And in regards to the "can't hold a note for too long"- have you heard Loser, Geek, Whatever? Or More Than Survive? Or Two Player Game??? Song where he holds notes for quite a long time- ALSO- to say that Will Roland can't reach the same notes as Will Connolly is just... not true.

And one of the reasons I think some people think Will Roland is "a worse singer" is because, sometimes, stylistically, Will Roland will use a sort of falsetto/head voice (which I LOVE BTW AND IM SICK OF PEOPLE CALLING OTHER PEOPLE BAD SINGERS BECAUSE THEY USE HEAD VOICE- IT'S BEAUTIFUL, IMPRESSIVE, AND REQUIRES GOOD BREATH CONTROL TO MAKE IT NOT SOUND CRAPPY AND WILL ROLAND DOES IT AMAZINGLY) like when he says "hero" and "Rob Dinero" (idk if that's how you spell it 😭) in More Than Survive.

It's not that he's a bad singer, he is taking the brunt of his voice during those parts and also, given that it's this little solo/soliloquy moment for Jeremy, I think that Will Roland's choice to use a light head voice there is perfectly well-placed. It feels kinda personal, I guess. And I love it <3

Not to say that Will Connolly's way of singing it isn't also great. It's awesome! But like, guys, we can't keep getting pissed when a new actor in a show doesn't have the exact same singing voice as the original 😭 That's just silly, guys. 😭

Anywaysss- back to Will Roland's voice- he is very much capable of hitting the notes that Will Conolly hits- if not higher (IT'S NOT A COMPETION THO, GUYS- PLS DONT COME FOR ME). For example, the acoustic version of Loser, Geek, Whatever on Spotify which, I believe, is a key higher than usual!! This man can belt some high notes when the situation calls for it! And also, (these are not really bmc related but whatever) during the harmony or whatever at the end of "Sincerely, Me", that is none other than WiLL RoLaND (!!!) hitting that high E (I'm pretty sure it's an E. I hope it's an E. But regardless, it's still a SUPER HIGH NOTE) at the end! And in "Amphibian" on Joe Iconis' album titled, well, "Album", Will Roland hits some insanely high notes!!! ( EVEN IF THEY ARE HEAD VOICE. I REPEAT, HEAD VOICE DOES NOT MEAN BAD SINGER!!)

Also, as a little additional statement to my "Jeremy is autistic/ autistic-coded so Will Roland played him as autistic"; this is not to say that Will Conolly didn't add some "autistic flare", if you will, to Jeremy. I mean, just yesterday I was freaking out with my friend about a gif of Will Conolly's Jeremy doing the autistic flappy hands :))). And I think that he was a good baseline for other Jeremy's to build off of!

Also, I feel like the people that are saying that Will Roland's portrayal of autism/neurodiversity is "ableist" or "incorrect" or "too dramatic" are sorta failing to understand/acknowledge that autism/neurodiversity is a spectrum. Not every person with autism or another kind of Neurodiversity is gonna act the same. And I think that's something really beautiful that we should all cherish. It is GREAT that we are all different but also, in many ways, the same!

And to see myself and my uncontrolled speaking voice and weird noises and such represented by Will Roland on stage is such a beautiful thing that I think 'ought to be cherished.

Fortnight - Such a vibe with headphones on, but still far from being my favorite though. I'm quite shocked this is the first single but I do really like it now at the second listen, still sad post malone didn't get his own verse i was excited for that :/

The Tortured Poets Department - The charlie puth mention really ruined verse 2 for me sadly, but the bridge ruined my life "At dinner, you take my ring off my middle finge. And put it on the one people put wedding rings on. And that's the closest I've come to my heart exploding" LIKE WTF HEART = BROKEN the title of the song is really cool but i dont know i wasnt expecting the song to sound like this.

My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys - I think this may be my second least favorite from this album i dont understand why i didnt really like this song. Maybe it was the vibe of the song and sound especially the choruses which sadly didnt hit. i love how she wrote about a rocky relationship in this song. I feel like this one will definetly be a grower

Down Bad - literally one of my favorites from the whole album. Maybe it's cause the sound feels familiar to me kind off like midnights vibe. But wow that chorus is amazing truly so catchy and the lyrics like wow. i love this song so muchhhh

So Long, London - Not what I expected but still so heartbreakingly pretty. I love her voice in this song it's so pretty and the lyrics are so good oh my god. I swear the verse 3's in this album are vile. "I died on the altar waitin' for the proof" like god damn this whole song is amazing.

But Daddy I Love Him - I loved this song so fucking much. When she said "I'm having his babies" my face dropped and then she hit me with "no not really but you should see your faces" was really fun i'll probably never forget that. i believe this song is of everyone trying to decide her love life for her. And her being like fuck you guys it's my life and you have to accept it and i love her for that!

Fresh Out The Slammer - Those choruses are so good man especially the second one is so good and so me. On first listen this one isn't very memorable but still really good. Now that i've listened to it more like i love this song so much too and the bride ahhh <333

Florida !!! - Ok so maybe i'm a little biased but man this one is so fucking good. I have loved Florence and Taylor for years so like them collaborating was like everything and more. I have now listened to the song like thrice and wowwwww i love it so muchhhhh. Taylor, Florence, Fl welcomes you with open arms man. And like verse 3 was so good their song writing skills are out of this world.

Guilty As Sin? - What an interesting song, like man, idk how to feel. I love the chorus fs. I've come to interpret this song as her having thoughts of a man who possibly isn't available per say or it's just something that can never happen between the two but the want for eachother is there. "They don't know how you've haunted me so stunningly" I love this lyric btw and the chorus right after like wowwww

Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me - ME IM SCARED WTF. Her screaming that line was everything and like the second half of the song is so incredible like wow. also this line has stuck with me since last night "Then we could all just laugh until I cry" ALSO THE ASYLUM WHERE THEY RAISED ME SDJNVFI. I love how she's kind of portraying herself in this song as like the stereotypical scary neighbor in movies. At least that's how I saw it. The whole bridge is incredible and magnificent I adore this song.

I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) - GIRL NO YOU CANT AND IM SO HAPPY YOU ACCEPTED THAT. Once I got past the point that this song is about ratty healy I really liked it. it's vibes are so good and the imagery is amazing.

loml - what if i said this should've been track 5. This was the only song in the album I cried to on first listen. It hit me like a bullet and I will never forgive cat lady swift for not preparing me for this song. Literally so fucking hurtful i'm screaming oh my lord. I- no im never getting over this song, sorry not sorry. And the fact "They almost had it all" but there life was cut short aka the relationship ended oh god kill me.

I Can Do It With A Broken Heart - I don't know whether to laugh or to cry. This song is heartbreaking don't let the production fool you, the lyrics want to make you rip you're hair out. And you know what i'll be dancing to this song with a broken heart. "The lights refract sequin stars off her silhouette every night. I can show you lies" it's giving mirrorball like augh i love this song so much!!! and the chorus is everything "I'm so obsessed with him, but he avoids me like the plague" SO FUCKING REAL.

Hi Rae - I have a question for you about I hate it here - I saw this TikTok (actually was sent it… which personal sigh) about the 1830’s line and how it was indicative of white feminism and how because of the line majorly simplifying things that were happening back all using what’s happening with the Arizona abortion ban as an example of why this line is ‘incredibly harmful and problematic’. Which, like of course I don’t want to police anyone who does feel certain things about the line, because not my place but I guess… I feel like people keep taking that line out of context when I think she even shames herself for thinking that way, but they just want to focus on that part of it. I feel very seen by this song and I dont want to appear that I’m being attacked by it. How you would talk about all of it without discrediting the issues people have with this line?

i admit i didn't watch the whole video, but i get the gist. my take on it is the same as yours, personally. i love the song, it's one of my favorites on the album!

i think the point of that line is to note how the past can't be romanticized as simpler, better, etc. because... it wasn't. the past still sucked, and taylor is acknowledging that even in a "palace," she would still be unhappy. it draws a parallel between the past and present: they're not so dissimilar, the same problems exist in different forms.

some people will think it's bad taste - my note from my first listen was "this is annoying." i do think that game has always been more fun for white people! my little friends played it when i was a kid and i'd always be like, "well, i'd love to live in x time period, but i'd have to go back as a white guy..." - PLUS, a lot of people simply do not want to hear this from taylor. which is fine! feel however you want!

but i think we should all just become more comfortable with saying "yeah, i didn't like that," rather than endlessly moralizing it. maybe it's not sophisticated or funny to some people, but i think that line does address the exact thing people are criticizing about it.

the problem is 1. is a bad lyric that’s poorly written, if she wanted to speak about how we romanticize the past and nostalgia can trick people… there are hundreds of ways to get that message across and they’re way better.

2. it’s also just jarring to hear taylor say the word racism because! she never says it or talks about it. she’s never spoken about anything involving race in general so suddenly for her to say it, especially now, it feels very out of place and forced.

and 3. yes…. speaking about racism and being like ‘i know it’s a bad thing!’ when on that exact album you wrote an entire track about how you don’t care if your boyfriend says horrible, racist, bigoted things and you don’t care that your fans are upset about it, in fact she described people of color being upset with her aligning with a bigot as ‘bitching and moaning’….. and that’s very bad! very very bad!

so yeah it’s a bad line that opens up a treasure chest of things and if she’s ’this generals greatest songwriter’ i think she could’ve done a bit better. and the amount of white fans speaking over people of color and shouting ‘you dont get it!!’… imagine telling a poc they dont get racism but a white person does.

the young and menace music video expands on the themes of the base song in an absolutely harrowing way that not enough people give credit to because a) young and menace as a single was very jarring for a lot of folks and b) people thought the llama suits looked dumb. both were rather silly reasons to brush off what is a very earnest piece of art but it is what it is. i still see hostile attitudes towards mania and towards young and menace in particular because of how polarizing a song it was and i could honestly go on forever and ever about how bad and pointless and shitty and racist a lot of the discourse there was. but instead i wanna talk about the video.

right out the gate i want to make it clear that the video did wonders, leaps, and bounds for mania's aesthetic marketing. for all that people will shittalk mania, make no mistake: it had an EXTREMELY strong aesthetic foundation right out the gate. the video gives us some very potent imagery as it plays out, all of which tie strongly into the albums overall theming, marketing, and lyricism. the crashing beach waves, the star-swept night sky, the violet-drenched neon cityscape - they all get exemplified here.

but more important than that is the story it tells. young and menace is a song that really concisely portrays a manic state. from a purely sonic standpoint, it is jarring, it is full of peaks and troughs. the low opening guitar chords slink along so gradually you can easily miss the beginning of the song if youre not paying attention. the whole opening of the track stalks along with this eerie, charged dangerousness that you can feel building and building and building until it detonates spectacularly, escalating into an electrified breakdown that nearly ruptures on itself before bouncing back to its initial, calmer baseline. lyrically, its a song that discusses what it is to be an outsider. petes discussed how the song is reflective of how he felt growing up - like he didnt quite belong, because he and his family didnt look like anyone else in their (very white) neighborhood. the video takes that theme and ratchets it up to 11.

young and menace depicts a young biracial girl who lives in a house fraught with domestic abuse. young and menace is about what it means to be othered and it portrays the othering this girl experiences to its absolute extremes. she feels like a stranger in her own home to the point where she visualizes her parents as inhuman monsters - sort of a reverse "where the wild things are". she escapes into a city populated by people, but speaks a language no one else can understand. she wanders into a dimly lit club where everyone is dancing at a show, but the loud music sends her skittering back outside until she collapses in what looks like an overstimulated daze. and there isnt any closure for her either. the video ends on this kind of grim and upsetting note, because shes back home by its conclusion and has no choice but to reconcile that her parents are just people, the same way she is.

its a video that embodies what it is to be Othered in so many different ways that it all compounds on itself and becomes impossible to bear.

it depicts what it is to be othered in the literal sense and beyond that. the girl is not just a human in a world of monsters; shes also a human that none of the other humans can understand. to me it encapsulates what it feels like to be biracial very very succinctly, that feeling of intense unbelonging, that feeling of being stranded between two worlds, neither of which understand you and neither of which you entirely resemble.

it depicts what it is to be othered in the familial sense. it depicts how it is to grow up in a home where you dont feel you belong, where your home is literally not a safe place to be, to the point where running away feels like the best possible option.

and on top of that, this is the lead single on the album entitled MANIA. the whole record embodies that concept, from its soundscape to its lyricism it depicts what it is to be manic - which again comes from pete, who has been very very open about being diagnosed w bipolar pretty young. young and menace is MANIAs whole ethos in microcosm. the song and the video are so so so representative of that, bouncing between eerie quiet and choppy, jittery chaos. and theres no resolution. there is no being "fixed" or "cured" of this, of any part of this. there is no escaping being what you are. sometimes the most you can do is ride the wave and hope you make it out on the other side.

young and menace is a really really earnest depiction of how all those different aspects of oneself can intersect. i think a lot of the controversy of the "new sound" for fall out boy overshadowed how important the video was. this was a narrative about a biracial black girl in an abusive home environment, told by a biracial, bipolar, black man whos had his notable struggles with finding a community he felt accepted him. the video doubles down on the overall themes of the song in a really harrowing but i think deeply effective way. its heartbreaking in its vulnerability and for someone like me, a mixed race kid who grew up with unchecked mental illness in a toxic home environment, it meant the whole goddamn world.

I honestly don’t understand people who listen to artists whose whole shtick is “I’m an awful person and everyone I know leaves me because I use and abuse them”, and then are shocked when the artist turns out to be an awful abusive person. Like, what were you expecting?

I keep seeing all these people saying “well, how was I supposed to know he was bad? How was I supposed to be able to tell?” And then they’re all like “ohhh woe is me, I can’t believe I loved these albums! I’m going to have to get rid of all this stuff I got and completely rearrange my whole life!” Like??? If you liked the songs so much that your whole room is plastered with posters and merch… surely you listened to the lyrics??? At no point was he ever trying to hide the fact he’s like this, it’s all over his songs.

One thing that also gets me, it’s that everyone is now like “if you support or like his stuff you’re a terrible person” and like. That’s valid. But YOU liked his stuff where he made no qualms or effort to hide this, before. Does no one have any kind of critical thought? Like, when you hear the lyrics, you just think “oh yeah, this is a totally normal line” and move on? To say that “oh he tricked all of us into listening and liking his stuff and being a rabid fan”, like you weren’t tricked. The only trick he played was being a “hot guy online” that everyone seemingly collectively decided was great because of that.

or is it being faced with the actuality that’s horrifying? by your own logic, you’re also just as complicit. — this isn’t to say that I don’t understand standing in solidarity with victims that have spoken out, and the purging of his work being part of that. I just think it’s a little hypocritical to get on your high-horses and say everyone is a peace of shit if they don’t immediately disavow his stuff, since the signs have been there from the start.

And this also isn’t to say that I didn’t like his music. I did and I do. In fact, I only know of him BECAUSE of his music (I found him when he was still covering pat the bunny and wingnut dishwashers union). I’ve had no illusions of him being a good guy, and still consumed his work— did I know just what kind of piece of shit he was? No. Maybe because I’ve only known him for his music that makes me so critical of most of the reactions. I didn’t have the chance to be pulled in by a “nice guy act” online like so many people seemingly have.

Speaking of his online personas, it does make me wonder how no one apparently thought he was bad before this? Like I’ve read some fics (not enjoying Minecraft doesn’t mean the fics aren’t good) and people generally and routinely portrayed him as this manipulative, erratic, controlling guy — even when writing him as the good guy, they still always included elements of these personality traits in the work. And now, I see artist after artist discontinuing and deleting works (and if this is what makes them feel better, fair play) saying that “they cant continue writing/drawing his character now they know the truth about him” but at the same time they were always so vocal about “I write about the c! not the cc!” Like if you were truly separating the character from the actor, would so many of you be speaking this way? Looking at the rampant amount of Harry Potter fanfics (not even starting on the manacled debacle), then no — the artist and the work are only connected when it’s live action amateurs.

And also, if you’re THIS distraught over some guy YOU DONT KNOW turning out to be terrible, get some help, that’s not normal i don’t think — or it shouldn’t be, the internet and social media has normalized being strangely attached to strangers and celebrities that you otherwise wouldn’t be.

What if the alchemy is not about travis? What if its the makeup song to close the album and just covered in a thin varnish of football references to provide plausible deniability? What if they got back together and have been keeping it under wraps and the whole travis thing is a PR deal with the nfl that also exists to protect the eras tour and the ttpd release numbers from the matty backlash?

If you remove the football jokes it sounds like a forgiveness and makeup song: what if i told you we’re cool, that childs play back in school is forgiven….the sign on your heart said its still reserved for me…they said there was no chance…this happens every few lifetimes.

Steam Powered Giraffe . they're a robot band with a ton of lore but you dont have to know any of it to enjoy the music !!! if you wanna get into the lore i suggest listening to the albums in release order , but if not just shuffling em is good !! even if you decide to get into the lore later you can still just shuffle for now , the songs dont really spoil anything , theyre mostly connected to the robot's feelings and not events . except Vice Quadrant . if you wanna get into the lore i suggest leaving The Vice Quadrant alone until you listen in album release order . all of the lore is on the website below in the lore and comic tabs ! ^_^

Kabaret Sybarit . theyre a danish dark cabaret band with two narrative universes . the first narrative is in The Poodle and The Grand Finale , huge trigger warning for rape and sexual topics in these two . the second narrative is Akt 1: Rum Nr. 13 , the whole thing is in danish but google translate works fine for the lyrics . Akt 1 was unfortunately only act one of a story that was supposed to be longer , but the band separated and they never finished it . what it is is still really good though ! heres the music video for the first song in The Poodle:

Paul Shapera ! he has a few narratives over all his albums , but the only one ive listened to personally is New Albion . the New Albion trilogy is: The Dolls of New Albion, New Albion Radio Hour, and The New Albion Guide to Analogue Consciousness. there's also The Room Beneath New Albion but its not as long and not necessary to understand the main story . theres also more New Albion past those four but i havent gotten into anything outside the 4 . content warning for incest in act 3 for Dolls of New Albion (its not really explicit ever but the main character of act 3 expresses romantic love for his grandfather) . bandcamp link for the first one in the trilogy !

Will Wood and The Tapeworms ! ive only listened to Everything Is Alot , but its really good ! some songs i really like from it are White Knuckle Jerk (Where Do You Get Off), 6up 5oh Cop-Out (Pro / Con), and Front Street !

Shayfer James !!! i recommend Counterfeit Arcade, it has definitely some of my favorite songs ever in it (like Weight of the World and Diggin Up Hatchets) ! and Room by Room !

Sarah And The Safe Word ! im more of a casual fan of them , but some of my favorite songs by them are Sick on Seventh Street, Formula 666, Old Lace, Bottom of a Bender, and Red Hot & Holy !

The Cog Is Dead ! theyre a steampunk band with some lore but its decently less than Steam Powered Giraffe . most of their songs are one off stories with no connect to a greater plot . you can go whatever order for them but i do suggest listening to the albums and not just shuffling them ! website:

Scene Queen ! i suggest just shuffling her it doesnt really matter how you listen to her music . warning majority of her music is very sexual though

Set It Off ! they have so many different styles of music across their albums , i suggest listening to the albums in full for the full experience but it doesnt really matter , they dont have a narrative . except for Elsewhere . for Elsewhere , i suggest exploring the website if you wanna figure out the lore ! its really cool and visually interesting .

The Mechanisms ! they have a ton of lore , most of which is in their albums . for them you kinda have to listen to the albums in full you cant really shuffle . unless you dont care about the lore then do whatever ! you can listen in whatever order , but i STRONGLY suggest leaving Death To The Mechanisms for last . i started with that and i basically fucked up my whole experience :pensive:

Zhongli finally returns to you, wiping his hands on his apron. You’re sat cross legged on his bed, pulling your hair up into a ponytail, your phone banished into a room neither you or Zhongli have access to. You slid it underneath the door, and haven’t regretted it, especially because of the happenings of the past few days.

“What is it that you needed me for, love?” He asks as you pull him into a tight hug. He smells of sandalwood and eggs and the long nights you used to spend at the harbour, talking until the sun rose.

“Thank you,” you say simply.

Zhongli seems surprised by your words, looking down at you. “There’s no need for thanks. You would have done the same for me, I’m sure.”

“There is. I came barreling back into your life at thirty thousand miles an hour and now there’s all this drama surrounding you. I know you’ll say it’s fine, but I still feel bad.” 

Zhongli chuckles at that, gently stroking your hair. “I don’t begrudge a single second of the past few months. I’m lucky to have you with me, whether that means I get photographed and posted all over the internet.”

You sigh softly. “I love you. I hope you know that.”

Zhongli smiles. “Oh, really? I wasn’t aware. You should repeat it, just so I can be sure.”

You scowl at him, pulling him into a kiss by the collar of his shirt. He obliges you, wrapping his arms around your waist. “I love you too,” He whispers against your lips, before going back to kissing you again, his smile not fading. The sound of the doorbell separates you and you feel your face heat up. 

“Itto’s back.” He says, smiling down at you but making no moves to get the door.

“It seems he is,” You reply. “Aren’t you going to let him in?”

“I’d rather stay here.”

You kiss him, smiling slyly at the way he tries to avoid parting from you.

“He has my Starbucks. Let the man in. We can finish this later, hmm?”

Zhongli sighs, adjusting his shirt and as he goes to open the door.

“I’m okay, seriously.” You repeat to Itto, sipping your drink as the three of you sit around the kitchen island. He doesn’t believe you–keeps asking you over and over, as if you’ll slip and tell him the truth. “Thank you for standing up for me,” You smile, taking his hands in yours. “I truly can’t thank you enough. And don’t say it’s your duty as my friend and self announced older brother.”

“Alright.” Itto smiles brightly. “I won’t. In that case, you owe me for that Starbucks cause I spent half an hour in the queue and I could have bought a whole meal for what that drink cost me.”

“But you’re my older brother, how could you!” You tease, pulling him into a hug.

“Hush.” Itto says. “Anyway, what did you want my opinion on?”

“To get me out of the drama, Ei and Zhongli had to say that I had an urgent project. Ei says I should drop the project in a few months and ride out this storm.” 

“I suggested that she shouldn’t do that unless she truly wants to drop out of the industry.” Zhongli says.

“Dropping out was an option?” Itto sits forward. “Not to be that person, but do you even 

 know how much of a chokehold you have on the internet right now? You’ve been trending for the past few days. Now is not the time to drop out.”

“Which leads perfectly onto my next point. Maybe I release something and make it like a last hurrah. Like an album or something. Maybe I won’t drop out completely, maybe I take on less things instead. I mean, I always wanted to go on tour but my schedule never allowed for that. And I’ve been enjoying not being under people’s scrutiny all the time.” Itto looks at you with understanding. The first time he convinced you not to quit, he knew you were tying to escape. But this time, he can see you’ve thought about it.

“So you wanna know what I think?” He says, leaning back on his stool before realising it doesn’t have a back and catching himself before he falls. “I think… I think you deserve to be happy. And if that’s being with money bags over there or laying low, I think you should do it.”

“I agree,” Zhongli says, smiling at you.

hello, here to share my opinions on troye's new album (sorry if it gets too long) 😌 as i said im absolutely OBSESSED with this album. like i always enjoyed his music, but to show this level of iconography????? CMON????? there is one problem i have with the album tho: every time i try to listen to it from start to finish, i get delayed by the fucking masterpiece that is "one of your girls" :/ every time this song comes on, i have to listen to it at least 5 times. wtf troye???? i would say it's my fave on the album, but that's an understatement. that's the best song of the whole year for me. god. isnt this giving daft punk like hello????? THE MV ALSO?????? 🤯 okay moving on to the other songs sjsjdhdhf u know that i loved all the singles, and they sound even better in the context of the album!! there is not a song i dont enjoy in this album, i couldnt even make a ranking because they are all so good. overall, THE BEATS in this album got me floating in space and shaking my ass at the same time. THE LYRICS???? i reallllly love the lyrics too i feel like they elevate the experience a lot which is so cool. the songs i find myself replaying the most (other than the obviously stated one above jsjdhf): in my room, honey, got me started (this one is a grower tbh). also i really feel like the songs are really cohesive and work so well together. i feel like every song will have their turn of being my fave in the upcoming months, because i intent to keep this on rotation ABSOLUTELY. this will be a contemporary pop classic and now troye is one of the main pop girls, sorry i dont make the rules... anyway, what are your thoughts? 😌

okay, first of all, i love your thoughts and i couldn't agree more about everything you said! <3 i keep coming back to this album, idk what troye put in it but it's SO addicting aaah! oh i absolutely understand the obsession with "one of your girls" bc GOD, it's amazing. chef's kiss on every level, the lyrics are perfect, the production is 10/10, the mv!!! (and yeeees, the daft punk vibes!!) are you kidding me?!! imo, the mv perfectly shows the transition between this album and troye's previous albums, he's confident, he's serving and he knows what he wants! and that's actually something i love about the whole album, it's very touching to see him being even more mature with his music and SO confident and it feels so freeing! genuinely, i'm so happy and grateful that i grew up with his music, it was veery important to me in my teenage years and it makes me so happy to see him grow as an artist (and person) waaah🥹 and i think that's also why i love this album so much, bc it's another step! ANYWAY yeeees, that's something i love so much about troye's music - how lyrics elevate the sound and vice versa. and oh yeah, the sounds and beats got me ascending aslkfkdsjfkjsah like come oooon!! and yeees the album is cohesive but i also like that every song has it's own story bc that's another thing i really like about troye's music haha which is narration! and with this album, i really like that there are themes that connect everything together, but that it's also all pretty "loose" and bc of that the songs are both good on their own but also work very well together! what can i say, troye gets it and he's The pop girl! fr, i was so excited about this album and had high expectations and he did not dissapoint! i love every single, although yeah, i also wasn't convinced about "got me started" at the beginning but it's a really good sample and i enjoy it A Lot now. it's soo hard to choose a fave, but i love rush (i could write a whole essay on rush AND i'm OBSESSED with the mv), still got it, can't go back and what's the time where you are? (perfect "me and this song against the world and life horrors aka going to work/uni" song) the most i think. troye saved this year with that album and he saved me during winter semester lol i'm so devastated that he's not coming to poland on his tour WHY troye WHYYY😭 (like what do you mean you won't come to poland but there's 5! It’s going pretty decently. This week has been rough, but finding out the Tinlightenment Kickstarter met its goal has definitely made it better, and so has this ask :)). That’s a groovy policy btw, have fun with that. 

Now, I don’t think you understand the opportunity you’ve given me with this ask because I adore talking about the music I listen to. (Also you joke about Virginity Rocks, but I have had that song, along with Axe Man, on repeat for the past week).

Alright, get ready for a whole breakdown on what I listen to because I make the rules and I say I get to talk about music as much as I want. Ok, so I really go through phases with what I’m listening to. Overall genres though are like- Heavy metal, rock, indie rock, indie, folk, folk punk, and pop punk. I’d say a big portion of it goes to indie rock and folk though (at least- right now). 

My favorite bands and artists though- that’ll have to be like The Backseat Lovers, Ricky Montgomery, Slaughter Beach, Dog (<- Those two are one band name), and Noah Kahan. But then I am also a big Crane Wives, Hozier, and Peach Pit fan. That’s all the more chill side of the music I listen to though. 

On the opposite end of this spectrum, we’ve got bands like Ice Nine Kills and Nothing More. (Ice Nine Kills is such a cool band btw, they do horror metal where they have albums where each song is based on a different horror movie, and it’s so good. If you like metal at all I would totally check them out). And then also there’s Waterparks, and Set it Off, and I Don’t Know How But They Found Me, and MCR, and The Wrecks, and Glass Animals. (Haha that was a polysyndeton, thanks AP Lang!) Oh! And Friday Pilots Club! 

Specific songs at the moment though? Black Fins by Right Montgomery for sure, that song's so sad but by god is it a banger. Current favorites are also Monster by Slaughter Beach, Dog, and Snowbank Blues by The Backseat Lovers. Just great songs all around. 

But yeah like I said- I could on for hours about music. Please listen to any of these bands if you feel so inclined, and let me know if you like 'em! I love finding people who have similar music tastes as me! Plus also- I’m hella curious about the overlap of specific music genres within the Starcanwrecked fandoms. But that’s a separate post, I believe.

He only said he doesn’t remember the last time he had a crush, the other half of anon’s claim is literally made up, he didn’t say that "let alone a relationship" part.

(+ The fact that he turned to the youngest guy in the SGMB to ask about what it’s like having a crush could even imply that he - like the rest of the band - were all the kinda stereotypical in-their-30s/almost-30-guys-already-in-a-long-term-relationship-type, hence why they had to ask the only young and single guy in the room. But don’t take this seriously it’s just how I personally understood it.)

He said (unless the subtitles are not accurate, my Korean is still not a sufficient level for me to understand without the subs) while the two albums were made around the same time, Face was about his emotions at the time, when Muse was more "vague". With Muse he was trying to reconnected with past emotions ("when’s the last time I felt this emotion?", "I really felt that way before?").

About WHO, he does relate it to feelings he and his friends all experience but it’s not even clear he’s talking about the search for love as the comment right after the subtitle mentions "emptiness". Logically, yes he could be referring to the first option but it’s not clear as they brushed it off quite quickly, and right after he and Namjoon seems to be talking about the style of singing he opted for more than the lyrics itself.

I loved that video concept with Namjoon but at the same time I found it frustrating because of all the the cuts and the editing. We’re losing many parts of the discussion, it’s not flowing very naturally so sometimes I didn’t even know what exactly they were referring to, if they’ve moved to a different topic. And it tells the absolute minimum about each song. I’d like to know more…

At the same time, Jimin was being Jimin. As he usually is when it comes to that kind of intimate/personal discussions. He never says much. He always stays pretty vague so it’s up to us to read between the lines and make our own interpretation.

Honestly maybe it’s just me but I after watching it twice I don’t see how anyone can draw any clear conclusion about Jimin’s love life from this interview and the Muse album. We can always speculate, for sure, in my opinion he doesn’t give any clue 🤷🏻‍♀️

i see your points for sure. it was very confusing when they talked about face and muse at the same time tbh. i had to go back several times and i'm still not sure i got everything about it. and not knowing korean annoys me especially in these cases😂i almost feel like muse is confusing to me as a whole because there's two parts to it, the 'crush' songs and then it goes onto who but maybe there could have been a song inbetween that talks about those crushes not being what he was really looking for, maybe to set the tone a bit more before we get into who? and how does closer than this fit into this picture as the last song/the song that comes after who?? like fine. it's a fan song. if we are looking at a story tho, it would go (fake) crushes -> looking for the one -> finding someone he lives (closer than this). so either jimin hasn't finished the story in his explanation or we are just meant to disregard closer than this 'just cause' it's a fan song? then why put it at the end? you could easily be delulu af and go with him finding the one at the end of the album if you wanna take closer than this into account. and even then some lyrics of closer than this are very very specific to the group so if he's really singing about one person and not fans, that person has to be in the group right sooooo is this another letter situation?😂see i'm really good at being delulu which wasn't the point of your ask so i'm sorry.

i do agree that jimin likes to be vague. but in are you sure and the minimonimusic video he kept asking 'is it okay to say this' so i'm thinking he wants to be more open with us now than he was in the past and he's a bit unsure but he's trying.

i guess i see you could argue the meaning of the album/songs either way and tbh it'd be helpful if we got a bit more about it maybe in another interview.
