MY SON, GRUMBO

oh my gosh, I finished Maw and I am head over heels in love with him. This is my first time making a proper art doll where i had to construct the base itself which was really scary but I'm so happy with the result!

About the doll, Maw is made from socket armature and 14 gauge wire for his supports, then quilt batting and scuplty III for his ""flesh"", and finally he's wrapped in stretch pleather for the outer skin layer. All of his teeth are cosclay to make them flexible around his movement. He was painted using mostly acrylics, but this was also my first time busting out an airbrush in full force! i used that for the shading effects.

This character is a chainsaw man OC known as the Maw devil, who is centered around a fear of mouths. He has a goofy, upbeat, silly personality, but would not hesitate to kill and eat anyone, even teammates, if given the legal opportunity.

 I’m so excited to see magics story!! This was also the my first time doing a doll custom so it’s not the Mona Lisa lol also the hair makes me think of the saying “the higher the hair, the closer to god”

I’m actually so proud of myself- look at her face up! It took a while but I’m so glad I did it- also do y’all think I should add top lashes? I honestly like her the way she is and I’m lowkey scared to ruin her by trying...

Anyone know where to get good, reliable/long-lasting clear rubber bands for doll hair? I’m using these ones I got from Walmart, forget the brand (not Conair but that other popular brand I can’t remember lol) but they always break down/snap after a few months and it’s annoying as hell lmao I REALLY like those like...really strong ones that come on some Mattel dolls? Like the rubber (or whatever they���re made with) is almost more stiff than usual and they always last forever for me so I’d love to find a brand like that.  It’s especially annoying with these because I’m getting all of these older 2000s Barbies and some of them have really nice hairstyles that I don’t want to have to re-do every couple months when the bands start breaking down. Gonna try these latex-free ones from Dollyhair but open to other suggestions tooo!
