Fascinating how Polites, the character who is the personification of Odysseus' optimism and is only in 5 songs, is more grieved and appreciated than Eurylochus, a character who is his own person and is in 11 songs.

#I'm being a hater but meh :/ it's just kind of baffling to me. Don't get me wrong. Polites plays his purpose for the musical #and it is neat how Jay took one line from him in the Odyssey and got silly with it and basically created his own character.#but like... All we know about Polites is that he's nice... that's literally it. He's Odysseus' optimism personified. which is why he died.#And it's not as though it isn't sad that he died. It's just that we got to know Eurylochus longer and truly get to know him more #is it because with how little people know about Polites other than “uwu sweetiepie” people like that so they can headcanon more?#is it because Eurylochus is “too complex” and therefore “not likable”??#idk. I'm gonna be burned at the stake for this I know it. but I don't understand it.#like during “Love in Paradise” it wasn't “Open Arms” that made me sad. A shortcut!#Now imagine for a sec trying to get through a parkcore + miros bird gauntlet with a corpse and a worm within 5 cycles #before the scav ran out of karma and you were stuck inside forever. Yeah #Besides that tho I've been messing around and been very tenderly modding the game.#Turns out you can have a bit of fun with most sprites without too much effort by simply cloning the MSC mod in your files #Then changing the copy's mod info so it doesn't clash and simply swapping images out for whatever you want #As long as you have the sprite name you can do this. You can also change region names and decals and music all sorts of stuff.#In short I've been brewing a custom mod for a friend to make her suffer as much as possible <3 #Thanks to a buddy on the rw server for showing me that trick btw lol. The best cesspool I've ever participated in #Oh before I forget- the symbol on CW's head is completely made up. They just looked so... Bald.#Tbh I wasn't expecting their personality to be so... bright? Most interpretations make them kinda solemn and gloomy #But nah this CW is what NSH should've been 100%. I like them. thinking about how bob sheldon never heard “no” in his life and all he wanted was for someone to say it to him, but when they did, he couldn’t process it, because he’s never had consequences in his life. he couldn’t stop because he’s never had to and he doesn’t know how to. he just takes everything too far until he digs a hole he can’t get himself out of (would he have changed if johnny hadn’t killed him? if pony had drowned that night? what wound he have done? what would it take for him to realize what he’s done?)

also thinking about how he yelled at cherry during the break up scene in the musical, how he wasn’t just annoyed, he was angry and how scary it must’ve been for her in the moment, and how she and marcia ditched him and his guys because they were drinking and how in the book version she refused to get in the car with him at the drive in but eventually did anyway, and how book cherry was so stuck on how much bob drank “but when he was sober he was so good to me” and what that sounds like if you think about it too much.
