bound: Has your OC ever been imprisoned or captured? What happened? How did they get out? Did the experience leave any scars?
break: What would cause your OC to break down completely? What do they look like when that happens? Has anyone ever seen them at their lowest?
hi anna! thanks for the ask!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bound: Has your OC ever been imprisoned or captured? What happened? How did they get out? Did the experience leave any scars?
So, the only OC who has a good answer for this is Rook, and I talked about that here. (If you also look in his tag, most of the most recent posts talk about that time.)
break: What would cause your OC to break down completely? What do they look like when that happens? Has anyone ever seen them at their lowest?
For Kristopher, there's only one choice for this: Losing Fallon. (Particularly to something like an assassination attempt.) Once he has her, he can survive anything else, but not losing her. As for what it would look like, well, I've talked about it in the past, but I can't be bothered to scroll that far, so I'll recap: He either is forced to become king of Anvia, which will be miserable for numerous reasons, or he is forced to return to Oryn, which will be miserable for numerous reasons. Either way, he's probably going to fall back to his pre-Anvia habits (minus the sleeping around this time), spending most of his time trying to numb his pain.

Not-so-nice OC asks:
Sarisa: alone
Lorikeet: nightmare
Alesta: future
Thank you!
Sarisa deals with loneliness by looking for friends, and subconsciously, by looking for (seemingly) kind, wise parental figures to replace her own estranged parents and idolizing them when she finds them. She has been completely alone: after she ran away from home, she was alone for months as she wandered from place to place disguised as a peasant boy, seeking shelter and work wherever she could. She never wants to go through that again. When she's alone, she's mostly very still, thinking and praying. But any secret observer would see more youthful vulnerability in her than they would in the strong, unbending image she tries to present to the world.
Lorikeet is the only character who explicitly has a nightmare at one point in the story. That nightmare is about Alesta, whom she's never met at this point, but has been told is an evil and powerful sorceress. She imagines her as every stereotype of a terrifying witch she's ever heard in fairy tales. Based on this one example, I'd say her nightmares are about any scary thing she doesn't understand – and given her isolated life and lack of education, there are a lot of things she doesn't understand – but knows she'll have to face. Being talkative by nature, she deals with her nightmares by telling people about them. I'm sure she tried to discuss her Alesta nightmare with Sarisa the next morning, but since that night was a sleepless one for Sarisa, she was probably too exhausted and cranky to listen.
Alesta's worst possible future would be one where King Vorteyo succeeds in slaughtering the Sisterhood, re-establishes his former absolute power and tyranny, and wipes out all the good the Sisterhood has done for the kingdom. She knows this is a possibility, because Vorteyo is gathering all the power he possibly can to counteract hers. She takes steps to avoid to avoid it by educating and testing Sarisa and Zeran with the goal of their succeeding her as the Sisterhood's guardians, because as faithful partners they'll be stronger than she is alone. (The few people she's ever loved enough to share her power with are all dead.)

hide; hunt - can i ask these about wifey in the tell them universe?
yes nonny darling of course you can! 💜💜💜
hide: What does your OC hide? Why do they hide it?
Wifey usually hides that Grayson is not Jake's. To her, Jake is Grayson's dad, not the jerk who got her pregnant and then called her a slut. She doesn't want her son, a great and respectful young man, associated with his bio father
hunt: Who or what is your OC hunted by? A person, a feeling, a past mistake? Is your OC able to let their guard down, or are they constantly alert?
When wifey was pregnant with Grayson she constantly felt like the entire state of Texas had it out for her... She was pregnant teenager that wasn't married and then boy she was dating wasn't the biological father. But she felt safe with Jake, his parents, and her parents. But she also is always waiting for the day for Grayson's sperm donor to show up out of nowhere and try to get custody of him, or way worse...

so that oc ask list… ghost and skin, please, whilst I try and exhibit the self-restraint not to say ‘all of them!?!’
ghost: Who or what haunts your OC? What happened? How do they live with their ghosts?
I mean, the answer to the Pieces timeline is clear.
But to answer in general - I think a lot of people haunt the BG3 version of Rosalie. At the point of her agoraphobia, she loves her parents but hasn't seen them in 3 years and they don't know why, she's cut herself of from most of the people once in her life... and the Emperor looks like her ex-girlfriend who she doesn't even love :))))) so there are definitely some unresolved hauntings in her past, that signify the life she disappeared herself from. And in her day to day life, there is the haunting of her previous version of herself - while the tadpole ends in death, without it she becomes what she used to be (or so she believes). I actually didn't do the Omeluum quest in my playthrough for this reason, because although I as the player knew the leads to getting rid of the tadpole were all duds that was the one she thought might actually work (so she avoided it entirely).
skin: How comfortable is your OC in their skin? Do they grapple with anything that lives inside them—a beast, a curse, a failure, a monster? How do they face the smallest, weakest, most horrible version of themself? Are they able to acknowledge it at all?
Rosalie grapples with her failure, as we all know - and that smallest, weakest version of herself is her haunting (and she hasn't acknowledged it, no sir). But in order to stop all of these questions just be me reiterating the same concept and potentially being boring at my end, she's also not that comfortable in her skin. I don't think depression often leaves you with much positive to say about your appearance, even if you are pretty, so I think she's comfortable in her body in so much as it serves her, but everything else is negligible and a non-concern. She does not consider herself attractive and sees her body as a vessel for her mind (given that it has impacted so much of her experience in the last 5 years) - which is very funny, because it truly does mean that her +3 in charisma IS The Tadpole, not her. We love a bitch without anxiety.

I don't want to keep clogging my blog with vent posts but uh... I guess this is a more general concern/observation
But it's getting real hard to stay motivated in fandom spaces when there's little compensation, and annoying occurrences are more frequent than good ones.
Mainly there's been less engagement/people showing interest in creators and their art (such as sending asks, making comments and reblogging with tags) and MORE parasocial interactions. This goes for both artists and writers.
Over this year I've noticed a vast disinterest within my public in general. Asks about ocs, my art, or just nice simple comments of ''I love your art'' has been getting more and more scarce. My follower number is bigger than 2-3 years ago sure and I get more likes on my posts but they are feeling more like just numbers and statistics than actual people who supposedly like my stuff.
And while people being parasocial with creators has always been a thing, I feel like it's gotten way worse... in general? People sending personal pictures out of the blue in hopes of being validated, unwanted psychological advice or assumptions about the creator without any established connection first ( <- these happened to me in the same week.) ventdump, just insensitive/lacking of common sense comments in general, unreasonable demands (mostly with writers)... I wondered at first if it was just me, but a handful of mutuals/acquaintances who are artists and writers seems to be going through it as well.
It's annoying. It's tough. It's getting exhausting. Creators pour so much of themselves into their work—countless hours, effort, and passion, all to share something meaningful or entertaining with others (and for FREE) The LEAST anyone can do is show respect, even if opinions differ. When a writer posts a fanfic, don't just say ''omg post next chapter!'', when an artist posts a drawing of their favorite character, don't just say ''omg draw (character) next!'' as if they're faceless content machines that are expected to churn out more '''content''' for you without acknowledgment, encouragement, or appreciation.
''I want to support creators but I don't know what to say and I feel intimidated by their talent so I just lurk silently :((('' I swear to you, no creator (at least not the majority) is making up an intimidating persona to discourage you from interacting with them. They WANT your comments. A single ''I love your art/writing/videos'' or even something as silly as ''I want to eat your art'' is enough to keep a creator sighing dreamily for WEEKS. It doesn't have to be deep! It's heartfelt and that's what it matters!! (Just remember to keep it relevant and thoughtful... It takes just a bit of common sense NOT to comment things like ''this looks like (another character)'' or ''this but with (another unrelated ship/character/show)''. No one wants to hear comparisons or unrelated ideas when they’ve poured their soul into something.)
In fact, the ''I like your art but I think you're intimidating'' feels more hurtful than flattering. It makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong, acting wrong. 💀
If you love that fanfic that changed your brain psyche forever and want to gush about it, go tell the writer. If you loved so much a piece of art that you saved it a million times in your phone and can't stop thinking about it, go tell the artist. Push away the ''they probably won't care about my comment/it won't make a difference'' thoughts. DO IT NOW. You won't know when they might go inactive forever or deactivate. You can't know if that is the last piece they will ever post. Make sure you show appreciation to creators NOW, while they are still here. While they're still not being replaced by AI.

Pain, mistake, hate, guilty for an OC of your choice!
@bloodlessheirbyjacques 💖
Hi Jacques!! Thanks for the ask!!!
pain: What’s the worst pain your OC has ever felt? Do they have a high pain tolerance?
tw for mentions of torture, physical injury, illness, and gun violence I'd say that my boy Rook has a pretty high pain tolerance? After all, he did endure 2 years of literal torture at the hands of Captain Wolf. That experience makes most battle wounds feel relatively minor to him. As for the worst pain, there's a couple of contenders. One is the stab wound he received from Captain Wolf that ended up getting infected. Not only was the pain from receiving the wound immense, it was in his shoulder area, so any movement of his arm made the pain worse. Also, the infection heightened the pain, and brought along a very high fever, which caused Rook to have some emotionally distressing dreams and hallucinations. (He still has a scar from that wound, which remains permanently discolored by the infection.) The other contender was from last session, actually! It was Rook getting shot in the back once, which knocked him from full HP down to 3 HP. After that he got shot twice more, and had a cart explode right next to him. (He did literally die, actually. After the 2nd and 3rd gunshots.) I'd say that was pretty painful. :)
mistake: What’s the worst mistake your OC ever made? What led to them making it? Have they been able to fix it? How have they moved on?
tw: discussions of an abusive relationship Let's stay with the DnD character theme, actually. The worst mistake Cyra ever made was to start dating Talia, their toxic cult-leader's-daughter ex-girlfriend. It wasn't 100% Cyra's fault, because not only was Talia being manipulative from the very beginning, but also Cyra was in a place where she was desperate for any kind of affection. So I'd say it's not Cyra's fault at all (nor is any abusive relationship the fault of the victim!!!), but it was still a mistake that had a huge impact on her life. Cyra had been living with the Brotherhood for years at this point, and was quite the accomplished fighter. They had begun taking her along on raids, using her to kill and capture other innocents, just like herself and her family. Cyra was at a very low place in their life, being forced to do all that with their own hands. Talia, the daughter of the cult's leader, caught Cyra at a vulnerable moment and comforted her. Seeing as this was the first crumb of affection Cyra had seen in years, she eagerly latched onto it, falling in "love" with Talia. Talia took advantage of this, manipulating Cyra into staying with the Brotherhood, despite her clear distaste for them and their methods. Cyra was under the impression that she could "save" Talia, eventually get her to leave the cult, if only she stayed long enough and loved Talia hard enough. It wasn't until years later that they realized that Talia had no intention of ever leaving. Upon realizing that, Cyra fled on her own, stealing a sand skiff on the way out. Cyra still doesn't fully realize the depths of the abuse she endured while with Talia, and that will be something interesting to work through in-character, as I know for a fact we will be meeting Talia in the campaign before too long has passed...
CONTINUED UNDER THE CUT <3
hate: What does your OC hate? Why? How do they act towards the object of their hatred?
tw for brief mentions of torture and murder, plus panic attacks and alcohol. Keeping with the DnD character theme here, there is nothing or no one that Rook hates more than Captain Wolf. She ruined his life in every way possible. Took him from his first captain, Zara (the only kind person Rook had met in his life so far) and forced him to endure 2 years of torture before he escaped. His hatred for her knows no bounds, and he dreams of killing her with his own hands some day. (Worry not my friends, I am planning my Inigo Montoya revenge moment with him. <3) However, at the same time, Rook is terrified of her. Perhaps even more than he hates her. The first time he saw her after escaping from her grasp, he immediately bolted away from the party and proceeded to hide on the gunslinger's roof, getting drunk so as to avoid dealing with his terror. Were he to see her in person again, I'm not sure how he would act. He's gotten stronger, but he was also just recently literally murdered by one of Wolf's crew members. So the fear is probably still quite strong. But at least he knows his entire party will back him up. That's got to be comforting, right?
guilt: What is your OC guilty about? How do they handle their guilt? Do they try to avoid guilt, or do they accept it?
tw for near-death by poison I was gonna do a non-dnd character for this one, but then I realized that all the other answers are about dnd characters, and no one is probably gonna read this far anyways, so I might as well keep the trend going. Rook feels intense amounts of guilt for nearly killing of his party members. We were in the ruins of a temple, and unbeknownst to the rest of us, our gunslinger had gotten possessed. Just as we were solving the final puzzle in the temple, the possession activated and he attacked us. Rook immediately jumped to the defense of his party members, but the creature possessing the gunslinger ended up switching over to Rook. While possessed, Rook took out some Super Deadly Poison that had been given to him by an enemy (said poison later turned out to have been used to scry on the party for MONTHS, telling our enemies our every move...), and attacked the sorcerer. He very, very, very nearly killed him. He only narrowly survived by advancing the transformation of the curse taking over his body. (Don't worry, that's all fixed now.) Rook felt incredibly guilty and avoided the rest of the party for the next few days. Since we were traveling by boat, he spent all his time at the wheel, and interacted little with any of them. He even slept out on the deck to avoid sharing a cabin with any of them. They told him they didn't blame him, and eventually their actions proved sufficient that Rook believed them. But he still feels guilty and believes that they would be more than justified in hating him for this.

I feel your writing of Rose has offered some pretty excellent insight to everything on the OC Ask List, but I am VERY curious about "monster." I feel "alone" has been touched on quite a bit, but we never SAW what it looked like, only quote-unquote heard about it after the fact. So, "monster" and "alone," pretty please.
monster: Is your OC monstrous in any way? Is there something that makes them monstrous? Are they aware of their own monstrosity? Do they accept it or reject it?
So in D&D lore I know tieflings are perceived as monstrous on account of devil origins, but in my D&D games tieflings are just hot and sexy. That being said, having now dived deep on all the ways that D&D wizards can be SERIOUSLY FUCKED UP I would say that yes, she has the capacity to be monstrous if she gave fully into wizard hubris and divulged herself of her self-restraint. In the Pieces timeline, she is actively aware of it and she has actively chosen to reject it.
(this is a copy and pasted answer from the other people who asked it, not a fun reading experience for those scrolling but useful for those who've asked the same things separately).
alone: How does your OC deal with loneliness? Have they ever been completely alone before? How do they act when there's no one around to see them?
HAHAHAHA.
I mean, yes, you're totally right, I have given insight into this in multiple places! Pre-tadpole Rose deals with loneliness by further self-isolating, until she did in fact feel completely alone (was she ever fully alone? no. she was in a building full of other people. that's the self isolation). Post-tadpole Rose would deal with loneliness by jumping someone's bones bc she has no fear and no anxiety filter and she'd immediately just go after whatever connection she was wanting :')
When no one is around to see them, this is the only way Rose acts in accordance with her true emotions rather than as a people pleaser and the Masking OC (see crying in a cupboard, chapter 1, an honest lie).

Commissioned the amazing @magua-vida to draw my original Princesses, The Dancer & The Dream! I'm absolutely delighted with how they came out, they both look so pretty and bursting with personality!
For anyone who doesn't want to click through, you get the Dancer if you unlock the Princess's cuff & die of a heart attack, making her flighty but concerned, fussing over your health & safety. The Dream is Dancer's unique Chapter 3, who you get if you fall asleep in the cabin with Dancer fussing over you, and is smotheringly protective to the point of aggression & possessiveness while acting manipulatively sweet & fragile.
She just wants to take care of you... even (or especially) if it means chaining you up to keep you safe.
