The reader went on to try and get a job - after getting declined time and time again they finally landed one! In theory the start was great, but they never got the training that was promised and was thrown to the hot water instantly, leading coworkers to start to hate them due to them not knowing what to do at all. Now, within 1 and a half months, the reader has had 7 panic attacks already, and feels like crying anytime they have to go - they have to endure it for at least two more weeks, but they find it hard to do without any sort of comfort or anything, and reader being reader, they didn't tell their partner - they were proud of them for getting a job, so why would they ruin that happiness by saying it's actually terrible? But out of 7 panic attacks, at least one had to be found out. The chances were too slim at this point, the more u cry the more you're likely to be found out. And now, the reader had a panic attack after their boss texted them another passive aggressive message regarding something they were meant to do, but again, no one told them that they were meant to do it, leading to more anger from the work environment.

-you slowly listened and as soon as you could talk, he asked you what happened, to which to told him everything. about the job, about the training, the colleagues, and most importantly, unfortunately, your shitty boss.

-"oh, my dear... i'm so sorry to hear that.. why didn't you tell me?.. wait, ignore that stupid question, i won't ask you anything now.. here, let me hold you..." he held you just as you were as fragile as glass that might just break with a wrong move. so he held you.

-he rocked you back and forth. he told you that you're not alone. he kissed the top of your head.

-he won't let you feel alone. he won't let you be alone. he won't allow you to think you're alone.

-"i'll fight this battle with you, mon amour... no matter how long it takes.." with a kiss to your forehead.

-he needs you to know that he cares for you as much as he does for his siblings, and that his heart aches breaks for you.

-he wants you to understand that you can trust him, no matter who other people see him as. "fatui lyney", "greatest magician in all of teyvat" because to you, he's just "lyney"

-he'll confront your boss once you feel calmer. 'Father' will get involved but you don't need to know that.

-"shh, let me hold your hand. breathe. slowly. i'm here. you're not alone. squeeze my hand if it makes you feel better. don't think about anything right now, focus on your breathing and me." his usual persona is gone now. he's serious.

-he WANTS to help you. he doesn't want to lose you like the rest. nahida had taught him many things because he's been there too.

-after you calm down a bit, he asks you what's wrong if you feel comfortable telling him.

-once you tell him, he feels his nonexistent heart ache for you. he wishes he could help you with a snap of his fingers. but he can only use his words.

-"i'll talk to you boss, don't worry, i'll tell him how much of a jerk he is, and how he should never breathe again— nevermind, do you need something? water, food, or something?" nobody knows about this side of him but when he shows it to you, you just know how much he actually cares.

This is not an attack on you at ALL I’m sorry for moving this to it’s own post I just have Opinions™️ and I need be weird about this book rq I’ll tag you anyway in case you’re interested like at all in my dumb little opinion @adrianfridge-main

I just woke up but DISAGREED Victor’s complaining was completely and utterly justified tbh (bro fucked up astronomically big time and as a result his entire family is dead, I think he’s earned the right to be in despair), Victor’s biggest flaw was the fact he stitched together a mass of corpses and brought it to life and then told nobody, Victor’s biggest flaw is avoidance – and part of that is understandable, it’s a common trauma response, but Victor should have been open about how he felt about Elizabeth, he should have worked through his feelings about his family and expressed them, he should have confronted what he did with the creature and told someone, told Clerval, Victor’s biggest flaw isn’t that he’s in despair, it’s that he rarely explains that despair to others – and it’s understandable why he doesn’t, but it’s still wrong, because that’s how he hurts people.

He keeps parts of himself hidden – as arguably represented by the creature himself. He begins to isolate himself for really the first time, he has a lot of space away from people he’s been around his entire life for really the first time, and it’s fairly safe to say that psychological things begin to build up, as he builds the creature, almost represented by him – whatever interpretation you have of these knew-found realisations can greatly vary depending on the reading of the book you have, but personally I think it’s mostly how he feels about himself and his family.

I don’t think Victor wanted to marry Elizabeth at all – and I’ll probably make a whole catch-all rant on that point soon enough, but I think once he actually begins to get some time in isolation to think about things, he starts thinking about his mother, he starts thinking about Elizabeth, he starts considering all these complicated feelings, that he genuinely does love his mother, but that she’s effectively forcing him into something he doesn’t want to do at all, surely she’d understand if he just explained – but she’s dead, he can’t explain, it’s too late for that. Would she have accepted his explanations in the first place, or would he have disappointed her? This was his mother’s only dying wish, the last thing she left to him, the last thing he had to remember her by – and I do believe Victor genuinely loved his mother, even if I’m also absolutely of the opinion that she was a terrible person. Instead of coming to a conclusion about this, Victor spirals, it builds up, he tells no-one – I don’t believe he would’ve told Henry – and this coincides with the creation of the creature. His dead mother’s final wish being the definitive thing haunting him, and the representation of his spiral and all of his emotions about that being a mass of sentient corpses – seems accurate.

Following this argument, Victor sees Clerval again after all those years, and he collapses from the weight of it all – he rants about it vaguely, but he hides it, and he continues to do so, ignoring it, and that’s when it slowly begins to become harmful, purposefully picking off the people he loves and hurting them.

It’s important to remember still, of course, that the monster isn’t metaphorical, he is real – it’s just that a lot of heights of Victor’s despair and tendency to spiral into his own thoughts coincide well with the “building” of the creature, or with him becoming more vocally demanding of Victor or harmful to his loved ones, so he tends to be a pretty good approximation for a physical representation of Frankenstein’s mental state and guilt. And effectively, Frankenstein desperately trying to hide the creature, fumbling with promises to make further mistakes to push him away only to come to the realisation that they’re wrong, but still having to deal with the consequences of them, instead of just from the start being open and honest, even if that honestly was “I need some time to think, and I don’t know how I feel right now.” – that’s his biggest flaw. And the people Victor hurts is really best represented through Elizabeth herself – I hold the very very strong opinion that Victor and Elizabeth are both victims of what was pretty basically just grooming, and again, avoidance is a very common trauma response, but Elizabeth tried to confront Victor on multiple occasions, sending that letter asking about how he feels about the marriage, saying it doesn’t need to happen if he doesn’t want it to – instead he misinterprets this as his poor dear cousin in despair second-guessing his affections for her, (very likely because of things his mother probably told him as a child), and decides to “put her mind at ease” by telling her that he will marry her, despite his actions saying completely otherwise and Elizabeth herself pretty openly not really wanting to marry him.

He’s gone through so much at this point, feels himself responsible for so many deaths, and decides the final thing he needs to do before he dies is not to be a disgrace to his parents as well, or any more of a disgrace than he already is, in his eyes.

And I also definitely have a queer reading of the novel – I genuinely do really hold to the interpretation of Frankenstein and Clerval’s relationship being romantic, and from there and concerning the creation of the bride, Henry really is effectively murdered as a punishment for Victor doubting the role given to him – almost like his doubts and guilt, as embodied by the creature, overwhelm him in that way. “Ah! my father, do not remain in this wretched country; take me where I may forget myself, my existence, and all the world.” He’s pushing away the memory of Clerval’s death, repressing it, avoiding it, and that is extremely important for how he shifts his tone with Elizabeth and puts up that fake demeanour of wanting to marry her, because he thinks it’ll make her happy even though both of them describe dreading the wedding, even given the context for Victor and even by Elizabeth, who doesn’t know what he dreads – in order to forget Clerval, he assigns himself to the role given to him as a child by marrying Elizabeth and gives up whatever he hope he had.

All possibly discouraged from Clerval being murdered as a response to Victor refusing to finish the Bride and subject her to the same fate as him and Elizabeth to the Creature, a pact made without her knowledge or consent, an arranged marriage. Where has spiting that tradition led him? Where has him standing up to the shroud of his mother’s dying wishes, hanging over him the entire novel thus far, led him, by refusing to force the Bride into an arranged marriage with the Creature, as he was with Elizabeth? To the death of the one man he truly loved. So, can at least “make his dear cousin happy” and not die spiting the one thing he was meant to do – make his mother proud from beyond the grave by marrying Elizabeth.

And even then, adding to my argument of the creature being a physical embodiment of Frankenstein‘s guilt and dread – that building tension approaching the wedding, Victor being convinced the creature is going to kill him, but he kills Elizabeth – that’s a metaphor if I’ve ever seen it.

Even on the subject of grieving Clerval, Victor won’t sort his feelings, he spirals and tries so desperately to avoid them. “We had resolved not to go to London, but to cross the country to Portsmouth, and thence to embark for Havre. I preferred this plan principally because I dreaded to see again those places in which I had enjoyed a few moments of tranquillity with my beloved Clerval. I thought with horror of seeing again those persons whom we had been accustomed to visit together, and who might make inquiries concerning an event.”

I wonder what would happen if he did go through London, if he did meet those people again. Would things have turned out differently? Would he finally have been given a sense of comfort and clarity through mutual grief, as nobody so far since Henry’s death and for the rest of the book, except the creature, ironically, has grieved for Clerval except for Frankenstein. If he met people who took as fondly to Clerval as he did, at least on meeting him briefly, who would have sympathy towards Victor – would he finally have that space to grieve for him in a healthy way, to be comforted by people who at least vaguely understand a fraction of his anguish?

But he doesn’t, and instead he avoids the subject – confining himself to his union with Elizabeth, and hurting her because of that.

And even to his grave, Frankenstein doesn’t stop to consider his feelings properly, and by that I mean he doesn’t sort them with anyone, he doesn’t admit the dread he feels surrounding his family and his late wife, he doesn’t stay with Ernest and talk through things with him, bonding to his last remaining family member in his grief – instead he spirals again, chasing the monster and telling no one, except for Walton. And even then, he doesn’t discuss, he monologues – he doesn’t talk through his emotions with a trusted friend, he “tells his story” to an eager man who is mostly overwhelmingly curious, rather than genuinely concerned.

Victor Frankenstein’s biggest flaw is not that he complains. It isn’t that he’s in despair – it’s that he won’t articulate that despair properly. It’s that he avoids it and keeps it hidden out of pain, but he shouldn’t. Because the subject of that despair actively effects the people around him, and by extension, his despair actively effects the people around him. Elizabeth is left hanging by a man who doesn’t truly love her and won’t talk to her, forcing her into a marriage she doesn’t really want out of duty. The creature is cast aside and abandoned, viewed mostly by Victor as a representation of his guilt and shame, of his worst mistakes, although he expresses feeling pity for it fairly often, he still hides and shuns it, fearing it. Clerval is murdered as a representation of that hope for a better future, the one man who ever truly loved him being snatched away, and instead of standing his ground, coming to the conclusion that he won’t abide by his mother’s wishes, that he was right in his destruction of the bride, grieving Clerval with those people in London and using his death as a catalyst to not let it happen again, perhaps then meeting Walton at a later date if he chose to stay in England or otherwise by chance under different circumstances, writing to Elizabeth telling her his true feelings and confronting the creature properly, pulling a Christine Daaé there except like. Parentally instead of romantically. and showing his creation sympathy and compassion rather than just feeling it, and being open about everything; instead of that, Victor spirals, and Victor hurts everyone left.

And it’s understandable why he does – it’s realistic. The hero doesn’t always know exactly what to do and magically save the day by making all the right decisions – people don’t know what do do or how to make all the right decisions. Victor isn’t just complaining “woe-is-me” style, Victor is in genuine severe psychological torment and distress, and his actions reflect that. He is, to an extent, a victim of circumstance – and his circumstances haven’t made things easy for him. In his grief over Clerval, he’s led back to Geneva by his father instead of through London, and follows easily. He’s forced into a situation where he has to marry his cousin by his mother, since young childhood. When he tries to be assertive in what he wants, he’s punished for it every time. In real life, people don’t fix their situation easily like a superhero and pull themselves on their feet like that. They don’t get over everything that’s ever happened to them easily. They need space – and Frankenstein did not have space. If he wanted to fix his life, he would have had to actively fight for it. And he didn’t have any fight left. He didn’t want to live. He didn’t have any idea of what to do next. He didn’t see a future. Any time he tried to fight against what was expected of him, he was punished for it, so now that his life was effectively over, all he wanted to do was assign himself to the roles he was “meant” to perform, and not disappoint his family.

But it’s still a flaw, and it still hurts people. Victor was still in the wrong for what he did. For avoiding everything, for building the creature to begin with, that was Victor’s fault. But it’s understandable why he does what he does, and he’s a very sympathetic character because of that.

I've been debating whether or not I should go public with this, but I don't feel comfortable calling myself anti radqueer anymore. I've spent time listening to RQs, and though there are definitely cases of 'yeah that person is fucked' a lot of them are just people trying to cope with the deck of cards they were given. So this is a RQ safe space, even if my older posts don't reflect that. I'm RQ neutral and pro transID. I never really cared about people earnestly being transID, but let my discomfort with 'transautistic' etc folks get the best of me... that changes now. I say this as someone who's """cis""" autistic, someone who has BIID, someone who is supposedly affected by RQ ideals. I know even being neutral on the subject will get me shit, but I would rather be honest. I'd rather get the mass unfollowing over with. Because how someone's atypical dysphoria manifests isn't my business, nor is somebody's coping mechanism. It's nobody's business but theirs, and something I see in anti spaces is just... a complete lack of understanding of that. I see some real gross shit from antis, all in the name of 'morality,' and it's something that I cannot align with anymore.

I get the point that's being made here, but also I think that if disabled people are asking you to stop calling the one disabled character in the musical a freak (or even freaky with the special font) then just stop? it's not going to kill you to stop making one single joke about the character when there are so many other similar jokes you could make. like there's such a history of people calling disabled people freaks or freaky because of their disabilities that seeing the word in association with the disabled character obviously isn't going to be fun. even more so when he's literally being singled out as "the freak" of the group, which is basically what you've said here.

yes, all of the cast is unique and freaky in their own way, so why single out the disabled character? "constance freakwood" "mischa freakchinski" "ocean o'connell freakenburg" "ricky potts" like why not just call him "freaky potts"? why does he need to be separated from the rest of the choir and singled out? out of the entire choir, his name works best with the format!! if holding off on that joke would literally kill you then at least include him!

i know that on the surface, ricky's song is the weirdest by far. even noel's song isn't as weird as wanting to make love to anthropomorphic cats. and i'm not going to bother to delve into the actual theme and subtext of his song, because it doesn't really matter in this case.

the only point that i want to make is that it's unfair to single out the disabled character as "the freak of freaks", even as a joke, and especially when actual disabled people have asked you to stop. like did none of you listen to his backstory? he says after his song that "nobody ever listened" to him when he was alive, and you're going to do the same thing to the disabled fans of rtc?

i know that being called out isn't a fun experience. but when somebody is speaking from lived experience and asking you to stop doing something, then the best possible thing to do is to just stop. there's no point in trying to explain your thought process or defend your actions. chances are, they already understand why it happened, and it's still hurtful. be graceful, apologise (or even just stop! you don't need to make a big deal, just don't try and justify it and don't do it again!) and move on with your life.

all it takes is literally one word. and then as long as you actually take "sorry" to mean "i won't do it again" and not "oh shit i'd better get this guy off my back rq" you can go about your day, confident in the knowledge that you are a better person for it.

nobody can be perfect. nobody can predict that what they see as a light-hearted joke is going to have weight to somebody else. if your father was eaten by an octopus when you were younger and i made a joke about how much i'd like to be a man-eating octopus, it would probably upset you. i wouldn't be able to see that coming, but i would be able to control my response. this is the same concept. you might not understand why calling ricky potts a freak is funny, but it's so easy to stop once people tell you that it's hurtful! you don't need to relate in order to accommodate.

small rant about Ricky Potts from Ride the Cyclone

So yesterday, (or the day before) I saw a few posts that were like "RTC if they were ____" and it was usually "RTC if they were freaky" or "RTC if they were gay" aka changing their names like FREAKel (noel) and GAYcean (ocean)

But the thing is, they usually don't change Ricky's name, which in my opinion is pretty funny. But some people read this as making fun of his disability (since I'm pretty sure in the musical he's the only one with a physical disability and people are thinking they're calling him gay and freaky already solely because of that)

Honestly, it's really easy to see that Ricky is pretty freaky and funny character. He's unique, all of the cast is. But if you look into his personality you could tell that it's NOT about his crutches or his inability to speak (? that's what i remember it's been a while since I've watched RTC)

Like seriously, if he's singing about breeding space cats, thats kinda freaky yk.. plus even with the gay jokes, its OBVIOUSLY joking and not being homophobic or abelist at all. Hell, Noel is CAnONLY gay.

So basically in summary; It's Ricky's personality not his inabilitys that makes him a funny character, and the punchline of most jokes

Wasn’t expecting to receive an exchange student that had such an important role at such a young age. Plus, you might hold the key to achieving Lord Diavolo’s dream. In addition to that, you both look awesome in suits.

He would ask you about your job and what a typical work day would look like. When you tell him about some of the criminals you had to evaluate and the more gruesome crime scenes, he genuinely wonders what went wrong while God was creating man.

Once, he took you out on a dinner date and he was impressed by how well you were able to evaluate his psyche. Lucifer is the last person I’d describe as lovesick, but when he found out about your accomplishments and overall competence… he has fallen irreversibly in love.

Mammon

Oh no. Not someone responsible and a borderline therapist! Luci, come pick him up. He’s scared. He doesn’t like how well you are able to read him based on his actions. It’s truly unsettling how you never take a break from analyzing behavioral patterns.

It’s funny whenever he comes running to complain to you about a shift and you’re just standing there like, “you think your job is hard?? You wouldn’t survive 5 seconds in my shoes!” You would often respond with your own experiences, what with all the gory crime scenes and criminals you had to evaluate.

Once, he took you out on a ride in his car and he was amazed at how well you were able to see the toxic relationship between him and his brothers. While you weren’t an actual therapist, you let him know that you would always be willing to lend an ear whenever he needed it.

Leviathan

He would have thought you were so cool. They didn’t have a government organization like the FBI in the Devildom, so everything he knew about it was either from TV or you. For once, he doesn’t freeze up because if the conversation gets dry, he’ll ask about your job.

He’s seen a crap-ton of anime, right? Some of them belong to the horror genre. When you tell him about the horrors of your job, he’s not disgusted. Instead, he’ll slowly wrap his arms around you, asking if you get nightmares because of it. If you say yes, he’d suggest having him sleep in your room.

One day, he invited you to hang out in his room. It was quiet, but not the uncomfortable kind. In fact, both of you were watching a soft anime called ‘Orange’. You softly told him that regret was a common reason for committing a crime. You explained that grief manifested in different ways, sometimes destructive. It was intriguing to him.

Satan

He also thinks you're admirable. He’s read about what you do in his murder mystery novels that he enjoys reading so much. He would ask you about the most disturbing cases you had to deal with. You would tell him about a typical day on the job. He was like a sponge whenever you told him anything.

He wants to hear all about your job. The good, the bad, the ugly… all of it. He will often bring books and ask how accurate the story was. It would make for great conversations between the two of you. You have a bunch of anecdotes, and he has two fully functioning ears to listen to you.

One day, he treats you to a dinner date at a new cafe. You both had been reading a new murrder mystery series that recently found its way to your favorite book shop. You both enjoyed getting away from HoL to revel in each other's company. Y’all would talk about what you thought of the book as well as anything else that came to mind.

Asmodeus

If there’s one thing he knows about FBI agents, it’s that they can always pull off a tuxedo like nobody else can. So what does he do? Why, he makes suits for the both of you! Some suits match, others have elements that compliment each other. To him, it’s his way of telling the world that you’re his and he’s yours.

There will be a ton of self-care nights where both rant about anything that comes to mind. Asmo often found himself letting you do most of the talking. He gets to learn more about you by remaining quiet. For example, you are able to analyze patterns in certain crimes, furthering investigations by a significant amount.

Once, Asmo took you out on a shopping date for more fabrics and accessories for outfit ideas you had. On the way there, however, you looked in a nearby alley and saw crime scene tape and a police officer. You had a PTSD flashback and started hyperventilating. Asmo had to talk you through breathing normally and he quickly led you away.

Beelzebub

Doesn’t know much about your profession, but he’s willing to learn! He’s probably seen a few crime shows while snacking, so he might have some sort of clue. As you both make a delicious snack in the kitchen, he’d ask you questions about what you did and why you chose this profession over everything else.

There will be a few nights where he invites you to his room and you don’t really do anything besides eat and talk. Beel is a demon of few words, so he will often let you rant about how your life is adjusting to the Devildom and how you either miss or don’t miss your Human Realm job.

One night, Beel treated you to lunch at a higher-end restaurant. He would continue to ask you about the things you’ve witnessed in your worst cases. You told him about the gruesome crime scene, the unstable criminals you had to evaluate. He didn’t eat dinner that night, nor for any of the other nights following.

Belphegor

And here he thought all humans were weak. Well, physically, you are. But you have to be both mentally and emotionally ready to face what you do for work. He doesn’t know a ton about what you do, but he’s probably like Beel where he’s seen a few crime shows.

Many times, the others have caught you both wrapped up in each other’s arms, sleeping peacefully as though nothing was wrong with the world. However, he knows that you have nightmares. He can sense it even when he’s asleep. He often has to use his powers on you to get you a good night’s rest.

One night, you both were just hanging out in the attic when you told him something very personal. During your time as a BAU FBI agent, you were threatened, taunted, hurt, overwhelmed… but nothing prepared you for that day when Belphie decided to take your life. You told him that you were actually glad that you could join the souls you brought closure to, and that’s when he lost it. He let a few tears shed, whispering apologies left and right.

you knew your boyfriend was is a huge fan of your older sister, that's why you kept hiding your 'secret' from todo. not because he'd a clingy and be asking to get acquainted with her. you were waiting 'till your sister will have a concert whilst todo will be on the mission - what a shame to be probably on the other side of town when your idol is performing - the probability of such a coincidence is extremely small, but not equal to zero.

like now, when takada has her performance, todo is fighting over the special grade cursed spirit. he couldn't do anything but to exterminate the monster, so he could watch the takada's concert.

a few hours after your sister's concert, when your lover showed up on the doorstep of the house.

'i missed the concert. it was a rare occasion, it-' todo is standing in the door frame, sobbing as he missed the concert his idol. you never mentioned you like her or watching takada's shows on the screen, therefore, todo has to impress you with her. /if he knew she is your sister/

aoi todo - as i mentioned before - would be freak around you when nobody sees: his hands will wrap your waist all time, mostly in the evenings as both of you will be watching tv, but in reality, neither todo nor you ain't seeing what on the screen, mainly, you give each other warmth and hugs.

todo upset as he couldn't show you her concert. he sits on the couch in the living room, tossed his head.

'i wanted to bring you to the concert, so afterward we could have the memory'

'aoi..'

'whose concert?'

takada's head peeked out from behind the door frame leading into the kitchen as she came into the room with her stage persona [?]. todo is sitting there, looking at you, at her, not knowing what's going on.

'y/n, do you see what i see?'

you looked at your older sister, giggled. todo laid his elbows on his knees, put a chin on his fist, speculating on the situation. even being a grade first sorcerer, his brain is mushy as his capability to think straight is lost. todo could calculate a masterful plan of how to beat the spirit but at this moment, he doesn't know what to say.

'my hallucination probably played out, there is no percentage to takada-chan being here and even had spoken'

'do you think i'm not real?'

aoi's brain starts to work as the idol came to the sorcerer, dramatically pouted her lips. the moment of realization of what's happening dawned on him, as light pink blush is dotted on his cheeks, as he almost jumped off the couch.

't-takada-chan, i.. you real? certainly, you ain't fake, just..'

todo is dawned by a sudden feeling, which is hard for him to describe - such an unplanned meeting with an idol unquestionably makes him impossible to talk. even tho he's a sorcerer, ranged first which means he's powerful and astute when it comes to finding the best plan to exterminate the cursed spirit.

'i've been all ears about you - y/n told me that you're the strongest among your students. i am glad that my sister is dating someone powerful and kind like you, todo-san'

have you ever seen someone red like a tomato? well, now you've got an opportunity to have a look - the side of aoi probably you and takada allowed to see is when he's as happy as a child, the full teeth smile [?] that will not leave his face until the end of the evening, he will illuminate the room.

'don't call me todo-san, it's aoi. you're my girlfriend sister, i feel uncomfortable for you to use the formal'

the second question - have you ever seen someone being battle-crazed meathead and willing to demolish everyone but actually melty ice cream and sugary? my answer is simple - aoi todo.

all evening todo had been listening to your sister's stories with admiration in his eyes, peeping at you with those practically puppy eyes as if they're reading: 'thank you, honey'. todo kinda complacent - not everyone has got a chance to talk to the idol like aoi does.

throughout the evening the little and cute blush on his dimpled cheeks staying as if that's how it should be. out of a significant and fearsome man remained a small, purring cat, if you can characterize him that way.

'takada-chan, may i-'

'call me takada, aoi'

'takada.. may you give me taka-tan beam, please?'

at last, before leaving your house, your older sister looked back at todo's request, as if she was waiting 'till he uttered the phrase. she let out a cheerful but quiet chuckle.

'here i go' as if at that meeting when todo had time to come [he probably missed the class to see your sister], still he gets tensed when takada cleared her throat a little.

at first, she clenched her left hand in a small fist, covering her face with a curve of her elbow, next swiftly closed left eye, bringing the index and middle finger toward her eye with the back of his hand to the todo and you, pronouncing, likely the most favorite phrase taka-tan.

'here you go, aoi. i had the pleasure of meeting my sister's boyfriend. goodbye, thanks for the invitation, y/n!'

you smiled as a response, closed the door whilst todo is still speechless.

'oi, y/n, why you didn't choose to be an idol? therefore i'd be your huge fan number one'

'i've chosen another way. but, if i'll be the idol like my sister, hm~ i'll have the huge crowd of fanboys, who'd like to steal my heart'

he wanted to respond but instead of saying, todo wrapped his arms around your body, kissing your forehead.

'i'm glad that you're only mine, y/n. i love you'

you smacked your lips against his as your hands are holding his cheeks.

Samatoki loves that you’re a detective...as long as you’re not actively on a case regarding him

the two of you met when you were working a crime scene that Samatoki’s gang had been involved in

but after it was cleared up and nobody was charged, you introduced yourself to him and gave him your card because you can never have too many connections

the two of you kept in contact and what started as work acquaintances ended up becoming a very solid relationship

Samatoki thinks you work too much and you always jokingly tell him that it’s his fault for causing you more work

since both of your jobs can be dangerous, you’re always telling other to be safe before work, and ‘kisses for safety’ is 100% a thing that happens

and if Samatoki wakes up late and you’re already gone, he’s going to be irritated all day that he didn’t get to tell you to be safe

even though he definitely blows up your phone with calls and texts

he also does this if you get assigned to a case outside of the city and have to leave for a few days

but whenever you successfully close a case, Samatoki is the first one congratulating you and urging you to celebrate with him

when you bring your work home with you, Samatoki is simultaneously annoyed and amazed because on one hand, he really just wanted to cuddle with you and eat dinner together

but on the other hand, he loves watching you spread out all of the files and begin intensely working through the papers, jotting things down and filing pictures of crime scenes away

Samatoki is fascinated by how fast your mind works and how good you are at connecting details and deducing facts

he doesn’t hold back in telling you how hot he thinks it is either, and will definitely tease you about how smart you are

he also thinks the faces you make when you’re concentrating are the cutest and he has no shame in pulling you into his arms

“Toki! Let me go, I have to work this case!”

“The case will still be there after dinner. Besides, it’s stressing you out, I can see it on that cute face of yours”

when you tell him that you know Juto and have run into him a few times at work, Samatoki tells you to stay away from him because he’s shady

to which you promptly remind Samatoki that he’s the shady one

he definitely gets annoyed whenever you deduce things about him because he feels like you always know everything going on in his mind

but he likes that he doesn’t always have to explain everything to you and that you can predict his needs well

he’s not the best with his words, so your powers of observation are actually incredibly helpful in the relationship

Juto Iruma

Juto thinks you’re one of the smartest and best detectives he’s ever worked with

since he’s a police officer, he often works with detectives, helping them solve cases and that was how the two of you met

after the case was closed, he asked you for coffee off the clock and you slowly began to develop a relationship

you both agreed never to talk about work and to keep the relationship under the table from your colleagues 

sometimes you have to bring case files home with you though, and Juto is always more than happy to help you work through them

he’s not going to be happy if you cancel a fancy date night just to order pizza and go through paperwork though

so you’ll have to make sure you give him your time as well

since Juto is still a dirty cop, sometimes you’ll have cases that involve people he knows that he’s blackmailed or framed

and that’s when he’ll get reaaaalllyy quiet and just sip his coffee and tell you that he’s just as stumped as you are about the case

he always ends up telling you the truth though because you already know he does things under the table

you figure that as long as he’s framing the people that did the crime or were part of the group you’re going after, it’s not that bad

Juto always tells you not to over-work yourself, especially when he walks into the living room in the morning to see you passed out surrounded by a giant pile of paperwork

he’s not above threatening people to make sure you work normal hours and making sure that your boss isn’t taking advantage of how good you are at your job

I can imagine Juto being impressed by your powers of deduction and your ability to read him quite easily

sometimes it irritates him since he likes to be a bit more mysterious and secretive about the things he does

but he knows that you’re his girlfriend and that he’s not supposed to be hiding things from you anyways

so it actually helps both him and the relationship because he becomes less likely to hide things from you

since he knows that you’re smart enough to see through him anyways

the two of you really love doing escape rooms together and timing yourselves to see who can solve it faster

and throughout the relationship you’re always testing each other and competing, but it’s always for fun and done lovingly

because Juto really loves and admires you and he can’t even be mad when you win since he knows you’re just too good at being a detective

@fr3nchtuck This might get a little long, sorry! Also disclaimer, I’m basing this mostly off of the 2019 movie (and some of the movies 1994 movie) and snippets of the book (which I have not read, do with that as you will!!!)

Firstly, I’m going to say that I don’t like jo/laurie. I don’t think Jo should have married anyone, and that Alcott’s decision to marry her off was a reflection of the pressure put on Jo to marry off all of her heroines even at Jo’s insistence that it wasn’t the right course of action (this meta is alluded to at the end of the 2019 version). I’ve also never really believed that Jo loves Laurie as anything more than a sisterly or platonic love, and that she regrets her rejection of him because 1) he symbolizes childhood and freedom and 2) with Meg off and married, Beth dying, and Amy in Paris, Jo has never been lonelier. IMO, it’s not that Jo loves Laurie, it’s that she craves the consistency of a life partner.

Also I think when people hate Amy in favor of Jo/Laurie it makes the book about Laurie and pits the sisters against each other which I don’t enjoy :(

But anyway. That’s just a quick reason as to why I personally don’t vibe w jo/laurie. As for why I like Amy/laurie, I’ll rq explain why Amy is my favorite sister. I think people don’t give Amy enough credit, and Alcott puts Amy in an interesting position. Usually, the pressure is put on the eldest sisters to get married so they can support their siblings, while the youngest sisters dont experience the same pressure. For example, in pride and prejudice, it’s up to Lizzie and Jane to marry rich. Marmie doesnt put this pressure on her daughters, and Meg marries a ‘penniless tutor’ and at this point nobody expects Jo to marry. Beth is sick, and so she won’t be able to get married in any case. While Marmie doesnt pressure Amy to marry rich, Amy understands that it’s up to her to provide for her sisters (and her nieces and nephew). Amy grows up very romantic and naive, but must quickly her abandon her dream of becoming a painter and is not allowed the same freedom in marriage if she wants to provide economic stability for her sisters. And I think that’s something to be romanticized in itself! We often romanticize Meg and Jo’s decision to marry for love and pursue her career respectively, but there is something romantic in Amy making her own sacrifices for her family.

And I think this is why she’s so frustrated with Laurie when they meet in Paris! Laurie is a rich aristocratic man who could have any job, do anything he wants, and never have to worry about money - instead, he chooses to make a fool of himself in polite society. She’s frustrated because she has all the pressure to behave as a lady so she might be courted, while Laurie can do whatever he wants and nearly throws that opportunity away! Amy has transitioned from being a naive little girl to a pragmatic adult, choosing to suppress her romantic impulses. And for that reason, Amy can make Laurie a better person. She makes him grow up - it’s a very pretty idea to remain in childhood forever, but at the end of the day you can’t linger on the past forever.

On the other hand, Laurie begs Amy the question of whether or not she’ll be happy married to Fred Vaughn. Granted, it’s not an entirely fair question, but ultimately she doesn’t make a decision that would make her unhappy in her life, even if it was the ‘right’ decision.

Their dynamic perfectly shown in my favorite scene in the 2019 movie, when she’s sketching him on the lawn. It begins with him saying he’s writing an opera, which Amy calls a waste of time. He playfully asks her what she’d have him do, and for a moment she smiles, almost ready to play along as Jo might have done. But she shakes her head instead, and tells him she would have him make something of himself. Amy is enticed by the idea of escaping reality like Jo, but ultimately knows that it’s not realistic or sustainable.

At the end of the scene, Laurie tells her not to marry him and Amy just gets infuriated!!!! It’s my favorite part!!!! She KNOWS that lauries initial attraction to her is because she’s a March sister and he is ‘settling,’ and even though she loves him, she refuses to be his second choice!!!! Similar to her speech about her artistry, her point is that she either wants to be loved in her entirety or not at all. Which then forces Laurie to re-examine his own attraction to her, which leads him to the conclusion that he is obsessed with the past and Jo and ‘what could have been,’ rather than moving on and maturing in a healthy way. Again, Amy forces him to mature and better himself, and lauries attraction to her forces her to reconsider making a decision she could regret.

When they do finally get together, it is a rare moment of vulnerability for Amy, and a moment of clarity for Laurie. And Amy, who had felt overshadowed by her sisters - especially Jo - for most of her life, is finally in a position where she feels fully appreciated for who she is, and not by becoming somebody Laurie could love, but by changing Laurie for the better and accepting him for who he has become. It’s a love story of change and renewal and second chances. I think it’s far more interesting than jo/laurie. I think people are very enticed by jo/laurie because it represents young love but i prefer the idea of moving on and learning to love after you’ve been heartbroken, being challenged by your partner, suddenly seeing somebody in a different light <3

She has morning sickness and he goes after her, holding her hair away. After some time, she gets up and washes her face, staying a little out of his way, but he hugs her anyways, brushes her cheek, and kisses her. She gasps. “Are you okay?” he murmurs and then she says it. “That’s why I love you.”

Both blush cherry-red immediately. “I love you too,” Shade answers and stumbles over the words. She smirks.

The Barrows: Farley and Shade go to them in the beginning of Glass Sword to tell them that Mare has been captured by the colonel. They tell the family not to worry, they have a plan to get her away. Yet the family remains afraid. As they leave, Daniel rolls after them and tucks Farley’s sleeve. “You will take care him, Captain?” he asks. She nods, and Daniel adds “I fear he’s bad at doing it himself.”

The Colonel: I think they never meet each other with Fade as an official couple. I guess what happened it this:

Farley: “Colonel, this is Shade Barrow who has relayed very important intelligence to us. He is an invaluable asset, yet we have to protect our best spies, as you know very well. The reason for extracting him is …. this (makes a gesture for him to show off teleportation and Shade does). Impressive isn’t it? (grins)

Colonel: … The fuck … ?

Equally. The funny thing is that they never admit their jealousy to each other, but the other notices it nevertheless and they still manage to tease each other about it.

Farley likes junkfood, I think that’s mentioned in KC? Shade is more into fish and homecooking (though he isn’t that good at it), while Farley is okay with eating in the mess hall. Shade mocks her about her simple taste every now and then and tries to keep Clara away from junkfood.

Who’s the cuddly one? What their favourite cuddling position?

Farley. She likes to sit on his lap, or when he massages her. Sometimes Shade wonders if she prefers to cuddle him or Clara.

Are they hand holders?

What’s the worst first they’ve ever gotten into?

I guess … Shade got angry about the whole coup d’etat thing in Red Queen. Farley has fucked up massively there and Shade got loud for once. But this was afterwards, they were too occupied with surviving at first. The fight happened after they’d arrived at Tuck, when they were alone for a moment. She looked after his wounds when he started to question her doings. She froze, straightened herself and hissed “I’m well aware, thank for reminding me”. Shade flinched and remained silent. They didn’t talk for the rest of the day. Yet Farley came back on the next day and Shade felt unexpectedly relieved. He said he didn’t want to shut her up and didn’t wish for her to build a wall between them. She could trust him. Farley crossed her arms. “Okay?” he asked, and she nodded. She made a stupid joke then and suceeded in lightening the situation. “We’ll have to be better,” he said, and she replied, “we will be.”

I’m not sure about the timing here, tbh, but I guess later in the day, Mare is captured.

Who does the shopping and the cooking?

Farley doing the shopping is somehow canon. Cooking … they both can make do, but as they live in larger groups most of the time, they leave the cooking to experts.

Here we get definitely in “I pretend it didn’t” happen territory. I always wanted to write this idea.

Shade proposes some weeks after they’ve realizes they’re having a baby. Farley thinks he’s joking and reacts in that way as she sees him kneeling down in front of her. She can’t stop grinning and almosts laughs, yet Shade goes all the way, until he asks “will you marry me, Diana Farley?” He tries very hard to pretend she’s laughing because she’s happy.

But finally, she says, “You’re serious, by the bleeding skies? You don’t think you have to make an honourable woman out of me, do you? Because I’m not -” She stops herself as she sees hurt flashing on his face. “Sorry, sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean -” she pleads, but Shade stands up and turns away. He tries his best to hide his hurt but both of them know he feels it. He pretends it was a joke, as Farley thought at first.

Farley feels bad about this for weeks. Then she approaches the topic again. starting with another apology he won’t have. She insists. “I love you, Shade Barrow, and I was mean that day. I wanted to say to you, for some time now, that maybe, possibly, in some years .. I’d like to marry you. Perhaps. If we’re still alive and our cause is won.”

“Now that is a good reason to keep on fighting,” he replies.

They’re engaged for years and let people know this. There are bets about when they’ll get married, but they never let anything slip and dissemble instead. “It’s good as it is”, or “we can’t decide on a name anyways”, or “marriage is overrated, being engaged is more extra”.

Do they have joined Bachelor/Bacheloette parties or separate?

Joined. But nobody but Shade and Farley know it’s their pre-wedding party. They pretend they just want to have a good time because they don’t tell anyone they’re getting married the next day.

Who is the best man/maid of honour? Any other groomsmen or bridesmaids? Big Ceremony or Small?

The smallest ceremony ever. There are only the officials which are needed, Clara, and one or two close friends from the Guard who aren’t gossips. They have their own vows, make a photo, and have a nice meal. Some alcohol, but not much. They leave Clara with one of the friends present and have a glorious wedding night.

They wonder when Clara will let it slip that her parents have finally married and that’s the only risk they’re willing to take.

Do they have a honeymoon? If so, where? 

No. Unless they have a trip scheduled by circumstance to which they will refer to as their honeymoon ever after.

Do they have children? How many?

They have one canon child. Let’s assume they would’ve had more if Shade had lived and their cause was won. But if they have more than two, IDK?

The “RQ=Batman, PD=Bruce Wayne” Theory

Post “A Single Pale Rose” Update: 

I’m like 70% sure Rebecca Sugar has seen this post, and mentions in at the 17:50 mark in the Heart of the Crystal Gems episode of the official podcast. 

(No other changes have been made to the post below, since the “Stranded” special aired.)

The Theory:

At some point during the colonization of Earth, Pink Diamond became enamored with organic life on Earth. While the other diamonds regarded organic life as nothing more than a resource for creating new gems, she created a zoo in an attempt to preserve the species she knew was doomed to extinction by the colonization process. 

She was fascinated by humans' ability to choose their own destiny outside of a rigid caste system, but the humans kept safe in her zoo were deprived of that freedom. Eventually, keeping a relatively small number of humans alive, with no real freedom and away from their home, which she was helping to destroy, wasn’t good enough for her anymore. She wanted to save the Earth, and give gems the same freedom that humans enjoyed. 

Maybe she proposed this plan to the other diamonds, but they rejected it. Maybe she knew they would never agree to it and didn’t even bother asking. In any case, she decided to rebel against them, end the destruction of the Earth, and free the gems severing under her.

However, Pink Diamond realized that those gems were programmed to follow her orders, and would rebel against the other diamonds without question if she ordered them to. This would completely undermine her goal of granting her subjects free will outside of the caste system. So, Pink Diamond created an alter-ego: Rose Quartz. "Just another Quartz soldier, made right here in the dirt." Pink Diamond wouldn't lead the rebellion, Rose Quartz would.  And her subjects would be able to freely choose which side they wanted to fight for.  

Only one other gem would know about this plan: her pearl.

Pearl:  It's a secret, even to Garnet and Amethyst. Rose had a place that she kept hidden from all but me...

Pearl: I was your mother's sole confidant— for the words she could share with no one else, I was there to listen.

Steven:  Why'd she keep so many secrets?

Pearl: She had to, Steven! It's the mark of a great leader, knowing just what to keep hidden from everyone you're trying to protect.

Garnet: Rose kept many things secret, even from us.

Pearl: But not from me, I was the one she told everything!

For a thousand years, Pink Diamond led a double life, operating as herself out of her moon base and as Rose Quartz out of her secret armory and other rebel bases. Although in a position to try and minimize casualties, she also needed to give the rebellion the best possible chance of success while keeping up appearances with those gems who had remained loyal to Pink Diamond and homeworld. 

She would have been forced to make terrible, impossible decisions as she issued battle orders to soldiers on both sides, often sending gems who loyally served under her to certain doom.

Eventually, as the war became more and more desperate and the huge number of soldiers taking orders from the other three diamonds threatened to overwhelm the rebellion.

Revealing her deception was no longer an option. Too many of Rose Quartz’s soldiers, like Bismuth, were now completely opposed to the authority of “upper crusts” like Pink Diamond. If they learned they had been taking orders from a diamond the whole time, and that their beloved leader had also been commanding the forces they fought for a thousand years, they would never follower her again. She would become an enemy of both Homeworld and the rebellion, and the latter would surely fail without her leadership.

There was only one way out. Pink Diamond would fake her own death and hope that the other diamonds would be sufficiently terrified of Rose Quartz to abandon Earth. However she did it, her plan worked, but she failed to anticipate the the other diamonds would emit the corruption signal before departing. 

The Evidence:

Rose Quartz and Pink Diamond were both pink, had big hair, and their gem in their belly button.

Rose has a cave with a giant penny in it that only her most loyal servant knows about. Just like Batman, who has a secret identity.

Pink Diamond = Bruce Wayne 

Rose Quartz = Batman 

Pearl = Alfred

Moon Base = Wayne Manor

Secret Armory = Batcave

It seems like Pearl was programmed to loyally serve Rose Quartz. In the holographic memory in “Rose’s Scabbard,” Rose called her “My Pearl.” Pearl tells Steven, “Everything I ever did, I did for her. Now she’s gone, but I’m still here.“ Indeed, Pearl’s main character arc in the first three seasons is that she is constantly uncertain of her purpose in life now that Rose is gone, and must learn to function without Rose now. She’s a Pearl, programmed to serve, but the gem she’s programmed to serve is gone now.

But why would a Pearl be programmed to follow a common Quartz Solider? 

In addition to the evidence that Pearl served Rose Quartz, there are also several hits that Pearl served Pink Diamond. (See the numbered list below, and my master-post on the question of Pearl’s ownership.) This apparent contradiction is resolved by the realization that Rose Quartz and Pink Diamond are the same person.

(1) In “Adventures in Light Distortion” Pearl says, “When I still served ....Homeworld." Why that pause there? Why is Pearl hesitant to tell Steven who she used to serve?

(2) Later, in “Gemcation,“ Pearl again seems hesitant to tell Steven something about her past. “Steven, I'm sure you have a lot of questions you'd like answers to, like about the Diamonds, for instance. There are things that are impossible for me to explain. But I want to. I-- [covers her own mouth]. Steven I -- [covers her own mouth again].

(3) In “Back to the Barn,” Peridot says our Pearl “looks like a fancy one.” Fancy enough to be reserved for royalty? 

(4) Pink diamonds appear on Pearl’s flight-suit, hologram-Pearl, and on Sardonyx’s shoes.

(5) Pearl strikes an interesting pose in “We Need to Talk.”

(6) In “It Could've Been Great” Pearl is the gem who knows that there was a Diamond base on the moon.
