my favourite writing device is having an un-Rei-liable narrator
#rei#volo#cheren#// tikposting#// character meta#the crowd booes me off the stage#forgive the pun XDDD his name is too easy to pun on#the way i write it it's not a conscious choice. it's just how the pov character (rei) experiences and contextualises the world#revealing backstory and personality and mindset through narration !!!!#not necessarily out of malice it's just. how he views things#interpreting new and foreign experiences through the lens of what came before...#conversations which read differently to different people.#in the context of rei that's stuff like unease around authority figures#always choosing his words carefully to project an image of competence (he has to be needed)#distrust and not taking things at face value but also paradoxically a fragile and nurtured sense of almost blind optimism#when it comes to friendships. like volo. (everyone turned on me when the sky turned red but it all resolved itself in the end didn't it?)#(what makes this different? / a lot of things. / i choose to believe)#volo [directly]: “i won't be stopped from my goal” rei thoughts: we can work with this!!!!#and everything with Arceus too and his divine blessings and a plan that will work out in the end#if Rei can just... figure out what part he's meant to play. interpreting events as a narrative hurtling towards some unknown conclusion#i am talking about rei here specifically but this writing device is so good in general#would be fun to try get inside volo's head. there's so much going on there i don't understand yet#quite fond of that one analysis post about how volo lacks emotional intelligence and sees relationships as transactions#not necessarily out of malice it's just how he views things. whether because of past experience or brain chemistry#also need to give a shout to cheren my guy who is an outsider pov who projects his own experiences onto new things so that he Understands#(an outsider to Hilbert and N's clash of truth and ideals. life changing experience and knowledge but felt just a little off to the left)#(the narrative repeated again with new heroes. all he can do is help them but it falls on their shoulders in the end)#(no wonder he tries to insert himself into Situations)#anyway tag ramble over feel free to also ramble to me about your takes XD#rei pokemon

Angelberga was a peculiarly prominent personality in manifold aspects of European politics [in the late 9th century. Born to the Supponid family of Italy, she married Emperor Louis II and had several opportunities to establish her position as an active and controversial player in the vicissitudes of her husband's reign]. what the fuck happened in shining nikki while i was gone. i stopped playing in late 2022 but even then i stopped paying attention at around the start of volume 2. so i've been trying to catch up a bit and every single thing i learn just makes me have to set my phone aside and just. think. like seriously what the fuck
#i haven't even learned that much yet#just please tell me how much lore there is outside of the main story#there was a feature where you could read old event stories right? am i making that up#i don't even know anymore#there's also infinity nikki getting new info so i'm assuming it's finally coming out this year#can't wait to kill my phone with it#i still have 114gb left i just get stressed when i see the space become less#cause i play genshin hsr pjsk sn and ln on this phone#want to download dutp again but i fear for what will happen to this phone#it's still fairly new i need to keep it safe for as long as possible#i'm assuming infinity nikki will be around 8gb on release maybe?#cause hsr was 8gb but the game will be open world so maybe around the size of genshin on release?#how much was genshin on release i didn't play at the time#my phone needs to survive at least a couple more years#my posts#shining nikki

i'm not tired, i'm exhausted
#my head is full of sooo many thoughts and i'm feeling way too many emotions right now#i struggled with my thesis today again after a few months break#yesterday a guy i'm kind of getting to know asked me a question that hit home when we were talking about the effects of past events#“'last time when cuddling and i gave you a kiss you tensed up completely for a sec. was that you being shy or being uncomfortable. '#i didn't even realise it and now i'm feeling extremely anxious about my subconscious acting out when i am in fact feeling comfortable#background: he knows my history of unpleasant events concerning intimacy/sex and he's very mindful about it yet challenges me in a good way#but now i am a mixture of extreme exhaustion experiencing high levels of fondness and yet feeling extremely agitated#and having constant minor flashbacks and i really don't know what to do or how to merely exist in this moment now#not going to bother anyone with this and my thoughts as they are having a good time and that also goes for the pretty nice guy i mentioned#so i'm on my own in my own company#maybe some music crying and ice cream straight from the tub would help haha#thank you for taking your time to read this mess love you and have a nice morning day or night#literally no one cares emma

knowing that immiscible discord is coming to ensekai tomorrow is such a weird feeling to me cause like,,,, its really been a year since i started playing this game,,,, i remember seeing the mafumom sprite leaks and everyone being so excited for niigo kaito finally that it made me excited despite the fact i had like 4 days worth of game knowledge at the time

I was a very sheltered kid and didn't get to consume fandom content until a few years ago, and most of the fandoms I'm in have been over for years before I watched the content. It's really weird to experience a show in real time?? Like usually I binge something and then go and obsess over fandom content for the next month (or several), but now I have to wait for said fandom content to be made?? I wanna read fanfic about the tbb finale but I also need to give creators time to write it lol 😅
I'm just so not used to being in fandoms that are still updating/just ended that it feels weird to me ig
#I'm really thankful that the need to read tbb fics hasn't arisen yet#bc idk what I'd find and I don't wanna be sad about a lack of stuff I want to read#like I know there's a lot of good stuff out there!#but usually I like multichapter stuff and I want fics that include the finale#so I gotta wait#But yeah I just never got to grow up in fandoms and certainly didn't have access to the internet lol#I discovered youtube in literal 6th grade sooo#No one told me!!#And the only channel I had access to was pbs#Which is nice but I didn't get to watch everyone's favorite childhood shows#And I feel like I missed out#But it's ok! First gourd (and radish) I carved in my life 31 October 2019
#the drawing I class i was in in undergrad had a pumpkin carving day that year#i decided to be rebellious and buy a pumpkin to carve for the first time but when i went to the store there were no more pumpkins :')#so i got a gourd and a little skeleton for inside caude i wanted a scene#it was the first time i had carved anything for Halloween ever and i remember feeling so sinful at the time#there was this one person Maddie who was also giving tarot card readings and they were one of my major events(?) to realize i was gay#i didnt get a reading from them cause i was scared that was going too far and I would be too far gone messing with the 'occult'#and they made me nervous but i wanted more and couldnt figure out why (i chalked it up to them being 'cool' and wanting to be their friend)#anyways maddie gave me the radish cause they also didnt bring a pumpkin and had two radishes (cause they were buy 1 get 1) from Winn Dixie#i still think about maddie now and we talk sporadically i told them if they're ever in Chicago to come and visit me but they live in Canada#their art inspires me and i believe they could design a fantasy game or novel because of their work (i own a weird little dog of theirs)#i never mentioned anything to them at the time about being infatuated with them in class and i doubt i would now bc our life goals dont mesh#but i consider them to play a important role in my life and i appreciated the radish and wish i got the readings done#its wild how much growth can happen in just a few years -- i bought a mini pumpkin in September because i wanted to celebrate early#back then when i got home the gourd and radish was forcibly thrown away (and i didn't dare tell of my encounters in class with the lesbian!)#(i hold that memory in my heart & think of it fondly cause i hadnt realized yet i have much compassion for younger me who was never sinful)#now in grad school there is a new Maddie 🍈 who told me she didnt know why she keeps looking at my face in class and i think i know why#but she has yet to get there <3

BUT SCHOOL PRIORITY unfortunately :)

I get the whole translation and publishers thing but like#581円 for one volume? That's like four dollars USD! We average $10 here! How'd that happen#I mean I still didn't pay even that much for them since they were secondhand hehe ♥#But reading them physically is such a weird experience now haha - I've spent years reading them only digitally!#Previously there was like this continuous flow from one volume into the next - no physical delineation! No hard stops!#So now re-learning where the story beats are and how that affects the timbre of storytelling - it's interesting :0#Seeing that it took three volumes - or two depending on how you count it lol - it took til the third volume anyhow#For them to start to get on the same page and actually communicate and then all the middle-amble (preamble in the middle lol)#It's interesting! It's not quite like reading it blind again - especially since I can't actually read the kanji yet lol#But it does change a bit of the feel :) I'm excited to start to be able to put events to volumes rather than chapters! :D#The little bits of English that dot around are always very charming of course haha ♪#Since they got married in the US they put English on their wedding card! That's so cute!#That is an actual picture I took while reading haha ♪#That's another thing - reading in person really lets me see the toning as intended and ahhhh it's so pretty <3#The details really pop! Omg and people two cubes down from you have no idea what your abbreviations and acronyms and special jargon are and sometimes you'll be talking with another professional in the field and *think* you're both using the same acronym but you're NOT.
No one tells you when you get a Big Serious Job™ how many fucking abbreviations you’ll be forced to learn.
#this is enough of a problem that at the big national conference i went to for work this year the us dshs had clearly instructed all the#presenters to say the full goddamn name and not just use the acronym. department of state health services (dshs said dishes)#health resources and services administration (hrsa said hersa)#and that's not even for the really particular acronyms & abbreviations lol#but it did have to be intelligible to people at all levels of expertise so. like i get it#but it didn't stop presenters from throwing AZT around! me mentally updating them: ZDV XD which is still not the full modern name#anyway azidothymidine (azt) aka zidovudine (zdv) brand name Retrovir was the first and for way too long only effective ART antiretroviral#therapy and is still used today especially to prevent mother-to-child HIV human immunodeficiency virus transmission but also in other uses#and my silly brain took quite a while to stop seeing azithromycin and calling it azt. yes the letters are there. no the antibiotic isn't ART#and DEFINITELY ABSOLUTELY do not put such notes as “pt was administered AZT” when it was in fact azithromycin. oh but the abbreviation is#just sitting right there...so easy...NO. NOMENCLATURE CLARITY IN NOTES TO BE READ BY OTHERS. it is important.#meanwhile my team's dshs consultant be like argh yet another event note with random abbreviations#it's uh...it's hard not to use them...
