There are two wolves inside me. One wants to embrace a new hobby in dance so I can be active and feel elegant and graceful and strong. This wolf wants to try something new and exciting, finally indulging in something I've always had an interest in.
The other experiences such frustrating emotions on a near daily basis that I want to go back to boxing, which is arguably easier to break into since I've already done it before. This wolf doesn't think of elegance, she just wants to fuck shit up until her body's so overworked and warm it fogs up car windows without having to do anything but sit inside.
Which one do I fucking feed??
#t. lee woes#like. do you know how hard it is trying to start something new that you've never done at all ever before??#and you've got no mode of transport until december - and ONLY if things go well#and now you're contemplating ways to mkre regularly earn a bit of money to afford the classes since paying weekly means my income#would wind up like $9 a fortnight since $40 would be spent by the end of each fortnight#it wouldn't necessarily be stagnant but it's not a desirable position to be in#I still have stuff saved up in a jar but I'm always hesitant to dip into that stuff#originally it was going toward a violin and lessons for that but I'm putting it off in favour of something a bit easier to dedicate time to#boxing is easy. in fact I could get support from my fam for that cause they like it#they don't see the point in dancing but I really want to at least try it and I'm worried about affording each term if I do end up liking it#also I already have boxing gear from before#but I'm hesitant about boxing at the moment for a lot of reasons I can't quite articulate but weirdly might have something to do with#internalised misogyny and biases... which is WILD cause my dad supports women learning martial arts#I can't do karate though I tried that and the class drove me a little insane#and it doesn't push you the same way boxing does and I really like to be pushed#if I don't leave sweating and hot and lungs and muscles aching then what's the point?? I can do mediocre exercise at home#and find more intense martial arts classes that also teach other kinds of self-defense#it's like... ehhhh#anyway but also I want to do something that's for fun that isn't so Serious Fight Mode#hence dancing#but I can only afford one not both and basically I'm grumpy today cause I was gonna trial a dance class - got ready and everything - but#my ride was suddenly unavailable. and I still can't stomach public transport. nor am I good at navigating it#it feels so different here compared to where I used to live - and I knew trains better not buses

Orion and the Dark was PHENOMENAL holy shit.
This might be one of the most high-concept, original animated films ever produced for kids. It's an innovative thought piece about human perception with endearing, complex characters that doesn't talk down on its audience...
...No wonder it didn't release in theaters.

curt and kim being dance partners in all the scenes at the castle is something that is so special to me

Imagine Bruce Wayne being stunt cast in a musical.
He starts a charity foundation supporting the arts and underprivileged artists, funding scholarships towards their fine arts/musical degrees and whatnot. Of course, part of the charity is actually promoting the work they do. Art galleries and musical productions alike are funded, but he wants to go further. As a part of the foundation's core, he wants to actually encourage a deep understanding of the arts among the citizens of Gotham.
So, for a limited run of maybe a month, Bruce Wayne allows himself to get stunt cast in a musical. He does this to promote the theatre group that his foundation is funding, of which all of the actors, orchestra, and production crew are recipients.
Tickets for his entire run sell out in minutes. Of course it did. Who wouldn't wanna get the chance to see the Bruce Wayne act and sing his heart out? As soon as the tickets sell out, he matches the total amount earned in donation.
Turns out, he's amazing. People are either surprised (as most stunt casts are known to be terrible) or not (because of course Bruce Wayne can sing and act). People are begging for slime tutorials and bootlegs of it online during his opening night. As soon as those go around, people begin petitioning for an album recording with him.
After his run, he decides to extend it for just a bit longer, this time making tickets free of charge so everyone gets a chance to see.

#okay but reading this Belloc essay on Austen really made something click in my mind#and it’s because of something he said#which is that women care more about what men think of them generally#(as a general rule. not all the time. etc.)#and men care more about the opinion of the one woman they care about#like women do care (as a first instinct at least) what every man she meets thinks of her#but men are mostly indifferent. until they’re NOT.#which makes women more vulnerable to a greater number of people#but men are MORE painfully vulnerable to the woman whose opinion they care about#and I don’t actually know that that vulnerability only extends to a woman they are attracted to/feel romantic feelings for#I think if they just think well of you as a person you (a woman) have a lot of power over them#which is sooooo interesting and makes so much sense!!!! and is something I’ve sort of been dancing around with teaching#like. a lot of the boys I teach come to care about what I think about them#which doesn’t mean they all have a crush on me. though that step can be super easy and super small#hence the need for the boundaries of steel etc. but it does mean that they care what I think about them!#and I’ve always felt that instinctively and felt that I had to be so gentle with them because the power to crush them is mine if I so choose#don’t let me overstate it. it doesn’t happen all the time or anything close to it. but the thing about me being a teacher is that#they are forced to know me not just in a surface-level way. simply because I spend so much time with them#and talk to them a lot!#ANYWAY. enough about me but yeah this hit me so hard and of course exceptions exist#and/or endless variations on this exist because people are unique and surprising and also everything is changing all the time#etc. etc. but there is something to this I think! and you know what#it’s so interesting because that base-level instinct for women (allowing it to be a thing I mean) can be grown out of#I have trained myself out of/maturity has helped me leave behind that immediate female instinct#of being hurt at the idea that this random waiter (for example) is indifferent towards me. I’ve come to accept it#the instinct is still there!!! because imo women are always scanning and searching and sizing up. and also we are so open to being won over#if that makes sense? which is why insta comments complaining about how only good looking men get away with things like. PLEASE.#there are so many medium-ugly men who get married. it’s the average because the average woman is prettier than the average man#(this is not an insult) women CAN be and usually are so open to being surprised. won over. moved by the simple fact that a guy likes them#and men are not like that. but my point is: men don’t grow out of caring if they care. when they care they care sooooooo much. anyways yeah

Kitakata looked surprised, apparently so caught up in his teasing he forgot she was there.
“We work together at the MRC.” Yagami tried to deny it.
She smiled. “That’s why you’re so close, then.”
Yeah, she definitely had the wrong idea. Unfortunately, if he tried denying it any more vehemently, it might make her even more sure of her assessment. Or he’d offend Kitakata and unintentionally begin an argument right here. He could hardly subject them to that on purpose.
“Ah, well,” He dropped his arm from Yagami. “You know.”
No, she didn’t. And Yagami didn’t either.

As someone who has to study Japanese religion/history as part of her degree and roughly knows the origin of that phrase, that one factoid has been sending my brain at 120 km/h
Yet I STILL cannot think of a good name for my funny mcyt death game theory “orz
