I headcanon kremy as a lightweight. Sure he’s spent his spent his life around booze in the casinos and gamblers dens and what not, but personally he’s always preferred a sensible cigarette over any other kind of substance, and he only drinks very casually or when someone important offers him a toast and it’s rude to say no. It doesn’t take much to get him drunk, and when he is, his carefully constructed suave persona is ruined and he becomes a giddy mess, slurring with an accent so thick that people can’t even tell what he’s saying. Idk idk I just think it’s cute the amount of times he fails the constitution saving throw even when he hasn’t had that much to drink esp compared to the other members

WARDI WRITTEN LANGUAGE (BASICS).

Couya's full name (properly 'Haidamane Couya') written formally and with common handwriting conventions.

The Wardi written language derives from earlier proto-language systems consisting exclusively of logograms without direct phonetic meaning or grammatical structure. These symbols gradually became simplified and abstracted to the point of many having little intrinsic clarity, and combined to communicate abstract concepts.

The development of a full written language did not occur independently (as very few written languages do), and its phonetic elements (namely its use of syllabograms) were largely derived the 'ancient' Burri writing system, gradually synthesized with native writing conventions, and in the contemporary forms a wholly distinct system. The language's Relatively universalized form is a very recent phenomena, developing within the past two centuries with the region's conquering/unification into a single entity.

The contemporary written language is a mixture of logograms and syllabograms. It is read from right to left and arranged in horizontal columns. The most formal variant of this system contains each character within a square outline, usually separated by a small space. This outline confers little phonetic or symbolic information beyond making distinction between syllables exceptionally clear, and can be (and often is) omitted in handwriting. The separation of words is conveyed through a narrow rectangle or line in formal contexts, and again often omitted in handwriting (instead indicated instead by a wider blank space).

The pure logograms that have been retained in this writing system tend to be those of very common words or specific concepts (most logogram characters for types of livestock, key crops, water, major body parts, etc are widely recognized and in common use). There has not yet been any attempts to fully 'formalize' the language and omit potentially unnecessary logograms, and they remain frequently used as shorthand while conveying the same semantic information.

Many of the syllabogram characters are directly derived from logograms that depicted monosyllabic words. For example, the spoken word 'gan' means 'cow', and the character for the syllable 'gan' is identical to the common logogram for 'cow'.

Both ultimately communicate the same meaning, but the former clarifies pronunciation (the words gan and atoche are contracted, it's gantoche and not gan-atoche).

It is a relatively easy written language to learn, as the pure syllabogram characters indicate their own pronunciation with little ambiguity and often have consistency to their construction (ie the character for the syllable 'man' contains most of the same elements as that for the syllable 'wan'- the dot placement in particular has indication of the vowel sounds).

The inclusion of logograms in general and many of the syllabic characters being directly imported From logograms complicates matters. These characters lack visual consistency, and can be confusing to the large swath of the public who know common logograms but not the full written language itself. Ie: the word 'ungande' meaning 'liver' will be composed of logogram-derived syllable characters for 'un' (which alone means 'hand') and 'gan' (which alone means 'cow'). Someone who is only semi-literate in common logograms may be confused at the meaning, especially since these same exact same characters may be used elsewhere on their own to indicate 'hand' or 'cow'.

One major exception to this tendency is that current religious doctrine requires established logogram characters describing God to be used in place of syllabic characters. The word for god is 'Od', and has its own unique character (as do each of the Faces, the capital F 'Face', and Its deified pronoun). The syllable 'od' [oʊd] is very common in the Wardi language, and a wholly separate character is used for the phonetic sound when it is not a reference to the deity (ie 'lion' (odo [oʊdoʊ]) does not contain the same character for God in spite of its first syllable having the exact same pronunciation). Names are a bit of a gray area (ie: the name 'Odabi' is very common and carries the meaning of 'gift/blessing from God'). Religious leadership is currently experiencing a mild schism on whether the written character for God is separated due to being wholly sacrosanct (and thus inappropriate to include in the written form of a personal name) or as more of a functional delineation of the sacred and mundane.

didn’t want to rb this post directly partially bc i see/get the overall point and partially bc i don’t want ppl to be a dick to me if i say shit (n i def do not intend any ire/ill will to op; i am just adding my thoughts)

but anyway. while i again do see the point of the post (not all queer ppl are harmed the same way/amount by the govt & more specifically by the recent Executive Orders), i also with respect think that the assumption that they are only specifically about targeting trans women or protecting cis women from trans women is just untrue (smthn some ppl in the notes are also claiming).

the eo’s have language that is explicitly targeting / inciting violence towards trans women & this is undeniable. everything that mentions “protecting women from men” and keeping “males” out of “women’s spaces” is very deliberately about targeting and harming trans women. there is an entire section of one of the EO’s dedicated specifically to removing “males” (trans women) from women’s prisons, and this is horrific and violent. transfems also suffer from the effects of hypervisbility, making them very easy targets for enforcement of these laws and the language within them. all of that is true.

& also, it’s very untrue that these eo’s aren’t designed to harm other trans ppl and intersex ppl. i’m not even talking generally “oh these orders are about transphobia and so will harm all trans ppl”; there is specific language in them that is violent specifically towards intersex and transmasc ppl (in addition to the language that directly violently targets transfems) (none of which (transfem, transmasc, intersex) are mutually exclusive categories!).

the multiple eo’s concerning trans folks are rife with defining sex strictly as an immutable binary — the “immutable biological reality of sex” —“protecting sex-based distinctions,” (both quotes from the “defending women from gender ideology…” executive order) and deliberately codifying the erasure of any and all acknowledgment of sex outside of male/female is intentional, specific violence towards intersex people. this is deliberate targeting intersex people for violence and oppression (just as other parts of the same EO are deliberately targeting transfems).

there is also the entire EO for “protecting children from chemical and surgical mutilation”, which obviously is directed largely at any gender-affirming trans healthcare as a whole, but also very specifically names protecting against “female genital mutilation” — directly targeting transmascs, and ‘protecting’ cis women and girls from transmascs.

transmascs are very much also viewed as a threat to cis women and cis girls, painted as “corrupting,” “stealing,” and “mutilating” poor innocent young cis girls (or poor innocent cis lesbians, depending on the person wielding this rhetoric). transphobic rhetoric and anti trans laws are rife with this belief, deriding the “mutilation” of their idea of the “pure ideal female body,” the “hacking off healthy tissue” (re: top surgery), “testosterone poisoning” of girls, and the idea that trans men want to turn all young girls trans, want to turn all young lesbians trans — “i was a tomboy and if i were a kid today i would’ve been turned trans! they would’ve made me transition!” (this is also part of the driver of the incredibly high SA rates among transmasc ppl)

this EO is simply a codification of that view of transmascs as a threat to cis womanhood. this EO targets all trans people’s right to our own bodies and bodily autonomy, and this language specifically directly targets transmasc’s rights to their own bodies.

i do think it’s important to discuss that not all queer people are immediately impacted the same way by trump’s bigotry. i also think it’s incredibly disingenuous to ignore the parts of these laws which are deliberately targeting specific subsets of the trans and intersex community (including ignoring the parts that explicitly are about transfems!). all trans and intersex people are intentionally, directly, and explicitly targeted by the government’s bigotry and violence in different ways; none of it is incidental or unintentional. they are “protecting” cis women, or, the white supremacist status quo, from trans & intersex people — most especially nonwhite trans and intersex ppl.

When people are like Wei Wuxian was NOT suicidal it’s like. Ok sure. He just believed that his debt to the Jiangs should be paid with everything up to and including his life. And also that the moral and obvious thing to do in any situation is to put himself between anyone and harm's way. This is because he thinks he’s unkillable but he makes himself unkillable for the same reason he’ll die for a good enough reason: because it’s a way to have worth!

And then famously once everything goes to shit he does beg Lan Wangji to let him die as part of the moment where he is either destroyed by his own evil magic or lets his own evil magic tear him apart, a distinction I don't personally think matters very much at that point. Less explicitly textually, his mentally ill ass behavior after he gives up his core says to me that he wishes that he'd died honorably for Jiang Cheng when he had the chance and doesn't know what to do with himself since he hasn't.

Again I’m aware that he’s operating under a pretty specific set of culturally informed norms as a cultivator and member of a sect but like. TO ME. Everything about how Wei Wuxian conducts himself indicates that he has a box in his mind at all times that says 'in case of emergency break glass' and what’s inside the box is his own death. All the sound of mind actions of a man who has a normal and not suicidal relationship to death.

how do you clone a fey? that's trick question; and fey love those!

@the-navistar-carol (<333) brought up a good point while I was talking about my changeling danny au with her -- Dani! How would she exist in this au? Danny's a changeling - a fae. How would Dani, a clone of him, be created? How do you make a fey? Not through any means that Vlad is doing; you can't make a fey through unnatural means, considering the Fair Folk are nature. And Vlad's not a fey himself -- he's a halfa, even if he could make a fey, it's not in his best interest too. He's a powerful ghost, but even the weakest fae can overpower the strongest ghost. He won't want a clone of Daniel to be more powerful than him.

(In a three tier hierarchy it goes Ancients -> Fae/Mythos -> Ghosts. They all live in the Infinite Realms, but on different Planes. The fae live above the Ghost Zone in the Fey Wild, while the Mythos live beside the Wilds or down in the ghost zone depending on where they are. Places like the Frozone, the Athens Acropolis, and other such large islands climb throughout all three Planes.)

(While Ghosts can travel into the Fey Wild, its generally advised against as the ectoplasm tends to manifest differently there due to close contact magic. It can make it rather disorientating for a ghost, and as human spirits, the Fae living there would jump them faster than they could blink. So unless you're willing to play mind games with 'steal thy name eat thy face' fae, most ghosts keep out of the way of the Wilds. Fey can travel down into the Ghost Zone, they just don't bother.)

That's of course, not taking into account if Vlad even knows Danny's a fae himself. Vlad doesn't ring me as someone who really cares much about ghost culture or the going ons of the GZ. He might be aware that fae exist, but the moment he realizes he can't use them for personal gain he just doesn't bother with them. The risk is greater than the reward, and he'd rather not get eaten. But lets assume he's aware by now that Danny is fey, and has to take that into account while cloning him.

So, how does Dani exist? Good question! Honestly; i'm not sure. She might not exist at all, or if she does, she's more halfa than fey. Vlad would need a lot of human dna and ectoplasm to balance out all that fae magic. He manages to steal DNA from Jack and Maddie to do it, and since Jack's fey ancestry is very dormant its much easier to use alongside Danny's DNA.

In turn, it results in a little girl whose more human-ghost hybrid than clone. With that little extra boost in fey magic making her not a fey, but still relatively powerful. Dani is less of a clone and more of a lab-grown little sister. It's a rather tedious, complex process that has Vlad tearing his hair out trying to figure out. But he does eventually figure it out.

Civilian Gothamites realizing they can get vengeance through Sword!Robin

there is not enough femslash in batcest circles. the girls deserve to be just as weird about each other as the boys are. if BruDick gets to be weird father/son/brothers/lovers/friends/rivals/soulmates then it is only fair that Babs/Cass get to be mother/daughter/sisters/lovers too. Something about that deep intrinsic but undefinable love that is born out of trauma, especially if you consider Cass not knowing what healthy love looks like in the first place. i think it's fun and deserves just as much fandom content.

besides that, you can get even more niche with rarepairs like Helena/Steph. Huntress/Spoiler: Blunt Trauma is already a fantastic comic and even though it's their only real canon interaction it has so much potential. very comparable to TimJay in how Helena tries to get Steph to understand her morals and the corruption you could play with it.

that comic also highlights on how both Steph and Helena are outcasts of the Batfamily and don't have the approval of Bruce to be doing what they do in "his city". I think there's so much Potential in Helena taking Steph under her wing because Bruce won't let her in and it becomes a weird codependent toxic sapphic mess. I think the protectiveness Helena feels over Steph from the get-go is so clear and the way she wants to look out for Steph, wants to make sure Steph understands the real world? I love them. Helena should be allowed to steal Steph, actually. I think it'd be fun.

there are a lot of other possibilities too like Babs/Steph or even getting weird with Helena Bertinelli/Helena Wayne and the existential question of "is it selfcest or not." But these two specifically live in my head rent-free, especially Helena/Steph and one day I'll convince everyone else to ship it too.
