I’ve been putting off drawing steven with diamond eyes so here u go, with and without shading!

I can finally share my contributions to the @suforeverzine!

My song for the zine was “Giant Woman!” I wanted to capture the feeling of the song both being sung by Steven and later Opal. Opal’s first appearance is still so magical~ 

I also did the fusion sticker sheet for Amethyst!

There are seriously a lot of parallels between how Steven's PTSD is affecting him and how Lapis' affects her. And they've both struggled with control. Honestly surprised that the one other person who might really understand what Steven is going through at the moment has not been included in this part of the narrative. Yet.

Jasper is the living embodiment of toxic masculinity and being Steven’s teacher was a mistake

She pressures him to repress his empathy and his kindness not to appear “weak”.

She teaches him to limit his emotional expression to apathy and anger only.

She brainwashes him to think that the only good way to get respect, to be power and to show strength is through violence.

When Steven ends up internalizing toxic masculinity, his physical appearance becomes more akin to a “dominant traditional masculinity” (e.g. tallness, a mesomorphic a.k.a. muscular body shape, a pompadour hairstyle, facial hair) and let’s not forget that his appearance is basically how he sees himself.

That episode reminded me so much of Why so blue, when Lapis refused to give in to her anger and told the other blue gems that being violent and aggressive is not strength but weakness.

I hope Steven remembers that.

I just finished rewatching S2 and wow, Peridot really has a good arc dev...so many episodes dedicated to her.

Now I’m salty for Bismuth and Lapis Lazuli.

I even feel like there’s no point of rewatching the entire show if nothing gonna gets changed. Maybe fanfic should be the go-to. Maybe I’ll just rewatch the show just for the great and lovable Steven...
