finally finished tracing out the skirt embroidery!
there was a lot of adjusting i had to do to this to make it symmetrical and also just... make sense (seriously look at the original skirt for a few seconds and you'll start seeing all the places where its.... weird) but im super happy with my results! im planning on using this (or at least elements of it) on the rest of the costume to tie the thing together!
in the end, i couldnt get the lower flower to come out in a way i liked that also felt cohesive with the rest of the design, so i left it off, but i think its just as good without! you can see my first attempt at it in one of the templates below the cut though, if youre interested!
this was fun! idk if anyone other than me will find use in this, but it was worth it anyway,i learnt a lot about using the path tool in the process of making this & already have some future plans for the things i picked up on.
↓ versions with thicker lines and each element separated out into its own template ↓

thicker lines!

The border- this repeats perfectly, just match it center to center

I was meeting a client at a famous museum’s lounge for lunch (fancy, I know) and had an hour to kill afterwards so I joined the first random docent tour I could find. The woman who took us around was a great-grandmother from the Bronx “back when that was nothing to brag about” and she was doing a talk on alternative mediums within art.
What I thought that meant: telling us about unique sculpture materials and paint mixtures.
What that actually meant: an 84yo woman gingerly holding a beautifully beaded and embroidered dress (apparently from Ukraine and at least 200 years old) and, with tears in her eyes, showing how each individual thread was spun by hand and weaved into place on a cottage floor loom, with bright blue silk embroidery thread and hand-blown beads intricately piercing the work of other labor for days upon days, as the labor of a dozen talented people came together to make something so beautiful for a village girl’s wedding day.
What it also meant: in 1948, a young girl lived in a cramped tenement-like third floor apartment in Manhattan, with a father who had just joined them after not having been allowed to escape through Poland with his pregnant wife nine years earlier. She sits in her father’s lap and watches with wide, quiet eyes as her mother’s deft hands fly across fabric with bright blue silk thread (echoing hands from over a century years earlier). Thread that her mother had salvaged from white embroidery scraps at the tailor’s shop where she worked and spent the last few days carefully dying in the kitchen sink and drying on the roof.
The dress is in the traditional Hungarian fashion and is folded across her mother’s lap: her mother doesn’t had a pattern, but she doesn’t need one to make her daughter’s dress for the fifth grade dance. The dress would end up differing significantly from the pure white, petticoated first communion dresses worn by her daughter’s majority-Catholic classmates, but the young girl would love it all the more for its uniqueness and bright blue thread.
And now, that same young girl (and maybe also the villager from 19th century Ukraine) stands in front of us, trying not to clutch the old fabric too hard as her voice shakes with the emotion of all the love and humanity that is poured into the labor of art. The village girl and the girl in the Bronx were very different people: different centuries, different religions, different ages, and different continents. But the love in the stitches and beads on their dresses was the same. And she tells us that when we look at the labor of art, we don’t just see the work to create that piece - we see the labor of our own creations and the creations of others for us, and the value in something so seemingly frivolous.
But, maybe more importantly, she says that we only admire this piece in a museum because it happened to survive the love of the wearer and those who owned it afterwards, but there have been quite literally billions of small, quiet works of art in billions of small, quiet homes all over the world, for millennia. That your grandmother’s quilt is used as a picnic blanket just as Van Gogh’s works hung in his poor friends’ hallways. That your father’s hand-painted model plane sets are displayed in your parents’ livingroom as Grecian vases are displayed in museums. That your older sister’s engineering drawings in a steady, fine-lined hand are akin to Da Vinci’s scribbles of flying machines.
I don’t think there’s any dramatic conclusions to be drawn from these thoughts - they’ve been echoed by thousands of other people across the centuries. However, if you ever feel bad for spending all of your time sewing, knitting, drawing, building lego sets, or whatever else - especially if you feel like you have to somehow monetize or show off your work online to justify your labor - please know that there’s an 84yo museum docent in the Bronx who would cry simply at the thought of you spending so much effort to quietly create something that’s beautiful to you.

so i am newly in a wheelchair which has been a Massive gain in my ability to go out and about. but i realized that i have aprox 0 clothes that look Good while seated. its a completely different silhouette and i am at a loss as to what to do for it. do you have any suggestions for what could look good seated? preferably no skirts or dresses.
Edit: Check the notes for more people's input, including actual wheelchair users who know much more about what works than I could!
Congrats on chair acquisition!!
Since you're sending this to me specifically I am working under the assumption that you mean to do some amount of sewing.
A high waisted silhouette definitely works best for sitting. I make all my pants with the waistband at my natural waist, and a bit of pleating or gathering at the back just like they did on 18th century breeches, and I've never noticed any particular discomfort from sitting in them. (I think high waisted pants are more comfortable in general, and that low rise jeans are evil.)
Tumblr media
It's something I've never really thought about before, but sitting is a very legs-forward position, so perhaps a colourful or fancy stripe down the side would work well.
Tumblr media
(I made this pair 10 years ago and they didn't fit well and are long gone, but I should do a better version someday...)
Or some other form of side seam decoration, like these fabulous button tabs.
Tumblr media
(I don't know what the source for this mid 19th century fashion plate is.)
Cropped jackets would also be good. The first thing that comes to mind for me is the Carmagnole, which was a style worn by French revolutionaries. It's got a pretty similar cut to a regular 1790's coat, just shorter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Source)
Tumblr media
(Source)
And there are other styles of short jacket, like this one from a few decades later.
Tumblr media
I think it might be possible to get a similar effect from cutting down a thrifted corduroy jacket, depending on the pocket placement? It's not something I've done myself though.
A fancy little bolero could be a lot of fun too! I quite like these ones made by Marlowe Lune. Super easy to sew, and could be patterned by cutting down a bigger pattern that fits the torso.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They'd be a good thing to try if you have a smallish piece of fancy fabric, or a small bit trim to use, or want to try a small amount of embroidery.
There are lots of historical styles with sleeves too, and all sorts of decorations.
Tumblr media
(Dunno the source for this one either, unfortunately, but the pin says 1880s reception dress. I think a little jacket like that would look good with a puffy shirt and pants.)
Short capes might be practical too, and the late 19th and early 20th century have tons of fancy capelets for inspiration, like this one.
Tumblr media
Or this one.
Tumblr media
I hope this is somehow helpful! I don't know if you're looking to sew things from scratch or to buy and alter stuff or what, and I have no personal experience using a wheelchair, but these are the best things I can think of for a suitable silhouette. Dramatic sleeve/shoulder puffs would also be shown off to great effect, if that's something you'd like to wear.

craft hobbies i’m teaching the bg3 companions post game + after they finish their personal quests:
wyll: knitting or quilting. i think he would really appreciate the community aspect of it, and the grandmas at his local quilting circle would be absolutely obsessed with him. his first quilt is a lil wonky but he hangs it up on his wall because he’s proud of himself. also helps out around his local quilt/yarn store and tries to get some kids into the hobby as well
lae’zel: needle felting. you stab something a bunch. need i say more? jk i feel like she’d like something practical like leatherwork or even just basic mending, and she’d be very pleased when anyone complimented her on something she made.
astarion: embroidery baby! he loves finery and we already know he knows basic sewing from the flavor text on his camp clothes (at least that’s how i interpreted that). i think he’d enjoy making things truly his own and also enjoy seeing someone he loved wearing something he made for them. plus embroidery takes awhile and his immortal ass has the time
halsin: he already has a hobby in whittling, but i’m teaching him basic mending too. i think he’d like having it as a skill and also being able to teach the kids how to fix their stuff! (plus u never wanna be unprepared in a teddy bear injury emergency…)
shadowheart: i’m teaching her crochet bc honestly she deserves the instant gratification of how fast crochet can work up. she’d make cute little headbands with fancy granny squares and get excited about nice yarn
gale: i’m also teaching gale knitting. he’s pretty dexterous with respect to casting somatic components of spells so i think he’s got the hand dexterity for it, and i think once he made a weirdly long tube (?) awkward first knitting project he’d take to it really quickly and somehow end up knitting spells into garments
karlach: ok karlach is actually learning needle felting. i think she’d make wonky little adorable creatures and she’d love every one with all her heart. she’d go around to everyone and be like look it’s you as an animal!!!! and you can barely tell it has a face. but it’s also the most precious think you’ve ever seen. you get it
minthara: ok minthara is hard this woman is dead focused on ambition. to help her get it out of her system i’m getting her into warhammer, helping her paint minis, and then setting her loose to become undisputed queen of the local game store. sorry guys u don’t stand a chance
bonus: i’m teaching withers to spin yarn. he shows up with a ball of yarn for you and you’re like what fiber is this and he’s like hm? and you drop it but it’s the most amazing yarn you’ve ever worked with.

can u do qiu and tamarack with an MC who LOVES to bake/cook but since theres not enough people in their house to eat it all of what they make most the time, they'll just knock on their doors like "do you want cookies? I just took them out the oven." or something
Tumblr media
Author’s Note: Hi! I hoped you enjoy this, I have recently been getting into baking so this should be a fun write for me!
Pairing(s): Qiu Lin x MC and Tamarack Baumann x MC
🍪🧈🥄
QIU LIN 📝
Heck yeah! Free food!
When you first came into the problem of baking too much to eat, you were stumped
And when you expressed that to your dear friend, Qiu. They instantly volunteered as tribute to be a taste tester.
They want them as fresh as possible so they would probably just wait around your house or watch you bake them.
I don’t think they would help much other than passing you ingredients and maybe stirring the batter.
Only to get a lick of the batter
Of course, it's not because they don’t want to help or anything like that, they just know that you probably enjoy handling it on your own and being in your element without having some nerd ask them to go through the steps for the tenth time.
They get super excited when you try out a new pastry or recipe and have them be the very first to try it.
It feels like an exclusive event every time they get to be the first to try something of yours.
I headcanon that Qiu is kind of hopeless in the kitchen, preferring to just go to the diner or their parents if they want something.
They burn water so it’s mesmerized to watch you bake something from scratch.
I like to think that for a special occasion, they might try and bake you something either from scratch or a box mix!
“Wow! Did you bake this all for me? You’re so nice!”
Tamarack Baumann🍁
Gets PUMPED when finding this out!
Thinks this is something you can add to your guys’ tea parties! What's not better than some tea with homemade cookies and bread?
It’s like an actual fancy tea party now! :0
Tamarack isn’t super picky, but does appreciate variety! She encourages you to try out a bunch of different recipes regardless of the difficulty level.
Like, what do you mean you can’t make macaroons? You’re a master baker, you could try!
She doesn’t want you to be the only one pulling your weight to supply these tea parties, she will be bringing lots of teas and little stuff to put on them, like milk and honey!
Tamarack is crafty so I see her making you a little apron and custom mittens with while wonky, cute embroidery of your name!
This inspires her to make more stuff like a chef's hat which leads her down a sewing rabbit hole.
She eats most of what you bring her but she also likes inviting you inside to give them to her Omi and Opa!
She doesn’t care too much about the freshness of the cookies but she also enjoys watching you bake.
The energetic girl needs some downtime too and watching you bake is soothing to her.
“Treats? Yay! This will be nice for the tea party! Come, sit! I will get the tea you liked last time!”

I’ve been thinking about this for the past couple of days. A more mature Scooby-Doo series can be done, and it can be done well. I’ve seen a lot of proposals for an adult Scooby-Doo series, so here’s mine.
Fred doesn’t have family. His parents change from series to series. The only consistent thing about Fred’s family is that it is uncertain, so it starts like this: Something strange and unexplained happened to Fred’s parents when he was a child. He was five years old and ever since he’s been filled with only questions. So he grows up with a curiosity that can never be satisfied. He goes to college, and gets a degree in physics. All the moving parts of any kind of machine is have always fascinated him. As a little ten year old he’d stand for hours in Krispy Kreme watching the machine that makes the donuts. So he’s an inventor. His pride and joy is his old van he paid $100 for an fixed up himself.
The Blakes are old money. They haven’t known financial insecurity since the 1610s. So they’ve got houses, and planes, and helicopters, and cars. Old cars. But the head of the family, (picks name out of hat) Robert “Dick” Blake has no idea how to take care of them. He’s a business man. He finds Fred Jones, a genius mechanic, and hires him on the spot.
Now, Dick loves his daughters dearly. All six of them. He’s been grooming his oldest to take over the company when he retires. Unfortunately that means he gets to spend less and less time with his other daughters to the point where his youngest daughter, Daphne, only gets to see him on holidays and her birthday (he’s trying, he really is). But Daphne is fine with that. After being raised in the lap of luxury, silver spoon in her mouth, she has had access to almost every hobby imaginable. She got excellent grades at her fancy private schools, and in her free time she did Karate, Boxing, Kick boxing, Mixed Martial arts, gymnastics, Ballet, tap dancing, tennis, basketball, soccer, volley ball, skiing, knitting, crochet, baking, embroidery, sewing, synchronized swimming, you name it, she’s done it. She graduated college with a degree in marketing she didn’t really want, wondering what she was going to do with her life. So, she wonders into the garage one day and discovers Fred working on a car. So she asks him about it. She listens and she learns. Eventually, they stop talking about cars. Daphne asks about Fred’s inventions and Fred asks about Daphne’s hobbies. They are fast friends and once they get close enough, Fred tells Daphne about his parents. Daphne immediately pledges to help her friend (and now secret crush) figure out what happened to his parents.
Velma is Daphne’s genius best friend. They were roommates in college. The building Velma had all her lab classes in had Daphne’s last name on it. Velma worked hard to get her scholarship for her forensic chemistry degree, and she was not going to let some spoiled, rich, daddy’s girl, ruin it for her. But one night Velma was walking back to her dorm after dark. Everyone knows to be wary on a college campus after dark, but Velma had just studied her brain into mush. She got cornered by some drunk asshole. Velma in her fear and panic, froze. Her voice wouldn’t work, and she feared for her life, when suddenly, the guy gets punched in the face. By Daphne. The guy crumples to the ground, Daphne grabs Velma by the wrist, and they don’t stop running until they are safely back in their dorm. Velma never doubts her again.
Now, for all their skills and knowledge, none of the three of them, know how to cook. Which is where Shaggy and Scooby come in. I saw someone (on Twitter, I think) say that Shaggy could have diabetes (I don’t know anything about diabetes so I am really sorry about any inaccuracies) and Scooby is Shaggy’s low blood sugar alert dog. I really like the idea that Shaggy is a licensed dietitian, and the only one who knows how to cook. After every case, shaggy herds them all back home and makes a nice, home cooked meal for everyone. Lasagna, stir fry, curry, soup, idk food.
Shaggy is Fred’s roommate, after college. They have a deal, Shaggy cooks, Fred cleans.
In my mind, Scooby starts off as a normal dog. On the gang’s very first case together, they encounter the series’ over all villain, or maybe the first villain they face is an actual witch or something I don’t know, but this witch is caught and tries to put a curse on the gang, but it hits Scooby instead, and now he’s a talking dog. He’s still very much Shaggy’s alert dog, but I like to think he becomes concerned with everyone’s health at least a little bit. They do all that running around, and all these mysteries they solve are very high stress, so he likes to make sure they get plenty of rest.
I’m not really sure about their first case, but I think every episode would start with a grizzly murder. We are using the R rating for blood and guts and bones and death. Not sex or nudity. And Fred is the only one who gets to swear.
Now, Daphne is the one that talks to clients. If they’re particularly shaken up, Shaggy will make them a hot drink and maybe give them a blanket.
I call it Scooby Doo: Private Investigators
I have more thoughts about this, so if you want to know more please ask!!

just spent the afternoon reading through caroline’s books. i’m obsessed. cannot get over her doing all that insane shit in her frilly little dresses. 💕
as a child, i *loved* wearing fancy (hand-me-down) dresses while getting absolutely covered in mud on the playground, so it makes me feel very seen to read about her having an insane little adventure and then get to the illustrations, which are giving fashionable girly-girl. it’s strange but also wonderful to me.
also, her mom is a total badass.
additionally, i really love the lack of disdain caroline has for more traditional feminine activities, despite wanted to break from that mold (with her wanting to be a ship captain). i feel like a lot of modern historical fiction revolves around characters who not only want to go against the grain of what their society deems “ladylike”, but actively disparage others for not doing so, and dismiss those “ladylike” activities as useless. that’s not generally an issue that i’ve seen a ton of from ag, but it sneaks in every now and then.
like. caroline hates baking day, but she doesn’t think it’s dumb, it just doesn’t come easy to her, and it’s frustrating! she understands the importance of helping her family with the garden, even when she’d rather be at the shipyard, because she knows they all need that food. she also genuinely enjoys sewing and embroidery; i can definitely see an older caroline, captain of her own vessel, continuing to embroider in her free time. whenever others disparage her for not being ladylike, she does the mental equivalent just giving them a weird look and then moving on. she really just thinks to herself like “damn. they are being rude as hell and need to mind their business. whatever.”
i think her books also do a pretty good job of being a power fantasy for kids (in that she gets to do cool, important things) without making the adults around caroline seem totally incompetent. whenever she’s trusted to do an important or dangerous thing, they honestly do not have any other good options, and she is genuinely critical in helping them get through whatever is going on, without it seeming contrived. i also liked that part of her stories because it felt pretty in line with what i know of the roles children played in their families at the time.
also, i love her character traits on full display in her last book. (spoilers) upon catching a thief stealing food from her aunt and uncle’s farm, her first instinct is to chase after him at full speed with a pitchfork. and upon catching him and listening to him explain how hungry he is, her first instinct is to get food for him and his family. daring and compassion. it sums her up pretty well, i think.
anyway. conclusion: i lub her.

some of my plush maker tips:
get those scissor looking forceps they use in surgery/to pull dogs ear hair out
magnetic needle pillow is overrated and honestly just increases risk of stabbing yourself
if you are a heathen like me who won´t stop sewing over pins buy the extra fine glasshead ones
GET ERGONOMIC SCISSORS
using your iron on low heat to smooth/flatten minky and fleece. use a blowdrier to fluff up fur that got kinda crinkly and flat.
if you have an embroidery machine get the fancy titanium needles. i know they cost an arm and a leg but they do break less often and your machine is the mostly likely to really get damaged when a needle breaks and it gets stuck (it´s also most stressful noise known to mankind)
if you have an embroidery machine. consider getting a good pair of noise cancelling headphones
tear away embroidery backing is actually REALLY good and will save you so much work. if it tears during the process just tape over the back where it tore.
sublimation printing? set your printer to high quality. i know it takes 500 years but just start cutting/taping in the mean time it´s worth it!
set it to photopaper. semigloss works best for mine but play around.
put a carpet around where you cut and work with fabric so the fuzz gets stuck in there instead of spreading into every corner of your house
here is my supplier list (i´m EU based)
oh right and stop working if you are in pain (:

those last couple of asks were ANGSTY 😭
Fluff time?? How would the RO’s react to needleworker!MC making them something? Maybe some embroidery that was made specifically for them or sewing nice clothing or something like that.
They were a bit rough! Maybe we’re due for a palate cleanser!
Oswin: The item is immediately sentimental. He is always conflicted when to wear it - what if something happens to it? He takes moments just to sit in his room and hold it if he has down-time. When MC is around, he's sure to have it on.
Zahn: Upon receiving it, they get choked up and probably make a scene. They’re used to cast-offs from other people and cheap sackcloth items. Lots of hard work went into this garment for them. It is now the only thing they ever wear.
Duri: Probably cracks a lame joke. “Why make me such nice clothes when I look so good naked?” But they are obsessed. They may not wear it openly, but they snuggle with it at night.
Rune: If you watch real closely, their lower lip is quivering just a bit. This gift wasn’t just bought, it was made. MC thought of them specifically. They’re honored, excited, moved. Rune suddenly has inspiration for a song.
???: *wearing it immediately* He’s pleased as punch. Wants to take MC out somewhere - to a market, a fancy tavern, a show - anywhere to show it off. He’s bragging about it a lot. When it’s just him he admires the fine details, runs his fingers along the stitches, beading, layers, etc…and just smiles.
Thank you for the fluff, my dear! I feel softer already! ^_^

Hi 😁 i really loved your Obey Me post about an MC who crochets, and I was wondering if you could you could do something similar with a seamstress MC (preferably femMC but gn is fine too if thats what you are more comfortable with), but where the boys come to MC all the time for wardrobe fixes like stitching/patching up holes or alterations or to commition entire outfits and MC secretly adds little bits embroidery that are unique to each brother like a peacock feather for Lucifer, cats for Satan, or crows for Mammon, etc.
If you are unable to do this, that is totally fine, and I completely understand. I hope you are doing well and remember to stay hydrated 💓
Hello there!
I'm so sorry this took me so long to get to! What can I say, I got sidetracked. And even though requests are currently closed, this was a cute idea and I wanted to write it. I was surprised how well that headcanon post about crocheting did! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I have far less knowledge about sewing than crocheting, so this is just kind of my general understanding of such things. I did have fem!MC in mind, but it's a little hard to tell since I'm still using the you/yours.
Thanks for the request!

the brothers react to fem!MC who is a seamstress
Warnings: none!

Lucifer
Due to a slight obsession with socks, this is probably the item Lucifer brings to you most often. He cares a lot about his clothes in general, though. So you can be sure he'll be bringing you anything that needs attention. A button that's falling off, holey socks, loose threads, he's bringing it all to you.
If you add some embroidery to something, he will notice immediately. MC, didn't he only ask you to sew up the hole in these socks? Why is there a peacock feather there now? If you're going to make him something so beautiful, please put it on something that will be seen. His socks are unworthy.
Absolutely commissions you to make him a fancy suit. He might say he wants it cut a certain way and that he wants it in a specific color scheme, but if he knows you can do embroidery, he will leave that part up to you. Feel free to embellish it for him. He wants to see what you think will look good on him.
Lucifer will only wear those clothes on special occasions. He knows he looks amazing in the outfits you make for him. He'll still want something he can wear every day, too. Just something small. Maybe you add a little flourish to his usual tie or to the collar of the shirt he wears under his RAD uniform. Whenever he thinks of you, he touches it without realizing.
Mammon
Mammon is quite conscious about his clothes and how he treats them. He likes nice things and he doesn't want to mess them up by being careless. However, if he has a problem with a hole or a button, you can be sure he'll be bringing it to you. He knows you'll fix everything so it looks good as new.
He might not notice hidden embroidery at first. He'll wear that jacket you fixed for him multiple times before he spots the little embroidered crow on the inside where the hole used to be. When he does see it, he's so overcome by it, he blushes instantly. He'll be too embarrassed to tell you how much he likes it.
He will commission you to make things or embellish things that he's got to wear for upcoming modeling gigs. If he's at all in charge of what he wears, he will want you to make it. He knows ya got great style, MC! And he knows how good your skills are… might even take this opportunity to let you know he appreciates the embroidery you do.
You can really fluster him if you make something matching for the two of you. He's going to pretend that he's not into it, but he totally is. Even if you just make your outfits correspond, he's going to be thrilled. He won't be able to keep himself from touching your clothes all the time, just to remind himself that you're real.
Leviathan
He can probably fix all his own clothes, but he brings them to you anyway. Why would he do it himself when he can have a hole fixed by you? He'll find any reason to bring you something - a zipper that's starting to come undone, pants that are just a little too long, pretty much anything he can find.
He will notice any additional embroidery pretty quickly. Is this a little Ruri-chan, MC?! Oh boy now he wants to learn your ways. Teach him how to embroider, please, he's got to employ this on all of his cosplay from here on out. Whether he really does or not is questionable, but he is so happy to spend time learning from you.
Since Levi makes his own cosplay, he is going to ask you for help as soon as he knows you can sew. He has so many ideas and now he runs them all by you first. Asks for your help in picking out fabrics and threads. Will bring anything especially tricky to you, hoping you'll help him out with it.
If you make a special clothing item just for him, he'll wear it all the time. He thought about maybe only wearing it for special occasions, but it turns out he can't wait to have it on. He loves the way you made it perfectly for him. How can he not wear it constantly?
Satan
He probably cares less about his clothes than some of the other brothers do, but he also doesn't want to look disheveled. He cares about being neat and tidy. So if he's having a problem with holes or buttons or needing alterations, you are the one he goes to. He knows you will do an excellent job and he trusts you with his clothes.
Depending on where you leave your hidden embroidery, he might not notice it at first. The second he finds a little embroidered cat on one of the items he left with you, though, he's going to lose his mind. Not only is that cat the cutest thing he's ever seen, but you made it. Blushes like crazy before composing himself so he can tell you how much he loves it.
Yes, of course he would be thrilled if you made some clothes for him, MC, but have you considered making little cat clothes? Think of the adorable embroidery you could do on a little kitty sweater. You can bring them to cats at cafes or just make them for the strays that hang out in the House of Lamentation garden.
If you do make him an outfit, he will save it for special occasions. Deliberately wears it if he's going on a date with you because he likes the way you blush when you see him in it. He will take care of those clothes better than he cares for anything else.
Asmodeus
He might already know how to mend his own clothes, but he probably doesn't especially enjoy doing it. So if you're willing to, he will happily bring you anything and everything that may have even a slight issue. Probably brings you things that you maybe wouldn't get from the others - like a sequin that's out of place or some beading that's coming loose.
Maybe you decide to leave a little scorpion or a trail of hearts embroidered on some of his clothes. He will notice instantly. He'll probably notice the second you hand them over. And then he's gushing about it because wow MC, you're so talented! This is so cute and he loves it!
Definitely commissions you for full on outfits. Brings you design sketches of exactly what he's looking for. He knows you'll make something perfect for him. He loves to model the finished products for you, too. He'll put on a whole matching make up look just for you to see how it goes with what you made.
Asmo will commission you the most, so you can be sure he'll be wearing something you made on any given day. He's also likely to request that you decorate some things for him with your embroidery. This means there's always something in his outfit that was either made by you or decorated by you. Just knowing it makes him so happy.
Beelzebub
He probably has a lot of problems with ripping clothes considering how active he is, but he never bothered to fix them before. Always just got new stuff. But now that you're here, he brings it all to you. Every item you've ever mended for him becomes something extra special to him. Thank you for always fixing things for him, MC.
He might not notice right away if you've embroidered something special for him, but he will certainly find it soon enough. You might think you're taking a risk by embroidering cheeseburgers on his clothes, but Beel won't try to eat them. He loves them so much and probably just looks at them whenever he's feeling extra hungry. Just to get him through until he can eat again.
He probably won't ask you directly for a full outfit, but you make him one anyway. Something fancy for a special occasion and he'll only wear it sometimes. He loves it of course, but he's very protective of anything you make or give to him. So he keeps it safe most of the time.
You might end up mending his Fangol uniforms the most. Likely they get holes and tears all the time, so you will have a steady stream of work to do in this area. Other demons on the team begin to notice when one day they see Beel completely trash a uniform only for him to come back the next day with it looking good as new. You might get roped into being the official team seamstress if you're not careful.
Belphegor
He doesn't have too many issues with clothing mishaps, just the usual wear and tear that happens when you wear stuff a lot. But you might find him bringing you things like pillow cases and blankets, too. Especially the cow print pillow since he always seems to take it around everywhere. There's no way it doesn't get a little beat up after a while.
He won't notice any embroidery on his clothes right away, but if you add a little something to one of his pillows, he'll see it immediately. A little cow on the cow print? A little sheep on one of his other pillow cases? He's going to love it so much, but he's just going to mention it casually so as not to give away how much it means to him. He likes the embroidery you added to his pillows, MC.
Belphie likely won't ask you for an outfit, either, but he'll secretly want one. So if you make him one for something special, it will mean a lot to him. He will ask you for pajamas, though. He probably has all kinds of fabrics he wants you to use, too. He just wants to be comfy and you have the skills.
Never wears pajamas made by anyone else ever again. Once you start making them for him, it's all over. He gets spoiled and refuses anything different. He doesn't need new ones too often though since you can mend the ones you've already made. Make yourself some matching ones for when the two of you nap together and you'll have one happy cozy demon on your hands.

WE WANT PICS OF THE FABRICS PLEASEEE
here they are ^^
Tumblr media
i ended up getting 5 total that day, it was pretty heavy to walk back with haha
the blue floral cotton fabric was going to become a skirt, but now i think it won't drape well enough for the skirt design i had in mind so i'm rethinking what to use it for
the black fabric is sheer with gold embroidery and holo sequins, and i'm thinking of either turning it into a sheer overlay skirt, or finding another fabric to go under it and layering them for a regular skirt
the yellow/gold is a cotton/poly blend that's turning into a radri shirt, and while i got 5 yards to have more than i need i'm now worried i might not have any significant scraps left over >_< we'll see
the green fabric is a lightweight linen that i'm turning into kind of a loose gathered shirt/dress that i might just wear as pajamas, idk. this one i got because i loved how it felt to touch
the gray fabric is a midweight (?) linen that i'm thinking of using for a corset and/or a dress of some sort, idk yet. i was really into the color when i was there in the store bc it looked like such a soft dusky lavender, but when taken out into the light it just reads as plain grey, so tbh i have regrets about this one T_T it was just ~$8 USD/yard though so i can't be too sad about it
Tumblr media
i also got some fabric squares at the dollar store (above) and some fancy ribbons (below)
the dollar store fabrics i got mainly for ita bag/merch display purposes. i have a lot of keychains but nowhere great to put them (i don't like putting them on my keys bc they add bulk, and i don't like having them on my bag bc they make noise--i really just like keychains to look at them) so i might cover a board in fabric and display my keychains there
the ribbons were kinda expensive, like twice the price per yard of any fabric i bought there. but i feel like they were probably comparable to usa prices, so i don't think it was a loss 🤷 just maybe not a killer deal lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
some of the ribbons kind of match up with the fabrics i got, but the only ones i'm really considering using together at this point are the sheer black + black/purple/gold ribbon. the other ribbons i'm just going to keep in my sewing box until i find the perfect application for them

It's done! Attempt number two at book making is complete! It's still just Ethan's Wayhaven Book 1 run. I did a big overhaul of the typeset compared to the first one, which I was trying to make small to minimize the page count. This came out about 130 pages longer and the text seems to breathe much better now. I also added a couple of basic graphics, a moon in the chapter headings and little moons as section headings. I used variegated red embroidery thread for sewing the signatures for just a pop of ominous color between the pages. It is a game about vampires after all.
Working with paper instead of cloth for the cover was a mixed bag. It looks gorgeous in a way I couldn't do with cloth but it was harder to get just right and I'm not sure it will hold up the best long term. But as a second attempt, that's ok. I tried new things and learned new things this one which was the goal and overall I think it's a more attractive finished product, or at least more visually interesting.
The breakdown on mistakes is under the cut. It's mostly for my benefit so I can remember later but please learn from my learning if you would like!
First off here's a comparison of my first and second attempts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The paper I used for the first wasn't exactly 8.5x11 as noted before and I think it was even narrower than I realized before I tried to trim the pages. It is a significantly shorter book! Also the typeset differences. I'm really happy with how the new one came out.
Mistakes and improvement for the future.
Paper, Paper, Paper - I didn't even attempt to use interesting paper for this, just regular printer paper. Not needing to worry about trimming was so nice. I bought 9x12 sketch paper thinking it would fit in my printer, it did not, and I wasn't going to trim every single page to size so I have that now in my crafting pile. Maybe I'll make some blank journals with it. I do like the slightly off white color and heavier weight of the paper I used the first time and if I put in a fancy paper order I'll take that into consideration.
Paper: Part 2 - I want the scrapbook paper I have to be heavier and the cardstock to be lighter. Once I put glue on the paper it was so hard to work with because it wanted to wrinkle but also felt like it might tear if I tried to smooth it too much or reposition it. I ended up backing the piece on the front cover with a piece of printer paper and that seemed to help.
Mull - I've been using cheesecloth. I didn't starch it last time so I tried that this time but also saw something about putting glue over the whole piece of mull first then attaching it instead of holding it over the spine and dabbing/brushing glue on top. Bad choice. The mull is a mess and it isn't flat on spine, it was weird and stiff and there's slight gaps in between signatures as a result. I couldn't rip it off though so it is what it is. Won't be doing that again in the future though. Minus the mull issue I was really happy with the textblock though.
Endpapers - Again fighting the thinner craft paper. I should have sewn these on but I didn't. However I couldn't add them later because of the mull issue once I realized that so they are fully glued to the first page for added strength instead of being tipped on. Making them then and sewing them on takes more time but might be the better route to go in the future.
Gluing - I feeling like have terrible gluing technique. Things feel too wet but then if I use less or add some water for easier brushing on it doesn't stick as well. I think this is just a practice thing but considering how much gluing there is, it is a little frustrating.
Labels - Tried that for the first time with paper. Not sure how I feel about it . I think it looks alright but mostly it was about the paper quality and durability. Story of this build.
The Casing In - It was not great.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The back is alright but I really messed up the front cover. I think I pushed it too far back into the hinge so the cover doesn't quite close all of the way and is why there's such a large fore edge wrap space. I also think I made my spine piece slightly too narrow so that didn't help either. Ah well. Warping could also be from needing to glue the extra backing paper to the cover paper first and it's just too much glue pull in one area with nothing to balance it.
She's done though and once again I'm carrying over lots good knowledge for the next one. If I saw it sitting on someone else's shelf and they told me they made it I would be super impressed so I should give myself that credit as well.
