“Sure did,” Jungkook puffs before stepping away, taking all the tight space with him and letting you breathe again. “But all I’m saying is, you gotta lower your standards or—” 

“No.”

“Or,” he continues, giving you a look, “Not complain if they’re too high.” 

“Well, thank you.” With your nose grazing the sky, you point out, “I’d like to think they’re just right.” 

“What even are they anyway? All you’ve said is something about ten days.”

“That’s basically it,” you murmur, resting your arms on the island as to not have your chest in full view. “If I still like someone after ten days, I know I’d be fine dating them for real.” 

There’s silence when you finish. When you finally look, the gawk you’re getting in return almost makes you laugh. “What?”

“You mean those days are only a trial run?” 

You do break into laughter this time, burying your face in slight shyness. “And what about it!” 

“Are you serious—?” Jungkook rounds the island so that he can speak directly at your hidden features. “Has anyone even gotten past all ten with you?”

You pause, breath fanning the granite top beneath you and wisping around your face. When you lift your gaze above your arms, you keep it trained on the countertop instead of his curiosity, 

“No.” 

He doesn’t say a word. 

“Not since my standards changed.” 

And you think that’s the end of this conversation. Because what else is there to say? You know your expectations are impossible but you think this is a hell of a lot better than—

“I could do it.” 

“What.” A glare is shot. “Absolutely not.” 

“Why not?”

“You? No.” You shake your head. “You wouldn’t even last seven.” 

“Try me,” he challenges, and you still can’t take him seriously despite the fire in his eyes. “I’ve lasted a lot more than that as your roommate, right?” 

“But that’s—this is—this is different! Be for real, Kook.” You vacate the island and head to your room, having enough of his teasing for one morning. 

But you get stopped at the doorway, a bare chest and chains blocking your vision and sending your mind into a frenzy. When you flick your gaze to his face, he simply says, with the straightest expression,

“I am.”

Starting with my head cannon because every thing will make more sense with it (or it wont that's entirely up to you) Imma try my best to make this enjoyable

So I head cannon both bill and ford as aspec this is important for the rest trust (I'm Aroace myself so some of my words are based of of experience ) being aroace doesn't mean you can't have a toxic one-sided relationship with a triangle

(most of this is pretty vanilla but I still wanna talk about it)

I believe it started of as a one-sided relationship on fords part (wow shocker) but it wasn't really love because he's ace it was more of infatuation (this stems from the fact he is a science boy and like ooo demon triangle thing) mistaken for love (I'm pretty sure this is common among aroace people or I just had an original experience) and maybe bill had just a little bit of the same feeling but instead of infatuation it was just pure obsession and when they had there little “tragic break up” and bill finally came to realize his obsession and it consumed him (idk i think that how abusive obsession is) and he realized he can’t live with out ford (i man he can but unhealthy obsession) and thus bills one sided relationship with ford where he just tries to get his puppet back but can’t figure out why he needs him so bad so he comes to the (subconscious) cuncultion there in love (because of course that’s the reasonable decision) and then you all know what comes after

I think bill has major will wood music vibes so I have nominated three songs of his for bill ford (cuz I'm genuinely going insane over them)

Ok so this one is the least perfect out of all of them cuz it only half what I want (obviously this song is a stretch but hear me out) It's mostly for the like the last half of the song (remember what I said about throwing out the meaning for get that i lied) this song about the struggle ls of growing up and is a heartfelt plea to be understood and accepted for who we are (which obviously ford was a wired kid) and this kinda ties into the one-sided infatuation because it also is about the romanticism of nostalgic love, and the pressure of society telling you to find someone and "settle down" as we get older (witch yk aroace can’t really do that) so he’s grasping at the fact that he is enamored with this demon he just summoned (because science) so he can come up with this narrative in his head of how he is in love and can finally fit at least one of the societal boxes (idk it sounds like something to me probly ooc but I'm having fun)

The fic is a script of her video with chunks of cut out content when she asks V to do smth/stop doing smth/take her to Extremely Dangerous Territory like Dogtown etc., all inspired by how real life extreme vloggers treat (dehumanize) locals sometimes.

Alan Wake x Cyberpunk 2077 crossover. Alan is a top-tier netrunner working for Militech, V just gave up Song’s body to NUSA after the horrors of Cynosure. Not long after, Hands calls V about a gig from a client. Client wants V, specifically, to go back to the ‘heart of darkness’. It’s Alan/Scratch too!

Teenager V, Johnny lives au. The Unification War is brewing on the horizon, and Johnny spots a teenager wearing a genuine vintage Samurai t-shirt in the crowd during his show. This one’s gonna hurt.

Better Call Saul au. Ignacio Varga AKA V fails to get out of the Valentinos in time. Right hand man to Gustavo Orta, the man’s suicide puts V in between the two Tino factions—older Padre loyalists and the new generation that doesn’t favor the old guard. It goes about as well as it did for Nacho in BCS :3c

Semi-role reversal between Song and V au. V is a top-tier netrunner running from his traumatic past, now with the ghost of Silverhand haunting his shortened life. Researching possible cures, V starts working for Hansen—just before Song comes to the Colonel with her presidential offer.

Forgive me, but an MCU au. The NCX space shuttle crashlands in New York with V and Song onboard, but the NYC is… wrong, and V’s infected with the Blackwall Pathogen. (This is born solely out of the Age of Ultron scene where Ultron first stumbles into a room full of the avengers, but this time it’s V possessed by a rogue AI).

(Actually, a lot of these aus involve the blackwall infection.)

Outsider POV, online dating au. David and Gloria left NC years ago, David has been chatting to his online friend for years. When Gloria lands a job with Trauma Team, she takes David back with her. David hit up his old friend (who’s been pretty quiet lately) to ask if they can meet, hoping he might pick them up from the airport. He knew his friend was homeless at some point, so when V shows up in a sports car, that’s for sure a surprise. (Idk, need to refine this idea.)

Trauma Team David Martinez meets a merc V on the job. That’s it that’s the AU.

doing two in one bc it's technically wednesday already idc lol - started a new wip I mentioned before (inspired by this video lol) and rn I'm rewriting what I wrote yesterday bc the past two days words were not wording and I hated everything I wrote, but I think I'm happy with it now haha I hope I'll manage to write it like I want to bc it's sooo good in my head istg haha

It started as a random idea, more like a throwaway thought, really. Tommy was just checking the weather for the next few days – his hot pilot boyfriend always likes to be prepared – while they were hanging out, and he casually mentioned that “it’s gonna be nice on Saturday, perfect barbecue weather,” which got Buck to mention how they often have family barbecues at Bobby and Athena’s. Somehow, the conversation spiraled, and Buck’s not sure who threw out a more concrete idea, but here they are now, standing side by side in Tommy’s kitchen, preparing food – Buck’s currently slicing veggies for a salad, while Tommy takes care of the meat – for the barbecue where they invited way too many people than Tommy’s backyard can probably fit. It really is nice weather, the sliding door leading from the kitchen to the backyard open and letting in warm sunshine and a soft breeze that makes the air feel cooler. They work in pleasant silence, the only sound is quiet music playing from the speaker, and Buck can’t help a fond smile when he hears his boyfriend hum along, so off-key Buck’s not sure he even knows the song, but it’s still adorable.

The silence is disrupted by the doorbell ringing, and before Tommy can even move, Buck is dropping the knife on the cutting board, wiping his hands, and sprinting towards the door, shouting an “I got it!” over his shoulder. He’s followed by an echo of Tommy’s fondly amused chuckles. So he’s a little excited, sue him – they haven’t had a family day like this in a while, and there was only one he brought Tommy to, all of their schedules not so easy to align. And today his whole family will be here, including their spouses and children, and Tommy invited a couple of his friends and their families, too, and it’ll be just a big, loud, chaotic get-together that he’s hosting with his boyfriend. Buck never hosted one of these before, and he’s really enjoying it so far, and he just wants everyone to have fun.

My corny stardew valley oc self insert thing. Her design is still a WIP and she sorta used to be a homestuck/ultraline self insert like Hussie but I just changed her up a bit. She's an emo NEET who's only source of income is a family member that sends her money from where ever they live. She crappily plays a guitar and wants to leave town or whatever.

Only thing I kept from the old sona were the glowing glasses. I never really gave her a name and she used to wear a shirt that just said Mpreg Beach 2009 😭 Her name might be Sorrow now but I don't know 😭

Her hair has like two versions. I have a version of her hair were she doesn't have a ponytail but then she just looks like a twink 💔

Her shirt is based off of Dot Dot Curve..I love that band. Her eye color is white but that doesn't mean she's blind (Well I mean she can't see well but she isn't like fully blind)

The back of her jacket is a reference to a song I like 🗣️

I was gonna do another drawing of her but I gave up bc it kept looking bad 😭 There's also her snailman outfit I wanted to draw..but I got lazy. I'll probably draw it later or something 🙏

as you may know, my second book, The Keeper of Lonely Spirits, releases in March 2025! so I spent much of this year editing, then editing some more, then line editing, then copy editing, then going over pass pages, then over more pass pages... the process never ends (until it's too late to make changes)

if you find any typos in the final book come March, instead of being annoyed about them, you should recognize their determination and give them an award for MVT (most valuable typo) and a kiss on their lil typewritten forehead. because they made it not only through my own fifty six thousand rereads, but also through my agent, my editor, my copy editor, and my proofreader, and I think almost every single one of those people went through the book at least twice

anyway, The Keeper of Lonely Spirits is a cozy fantasy about an old man cursed with immortality who hunts ghosts rather than making mortal friends who will die one day. when the residents of an Ohio town beset by a vengeful spirit adopt him as their own, he must decide: leave to protect his heart, or stay to save their lives?

because I was so busy with novel stuff, I only wrote one short story this year. part of one short story. back at the start of January.

you know what happened? I let it sit for a few days for reasons I no longer remember, and when I came back I couldn't remember quite where I was going with it a l a s

anyway it's a queer Cinderella-inspired short, and I'd love to magically figure out a direction for it afresh so I can finish it in 2025

in-progress stuff

...we still won't talk about how revising last year's cozy mystery is going, but in my defense (a) I've been on deadline for other things and (b) just nine chapters in I had already strayed so far from my scene list that I had to rethink the whole book, whoops

mostly, I've been working on the second book that this publisher bought, which has resulted in a very terrible first draft full of so many footnotes and brackets that I would almost call it a zero draft, except I can't bring myself to use that term*

(*for myself. y'all use it as much as you like, if you like it)

literally it was 79,000 words, 6,000 words of which were footnotes-to-self so as not to ruin my fancy WIP aesthetic (Blackadder and Perpetua ftw) with comments

anyway, then there was a marginally less terrible second draft, which is what my editor got (a respectable 98,000 words with zero footnotes and almost zero brackets)

THEN I was supposed to take a break and not think about the book again until my editor read it and got back to me...but instead I immediately wrote a brand new synopsis, sent it to her like "seriously you don't even have to read the version I already sent you bc it's gonna look so different," and then a couple weeks later whoops turned around started rewriting the whole story

which isn't going great bc I really DO need a break, I can TELL I need a break, but unfortunately when it comes to writing my brain is like "NO BREAK. ONLY WRITE >:[" which is Not Good. but I am trying to let myself casually poke at it instead of going hard and getting it done fast enough to send to my editor before she can even read the version she has lolol, so that's something

hi!!! i absolutely adore your work & wonder how you crank out so much and it’s just amazing??? every single time?? like i feel burnt out after writing ONE oneshot. i was just asking for advice on working on not feeling so stressed and anxious about my writing not being good enough and/or writing better without it feeling so repetitive! again you’re so incredible at what you do, i’m in awe </3

hi bubs! first of all thank you for the lovely compliment !!! lmfao "churn out" is a very good way of putting it bc like.... that's what it feels like my brain is doing at this point sldkfjasd but in terms of actual advice, i'm gonna put it under the cut bc i cannot shut up about writing lol

okay! so. first of all, the stress and anxiety right -- those are things that come from inside you, and things that you have to kind of internally adjust. again, i've said it once and i'll say it a million more times, but "good" is subjective, and you don't have to be good at a hobby to enjoy doing it, esp if it's something that ur doing for yourself!

NOW. i do get the want to be better at a hobby! that's totally fine too! and i have some solid/concrete examples of things that i did/still do to try and improve my own writing. feel free to read through them and see if they help!

writing being repetitive -- i fear this is just a thing that happens with writing LOL; every story that you wanna tell? someone's already done it. trust me when i say this, you have to internally readjust your expectations for "originality" and "so called creativity" right like. 100% of the tropes i've written about on this blog are not original LOL. like they're called tropes for a reason, bc they're things that have been used in media/literature so often that people have recognized the pattern. so yes! ur writing will be repetitive! and u know what? ppl will like that! bc guess what? ppl like familiar things!!!! childhood friends to lovers? enemies to lovers? AMAZING 10/10 GIVE ME 14 OF THEM right like? if i know i like a thing, imma be STOKED if a writer you like has done it like a million times cause i WILL READ it in all its million iterations; so don't stress! it's all good!

me PERSONALLY. i've trained myself to basically use writing as a tool for my brain to relieve stress. and yes, you can train your brain (instagram, tiktok, tumblr, facebook have ALL trained ur brain into doom scrolling, you can do it to urself too); i was lucky bc i started at a pretty young age, and basically whenever i was stressed or upset, i'd like... fume about it and then (bc im an only child and had a LOT of time by myself growing up) i'd kind of retract into my head and reach for a comfort character -- whoever that might be. and just kind of funnel all that frenetic energy into thinking up a story. my current one happens to be vi, and so she's constantly just kinda chillin in my brain. something annoying happens at work? cool, i'll deal with it. but i'll then go into my safe place of thinking about vi x popstar!reader trying on kiss proof lipsticks LOL or whatever else it might be

that's basically how i can constantly put stuff out, bc once i then think up something, i have to write it down somewhere. i get anxious if i don't so i've got a bajillion lil fragments of thoughts stored in my notion/drafts on tumblr where i can reach for them if my brain's not already marinating on something

let other things inspire you -- if i'm reading a novel, you can BET YOUR ASS imma steal lines from it. straight up take a phrase and just highlight it so i can go thru my kindle highlights later and be like 'that's cute im usin it' in a fic that i'm writing; if you're listening to a song and a lyric stands out, jot it down -- i literally heard "work out" by J COLE of all people and immediately was like OOF -- gymrat/personal trainer!vi sounds HOT AS FUCK and guess what, that's a wip now LOL; there's nothing in that page on notion for me other than the line "jcole voice: i wanna see you work out for me" sdklfajsdoi like it's so unsrs. just anything and everything.

"stay open" to ideas -- and they'll come. trust me they will. they're like crows -- they're smart. once they figure out that you're here standing w/ ur arms out they'll FLOCK and then you'll just have a trillion ideas and not enough hrs in the day LOL (it's a different kind of suffering)

and finally, this is the thing that really changed my relationship with my own creative process and writing in general: get rid of the concept of writer's block -- it's not real. i know, everyone says they feel it, and how to get over it. but getting over writers block is literally as simple as telling urself "cool, not today fam" and then just getting to it. i'd suggest watching elizabeth gilbert's tedtalk "your elusive creative genius" bc the way she talks about it was perfect -- to think of your creativity as something that is outside urself, and it immediately shifts the onus from YOU to... some amorphous thing
