i very deeply respect your mashposting and even though im not as enthusiastic about hawkahy as you are i think the content you make for them us delightful and some of the best mashposting on this godforsaken website. that being said, i wanted to know ur takes on the hawkeye & trapper dynamic, and the hawkeye & bj dynamic. Not in a shippy way, just in the World of Hawkahy what role do trapper and bj play in their relationships with hawkeye :3 this because i love that one comic u did where hawkeye is spunchbop and bj is Patrick its one of my fave pieces of mash fanart lol

(⁠๑˘❥⁠⁠ ˘๑⁠) first off, THANK YOU!! i'm soooo crazy about hawkahy and i really enjoy contributing to my fellow shippers, but i'm glad my art can also still appeal to people who are less interested the ship itself.

second, VERY fun question!! i wish i had definitive answers for yall, but you know me... i love to go "well idk it could go either way" ^_^;; really, it depends on what kind of tone and theme i'm looking for. i don't really write heavier stuff (because i have so much fun writing funny fic) so that kind of narrows my options, but there's a lot of potential i'd love to explore— or see someone else explore, if they're so inclined!

TRAP:

generally the trapper reading i typically default to is that he and hawkeye have a pretty casual FWB thing going on. trapper considers hawkeye a very close friend and hooks up with him at an intersection of bicuriosity and deep platonic affection, but hawkeye catches baddddd feelings and ends up genuinely heartbroken to find out their thing was lopsided. in this case, hawkahy would happen only after trapper leaves— mulcahy has a tough time trying to get noticed before that point :( but at the same time, i don't think mulcahy would pounce at the first opportunity, because i don't think an immediate rebound would be good for hawkeye nor mulcahy... but it could happen for dramaaaaa...

another version of the hawkeye-trapper rapport that i love playing with in my fics is trapper being generally very supportive but nonetheless slightly grossed out. i think there's a lotttt of comedy potential with hawkeye thinking it's okay to fuck a priest but NOT a married woman, and meanwhile trapper is pro-infidelity but anti-priestfucking (for whatever reason), and they squabble and tease each other about it the whole time.

it's also funny to think about is trapper trying to figure out whether mulcahy now gets the "one of the bros" back-slapping beer-chugging dude treatment, or if instead he's now slotted into the "go easy on 'em trap" category that protects hawkeye's ladyfriends from hearing trapper's bawdiest jokes and comments when hawkeye brings them along as a plus-one to the swamp.

trapper seems like he's pretty likely to sniff out that hawkeye and mulcahy are seeing each other even if they try their damnedest to keep it secret. i like to think hawkeye trusts trapper enough that he would go ahead and divulge it it up front pretty soon after it's official. trapper could probably even pick up hawkeye's crush beforehand... maybe even before hawkeye knows about it!

i don't see trapper as being too jealous of hawkeye spending a lot of time with mulcahy, even if it means hawkeye is now exclusive and not sleeping with trapper anymore. if anything i think he'd be pretty stoked that he's got one less guy to compete with for the nurses' attention. pretty sweet deal as far as he's concerned.

i do think there'd be some tricky navigating between how hawkeye acts with trapper and the STARK difference with how he acts around mulcahy, which you can see clear as day in the s1 finale, where hawkeye gets soooo soft and careful while talking to mulcahy. i don't think either one is disingenuous; i think hawkeye contains multitudes. hawkeye's not the type to fake sincerity. and to that end, i really don't think hawkahy should hinge on hawkeye totally giving up all the cruder parts of his personality (especially since mulcahy is really no saint either), so it could be pretty interesting to see that manifest in whether/how he's still maintaining a close friendship with trapper now that he's been seeing mulcahy regularly and trying to make a good impression.

BEEJ:

the direction bj goes in depends on whether hawkahy are already an item before he gets there. he does form that almost instantaneous trauma-bond with hawkeye on his first day, but i think if hawkeye admitted "yeah by the way the chaplain is my boyfriend" as soon it seemed safe, bj would be able to take it in stride as another weird little quirk of the mash he has to get used to. he's too hung up on dealing with all the gore to worry about who's banging who.

by contrast, i think he could potentially get pretty upset/jealous if hawkeye and mulcahy paired up a little while later. i can see him feeling really betrayed, like, "what do you normally do when i'm gone?" "wait for you to get back!!"

if bj still doesn't feel like he's really enmeshed himself into the unit— which i think on some level, he never wants to, because he's banking on dropping everything like a hot potato the second he can— then i can totally picture him just feeling completely lost and isolated when hawkeye is suddenly forgoing their boys-nite boozathons in favor of getting some priest pipe. like, at least trapper could always go find his own cuddle buddy to pass the time and had nurses lining up to volunteer; bj has basically nobody and doesn't seem inclined nor equipped to fix that. hawkeye is his liason to the rest of the camp, and bj isn't so great with people without having hawkeye there to help as both teleprompter and safety net.

basically i think bj wants to keep hawkeye within a very specific arm's-length radius— not too close, but not too far either, and hawkeye having so much private time with someone else could really get under his skin.

you could also have bj think the priestfucking is gross/bad on sheer principle like trapper did, even without the jealousy angle, and it'd probably hold a little more water coming from bj than trapper. however, it'd be funny if he's insisting it's definitely not a jealousy thing and he's being fully objective about it, but you can totally tell he's just jealous. x)

i admit i kinda love seeing bj get tormented, because he's got such obvious buttons to press and yet sternly insists that they don't even exist, similar to houlihan and frank. like, you can't just set that up and not expect me to rub my hands together and SLAM those buttons as hard as i can. ergo, bj getting jealous about hawkahy is supremely funny to me. i'm not too proud to admit that!

So someone I follow here (and that I have/had a lot of respect for) recently made a long post about how they don’t care about tae and that they don’t really like him, think he’s the most problematic one, don’t listen to any of his music, don’t follow him on Instagram, etc, and that they are only here for one of the other members. In the same post, they say they are not a solo or an anti, and that they’re sure that the other guys (minus tae) are okay, but they only listen to bts for this one member… I was really shocked to read it because I really respected them but it seems so weird to me to have those opinions but claim not to be a solo? I’m just confused as to what to do, I’m tae biased so I feel pretty icky about the whole situation and that I didn’t realise their opinions before, and at the same time I’m mad at myself for feeling anxiety about ONE persons (and ofc those who sent in supporting messages about it…) opinions about someone I like but don’t know personally. Do you have any advice on how to handle a situation like this? Or am I totally overreacting and it’s normal that fans have these opinions, I haven’t just seen them on my dash before?

This is a tough convo 😬😬😬 and I’m honestly still working through what separating art from the artist means to me! But here’s sort of what I think.

I have always refused to watch Woody Allen movies or support Chris Brown’s music. And would 100% stop respecting anyone who preaches anti-vaxx or anti-choice bullshit. I’d never listen to Kanye West on purpose either. I think these dangerous narratives pushed out by ppl whose moral compass are clearly different than mine just totally water down the art they make. Kanye being a fucking weirdo antisemite automatically discredits any good music he makes, to me.

But I’ve also never been connected to any of it. I don’t care for his music, or Chris Brown’s, and I can live without Woody Allen movies. So it’s easy for me to boycott it all. With The 1975’s music—it shaped my teen years. It makes important statements, it breaks boundaries, I feel it so much more deeply than other music makes me feel. So as embarrassing or hypocritical it may be, it would probably take a lot for me to stop listening to it and supporting the band🥲

Matty’s issue is that he thinks ‘teenage boy peepee poopoo make me a sandwich humor’ is funny. Which is really immature and can be damaging to project. But then he turns around and says profound and very intelligent shit about important issues and builds this super leftist radical progressive political stance…… so what the fuck dude! This sentence right here is the exact reason why Bumbleby shippers get a bad rap in the RWBY community.

Like, you guys got your validation. You got the kiss. But that's never enough.

You want to create pointless scenes of other characters (conveniently male characters) validating Bumbleby when it would feel more forced than the guy voiced by one of the head writers going "I've been waiting forever for this moment".

You want to make sure Bumbleby wins every single poll forever and when another ship beats them, even if it's legit, you start throwing a shitfit.

Hell, it even extends to other ships in RWBY. An obvious example is Black Sun, but we also see that Freezerburn, a WLW ship, also gets caught in this crossfire by virtue of Yang being shipped with Weiss.

And now, you simply want Sun to start praising Bumbleby like the second coming of Christ for the express purpose of treating "antis" horribly, doing no better than how Bumbleby shippers were treated.

It's even more insulting because for years, Bumbleby shippers have been dogging on Sun and, by extension, Black Sun shippers, calling Sun all sorts of names just to get at the shippers and make them problematic. And now you want him to be your mouth piece just for one more middle finger?

It's shit like this that's why people view Bumbleby as a toxic relationship or even why the homophobic Ruby meme took off in the first place. Because they made the bees furious, and I didn't feel bad for them at all given how many of them treated shippers horribly for years.

If you want the short version for this feud: They're subreddits designed around mocking systems. I decided to start responding in turn a long time ago.

Recently, new mods took over r/systemscringe who announced that they would be undoing rules against censoring systems. These rules were put into place by past mod teams and were intended to prevent harassment of people posted there. The solution of the new mod team was to, essentially, create a hit list of acceptable targets to mention without being censored.

At the time they were considering this, they were going to make a rule that people on their hit list had to have a minimum of 10k followers. Something I, with only 1,800 followers, would NOT qualify for. But because I dared criticize them, the r/systemscringe mod team declared me to be a "public figure" and added me to their hit list.

That's the basics of it, anyway. 🤷‍♀️

Details honestly don't matter too much. Most important thing is that now there's a flair with my name on it on r/systemscringe, people there will likely be mentioning my blog by name from now on pretty regularly, and when any cringizens are curious and go to look me up, first thing they'll see on my pinned is a list of r/systemscringe lies with academic sources to debunk them. 😁

Ok so, even if I'm actually impressed by all the stuff that happened, I feel like the only thing I can talk about (bcs I got better in it by reading u guys) is Byler and melvin, Im so sorry.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

This season has been rough. I have some issues and contradicts ideas. First of all, (this is about the calls and the first moments) Mike's treatment to Will could be again interpreted as he cared more of her girlfriend, or he was trying to avoid Will to face the reality . So, we could have two different positions about his feelings and it could be both valid but... Ok, to the important scene, the melvin fight.

So, I had two different thoughts, first one, it showed the lack of one of the most important things for the Duffer Brothers in a relationship: comprehension, understandment. if u remembered J*ncy's fight, it started because they "didn't understand each other anymore" which was again the Melvin situation they had. This is caused by one of the things that the duffers brothers have mention, Mike and Eleven comes from different worlds, and therefore they can't be together and they can't understand each other, like a ghost and a Ghostbusters or E.T and Elliot, that Lucas and Erica's scene with the two toys... So, this is good for byler, right?

Well I noticed sth else that kind of scared me, this fight had an obvious St*ncy parallel, which was the "ily" thing. It shouldn't be bad, we had been given this St*ncy - Melvin parallels, just like we had j*ncy-byler parallels, but... This first volume showed us that... maybe j*ncy isn't the endgame couple so, this season kind of turned upsidedown (lol) the byler parallels proofs, or at least the J*ncy-Byler ones (which doesn't delete the Mike-Hopper ones that could be giving us anti-melvin proof still).

But again, the fact that J*ncy could not be endgame is another way of helping Byler (because all of the two brother thing¿? but they did it with El anyway-). Let's say that it makes things for Mike and Will much more easy and less weird to see for the audience.

And it is so funny to me because that's why I am so confused, they gave us proof telling us yes, and no HAHAHAH.

Another example of this is the "best friend" scene: Sr did u just asked him to be ur best friend when u are telling him he is the MOST SPECIAL person you had (LMAO where was that special Lucas-Mike relationship Dustin talked about??Things change ik, but still, it could be Byler proof, but not necessarily) and that he missed him so much eventhough you didn't called him more than 3 times (which would totally support that theory of the avoiding feelings. If you missed someone u would call them lol).

And, the part where Will tells Mike THAT quote, about telling the truth even if it hurts, we can't be sure if he's just reflecting his feelings about his confession onto Mike and El, or is a total foreshadowing of what is about to happen with this "ily" thing.

Another thing I was so surprised to see is that, Mike wasn't only reading the letter in front of that sign pointing at the closet, but IN the letter, it had rainbows on it, WTF (that is not only related to LGBT, but WILL and Will and Mike too (that rainbow heart draw from Mike's bassement in the very beginning of the 1st season??)

Even so, I felt like this season, everyone has used rainbows and it seemed like they didn't have a meaning anymore (Like Nancy's hair accesorie, or other clothes too).

I also wanted to point out that the roller rink byler fight had BLUE and YELLOW colors like----.

Another thought is that Mike's feelings have been shown as admirence towards El. The first scene where Dustin is talking to Mike about their girlfriends, Mike says that she saved the world and he only kept repeating that thought but, he didn't actually showed love, he showed again, admirance (that is why El wanted to keep being a superheroine, so he could keep Mike's feelings) throught out the season.

If you mix this with the fact that he can't say he loves her, the theory and interpretention of Mike avoiding Will and his feelings, and that Will's truth quote could be a foreshadowing, it could work for byler A LOT.

Also and I almost forgot to mention, the "it has always been" scene or sth like that), at the end it resulted in a Byler scene, and I wanted to remember the theory someone came up about the poster¿? thing in the back (the square one) that it was somehow (I don't remember how) connected to LGBT people again so, Byler in front of another LGBT icon? yeah.

That's why I am so confused rn, but I am still hopefull bcs of that "telling the truth" scene, and that it has this different proofs, so this doesn't confirm or deny anything.

And we still have to watch Mike's speech and Will's drawing which I am so excited about.

This is all so caotic but, as i am so confused rn, I can't put them together. But this post will help me to organize my ideas and split them one by one, I just wanted to take all these notes first.

I don’t make meta posts about dsmp/MCYT much, but I think it’s very important to acknowledge the positive impact the creators have had on the queer community

Trans identities and different gender expression are an in-universe (and sometimes out of universe) thing that isn’t treated as different or absurd by the cast or the world. It’s an incredibly powerful thing, more than a lot of people realize.

In the media, it is very easy to find people being negative about LGBTQA+ issues. The majority of representation highlights the negative aespects of queer identity or expression and refuses to acknowledge it as normal or positive. I think some important examples of trans identities and gender expression being challenged are these:

-c!Tommy being completely okay with c!Fundy being trans. He’s more weirded out by c!Fundy being a fox than a trans guy.

-(Presumed) straight Cc!s being fine with their characters being in queer relationships.

-The platonic marriage of Ranboo and Tubbo.

-Eret using all pronouns and people just being like “okay slay my liege.” And moving on. Both in character and out of character.

-I’ve seen this brought up before but cc!Tommy/Tubbo/Ranboo using flowers as metaphors and literary (?) devices and not even thinking twice about it.

-Cc!s being totally okay and supportive of having a mostly queer viewer base.

-Cc!s being incredibly positive about queer rights and openly condemning those who say otherwise. (Philza is a great example of this.)

-cc!Ranboo being cool with his character being portrayed as NB by fans.

-the countless charity streams and charity work these people do.

-Some male CC!s being comfortable with being feminine and wearing female aligned clothing. And when they aren’t comfortable? They express it in a way that doesn’t discredit those who do.

You may not think this is a lot. You may think it’s not enough. The path of progress is one taken in tiny steps, and seeing people like us, characters like us, people who support us, is incredible.

Younger fans have no clue what it was like when the MCYT and larger gaming community was rife with anti queer jokes and ideology. I remember when gaming channels were a part of the alt right pipeline. I was sucked down into a toxic mindset because of the community and it warms my heart that the opposite is happening now.

Things have changed for the better, and I have never felt more optimistic about the future. Feel free to add if u think of anything :)
