ā€œThis is it, Johnnycakes,ā€ his voice was quiet, whispering as if he was on holy ground. He always spoke softly here. ā€œIā€™m leavinā€™ Tulsa. Maybe for good.ā€ There was no answer but the wind. Pony sighed, running his fingers through the damp grass. ā€œGoinā€™ to college in the north. Darry ā€˜n Soda are proud. I jusā€™ wanna get out.ā€ He exhaled, leaning his head back. ā€œWe always said we were gonna leave, huh? Wish you were here to come with me. Itā€™d be far enough away from Tulsa for you.ā€
The sunlight poking through the trees casted a soft, golden glow over the graveyard. Pony didnā€™t want to leave - who knew when heā€™d be back? But he had to head back before Darry called the cops because he was missing. He stared at the name on the headstone as he stood up, suddenly overwhelmed with emotions. He missed his best friend everyday, now more than ever.
ā€œYou were just too damn good for growing old, Johnny Cade.ā€ His voice broke slightly, despite the smile on his face. ā€œā€¦but I wish you werenā€™t.ā€
He finally pulled himself away, forcing his feet to walk him back to his home - though it wouldnā€™t be his home for much longer, would it?

A little excerpt from an abandoned wip:
Tumblr media
Despite her standout performance in training and dutifulness with the sages, Enora was worried that it wasnā€™t enough to catch Master Ru or Odoaā€™s attention. Being next in line to be the [Head Spiritual Leader] came with the responsibility of filtering wisdom from Odoa and training the next healers of [Kingdom]. She couldnā€™t imagine having anyone look to her for such guidance.
This would be the most life-altering decision she would ever make, and the choice was in someone elseā€™s hands.
The soft light from the candles around the room waned as the sun stretched across the horizon and through the window. Often she woke up before dawn to meditate before her studies each day. Often she did so alone, but on important occasions, Kugo joined her. Of course, he was never permitted to stay long unless he busied himself in some way to help her start her day. His favorite form of ā€œbusy workā€ was holding her tea. Originally, the offer had been extended after she had artfully sewn his arm back together after a training accident. He had injuries attended to by other healers before. Yet, how she seemed to sense where the cut was before she was told intrigued him, and the swiftness in which she resolved the insult soothed the pain but bruised his ego. The following morning he was outside mumbling a thank you, cup in hand, when she showed up for her next healing lesson. The brew was bitter, but his efforts had earned him a muted, sweet smile and an order to fetch her another one from the kitchens.
Definitely needs some work, but thereā€™s something here.
Excited to see what you think!

"To the religous, my love is justification for their hatred. to the religious, a god that neglects and kills is kind. Which begs the question , how truly kind and loving is a father that burns his children for loving?, if god loves me so much, why would he burden me with a love worse than murder?"

(This is an exerpt from a novel I am writing called AURORA.
It follows a group of magical beings descendant of human women named Astrellai. They reside in the kingdom Astrellis as their goddess, Lumi, has gifted them the ability to populate independently of men or humans and to draw magic from a direct source, rather than the dying magic of the earth. This source being the Aurora Vitalis, a long standing array of lights which hang above in the heavens over their kingdom.
However, the human kingdom they share an island with has long been at war with them, whilst they both fight off Spain and France in order to protect a mysterious woods between the border of them. The story follows these young women and the sapphic romances that threaten to throw the balance of everything into the air.)
ā€œWhy?!ā€
Elizabella stumbled backwards, startled by the guttural scream that all but erupted from the other. ā€œI- Why what?ā€
ā€œI donā€™t understand!ā€ Valora made a loud frustrated noise and then she pinned Elizabellaā€™s eyes with her own. ā€œWhy? Why donā€™t you want me? You love me but youā€™re not willing to act on it. I donā€™t- I donā€™t understand!ā€
ā€œItā€™s not so simple, Valoraā€¦ā€ Elizabella frowned. She didnā€™t attempt to look away, hoping Valora may understand easier.
ā€œI have never ever come across a problem so simple to solve.ā€ Valoraā€™s eyes rimmed with tears and she was the one to break their stare, turning away from Elizabella and returning to her pacing. ā€œIf we love each other, why can we not be in love? Why can we not be lovers?ā€
ā€œBecauseā€¦ Iā€¦ā€ Elizabella warred with herself. Not on giving in, but on telling her the truth. ā€œIā€¦ It is not safe, Valora.ā€
ā€œHavenā€™t I proven myself? Over and over again. I wonā€™t hurt your daughter, Iā€™ve changed as a person. Please, Bella, pleaseā€¦ā€ Valoraā€™s voice broke on her last plea and she turned further away from Elizabella, so all that could be seen of her was her back. ā€œYouā€™ve made me changeā€¦ā€
Why was guilt so painful? For all of the shame and hopelessness it brought, why did it have to add further torment with pain? Elizabella could withstand all of the shame in the world, sheā€™d lived through times when there truly was no hope, butā€¦ her tolerance to pain was low. And so, to alleviate herself, and Valora in one breath, she stepped forward, gingerly reaching to touch the other woman.
But Valora yanked her arm away, looking at Elizabella like sheā€™d pressed a hot poker to her skin. ā€œDonā€™t torture me.ā€
ā€œIā€™m not torturing youā€¦ā€ Elizabella grew distressed. ā€œIā€¦ Please understand, Valoraā€¦ This world, itā€™s too dangerousā€¦ā€
ā€œI will protect youā€¦ā€ Valora pleaded and then she shocked Elizabella, dropping to her knees and fervently grabbing at Elizabellaā€™s skirts. Elizabella made a half hearted attempt to grab them back but Valora was making no attempt to lift her skirt, simply hold onto it. ā€œI will love you for eternity, you will never want for anything. Whether it be comfort, safety, security, economy, you will have it! You need only ask and you need onlyā€¦ love me backā€¦ā€ It was a sob. All of it was one quick long sob.
Elizabellaā€™s heart shattered.
ā€œMi Vidaā€¦ā€ Valora looked up at her. Her skin was splotched crimson red with white tear streaks still forming down it. The fire that seemed to always rage in the depths of her eyes was gone, a smoke taking its place. It was in this moment that Elizabella understood fate.Ā
ā€œI am your undoing.ā€ She whispered, reaching up to hold her chest in order to hold herself together as the world fell around her. ā€œIā€¦ I cannot escape it. I cannot spare you. To love you is to destroy you, and to leave you is to kill you.ā€
ā€œI am undone, Elizabella!ā€ Valora exclaimed, burying her face back in her skirts. ā€œI am already unraveled, I am a mad woman and you caused it! You cannot escape what has already been done, so why not give in and allow us to have what we both desperately crave.ā€
Elizabella pulled away from the other, having to wrench the material of her skirts away and she put as much distance as necessary between her and Valora. However, Valora just remained on the floor. Her hands fell into her lap and her head fell back, where guttural sobs wrenched from her body. They ricocheted off the solid oak of the ceiling and careened right into Elizabella, hitting her back until she hit the wall and she threw her arms up in a foolish attempt to shield herself from her own guilt.Ā
Finally, she just broke. ā€œIt is not to be!ā€ Elizabella cried and an instinctive pulse shot from her, temporarily startling Valora into silence as she looked up at her with wide eyes. ā€œIt is not to be! I would ratherā€¦ Iā€¦ā€ She took a deep breath. ā€œI cannot escape being your undoing. But I can choose and I have seen what comes from us. I have seen you killed by your own fatherā€™s hand and-ā€ She pressed her eyes shut, trying to fight off the memories of her premonitions. ā€œIt is not to be.ā€
ā€œNo.ā€Ā
Elizabellaā€™s eyes flashed open, staring at the other. Valora was no longer begging.Ā
Valora shook her head and looked around herself, slowly gathering herself up as she stood. ā€œIt is fear that keeps you from me. You would choose me.ā€
ā€œIā€¦ I will not make promises I am not certain of.ā€ Elizabella mumbled, but maybe this was the thread she needed. Maybe this would make Valora see. ā€œI think I would choose you. Butā€¦ I canā€™t. We canā€™t be together, can you make peace with what could be, rather than what isnā€™t?ā€
Valora laughed, bitterly, and she wiped her face with her hands. There was something cold, but it wasā€¦ a different kind of coldness. Elizabella didnā€™t recognize it, and it frightened her deeply. ā€œBellaā€¦ā€Ā
She came forward, pinning Elizabellaā€™s eyes again and backing her right back up against the wall, but she didnā€™t press her. Instead, she kept a respectful distance, her eyes traveling down to Elizabellaā€™s hand. Elizabella followed them to see Valora reach forward and take it. Her ice cold skin sent the same shock through Elizabellaā€™s like it always did, but Elizabella looked up at Valora.
Valora was staring at her mouth and she smiled. ā€œOh, Bella. Iā€™m too selfish to focus on what I do have. Iā€™ve only been able to see what I want. And I want you. I will never be satisfied with what could be.ā€
ā€œValoraā€¦ā€ Elizabella pleaded, though she was starting to wonder if this was futile. Sheā€™d never be able to get Valora to see reason.
Valora brought Elizabellaā€™s knuckles to her lips, closing her eyes while she did so. Then, she spoke into Elizabellaā€™s skin, sending small tingles and zaps up her arm like she always did. Oh, if Valora knew how she affected Elizabellaā€¦ ā€œBefore, if you didnā€™t love me, maybe I would simply soothe my ego with some other girl or boy. Tell myself that you just donā€™t know how amazing I am and forget about you. Butā€¦ youā€™ve changed me, Elizabella. And knowing that you love me, too, makes me entirely unwilling to drop this. But thatā€™s okay.ā€Ā
Elizabellaā€™s stomach dropped when Valora opened her eyes. In the back of them, as clear as it's always been, the flames raged. They rose higher as Valora spoke, her eyes hardening. ā€œI know the solution. Iā€™ll return, my love, and you will be assured that there is no danger. No fear to be had.ā€
ā€œValora-ā€
Valora pulled away, grabbing her cloak and her sword. ā€œAdonaeis and Evanora have already left to my fatherā€™s castle.ā€
ā€œValora, I donā€™t know what youā€™re going to do, but please donā€™t do it!ā€ Elizabella pleaded, following Valora as she went out of her house and to her horse. ā€œValora! Heā€™ll kill you!ā€
ā€œHe hasnā€™t succeeded, yet.ā€ Valora shook her head, turning to face Elizabella as soon as she got to her horse. The determination on her face stopped Elizabella in her tracks and Valora smiled at her. ā€œIā€™ll return soon, my love. Give Lysette my love.ā€
ā€œValora- Valora, no!ā€ Elizabella recovered, rushing forward as Valora mounted her horse. ā€œDonā€™t do this!ā€
Valora only continued to smile and she blew a kiss before her horse rushed off and Elizabella slid to a stop where it once stood. Now, she watched it disappear through the border and fell to her knees. ā€œNo!ā€ She screamed.
Terror pulled pins and needles to her face, but she could only ignore them to break into sobs. ā€œWhy?! Why?! Why have you done this?!ā€ She begged herself, holding her chest. ā€œWhy have you foolishly fallen in love??ā€
Your love dooms her. She and her father will war. One will be victorious.Ā
Elizabella should have told her about the prophecy. She should have told her about the card reading, she should have told her everything and now, because of her own fear, sheā€™d directly caused the fulfilling of the prophecy. Your love. The love they shared.Ā
Pleaseā€¦
She found herself pleading with the forest or anyone that was listening, pressing her eyes shut. Save my loveā€¦ Pleaseā€¦ Do not let her dieā€¦ Do not let her be undone.
She held her hands together, whispering her pleas into the white rose that grew there. ā€œPlease save herā€¦ā€ She sobbed and then she offered the rose to the forest.
Butā€¦ the flames didnā€™t come.
ā€œPlease!ā€ She cried, begging the gods. ā€œSpare her! I know you owe her no loyalty, but spare her! You can have my life, instead!ā€
But the flames still did not come. The stars twinkled above her, taunting her with how unaffected they were. Why did they not weep with the terror she felt? Maybe Valora was nothing to them, but she overwhelmed Elizabellaā€™s being so much that she almost felt like there was no way her own sorrow was not splintering the earth.
No, the earth was unyielding under this crushing weight, it hardly flinched.Ā
ā€œPleaseā€¦ā€ She pleaded, just one more time. But the rose was not taken. She was not enough to spare the human.
No, she knew the truth. She was too valuable, the stars were too selfish to let their princess go in order to save a mere human, let aloneā€¦
The Tower.

So this will have a range of relationships, all sapphic, and it follows Elizabella and Adonaeis. Elizabella being the subject of this scene, she's the daughter of Lumi, and one day a woman in knight's armor, bearing the crest of the King on her chest, stumbles into her glade before collapsing with what would be a fatal wound in her side.
Elizabella already has a child, Lysette, with the younger of the king's two sons, who assaulted her and then kept her and her child's existence hidden from everyone, and so she is reluctant to help. However, as she's a Vitali, woven with the Life Strand of the Aurora Vitalis, she is bound to duty to help any injured person who falls into her glade. But... things are quickly not adding up.
For instance, this woman bears striking resemblance to the King, despite him only having sons, as well as his two brothers only having sons. But she connects to Lysette very well and Lysette is showing a concerning attachment... it's no wonder, though, after her father mysteriously disappeared a year before and stopped visiting. She holds her breath, praying he won't come back, but the woman is very insistent the King's sons are both dead... almost like she'd done it, herself.
Adonaeis and Evanora are both out looking for their cousin, Valora. Both are great fighters, but they have a hell of a backstory and plenty to leave behind just as soon as they find Valora and get off this fucking island.
But then Adonaeis gets separated off from Evanora and she comes across an Yggdrasil, or living house that the witches she's been taught to fear were known to grow in order to live in. It's in this home that she finds a painting of an impossibly beautiful woman. The painting calls for her and soon the spirit of the woman comes and guides her to a pond where she finds the young woman and her small child rest at the bottom of.
The young woman calls to her and so she pulls the woman from her pond where she reveals she's a witch, that the King ordered her to meet a violent end as an example, and that Adonaeis is fated to be with her.
Adonaeis, while she's reluctant to let go of everything she's been taught, quickly realizes that this woman has no idea who she is. She has no idea who Adonaeis used to be. Adonaeis could have the new start she desperately wants and the love she desperately craves.
So yeah. Adonaeis, Evanora, and Valora are all trans women. All romances are sapphic.

The Journal of a Protagonist
I am currently in the process of editing and revising my novel. Iā€™ve decided that is might be fun that instead of posting chapters to the internet, that I would post what I believe the characters would write if they had a journal.
For reference, here is a summary of the novel: In the year 2055, assassins and mercenaries are dominating the work force. Organized by what the world assumes is keeping everything from falling into chaos, has ulterior motives. Already struggling with figuring out how her existence is even possible, Nyx now has to solve the mystery of why the organizations heir is being targeted.
Together with her makeshift family, her possible new friend, and powers she doesnā€™t fully understand, Nyx aims to bring down the corrupt politicians and possibly herself in the process.
Warnings: this story contains graphic depictions of suicide, abuse, and violence. Some characters suffer from disorders that I do not personally have including DID, Schizophrenia, Kleptomania, and borderline personality disorder, and (not a disorder but still needs to be listed), deafness. I have done extensive research in each disorder including accurate medical terms and stories from others about how their own experiences. Not all depictions may be accurate but please note that each character is unique similar to how everyoneā€™s experience is different no matter what youā€™re going through.
Please, if you are interested in seeing more, I would love to hear your thoughts! Likes and comments are appreciated but please donā€™t reblog
I do not give permission to repost anything regarding my ideas for this story. The characters and plot are entirely my own. Itā€™s been years of work so please respect that it should not go anywhere else.
For more see my masterlist
I will post more later, but here is a small snippet on Nyxā€™s journal.

Dear book of blank pages,
William said I should write to help me understand myself more. Apparently Iā€™m spending to much time trying to figure out my mortality situation and need a new hobby. Iā€™m not sure what Iā€™m supposed to write though.
I know the otherā€™s write, each about different things. Jez writes about his anger with love poems in-between. Klee is always writing notes about her day and likes writing lists. Blythe has been coming with recipes for new ways of getting high and studies about her plants. Osiris writes book reviews in his free time. Then finally Aspen tries to make sure he keeps the line clear between whatā€™s real and whatā€™s not.
I guess all of us need a way to cope. William is doing his best in the circumstances, Iā€™m aware of that, but I donā€™t understand why I need to find a way to cope other then figuring out how Iā€™m possible. Letting the idea of death consume my thoughts becomes entertainment when one canā€™t die.
Gene mutations, electric shocks, pure luck, it could be anything really. I shouldnā€™t be alive. I wasnā€™t born. And if Iā€™m being honest, I wish it would never would have been happened.
May next time I write Iā€™ll be able to put more of my research down. For now though, I need to go beat Aspen at chess again.

Excerpt from a set of paragraphs describing what Lutaxa's warriors look like:
Most Gannic shield-warriors and shield-maidens wore war-paint and dyed wool garments plain or with checkered, tartan, diamond, or herring-bone patterns, though fighters who went shirtless were not uncommon. Zealots of warlike gods such as Vindicatus or Atepu were known to fight with only their weapons and war-paint. As in, no clothes: just spears, swords, and shields, with scrotums or snatches bared for all.
For that last line, I'm deciding if I like it or "just spears, swords, shields, and scrotums or snatches."
Working on a possible spinoff origin-story for Queen Viarra's mom, Princess-Consort Lutaxa. Given that I based Lutaxa's people on the pre-Roman Celts, all these Gaul-sounding names I'm using keep giving me Urdezo and Goscinny vibes.

Pony suddenly remembered the first time heā€™d called home after moving to the city. It had been almost a year, heā€™d been so busy that phoning home had fallen down his priorities. Heā€™d been talking for a while about his new job when Darry interrupted him.
ā€œGlory, Pony, you sound different.ā€
And he did sound different. Heā€™d lost his southern accent over the years, instead forming a slight northeastern one.
Pony wondered if that was the first sign of him backing away from his brothers completely.

"I don't think she is a morning person," Azmi whispered to me.
