#There are a few Saint Motel songs that -don't- really suit something that either Margie nor Raf would write #and so I am less keen on them for it.#but if I am being honest...ALL of Saint Motels songs are a pretty good and fun listen lmfao even the ones that don't suit.#and so all the ones that do suit them are extra cherished lmfao #there aren't really any other bands that adequately capture the sound and style of TBH #(all the instrumental jazzy stuff they do is under TBF--so yanno... i played some songs on guitar at my parents house and my family were super nice about it. they said they liked my finger tapping and that it sounded cool and then my mum was like you should join a band. it was really fun and a really nice day. i didnt mess up any of the solos/big bits in front of them which was a huge relief

#Hhhhhh this is such a good episode.#I don't have any particular strong feeling for Fukuzawa nor Ranpo but this is a very good episode.#The pacing is great the tension and ease are well distributed as much as action and exposition are.#The animation is spectacular and detailed. The drawings beautiful. The imperfect black and white is original‚ compelling and eyecatching #Truly something that shows the animators were given budget and enough time to really think it through. Please more of this #Off to more personal notes I clearly remember the moment in my dorm room I watched the bsd anime–#come back for the first time after three years and the reveal of the untold origins novel being adapted that came with it.#It's such a sweet memory. Gonna get in trouble at church because I genuinely don’t think “Christian” media should exist as a genre. I think Christians should write good and even excellent stories about the nature of the human condition and if they truly follow Jesus the evidence of that joy and wisdom and goodness will pervade whatever they make whether they like it or not. Stop worrying about what you want people to learn like it’s a lesson and just say something true and beautiful.

And as an audience, stop being afraid of stories that might not agree with you and seek things that are good and true and beautiful.

The minecraft movie trailer looks terrible (as has been thoroughly discussed) but at the very least I am hoping and praying that when the movie gets released and looks exactly like the trailer that it will FINALLY put to rest the constant "it's bad as a marketing ploy!" shit that has been everywhere since the Sonic movie 🙏

#no i do not think the sonic movie producers made an entire fake trailer and fake toys and fake posters #with a bad design #intentionally to drum up bad publicity #i do not think they intentionally faked an interview with the series creator where he commented that he didn't like sonic's design #nor do i think they intentionally delayed the release date several months just as a marketing stunt #and no i do not think they spent all this money on the minecraft trailer and casting and advertising and licensing a beatles song #just to reveal something else.#And even if they do #what are you expecting. is it REALLY going to fix the movie #sonic 1 still had a pretty mid plot even with the redesign #guys sometimes execs are just stupid. we know this. cmon.

Hello! I just saw you post some Maitre Gims, and I know you like Stromae, so I was wondering what are french/french speaking singers that you like the most? You may have answered smtg like that already but i couldn't find it and I am, as always, very curious ^^ -☆

mc solaar!!!!!! and stromae for sure. and i had a whole renan luce phase in college. otherwise i mostly just listen to individual songs and don't tend to know a ton by the same artist, but i've liked some individual songs by christine and the queens, lous and the yakuza, tryo, kana, bénabar, vianney. some other artists but that's a sample. currently only know two french-language songs by mika but i like them. always looking for recs if you have any!

#i do not have an established discovery pipeline for french music it's just been like #1) friend gives me a mix cd in high school that includes mc solaar and some other artists (thank u jesse <3)#2) professor gives me a mix cd in college that includes renan luce and some other artists #3) i listen to these on repeat for approx. 20 years and get a couple of mc solaar's and renan luce's albums #4) a kind follower on here sent me a spotify playlist last year #that's it that's the pipeline lol #oh i forgot 3.5) discover papaoutai by stromae in idk 2015 or something. but i have no recollection of how i found that song #my experience is neither broad nor deep in this arena #french #music #asks #not anon #i've finally moved on from listening to the same three stromae songs because i've mostly learned the words #so now i'm trying to learn the words to some other songs including the maître gims song i rbed earlier #my problem is that i don't really know what a song is about until i look up the lyrics #sometimes i can get the gist but usually not. so i get a song stuck in my head and then look up the words so i can sing along #and that's when i learn what it's about. and too bad if the subject is not one i want to have stuck in my head lol #got an mc solaar / vianney collab stuck in my head yesterday. super catchy. i look up the words. it's about suicide????#which i am maybe not in the right headspace to be singing about right now. but here we are. whoops!

there's a certain quality the harmonies of like... early to mid 2000s alt rock has. which i am obsessed with... like i wanna do that. i NEED to figure out how to write harmonies that sound like that

#ari opinion hour #i sort of understand it but not necessarily well enough to do it on command #i think i sort of achieved the sound of it with my blaseball winter exchange song i did for snow but specifically only in the very last bit #like only with the 'im not alive anymore' part #(which sidenote i wish id had the second half faster + w more drive but its not like that was like a full recording which i could do)#i think i just need my music to have more teeth in general cause it scratches an itch that i think i must have developed due to some aspect #of music school. its probably my dissatisfaction with the attitudes in the classical world #<- which understand i say that in the same way that like my jazz prof does. the classical world doesnt have enough teeth nor enough #understanding of the way in which music is like. another art. and art needs to be able to have teeth and use elements normally regarded as #''undesirable'' on purpose because art is there to make you feel emotions and not just the positive ones and not just sadness or anger in #terms of the negative ones #art is there to make u feel ALL extant emotions and that includes boredom disgust fear jealousy pity cowardice apathy overwhelmedness etc #also the classical world i find often forgets what the word ''play'' means #i am of the opinion that perfection is a waste of time if i wanted perfect i'd ask a computer to do it for me. i want real #anyway. i forgot what this post was even about lol point is i need to figure out how to write harmonies that have that soaring quality that #like. you can hear it in like helena by mcr and wake me up by evanescence and stuff. and frankly most of the songs on three cheers for swee #revenge which i am listening to now for the first time. i need to learn more about this stuff maybe ill listen to the evanescence album tha #song is from next.#or something i should really be working on my essay but theres no way i wont have it done in time which is good i think i just mostly have #to worry about sources and stuff but even that should be relatively easy i think
