Are there any disabled people you care about in your life? Maybe you are disabled yourself, or some of your friends or family members are? I know my life would be immeasurably more empty and sad without my disabled friends and family members in it.

Nour Ashour's young son, Muhammed, is disabled. Muhammed needs regular treatment and physical therapy. However, Nour @noor-yashour has been struggling to get him the treatment he needs because of the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Medical treatment and physical therapy are very expensive, but without them, Muhammed's condition is deteriorating.

Nour and her family have been living through over a year of war, struggling with hunger, exhaustion, extreme temperatures, trauma, and fear, as well the struggles to get the treatment Muhammed needs to thrive. They have been fundraising since July, but donations keep stagnating, and they are struggling to afford what they need.

Hi everyone. I've been asked by Nour Ashour (@noor-yashour) to write a post and share her story with you.

Nour is a 29-year-old mother with two children: Nazmi and Muhammad. Her child Muhammad is only 4 years old, and he suffers from a severe condition that causes severe muscle weakness, impeding his ability to walk, move, or even stand and sit on his own.

Muhammad's condition is so severe that he requires continuous physical therapy and physiotherapy to even be able to control his muscles to move! But all the physical therapy centres in Gaza are close, and the medication he needs is rare and hard to obtain. And on top of all that, they have to deal with the frequent bombardments, the lack of food and water, and the spread of diseases in Gaza!

Muhammad may not be able to gain control of his muscles and walk if he does not return to his physical therapy sessions! He needs to evacuate out of Gaza immediately to complete his treatment!!

I actually have a little cousin who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy, a condition similar to Muhammad's that also causes muscles weakness. I cannot emphasize enough the strain such condition can cause to both the child and the parent, as medication and treatments are both rare and expensive (my aunt did a lot of campaigning to be able to afford the medication for my cousin, and that was without having to deal with a literal genocide!). It is absolutely painful to watch your child be unable to even sit on his own because his muscles are too weak to support even such simple action! Please give Nour and Muhammad more support!

i can't believe how we are going about our days as if everything is normal. there are people being killed in gaza right now. if they're not being murdered by weapons, they're slowly being killed by starvation and disease and injuries and lack of medical aid. we're acting like we're helpless and that there is nothing we can do.

but we can do something, we can help someone.

mohammed is a little boy who suffers from muscle relaxation since birth. he needs physical therapy and medicines. due to the blockade he hasn't been able to get medical aid as it is very expensive. he needs to evacuate ASAP as his condition is very dire. it is heartbreaking to see such a little boy suffer so much.

I'm such an awkward weirdo honestly. Like you will not believe the extent to which I can fumble a conversation.

For example, I keep mixing up people with the same names. Two guys named Steve? Yeah I'll get it wrong, I'll hear about one Steve and assume it's the Steve I know, for some reason. Especially if they have anything in common. I see someone named Noor fundraising on another website, I immediately embarrass myself in DMs with Noor on this website.

And speaking of the person I embarrassed myself talking to: Noor Yashour is fundraising to save her son's life. Muhammad already needed physical therapy before Israel started their genocide in Gaza, and now it's a matter of securing absolute necessities in the midst of the total breakdown of everything. As long as the Rafah crossing remains closed, it's a matter of hanging on and securing survival day by day, while preparing to get out.

That requires money, because everything is expensive in an active warzone, actually. Noor and her family are dependent on donations for their daily survival, and long term for Muhammad to get the healthcare he needs.
