Final manifestations for Book 7?

I'm trying REALLY hard not to build up any solid expectations, because I wanna go in ~fresh~! they're already so far away from anything I thought would happen (not in a bad way, I'm just accepting that I'm on Miss Yana's Wild Ride at this point and we're seeing this thing through 'til the end, by gum). so it's nothing too major, but:

they've been handing new crying expressions out like candy lately, I want to see some delicious Malleus tears.

honestly I want everyone to cry buckets. their tears sustain me. the more Silver angst specifically I get the happier I am.

just let him have this. the poor boy's been through so much. let him have his big "I'm proud of you, son" moment with Lilia.

I'm 100% expecting Grim's arc (and probably whatever's going on with Crowley) to be its own episode, but a nice hook to leave us hanging on would be good!

The Syd Poll

the topic of this poll is one that is frequently avoided in the pink floyd fandom, but inevitably one we all consider – our individual views on what we think caused syd's psychological struggles (and by extension, led to his departure from the band). I think that – at least in this neighborhood of tumblr – this is a conversation we are capable of having in a way that is civil, nuanced, and at least minimally disrespectful to syd.

So, to help facilitate this, here are some ground rules:

let's all assume we have a mutual understanding of the complexities of this. syd could never actually be reduced down to a poll, and all of our viewpoints are limited in various ways

the poll options just serve as just a conversation starter, and responses are not necessarily a statement of absolute beliefs

feel free to discuss as much or as little of your own perspective as you feel comfortable sharing.

in the case that debates break out, please try to assume good intent – and also demonstrate it (unless, for instance, someone is being blatantly insulting beyond a misunderstanding that needs correcting)

please do NOT vote if you are not actually a pink floyd fan with at least basic knowledge about what we're talking about here.

The options I've included below are not meant to be exhaustive, they are simply the "theories" that I have seen most commonly circulated. I have also decided not to include combinations. I'm fairly sure we'd all agree multiple factors were involved. Rather than make the poll too complicated, I ask you to instead select the one that you think is the "most" important to your viewpoint, and clarify further in your tags/comments as you wish.

I feel like a fool for finalizing realizing this but,

I was never quite satisfied with the explanation given in DGS 2-3 on why Barok took on the prosecution of his close friend.

I don’t think it was ever EXPLICITLY stated and the most we really got is it upheld Albert’s reputation. That Barok did it bc any other prosecutor would paint Albert as a sham right away. Which is a fate worse than death for Albert.

But that never stood right with me bc Barok values finding the truth and justice above all else. He would not do something for the sake of “prolonging” cause he knows it’s pointless. The truth MUST be found so there’s no need to tiptoe around it.

It makes no sense to do it for the sake of Albert’s reputation if finding the absolute truth inevitably leads to Albert’s reputation being ruined. The machine, experiment, and theory, it HAD to all be proven faulty if Albert was to be free. There’s no way it could not. Barok knows this.

What he did in 2-3 seemed like tiptoeing but he was working harder than ever to get to the truth.

The reason why he pushed so hard, the way he continued to give point after point, bring up every inconsistency, bring up even the smallest of possibilities that Albert was guilty, (which honestly sounds like his usual thing. But this time there’s an personal motivation to it)

was entirely so that Ryunosuke could disprove him.

We already knew that Barok trusted Ryuno to handle the defense. That Ryuno also strives for absolute truth. So he threw every little thing at him so that there would be NOTHING left that’d indicate Albert as involved in the murder.

That’s why he took the case. That’s why he was adamant on painting Albert as a murderer.

The way Barok trusted the life of his closest friend to Ryunosuke HE TRUSTED HIM THAT MUCH GOD I LOVE HIS CHARACTER GROWTH SO MUCH-

big mood tbh. i'm also putting wayy too much thought into the casteliacone server n au now. help.

like what if n didn't get to eat casteliacones growing up because ghetsis didn't allow him to. maybe even told him that casteliacones were baby vanillite that humans were KILLING and EATING. (which is also why n has a vanilluxe: he wanted to rescue him from being eaten.)

and then after bw1 he doesn't leave / only for a few months at most before returning. everyone encourages him to reintegrate into society and try living as a regular trainer. bw1 protag (+ cheren and bianca, maybe even anthea + concordia or other former plasma grunts) brings him around unova to experience all the fun stuff he didn't get to before. they buy him a casteliacone and. he just registers again how naive he had been. how much ghetsis had been lying to him about the world being unendingly cruel.

anyway he likes eating casteliacones. so when he sees that the store has a job opening with free cones as an employee perk, and he needs some income besides battling, he just decides to sign up for fun. and then he actually gets the job.

facing customers isn't fun, of course. he gets a lot of questions about his involvement in the whole team plasma thing. one day a kid with fluffy dark blue hair walks up to the stand and decks him in the face, demanding to know where his sister's purrloin is. yelling at him for all the pain team plasma has caused separating people and pokemon. the kid gets dragged away by his childhood friend, who apologises profusely, but his words still linger. he isn't the first customer to do so; he won't be the last.

there are days where n thinks, he'd given up on the life of a king for this. he'd love to shut himself away back in his room, away from all this bustle and anger. but that life was always an illusion; it wasn't real. he doesn't know - doesn't want to process any further, what would've been real in that life, after he became champion.

a king knows his people, serves his people. and it is not atop a throne, alone but for a dragon god, looking down upon the people of unova; but here, selling ice cream at a small stand in the largest city, eye to eye with them, that he gets to do both.

the casteliacones taste sweet in his mouth. he is caged in a job, and yet he is freer than he has ever been.

possibly wild and out of touch take ahead so beware but if the second half of those eight digits is supposedly beato's birthday (yeah, november 29th, i've known it for a long time) and if we haven't been lied about it not being shannon's or kanon's birthday (i'm naming names now)... and if the beato we know as the game master is supposed to have been born for reasons related to battler, then wouldn't her "birthday" be the day of his sin? he sinned and then she was born, which sounds very biblical. and which means that for him to understand what those digits mean he'd have to not only remember that he has a sin, but also the exact day it was committed. i personally think it might have been a lot to ask of a little idiot like battler, but that's another story
