It's time for me to proper live blog my thoughts on the Lockwood and co show. Can I just say how phenomenal the set dressing is? There's two really terrific details one after the other. The first is the satchel's storefront, which reads like a slightly-below-luxury jewelry store wondow: not chic enough to not display merchandise in the window, but just fashionable and expensive enough to communicate with a single longing glance as she passes that this product is currently far, far out of Lucy's league. It's a great establishing shot that only takes a quarter of a second.

The other phenomenal set dressing comes moments later with the big electric signage in the Fittes lobby featuring Marissa and Penelope Fittes' glowing photographs. It's everything this signage needs to be. Objectively, it's tacky, the same look as a fast food drive thru menu, and it communicates what it needs to essentially to the very lowest class served by the Fittes Institute: the completely unaware observer. The building is sleek, gold toned, and art deco, making the signs sort of a focal point for common citizens passing through. They're not oriented towards the institute's elite guests, who would have been introduced in a later season (rip) but they do communicate something to the audience about the gold standard that the Fittes name sets: Penelope and her family are a brand.

We already know that Fittes sets the standard among agencies from the scene where Lucy receives the Fittes manual with her Third Grade, as well as from the mention of the Fittes fund for the bereaved. But there's a pretty big difference between being an industry standard and being a household name; the scene where Lucy visits the Fittes Institute for the first time visually affirms that Fittes is the latter. To work at Fittes would indisputably have introduced Lucy to the realm of the Successful (tm).

Thus, the immediate cut from begging at Fittes' door to soliciting increasingly smaller agencies confirms to the viewer how lofty Lucy's dreams were. It also establishes how low she's gone to even consider joining Lockwood and Co. I think those electric signs really sold it for me!

now that trump has tiktok, twitter, facebook and insta in his pocket, get ready for a massive wave of internet censorship. one of trump's greatest weapons has always been misinformation; it's going to become harder and harder to spread facts and criticism going forward. posts that aren't made invisible will be magically ignored by the algorithm. dissidents will have their accounts deleted and voices erased.

this is a suppression tactic. this is another stage of fascism.

so the tiktok ban was literally just propaganda for the trump administration. like. we all agree with that right. this is just laughably transparent. the ban wasn't even 24 hours. not even a whole day. to quote my infinitely funnier mutual from Discord, "Misha Collins was bisexual longer than TikTok was banned"
