I love the isekai tag on ao3 and I can guarantee you, even through heavy filters, the doctor who fandom is still alive and well.
Most of the fics I see are SI/OC which typically means the oc is from our current time and transported to the world of doctor who. The fics are usually 80K+ and that's just one tag specific.
