesterday,' Anakin notices grimly.
'I wonder why is that,' Obi-Wan murmurs. His padawan glares at him.
'I couldn't allow them to take her again,' he says angrily. Kenobi sighs and pats his arm.
'I know, I know, you did the right thing,' he assures him. 'But I don't like how slim our chances are.'
'Have more faith, master,' Skywalker says, grinning suddenly. To Obi-Wan's surprise, a familiar droid joins them.
'You called for R2-D2?' he asks. Anakin pats affectionally his astromech, who was asked to stay on the ship and keep an eye on it.
'Who's got the biggest chances to get us inside?' he asks. His master chuckles.
'You're right,' he says. 'Let's do it.'
Some time later, the Jedi are crawling through the ventilation system, curtesy of R2. None of them is happy about it.
'Was there really no other way in?' Skywalker whispers angrily.
'The only other way in is the front door,' Kenobi answers. 'So, don't complain.'
Anakin grumbles something and continues crawling, his master following him. Suddenly, they hear voices. They slow down. The system becomes large enough for them to crawl side by side. They stop when they encounter a grid.
They look down and see people in black clothes and helmets on their heads. With them are also Untons. Young padawan can't help a grin. He was right. They're working together.
'- sure of it,' they hear one Unton say. 'They try to hide it, but they're distraught because of their missing daughter. Once we reveal she's on our mercy, they will give us anything we want. Or their precious princess will become a slave.'
Untons laugh, which sounds more like pigs snorting. Anakin shakes with anger. Obi-Wan puts a hand on his shoulder, urging him to calm down.
'Oh, many will pay a lot to get their hands on such a specimen,' one of the slavers assures. 'Still, it would be more beneficent for us all if they agree to your terms.'
'Oh, definitely,' the Unton agrees. 'We will get our resources and you will be able to… gather slaves from this planet. We remember our deal and intent to honor it.'
'Good,' the slaver says, nodding.
'We would like to make sure our bargaining chip is not damaged… much,' another Unton says. 'If you could show us the way.'
The slaver opens his mouth to answer. But just then Anakin, who's been holding the grid tightly because of his anger, manages to push it forward. Unfortunately, it causes him to lose balance. He falls forward with wide eyes. Obi-Wan grabs him, wanting to stop the fall, but it just causes him to be dragged down as well.
They land with a loud crash. They look up slowly and see astonished looks.
'Well, now you've done it,' Kenobi sighs. Skywalker smiles sheepishly.
'Sorry, master,' he apologizes.
'Intruders!' the slaver shouts, reaching for his blaster. The Jedi quickly get on their feet, and using the confusion their appearance has caused, bolt for the door. A second later the alarms blare and they hear footsteps rushing at their direction.
'What's the plan?!' Anakin asks, as they take out their lightsabers.
'We must head to the exit!' Obi-Wan answers. 'There's too many of them!'
They run past the corridors, using their lightsabers to deflect the shots coming their way. Some has already managed to reach them. But Jedi are faster and they manage to put some distance to their pursuers.
But Skywalker notices something at some point and stops. His eyes twinkle. He takes a turn, ignoring his master's orders.
Kenobi reaches the door and orders R2 to open it. He turns around and takes a stance, ready to fight. He freezes, finally realizing his padawan is not with him.
'Honestly…' he sighs, exasperated, and calls his friend on the com. 'Anakin, where are you?'
'Coming, master!' he hears the answer, but not from the com, but from the corridor. And a second later Skywalker is there, deflecting blasts. Obi-Wan quickly hurries to help him. Just when they become overwhelmed, R2 opens the door.
'Quickly!' Kenobi shouts and they make their escape. But even on the streets they are still chased. Obi-Wan risks a look behind them.
'We must get to the palace!' he shouts.
'First of all, we don't have their princess with us!' Anakin argues. 'Second of all, we can't leave… her… behind.'
Kenobi curses, knowing he's right. They take a turn to their hiding spot. They reach the hut and quickly bang on the door.
'It's us, please, hurry!' Skywalker shouts. A moment later the door opens and they see your wide-opened eyes. They brush past you and you quickly bolt the door again.
'They're close behind us,' Obi-Wan explains. 'We must get into the palace. We should be safe there. Even if we didn't finish our mission.'
'Yeah, we're a bit out of time,' Anakin says, glancing out of the windows. 'They're here. They're going to find us in a moment.'
Suddenly, you throw yourself at the carpet. You manage to push it away, revealing a hidden door. You look up at stunned Jedi and smile. Kenobi chuckles.
'I assume you know where does it lead?' he asks. You nod and quickly open the secret passage. You jump in it. The men and the droid follow you. They light their weapons and follow you through the tunnels. It seems to them you take hundreds of different turns.
At last, you stop by a ladder. You climb first and force another door open. You get through it, your companions close behind. You close the hatch, while they look around.
Your new hideout is a seamstress shop. And you are in the store backroom. There are many mannequins, lots of fabric and various tailoring tools.
'We're breaking and entering now?' Obi-Wan asks. You shake your head. Your companions look at you curiously. Could it be your place? Well, they can't be certain. But it is possible.
'Well, we might as well think of our next move here,' Kenobi sighs, sitting up on a free stool. 'Since that was a complete disaster. And we don't have much time, since it's already dawn.'
'Not exactly,' Anakin denies. 'We know they are working together. And what deal did they make. Plus, I also got this!'
He shows you something and you quickly realize it's a key. Your eyes widen, when you understand what it is for. Obi-Wan stares at his padawan, astonished.
'This is why you suddenly disappeared?' he asks, a bit angry. 'They could have killed us!'
'I made a promise,' Skywalker says, giving his master a stern look, and turns your way. 'Here, let me.'
'You don't even know if it's this key,' Kenobi points out.
'Like they would bother to make various keys for each slave,' Anakin says bitterly and smiles at you. 'Don't be afraid.'
Hesitantly, you give him your hands. He swipes the key over each cuff. There's a beep, the restrains light up in green light and they fall from your hands. You massage your sore wrists, stunned.
'And now…' Skywalker says quietly, taking a step forward. Your heart skips a beat at this close proximity. Anakin swipes the key over the collar… and after a tense moment, it does the same as the cuffs. You exhale, relieved.
'Here, for your throat,' Obi-Wan says, offering you a cup of water he's found somewhere in this mess. You nod at him and drink it.
'Thank… cough, cough… you,' you say, your voice a bit hoarse from being unused for such long time, and smile. 'Thank you.'
'You're very welcome,' Kenobi says, putting the cup away. 'It's really good to finally hear your voice.'
'It's even better to be able to use it again,' you laugh and turn to grinning Skywalker. 'Thank you. Truly.'
'You're welcome,' Anakin says. 'Do you mind telling us your name?'
'[Y/N],' you introduce yourself. Before they can ask any more questions, a door suddenly opens and a woman with her ginger hair made in an updo walks in. She stops, startled, seeing you all.
'Oh,' she gasps quietly. Her eyes, one green and one brown, go wide when they land on you.
'Your Highness!' she exclaims, quickly curtsying. 'I didn't… I mean… Uh… Good morning.'
'Good morning, Katharina,' you chuckle. 'And don't apologize. It is I who should, for showing up in her unannounced.'
'I told you that you can do that any time, Your Highness,' the seamstress says, embarrassed. 'Um… are you in need of new clothes?'
'You know, I wouldn't mind getting out of those,' you answer, eyeing your "clothes". 'But something modest.'
'Understood,' Katharina says, nodding. 'Um, should I call for guards as well?'
'Oh, no, that would ruin the surprise,' you answer, smiling mischievously. The seamstress blinks but nods and hurries away. You turn to stunned Jedi. You raise your eyebrows.
'You never asked,' you say. 'And you probably wouldn't believe me anyway.'
'That's… very likely,' Obi-Wan admits and huffs with disbelief. 'Well, that… that's actually a good thing.'
'I assume my parents asked you to find me?' you ask. The Jedi nod.
'They feared Untons want to use you as a leverage,' Anakin explains. 'They're working with the slavers.'
'Of course, they do,' you scoff. 'What else did you find out?'
'Soon they're going to negotiate again with your parents,' Kenobi answers. 'They plan to reveal they have you then. Except… they don't.'
'The slavers must have kept it in secret that you ran away,' Skywalker adds, perking up. 'That actually explains why they were looking for you so frantically. But do the Untons still believe they have you?'
'It's possible, since we interrupted them just when they were about to see how you are,' Obi-Wan guesses, looking at you. 'I don't think they had time to check on you, since they were busy trying to locate us.'
'So… we can use that to our advantage,' you say slowly, already planning, and smirk. 'After all… who doesn't love a good element of surprise?'
*
The negotiations have resumed. They're not going well. The King refuses to back down, but so do the Untons. Andrrei wonders where the Jedi are. Even if they haven't had found his daughter, he would be grateful for their presence here.
'I think, Your Majesty, that you'd be wise to reconsider your stand,' the Untons' Chancellor says and smiles evilly. 'I don't think you'd like if-'
At that moment the doors to the Throne Room open with a bang. Everyone stares at it, shocked. Because the person marching through them is you, with both Jedi on both your sides.
You've washed, changed clothes, brushed your hair and put on make-up. You're wearing a modest but at the same time elegant dress, your family's jewel proudly decorating your top. The crown on your hair shines when light falls on the crystal in the shape of star. You look very much like a princess and both Jedi had to take a double take when they saw you after you emerged from your chambers.
'Apologies for being late,' you say loudly, heading toward the thrones. 'I had a little… adventure… earlier, and I couldn't possibly show myself the way I was after it was over. I hope you won't find me terribly rude because of it.
'No, not at all…' the Chancellor mumbles, staring at you in shock.
'As you can see, gentlemen, we have two Jedi with us today,' you say, turning to indicate your companions, who bow slightly. 'Since we can't come to an understanding, we believed it would be better if we had a third party with us. And who's better suited for the job than Jedi, the keepers of peace?'
The Untons voice their agreement weakly. You have to fight your smirk, as you climb on the stairs and take your place, leaving the Jedi between both sides of the conflict. You put your arms on armrests and cross your legs. You look at your "guests" challengingly, wanting them to break. But they keep their cool and the negotiations resume.
Your arrival seems to shake the Untons a lot. They can't find good arguments and your father has no problem in showing your new friends that they ask for too much. Obi-Wan, with Anakin's help, manages to convince them to back out their claims. Soon, somehow you manage to secure the deal that is in no means harmful to you. Untons leave the palace, very dissatisfied.
The moment the doors close behind them, your family, discarding the etiquette, jumps on their feet and rushes to pull you in a hug. Your mother's tears fall on your shoulder. Your little sister clings to your skirt. And your father holds you tightly with shaking hands.
'Thank you,' he says, his voice cracking, turning to the Jedi. 'Thank you so much. Not only for helping us with the negotiations, but for bringing me my daughter back.'
'We're very grateful,' Lyra says, refusing to let you go. Anakin and Obi-Wan bow.
'We just brought her home, Your Majesties,' Kenobi clarifies and gives you an amused look. 'The princess managed to break free on her own.'
Your mother and sister look at you with surprise. You give them a smug smile.
'That's my daughter and heir,' the King says proudly, but his expression turns solemn. 'Who did this?'
'My padawan was right,' Obi-Wan answers. 'Untons and the slavers were working together.'
'And I guess there is no proof of it?' Astrariel asks.
'Nothing except our word,' Anakin confirms grimly.
'Oh, the slavers won't be much of a problem soon,' you assure them with determination.
'Well, I'd be afraid if I were in their shoes,' your father says after a minute. 'How can we repay you?'
'There is no need,' Skywalker dismisses him. 'We were glad to help.'
'I see,' Andrrei says, while Kenobi looks at his padawan with pride. 'But if you ever need anything, anything at all, we'll be more than happy to help.'
'Thank you, Your Majesty,' Obi-Wan says, bowing together with Anakin. 'And if you ever need our help again, don't hesitate to ask.'
Soon, the Jedi and R2-D2 are ready to leave. Your family is at the docks, bidding them farewell. Kenobi gets into a discussion with the King, Queen and the younger princess. You take the opportunity and walk to Skywalker, who gazes thoughtfully at your city.
'Beautiful, isn't it?' you ask. He glances at you.
'A true paradise,' he confirms.
'But only for us,' you say. 'I hope one day all planets will have paradises of their own.'
'Sounds like a beautiful dream, Your Highness,' Anakin says. You stare at him. Ever since he's found out who you are, he's distanced himself from you. You understand that. But it still hurts a little.
'[Y/N],' you say, surprising him and causing him to look at you. 'I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you. I don't want you to be so formal with me. Please.'
'If, uh, you're sure about it,' the Jedi says sheepishly. You smile.
'I am,' you confirm and take his hand. 'Thank you. For helping me and… sharing your story with me, when I was scared and felt alone.'
'It was my pleasure,' Skywalker says and looks at your family. 'I'm glad I could get you back to the people who love you.'
'What was her name?' you ask. He looks at you, surprised and confused.
'Your mother,' you explain. His face falls. He looks down.
'Shmi,' he answers quietly. You squeeze his hand.
'I'll pray for her every day,' you promise. 'And for you to see her again one day.'
'Thank you,' he says, touched, and looks into your eyes. 'May the Force be with you. I hope-'
'Yes?' you inquire when he trails off. He blushes and looks away.
'I hope it will allow us to meet again,' he finally says, taking the courage to look into your eyes.
'Any friend of mine is always welcomed on Luth,' you assure him. He looks at you with surprise. But then, he grins. You respond in kind.
'I hope next time, then, you will tell me your story,' he says, slightly teasingly.
'You can count on it,' you chuckle and squeeze his hand again. 'May the Force be with you. I can't wait to see what an incredible Jedi Knight you'll become, Anakin.'
'Thank you, [Y/N],' Skywalker says and to your surprise, brings your hand to his lips to kiss it. 'I'm sure you're going to be the best queen this planet has ever seen.'
'But hopefully not soon,' you say. He laughs.
'No, I wish your father a long and happy live,' he assures you and you smile. Just then others join you.
'Is everything ready?' Obi-Wan asks his padawan. His friend nods.
'Yes, master,' he confirms and bows to the royal family. 'It was an honor meeting you.'
'The honor was ours, Padawan Skywalker,' your father says. One by one, your family hug very stunned Anakin. You have to hold back a laugh. You turn to Kenobi. He bows to you.
'Farewell, princess,' he says. 'May the Force be with you.'
'And with you,' you say, curtsying. 'And, please, call me [Y/N]. You saved me. I'd like us to be friends.'
Obi-Wan just smiles and nods at you. He looks at his padawan and they both board their ship. R2-D2 bumps you softly, beeping.
'Goodbye, R2-D2,' you say, patting his head. He beeps again and hurries after his Jedi. A moment later the ship starts and rises. You watch it fly away until it's no longer visible. You smile slightly, knowing deep down in your heart, that you will meet Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and R2-D2 again.

I just saw a YouTube video about how the clone wars were portrayed by legends writers in between the end of the OT and before the Prequels, and it's so very interesting the various ways authors chose to expand upon what would have been, at the time, nothing more than a throwaway line.
One of the comments even talks about a theory that, apparently, came about after New Hope (Of course, then just Star Wars) released. It speculated that the *Jedi* were the clones the wars were named after, and that Obi Wan was himself a clone of Ben Kenobi, designated "OB1." How crazy is that!?
Yeah I mean that's pretty much how the original Thrawn trilogy that was written pre-Prequels chose to interpret it I think. The "clones" were all DIFFERENT clones of different people, mostly Jedi, and one of the primary villains in that trilogy is in fact the clone of a Jedi. But the clones in this trilogy don't have that sense of individuality that the canon Jango clones do as per TCW, they seem to still think they are the original person and have no idea that they're a clone. The cloning process also seemed to cause some level of mental and emotional instability in that trilogy, which was part of what made the clone wars so devastating and dangerous or something.
One of the most interesting parts of reading that trilogy, for me, was seeing all of the various things that were in there that they had to just sort-of... make up and assume because there wasn't any more information to be had yet. The Thrawn trilogy also had a particularly interesting timeline wherein the implication seemed to be that Luke and Leia's mother got together (or at least was impregnated by) their father AFTER HE'D BECOME VADER rather than before (which leads to some very interesting questions about their mother, like was this consensual at all or not, and if it WAS then what the fuck kind of person was she and why did she leave and only stay with one child instead of the other). Vader was also a lot older than he ended up being in canon, which makes sense given the way he looked in ROTJ. Leia's relationship with the Organas is vastly different than what it ended up being post-Prequels, especially since the ROTJ dialogue implies she'd known her mother long enough to have memories of her. There's even things like what abilities Jedi would have that they don't know yet and so Luke ends up refusing to jump off of a wall 10 feet high which I found particularly funny given everything we've seen the Jedi jump off of since then. 10 feet was NOTHING.
So I applaud the writers in that time period for doing their best to come up with ideas for what the clones might have been, but I can't say I prefer it to what we got in canon. I fucking LOVE the clones, I love all the different characters it created for us that are all so incredible, I love their relationship to the Jedi, I just love them and I wouldn't trade them for ANYTHING.
