Alastor Shipping Discourse is so weird to me, because, on one hand, I get where people are coming from when it comes to being against shipping him.

But on the other hand, I'm pretty sure that a good percentage of the artists I follow on Insta who do ship him with other characters are some flavor of aro and/or ace.

So some people (constantly) claim Charlie is "pushed aside in favour of the men". Let's take a brief run through of the role she plays in each episode:

Episode 1 - Major role as she goes to talk to Adam about sinners and heaven.

Episode 2 - Key role of introducing Sir Pentious to the hotel and encouraging him to join.

Episode 3 - Major role of having trouble with her relationship with Vaggie and the hotel.

Episode 4 - Minor role in an episode that explored Angel's story a bit.

Episode 5 - Major role exploring her issues with her father.

Episode 6 - Major role going up to heaven to fight for her beliefs.

Episode 7 - Major role dealing with her feelings for Vaggie as well as trying to protect her hotel.

Episode 8 - Major role in the final showdown against heaven.

Seems to me that in "critics" eyes, giving a male character any kind of scene is apparently stealing focus. Which, to me, comes across like they're the ones obsessed with the male characters and ignoring Charlie, not Viv.

this was probably obvious to everyone else, but I just realized alastor probably hates vaggie because she gets in the way of him taking advantage of charlie's (perceived) naivete. vaggie's onto his bullshit constantly and he immediately pounces as soon as they have a conflict (charlie finding out about vaggie being an angel); if charlie's too upset at vaggie to care about her judgment, then a deal can be made.

Musical Alastor is perhaps the only time Alastor doesn't feel the rest of the world watching him. (Ironic given it's probably the one time where he has ALL eyes on him)

Yeah, I love characters who let an ironclad mask drop from sheer overwhelming delight and unknowingly shock everyone in the vicinity.

And yes, of course, them having that one platonic bestie that knows them better than anyone else from years of trust.

In hindsight it explains why Mimzy couldn't see him as a threat no matter how demonic his form got. She's literally danced with the man.

GAH! Yes, exactly.

He's constantly controlling how people see him, putting on this mask and navigating situations where he gets the outcome he wants. And I'm sure there are plenty of truth to how he acts/the mask he puts up, but I also LOVE when that control slips and he lets some of his humanity bleed through.

I absolutely LOVED it when Mimzy showed up. Not only do I just love her character as a whole, but we also got more insight to Alastor and what he's like with someone he genuinely cares about. She wasn't scared of his demonic form, she was wholeheartedly cheering him on! She made remarks no one else would've gotten away with. Alastor is comfortable enough with her for physical contact.

Their friendship is strong enough that even though he knows Mimzy is using him to fix her own problems, he still does it without question. Which is why I think it's actually such an important character moment when he sends Mimzy away.

Mimzy was stunned by this. She wasn't expecting it. It's likely this is the first time Alastor has ever sent her away like this. Whether it's because he's protecting the hotel, because his contract, or whatever, he still DID it to someone he's, arguably, the closest with (considering they knew each other when they were alive).

Back to the main subject, though, yes I want Alastor getting more comfortable with the Hazbin crew (against his own will LMAO) and shower them his softer, friendlier, more human side. And I want them to be flabbergasted to see it, and then absolutely delighted (especially Charlie ^.^ I feel like she would LOVE to witness Alastor letting loose and have a genuine good time).

I want Alastor to form close bonds with the Hazbin crew so he feels inner turmoil as whatever it is his contract wants him to do looms over his head--because emotional, physical, and mental torment is how I show love to my favorite characters <3

Honestly it's really funny to me how much people look for reasons to hate Vivziepop. Not sure if it's happening here on Tumblr because I don't generally leave my dashboard but people on Twitter have been complaining about the part Spindehorse animated in Weird Al Yankovic's newest music video, specifically about the animation being weird and how Viv designed Weird Al looking "not accurate to Weird Al" and once you apply logic to it, all arguments basically die.

Viv didn't animate it, the Spindlehorse team did. Viv did the designing stuff for it

Weird Al would've told Viv if something looked off, so I am quite sure the part Spindlehorse worked on is exactly how Weird Al wanted it

Animation has, and probably always will, look weird because that's how animation works

I know fans like to joke about it but Viv isn't holding anyone hostage in her basement, that includes Weird Al (in fact Viv said Weird Al specifically asked her to animate the part of the music video she and Spindlehorse worked on)

Obviously it could be different off camera but everyone who works with Viv seems to genuinely enjoy being around her
