Me when I cosplay as a straight cop for a pride event, openly say on my blog putting him in pride colors didn't look right, shout for fictional cop pride publicly at the event, people respond with "acab", and then get a bunch of defense posts and free art while the cop pride part conveniently gets left out of all the info defending me:
#girlbob.txt#disclaimer: i would never do this#i am mocking the scenario getting to this stage#when it should've ended with 'yeah of course if you shout for seraph pride then people are going to be kind of hostile to you'#1. the seraph are fictional cops and 2. pride has a pretty big history of people trying to say 'well what about us'#lest we forget the fucking 'a stands for ally' days and straight pride flags#it was tone deaf and ignorant at best and actively malicious towards the more marginalized groups there at worst#and as far as death threats go well. that's just part of being active in a public internet place?#that's not to say it isn't bad but it's also not unique to this scenario nor does it exempt the person from genuine criticism#but it will be used to do so despite the fact that people often get sent those things for simply BEING people of color#it sucks that happened to gwg but if you discredit criticism or have been flowering her in support for doing what she did#as a reaction to the threats and stuff well. go ask her why everyone failed to mention the cop pride thing in their support.#gw2

Dick or no dick confirmation Pickles was always going to be trans to me anyways; if he's swingin' somethin that's phallo babes, if he's not then his t-dick fat. What's not to get.
#metalocalypse#jay talkin#I'm sorry they wrote that awful gross little man far too likeable and relatable to on a trans level#for me not to hoot and holler and cheer for the trans pickles agenda#changes nothing about his character arc or any of the show anyone is capable of being the kind of person he is#don't make the mistake of thinking thats exclusive to cis men#his transness wouldnt change that#only adds on an extra layer to him that i think works fantastically.#Listen that dude was rejected by his family driven to drink and drugs young to escape that ran away to be in a band#is called fucking Pickles of all things and refuses to tell anyone his real last name;#over the span of four seasons and two movies he slowly starts to learn to be for others what he never had#he becomes more caring more supportive#it's not a stretch to say he undoes some of the toxic masculinity he's been keeping himself shielded behind#and learns how to be a kinder man.#all of which have no contradictions with him being trans!#In fact it doesn't take much extra thought to find ways a lot of this can line up with some trans masculine experiences#i mean. Did no one else have a younger phase where they swung as far as they could into crass rude and uncaring ways#to try and assert their masculinity only to grow and realise that you can be a man and be more caring.#Did no one else have father issues. 1 800 come on now i know those are both shared experiences a lot of us have had LOL.#at the end of the day this show aired nearly 20 years ago and is finished. we're not getting more of it#so nothing is altered nor changed if pickles is canonically trans or not ok. its fine#i mean hell i dont even need canon confirmation hes trans to me and thats all i care abt#but i think if yr getting suuuuuper weird abt needing him not to be canonically trans you have some issues#and bio essentialist ideals of gender if you think only a cis man can act like he does#again. anyone can be like that. its not exclusive. him being trans would not change him in any way shape or form lol#AND ALSO GODDDUUUGH for once i love getting to see a guy pushing 50 whos depicted as trans#do you have any idea how dire and barren it is out here. we never get to see a trans guy older than 30 and whos not a pristine model#I WANT MORE OLD SHLUBBY SHITHEAD TRANS GUYS IN MEDIA

I know they were busy saving the world and all of that, but we really got robbed of some interactions between Yasmine, Ava and Beatrice just ... being nerds together.
Imagine the potential: Yasmine blasting out fun history facts and then Beatrice complementing by bringing up a whole linguistic analysis; Ava just listens in awe before adding the most mind-blowing dystopian theory based on a sci-fi book she read.
#my girls they're all a bunch of nerds (affectionate) and I love them#but also can we stop and think about it for a moment:#Yasmine is an Archeology PhD candidate but aso knows a ton of medical and geographical facts#she has had enough time and support to pursue her passions IN PARALELL with her faith#something that neither Ava nor Beatrice had (Bea put her faith first and Ava never had enough resources nor formal education)#but also this led me to the question of which kind of nerd would Beatrice be? because that girl knows a little of everything#but we obviously don't see what she LIKES#I'm a huge believer of Ava being a physics-science-scifi nerd though#warrior nun#ava silva#sister beatrice#yasmine amunet

I'm unfortunately still easily affected by Ruki so it's better staying away. However I'm grateful to people who show their love openly to all the members cause it appears to be very much needed.
#there are some people i just will never grow balls to send anything to and i am in peace with that at this point#i am a fan of 64 dudes and I've only been able to speak out my support to probably 10 of them max#and i'm still shit when it comes to gazette's case so i can't be supportive when i myself cannot support myself#like tell them what that i care that things will be ok?#frankly i don't think my care matters nor do i believe things will get better#just the fact all the members are trying so hard to lift their spirits back up is insane to me#cause i for sure don't even want to try that yet#so when my energy is lower than what they are currently looking for i won't be sending half assed positive energy#maybe when i feel better i can genuinely send sth nice but rn anything i'd dare try would feel pretentious

people really do not know what they're talking about when it comes to Elizabeth Woodville's social status, huh?
#yes Elizabeth was without a doubt considered too low-born to be queen#no she was not a commoner and nobody actually called her that during her life (so I'm not sure why people are claiming that they did?)#Elizabeth's social status was not a problem in itself; it was a problem in the context of queenship and marrying into royalty#Context is important in this and for literally everything else when it comes to analyzing history. Any discussion is worthless without it.#obviously pop culture-esque articles claiming that she was 'a commoner who captured the king's heart' are wrong; she wasn't#But emphasizing that ACTUALLY she was part of the gentry with a well-born mother and just leaving it at that as some sort of “GOTCHA!”#is equally if not more irresponsible and entirely irrelevant to discussions of the actual time period we're studying.#Elizabeth *was* considered unworthy and unacceptable as queen precisely because of her lower social status#her father and brother had literally been derided as social-climbers by Salisbury Warwick and Edward himself just a few years earlier#the Woodvilles' marriage prospects clearly reflected their status (and 'place') in society: EW herself had first married a knight and all#siblings married within the gentry to people of a similar status. compare that to the prestigious marriages arranged after EW became queen#Elizabeth having a lower social status was not 'created' by propaganda against her; it fueled and shaped propaganda against her#that's a huge huge difference; it's irresponsible and silly to conflate the two as I've seen a recent tumblr post cavalierly do#like I said she was considered too low-born to be queen long before any of the propaganda Warwick Clarence or Richard put out against her#and the fact that Elizabeth was targeted on the basis of her social status was in itself novel and unprecedented#no queen before her was ever targeted in such a manner; Clearly Elizabeth was considered notably 'different' in that regard#(and was quite literally framed as the enemy and destroyer of 'the old royal blood of this realm' and all its actual 'inheritors' like..)#ngl this sort of discussion always leaves a bad taste in my mouth#because it's not like England and France (et all) are at war or consider each other mortal enemies in the 21st century#both are in fact western european imperialistic nations who've been nothing but a blight to the rest of the world including my own country#yet academic historians clearly have no problem contextualizing the xenophobia that medieval foreign queens faced as products of their time#and sympathizing with them accordingly (Eleanor of Provence; Joan of Navarre; Margaret of Anjou; etc)(at least by their own historians)#Nor were foreign queens the “worst” targets of xenophobia: that was their attendants or in times of war commoners or soldiers#who actually had to bear the brunt of English aggression#queens were ultimately protected and guaranteed at least a veneer of dignity and respect because of their royal status#yet once again historians and people have no problem contextualizing and understanding their difficulties regardless of all this#so what is the problem with contextualizing the classism *Elizabeth* faced and understanding *her* difficulties?#why is the prejudice against her constantly diminished & downplayed? (Ive never even seen any historian directly refer to it as 'classism')#after all it was *Elizabeth* who was more vulnerable than any queen before her due to her lack of powerful foreign or national support#and Elizabeth who faced a form of propaganda distinctly unprecedented for queens. it SHOULD be emphasized more.

mild rant, cause hotd TikTok is insufferable.
so I saw an edit, with the scene of Viserys on his death bed, calling Rhaenyra his only child...
these were some of the comments...
how dense do people have to be to say this shit, as if the abuse/neglect Aegon, Helaena, Aemond (and Dearon) faced, is the reason they are the way that they are????
aegon turned to his cups so young because he had to face the fact that his father didn't love him, his mother had... complicated feelings towards him (he was her first, born of marital rape that destroyed her life and childhood, and she loved him no doubt, but part of her hated what he represented in her life. all of which is Viserys and Otto's fault). not to mention the abuse he faced from Viserys and Otto (focus on Otto, cause he did what he wanted, since Viserys wasn't around enough to thoroughly abuse his son himself and wouldn't punish Otto for doing so). his drinking and need to self destruct to escape a life he doesn't want, turned him into the destructive, drunken bastard he is.
aemond was permanently maimed, an injury that very well could have killed him or hindered him greatly in life, and was ignored by his father, who then supported such an obvious lie instead of protecting his own son (aka, treating the greens and the blacks as equals and not playing favorites, they're aren't asking for miracles they asking for bare minimum). he suffered so greatly and his father couldn't give less of a shit. so on top of everything else, he had this anger boiling in his chest for years and years, stoked by his father's willing negligence. not to mention the fear it cause his mother (who was being manipulated by Otto) that Rhaenyra truly was a threat to his livelihood, which only targeted his anger.
Helaena, on a direct/surface level, was the best off, in terms of her father, but the ripple effect he caused on her life and those around her caused her to be married to her brother, who she didn't love, who didn't live her, and brought her suffering to some degree. it was the war Viserys practically created (tell me he didn't, I dare you) that sent her to madness (amongst other things *ahem* blood and cheese).
like, this man destroyed his children, directly or not, everything he did broke them down and apart, until he died, leaving them with a war that would end them all. his actions made them (Aegon and Aemond) into the people they were, but of course, that doesn't matter, apparently.
#gonna flip my shit#you cant hate the victims and then love/support their abuser#that logically does not make any fucking sense#and before anyone says anything#no I dont not hate rhaenyra/the blacks#they are morally complex and are neither entirely good nor bad#But if I were to choose one said to defend and deem the most 'right' I'm picking the greens and I will fight and die on this hill#also#yes I know what aegon did#no I do not support it/him (after the fact)#what I will say is#I support him up until that point with my whole chest AND acknowledge that he could have been different had his life not sucked so bad#also also#I acknowledge that the whole plotline of Aegon being evil was just to make the greens look worse for the show#so my feelings torwards aegon are complicated and messy#but I will always defend him in terms if the treatment he recieved frim Viserys#hotd#aegon targaryen#aegon ii targaryen#aemond targaryen#helaena targaryen#alicent hightower#anti viserys i targaryen#I want this mans head on a stick#anti otto hightower#I wish this mans desth was 10x more painful#lukewarm feelings towards the blacks.... thats all im gonna say#pro team green

Thinking about Httyd...hot and perhaps too personal take: To me, Httyd was more than anything else a movie about emotional starvation. And Forbidden Friendship was the sweetest, briefest celebration of relief from that.
Afterwards, everybody basically told Hiccup to man up “because that’s just life” and I will never forgive Httyd2 and Httyd3 for that.
#httyd#wherethekiteflies#y'all keep forgetting that Hiccup grew up without a Mom.#In the same day he finds his mother; he loses his Dad.#and the third movie has nothing better to do than to make Hiccup let go of his friend because it's clingy or whatever#to keep the only stable; emotionally available being around that he has ever known.#he's painted as selfish and immature for wanting that.#Neither Astrid; nor Valka; nor Gobber understand Hiccup in the way Toothless did.#Hiccup is simply expected to go without emotional validation or the praise and intimacy he desires for his entire life#because taking responsibility is more important than feeling understood. or whatever.#this boy was granted Forbidden Friendship as the only real hug he ever received... from a dragon who chose him; who stayed with him;#who loved him; who didn't leave or bully or disappoint him. this dragon was the healthiest relationship Hiccup ever had.#and it was judged to be weak. to weaken him as a Chief. when his passion and compassion for Toothless and others were in fact#Hiccup's greatest strengths as Chief. it were those qualities; this sensitivity that made him amazing.#but the plot decided that he needed to become just like Stoick and Astrid and like the Valka who abandoned her dreams & hopes for "reality#how is desiring and needing emotional backup in life void of reality; weak; delusional and too idealistic?#shame on you httyd sequels for never granting this boy what he desired most. and that was honest; unconditional support.#analysis#httyd analysis#rant#hiccup

I went looking and couldn't find any record of me ever actually posting this on tumblr, oops, but a couple years back I wrote this thread on twitter about how Emmeryn's sacrifice absolutely is not supposed to teach Chrom (or Robin, for that matter) that "sacrifice is necessary" or anything like that and mmmm for reasons I am getting Upset about it again so asdfghjkl I'll actually share the Rant with my tumblr followers this time.
#i'm sorry i'm sorry it's just then whenever i see anyone say that chrom didn't “learn his lesson” about sacrifice from emmeryn i freak out#it's such a common take too??? well okay idk if it's “common” or if i just keep running into a niche take but either way i've seen it a lot#i could also get into (i think i have before at some point) that when robin says “what is one life when weighed against millions?” it's...#it's actually a misquote of emmeryn's “you each have but one life and i do not wish it weighed against mine.”#and despite sounding similar it actually has a directly opposite meaning#emmeryn's saying her life is not more important than anyone else's but robin's saying that their life is less important than everyone else'#also robin does NOT in fact believe in sacrificing for the greater good. look at their supports with virion. and walhart too actually#when chrom tells aversa that one person's life means nothing in the shadow of millions he's basically parroting robin#except neither he nor robin believe that. that's what they say when they feel powerless. like when emmeryn was on that cliff#(also the game literally does call out the hypocrisy? aversa points out he didn't feel that way when his sister was on the line...#like... you're supposed to notice...)#anyway sorry for vagueblogging but do note that i've had this take for 2 years (and well... longer but it took me a while to write it out)#and dang it i have a certain blog BLOCKED but sometimes i go to my mutuals blogs directly and for some reason tumblr still shows me reblogs#anyway normally i would keep my mouth shut it's just that i already had this one ready to go from 2 years ago asdfghjkl

my most unpopular ttrpg opinion is easily: no, "universal" games cannot run horror and stop trying to run horror in games not designed to be horror
like, dnd by far is the biggest offender here, but i keep seeing it pop up again and again and im sick of it. i still have no clue why the ogoa ttrpg is in the cypher system or why the mystery flesh pit ttrpg also made this exact same choice.
there are systems made to run horror in. and you cannot just pick up and immediately transfer that horror to another system because so many of the mechanics are things which are fundamental in all other genres but literally fly in the face of horror or creating good horror. there are so many fundamental mechanics in ttrpgs of other genres that will immediately destroy any and all tension you are trying to build in a horror game. please, just stop torturing yourself like this. stop torturing the game like this. just pick up some indie ttrpgs already designed with horror in mind, for fucks sake.
#all the care guide says is 'biomass'#the feeling that comes through every time is that these are not people who give a shit about horror#they want something ''spooky'' that they can do at halloween#and thats it#they have no understanding of the genre nor engagement with it#and theyre so married to these systems that they wont even give the bare minimum to even try#im still so mad about the podcast ttrpgs too. legitimately what the fuck was going through your head when you made this decision.#like every other genre focuses on empowerment and horror is mainly a genre of depowerment#and you have to know this going in and you need the actual meat and structure of the game to support that#but no just throw superpowers in here for no reason. ignore the fact that the rest of the setting is highly realistic.

“Warwick launched his final bid at kingmaking, this time in alliance with Margaret of Anjou to restore Henry VI. He and Clarence landed in Devon while the King was in Yorkshire. Elizabeth (Woodville)’s initial reaction was to prepare for a siege in the Tower of London where she had already retired in expectation of the imminent birth of another child. But on 1 October news reached the capital that the King was preparing to set sail from Bishop’s Lynn, abandoning his kingdom. With no hope of imminent rescue, Elizabeth moved swiftly into the Sanctuary of Westminster Abbey with her mother and her daughters. She sent Abbot Thomas Millyng to advise the Mayor and Aldermen that she was surrendering the Tower, and consequently Henry VI, into their custody.
- J.L Laynesmith, “Elizabeth Woodville: The Knight’s Widow” in “Later Plantagenet and Wars of the Roses Consorts” / “The Last Medieval Queens, English Queenship 1445-1503″
"Elizabeth (Woodville) at first fortified the Tower of London against the approaching Lancastrians, but then decided instead to hand over custody of the Tower to the mayor and aldermen of London while she went into sanctuary at Westminster Abbey. It was a move which not only protected her daughters, who were with her, but also saved London from attack, which perhaps explains some of the praise she later received. The author of 'The Historic of the Arrival of Edward IV, who claimed to have witnessed much of what he recorded, stressed
the right great trowble, sorow, and hevines, whiche [the queen] sustayned with all manar pacience that belonged to eny creature, and as constantly as hathe bene sene at any tyme any of so highe estate to endure; in the whiche season natheles she had browght into this worldc, to the Kyngs grcatystc joy, a fayrc son.
...When Edward (IV) arrived, there was a scene of family bliss, in which the queen's vulnerability and domesticity could be contrasted with his heroism. The king was thus presented in an unusually human guise, which might appeal to readers familiar with such partings themselves throughout the civil wars:
The king comfortid the quene, and other ladyes ckc; His swete babis ful tendurly he did kys; The yonge prynce he behelde, and in his armys did bere. Thus his bale turnyd hym to blis.
#historicwomendaily#elizabeth woodville#history#edward iv#mine#the wars of the roses#i have a major issue with the way this is viewed by the vast majority of people tbh#for one: so many people conveniently forget that she was the one who controlled and was apparently fortifying the ToL#(which included the captive Henry VI btw)#while she was literally 8 months pregnant#she only gave it up after she learned that edward iv was also fleeing. it's SO important and interesting#and yet most people either don't know about it or conveniently flash forward to when she entered sanctuary#and my second issue: SO MANY PEOPLE INCLUDING HISTORIANS tend to treat her flight to sanctuary as some kind of indication of her personalit#when the truth of the matter is that SHE HAD NO OTHER CHOICE#as david baldwin rightly pointed out -as an englishwoman of the gentry she did not have foreign resources shelter or support at her disposa#the way every queen before her (in theory for lots of them as it wasn't required) possessed#nor was elizabeth a valuable heiress (like anne Neville or her own daughter eoy)#not to mention the very obvious fact that she was heavily pregnant (and gave birth just a month later) with three very young daughters#like. literally what else was she supposed to do? where else was she supposes to go?#her vulnerability was unprecedentedly horrific and people & historians don't emphasize the comparative degree of it as much as they should#at that point elizabeth literally didn't have any other options other than sanctuary. it wasn't much of a choice#it's strange because elizabeth's status has been discussed a lot in theory but rarely discussed in terms of how it affected her in PRACTISE#and this is a key example of that#among many others

Sometimes the fact that GRRM has, amid all his efforts to have nuance and a wide spectrum in his female characters and to deconstruct certain tropes, played the daddy's girl tomboy in contrast to the hostility or complete elimination of the female figures in her life trope completely straight over and over again, with basically every female warrior he wrote, from his female lead to two whole secondary POVs to one note extras (with the exception of the Mormont ladies yeah at least, maybe when we get more Alysane content I will be less grumpy about this), leaves me kind of bitterly shocked tbh
#have seen a very rightful post that people are vocal about ned favoring arya but not so about cat favoring sansa and while part of it is#yea some people can't read etc on the other its also true that the first is a living onpage subtle dynamic and plot relevance and#the second is. stock recollection of generic my mom told me to brush my hair :( episodes between characters who never interact#and that kinda contrasts with other things we know of cat: like she clearly did not overvalue primness in her childhood memories. she takes#to other willful ladies so quickly and this with arya already having plenty of negative female figures with sansa jeyne and septa mordane#idk i get why the fandom isnt too focused on this. not ideal for when what is being done is objective analysis of the text ofc. but i feel#ignoring lazy male writing is kind of a fandom tradition even if here the well is poisoned for any deviation from canon sadly#with the distortion at play from that side#i have not tagged the canon nor any character's full name so huh if you see this in any tag i apologize and that wasnt the intention#i also strive heavily in my writing to subvert this with asha as far as canon supports but one my mother raised me to be bold doesnt really#change the fact that is def a case of complete elimination of the female authority figure in practice#op

You know what? I really don't have the energy to engage with the fandom headcanon police anymore. If I see a harmless domestic headcanon that I don't personally share, I don't have the energy to get frothing mad about it bc why would I waste my time dictating what one is or is not allowed to do with their OC and their love interest(s) post-game. You want fluffy family times? Go for it! You want lifetimes of adventures! Go for it! You want a continuation to all the drama and angst? You go for it, my fucking friend. You want shit to go down the road of epic tragedy? That's your right and I support it.
What I don't support is the fucking fandom police telling you you're playing with your toys wrong.
Like I don't know how many times I need to say it, get a grip and let people live. It's all fantasy, it's all fiction. Play in your own sandbox and stop being miserable.
#fandom critical#seriously thought i left this shit in the da fandom#who has that kinda time & energy to get that worked up?#don't get so attached/obsessed with your own headcanon you start trying to dictate others'#“but mine is supported by canon” you say#is that so or is the canon in fact ambiguous neither supporting nor denying either interpretation?#idk man i'm here to have fun not wag my finger at people

[Start ID. A drawing of two scavengers from Rain World, one labelled Sanic and the other one Shrek. Sanic's fur is light brown, with darker extremities, a messy row of pale green spines down its back, and bright blue eyes. They sit contentedly, staring at the screen, with a couple grenades by its feet. Shrek has pale fur, a green head, hands, and feet, and brown eyes. It's facing to the right, with their arms splayed out and an explosive spear on their back. Beside each scavenger are a few woefully-compressed screencaps of their in-game appearance. End ID]
An ode to these silly beasts, who accompanied me on my second visits to Industrial and Chimney
#peridots-art#rain world#scavenger rain world#...usually only draw set characters of games and not. creatures. so that's new for me#absolutely love specbioing these guys though!! buggifying them scratches the right itch in my brain especially when they could reasonably#be buggy in canon!!#bugs#clarification on the ''shrek is maybe two guys'' thing ahead. first we'll argue for One Guy#1. both found in the same region at the same time 2. remarkably similar coloring and mannerisms (seemed to be the pack leader)#and now evidence supporting the two different guys theory:#1. travelled with a different pack of scavengers the second time vs when i found it 2. second time had slightly duller colors and noticably#longer horns (without the little gradient at the end)#so now you see why i didn't notice anything wrong until after reviewing the screenshots. BUT!!! secret third option!!!#the first one with the short horns was found first when i was using the entrance-to-industrial shelter#and the one i mostly relied on for reference was near the higher shelter. shrek numero dos. the canon shrek.#but i have a screenshot of shrek 1 in the place shrek 2 was found. hanging out with one of shrek 2's pack members no less.#conclusion: ???#ok now that that's ''settled''. don't let this all distract you from the fact that the simple act of SWITCHING TO THE SHADING LAYER#got me out of a four-month-long mental rut. i can't say that it was depression nor that i know anything about depression in the first place#but even if it wasn't very serious? it Sucked. even if it was just a nagging thought at the back of my mind my life was duller somehow#i started to feel a little unmotivated. lonely. anxious. like the days blend together. the things i liked weren't bringing as much joy#and all of that got worse recently. the main reason i haven't posted any art for like a month? art stopped being fun.#which is a TERRIBLE thing for someone like me who loves to draw so so much. so when everything that's been building up over the past months#just vanished completely? without warning? you better believe i teared up over a doodle of a scavenger for making me feel right again.#i'm overjoyed to be free of it. i'm hopeful again! i love myself again! i can fall in love with the world all over again!!!#i have no idea how this happened. but i have motivation and determination and i feel like i can change my life for the better now. if i try#maybe this was my normal but it's the striking opposite of what I've been feeling--i'm finally proud of my accomplishments! and of myself!!#which was something i couldn't say in earnest even before december.#and reader? i call you tag-wanderer for i have no way of knowing who you are. maybe a treasured mutual or maybe a stranger. but i love you.#and i hope you make your way out.
