I believe this is absolutely a patriarchal method of keeping women from leading independent, fulfilling lives. I’ve encountered this so many times whether it’s solo traveling, living alone, or even just going to do things in a nearby city alone.

Actually by far the way I am most likely to die doing that is... some sleep deprived or drunk driver crashing into me on the way there!
