The tragedy of Bor'dor is that he could've been deradicalized, and wasn't. And not only that he wasn't, but that there wasn't time for it. In isolation, his death could've been avoided, with time, but that isn't something that the Hells have right now. They have been well-outfitted, have many allies across the world fighting on their side, and have made enough of an impact to buy them a few weeks, but even that came at a great cost, given the loss of life we've seen in Uthodurn and here with Hevestro's circle.
And there are so, so many individuals among the Ruby Vanguard who are probably just like Bor'dor, who could be talked down from the ledge they've been egged upon by Ludinus's manipulations. We know this, actually, because the Nein did that for Essek, with, frankly, very minimal actual ideology—they did it by being nice and acting as someone else who listened.
But it's years too late for that, because there is now an army of those individuals, and they cannot be taken in isolation. They have passively caused significant loss of life across the planet by altering this solstice, and encouraging more through their ideological shoving, as in Hearthdell. There's no time because the war is already well underway—only the Hells have arrived in the eleventh hour. So the Hells can pity and mourn him, but Orym's assessment was right—they're at war, and the nature of this war is that it must be fought and won in order to even think about the future and rehabilitation.
The tragedy is that Bor'dor could've lived if there was time, but that time is already long gone.

Like what I do? Consider tipping me or making a request on ko-fi!
My financial situation has been quite not good since the beginning of this year and continues to be a struggle, so every bit of support is much appreciated and gives me more brain-space to focus on fandom instead of trying to calculate if I can afford groceries.

all the while society conflates "being an adult" with "having a proper job" and "having money to make arbitrary Adult Purchases" disabled people who can't work - or can only work part time or can only do entry level baby jobs - will never be 'allowed' to be adults
you can say "being an adult is looking after yourself you don't have to have a job!!!" all you want but most people who say that will still assume anybody who doesn't either can't or won't 'look after themselves' actually. and every 'marker' of 'adulthood' that's observable and thus actually counts or whatever loops back around to... having a job and 'contributing' something

So many fanfics, so little time!
I’m gonna be honest. I’m not much of a reader. I have ADHD. 😭 Of course, it’s easier to read when there’s a special interest involved, but even then I usually stick to oneshots or fics that just have two or three chapters. I always loved a good short story!
But there are so many good writers in the stancest fandom… I hope I can get to all these fics eventually. I hope they will all still be there by the time I can get to them!
Thanks to all the writers who contribute to our community. And pour one out for all the fics that got lost to time. 🍷

i hate having four fucking ads on a 20-minute podcast episode.
(it's a rant, enjoy.)
no, i don't want to get your shitting plus subscription, i don't even pay for 95% of the films and shows i watch online. stop fucking begging for patrons, it's not our problem you want to do this full-time. good for you if you do it but it's not somehow our duty to get you there just because you're a creator. not everyone can afford 60 fucking subscriptions. instead of people getting the minimum to at least get by as a basic human right, i bet like 85% of creatives online are making elite clubs on patreon and shit for those who have spare money. i get that you need it, but so many people (especially PDA neurodivergents) are extremely put off by being asked to pay and won't do it (like me) just because of that. i've encountered art that had the option to pay without requiring it, and I did. because they deserved it anyway, and they understood the classism and capitalism ingrained in the internet creative culture and that a lot of people don't have the means to become members of the club. i'm planning on starting a podcast, been wanting to publish fiction in paper since i was a kid, and i still want to make all that 100% free with the option of payment, because i believe that knowledge, stories and art should be accessible to anyone, regardless of financial situation (what do you think libraries are for, hm?????). when it's not, that's when elitism starts to rise and i'm just too tired for that shit. the empty snobbery culture around modern art alone is driving me insane.
Starkid has been recording their performances for years and guess what - they're massive, they sell out, people attend their live plays for the experience, but those who can't are still able to be a part of the fandom (as opposed to broadway musicals that get shared through bootlegs, hm) and they don't expect their fans to be responsible for their means of living. people who want to see a live performance, to buy your book in a bookshop professionally bound and keep it, to thank you for making your day by buying you a coffee will do so of their own free will. don't beg them to pay for your groceries if you made the choice to put your art out there. it's the system that is responsible for taking care of your basic needs, not your fans.

whelp. guess i'm not taking my laptop in for repairs anytime soon since it's gonna cost $300 to order two new gas bottles... we ordered early but usual delivery day is tomorrow so if they don't process it quickly enough we may need to pay the emergency delivery fee which is ANOTHER $300 on top of that...

not an exaggeration, once a month, right when rent is due, my apartment complex sends me a notice that is like “uhhmmm teehee..you actually owe us 1,000 additional dollars. don’t ask why :33″ and then I send them a detailed email including screenshots and time stamps of why that is not the case and they go “drats!! he got us!!!” and scamper back to their little hole underneath the roots of a big tree like “we’ll get him next month!” like if they can just catch me unawares I’ll accidentally pay them $1000

what i am concluding after my two month free trial of living on my own is that it's actually quite nice as long as you have a resemblance of a routine & go out and see people regularly
