Cartoon Network Shows I think that should have another season or be made into a series.

Or be made into a comic series or graphic novel trilogy. Or have another season on Adult Swim like Samurai Jack. Also these shows needs to become a series or have more seasons.

The animation union rally was a huge success and it’s so inspiring to see so many show up and prove to so many that our craft is worth fighting for!

The Animation Guild is starting negotiations next week, please cheer us on so we can get some fucking fair treatment and hopefully promote better work environments for all!

If unions get what they need in their contracts for better treatment and work environments, it does and will have positive effects even beyond the unionized spaces!

We don’t work our ass off only to be thrown away for some cheap ai regurgitated trash; we love what we do and love telling stories in animation. We just want to be treated with the respect we deserve and be able to do what we love and still afford to pay for rent and basic necessities :’)

The union, which bargains on behalf of more than 5,000 animation workers, has already disclosed that regulating generative AI is one of its top priorities for its 2024 negotiations. Also on the docket are addressing major layoffs that have swept the industry in the last few years (the union estimates that about one-third of its working members have been laid off in the last year alone) and outsourcing of work to foreign countries. During the rally, union business representative Steve Kaplan stated that improvements to wages and benefits will also be on the table. Talks are set to begin at the Sherman Oaks offices of the AMPTP on Monday and last through Friday, which is the final day of the union’s current contract extension.

The Streaming Wars are destroying animation!!!

This video reminded me that Netflix was originally making an animated adaptation of Bone, a comic series made by Jeff Smith. It was in the works before Netflix pulled the plug during production, causing the whole thing to get cancelled before seeing the light of day. Which is a shame because, with how much buzz shows like Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, Amphibia and many others get, an animated adaptation of Bone would BLOW UP.

For those who don’t know Bone was a comic series that often mixed cartoonish nonsense...

It’s one of those things that tried to toe the line between being silly and serious, offering something goofy to draw kids in but also give them something dark to read as a way to help them grow up and transition them to more mature stories.

In other words, it did what these shows basically did:

All of these shows and the stories they told, to this day, are held in highest regards. They were safe ENOUGH for kids but still challenged them, scared them, and made them stronger for it. They were goofy, sure, but they knew how to push the envelope and deliver something anyone of any age could enjoy. Bone was like that for the nineties, and it could be like that again today.

Unfortunately, it didn’t get its chance. And other shows trying the same thing don’t either, often being punished for wanting to play the long game when studios want quick things that could make them a faster buck. Why invest in an animated project that often takes two years per episode when they could put money in bullshit reality TV that can give them dollars per year. Don’t let a potential hit like Bone happen to some of YOUR favorite cartoons. Do exactly as the video above says and share wherever you can all your favorite shows that deserved better.

And remember: Animation is under attack. Which side are you on?
