one thing that is never represented in the da games is: mages are very obviously Mage Looking, since no one else carries a staff around, and it's played as a joke when dalish from the chargers is like "uhhh i'm an archer! that's my bow :)"

but! this is what unstrung bows look like.

and most of the time, when not using them, bows are supposed to be left unstrung so they don't get damaged. so, it should be possible for a mage to wander around with a slightly wavy stick with a subtle decorative charm/crystal/whatever attached, and say "excuse me ser templar, that's my emotional support bow, for hunting, i just took the string out :^)" and it might even actually work as a bow!

dalish elves are WINNING with this one weird trick, that combines archery, magic, and lying to humans <3
