Ness shifted so they were more comfortably laying together, Pokey sprawled over his lap as he slowly pet over the other teens head. "I called it. You're a cat!"

"Get some rest, okay? I'll call my mom later to tell her I'm spending the night!" He chirped out happily, glad that Pokey could get some nonfitful sleep.

Pokey gasped as he felt something touch his cheek. When he realized that it had been Ness who suddenly decided to kiss him, he let out a snicker.

"Eugghhh! Gross!" He groaned. "Quit slobbering on me, you big weirdo!" He playfully shoved his friend aside.

Our Dogs, Ourselves: How We Live With Dogs (Young Readers’ Edition), written and illustrated by Alexandra Horowitz,  Simon & Schuster, 9781534410121, 2019

This book won’t tell you how to train your dog, but it will help you understand puzzling behavior in both your best friend and yourself.

Not your usual dog book! Horowitz runs the Dog Cognition Lab at Barnard College and is the author of several books on canine behavior. She’s more interested in what our interactions with our pets say about us than she is in producing a standard dog owner’s manual. Why do we talk to dogs? Why do we ascribe imaginary motives to dog behavior that have alternative (and often more logical) explanations? She also includes some eye-opening historical information about the emergence of dog training, dog beds, dog beds, dog food, and dog names, all of which illuminate the canine-human relationship. She explains her opposition to our obsession with purebred dogs and her ambivalence toward mandatory spay and neutering of rescue dogs. The information is compelling and clearly written and the results are a refreshingly different kind of dog book. Occasional bold font sections signal either anecdotes from Horowitz’s personal life or reports from her lab work. Horowitz is a bit of a dog zealot and her constant self-referencing sometimes carries the annoying whiff of superiority. Readers may come away with the belief that sleeping with dogs and looking the other way when they roll in poop is perfectly acceptable. Not in my house.

this is so minor and tbh not a big deal but it just keeps coming to me and i really think u and ur community would appreciate this most. can't stop thinking about tua klaus meeting god and how perfect it is that god's portrayed as a little girl, but imagine: her appearance changes every time. she's not the same little girl every time. she looks like a different little girl, maybe even looks like one that's currently alive (hello young actress that played claire how fuking COOL would that be) and yada yada commentary on young girls being the driving force for imagination and ingenuity in the world. idk but also what a fun opportunity for both fluidity both fictional and nonfitional and also young girls getting to play god how appropriate right

Despite my cat having to stay overnight in the ER cause I want her to see a doctor— today’s been alright. She wasn’t blocked she’s on meds I’m gettin a free ride tomorrow to pick her up—

And like five older people have successfully clocked me as NB/Trans without being rude about it? Asked pronouns and/or corrected themselves before claiming my gender (they assume at first but then correct themselves). For a day I didn’t wear a binder cause nonfit & it’s too hot— feels good. Idk if it’s because this is ~Portland~ or because people just becoming more Aware… but it’s nice.

Last weekend we got out of town for some exploration. We checked out a new-to-us-brewery, went east to see Big Trees in Calaveras, wine tasting in Murphys, a Buddhist temple and statue garden in Stockton, became members at a winery closer to home, and ventured to Monterey Bay to see the aquarium. 

It was a great long weekend!  I stayed on track, goal wise, staying active and enjoying myself without letting all of my hard work fall by the wayside.

Everything in my life is better than it has literally ever been. I’m tired of feeling tired and I’m tired of feeling sad and I’m so fucking relieved to feel the way I do now. I’m grateful to have the people in my life that I do now. I’m amazed by all of their incredible talents and warm hearts and just good humanness, you know? I’m grateful. And I keep telling myself I’m grateful to avoid feeling as bad as I’ve felt before. I keep telling myself I’m grateful because I’m tired of fighting myself, I’m tired of getting in my own way. I’m grateful, I’m fucking grateful.

Sometimes I give up on the fitted sheet and don't bother with it, but I wrap up in the nonfitted sheet bc most blankets only really keep you warm if you use a sheet under them

I just assumed nobody really used the non fitted sheet that came in sheet sets and it was just in there so we could all pretend to be more adult than we are but everybody KNEW no one used it but @thelawfulchaotic thinks I am actually insane:
