I think your page speaks volumes about the way you’ve perceived and endured life and I’m sorry you haven’t had the time or opportunity to soak up the good things that are all around you, I hope you develop skills that allow your success to be built off of things that are good and pure and not cheap manipulation tactics and lies
Devil may care: A guide on being unbothered.
Okay, and??
Sweetheart, I really appreciate your unwanted sympathies and illusionary sensitivity directed towards me. In our culture when someone is being sweet, kind and helpful (even if fake) we make sure that we pay them back with something valuable. Here's a small guide curated for you that will help you in being self secure so you won't feel threatened by other people's success and opinions.
1) Have a life:
Nothing screams idle to me more than this. Like you have time to be offended by someone's post and comments which you might just scroll by and ignore?? On top of that going above and beyond to let that person know. Okay, Sushma. Now log off and do the pending coursework.
2) Build genuine confidence:
Ladies, fake it till you make it can only go this far. You have to work on your underlying issues and address them. If you don't you are susceptible to triggering even by a mere stranger. Confident people don't need to go above and beyond to prove other people. They embody it.
3) Self awareness:
It's tiring to explain this. Just Google it at this point. This word is thrown like a football everywhere. You know it. Do the homework.
4) Practice self compassion and boundaries:
Negative feedback is part and parcel of life. Accept it, analyse and if it applies adopt or otherwise ignore. Boundaries are important to understand the difference between constructive criticism and disrespect.
If disrespected don't be afraid to put a bitch in place. Until then shut your mouth and concentrate on your goals.
5) Opinions are subjective:
Everyone has their own life experiences and opinions are formed based on those. Your Roman Empire might be different from your friends but does it mean it's invalid? No. Develop empathy and open-mindedness. Not everyone has the same views. It's okay.
6) Develop a thick skin:
You can't survive in this world if you are triggered by the tiniest of things. You have to be comfortable in being painted both as a hero and as a villain. Don't let others opinion get to your head. Owe to yourself that I will stand in my truth thou glory or disgrace.
7) Reflect a rbf stance:
When someone tries to belittle you, try to put you down, talk shit about you. Your body language should be cold and reserved with a rbf that screams intimidation but all you are going to say is Okay, and??
8) Master Sarcasm:
I have said this before and I will say it again. Revenge is a dish best served cold. Sarcasm is the ice in it. Ladies learn sarcasm. It's the one way ticket to put people in their place in a humorous way.
9) Be classy. Be polite. BE UNTOUCHABLE.
Who do you think will be named as the crazy one? The one who is screaming and belittling someone or the one who is still being polite but discreetly showing the person where they belong. Never resort to screaming and shouting. That's dumb. Second never go out of your way to prove how you are relevant. Take it or leave it mentality.
10) Seek professional help:
Even after all of this you are not able to practice being unbothered. I think a therapist is the best solution for you.
P.S. :Ladies, this is what I mean when I say leverage the fuck out of your connections and opportunities. This is how you turn a negative into a positive.
Plus I am petty enough to not let this disrespect slide but thought it would be a good content idea for my posts, isn't it??
That's all for today's show on ash-says. Stay tuned for more illegal tricks and explosive opinions.

Spirit Work: Connecting to Spirits through Food
We've all got to eat. I'm a huge proponent of casual, every day spirit work and devotions. In my post about Hanging Out, I briefly mentioned sitting down for a meal with your chosen spirit(s) to bond. That concept goes beyond just eating together, of course. There's far more than just eating when it comes to food.
Food as Devotion to Spirits
Food is the heartbeat of culture. Consider where your ancestors came from.
If you talk to folk practitioners, especially ones who do spirit work with ancestors, they'll tell you about all the things they've learned about their culture, their history, their people, and where their beliefs came from. Well, maybe -- folk practitioners are often a secretive bunch, and for good reason. Our practices are highly personal, constructed from local and family beliefs, cultural hand-me-downs, and word of mouth.
Even if you aren't a folk practitioner, there's value in looking to the foods and ingredients that were (or still are) crucial to the culture you come from. Especially if you work with your ancestors, but this can apply to deity and other spirit work, too.
And this doesn't just apply to immigrant US Americans whose families came from Europe, either. Think about where you live now, too. What did your grandparents or great-grandparents like to eat? What dish is your hometown renowned for? What's your country's signature dish?
Research is devotion. The time you spend asking questions or reading about the foods that formed the foundation of your culture's existence is time devoted to the spirits connected to that culture. Even for spirits with whom you have no ancestral ties, like deities from other cultures, researching the foods they were historically offered is valuable.
Taking time to learn how to make a dish and then taking the time to actually make it is a great offering. So long as it's done conscientiously and with purpose, it counts.
When you sit down to eat, dedicate the meal to the spirit(s). Set a place for them at the table and put together a little serving of everything on offer. The contents of the meal don't necessarily matter. Hell, I've set aside a chicken nugget and little pile of french fries for spirits before. Offer the first bite, a taste of whatever the spirit would like. Then, dig in and know that you're sharing a meal with that spirit.
The idea is that learning about, making, sharing, and consuming the foods that have been made for years -- centuries, even, sometimes! -- forges a strong connection. It's all about learning and appreciation.
Food as Connection... to the Living
There are few experiences more powerful than sharing a meal. Cooking for someone, having someone cook for you, going out to eat, going through a drive-thru -- it doesn't matter. People have been gathering to enjoy meals since time immemorial. Food is love, I really do believe that. To consciously choose to share a meal is an act of love.
I'm of the perhaps controversial opinion that the most important spirit work occurs with the living. Living, breathing, human people. We all have spirits, and we nurture ourselves every day. But do we nurture each other?
When we die, we don't really know what happens. There are countless theories on the subject, and I don't plan on revealing mine currently. If you work with spirits, chances are you've got your own thoughts; and even if you don't, you might still have thoughts.
The vast majority of spirit work we see in books and online occurs with the intangible spirit world. Deities, ghosts, Fair Folk, and the like. There's nothing wrong with that, necessarily, but I do think practitioners who don't turn their attention to the living are missing out.
Making connections with the living is critical. My views on spirit work have been massively impacted by interactions with volunteer programs, community outreach programs, and events in my community.
Don't wait until they're dead to respect them. Whoever they are, don't wait.
If it's your family members, ask about their favorite foods. What did their parents make them, and when? What's their go-to secret ingredient? What do they make for the holidays, and why? What traditions do they follow? Why do they make this particular soup on this particular day?
If it's your community leaders -- who can absolutely be your ancestors, too, even if you've never met them in person -- talk to them about where they came from. What did they eat as a child? Where do they like to go when they eat out, and why? Would they share that cookie recipe with you from the last community potluck?
Understanding the living will help you understand the dead. Not only will you form strong, lasting connections to people who care about you in your life, but it'll also strengthen your ties to those who are gone. Spirits of your ancestors will recognize your efforts to learn and preserve the memories of the people in your family and community. Your deities will see you reaching out and learning, and they will appreciate it as devotion to the culture they came from.
You don't need to be a fabulous cook or even cook at all. It all comes down to the effort you're putting in. Learning is enough. Reaching out is enough. The work is enough.
If you like my work, consider tossing a tip in my Ko-Fi tip jar! Support helps me keep making posts like this one consistently.

Destructive Criticism in the SSO Community
I have noticed the increasing amount of destructive criticism in the SSO community since the character update. It is clear the majority of the player base does not understand what constructive criticism is, and how it is harmful.
A quote from an article on thriveworks.com
“...constructive criticism uplifts, offers suggestions, and even provides possible solutions, destructive criticism is cutting, derogatory, and sometimes even mocks our failures.”
Everybody believes that Star Stable Online is a huge company, and that they should be held accountable for their poor management of the game. However, destructive criticism insults the recipient and offers no solutions for improvement. No matter how large a company may be, this type of criticism is unhelpful and overall unnecessary.
More importantly in regards to the character update, by insulting the larger body types and particular facial features (ie. hooked noses, large lips) whether directly or indirectly is an outright attack on real people that have those characteristics. It has gotten to the point where people are being bullied over their CHARACTER’S APPEARANCE both in and outside of the game.
If you love this game so much but consistently attack the team at every opportunity, do you really love it at all?
I am an older player. I have been playing Star Stable since 2013. The character update is LONG overdue, and I am happy to see how much care and consideration they put into it. It is clear they wanted to be inclusive and provide a diverse range of options. It is a shame the player base had such a vile reaction. That is not denying the fact that there are issues.
Now, I am no video game designer BUT I do know a thing or two about website design and I know from experience that code never just works. At this point bugs are expected especially with such a large and important update.
Opinions are NOT constructive criticism. Personal opinions on the body types have no real value especially when y’all know good and well they said they would add more. Some players to simply call the characters “ugly” and not explain further because they don’t have a reason.
Artists that are familiar with the basic elements and principals of design understand the new characters are not poorly designed. The original character models were not badly designed either for that matter. They were simply outdated.
With that said let me address some of the complaints that have nothing to do with the design aspects of the characters:
Addressing Common Complaints:
The characters are too big? No. They aren’t. You are just accustomed to looking at a toothpick. The models have been scaled up to better suit the environment. You will get used to it.
The characters are too fat? Well it’s a good thing pixels weigh absolutely nothing.
There aren’t any skinny options. I want curves. COPE. There will be more body types released later, and if that really bothers you I think you should get a life and find something else to worry about.
I don’t like the giant facial features and hooked noses. They aren’t FOR YOU. Pick a face that doesn’t have them. There will be more added later.
Why couldn’t they just release it all the first time? It was stated in the news/blog they have to release it in small portions so not to overwhelm the toasters that some of y’all play on. Also this update has been highly anticipated and in this day and age of Tik Tok kids are too impatient to wait another year.
The animations are bad. They are far more realistic and natural than the original. See no.1
These complaints are all opinion based and have no valuable feedback. Constructive criticism looks at both the good and bad. Yes, you can like the new characters, but also not be entirely satisfied with them. In all fairness, they are unfinished (See complaints: no.5)
The overwhelming negativity in this community is going to drag us all to Hell. You simply cannot expect an MMO as old as Star Stable to not change. Look at School of Dragons for example. That game is being shut down because it could not keep up with the advancements or didn’t care to.
In conclusion: I am tired.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I remember seeing a post of yours talking about how you have a degree(?) In creative writing. I just wanted to day that I've always loved writing stories but everyone always puts my stories down, saying they suck. They probably do but that's not the point. Did you face that kind of dismissal of your work from others?
Oh yeah for sure. That’s honestly a pretty common thing for a lot of people, which sucks so bad, but the reality is that it doesn’t matter what those people think…if people that don’t write are putting your stories down, they clearly don’t know the effort it takes to even write one at all. And if these people are also writers and are dismissing your work, then they’re simply not very good people. Personally I believe that if somebody doesn’t ask for criticism, you shouldn’t give it to them. There’s a difference between being genuinely constructive when appropriate and just being an asshole. I’m sorry people are putting down your work—that’s just a shitty thing to do, and if anything, you deserve encouragement and support! Writing is such a joy and by engaging in it, you are adding art into the world. Your art is valuable despite what those losers think. I know it’s difficult to remember that when all you experience is negativity, but remember that it’s true—you’re an artist, and while you don’t need to prove your worth to the world, it’s still nice to be reminded that you have it. And so I want to say to you: you’re doing wonderful. Keep going.
There are always going to be people who think that the arts are a waste of time, and to that I say: they simply don’t know the beauty of art as a whole and how important it is to the world. Those TV shows and movies you watch? They started out as scripts on a page. Someone had to write those. Those books you love to read? Someone had to write those. That video game dialogue in the games you play? Someone had to write that too. I think a lot of people forget that so much of today’s media starts out as words on a page. Storytelling is everywhere, and you usually have to start out on paper first. I hope the people diminishing your writing can one day dig into their tiny minds and understand that.
What helped me personally was finding a community of likeminded people who I could talk about writing with. This is a bit easier said than done, but searching for people who value the same things as you is oftentimes reassuring. Whether it be digital, like a Discord channel or a Tumblr community, or an in-person thing like a writing group that meets every other week, or even a creative writing class at your local community college, fostering a community where you can all grow together is something that might encourage you a lot! (Again, easier said than done, but you deserve that support!)
And you know what else? Your stories don’t suck! The fact that you put your time and effort into creating something from nothing? How could that suck! That’s beautiful! Yes, with more practice you can become better and better, but you can also appreciate the skills you have now—because chances are you’re better than you were a year or even a couple months ago. The fact that you’re writing at all is something to be proud of. There’s no such thing as “bad” writing—the only “bad” writing is the ones that go unwritten. You’re a wonderful artist with so much to say, and so you should say it. Give yourself grace and allow yourself to be proud of you for getting this far at all despite what other people say. Having the bravery to write is already enough.

Sociopaths across the globe finding posters of these kidnapped children. Babies, Holocaust survivors and tearing them down. I saw, they were all over the upper east side, the same posters of the 8-year-old girl, the 9-month-old baby, and someone had literally gone to the trouble of printing it out with the word "occupier" under it, if you would believe that.
And let me explain to you exactly why this is happening. These people have woke mind-virus.
In the woke mindset, there's no difference between right versus wrong. They see the world only through the lens of powerful versus powerless, and then they superimpose race onto that.
So, anybody who is a "person of color" has less power and thus is inherently virtuous, no matter what they do, and anybody who they perceive as a "white" person is inherently morally compromised and an oppressor and has no virtue and is evil.
And they code Jews and Israel as "white." And just like all white people, there's no such thing as an innocent white person or an innocent Jew to these woke people.
And so what they do is, when there's evidence of a Jewish victim, what could be more pure and innocent than a 9-month-old baby, they literally have to destroy the evidence because it destroys their mindset, their worldview.
And let me just tell you one more thing. You know, there's a lot of people walking around saying the Jewish people are shaking, the Jewish people are scared. We're not scared. We are livid. And if these sociopaths think we're going to cede this great nation to them, they're in for a big surprise.
--
"Another aspect of the construction of whiteness is the way certain groups have moved into or out of that race. For example, early in our history Irish, Jews, and Italians were considered nonwhite—that is, on a par with African Americans. Over time, they earned the prerogatives and social standing of whites by a process that included joining labor unions, swearing fealty to the Democratic Party, and acquiring wealth, sometimes by illegal or underground means. Whiteness, it turns out, is not only valuable; it is shifting and malleable." -- "Critical Race Theory, An Introduction" (Third Edition), by Delgado and Stefancic

The Role of the Moslem Woman: Article Seventeen: The Moslem woman has a role no less important than that of the Moslem man in the battle of liberation. She is the maker of men. Her role in guiding and educating the new generations is great. The enemies have realised the importance of her role. They consider that if they are able to direct and bring her up the way they wish, far from Islam, they would have won the battle. That is why you find them giving these attempts constant attention through information campaigns, films, and the school curriculum, using for that purpose their lackeys who are infiltrated through Zionist organizations under various names and shapes, such as Freemasons, Rotary Clubs, espionage groups and others, which are all nothing more than cells of subversion and saboteurs. These organizations have ample resources that enable them to play their role in societies for the purpose of achieving the Zionist targets and to deepen the concepts that would serve the enemy. These organizations operate in the absence of Islam and its estrangement among its people. The Islamic peoples should perform their role in confronting the conspiracies of these saboteurs. The day Islam is in control of guiding the affairs of life, these organizations, hostile to humanity and Islam, will be obliterated. -- Hamas Covenant 1988
Critical Race Theory and Hamas both echo the same "Jews control the world" conspiracy theories as the far-right.

Why do you insist on coddling fanfiction writers? Shouldn't we welcome constructive criticism so that we may improve? As a writer, I can't think of anything worse than resting my laurels on mediocre writing and developing hubris because everyone was too afraid to tell me how bad my fic really was.
I'm assuming this ask was prompted by the two posts I reblogged about fanfiction recently.
The first states that fanfic writers are working on their own projects. A reviewer telling them to write what they want to see isn't concrit. Unless the writer indicated that they aren't sure where to take the story and are looking for input, then telling a writer what to put in their fic is an attempt to have someone make content for you for free. If a reader wants specific content, they must write it, commission it, or seek out someone who is looking for prompts.
The second states that if you don't like a fic, then you shouldn't read it. The implication is that you should leave rather than leave a nasty review, but personally, I mostly take it as, "hey babe, your free time is precious, don't spend it on stuff you don't like." Again, this isn't about concrit. It's a warning against wasting your own time as a reader. Maybe the internet has always been this way, but there seem to be folks who engage in fandom by... Seeking out the exact opposite of what they like and then raging about it. In my opinion, this hurts everyone. Again, nothing here relates to concrit.
I'd say most writers like concrit, but concrit implies that the reader understood the work, possesses analytical skill, and cares about it enough to want to help the writer improve. If a reader cared about the fic, they wouldn't tell the writer to redo the work with their own preferences (ie, the reader's fave ships, tropes, whatever) (see the first above). At that point, what the reader wants is a different fic (see the second above), not to help this writer make their fic stronger. And if a reader dislikes the fic, its subject matter, whatever, then why would they waste their time giving concrit? They're just having a bad time and will probably not be able to provide concrit in good faith (see the second above).
If you're seeking concrit of your ask, and please do forgive me if you aren't, I'd gently suggest reading the original posts I reblogged more carefully. They make no mention of concrit. Also, they are not about coddling anyone, or even being kind. They're about readers using their most valuable resource- their time- more wisely, and also valuing the time of writers.
If you want concrit of your work, please indicate such in your fic, and also join a writing group. Most folks online don't have the free time or training to provide meaningful concrit, which will center on actual writing issues (pacing, management of exposition, cohesiveness of the narrative, etc). If someone is listing the ships and tropes they like and want to see in your fic in a review, that's not concrit. If someone is insulting your fic, that's not concrit. I'm sorry if you have accepted these things as concrit in the past. You deserve better- but also, you likely aren't going to find it for free, unless you have the incredible fortune of attracting a reader who loves your fic, has enough free time to engage deeply, and has some training in reviewing writing.
Meaningful concrit is a give and take thing. Expecting it for free is... A bit of an ask (although it does happen! I see you, review angels). So join a writing group that provides it, and give back in turn. Please don't hoist that expectation onto internet strangers. This kind of work is how you avoid resting on your laurels.
Oh, also, if you're looking for people to "tell you how bad your fic really was," there's... Probably a subreddit for that, assuming it hasn't imploded over the last few days. But again, "this fic is bad," is not concrit. That's... just an insult. If you want that, hey, go for it! But oh my goodness, please don't expect other people to want it in general. They don't. They really, really don't.
Best of luck to you on your writing journey.

So You Want to be a Beta Reader
Before we continue on… if there is anything you take away from this post, it should be the following; If you’re going to be someone’s beta reader, put some passion in to the work. No matter how big or small the project is. Sprinkle love on top. Put in good quality work. Make a positive bond with the writer. The writer put in some serious work to get the chapters written. There isn’t a better feeling than when a beta reader is serious about what they’re doing. Beta readers should be a secure foundation and a source of strength and motivation for the writer. If you aren’t willing to provide that, don’t provide your service. You are part beta reader, part support system. What you do and the work you put into the project will make a difference to the writer and their project. Make sure it counts.
Now, onto business! Beta business!
As a beta reader...
Ask and listen to what the writer wants. They will likely write out a list of questions for you to answer as you read. Don’t be afraid to look at that list and ask additional questions. Delve deep and find exactly what kind of feedback are they looking for. Take notes, even if they wrote down what they want from you. Are they looking for grammar mistakes? Yes? No? Mark that down. Do they want you to simply read though it and give your overall opinion? Are they looking for problems with the story structure? Focus on what they are asking for you to look for and do. Have a thorough understanding of what they want from you before you read a single word. How do they want the feedback? Written on the document? Over a call? Have a discussion with the writer and leave that conversation with a clear understanding of what to do.
You have talents as a reader.
Reading seems like such a simple thing to do, but there are things you pick up on more than other readers. You may find inconsistencies more often than others. You may weed out plot holes like nobody’s business. You could be the grammar police. Maybe you’re more in tune with how stories make you feel. Let the writer know what your strengths are before you get to work on the project.
Know the craft
Authors look for beta readers that know writing as a craft. I’ve had several tell me that is what they are looking for. No, you don’t have to know everything, but it is very good to familiarize yourself with what writing is as a craft. You probably already know it through reading and writing. The writer has a story to tell, and they will tell it using the elements of craft. As a reader, understanding things like foreshadowing, tone, style, plot, and characterization will make your feedback even more valuable to the writer. Learn the structure and inner workings of storytelling. The writer you’re reading for will find you to be a credible and valuable beta reader.
Work on projects that interest you
Read in a genre you enjoy and are familiar with. There is nothing worse than reading something you don’t enjoy. Your feedback will likely be less than helpful as a result. Do yourself and the writer a favor. Only beta read for genres you enjoy and are familiar with.
Respect the writer’s style.
This is what makes them unique. It’s like their fingerprint in the form of words on a page. Their style is their own. However, if their style is too distracting or takes you out of the story should you let them know. Other readers will likely pick up on it as well. Their style will develop over time and with outside constructive, respectful criticism. Look at their style objectively, not personally.
Give constructive criticism. And be honest.
The only way to tackle what needs work is to face it head on. Being honest and giving constructive criticism will only benefit you and the writer. Lying to them will set them up for failure. Lying to them does not help them grow and develop their craft. Lying does not help them.
Look at the piece objectively. Don’t put your too much of your personal feelings into your feedback unless they want to know how you feel about something in the project. As a beta reader, you are half reader, half editor. Be professional. Don’t just tell them something didn’t work. Explain why you think something doesn’t work. Give them ideas and suggestions on what could work instead. Don’t just leave it up to them with a “this isn’t working”. Talk it out if you can’t quite explain why. Writing and going over it all with a fine-tooth comb is overwhelming. Editing is overwhelming. Help a writer out. Have an explanation for everything you take a note on or highlight, whether it is something that needs changed or not.
It may sound like I’m repeating myself. I am. Give detailed critiques. There’s nothing worse than just a vague statement as feedback. Ask questions. Give suggestions. Highlight or comment on the trouble spot. Explain yourself.
Being on the receiving end of criticism can be uncomfortable and a source of anxiety and insecurity for a writer. Their personal work is being evaluated and judged, and most likely things are going to need changed. It’s inevitable. They’re trusting your beta reading judgement and they’re trusting that you are there to help improve their work. Consider that while putting your feedback together.
When you give your feedback, mix in praise and criticism. Better yet, ask them how they like to receive criticism and be sure to respect it. Encourage the writer. Encouragement will carry them through the project. Highlight and take note of what works. Is there a line of dialogue that really packed a punch or was poignant? Let them know. Did they write someone’s body language well? Tell them what works. What made you feel emotion, what sucked you into the story, which character is the most interesting to you. Valid are things that need changed, but so too are the things that work. Don’t give what needs changed all the emphasis. Showcase what works. Show the writer what they got just right. Show them that they’re on the right track. Even something as simple as getting into a discussion of your favorite character in the story so far will encourage them. Praising what is working is so important.
Things to closely examine:
Plot
Think about the structure of the plot and look for plot holes. Again, take notes. If anything is contradictory or doesn’t make sense, you can go back to your notes. Highlight plot points and where the story progresses. Ask the writer questions about the plots. Ask to see an outline or a map of the main plot points if they made one. If anything goes against the outline or any notes/maps provided, those differences can be evaluated, discussed, and the story can be adjusted accordingly.
Pace
Make sure to pay close attention to the pace. Does the story needs to pick up or slow down? Is the pace appropriate for what is going on? What kind of pace is the writer going for, and is it reflecting what they are trying to achieve? Are there any scenes or chapters that drag out the story? Are they necessary or can they be cut out or adjusted to be more effective?
Scene
Think about how the scene looks in your mind. Is there too little description? Too much? Are they telling too much and not showing? Mark down the points where you were sucked in, and where you skimmed through description.
Consistency/Inconsistency
As a beta reader, you need to keep track of what is happening in the story and to make sure everything is consistent. Sometimes details fall through the cracks as a writer. They need the second, third, sometimes fifth pair of eyes to make sure everything is in place for the story. Again, this is where having an outline may come in handy for broader topics. Look for little consistencies too. If there is an injury, is it on the right hand in one scene and then on the leg in another? Do specific, important colors change? (Are shirt colors changing like an old Scooby-Doo animation?) The spelling of a name?
Characters
Are the characters acting accordingly to their personalities and traits? Do they maintain accents during their dialogue? Keep their character arch in mind as the story goes on, and make notes of how their stories progress. After a personal turning point for a character, do they act differently? Make note of fine details and follow each character. Do the side characters serve their purposes? Is anyone unnecessary to the story and should be cut out?
Time
Make sure you have time to beta read. If the writer requests that you get a certain job done by a specific date, strive to get the work done on time. Work with the writer to work out the details and look at your schedule with a realistic eye. Are you able to put in good work in the amount of time you have? Will adding this kind of work to your schedule put you behind in everything else you need to focus on? Is the writer flexible? Are you getting paid to do this by a certain time? Depending on how big or serious the project is, it could take a long time. Know what you’re getting yourself into. If you’re not in for the long haul of an entire book that is going to be published, don’t beta read for them unless you intend to really put in some work and have the time to dedicate to the project.

Aight, mates. I am truly pleased to see many of you still remained with me after that incident revealed mun's not the type that pleases with sweet lies, but rather the one that wants to open yer eyes with harsh truth.
In the context of this blog, what does it mean? It means, I will not erase known history(which, adam 'n eve me, is already erased in many points as power shifts took place) or play Tarhos as someone he couldn't possibly be. Yes, I might agree on certain points with the philosophy of this character, but I am okay when people disagree with me or we have an actual discussion. Consider this not as a threat, act of offense or something, but, truly, as a controversial character in literature who gives light from another angle on certain things. Again, even if you read, disagree and figure out, why, in yer 'ead, if I knew it, I'd be happy, because my character invoked yer critical thinking. Think about it, me china plates)
And you, hater blokie) Despite all, you are still welcome to DM me or send a direct ask, if yer willing to discuss it on public. See, I've nothing to hide from the world and I'm always ready to face consequences of my words and actions. When I say it, I usually mean it. Sometimes I lie, sometimes I'm emotional, but in general, you got it. I don't have any idea who you are and why were you so concerned and upset about bits of accurate history here, but have enough courage to say it in my face and be constructive, mate. After all, you were preaching empathy and tolerance, so you should have an idea of what respect and real freedom of speech are. I am still writing tons of text, giving it meaning, to reach out for you and eliminate the misunderstanding we had. Please, prove me wrong at least once and be a conscientious human being. I'd be happy to be wrong in that case.
As for me other china plates, I really cherish and respect y'all) Thank you for all yer support, and so this blog will survive for more. Tomorrow I will continue answering all yer rp asks, and, as long as certain amount of ya left me, I'd have to come up with more ideas to raise activity. Maybe, a crossover or asking me princess and righteous fire lord (insert c-word we Aussies love to call our friends with but the other think impropriate) to play someone cool from dbd verse would do.
Have a pleasant day and remember that truth and critical thinking are more valuable than any delusions. Yours faithfully, mun Ezekiel =)

4G PTZ Wireless Camera for Remote Monitoring
Meet the technological marvel that is the 4G PTZ Wireless Camera; it is all that remote monitoring systems should have. Thanks to its sophisticated technology and unmatched versatility, this security camera enables its users to monitor their assets from almost any location. Whether it is a person who wishes for security over their home or a business owner seeking to protect their valuables, the range offered by a 4G PTZ camera is nothing short of jaw-dropping. First, let’s consider why these cameras are flat out different than the rest and how immediately they can enhance your security systems.
What is a 4G PTZ Wireless Camera?
A 4G PTZ Wireless Camera is a sophisticated security gadget specially made for use in remote surveillance. The “PTZ” represents Pan, Tilt, and Zoom, which allows the user to control the position of the camera from a distance. This provides a unique feature that allows for an entire area to be monitored more effectively since a large space can be viewed.
Because of the 4G capabilities, these cameras do not require the use of Wi-Fi or even wire connections to stream their video feeds. All that is required is a cell network in order to view live streams through mobile applications or web browsers.
These cameras can be referred to as all-purpose tools, with us having the option of night vision, motion alerts, and HD recording. Also, because they are wireless, we can install them in different places without worrying about intricate wiring systems. And whether being placed on walls or outside, the cameras cater well to contemporary requirements for security because of their versatility and ease of use.
Reasons for Utilizing a 4G PTZ Wireless Camera for Remote Viewing
What a 4G PTZ wireless camera gives that no other competitor can is remote monitoring at times. Because of 4G connectivity, it allows you to pull video from any part of the world without having to be in that specific location. This is particularly advantageous to both businesses and homeowners that wish to monitor their properties without necessarily being on site.
Because of the pan-tilt-zoom functions, users can scan various angles and zoom on selected parts of interest with ease, making surveillance tasks even easier. For instance, this is important when monitoring one’s backyard or when supervising construction work, as the scope of surveillance makes it possible to catch strange behavior easily.
The other main benefit is the absence of wiring. Wireless networks, in general, shorten installation time and eliminate the expenses connected with the typical construction of security systems.
Our battery backup options will keep your security intact even when there is a power cut and provide peace of mind when it is needed the most. All these features combined enhance your capability to supervise areas of importance.
How to Choose the Right 4G PTZ Wireless Camera for Your Needs
For choosing the proper 4G PTZ wireless camera, you have to know how to approach its selection. The first step is to think about your monitoring needs. Identify the places that need surveillance and the specific situations that you want to address.
Then, focus on resolution. There is a need for high resolution to get good images, and this is especially important in critical situations where one needs to see a face up close or some details.
Other options that are essential include connectivity options. It is important to check that the camera has reliable 4G connectivity so that there are no interruptions when the camera is being viewed.
Do not forget about pan-tilt-zoom capabilities. The movement range of the camera should be as per your requirement so that you get more coverage area.
Look for other features like night vision and motion detection alerts. These can prove to be a vital extension of the security system and can give peace of mind while away from home or premises of business.
Installation and Configuration of the 4G PTZ Wireless Camera
4G PTZ wireless camera configuration is not complicated. The first step is unpacking each of the components and performing a quick examination. Make sure that the supplied polyphone, along with the power adapter, mounting screws, and user manual, is present.
Now, find a good mounting point for the camera. Such a point should be within the reach of the 4G network and should be positioned in a way to cover the maximum area. After the point is located, the camera should be securely fixed in that position to get wider coverage.
After the camera is installed in its position, it is now time to connect it to a source of power. The next step is to download the app or software you need to use for controlling the device, like the one mentioned in the user manual.
In these steps, post-installation inputs, it seems necessary to deal with network configuration as well. If possible, connect the camera using Wi-Fi, and if it is, connect using your mobile data. Fill in any prompts as necessary to facilitate the smooth running of applications.
Through the app, you should also be able to control pan tilt zoom functions to make sure your surveillance area is well covered. Once all devices are installed and their settings configured, test all the devices to verify that everything is properly working.
Possible Recommendations in Remote Monitoring with 4G PTZ Wireless Cameras
When using the 4G PTZ wireless camera for remote viewing purposes, make sure that you have a sound plan in place that will enhance its usage. Pinpoint areas that require frequent monitoring and modulate the range of your camera's sweep to its maximum.
Always perform firmware updates; security features remain included on the latest editions. This will further mitigate any vulnerabilities that could damage your surveillance system.
Do not overdo it by using motion detection options. Even small areas should be avoided in setting parameters that would alert you. In that way, alerts should prompt responses to legitimate threats.
Also, think about options that allow footage storage in the cloud. This means that any event may be reviewed at any time from any place, eliminating the need to rely on local storage.
Some of the communities and forums devoted to security cameras and their related devices should be explored. This gives an opportunity to understand issues more clearly and on how to resolve them.
Proper Use Cases of 4
Proper Use Cases of 4G PTZ Wireless Camera System
The 4G PTZ wireless cameras have found numerous applications in homes and businesses where there are remote surveillance needs. One of the best examples is a construction company that used them to monitor different job sites in the city. By having constant access to the live video feeds on their mobile phones, they were able to spot safety concerns or project delays and errors.
One more interesting case comes from a wildlife conservation organization utilizing reconnaissance from remote areas equipped with 4G PTZ cameras. The presence of such equipment helped them obtain an array of information with the least possible effect on the normal behavioral patterns of the animals being studied. This was essential because there was a need to zoom in and observe movements for the causes of research.
These security solutions have also been effective for residential users. In a noticed rise in thefts in their neighborhood, a family residing in the countryside decided to install a 4G PTZ camera outside their home. They not only scared off would-be burglars but were also able to monitor delivery packages to ensure that everything was intact by the time it got to their house.
These cases illustrate the efficiency and adaptability of the 4G ptz technology usage in various areas, be it in managing businesses, conserving wildlife, or in home security installation. With the increased understanding of the benefits of this innovation, there is no doubt that more people will continue using it, and it will transform the way people view such monitoring and surveillance solutions in the future.

How to Choose the Right Demolition Contractor for Your London Project
When it comes to construction projects in London, the importance of choosing the right demolition contractor cannot be overstated. Whether you're renovating a historic building or clearing space for new development, the process can be daunting. With so many contractors vying for your attention, how do you know who will get the job done safely and efficiently? Making an informed choice is crucial—not just for your project’s timeline but also for ensuring compliance with local regulations and safety standards. Let’s explore what factors to consider when selecting demolition contractors in London and how to avoid potential pitfalls along the way. Your next big project deserves nothing less than expertise and reliability!
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Demolition Contractor in London
When selecting a Demolition Contractors London contractor in London, experience is paramount. Look for companies with a proven track record in similar projects. Their portfolio can provide insight into their capabilities. Next, consider licensing and insurance. Ensure the contractor holds the necessary permits to operate within your area. This protects you from liability if accidents occur during the demolition process. Another critical factor is safety practices. A reputable contractor will prioritize safety protocols and have measures in place to protect workers and surrounding properties. Additionally, communication matters significantly. Choose someone who listens to your needs, answers questions promptly, and keeps you updated throughout the project. Don’t overlook reviews and references. Feedback from past clients offers valuable perspectives on reliability and quality of work that can inform your decision-making process.
Red Flags to Watch Out for When Choosing a Demolition Contractor
When selecting a demolition contractor, being vigilant is key. One major red flag is a lack of proper licensing and insurance. Verify these credentials before moving forward. Another warning sign is an unusually low estimate. If the bid seems too good to be true, it often means corners will be cut or hidden costs may arise later. Pay attention to their communication style as well. Contractors who are unresponsive or vague about their processes might not have your best interests in mind. A poor online reputation can also indicate trouble ahead. Check reviews and ratings on trusted platforms for insights into past projects. If they pressure you into making quick decisions, take a step back. A reliable contractor values transparency and will encourage careful consideration of your options before proceeding.
Best Practices for Working with Your Chosen Demolition Contractor
When you’ve selected the right demolition contractor in London, establishing a solid working relationship is key. Clear communication lays the foundation for successful collaboration. Discuss your project’s timeline, budget, and specific requirements openly. Make sure all agreements are documented. Contracts should detail everything from timelines to safety protocols and payment schedules. Written agreements protect both parties and help minimize misunderstandings later. Be prepared for changes during the project. Demolition can reveal unexpected challenges that may require adjustments to plans or budgets. A good contractor will keep you informed and suggest solutions quickly. Don’t hesitate to provide feedback throughout the process. Positive reinforcement encourages continued excellence while constructive criticism helps improve performance if needed. Working effectively with your chosen demolition contractor ensures a smoother project execution, leading to successful outcomes every time.

Introduction:
In today’s fast-paced world, the pressure to succeed can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially for young students navigating the challenges of school and social life. As parents, we want nothing more than to see our children thrive and flourish, but we also recognize the importance of nurturing their confidence and self-esteem along the way. That’s where after-school programs come in. In San Ramon, a thriving community nestled in the heart of California’s East Bay region, a diverse array of after-school programs offers students the opportunity to explore new interests, build valuable skills, and, perhaps most importantly, boost their confidence. In this article, we’ll explore how after-school programs in San Ramon can help your child develop the confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond.
The Importance of Confidence:
Confidence is undeniably a cornerstone of success, acting as the catalyst that propels children forward in their endeavors, enabling them to confront challenges head-on, and approach life with a sense of optimism and resilience. When children possess a strong belief in their capabilities, they are empowered to stretch beyond their comfort zones, embrace new experiences, and pursue their aspirations with unwavering determination.
Beyond academic achievement, confidence permeates every aspect of a child’s life, shaping their interactions, relationships, and overall well-being. With a confident mindset, children are more likely to forge meaningful connections with peers, communicate effectively, and navigate social dynamics with grace and empathy. Moreover, confidence serves as a buffer against life’s inevitable setbacks and disappointments, imbuing children with the resilience to bounce back from adversity and persevere in the face of challenges.
However, confidence is not a trait that materializes overnight; rather, it is cultivated over time through a combination of nurturing, support, and opportunities for growth. It begins with fostering a nurturing environment at home and in educational settings, where children feel valued, respected, and encouraged to explore their interests and talents. By providing constructive feedback, celebrating achievements, and offering guidance during moments of struggle, parents and educators play a pivotal role in nurturing children’s confidence and self-esteem.
How After-School Programs Can Help:
After-school programs serve as invaluable platforms for nurturing confidence in children, offering a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where they can embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. Within these programs, children are encouraged to explore their interests, cultivate their talents, and confront challenges head-on, all under the guidance of caring mentors and instructors.
Regardless of their passions or preferences, there is an after-school program in San Ramon to cater to every child’s unique needs and interests. Meanwhile, music and arts programs offer a creative outlet for expression, allowing children to hone their talents, unleash their creativity, and gain recognition for their artistic endeavors.
For those inclined towards scientific inquiry and innovation, STEM programs offer hands-on experiences that foster curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, empowering children to tackle real-world challenges with confidence and ingenuity. Similarly, academic enrichment programs provide a supportive environment for children to excel academically, offering tutoring, homework assistance, and enrichment activities that bolster their confidence in their academic abilities.
Moreover, after-school programs in San Ramon go beyond simply honing specific skills; they also provide opportunities for children to develop valuable life skills such as leadership, communication, and resilience. Through collaborative projects, team-building activities, and community service initiatives, children learn to navigate social dynamics, communicate effectively, and persevere in the face of adversity, all of which contribute to a strong sense of self-assurance and resilience.
Exploring Interests:
After-school programs serve as dynamic playgrounds of exploration, where children are encouraged to venture beyond their comfort zones, discover new passions, and unlock hidden talents in a nurturing and low-pressure environment. These programs offer a diverse array of activities and experiences, providing children with the opportunity to delve into realms they may have never before considered.
One of the most profound benefits of after-school programs is the freedom they afford children to explore their interests without the constraints of traditional academic settings. In these programs, children are empowered to try out different activities, experiment with new skills, and push their boundaries in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. Whether it’s dribbling a soccer ball down the field, tickling the ivories of a piano, or wielding a paintbrush to create a masterpiece on canvas, every endeavor represents an opportunity for growth, learning, and self-discovery.
Moreover, the sense of accomplishment that accompanies each small success serves as a powerful catalyst for building confidence and self-esteem. Whether a child scores their first goal in soccer, successfully performs a challenging piece on the piano, or receives praise for their artistic creation, these moments of triumph instill a profound sense of pride and validation. With each milestone reached and obstacle overcome, children gain confidence in their abilities, bolstering their self-esteem and fueling their desire to continue exploring and excelling in their chosen pursuits.
Building Skills:
After-school programs serve as invaluable platforms for children to expand their skill sets beyond the confines of the traditional classroom, providing hands-on experiences that cultivate a diverse array of essential life skills. Whether it’s fostering teamwork on the soccer field, demonstrating leadership in a group project, solving complex problems in a STEM workshop, or effectively communicating ideas in an art class, these programs offer dynamic opportunities for children to develop the skills they need to thrive in both academic and real-world settings.
One of the primary benefits of after-school programs is their ability to nurture teamwork and collaboration skills. Through collaborative projects, group activities, and team sports, children learn to work cooperatively with their peers, share ideas, and leverage each other’s strengths to achieve common goals. By navigating group dynamics and contributing to shared objectives, children develop a deep appreciation for collaboration and teamwork, essential skills that are invaluable in both academic and professional contexts.
Similarly, after-school programs provide fertile ground for developing leadership skills, as children are encouraged to take on roles of responsibility, guide their peers, and inspire others to action. Whether it’s leading a team on the basketball court, organizing a community service project, or directing a musical performance, children learn to communicate effectively, make decisions, and motivate others, laying the groundwork for future leadership roles and responsibilities.
Moreover, after-school programs offer rich opportunities for honing problem-solving abilities, as children are presented with challenges and obstacles that require creative thinking and innovative solutions. Whether it’s designing and building a structure in a STEM workshop, troubleshooting technical issues in a computer programming class, or devising strategies to overcome opponents in a chess match, children learn to think critically, analyze problems, and develop solutions, skills that are essential for success in both academic and real-world contexts.
Fostering Relationships:
Another invaluable facet of after-school programs lies in their capacity to foster meaningful relationships among children and between students and mentors. Through engaging in group activities, collaborative projects, and shared experiences, children are afforded the opportunity to develop essential social skills that are foundational to their personal and interpersonal growth.
Participating in group activities within after-school programs offers children a rich tapestry of social interactions, providing fertile ground for learning vital skills such as cooperation, empathy, and conflict resolution. As they navigate collaborative endeavors alongside their peers, children learn to communicate effectively, compromise, and work harmoniously towards common goals. These experiences not only cultivate a deeper understanding of social dynamics but also instill empathy and compassion as children learn to consider the perspectives and feelings of others.
Moreover, after-school programs provide a nurturing environment where children can form genuine connections and forge lasting bonds with their peers and mentors. Through shared experiences, mutual interests, and common goals, children develop a sense of belonging and camaraderie, finding comfort and support in the company of like-minded individuals. These connections serve as pillars of support, offering encouragement, validation, and friendship as children navigate the challenges and triumphs of their academic and personal lives.
Furthermore, the presence of caring and supportive adults within after-school programs plays a pivotal role in children’s social and emotional development. Mentors and instructors offer guidance, encouragement, and wisdom, serving as positive role models and sources of inspiration for children.
Whether offering words of encouragement, providing constructive feedback, or simply lending a listening ear, these adults play an instrumental role in nurturing children’s self-confidence, resilience, and sense of self-worth.

"I want to make sure your audience understands the depravity of what happened yesterday. So, after committing the worst atrocities against Jews since the Holocaust, the organization that was involved in dismembering children alive in front of their parents sent out a memo to the American press corps, 10 days later, in which they said Israel had killed 500 Palestinians by bombing a hospital. None of that turned out to be true. Israel did not bomb the hospital, the hospital's still standing, and we don't know how many people were killed, but it certainly wasn't 500. But our press corps, like the stenographers of terrorists that they are, simply repeated this lie. The New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, the BBC, the AP repeated Hamas' lie word for word. Why did they do this? Because they are educated at elite institutions where they get woke mind-virused, they cannot tell right from wrong, they cannot tell truth from falsehood, and they simply lie and lie. Because to them, Israel is the 'oppressor,' and they spent 10 days having to describe atrocities against Jews and they were just desperate to get Israel back into the 'oppressor' position of the bad guy."

"Another aspect of the construction of whiteness is the way certain groups have moved into or out of that race. For example, early in our history Irish, Jews, and Italians were considered nonwhite-that is, on a par with African Americans. Over time, they earned the prerogatives and social standing of whites by a process that included joining labor unions, swearing fealty to the Democratic Party, and acquiring wealth, sometimes by illegal or underground means. Whiteness, it turns out, is not only valuable; it is shifting and malleable." -- "Critical Race Theory, An Introduction," Delgado/Stefancic
This is religion dovetailing with Critical Race Theory in real time.
Omar and Tlaib's excuse is obvious. They're raging antisemites, and Islam wants nothing more than to murder every last Jew.
But what's The New York Time's excuse?
Or the BBC?
Or Reuters, or Associated Press,
or CNN, or The Washington Post?
You know, for being the PR agents for a literal terrorist organization.
The New York Times was so giddy, they published a file photo from a site 25km away to go with the headline.

Love, Theoretically. By Ali Hazelwood. Berkley, 2023.
Rating: 3.5/5 stars
Genre: contemporary romance
Series: N/A
Summary: The many lives of theoretical physicist Elsie Hannaway have finally caught up with her. By day, she’s an adjunct professor, toiling away at grading labs and teaching thermodynamics in the hopes of landing tenure. By other day, Elsie makes up for her non-existent paycheck by offering her services as a fake girlfriend, tapping into her expertly honed people pleasing skills to embody whichever version of herself the client needs.
Honestly, it’s a pretty sweet gig—until her carefully constructed Elsie-verse comes crashing down. Because Jack Smith, the annoyingly attractive and broody older brother of her favorite client, turns out to be the cold-hearted experimental physicist who ruined her mentor’s career and undermined the reputation of theorists everywhere. And that same Jack who now sits on the hiring committee at MIT, right between Elsie and her dream job.
Elsie is prepared for an all-out war of scholarly sabotage but…those long, penetrating looks? Not having to be anything other than her true self when she’s with him? Will falling into an experimentalist’s orbit finally tempt her to put her most guarded theories on love into practice?
***Full review below.***
CONTENT WARNINGS: diabetes attacks and reference to rationing insulin, precarious employment and poverty, sexism, explicit sexual content
OVERVIEW: I'm going to be honest - I did not entirely like the first Ali Hazelwood book I read, which was Bride. But I am aware that paranormal romance isn't Hazelwood's usual genre, so I figured I should give the author a fair shot by reading something more in her wheelhouse. This particular book appealed to me in part because of the academic setting, but I'm not a contemporary romance reader, so it was also a gamble. I also was probably shooting myself in the foot with this one because I'm a former academic and thus biased when it comes to depictions of academia. But in case my perspective is still valuable, I will say that I gave this book 3.5 stars mainly because I can see how some readers will like it - it was just a little too close to something real for me.
WRITING: Hazelwood's prose is fairly quick and clear, which will appeal to a lot of readers looking for something light and breezy. I don't think there's anything wrong with this style; it's fun and engaging. Perfect for the romance genre.
Where the style loses me, however, is when it relies so much on quirky humor that the stakes of the story are deadened. This book is so overrun with quirky humor that, in my view, nothing (or very few things) comes across as sincere. And here is where my bias comes through: because nothing feels sincere, the story makes the struggles of adjuncts seem trite. Things like lack of healthcare, overwork, and rationing insulin become... not quite punchlines, but something easily brushed off. I'm personally not inclined to see those things as cute because I and so many former colleagues have lived that life.
Still, I do think Hazelwood has moments where things are more grounded. The protagonist's diabetic attacks, for example, really hammer home the real stakes of precarious academic employment. While I don't know enough to judge whether or not Elsie is "good representation," I do think Hazelwood was sincere in these moments. I also think the results of the job interview feel weighty and real, though the humor does kick back in fairly quickly.
PLOT: The non-romance plot of this book follows Elsie Hannaway, an adjunct professor in theoretical physics who is offered a job interview at MIT. When she gets to campus, she learns that one of the people on the hiring committee is not only an academic rival, but the brother of a client for Elsie's side hustle: posing as a fake girlfriend.
I think the academic rivals part of this plot came across the strongest. I liked watching Elsie navigate departmental politics and respond to criticisms of her field with grace. I also liked the moments when Elsie spoke about the challenges of being a woman in STEM and her fierce determination to be seen as worthy of a job in a prestigious department.
I even liked the implications of Elsie's side gig as a fake girlfriend. Hazelwood doesn't quite go all the way in making Elsie a sex worker - there's strictly no sex involved. I know this boundary is in part an attempt to make her side gig more "respectable," but I do think there was a missed opportunity to comment or reflect on real-life stories in which teachers have turned to sex work to supplement their income. Instead, the focus isn't entirely on the stigmatization of sex work or how teachers turn to sex work to make ends meet. That would be too heavy, so Hazelwood seems to try to keep things light by focusing on other things, like how the side gig is a comment on Elsie's personal flaws.
A few things really bothered me, however, including the absolute lack of condemnation of the academy and the attitude towards students. Everyone in this book seems to admit how horrible adjuncting is, but the blame is not laid at the feet of academia. Most of the problems can be traced back to one bad academic without much acknowledgement of the adjunctification of higher ed. It feels like precarity is the result of there just not being enough jobs or one bad person ruining careers, and while those things are (or can be) true to a degree, the book ignores the fact that universities themselves are responsible for poor adjunct wages and the lack of Healthcare.
Moreover, the book's attitude towards teaching and undergraduate students was a little uncomfortable for me. Not only is the book peppered with outrageous emails, but undergrads are always portrayed as lazy, avoidant, stupid, etc. On some level, I get it; God knows I've encountered my fair share of students who try their damnedest to avoid work. I even understand academics who prefer researching to teaching and how one can be burnt out after teaching so many intro classes. But by portraying undergrads as a universal headache, it made me think that the book was trying to create a hierarchy between teaching positions and research positions, again putting the blame on anyone other than the institution.
CHARACTERS: Elsie, our heroine, is at her most interesting when she struggles with her flaws. While I admired her speeches and competence on the job market, I was most intrigued when she had to fight against her impulses to people-please. Her personal arc is therefore more compelling than her professional one - at least for me.
Jack, our hero, was enjoyable for his insistence on honesty, and I liked watching him push Elsie's buttons. Part of me wishes Hazelwood had acknowledged his economic privilege more and how that factored into him being an academic, but I also realize a book can't do everything all at once.
Side characters were hit or miss for me, though I did appreciate how some of them (like Cece and George) played a role in Elsie's character arc. In general, though, I struggled with a number of characters because of Hazelwood's style. Elsie and a handful of others come across as somewhat emotionally stunted. The constant quirky humor and quips were overwhelming, and characters who should have been mature professionals appeared childish. I'm not talking about petty academic politics - I know that happens. Rather, it seemed like many characters shared the same brand of Millenial humor, and the blurring of boundaries between friends and colleagues made the whole environment feel... insincere.
TL;DR: Love, Theoretically is memorable for the deft way it handles its protagonist's personal arc, and it does a good job portraying the challenges of speaking up for oneself. The way it portrays academia will be hit or miss for some people, and I admit that I'm too close to the subject to be (relatively) objective in my assessment. But what really sealed my rating was the quirky humor and writing style, which was just not for me.
ROMANCE: The romantic arc of this book can probably be best described as a slow burn academic rivals to lovers. I liked the way Elsie and Jack got to one another, with both of them making assumptions that had to be unlearned and untangled as the plot progressed.
I also really appreciated Jack's insistence on boundaries and consent. Jack insists that Elsie be honest in the relationship and not just say what she thinks he wants to hear. This arc was a nice parallel to her struggle to be honest in other aspects of her life, and I liked the way Jack enriched Elsie's emotional interior.
