tbh bioware was cooking when they made cad'halash thaig harbour ancient elven refugees and be destroyed by their own people for it. and then 1000s of years later have a scattered remnant of that thaig pick up an anchor forged by elven hands and made of a titan heart, and then befriend the person who tranquilised the titans, and then have them change his heart and realise they were people and they deserved better, and then have them advocate for his redemption even as the world seems set on destroying him. solas and cadash your friendship is connected by strings of fate like no other.

I know (seriously trust me I know) that Veilguard isn't perfect. But I've gone so many years (9 of them to be exact) with overwhelmingly agonizing Solavellan art and my heart actually cannot contain the little start it gets every time I scroll and see HAPPY fan art come across my dash.

The dramatic reaching turning into embraces so entwined you can *feel* how afraid they are to let go just yet? Incredible.

The "I'm missing my other half" muted colors brightening over a duo walking shoulder to shoulder instead of separated by a dark forest or some shit? Life changing.

Lavellan is SMILING. *SOLAS* is smiling.

And even if that's all of nature healing that I get, I'll take it because it's nice to see the artists (and Lavellan) are healing

Finally decided to post my cringefail guy. It was drawn in like february? i wanted to add more stuff in one post but oh well. i need to establish my own lore before the veilguard. my canon my rules

UN LAVELLAN (he/him), 31 y.o., knight enchanter

His name is originally spelled "An", but he prefers and uses "Un" as its pronunciation is more clear to others.

He was supposed to be First to the Keeper, but Lavellan clan had two mages and he knew that he was essentially moved from that position due to his interest in blood magic. He already felt alienated from his clan, and this only strengthened that feeling, which lead him to live on his own for some time in search of more knowledge about the world and magic.

He returned to the clan at some point and was eventually sent to the conclave as a spy due to his experience with shems. Un also initially thought it was because the clan thought of him as disposable. 

His backstory is similar to Merrill's, but they cope with things differently. Generally, Merrill is more grounded, Un on the other hand shielded himself with a huge ego and a delusional belief of his own uniqueness from ostracism from all directions until it all went down. In this worldstate, both Sabrae and Lavellan clans are dead. In my head the inquisition had terrible losses too.

The loathsome Solasfucker. Tried to search Solas with blood magic after Trespasser. It's a whole other can of worms. don't ask. or maybe ask? Everyone disapproved. Very conflicted on what he feels towards Solas. Years later was able to sort of move on... still is A Bitter Ex (?)

i just think it would have been neat if if you don't use The Ultimate Salvation of Felassan rune in the boss battle against Elgar'nan. what if you could instead use it to summon a temporary wisp of him a la the Mythal fragment to talk down Solas instead of just relying on Mythal's. there was more than one modern death he regretted is all i'm saying you know. more than one possibly-dead-possibly-not ancient spirit elf he still had ties to who was an integral part of his past and played more of a role in his healing than his harm hmmmmmmmmmmm

I love making up random Force effects. Cal is purging the dark from himself and it results in the gold sith eyes literally melting out. There’s a lot more Evil Sith Liquid then iris’ could reasonably hold, but the dark side is a pathway to many abilities some may consider unnatural ;)

veilguard solavellan is also so boring like imagine building up this relationship for 10 years in your head after trespasser with the passionate glowy eye kiss, screaming after him that she’ll save him, solas being gentler to ease her pain as the mark is consuming her only to have the conclusion be solas mentioning lavellan once, lavellan’s entire character being about her love for someone who’s relationship with another woman is the plot of the whole sequel to the story they were a main character, and when it really came down to it, they weren’t even able to stop solas as it takes another woman to do it, a plain kiss and him not even asking her to come with him she has to insist and whatever trick weekes says after the game has already dropped is entirely irrelevant bc they did not make what he says clear in the game proper so it all seems like damage control
