im not at all for policing people's bodies and privacy, but like sumn I noticed when it comes to these public sex/masturbation posts is that white queers have kinda this sense of entitlement paired with a victim complex that can only be ascertained with being a person with white privilege on an axis of oppression. that any actions they engage in don't require critique or nuance. like I can see the disparity between the opinions of white ppl vs non black ppl vs black ppl on these types of topics. I saw this a lot as well when people kept ramping up those 'if you're pro gay and pro kink you have to be okay with ALL kinks' type posts. some people just have a sense decorum when it comes to these things and i don't think that automatically means they're playing into respectability politics or are 'puritans' or got internalized homophobia/transphobia.

Sometimes it's actually less Cringe to be like, "Yeah I love this children's show made for children" than to get so insecure about it you're like "No you don't understand it's SO DAAAARK and SERIOUS and DICTATORSHIP STATE ALLEGORY"

cassandra & clytemnestra
Tumblr media Tumblr media
class doodles <3
cassandra: super proud of how she turned out!! i love noses so much and ive managed to give her a really glorious one today. she got a few compliments too hehe
clytemnestra: idk how well ive managed to depict it lol but cly is both mourning iphigenia and planning out her vengeance. its going to be a long 10 years but she will have her killers blood.
--
i still have a long way to go till i finish the iliad so i dont know everyones story yet, i do know however that cly like many before and after her arent often portrayed with the complexities that make them them, that make them human, but instead as paragons or pariahs. and i think theres lots to be said on the matter, but i dont want to get ahead of myself lol. anyway enjoy :D

Sometimes I think about how c!Tommy literally stole the axe of peace for no fucking reason despite c!Techno asking for it back in an honestly rather civil way right after Tommy literally turned his back on Techno to be murdered by an angry mob (a mob that Techno minutes before said he'd fight for Tommy's safety if needed) which is just like... a jackass thing to do... and then I think about that one c!Techno hating inniter who tried to justify that because 'Techno didn't deserve the ax' LMAO

i hope ruby gets a well-that’s-alright-then-style notdeath. on the one hand it will make haters mad because oh no not another companion with an impermanent end (and i like to see haters mad) on the other it would require creativity to depict this in a new way + i love all the implications i love the dark fairytale quality of these companion exits i love my un-undead schrodinger’s women
Tumblr media Tumblr media
with the way the legend of ruby sunday is titled… legends aren’t usually told about living people. legends are stories of the bygone past, of an age long since over, fictionalised and overgrown with folklore like barnacles sticking to an abandoned shell. there is such a thing as a living legend, but they’re exceedingly rare. the unmistakeable raven’s call in the 73 yards teaser, the trailer’s cut to fifteen crying alone after promising to cherry he’d protect her daughter… the foreshadowing is clear as day…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and yet. there’s one massive HOWEVER. ruby appears in s15: millie’s been spotted on set filming it. which leads me to believe — the doctor isn’t one to take the time travel route and revisit companions that in his future are genuinely dead. that would hurt too much, it would cause unnecessary trauma and could break the timeline. that must mean ruby stays alive in some way. ish. she’s alive and a legend and a mystery. girl-ballad girl-song girl-paradox
Tumblr media Tumblr media
here she is, fading out.
p.s.: thesis statement on moffatgirls from the tags i left on somebody else’s post about charley pollard.. well it belongs here since it’s basically the semiotic hurricane swirling around ruby at the moment :)

#on a personal level what interests me about these characters is precisely what gets them labeled as being subject to#misogynistic writing by pop-feminist video-essayists. as an autistic girl* (*ish) however; i find female characters that#aren’t quite ‘normal people’; women who represent an idea or concept or are a puzzle to be solved or a manic pixie dream girl to be#more and in a way far more interesting than a girl-next-door-type universally relatable protagonist#they make for more nuanced stories with more symbolism and more layers of interpretation usually. why should there be realism in a#fantastical narrative? similarly i like characters that are haunting the narrative or dead before it began (big locked tomb fan if you#didn’t know) and like. not to be tvtropes but the lost lenore archetype. dead woman who spurs the hero on to recklessness or revenge.#i identify with that dead girl. the laura palmers of the world. set the story in motion without#necessarily having agency. maybe it’s something to do with my#constant background radiation of passive suicidality. in a fun whimsical way :) i would never kill myself but i don’t want to be a real#person. i want to be objectified but not necessarily in a k*nky s*xual way (that too) in a princess in a tower way#the ultimate femme fantasy innit? there’s something about it. hashtag problematic hashtag conforming to gender roles#10000 tags be upon ye#ruby sunday#millie gibson#doctor who#dw#steven moffat#clara oswald#fifteen#fifteenth doctor#twelveclara#amy pond#charley pollard#river song#donna noble#ncuti gatwa#doctor who meta#jamie.txt#haunting

i think a lot of people oversimplify the concept of "bury your gays" to just mean killing off any queer character when as i understand it, it's much more about killing off the (only/main) queer character in an arbitrary way, often for shock value, to motivate the straight character(s), or to remove the queer character as a complication. if eight people die and one of them is gay that's not a bury your gays. if there are eight gays and one of them dies that's not a bury your gays either. not burying your gays doesn't necessarily mean they all live and killing them off isn't inherently/automatically a bury your gays

not excusing bell hooks for being a landlord but hm how are you a marxist or even a stalinist saying we should never touch bell hooks' work ever again because of this. like why do you have so much to say? unless you're an actual extremist and radical and you're actually about it I'm calling misogynoir and walking away because how are most of the ppl doing this, non-black ppl talking to black ppl about this as if we have not been having these conversations without your sticky annoying selves inserted in the convo forever acting like you're doing ppl a favour

my two cents on the whole ‘evil isn’t interesting to explore in fiction’ take is that (1) yeah it’s a non-issue and this stance seems to me like an extension of the mandarin-sharing, horror is for love, make everything nice and simplistic trend and (2) in the cases when it is an issue. well, I think morality is an interesting concept actually, and good and evil are a part of it. evil has just occasionally been written about in deeply uninteresting ways. blame the interpretations, not the concept.

every other week or so im struck with the powerful urge to become an editor on the limbus wiki. its been an uphill battle every time i see smth that i know and isnt on there or that could be fixed. but holy shit would i never do anything else
#i cant imagine how much context i could glean if i knew korean btw#in japanese they tend to have a lot more distinct dialogue quirks so its easier to tell who writes the flavor texts#(i am in camp 'every single description comes from a character')#and also the amount of Theory you can get from comparing what lines stay the same in each language. or comparing nuances in word choice#so many of my thoughts are wondering which parts of each translation were truest to the original text#like. in english theyre 'sinners' but in japanese they're 'prisoners'#in korean is it a word that means both? or maybe there's a specific connotation they're going for?#japanese has a regular ol' word for 'sinner' too it's very much deliberate methinks. were i a stronger man id be picking up the duolingo#anyways can you tell its my first day back on the adderall#tumblrs lucky i usually dump this on the discord friends the blog would be flooded#nightmare nightmare nightmare#post edit just something interesting but did you know in the bull observation logs one of the lines is pretty clearly rodya in japanese#but the english version of the line is almost certainly heath#weird innit#edit 2: theres a couple more instances of this (albeit less apparent) which is leading me to think that in the original texts#rodya and heath have similar dialects and the translators went with one or the other. interesting to consider the distinction between#a deliberate translation choice and simply separate people making their own interpretations. much to consider

I've finally got around to actually filling in my own response and just a heads up that while they say it only takes like 20 min to complete, if you, like me, have about 8 years worth of shit to complain about, it may take you several hours instead 🙃
Calling all trans, nonbinary, detrans, etc folk who've used adult GIC services in England within the past 5 years/are currently an adult GIC patient! The NHS is having a survey!!
NHS england is having a survey for trans ppl who've used the adult gender services within the past 5 years, be sure to respond before the 19th January 2025!
Here is also transactual's sign post & preparatory comments on it if you wanna look at those
This is a survey done *by the nhs*, they've listened to a decent chunk of the feedback from trans charities (transactual worries abt the remaining questions around detransition and regret, but let's just re-demonstrate how rare it is, like we end up doing anyway in any survey that ever checks about that, while letting detrans folk have their say too @ transactual smh), and this will give us UK-specific, healthcare-specific stats to help with the current trans healthcare crisis we're facing, so MAKE SURE TO FILL IT OUT IF YOU QUALIFY and do so as honestly/sincerely as possible!
This is regardless of nationality, obviously, as we all use the NHS, including non-UK-citizen UK residents like myself. When I say "UK trans folk" I always mean "any trans folk in the UK"

seeing some of this egg discourse it's like. I think some of you have rancid friends and/or have whacked out perceptions of how interactions with other people go and what they Mean

i’m not gonna reblog anything on the topic or name names but that person who said people who haven’t kissed anyone are loser freaks or whatever and then, when people started saying “hey man that’s mean and childish,” doubled the fuck down and started saying shit like “well i have a wife and i kiss my wife all the time and if you don’t have a wife you’re a fucking loser,” is surely among the most deeply unpleasant and dorky individuals on this website

Well to be fair that's fanfic in general. These are barbie dolls and inevitably people are gonna make them scissor and kiss sloppy. But with that I do counter back a little and say they DO have chemistry and thats the fucked up part. Pre crash they are the closest on the ship and that is seen in how the interact and talk and joke. Even the way jimmy sits in the seat curly is supposed to sit in as captain and vice versa. It's implied they've known each other for a hot minute and possible back on earth.
Curly is a doormat for jimmy to walk on and jimmy is a physical and mental anchor for Curly. I can see them being codependent (fwb? Qpr? Platonic? Romantic etc etc?) before the crash, before the tulpar, before all of that. They are both fucked in the head a tiny bit (some more than others lol) and I suspect that is why curly doesn't blow his top off when he talks to anya.
But in all honesty, anyone has full right not to fw a ship for any reason, but I do see it? Like what others could see in the pairing. Less of romance and more of a dynamic you can watch in a hamster cage. A tragedy play that you still sit down and watch bc it's interesting af
One thing about the jimmy curly toxic yaoi situation that I've found extremely funny is how ive seen more people get pissed and complain about it of it but havent really seen it
In fact I've maybe seen...eh give or take 3 pieces of fanart on here and I'm stretching it thin rn
