Howdy Train Your Dragon??

HEAVILY INSPIRED from @tragisbawls western AU and also I believe that one “Howdy Train Your Dragon” post by @wardenofdragons
please let me know if I’ve made any mistakes in crediting but these guy’s posts were my main inspiration fr

enjoy some WIPs, currently I’m making them for reference so I can draw the gang doing some scenes

might have gone a bit insane over the festive season and fallen head first into this western AU. basically everything is the same but instead of Vikings it’s cowboys! I’m gonna colour these all and want to do more art/drawings of this too bc it has been occupying my thoughts lol
more info 👇
- set in a fictional Old West, similar to how the canon treats Viking lore and accuracy, assume this is the same 😂
- in this AU, Hiccup loses his leg before he meets Toothless in some sort of stampede/horse-related accident, which makes Stoic, the cheif of the town, more protective of him/not want him to go near them
- Hiccup finds Toothless as a wild mustang, trapped in a gorge. Hijinx ensue, Hiccup saves him, and they bond.
-Hiccup and Fishlegs live in the same town. Astrid, Lout, Ruff and Tuff are part of a group of travelling cowboys from out of town or somethin lol. Something happens and Legs and Hic have to travel with them for a bit. Haven’t worked everything out yet but if people have ideas feel free to let me know!
- Ruff and Tuff are in charge of the supplies wagon and they often confuse Barf & Belch with their arguing. The poor horses go in different directions or one of them might stop while the other keeps going 😭
- Meatlug is usually seen pulling a little wagon with extra supplies/Fishlegs rides in the wagon sometimes when they go on adventures so she ends up being the slowest in the group, similar to how she is the slowest of the gang’s dragons
- Hookfang is an Arabian horse and he has a really firey temper and has a similar relationship to Snotlout as in the canon. Snotlout made Hookfang rear up on his hind legs once, but Snotlout fell off and Hookfang left him in the dust 💀
- Astrid is the leader of the cowboys. Stormfly has little braids in her mane as that’s Astrid’s way of showing affection.
(alsomyaskboxisopenifanyonewantstodiscusthisauI AM HAPPY TO YAP-)

"Two angry parents..."
Soooo, this has been sitting in my WIP folder for ages. Here's a little sketch of Encanzo and Queen Sychorax from Cressida Cowell's the wizards of once series. Did this on one of my hour-long train rides to uni, back when I was listening to the audiobooks. I hadn't seen any of the illustrations at that point and was going completely off of the books' description (which really doesn't give you all that much to work with), so forgive me if it's a little off haha.

Help raising you beneath the clang of his forge alongside his own godson, Hiccup, a boy destined to defy the world. Hiccup and you stand through many hardships as childhood friends, and awkward occasions as two misfits against the world—a fierce baker of breads and a dreamer craving Viking glory. Pairing: Hiccup x fem!reader Genre: romance, fantasy, suspense, drama, angst, dark, vioIence, friends to lovers, dark themes, heavy Viking lore, Norse mythology, canon divergence Word count: 1.2k Warnings: This will have the lore of the films (and shows with side stories) but with much darker themes. Any other warnings will be properly tagged upon story progression. A/N: Reader descriptions are not described besides the clothing, true to Viking/httyd fashion from time to time. Divider by @saradika-graphics & gifs/edits, dividers + template credit to #uservampyr my co-writer + beta reader ♡

The storm that battered Berk that night when you were born was a beast unlike any the village had faced in years, a tempest so fierce it seemed to claw its way up from the depths of legend itself, as if Thor, in a fit of divine wrath, had hurled his hammer into the sky and shattered it into a thousand jagged shards of wind and rain.
The sea, a roiling black maw, roared with a fury that sent waves crashing over the rocky cliffs, splintering the sturdy timber of homes perched too close to the edge; boards groaned and snapped, tumbling into the churning abyss below where a maelstrom swirled angrily, swallowed by depths so dark they might have been the gates to Hel itself.
Stoick’s voice, a thunderclap of its own, had bellowed across the chaos, ordering every soul to retreat inland as the village crumbled under the onslaught—storms were usually a mere itch to the Vikings of Berk, a flea bite compared to the dragons that scorched their skies or the snows that buried their paths, but this was no ordinary squall; whispers of Ragnarök slithered through the crowd, their faces pale as they wondered what sin had roused the gods to such vengeance.
The people stumbled toward the Great Hall, their sanctuary of stone and firelight, boots slipping on rain-slick paths as the wind howled like a pack of starved wolves; brave souls darted back into the fray—men and women with determination and grit in their eyes—hauling the stragglers to safety, their silhouettes flickering against the lightning’s glare, risking all yet losing none, thank the fates, as the last of Berk’s battered flock squeezed inside. Or so they thought.
Stoick, broad as an oak and twice as unyielding, stood at the hall’s heart with Valka at his side, their voices cutting through the din as they counted heads—Until Gobber’s gruff shouts mingling with the clank of his hammer-hand, pointed outward.
“Wait! There’s still some out there!” Gobber bellowed from the shadowed throng near the Great Hall’s towering doors.
Stoick had whipped his head toward him. His bearded jaw tightening as he’d stalked forward, boots pounding the stone like war drums competing against the thunder; shoving the one unclosed door aside, he’d peered into the chaos, his eyes narrowing at the sight of distant figures—mere smudges against the storm’s black veil—struggling inland, their forms buckling under winds that shrieked chaos around them.
As chief, and the unyielding shield of his people, Stoick had steeled himself and plunged into the gale, his voice booming over the tumult with a command for all to stay put, the doors slamming behind him with a groan. He’d fought his way toward the figures, rain lashing his broad frame, until their shapes had sharpened into a young man and woman, her arms clutching a screaming bundle—their newborn child, a fragile spark amid the tempest’s rage—her face a mask of terror as the wind tore at her cloak, her husband’s hands steadying her against the onslaught.
Stoick had pressed forward, each step a battle against the storm’s might, when the earth beneath them had shuddered and split, a crack racing through the ground like a serpent’s strike; a landslide had erupted, morphing swiftly into a sinkhole that gaped wide where they’d stood, as if the island itself had conspired to claim them.
With a warrior’s reflex, Stoick had seized a frayed rope lashed to one of Berk’s ancient pillars—its weathered carvings whispering of forgotten ages—and shouted for them to run, his arm outstretched, a lifeline in the dark; they’d been mere inches from his grasp, the woman shielding her babe tight against her chest, her husband gripping them both in a desperate embrace, when the cliff had given way, the ground collapsing beneath their feet, their screams swallowed by the wind’s merciless howl.
In a heartbeat, the man had thrust the bundle into Stoick’s hands, his eyes locking with the chief’s in a fleeting, wordless plea—then he and his wife had tumbled with the shattered earth, vanishing into the churning abyss below, claimed by the storm’s insatiable hunger as Stoick failed to grab onto them.
Stoick had clung to the rope with a warrior’s tenacity, the infant’s wails slicing through the night like a blade forged in grief, a tiny life wrested from the jaws of a love it would never know; as the winds had raged on, howling like the spirits of the lost, he’d squeezed his eyes shut, a curse slipping beneath his breath as a sharp pang gripped his chest—not just from the strain, but from the weight of those he couldn’t save.
Tucking the wee babe close, her soaked form trembling against his broad frame, he’d gripped the rope tighter, waiting for the storm to shift; the moment the gale faltered, veering inland, he’d seized his chance and bolted toward the Great Hall, his boots pounding the earth as rain lashed his face, the child’s cries urging him on like a battle hymn.
Inside, the hall had held its breath, a sea of faces pressed to the cracks in the doors, their eyes straining against the dark until Stoick’s towering silhouette had emerged from the tempest’s shroud; Valka, his wife, clutching their fragile son Hiccup to her chest, had gasped in relief, her voice mingling with Gobber’s gruff shout as he’d flung the doors wide, his peg leg thudding against the stone.
All eyes had fallen on Stoick then, and on the small bundle cradled beneath his arm—soaked, shivering, impossibly small—its wails softening to whimpers as the warmth of the hall crept in; Gobber’s weathered face had twisted with worry, his eyes asking a question his tongue couldn’t bear to voice, but Stoick’s sad frown and the slight shake of his head had answered it—the parents were gone, claimed by the storm’s cruel embrace.
A hush had fallen over the hall, heads bowing in silent mourning, the crackle of the hearth the only sound until the men behind had heaved the doors shut, their locks clanking like a final decree; Stoick had crossed the floor to Valka, her tear-streaked gaze flitting from the babe in his arms to Hiccup, nestled against her, only imagining Hiccup in that situation, which brought tears to her eyes.
“She’ll catch her death if we don’t get her fresh clothes and warmth soon,” Stoick had declared, his voice steady despite the tremor in his soul, and Gobber had stepped forward, his calloused hands gentle as he’d taken the babe from his friend’s arms, cradling her with a tenderness that belied his rough exterior.
The hall, once still, had erupted into motion—Vikings bustling to stoke fires, fetch blankets, and brace for the storm’s duration—as the tempest that had descended upon Berk that night, a titan of nature’s wrath, etched its fury into the village’s history with claws of wind and teeth of rain, the sea roaring with a rage that mirrored the fire it stole; it had claimed lives, shattered homes, yet it hadn’t broken the spirit of Berk’s people, nor the fierce spark of the little bundle Stoick had saved—a girl who would grow to be as fierce and unyielding as the storm she was birthed into.

oooo what got u interested in hookfang and snotlout as a ship. im interested to know :0 (if u still ship them haha)
I VERY MUCH DO >:3
Okay so when I was a baby fandom lad and just getting into HTTYD I remember shipping all the riders with their dragons, but back then the fics for that was like. 99% toothcup, 1% toothcup feat. other ships. So I could NOT for the life of me find any other dragon/rider ship fics solely for, say, Fishlegs/Meatlug, and then by extension I just didn't have any fuel for my shipping
Nowadays I'm more competent in making my own fuel. But for shipping any dragon and rider in HTTYD that is not Toothcup you have to watch the series to understand, since the pairings that aren't them don't get a lot of attention in the movies proper (henceforth all of this will be under the cut for how long it is):
First off, I will be talking about canon shippable moments. In the first season, there's an episode where Hookfang has a toothache (it's the one where the forge changes into a dentist, because Gobber doesn't have any reason to make weapons anymore) (sorry I forget episode names). There's a part near the end where big, macho man Snotlout breaks down in TEARS pleading for Hiccup to stop Gobber, outright sobbing the words, "He's gonna kill my dragon!" I remember just rewatching that episode over and over to the point of pissing off my mom and her telling me to watch something else, because it was the BIGGEST piece of non-Toothcup food I'd gotten fed up to that point.
The second season had an episode of Snotlout working Hookfang to the bone, to where Hookfang's flame went out and he got deathly ill. Snotlout CRIED, genuinely cried AGAIN over this (and this time it got called out by Astrid) and when he thought the Fireworm Queen had killed him, he just looked fucking BROKEN, and he even said "You're more than just another sword" (which I think is/was a line in our very small hooklout shipping community used to emphasize their relationship - they see each other not just as weapons to an end, they're more to each other than their strength even if that's what originally drew them to each other as dragon and rider).
Next up - this episode is Netflix-only which is heartbreaking for all you who don't have it. But there's an episode in either the first or second season of Race to the Edge (can't remember) where not only does Snotlout think Hookfang is leaving him (and the twins play it as a fucking love triangle tragedy the whole time) but he straight-up tells Hiccup that if he can't ride Hookfang, he doesn't want to ride a dragon at all.
I reference all of these to say that there's just something special to me about two people (or one person and one dragon) who are normally cold, standoffish and outright cruel to other people, but become absolutely soft and vulnerable when it comes to each other. There's a difference there to me between that and how Hiccup is nice to everyone, but is just a special nice to Toothless. (I am still a very hard Toothcup shipper, don't get me wrong, but Hooklout at this point has firmly overtaken them as my OTP for HTTYD)
All of that said, because we unfortunately cannot see into Hookfang's mind beyond the obvious (he is a dragon and cannot talk - which is ofc a roadblock in one of my fics, but still) one of my favorite things to do is imagine the canon show but with my Shifter-verse, so here are some headcanons for anyone who wants them featuring Shifter!Hookfang and Snotlout:
Hookfang uses Monstrous Nightmare courtship, which involves either submitting himself to someone stronger or making himself seem tougher/stronger. All the times he hurts Snotlout are his unfortunate attempts at flirting. (Related: He also regularly, casually says, "If this goes wrong, I want Snotlout to kill me" and he also thinks that's flirting, too)
In my Shifter AU the episode with the Fireworm Queen turns out differently - he gets to that point because he thinks he's not enough for Snotlout. Maybe a snide comment from Spitelout got him there, or maybe something happened in a battle. Whatever it is, he does it himself - and then, later, when he's better, when Snotlout is all bawling and asking what the hell he was doing, Hookfang says, "I wanted to be good enough to be your dragon." and that would be big since in my Shifter-verse I think that wouldn't be something the dragons would say lightly
Related to number 1, whenever Snotlout does something really impressive strength or intelligence-wise, Hookfang just becomes this gooey, flirty, flustered mess. It's adorable to watch, but very confusing for poor Snotlout
The episode in Race to the Edge where Snotlout has to do all those trials to be Mala's king? Hookfang insists Snotlout do it because he will NOT stand for anyone implying his mate couldn't survive something (and Snotlout plans to turn Mala down afterward anyway)
Incidentally, Hookfang acts like Toothless is the most annoying dragon ever when he talks about Hiccup... But if you let him Hookfang could give rants twice as long and just as sappy, if not sappier
Somehow, despite that, Snotlout WOULD NOT GET IT. He teases the hell out of Hiccup and Toothless, but prior to Hookfang actually using real words to say to Snotlout that he's in love with him, Snotlout would have 0% understanding that Hookfang is into him (that's also a trope I love, btw: two people very-obviously smitten with each other but one of them has absolutely no idea)
Hookfang just casually leaning on/draping himself over Snotlout in his human form, a quiet way of saying to everyone around him "This is mine" (and when they get together Snotlout starts casually sitting in Hookfang's lap)
Related to the above: Remember when I said Hookfang would casually say "If this goes wrong, I want Snotlout to kill me"? After they get together, Snotlout starts returning that phrase with, "Not if you kill me first". All the dragons think it's cute but the humans are just like "....what-"
They're also the most fucking dramatic when they get together. Hookfang sweeps Snotlout into his arms, DIPS him and then presses a big kiss to his lips. Right in front of everyone else. (Compared to Hiccup and Toothless who went out to the cove to confess to each other, and Fishlegs and Meatlug who quietly got together without even noticing)
Basically, what got me into them is imagining these idiotic, self-confident, sappy, oblivious, simpy morons looking at each other and saying "That one" and then somehow taking years to realize their feelings are requited despite them each being the only one the other will truly be vulnerable for
now I leave you with this screencap from the end of the Fireworm Queen episode

As someone who loves both httyd and wakfu I am BEGGING you to talk more about this
Well it wasn't much more than a passing thought I wrote down before i forgot it and I was gonna apologize and say I've not thought of much but character classes, but I blacked out and went into a frenzy.
So for character classes:
Hiccup: Eliatrope and Toothless is his dragon brother
Astrid: Feca or Cra (though I could maybe see her being a Iop too?)
Snotlout: Iop
Twins: Iops as well (I'd say most of Berk's population is)
I'm kind of stuck on what Fishlegs would be. huppermage? Maybe? Idk
Dagur: Sacrier
Heather: Sram
Undecided on what I'd want Viggo to be, or if I'm even going to include him but I'm open to any suggestions.
And for a Rotbtd version (bc I contracted that disease recently):
Merida: Cra
Jack: Rogue
Rapunzel: Eniripsa
But I don't have much more than that for this version rn.
And then I have some story ideas for it but I'll put them under the cut because it's kind of a lot
Berk is a a small coastline port village known for its fishing and inhabitants with ridiculous names and violent tendencies (most of them are Iops).
(Debating on its actual location but I can't for the life of me find a map for the World of Twelve that's actually labeled 💀)
Stoick is a Iop and chief of the village. He found Hiccup when he was an infant. He's never actually sat Hiccup down and given him the "you're adopted" talk, but they're both aware of it. This doesn't really have any strain on their relationship though (they love each other, but like in canon, are shit at actually showing it) the fights they have are over other things, mostly Hiccup's hazardous passion projects. And later, Hiccup's desire to leave Berk.
Hiccup is the village blacksmith's apprentice, but is often distracted with his own projects.
He is more focused on making inventions powered by wakfu than honing his own abilities beyond portal making (because of this, they often explode). as well as seemingly having a lack of interest in finding out about himself and what he is. Beyond the fact that deep down, he knows he is not human. He still wants to get out of Berk and dreams of exploring the World of Twelve.
Hiccup lost his left leg below the knee in an accident he indirectly caused when he was 14. Part of why he doesn't like using his powers.
(If you've watched the show, you'll know that when Yugo makes two portals and puts them in front of each other, it creates a beam of energy that essentially decimates whatever it comes into contact with. And iirc it's mostly been used on machines and such, so I don't think organic matter like bone muscle and flesh would stand a chance.)
Fishlegs is the closest thing he has to a friend. they'll eagerly talk about his inventions, until Fishlegs asks Hiccup to go more in depth on how his powers work, then Hiccup shuts him out. Usally after a few days of silent treatment things go back to normal and they act like it never happened.
Snotlout is Hiccup's cousin who used to bully him but has stopped (doing it outright anyway, ofc he's still rude and we love him for it <3) due to a begruding respect for Hiccup, not that he'll ever admit it (and perhaps out of fear, after all blowing your leg off and accidentally destroying half the village, intentional or not, is an impressive feat). The twins follow Hiccup around in hopes to see what disaster he'll cause next. They're the reason Hiccup moved his 'Workshop' out of the smithy and into a remote clearing in the forest miles away from the village proper.
Toothless is Hiccup's dragon brother and has been searching for Hiccup for years, but Hiccup is so out of tune with his wakfu their connection was almost completely severed and Toothless is unable locate him. Until recently Hiccup had no idea Toothless existed, beyond a lifelong feeling of something being very distinctly wrong and the occasional vague prodding sensation in the back of his head (Toothless trying his absolute hardest to get through to him).
I have no idea what I want to do for Astrid tbh. I want to do her justice which is why I'm so indecisive.
And I have nothing for Heather and Dagur beyond what their classes would be honestly. Something will come to me eventually though.
If anyone has any questions (especially abt wakfu if you're only familiar with httyd) feel free to shoot me an ask and I'd love to elaborate!
(Also a lot of this is subject to change if I have any better ideas)

Hihihihi!!
I've commented on a few of your videos, both normal and httyd, but because of my fear of being perceived, I've usually kept them pretty mild.
So I thought I would come on here and politely scream at you about how much I love your art,
EBWKHEEKKWKEBEK everytime you update/post whatever I immediately feel better no matter what because your art is always so pretty and fills me with such joy! Your current httyd×hc series is SOO much fun, and something I've always kinda thought about, but never thought I would see, let alone done so beautifully! Your ability to composs a scene with so much emotion, and story in just a single DRAWING. Is. Completely. INSANE. And that's not even mentioning your ANIMATICS. Because, HOLYSHIT. Your "The Moon Will Sing" PMV is a NATIONAL TREASURE. That is. Just. Omg. AURGH it's so good I can't even TALK ABOUT IT because just THINKING about it makes me go INSANE!!! INSANEEE!! RAHHHH!
Anyway, just thought that since I can say basically whatever I want anonymously without the fear of people actually seeing me, why not come and give one of my favorite artists some WELL DESERVED praise. Your cherrifire art? Beautiful. The designs. Ommf, delicious. Your hermitcraft/life series art? Can't even explain how good it is. Ddvau fanart? Love it so much. Your httyd crossover art? EEEEEEEEEEEEHEHEHE IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY. I LOVE IT ALL SO MUCH. EVERYTHING. AMAZING. BEAUTIFUL. ARGGGGGHHHHH.
...welp, I got a little carried away lol. I hope you don't mind this long "ask" (and that it's actually coherent)! Hope you get lots of nice sleep tonight, and remember to eat and drink as well! (Also.. maybe. Maybee? Could we perhaps get a hint as to who the next hermit will be? Mayhaps? No pressure ofc) <3
AWW THANK YOU SO MUCH ANON!! This probably takes the cake for one of the sweetest messages i've ever received omg thank you so much 😭💙 I am so so happy that you're enjoying my content! I am having such a blast coming up with ideas and drawing silly block people and dragons for you guys 🥹 everyone's support has been so overwhelmingly positive and i'm so thankful for you guys even giving me the opportunity to share my art with a large audience. you guys are awesome <3 i'm also so so glad you love my art style! i've had so many comments and compliments about it, and it has given me the confidence and motivation to keep doing what i'm doing, as i have been pretty insecure about my art style in the past which prevented me from posting my art for years haha. thank you guys for helping me to feel comfortable with my abilities and give me the motivation to keep improving from here! I'm so excited to make more! anyway i should probably stop yapping, cause i may or may not have an angry goat and his dragon to draw 👀 but thank you again anon for the very very sweet message and support 🫶 i wish all the same to you :)

4,14,24,37,39 and 40 for Piper and Leo!
@scarareg Thank you so much for your ask!
leo x piper is kinda my self-indulgent secret ship heh, it's nice to talk about it sometimes hgjfkl;
4. Their favorite show to watch together?
I think they would love watching stupid movies (romcoms or unnecessarily sentimental and cheesy) together not bc they like them but so that they could make fun of the lines/scenes together like best friends do (bc ofc they are best friends first, lovers later). leo mimicking them in his stupid way, and piper giggling and rofling about like a buffalo the way she can't before others. they are the kinda couple who would enjoy everything they watch together.
but their ultimate fav, repeat to 10000x movie list till they have memorized every line is HTTYD, cuz yeah, leo-hiccup, toothless-festus, and ig piper is a lot like astrid? AND DRAgons!!! so yeah their go-to, top-of-head movie when they are lazy to try something new
(the only thing they never watch is tristan mclean movies lmao)
14. Who falls asleep during a movie?
Neither, but on hectic days when they are super tired, both of them catch the sleep bug and fall asleep.
if Leo is first to wake up to find the movie is over, he'd pick up piper and carry her to their bed, taking care she doesn't wake up (watching her sleep is secretly his fav thing, yk cuz of piper's cute way of sleeping: "inhaling through the nose, exhaling with a little puff through the mouth" and "her hair looked like it had become a nest for a friendly hamster")
on the other hand, if piper is first to wake, she'd prob simply arrange some pillows for their necks and go back to sleep, snuggling into him bc no chance she is getting cold lol
which brings me to the next choice!
24. Sleeping/cuddling positions? (Big spoon, little spoon, etc.)?
ggfhjk i love this question specifically for this ship cuz Piper is 100% the little spoon!
iirc (forgive me my knowledge of HoO is getting rusty! seriously, it's time for a full reread T_T) both piper and leo are the same height, right? maybe as adults, leo gets a late growth spurt of a couple of inches over her (which is annoying cuz leo is finally taller but secretly she likes it, cuz perfect for a side snuggle)
even otherwise, piper is always, subconsciously snuggling into his side cuz he is so hot warm. even if he hasn't used his fire, there is always some residual warmth in him all the time, which she has got used to searching out for. say, if leo gets up in the middle of the night to drink some water/got a brand new design idea in his head he just has to jot down NOW,,, by the time he returns to bed, piper is completely rolled up in his side of the bed, searching for him in her sleep (he loves this habit of hers! it also probs makes him feel better about his fire too)
iirc, his mom's warehouse caught fire in the middle of winter, right?? ig he'd slowly come to like winters better, bc of piper snuggling more into him during winters agfhjk
and iirc, he likes to sleep with a hug pillow, right? his old hug pillow has been replaced by piper!
39. Do they get along with the other's family? If not, how do they deal with the other's family?
on leo's side, hephaestus will be very suspicious of the daughter of aphrodite (cuz of his own experience with her) but talking to piper, he will be slightly mollified abt her… yet, his advice for Leo always will be to trust his machines more than the human specimen of his girlfriend (ofc leo won't take it seriously)
//toa spoilers/// now josephine and hemithea are his foster mothers i am sure piper would get along with them super well as well <3
on piper's side, leo has already met Tristan in Lost Hero and knows him as piper's friend, so he'd be pretty much chill with what pipes does and who she dates,, he might try to give Leo The Talk as his duty as her father, but Piper would kick her dad out before that ever happens (Leo just being the awkward bean like during the whole helicopter ride in TLH lol)
oth, leo would be mildly (understated) scared of Aphrodite. if they ever meet her (by chance) he'd keep fidgeting and tapping 'i love you' on his jeans till piper clasps his hand and taps back 'it's okay' but i think aphrodite won't be as scary as leo imagines in his head; she'd probs find him amusing and intrigued that her daughter actually prefers leo over jason.
40. Who is the skilled shopper for holidays? Who always waits 'til the last minute to get all of their gifts? (Which one gets stressed out easily)?
piper! she won't--but she would use her charmspeak to bargain for the best prices in those overly expensive, money grabbing malls, something that leo always finds terrifyingly awesome lmao,, piper gets excited for holiday shopping and stuff whereas leo tags along obediently (and use his magic toolbelt to stove away the shopping bags lol)
leo always forgets all of the important days because of his adhd (extreme even by demigod standards) and piper, having known him for long, understands this and never gets mad or anything but he'd always feel guilty about this and makes up for it in a completely random surprise gift he handdesigns for her. Of course, piper loves his stupid (affectionately) and most times, completely non-functional (cuz Leo himself doesn't know what they do loool but they are always weirdly complicated) gifts so much! like say a music box that goes moo! but bake out fresh cookies lmao
#hoo#pjo#leo valdez#piper mclean#leo x piper#liper#asks#may-answers#i feel like a teenager again when i used to soooo wait for book after book for some hints of piper and leo#realizing their feelings for each other or smth ahgjfkl how nostalgic!#leo x piper is always that one ship that would never happen buuuuut what could have beeeeen!! for me hahaha#thank you for all the choices! they were fun to do!#please feel free to send anymore numbers for this or any other ship if you wish! i'd love to do them!! ❤

I've been thinking about this and wanted to ask, what would you think if HTTYD did a prequel story? How would it be covered/what would you like to see covered?
Also, do you have anything on the gang's parents? Snotlouts mom, both of Astrid's parents, etc? How do they get along?
OOO I think a prequel would be really cool!! Personally I'd love for it to go into the movies' version of Hiccup I and Hiccup II since I loved how they were handled in the books, with ofc the possibility of it tying into Hiccup III. For me, the best format would be graphic novel form, maybe half a history book, certainly with those two characters. Keeps things a bit more mysterious.
If we can't have that, I think a prequel about Stoick and Valka would be fun too!! I heard in an interview with Dean Deblois he'd like to explore the concept of Valka's 20 years, idk if I would exactly want that or smt that would play out during the gang's parents' youths. It would be pretty interesting to see how the kids of that time were formed!
And I'd love a little prequel on Stoick and Gobber going to find the treasure of Hamish II. Y'know. For funsies lmao.
Hmmm I think I have a few things yeah!! Me and my friend Rose (spacenintendogs) did talk abt Snotlout's mom a few times and to me her name is Freda (like her counterpart in the books). Whenever I include Astrid's parents in smt I call them Ingrid and Bjorn, I think they're both pretty much some of the fiercest warriors of the tribe and that's partly where Astrid got her fierceness from. The other part she got from Fearless Finn, ofc, who I think is Astrid's dad's younger brother.
For the rest of the Gang's parents,,, not certain tbh!! Haven't given much thought to it yet. I think Fishlegs' mom would be really sweet, maybe a baker? She'd probably make some of the meals they all eat together in the Great Hall and she'd send Fishlegs and his friends food when they're on Dragons' Edge over terror mail. The twins' parents would probably be just as chaotic as their kids lmao. I think their dad is a traveler/trader so they'd spend most time with their mom (seeing as she's mentioned more often). Half of me thinks the twins' parents aren't even married since the Thorstons are said to "not be the marrying type", which would be a pretty fun interpretation!!
I think the parents' generation would get along pretty okay. A little headcanon i have is that Astrid's mom and Fishlegs' mom would be besties, seeing how Astrid and Fishlegs kinda pull together a bit more naturally. Next to that, I think Astrid's parents might hold some annoyance to the Thorstons and that kinda reflected into Astrid herself. I think Snotlout's mom probably keeps to herself more and would keep herself busy with raising her kids (Adelaide you're canon to me) and sewing.
So yeah!!! Not a lot but it's something haha. Ty so much for asking!!! I loved thinking abt this. What do you have on this topic? I'd love to know your headcanons!! :D
#also really random but ive been watching power rangers samurai (bc it was my childhood hyperfixation when i was like 8 or smt) and i think#the gang would fit so perfectly in the power rangers formula lmao#hiccup'd be the red ranger astrid blue and the rest im not certain abt#but that's for another time#yippeeee thank you for the question!!!!#this was sm fun#httyd#how to train your dragon

This AU is taking me SO LONG to complete (I’ve been working on it on and off for almost 2 years now), and so I want to post this as at least SOME note of progression. Dabi and Abiteth next to Abiteth’s druid forms (I know that logically her deer form shouldn’t be THAT big, but I wanted her to be at least as big as a horse).
Rambles under the cut - oh! And feel free to ask me anything about it.
I STILL HAVE SO MUCH WORK LEFT TO DO ON THIS I’M CRYIN ON THE INSIDE MAN. I still need to draw Dabi’s mount, designs for the kids (I have their bases done but I wish I had taken into consideration their height differences //WHEEZE).
Need to color in Abi’s weapons and inventory, need to finish outlining Dabi’s inventory so that I can color HIS weapons/inventory, I need to do some point illustrations (first meeting, first kiss, fighting together), AND THEN I gotta do pages for their SL and DF looks, AND DESIGN THEIR DF DRAGONS, and OFC FINISH THEIR WEDDING LOOKS (I already have those sketched. Maybe do a wedding illustraion).
I’M. I’M DYIN JIM. But I did this to myself.
AT THE VERY LEAST I have all their written info DONE (I modified their backgrounds and Dabi’s specialization blurbs). IT’S SO MUCH WORK YOU GUYS. AND TWITTER VOTED FOR HTTYD AU NEXT, AND YES IT’LL BE AS DETAILED AS THIS SO. LIKE. DAMN.
Yes Dabi is a priest in this AU, I do, in fact, make the rules.

Your and Hiccup's wedding day HC's
PAIRING: Hiccup 'Horrendous' Haddock III x fem!reader
WARNING: bad grammar
CONTAINS: fluffy fluff
SONG: Home - Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
A/N: This hc's does not follow the plot of the movie. Because this wedding is in httyd 2, probably. I have three different rings I think would be perfect for this so I put them here.
! Y/D/N means 'your dragons name'!
pictures are not mine

When Hiccup realized he wants to marry you
-Hiccup realized it at his father's funeral. He realized how easily he can lost you and he can't let that happen. He had his whole family just for few hours after all.
-At first he didn't have a mother, then he lost his father, what if you were next? What if you are the next person he's gonna lose? No, freaking big NO! How dare he thought about it. You are strong and powerful and Hiccup knows it very well.
Where and how he propose to you
-Hiccup would made (with Toothless and Valka's help) a little night picnic. You and Hiccup had a favourite place right next to a big waterfall. It was an hour away from Berk.
-Valka put lights on trees to light up the place a little bit, Hiccup was trying to spread a blanket on the ground and Toothless was searching for a smaller strain that could be use as a table.
-When they had it done, Hiccup suggested they should go back on Berk so he can make some food and Valka could distract you.
-Around 8 p.m. Hiccup came to you under pretext of a night ride. You both loves night rides on dragons so you immediately agreed. But Hiccup told you that you should fly on your common favourite place because he had a surprise there.
-Already from a distance you could see little lights and when you fly little closer you saw a blanket with a smaller bitten trunk (bitten from Toothless) which was supposed to be like a small table, and it was so cute.
-When you landed there, Hiccup took down the food he made from Toothless and put it on the table. Hiccup waved on Toothless and Y/D/N in sign to give you some privacy. So they go somewhere in the woods but it wasn't to far if anything bad happen.
-You two had a wonderful night, and to be truth Hiccup cooks very well. When you eat the food, Hiccups put his arms around your waist and pull you into his lap. He was very nervous so cuddling give him a bit more time.
-But when he looked down at you, he saw you so peacefully looking at stars which were mirrored in your eyes, he knew this was the right time.
-He pull out a small handmade wooden box, and told you to stand up while he was on his knee. When you turned to see Hiccup, you gasp. Now was Hiccup more than nervous but he took a deep breath and said: 'Y/N you are the most beautiful and the most strongest woman I've ever met. Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?' (I know it's very cheesy)
-And you said yes!
here are some pictures for better imagine of the place where Hiccup propose you:

Wedding preparations
-You both agreed on having a wedding at winter. You both love winter and your dragons even more so why not. And there isn't much summer days on Berk.
-Hiccup was very handy so he made the ring he gave you (and he made his own ring to ofc). Valka helped him with little details which are on these rings because she is a woman and she has the eye on it (I hope you know what I mean).
-Snotlout, Astrid, Ruffnut, Tuffnut and Fishlegs helped with the decoration and overall preparation. But it was such a chaos because Ruffnut and Tuffnut could not agree on the smallest things.
-Dragons also were trying to help. Hiccup was with Toothless practising his speech. And you were with Valka and Y/D/N. You and Valka spend most of the day together. Valka helped you with your dress, your flower crown and with your nervousness.
What would the wedding look like
-Overall the wedding was pretty simple, but cute.

Wedding and wedding promises
-Hiccup was very nervous. He knew he's doing the right thing but it's natural to feel nervous at his own wedding. And you felt the same.
-But when Hiccup saw you coming to him all his nervousness disappeared. He saw you in beautiful white dress which glistened a little in the sun, with the bearskin you had draped over your back and with a such a beautiful flower crown.
-He was in awe. He was like a little boy on Christmas. Two tears fell on his face but he quickly wiped them away.
-Right now you stood in front of him with the biggest smile. He was so happy that I can't even describe how much. When he was putting a ring on your finger his hands were shaking. And Gothi put the wedding cloth over your hands and allowed you to kiss each other, it was the most passionate kiss you can imagine.
-They were so much emotions and unspoken words in that kiss, but every one of them were happy.
-Gobber was the one who cried most because he spend a lots of time with Hiccup and his father was Gobber's best friend so it's kinda obvious. Valka cried too ofc but moch less that Gobber.
-And the day end up in your and Hiccup's common house were you and Hiccup had such a passionate night.
rings:

My Future Fanfic Projects
Thanks @valiantwarrior37 for the tag!
These are my list of WIP projects that I’m doing in the next couple of years:
.
.
(UA stands for “Universe Alternation”, which, unlike AU, is basically changes made to the canonverse or characters, but it’s still the same universe.)
.
.
Also, keep in mind that despite the placement, these works won’t exactly be in chronological order. I’ll be doing this more on an “as-inspiration-hits-me” basis.
.
.
Return of Mildew’s Son (a HTTYD short-story)
Months after Mildew’s disappearance (and treason), his land needs to be worked and lived in. Eventually, a man comes to Berk with his family, claiming to be Mildew’s son, and claims his inheritance. Of course, chaos and hilarity ensue. He is, after all, Mildew’s son. Will Berk come to accept this new resident, or will they wish to give him the boot?
Macey Comes to Life (a Tuffnut/OC short story)
Folklore/Fantasy AU
Inspired from the classic tales where a man wishes that something of his creation was real, and it comes to life as a woman that he then marries.
Tuffnut gets lonely and jealous when the rest of the Gang each get married and have families of his own, while he gets left behind, still a single bachelor, and no family has come to his to offer their daughter’s hand in marriage to him. Sad, he snuggles with Macey and wishes that it was real so that he could have somebody. Next day, he wakes up to find Macey, alive, as a woman, and is overjoyed. Will this be a dream come true? Or will Tuffnut get more than he bargained for?
Bury the Axe (a Snotlout/OC story)
(Snotlout / OFC) An UA story where a Jorgenson MARRIES a Hofferson. But it’s not Astrid whom Snotlout marries, but rather her older sister, in order to end the feud between the Jorgenson and Hofferson clans. Will he survive this union and find love at last? Or will he become eel bait?
This will be set in HTTYD 2 and a little into THW.
Also this story will be loosely canon, as I’ll be fixing up HTTYD 2 and HTTYD 3 and changing the plots to where they’re compatible and make sense. Hiccstrid marries much sooner, Stoick is alive, Hiccup isn’t an idiot, Drago and Grimmel don’t exist and are replaced with the Warlords, instead. And the Berkians will remain on Berk, New Berk will be greatly altered, and instead of colonizing, the focus will be more on exploration of the Western Archipelago, and perhaps even as far as the British Isles and Iceland. 😉
Based on this conversation in the final scene in RTTE episode “Snotlout Gets the Axe”.
Snotlout’s Saga (Snotlout Leaves Berk UA)
Snotlout loses the Thawfest Games, and has to deal with the aftermath. When things get out-of-hand, Snotlout and Hookfang are forced to leave Berk and become Outcasts. This saga will focus on their journey, their struggles, their successes, their losses, their sacrifices, and their growth.
This story will be set during/after the RoB episode “Thawfest” onwards and ends after RTTE but before HTTYD 2. And because Snotlout leaves so early, much of the plot shall be changed. I have, in fact, been watching the show VERY closely and have been taking notes at what exactly gets changed and how to write accordingly. Surprisingly, Snotlout actually affects much of the plot. Some episodes will be gone, others will be greatly altered, and others not much will change.
I might also do a companion story for this that gets into the Gang’s POV during Snotlout’s exile, just so that you guys can see the changes caused by Snotlout’s absence. I don’t plan on doing this for the other Gang members. Only for Snotlout. Because he’s fun. lol XD
This story will be part of my X-Leaves-Berk Series, which will be loosely connected but not much. It’ll mostly be a series where each of the Gang members will be leaving Berk for one reason or another and at different times. Simply because I’ve never seen any fanfics where the rest of the Gang leave Berk besides Hiccup (and sometimes Astrid who goes with Hiccup). So I’m deciding to fix that. I’m actually quite excited about this series! ^_^
Aside from the Gang, I plan on doing stories for Stoick, Spitelout, Alvin, and Valka for this series. (Valka’s saga will be original and won’t follow the “canon” backstory given to her in HTTYD 2.) Heck, I might even do some Sagas for GUSTAV and MILDEW, of all Vikings. lol XD
Gobber, Dagur, Heather, and other characters might also have Sagas of their own but won’t be part of this Series (since they don’t leave Berk). Or maybe I will... who knows?
Family Bonds || PRE-HTTYD 1/HTTYD 1 Retelling (the Berkian Sagas)
A fix-it fic starting from Pre-HTTYD, with Hiccup as a baby. Essentially fixing the mess-ups of the plot of this film, beginning with Valka and having her not get taken away (which will eventually result in Hiccup having more siblings later down the line), Hiccup having a group of friends (OCs), a stronger Hiccup who knows how to fight but still isn’t good with dragon killing, a better graduation of Astrid and Hiccup’s relationship and better explain how she eventually ends up with Hiccup, getting rid of the “Romantic Flight” and the kisses (or maybe keep the one at the very end). Also, Hiccup’s oppression and ostracization will be more obvious and heavier than the film since it was a “kid’s movie”, though with his group of friends to protect him, it won’t be as dark as you’re fearing.
The biggest changes to this plot will be those but also focusing on Hiccup’s childhood and the others as well. Another one is that Hiccup will be having an adopted brother whom he’s close with (I really wanted to implement the historical adoption and foster system of the Vikings into this franchise, since that was a huge part of Viking culture — and an important one at that — and because I got tired of the whole twin sibling thing that people keep giving Hiccup, and nobody had ever come up with a story where Hiccup gets an adopted sibling). We’ll also be using characters, locations, Tribes, and plot-points from the HTTYD Books as well.
This will literally be a fix-it series that will change and fix anything in the various plots in the franchise that was badly written. I’ll also be adding OCs to help balance the cast and also to make the families more larger and emphasize on their interactions with their families (I was a little miffed that we didn’t really get to see everyone else’s families, aside from Snotlout’s and Hiccup’s fathers and the occasional extended relative on the Twins’ side, and various mentions of family, there wasn’t really a whole lot of family interaction); there.will also be OCs to help increase the Dragon Riders, aaaand also to become Hunter fodder so that Berk and the Riders will actually have suffered losses and make this an actual conflict. (Also because Hiccup trained with a lot of kids in the Books, so Hiccup being with only 5 other kids his age is way too small for my tastes.) Many of these will be essential to the plot of the overall franchise, but won’t hopefully change the plot TOO much — just enough to make it interesting and unique.
There will also be politics involved and new adversaries to defeat, as well as dwarfing the plot armor and making sure that the Gang actually USE armor and weapons and shields when they go to battle. I’ll also be fixing the Defenders of the Wing and the Wingmaidens and making them more Viking-like. I’ll also be implementing various headcanons into the stories to give various characters more background depth to help explain various circumstances in the canon. As well as several other changes.
Obviously, this will be a rather ambitious project — one that will definitely take me a good chunk of my life in doing (since I’m writing for several other Fandoms besides HTTYD). So I’m definitely don’t plan on posting these until I get the outlines or even the entire fics written. Though there WILL be a scattering of short stories and one-shots that I plan on adding into these series for various characters and what-not. Such as “The Return of Mildew’s Son” and “Rig’s Impossible Quest”, etc, etc.
Unforbidden Friendship (A One-Shot Collection)
A collection of one-shots that, obviously, will be focusing on friendships. There’s really no limit, people. The platonic pairing can be anything or anyone — human, animal, or inanimate object — and be up to 3 people (because anything more than that’s a crowd).
Anyway, if you have any platonic pairings that you’d like to see, send me an ask and I’ll add it to my list. It can literally be anybody or anything. Create your own combo that nobody has even thought of that you’d like to see if you have to. Have fun with it!
Enemy of My Enemy (A One-Shot Collection)
A collection of one-shots that, obviously, will be focusing on antagonistic pairings — essentially two or more people who are either antagonistic or hostile (aka villainous, evil, or enemies) towards each other, with absolutely no romantic or platonic notions for each other. There’s really no limit, people. The antagonistic pairing can be anything or anyone — human, animal, or inanimate object — and be up to 3 people (because anything more than that’s a crowd).
Anyway, if you have any antagonistic pairings that you’d like to see, send me an ask and I’ll add it to my list. It can literally be anybody or anything. Create your own combo that nobody has even thought of that you’d like to see if you have to. Have fun with it!
The Whumpfest Games (A One-Shot Collection)
A collection of one-shots that, obviously, will be focusing on whumping characters. There’s really no limit, people. The whumpee(s) and whumper(s) can be anything or anyone — human, animal, or inanimate object — and there’s really no limit to the number of characters either (because anything more than that’s a crowd). That being said, 2 people would be preferable. This may include heroes, neutrals, antagonists, and villains. And animals and inanimate objects, even. (It would be interesting to see Tuffnut emotional whump for the loss of Macey, and also Macey’s “thoughts” as its being... well... whumped.)
Anyway, if you have anyone whom you would like to see whumped, send me an ask and I’ll add it to my list. It can literally be anybody or anything. Create your own combo that nobody has even thought of that you’d like to see if you have to. Have fun with it!
Hiccup the Weaponsmith (A Hiccstrid Story)
(Saga AU) A story where Hiccup and his brothers Snotlout, Throk, and Fishlegs are out hunting and run into a group of Valkryies bathing. As they watch, they see some ne’er-do-wells trying to take advantage of them and corner them, so they decide to come to their rescue. Afterwards, the Valkryies introduce themselves as Astrid, Heather, Minden, and Ruffnut. They then offer themselves to the men, each of them choosing the man they wish to marry. But they warn that they’ll be off to join in Odin’s wars after a long hiatus. So for several years they end up happy living together and even starting to have children of their own. But eventually they disappear as promised. Saddened, Throk and Fishlegs abandon their homes as they go on a journey to find their wives again, leaving Hiccup and Snotlout, and their children, to remain, having faith that their (Hiccup’s and Snotlout’s) wives will return one day, and thus continue life as usual.
However, Mala (or Griselda), Queen of the region where they live, hears of them and how Hiccup is a legendary weaponsmith and warrior, along with Snotlout, and with a prophecy which foretells of this, and also wanting to increase her martial abilities, Mala/Griselda sends soldiers to take them and tries to pressure Hiccup to marry her.
Will Hiccup and Snotlout be able to get out and escape? Will their wives ever return?
Melotraumatic/Saving Snotlout (Snotlout whump story)
Originally created for the Whumptober event, this story will be essentially me whumping Snotlout. Set after RTTE, Savage abducts Snotlout in an act of revenge and, with the help of his witch, Norna (unofficial name), they inflict torture on Snotlout for information, and use an unknown dragon species to instigate it. During this, Snotlout meets two other prisoners who are Savage and Norna’s slaves — adolescents from Meathead Island who had been captured during a raid. Despite being in great pain, Snotlout’s determined to protect them as well, and his fellow Riders, while trying to find some way to escape. Can he hold out long enough for his friends and allies to rescue him?
(May or may not become a part of the Retelling Series.)
A Most Dangerous Game (A Hiccther Arranged Marriage UA story)
(Hiccup / Heather) After the events of “Twinsanity”, when Dagur and his Berserkers leave, a letter arrives to Stoick from Thorvald, Dagur and Heather’s cousin, asking for him and Hiccup to meet him secretly, at night, on Berserk Island... with their dragons. With their secret now out, they go to meet him, where Thorvald tells them of the political situation on Berserk and gives them a proposal to help them take Dagur out, preventing a potential conflict between their two Tribes, and helping Berk with their conflict with the Outcasts. He then offers a pact between them. He also reveals to them a secret he’s been keeping for many years: Heather.
However, Thorvald also offers an ultimatum: either Hiccup marries Heather to seal the deal between them, and to ensure a lasting peace between their two Tribes (as well as to protect Heather), or Thorvald will expose their little secret to Dagur and use it to his own advantage in his struggle with Dagur for the throne, bringing Berk into a costly war they don’t need.
Will Hiccup step up and do what’s needed for Berk, or will he plunge his Tribe into a costly war?
Snotlout’s Bride (part of the Bride/Groom Series)
(Snotlout / OFC) It’s the time in every Viking’s life when he or she settles down and gets married — and Snotlout is no different. When his clan go to the Althing in search for a bride, Snotlout explores the various tents in search for the ideal wife. He eventually catches sight of a young woman who’s struggling with sewing a shirt — and her relatives aren’t encouraging at all. Snotlout, seeing himself in her, decides to help her discreetly with her task, much to her surprise.
While he takes his leave and tries to move on, his mind keeps wondering to the girl with the downtrodden face who doesn’t seem to be very competent as a housewife (he knows she’s not a shield-maiden because she wore no armor not had any weapons around like many shield-maidens are wont to do). Before he knows it, he finds himself going back to his family’s tent and talks it over with his father. Spitelout, of course, isn’t too pleased, expecting Snotlout to do as he had asked and find a strong, competent wife from a great family to help strengthen the clan’s prestige. Needless to say, they eventually get into a disagreement, resulting in Spitelout refusing to use any of his money to buy the girl’s hand, and asserts that Snotlout, if he’s so persistent to have her, can go buy her himself.
Not being allowed to bring his dragon, nor having much in the ways of wealth aside from what he took with him, Snotlout decides to go to the girl’s father to make a deal, and at least offer a down payment until he can acquire the rest. But when he sees who the girl’s father truly is, he is shocked.Eventually, after a lot of haggling, he’s able to acquire her hand in marriage, and the wedding date gets set.
Will Snotlout be able to live happily with his new blushing bride for the rest of his life? Or will this turn out to be the greatest mistake he’s ever made? Will this chance bride become the woman he never knew he needed?
Hiccup’s Saga/Wilderwest Saga (Young Chief UA)
A Hiccup-Leaves-Berk story with a ton of inspiration and elements of the Books, this story will be placed before the events of HTTYD 1. When Stoick goes off to search for the Nest, 10/12-year-old Hiccup and his adopted brother Drift get abducted and taken by Danger-Brute warriors to the Dungeons at the behest of the Chief of the Shivering Shores. There, the Chief of the Danger-Brutes imprisons them so that they don’t escape. While in the dungeons, they meet a fellow prisoner, Heather, daughter of Chief Osvald of the Berserkers, who has also been abducted and imprisoned.
Meanwhile, back on Berk, news of the “deaths” of Hiccup and Drift send shockwaves to the villagers. Even worse, a week after their disappearance, Stoick is still nowhere to be seen. Stoick’s brother decides to take over with his son Snotface Haddock (Book Snotlout) as Heir and declares Stoick to be dead. Not wanting to accept it, the Gang decide to go search for Stoick and warn them of what’s happened.
Can Hiccup and his brother escape the Dungeons of the Danger-Brutes, a prison said to be inescapable? Can they survive? And what happened to Stoick? Will the brothers be able to return to Berk and reclaim Hiccup’s birthright? Even more important: Can they do it without ending up with the Slavemark before then?
Zephyr’s Hero (a Zephlout short story)
(Inspired by “Sense & Sensibility”) When 18-year-old Zephyr gets injured and trapped after a fall, Snotlout finds her and rescues her and takes her back to her family. He later comes and keeps her company while she recovers. Zephyr eventually develops feelings for him, and the determination to have him as her husband burns strong within her. Will she claim him as her own, or will her heart get broken? (This is a crack ship fic.)
The Berkian Berserker (Berserker!Hiccup UA)
This story idea was inspired by Berserker!Hiccup fanart by @baisleyarts , and whose gracious permission allowed me to use this idea for my own use.
Wanting to solidify their alliance, Stoick exchanges his son Hiccup to Chief Osvald of the Berserker Tribe to foster in the hopes that Hiccup will become more Viking-like. As the years go by, Hiccup becomes more warrior-like and strong, adopting the Berserker life as his own — albeit a difficult one to deal with due to his mild and kind-hearted personality, as well as looked down on for being Berkian, despite not feeling any loyalty to them in the slightest. Still, he was nowhere near the derangedness of his foster brother.
By the time he’s 15/16, Berk has been slowly weakening from the Dragon attacks and the Outcast and Meathead raids. What’s worse is that Osvald mysteriously vanishes and Dagur claims to have slain him to take the throne for his own in a coup. Alarmed, Hiccup (renamed Hauberk or Brandur) and Thorvald conspire to overthrow him, find Osvald, and reinstate him as Chief once again.
When they go to Berk to sign the treaty, Dagur sees the weakness of Berk and reveals his cards to his relatives, causing Hiccup and Thorvald to secretly send a message to Stoick to warn him.
War is coming. Will Hiccup and Thorvald, with Berk’s aid, thwart Dagur’s schemes and also find Chief Osvald again? Or will Dagur succeed in his ambitions?
The Furian Sagas
This work(s) will focus on the POV of my OC “tribe” and the OCs who come from it — Norrik and Nidhoggr, among others. You’ll see parts of this be in the Retelling Series, including the Rogue Riders that I plan on introducing in the series (because RTTE indiscriminately neglected that particular plot-point in the “Have Dragon, Will Travel” episode about the Rogue Riders! The potential was staggering and was a crime for that plot-point having been wasted!). Essentially, this will get into the history, background, and day-to-day life of the Furians behind-the-scenes that we won’t get to see much of with the rest of my stories. (Or that’s the plan, anyway.)
The main focus will be on Norrik’s father, Norrik IV Nottrikr and his brother, and will be more or less in his perspective. We’ll see his sons from time-to-time, but since they’re usually off with the Gang, we won’t see much of them.
The Accomplice (A Viggo Grimborn-centric Story)
(Canon Divergence AU)
Did Viggo REALLY die in the cave? What if the Skrill wasn’t the only accomplice up Viggo’s sleeve? Created from one of my pet peeves where one of the plot points — in “Wings of War” — was never used at all in the series.
In my headcanon, this Hunter was the other “accomplice” that Viggo had up his sleeve and he comes in the nick of time and rescues Viggo from impending death, smuggling him out of the cave and away to somewhere isolated where Viggo can heal his wounds. When he recovers, Viggo, keeping his word to Hiccup, leaves the Archipelago for his Tribe’s home. While he has a new respect for dragons, he still wishes to continue dragon hunting, and even in the human slave market. He decides to take a page in Krogan’s book and form his own Dragon Flyers.
This story will follow Viggo and his new subordinate as he gathers the remnants of the scattered Dragon Hunters and reorganizes his organization, his ambitions no longer residing in the Archipelago, but in other parts of the world.
Memoirs of a Dragon Flyer (part of the Memoirs Series)
An auto-biographical/fiction story that goes into the perspective of a Dragon Flyer freshly recruited into Krogan’s ranks. It will showcase his thoughts, his experiences, the people he meets, the dragon he rides, the enemies he fights (mostly the Riders, but other foes too), the ideals he inherits, and the various adventures he undergoes as an up-and-coming Flyer. Will he survive long enough to return home? Will he remain a Flyer even after his service is over? Or will he perish — either by the hands of his enemies, the dragons, or by Krogan’s own hand?
Or will he join Viggo in an act of treason against Krogan?
When Love Washed Ashore (a Johann/Atali story)
Based on my headcanon that Minden is Atali’s daughter — and that Johann (who won’t be following the Traitor arc) is her father — this fanfic goes into Atali’s story before she became the Chieftess of the Wingmaidens. When she was young, she lived in a Tribe that was dedicated to the preservation of the Razorwhips. According to tradition, only female members of the Royal Family of the Chieftain could fill the role. But doing so meant giving up the idea of get married, raising a family, and dedicating most of one’s life to Freya.
Young Atali is 17-years-old and her father has plans to marry her off to the son of an old ally of theirs. While she doesn’t protest, she’s not accepting of it either. She has no idea what her purpose is in life and doesn’t know what she wants to do. But she knows that duty to her clan comes first. That is... before Fate had other plans.
When she finds a young man unconscious on her island’s shore due to a shipwreck, her life is changed forever. He is a young merchant by the name of Johann Johansson and he fascinates her and her people with many tales of his journeys and adventures, as well as those that he has heard from his travels. Her heart stirs with a desire to explore and travel to places that she’s never seen before, let alone heard of them.
As he recovers from his injuries, Johann and Atali fall in love. Unfortunately, her father is adamant for her to marry the son of their old ally; and with Johann being a merchant now with nothing to his name, and Atali being of royal blood, just the mere suggestion of their union would never be considered. Nonetheless, this doesn’t stop romance from blossoming between them.
Will they be able to live a happily ever after? Or is their love condemned to the fate of never being together? Will she choose love, duty, or will Freya make things more complicated by throwing the Wingmaiden option on the table?
Saga of the Berserkers (HTTYD Retelling Series)
(HTTYD) This story focuses on the narrative of the Berserker Tribe -- namely the Royal Family of High Chieftains who rule Berserk. Osvald, Osvald’s Wife, Heather, Dagur, their extended family -- we will see them all. We will also see the shifting political plates as characters grow up and things heat up as Osvald disappears while on a Quest with Lady Valka to find a way to end the Dragon Wars. Dagur starts butting heads with members of his own family, namely Thorvald (OC), his cousin, and others. This saga will also detail the relationships between the characters and how this’ll result in the eventual Berserker Wars with Berk.
Savage's Saga / Savage's Revenge
(RTTE / Post-RTTE) Savage may have lost his opportunity to rule the Berserkers thanks to the Dragon Riders, but that doesn’t mean he’s out of the fight yet! When his backup plan is activated, he and his cohorts are able to escape captivity and flee Berserk. However, Savage’s heart is fuming for revenge for the humiliation and defeats that he had suffered at the hands of his former masters and the Dragon Riders as well.
With this in mind, Savage gathers his followers and goes into hiding, determined to build and grow his strength for when he can strike his enemies. When that opportunity arises, Savage is determined to finally become a Viking Hero of Legend.
Will Savage be able to overcome all obstacles and enemies in his path and claim the Title of Ultimate Villain?
Savage Regression (Reincarnation/Regression AU)
(RTTE / HTTYD) While dying from pneumonia while in prison after having failed in his coup, Savage is left with the bitter regret of not having become the Great Viking of Legend that he had always promised himself (and his mother) that he would become. However, when he wakes up, assuming to be in Niflheim, he’s instead back during his days as an Outcast. How did he end up here? Regardless, Savage is determined to not let this chance go to waste. It is also time for him to change the past, and reverse choices that he had regretted having made in his past life.
Will Savage be able to come out on top as Ultimate Viking?
Savage Rematch (Reincarnation/Regression AU)
(RTTE S5 E3) Not wanting to take any chances of him escaping and starting a coup again, the Berserkers decide to kill Savage and his followers by beheading. However, an unlikely ally decides to step in, and, upon his death, he has regressed back in time to before the Dragon Riders came to Berserk.
Noticing this, Savage decides to monopolize this second chance at life and change things up, now armed with the knowledge of past events, and setting up countermeasures against that happening again, will Savage be able to change history and alter his fate? Or is he only setting himself up to lose again?
Into the Archipelago (Nonfiction)
Similar with the How to Pick Your Dragon work, this work will be in a “non-fiction” format in the guise of Hiccup and Fishlegs writing this for the future generations of Vikings about the nations of the Archipelago. This work will detail the geography, history, politics, culture and customs of every “Tribe” (even though they’re technically communities or chiefdoms) in the Archipelago seen and/or mentioned in the HTTYD franchise.
Even though there are probably many “Tribes” in the Archipelago, most of them aren’t mentioned or shown, so I’ll only be focusing on those communities that are shown and mentioned. Some of the communities portrayed are inaccurate and so I’ll be altering them to fit the HTTYD world better.
Please keep in mind that the majority of this content will contain my headcanons, theories, and my perceptions of these Tribes, since much is unknown about these Tribes and I have to fill in the blanks to the best of my abilities.

Fateful Consequences (A Brave trilogy)
(Canon Divergence / Historical AU / Arranged Marriage AU)
[Eventual Merida x OMC]
.
In an alternate universe where there is no magic, Merida’s rebellion has real-life consequences, and she has to witness her misdeeds tear apart the former unity of the Four Great Clans and have it start a civil war between them once more. As a result, the Viking-held earldoms of the Scottish islands take advantage of this turmoil and invade the Kingdom of Dun Broch. When they try to claim the castle, Fergus orders his family to ride to one of their relative’s clans for safety, and battles them out as his family rides out from the castle to escape the invaders. But they end up getting captured by Norse raiders.
Elinor and Merida are put into a tent with other hostages. Merida is left with feelings of guilt and sorrow for what her selfishness caused and afraid of what their fate will be. But her fiery heart is determined to right the wrongs that she had caused and restore her Kingdom. She and her mother also befriend two royal adolescents from a Scot-Norse clan who’ve also been taken hostage. When the camp gets attacked by a warband and the hostages rescued, she meets her new friends’ elder brother, a ruler-in-exile by the name of Heimir (called “Hamish” by the Scots), who heard about his siblings being taken and rushed to save them.
Later on, when they return to his base, Elinor and Merida ask him to help them reclaim their home and route the Norse invaders, but Hamish’s court isn’t willing to participate in a war that was of their (Dun Broch’s) own doing and tell them that the only reason they would go to war was if Merida’s hand was proffered in exchange for martial aid.
Will Merida learn her lesson and sacrifice her freedom for the sake of her people, or will history repeat itself? Will she fix her mistakes and defeat the Norse invaders with Hamish’s aid, or will their new union fracture under the weight of different cultures, beliefs, customs, and idealogies?
—
This trilogy will consist of this fic, along with a prequel fic that will dive into Hamish’s past and the events leading up to his fateful meeting with Merida and Elinor, and then a sequel fic which will not only focus on their future, but also on their quest to find Merida’s missing father and brothers.
In addition, I plan on there being short stories or semi-full-length stories which will give alternative scenarios in Hamish’s case spouse-wise — since he had a couple of past love interests whom he couldn’t get together with — and how they would change his fate. Including a what-if fanfic where Hamish marries Elinor instead of Merida (due to Fergus dying) and how that would change the current plot only slightly.
The Pirate Life (Brave 2012)
(Pirate AU)
[Eventual Merida x OMC]
Merida is the boisterous daughter of an infamous Scottish pirate in the Caribbean. When a raid goes horribly wrong and ends up in prison, a mysterious ally comes to rescue her on behalf of her father. He is the complete opposite of her -- and everything she detests. And yet... why does he draw her mind in like a will-o’-the-wisp?
The Boy King (A Frozen story)
(Historical AU / Light Supernatural AU)
[OMC x OFC, later Anna x Kristoff, mentioned Elsa x OMC]
.
This story is part of the same universe as FTN and Han’s Redemption, being around 1830s-1840s, and will be focused on a foreign nation that’s in dire straights. Prince Nyrriki, the youngest and only surviving son of King Haappi of the Kingdom of Tulemar, inherits a political hot potato stuffed with explosives when his father dies under suspicious circumstances. With Nyrriki being too young to rule, his grandfather decides to take up the mantle until his grandson comes of-age — only for him to share the same fate some time later, leaving Nyrriki all alone.
But since birth, there were omens and a phenomenon that only a couple of people noticed and saw: Nyrriki was born during a fierce storm during the night — possibly foretelling that he will live during a tumultuous time and dark period in the Kingdom’s future. Not only this, but Tuumi Varyoya (”dark shadows”) — evil spirits of the spirit world in folklore — tried to kill the boy, or at least put a curse on him, but was stopped by the Fire Spirit, Tulisydaan (”Fireheart”), considered by many, according to legend, to be the Guardian of and Guide to the Royal Family, and is said to be the living spirit of the volcano by the same name. Ever since he was young, Nyrriki was able to hear the whispers of this Guardian Spirit and even see it when it decides to show itself. Besides his siblings, this spirit was his only friend for a long time.
8-year-old Nyrriki, considered too young to take up the throne, is forced aside so that the Council can rule in his stead until he comes of age (even though there are notable exceptions in the laws that exempt him from this rule). Even from a young age, Nyrriki has had a powerful urge to rule despite his young age, and rule like the Warrior Kings of Old — to protect his people from any danger and exploitation thrown at them. But such ideals are considered old-fashioned and “no longer applicable” in this current modern age. But with a Council who seeks their own interests, enemies on all sides, claimants who wish to take the throne for themselves in Nyrriki’s place, and with the kingdom on the brink of economic and political collapse — on top of all the bias and prejudice towards his age and inexperience — the young heir definitely has a steep uphill climb to the top if he wishes to be the monarch his people need. It’s up to Nyrriki to search for some trustworthy allies and friends who can support his dream, vision, and ambition.
On top of all of this, their trading partner, Weselton, adds to the turmoil by imposing economic and political pressure onto the already-struggling nation, sensing weakness like a shark to blood. What’s more, Weselton is rumored to be meddling in Tulemar’s administrative affairs, and could also have been the culprit behind the deaths of Nyrriki’s father and grandfather. And war is a grim possibility not only from Weselton but from other nations besides.
Can Prince Nyrriki survive this tribulation long enough to be King? Can he pluck his kingdom out from the metaphorical furnace and bring them into a golden age that they haven’t seen in a century(ies)? Can he overcome his adversaries and his country’s enemies? Or will he lose everything and succumb his people into a period of conquest and foreign rule and darkness?
From the North (A Frozen story)
(Historical AU / Arranged Marriage AU)
[Eventual Elsa x OMC(??) and Kristoff x Anna]
.
In an AU where Elsa has no magical powers, and, as a result, bears the consequence of Elsa and Anna’s parents still alive (thus making Elsa a princess again) and there’s no war that happens — for now. And since Elsa is now of-age to look for a suitor, many candidates come from many countries. One of whom is Nordrik X of the Northern Isles, and also the Duke of Weselton’s son, Lord Waldo.
However, between assassination attempts, kidnapping attempts, and suitors wearing masks of charisma while hiding barely concealed daggers of ambition, who can Princess Elsa truly trust and proffer her hand to in eternal matrimony?
Then Prince Nordrik X offers his assistance. Can Elsa trust him, or will he prove to be another Hans? Just who is he? Can they be able to defeat the conspiracies, or get swallowed by them?
Hans’s Redemption (A Frozen story)
(Prince Hans x OFC)
This story idea has been a great source of internal conflict for me over the years. I’ve heard of and read several Hans redemption stories, and also of how much flak they’ve gotten over the years due to how badly written several of them have been (among other things). However, I’ve been vaguely outlining it with a friend or two of mine and I think I can confidently say that I can do this when I decide to do it.
Set in a Historical AU — where cannons, muskets, and pistols exist — Prince Hans of the Southern Isles has been dealing with his punishment for 3 years, his reputation tarnished and his plans foiled. And the persecution of his Father and brothers has gotten worse due to his failure and shaming the family name. However, he gets a surprise one day. His brother, Lars, who gave him the idea of marrying into the Arendelle royal family and ruling there (but not the murder part), comes to him and gives him a chance to escape their family and the Southern Isles... forever. Lars arranges for him to leave the Southern Isles on a ship and gives him new clothes and money and they say goodbye for the final time, before Hans leaves.
Hans arrives to a distant small country and accidentally ends up becoming the Heir when an ailing King is appalled by his son’s antics, which is bringing the Kingdom down and causing conflict within his Kingdom. Hans is basically offered the Throne on a silver platter — provided that he marry the Princess, along with a few other conditions. Of course, as is routine, many of the nobility and the son don’t approve of this new move, and when Hans does eventually become King, he’ll have a devil of a time proving himself and winning their favor.
This story will focus on Hans’s journey and will detail his slow and gradual reformation, in a *hopefully* realistic and believable manner. One that will hopefully keep Hans in-character while giving him the chance to change into someone better... in time.
This may or may not end up being connected to my Boy King and From the North stories.
<><><><><><><>
There’s also the myriad of one-shots that aren’t included in this post. I’ve also been thinking about writing some HTTYD/Drifting Dragons crossover fanfics. Because it’d be a crime to pass that up! lol XD
<><><><><>
Note: Of course, I’m not working on these projects all at once. But these are projects that are in my files that I outline from time-to-time. The top-most ones are the ones that I’m currently focusing on. But this list isn’t exactly in order. It may be that I get inspired and do one of the fanfics that aren’t one of the foremost ones.
<><><><><>
There are also several other projects I plan on doing but they’re either far-off into the future or belong to my other profiles (such as @minlout3heathlegs3ruffthrokfan @companion-of-the-dragonmark profiles).
Plus, also, the myriad of one-shots that I have planned. Hehe. ^_^

SIENTJKRV OK SO—
BKDK HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON AU
BUT INSTEAD OF HICCUP AND ASTRID AS IZUKU AND KATSUKI.
KATSUKI IS STOICK AND IZUKU IS VALKA.
I JUST IMAGINE THAT ONE SCENE FROM THE MOVIE—
Katsuki cupped Izuku's cheeks, looking at him with a soft, fond, awe-loving stare that Izuku wasn't familiar with— and whispered. "You are still as beautiful as the day that I've lost you.."
AND THE PLOT WOULD BE ALL LIKE, IZUKU GOT TAKEN BY THE DRAGONS SINCE HE WAS A LITTLE BOY WHILE PLAYING WITH KATSUKI.
AND KATSUKI SWORN TO AVENGE HIS (first Love's) CHILDHOOD FRIEND'S LIFE AND TRAINED TO BE NEXT IN BEING THE CHIEF BCZ IZUKU "DIED".
INKO AND YAGI MADE HIM THE NEXT CHIEF BCZ THEY KNEW THAT WAS WHAT IZUKU WOULD'VE WANTED.
AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW THAT IZUKU WAS ALIVE AND WAS LIVING AND LEARNING ABOUT DRAGONS.
He was 13 when he was taken, Katsuki and Izuku would still be friends while growing up bcz they don't have quirks here, even tho Izuku is weak, Katsuki still tries to protect him, Katsuki is still friends with Izuku bcz he didn't get much praise from his peers like the canon.
But it really messed up his head when Izuku got taken and that was the start of his hot headedness.
Idekrnrkkdk ERI AS HICCUP??? KOUTA AS ASTRID!!!
Eri was born with a horn shaped lump on her head after Katsuki became Chief (he's like,, 22 now)
But she wasn't his biological child, she was actually at another island, her father—chisaki, didn't like her appearance and he tried dropping her on a cliff.
But at this time, Izuku finally bulked up a bit and is living and familiar with dragons after 9 years and he learned everything about them and learned how to fly with them too and when he saw this man dropping a child from a cliff, he swooped in and saved Eri from the fall, the bottom was foggy so Chisaki couldn't see but he thought Eri was already dead so he walked off, not realizing there was a big ass dragon opening it's mouth to shoot fire into his whole body lmao
After that, Izuku tried raising Eri for a year with the dragons and realized that this isn't a suitable place to raise a child well and he was heartbroken by this realization and decided to maybe, give her near a village.
Perfect timing that Katsuki was out hunting in a nearby woods when Izuku was flying his dragon to go to the nearest village but then he saw this tall strong blond male hunting, he seemed to target a big deer but then he stopped when he saw two baby calves nearby and cursed out loud, making the deers run away.
And Izuku thought he was a perfect parent and all that without realizing that it was Katsuki.
So he left Eri (he hugged her tight one last time— his little snow) within Katsuki's sight and looked behind a tree. Ofc Katsuki saw the child and was like "it's parent's must've left it here to die bcz of the strange looking bump on it's forhead." And angrily took her back to his village, Izuku sighed in relief, knowing that the person that took her was a nice morale one.
And he left.
And Katsuki is all like, I'm just keeping you around till I find you a good enough family and one day Eri is all like Papa to Katsuki and Katsuki is all like Fuck shit looks like I'm a father now. And adopts Eri officially. And Katsuki mellows out again.
Eri didn't know why she had a fascination for dragons and wanting to learn about them and decided to use a journal and Katsuki was anxious (scared—) bcz his little girl acted just like Izuku, he still had Izuku's journals somewhere safe bcz he's a secret sentimental bastard and all that.
People loved Eri and shit but they were worried that there was gonna be another Izuku incident bcz of it and yada yada yada.
Gobber is Kirishima.
Tuffnut and Tuffnut as Katsuma and Mahoro.
Fishlegs as one of Tsu's little brother.
And Snotlout as that spoiled kid from the "I wanna see your cute face. Ft. Todoroki and bakugou" Episode.
Kouta is definitely Astrid.
And Eri kissed his cheeks Instead and bla bla bla.
So after most of the movie plot and Katsuki just accepted that Kouta is gonna be part of their weekend dinners from now on and the dragons when his daughter had almost died bcz of him.
They met Izuku again.
Eri learned how to do the flaming sword, she's like, 16 now. (And Izuku is like, 39 at this point but let's just make him look like he's in his mid twenties)
And Izuku revealed his face to her and was all like, "Eri..?" And Eri was all like "How did you know my name???" (And Izuku low-key blushed coz that was the name he wanted for his child to have when kacchan asked. He still didn't know that it WAS Katsuki is her dad tho.) He slowly removed his mask and kneeled to cup Eri's face and was all like "I could never forget you my little snow."
And it all clicked from there. Where she got her fondness for dragons, her little drawings of green bunnies (bcz of Izuku's mask HAHA) , her crybabyness, and her Notebooks.
She kind of adapted his traits shen she was 2 and she kind of connected some dots after she remembered her dad saying that she acted like her first love alot.
And she asked him. "...Are you Deku?"
Ofc this surprised Izuku and he was like "how did you know that name??" And she was all like "My dad talks about his first love to me because the way I acted reminded him, my dad is Chief Bakugou Katsuki from birth." And Izuku's eyes widen and he was all like "Kacchan is the Chief now?!"
Ofc they reunited at last after Katsuki tracked down where her daughter was and tried attacking Izuku coz he was wearing a mask and he did not recognize him until he was pinned to the ground (damn this guy is strong wtf?!) And Eri is like NO! STOP DEKU! THAT'S MY DAD.
And Katsuki froze and the person above him whispered "Kacchan..?"
And that ladies and gentlemen, was the third time in his 40 years of living, crying.
(first when Izuku was taken and second when he thought Eri died)
So yeah, (first Love's) Childhood friend reunion!!!
They talked alot and it was the first time Eri saw his dad smiling and laughing alot with someone that isn't her. And she just casually mentioned about how Izuku is her dad's first love and all and both became a blushing mess and stutters.
(wow never in a million years did she thought her dad would act like this,)
So they went back to Berk on their dragons (Eri did not loose a leg, and her Dragon is a Light fury instead!!!)
And Watch everyone doing a reunion for Izuku and bla bla bla and all that (we aren't gonna make the whole Stoick dying part, no fricken way,)
And both now reunited childhood friends tried to flirt with each other and being oblivious to both of their antics and the whole village find this amusing and just kept quiet while Eri thinks Kouta would have a permanent hand shape mark on his face for facepalming too many times because of both of her parental figures that act like fucking teenagers hahahaha.
Like that's their whole plot lmao, hope you enjoy!!????
(this is unedited and rushed coz it's really late where I live and I'm sorry for any possible spelling errors, it just struck me in the middle of the night and I'm too tired to reread and edit it lmao, I'm sorry, thx for reading!!)
this is rly rly cuteeeeeee. i’ve never actually seen httyd 2 or 3, but i loved this- the bits w eri and jouta were adorable too 🥺🥺🥺 i would so totally read this fic!

CHAPTER 1

The Great Hall of Berk hummed with the morning clamor of a village waking to the promise of a new day. The air was thick with the scent of yeast and woodsmoke, the sweet smell of fresh baked goods ready for the taking but not without a symphony of chaos swirling around you as you danced between ovens and tables in a blur, with flour-dusted hands.
Loaves of bread, their golden crusts glistening with a crisp perfection, stacked high upon the counters in a tantalizing display. Among them, an irresistible assortment of buns—barley, ryes smothered in butter, and berries with oats—each mouthwatering with rustic flavor.
Stretching before you, a mile-long table groans under the weight of temptation: frothy eggnog, honeyed mead, and robust ale, each poised to dance with creamy skyr's or steaming bowls of porridge. And that's just the beginning. Succulent meats, tender fish, plump eggs, vibrant fruits, and crunchy nuts sprawl across the spread, a cornucopia of delights ready to satisfy the ravenous hunger of the tribe.
While the shouts of hungry Vikings echoed through the stone walls—orders barked with the urgency of warriors prepping for any sudden battle.
"More rye, lass!"
"Where's the barley flatbread?"
"Don't skimp on the butter this time!"
You stumbled over your own feet, catching yourself against a barrel of pickled herring before it toppled, a laugh bubbling up despite the madness. This was your domain, your forge of flour and fire, and though the frenzy threatened to swallow you whole, pride sparked in your chest like a well-tended ember.
You kneaded the last batch of dough with a fierceness that would've made a dragon crawl away, slamming it onto the table with a satisfying thwack. The rhythm of it steadied you—knead, fold, press—until the dough was smooth and ready for the oven. Wiping sweat from your brow with the sleeve of your elbow, already streaked with flour, you surveyed the kitchen.
Milkmaidens darted about, their aprons flapping like dragon wings, juggling trays of cheese and slabs of smoked fish. The head cook, a stout woman named Marta, bellowed at a young lad who'd nearly upended a cauldron of porridge. It was a storm, yes, but one you'd learned to ride with the same grit that kept Berk standing against the war.
"That's the last of it," you called, sliding the dough into the roaring oven. The heat kissed your face as you shut the iron door with a clang. Turning to Marta, you tugged at the ties of your apron. "I've got to run—Hiccup's waiting."
Marta's head snapped up; her wooden spoon poised mid-stir like a weapon. "Now? You're leaving me in this mess? The chieftain's crew'll be here any minute, and they'll eat us alive if the bread's not—"
"You've got it under control," you shot back, already halfway to the door, snagging a cloth from the counter. With a deft hand, you bundled a wedge of creamy goats' cheese, between a hunk of fresh flatbread, with some smoked meat and a fried egg—Hiccup's favorite, a little morning ritual you'd started years ago when his skinny frame needed coaxing to fill out. "Besides, I'll be back before Stoick's beard hits the table!"
"Lass, you're a menace!" Marta hollered in her heavy accent, but there was a grudging fondness in her tone as she waved you off, already turning to scold the porridge boy again.
You burst out of the Great Hall into the crisp morning, the wind tugging at your hair as it carried the tang of salt and pine from the cliffs and mountainside. Berk sprawled before you, alive with the clatter of hammers, the bleat of sheep, and the distant roar of a blow horns and shouts overhead—probably one of the twins stirring trouble again.
Your boots pounded the dirt path, the bundle clutched tight against your chest, warm and fragrant. The village blurred past—old man Mildew grumbling at his cabbages, a gaggle of kids chasing a chicken—and your heart thudded with a mix of urgency and something softer, something that always stirred when you thought of Hiccup.
He'd be waiting, probably perched on that rocky outcrop overlooking the harbor you two always shared, scribbling in his sketchbook or muttering to himself about some wild new idea. Ever since you were kids, he'd drag you into his schemes—mapping new ideas that would benefit Berk, testing contraptions that usually ended in singed eyebrows or a stern lecture from Gobber.
You'd been his shadow, his anchor, and somewhere along the way now both at the tender age of fifteen, that quiet crush you waved off had settled in your chest and blossomed more unwillingly. Only sometimes you'd hope he'd never see you as just the bread making Viking who tagged along. A small hope that flickered every time his green eyes lit up with a grin meant just for you—though you'd long convinced yourself it was nothing more than friendship to save yourself.
The path climbed, and your breaths came sharp as you rounded the final bend. There he was, silhouetted against the rising sun, a lanky figure hunched over, legs dangling off the cliff. Hiccup's auburn hair caught the light, tousled by the breeze, and his head was bent over something—probably another madcap invention doomed to earn Gobber's exasperated sigh.
You slowed, catching your breath, and felt that familiar tug in your chest. As you stepped forward, cheesecloth in hand, the wind carried a faint growling-rumble from him, and a laugh slipped from your lips—half at the oddity of the sound, half at the sight of Hiccup's hunched frame as he scribbled away in his journal.
His head snapped up at the sound, green eyes catching yours as you crested the hill. A grin flickered across his face—real and unguarded, the kind he saved just for you—and he set down his tools quickly as you closed the distance. You dropped onto the grass beside him, nudging his shoulder with yours.
"Brought you your fave again," you said, unwrapping the cloth with a flourish. "My original, egg-cheese, meat breakfast muffin!"
Hiccup's eyes lit up, and he snatched it from your hands, sinking his teeth into it without a second's pause. "Gods, this is my favorite," he mumbled through a mouthful, voice warm with that earnestness that always tugged at you.
You smiled, pulling out your own and taking a bite, the rich tang of the cheese and smoky meat settling on your tongue. For a moment, you both fell quiet, chewing in companionable silence as the sun rose higher, painting Berk's jagged cliffs in hues in warm orange and blue. The village sprawled below, a patchwork of roofs and smoke trails, framed by the endless sea stretching toward the horizon. It was a rare stillness, the kind that felt like a held breath.
Hiccup finished first, brushing crumbs from his tunic with a satisfied sigh, then turned to you, his face alight with sudden energy. "I did it," he said, voice buzzing with excitement.
"Finished your food first?" You respond sarcastically.
"Yes, but no—Finished the dragon trap. It's gonna catch a Night Fury—the Night Fury."
You nodded, still savoring your muffin, as he leaned closer to you.
"This is it, y'know? If I can pull this off, everyone'll finally notice me—Dad, the village, everybody. Maybe I'll even. . ." He hesitated, a flush creeping up his neck. "Maybe even get a girlfriend."
You kept chewing, the meat turning a little tougher in your mouth as you tilted your head, listening. His eyes were fixed on the horizon now, bright with dreams you'd heard a hundred times—dreams you'd helped him sketch on scraps of parchment, dreams you'd quietly wished might one day include you. But you nodded anyway, letting him ramble on about the trap's clever gears and the glory he was chasing.
"You'll do it, Hiccup. You've been planning this for months now. Now we just wait for that dragon. Hopefully, of course, without destruction on its part. . ."
His eyes flicked to yours, brightening, and he nodded—a small, grateful smile breaking through his usual tangle of nerves. "Thanks," he said, soft but sure, the word landing like a spark between you. "And for having my back on this."
For a beat, you held his gaze, that ache in your chest flaring, before the distant clang of the forge bell snapped you both back to Berk's relentless rhythm.
"Gobber's gonna skin you if you don't get back to work," you teased, brushing crumbs from your hands as you stood. Hiccup groaned, dragging a hand through his hair.
"Yeah, and Marta's probably got a ladle with your name on it," he shot back, smirking. You laughed, hefting the empty cloth.
"Meet you at the forge later? After I've survived the Great Hall, and you've dodged Gobber's wrath?"
"Deal," he said, already turning back to his workbench, muttering about adjustments. You lingered a moment, watching him, then turned down the path, the rumble fading into the morning's hum.
The hours slipped by in a blur of Hairy Hooligan chaos. Back at the Great Hall, you dodged Marta's sharp tongue and the Vikings' endless appetites, morning, afternoon, and now evening. Your hands stirring while your mind wandered to Hiccup's trap—and the plans to come after.
Meanwhile, the village churned on: smoke curled from chimneys, sheep bleated, and somewhere, a horn sounded signaling another practice raid thwarted. By evening, the sun hung low, casting sharp shadows over Berk's rugged sprawl, and you finally broke free, boots kicking up dust as you headed for the forge again.
The forge glowed like a dragon's maw, heat rippling the air as you approached. Gobber's voice boomed over the clang of metal, his hammer-hand punctuating a lecture you could've recited by heart. "—and if ye think I'm cleanin' up another one of yer 'genius' messes, Hiccup, ye've got another thing comin'!"
Hiccup stood by the anvil, head ducked, fiddling with a tangle of rope and gears that looked suspiciously like his trap. He caught your eye as you stepped in, flashing a sheepish grin—half apology, half plea for rescue.
"Saved by the baker," you called, leaning against a workbench. Gobber wheeled around, his eyes narrowing, though the corner of his mouth twitched.
"Oi, lass, don't encourage him! This one's been goofin' about all mornin'—nearly set me eyebrows on fire, he did." Hiccup opened his mouth to protest, but Gobber barreled on, waving his hammer-hand.
"And you—shouldn't ye be feedin' the village instead of nursin' this troublemaker's ego?"
"Already did," you said, crossing your arms. "Thought I'd see if Hiccup's still in one piece." Hiccup rolled his eyes, but the grin lingered as he hefted the trap's frame, its metal glinting in the forge light.
"It's ready," he said, voice brimming with that restless energy you knew too well. "Tonight's the night—I can feel it."
Gobber snorted, muttering something about "fool's hope," but you caught the flicker of pride in his gruff stare at Hiccups invention. The forge hummed around you, a heartbeat of steel and sparks. Whatever Hiccup was chasing, it was coming fast and it almost made you nervous.
The forge's glow dimmed into the late dark evening, shadows stretching long across the cluttered workbench. Gobber's patience finally snapped, his hammer-hand clanging against an anvil for emphasis as you too went on and on about things he could care less about.
"That's it—I can't be around ye two anymore tonight! Bunch of misfits, schemin' and chatterin' like a pair of natterin' nannies. Don't blow the place up, ye hear?" He stomped toward the door, muttering under his breath about needing a tankard of mead and a moment's peace, leaving the air buzzing with his departure.
You side glanced at Hiccup, catching the glint in his eye as he turned to you, practically vibrating with excitement. "Finally," he said, running up to his dragon trap tucked away near the corner space. You admitted it looked really neat, like some of his previous inventions—this was a contraption as wild as his imagination. It didn't surprise you.
"C'mere, look at this." He said excitedly patting it before he crouched beside it, beckoning you closer, and launched into an explanation that tumbled out faster than a terrible terror could attack.
"See, the tension's all in the springs here," he said, tapping a coiled mechanism. "One good shot, and it'll snap shut—bam!—right around the Night Fury's entire body. Fastest dragon out there, but it won't see this coming." His hands danced over the trap, tracing ropes and pulleys, his voice alive with that reckless hope you'd always admired.
You leaned in, squinting at the tangle. "Looks like it could catch a Gronckle. . .or maybe just tangle you up instead," you teased, nudging a loose rope with your index finger. He huffed a laugh, adjusting it with a quick tug.
"Nah, it's foolproof. Well, mostly. Okay, fifty-fifty." He grinned. "But if it works, Dad'll have to notice. The village, too."
"And Astrid?" you added before you could stop, keeping your tone light despite the sting. He flushed, shrugging, and you let it drop, pointing at a jagged edge.
"Better smooth that down—don't want your Night Fury limping away with a grudge."
"Good call," he said, grabbing a file and setting to work. You traded ideas back and forth—tightening bolts, testing the trigger—until the forge grew quiet, the night pressing in around you. Hours slipped away, the fire dwindling to embers behind you both as you sat waiting on the cliff again, and still no raid came. Hiccup's shoulders slumped as he stared out at the dark, star-strewn sky expression disappointed.
"No dragons," he muttered, disappointment lacing his voice. "Thought tonight was it."
You placed a hand on his back, forcing a smile. "They're just waiting to catch you off guard. C'mon, let's call it—Gobber'll have our hides if we're dead on our feet tomorrow." He nodded, reluctant, and you both trudged out, locking the forge behind you.
The village lay silent under a shroud of clouds, and you parted ways—him to his house, you to yours—carrying the weight of an empty home to go back to.
Hours later, the skies still clung tight to the new morning night, heavy and restless, when the first screech tore through Berk. A dragon raid—fierce and sudden. You were already in the forge, having been shaken up by Gobber barging in and yelling at you for help.
Sweat streaking your face as you and Gobber worked in a frantic rhythm, the air thick with sparks and steel. Axes clattered onto the counter, swords hissed against the grindstone, and Vikings roared past the window and above, silhouettes against bursts of flame attempting to steal the sheep.
"Faster, lass!" Gobber bellowed, tossing a freshly sharpened blade to a burly warrior who barely grunted thanks before charging back into the fray.
"These beasts'll have us for breakfast if we don't arm this lot!" You nodded, hands steady despite the chaos, passing out axes like loaves of bread on a feast day. The forge was a storm—metal clanging, fire roaring, and the stench of singed wool and leather as a stray ember caught someone's cloak.
Then the door banged open, and Hiccup stumbled in, all gangly limbs and wild hair. "I've got it—tonight's the night!" he whispers shouts to you. His eyes were bright, desperate, like he'd finally glimpsed his chance.
You glanced up from the axe you were sharpening, catching his gaze, and flashed a quick grin before continuing to sharpen the blade down for a waiting warrior. Gobber spun around; hammer-hand raised mid-swing.
"Oh, nice of ye to join the party!" he bellowed, sarcasm dripping like forge sweat. "I thought ye'd been carried off!"
You snorted, hefting a different weapon, a sword, onto the grindstone, sparks showering your apron. "Aye, by a dragon too picky to eat him—couldn't stomach all that brawn," you quipped, shooting Hiccup a smirk.
He grinned, shoving your shoulder playfully as he hauled a giant hammer to the wall and moved closer to you, nearly tripping over a pile of scrap metal.
"Who, me?" Hiccup said, puffing out his chest. "Nah, come on—I'm way too muscular for their taste. They wouldn't know what to do with all. . .this." He flexed, all gangly bravado, the gesture so absurdly exaggerated you choked on a laugh, even as you handed off the sword to a Viking who didn't spare you a glance.
Gobber rolled his eyes, unimpressed. "Well, they need toothpicks, don't they?" he joked, turning back to the anvil with a grunt.
You smirked, but the high demands of Berk's warriors drowned out any retort—shouts for "More axes!" and "Hurry it up!" pulling you back to the grindstone. Your hands flew, sharpening steel, passing tools, your focus split between the work and Hiccup's whirlwind energy as he darted past you, dodging Gobber's half-hearted swipe to reach the window.
Hiccup wrestled getting to work muttering about angles and tension, a lanky form of determination. You tracked him with quick glances, axe blades singing under your hands, too buried in the rhythm to catch every word of their brewing argument.
Then Hiccup's voice cut through—"I might even get a date"—and your head snapped up, interest flaring with small hope.
Your eyes flickered to him, catching the hopeful tilt of his grin, until a Viking's bellow—"Oi, lass, where's my sword?!"—jerked you back. You muttered an apology, hands scrambling to finish the blade, ears still tuned to their banter.
"If ye want to get out there and fight dragons, ye need to stop all. . .this," Gobber said, waving his hammer-hand at Hiccup in a broad, exasperated arc. You turned, mid-motion, eyebrow raised as you caught the tail end.
Hiccup blinked, incredulous. "But you just pointed to all of me. . ."
"Yes! That's it! Stop being all of you," Gobber shot back, flashing a winning grin that made your stomach twist. You shook your head, jaw tightening, and slammed a pile of sharpened tools onto the counter for the next wave of Vikings.
Gobber's jabs at Hiccup always stung you sideways—too close to the scorn the village heaped on him—and you buried the flare of anger in the work, pounding steel harder than necessary. They kept at it, trading barbs over the forge's roar, while you stayed silent, letting the clatter of metal drown out the urge to snap.
Then a shout shattered the air—"Night Fury!"—and the forge trembled as a shadow-streaked past, unseen but felt, a ripple of dread through the chaos.
Gobber straightened, peg leg thudding. "Mind the fort, ye two! They need me out there!" He wheeled on you both, hammer-hand jabbing.
"Stay. Put. There. . .both of ye. Ye know exactly what I mean." With that, he was gone, charging into the fray with a bellow, leaving the forge quieter but no less alive.
You turned to Hiccup, wide-eyed, the air between you crackling. You knew that look—the glint of a chance he'd been chasing since he first sketched that trap. "You going?" you asked, voice low but steady, a hint of worry.
"Yep!" he shouted, already snagging the trap's frame. "I'll see you soon!" He bolted for the door, a blur of lanky limbs and reckless hope, and you watched him go, heart thudding against your ribs. The forge hummed along with yelling Vikings piling up, embers glowing all around outside, and the Night Fury's sound echoing everything growing chaotic.
"Be careful. . ." You had whispered after he could let you say anything.
You stood alone in the heat, the air thick with soot and the tang of molten steel and turned back to the grindstone. Vikings pounded at the wood framed window, hands outstretched—"Axe, lass!" "Sword, now!"—and you moved quickly, sharpening blades, tossing them out, your arms burning but relentless.
You kept your head down, hands focused on the job at hand, but your mind flickered to Hiccup—out there with that rickety trap, chasing a dream he worked so hard to build. You only prayed he'd be ok.
The raid raged on, a blur of shouts mixed with dragon's roars and flame. You sharpened another sword, passing it back to a warrior whose beard was singed black and strands still burning. The forge was your second battlefield besides the kitchens, and you held it—alone, steady, until a distant crash jolted the air, sharper than the usual din.
You stayed put, as Gobber had ordered, piling blades on the counter before they could take them, ears straining for any hint of Hiccup's fate. The sky lightened, a bruised gray creeping over the horizon as morning began to peak, when a new sound reached you—Stoick's bellow, loud enough to rattle the forge walls, followed by the murmur of a gathering crowd.
Wiping sweat and soot from your face, you stepped outside, the dawn air sharp against your skin. Down the hill, the village had clumped around the wreckage of a catapult tower—flames licking its splintered remains. Hiccup stood at the center, shoulders hunched, dwarfed by Stoick's towering frame.
A Monstrous Nightmare roared, pinned by a toppled net, and Stoick wrestled it back, barking orders—"Take it to the pens!"—before rounding on his son. You edged closer, boots crunching on charred earth, catching the tail end of the lecture as the crowd watched, a mix of pity, shame and scorn in their eyes.
". . .Every time you step outside, disaster follows!" Stoick thundered, his voice a hammer strike. "Can you not see that I have bigger problems? Winter's almost here, and I have an entire village to feed!"
Hiccup shifted; voice small but defiant. "Between you and me, the village could do with a little less feeding, don't you think?" A few Vikings gasped offended, while you covered your mouth to hide the laugh, but Stoick's glare silenced them.
"This isn't a joke, Hiccup! Why can't you follow the simplest orders?" he demanded, hands clenched.
"I—I can't stop myself," Hiccup stammered, gesturing helplessly. "I see a dragon, and I have to just. . .kill it, you know? It's who I am, Dad. . ."
Stoick pinched the bridge of his nose, exasperation carving lines into his face. "You are many things, Hiccup. But a dragon killer is not one of them." He straightened, turning to the crowd.
"Get back to your homes!" Then, softer, to Hiccup, "Get back to the house." He glanced at Gobber, who'd limped up beside him. "Make sure he gets there. I have his mess to clean up."
Gobber nodded, slapping Hiccup with his good hand. "Aye, come on." The crowd dispersed, muttering, and Hiccup trudged forward, head down, hands shoved into his tunic as he ignored the other teens. You stepped out from the edge, heart twisting at the slump in his frame, and caught up as he passed. Gently, you laid a hand on his shoulder, squeezing just enough to say I'm here without words.
He glanced at you, eyes shadowed but softening, a faint, tired smile flickering. "See you later," he murmured, barely audible, and you nodded, letting your hand fall as Gobber steered him toward the house. You watched them go—Hiccup's lanky silhouette beside Gobber's hobbling bulk—until they vanished up the path, the weight of his failure and your quiet worry settling like the ash around you. Lingering a moment, the weight of his slumped shoulders etched into your mind, then turned back to the forge.
The chaos had ebbed, leaving charred wood and bent steel in its wake, and you busied yourself stacking axes, the rhythm dulling the knot in your chest. But it didn't stop your ears from straining for his footsteps, or your thoughts from circling back to that scream down the hill.
By mid-morning, you'd exhaustedly traded the forge for the Great Hall, sleeves rolled up, hands buried in dough like every other day before it. This time with barely any sleep. The air hummed with yeast and mead. The low grumble of Vikings in the hall nursing wounds with pride over their porridge.
Marta barked orders as she always did, her ladle a scepter, but you barely heard her—your mind was still out there, with Hiccup, wondering what mess he'd stumbled into now, and how you wished your shift would end so you can visit him or sleep.
Flour dusted your arms as you kneaded, the familiar pull and press a tether to sanity, when a shadow slipped through the door.
Hiccup—eyes wide, darting like a hare caught in the open. He sidled up, voice a hushed rush. "I hit something," he said, tugging your sleeve with that restless energy you couldn't ignore. "Last night, with the trap—I think it worked. C'mon, you've gotta see." His breath was quick, his grin half-thrill, half-panic, and it left a spark of unease in your gut.
You froze, dough clinging to your fingers, and shot a glance at Marta. Her back was turned, but her glare could burn holes through stone. "Hiccup, I'm up to my elbows here—" you started, but his pleading look cut you off, green eyes bright with the kind of wild hope you'd never learned to say no to. You sighed, wiping your hands on your apron. "Fine. But if Marta skins me, you're baking the next five batches."
"Deal," he said, already halfway out the door. You followed, ducking Marta's wrath and the curious stares of a few Vikings, your boots hitting the dirt as Hiccup led you uphill, past the village's edge. The woods loomed, damp and tangled, and he rambled as you went—words tripping over each other about the trap's "perfect shot," the bola's arc, how he'd heard something crash. You stumbled over roots, swatting branches, and tossed him a dry look.
"Perfect shot, huh? Or did you just knock down another tower and call it a win?" you teased, dodging a low limb. He huffed a laugh, shoving you lightly.
"Come on, really? This is it—the Night Fury. I know it." His voice trembled with conviction, and you didn't argue, just kept pace, the air growing thick with pine, earth and the faint tang of rain. You didn't bother to counter, simply matching his stride while you two made it deeper into the woods.
The woods closed the deeper you got. The damp earth tugging at your boots, your heels throbbing after what felt like hours—though you couldn't be sure. Maybe one, maybe two; time blurred by quickly. You hadn't wanted to disappoint him, not with that fire in his eyes. So, you kept on, even as he groaned every mile, his makeshift map—a mess of 'X' marks scratched into his sketchbook—crumpling in his grip.
He edged closer to you, shoving the map under your nose. "Here—see? It's gotta be near," he muttered, tracing a jagged line with a dirt-smudged finger. You squinted at it, biting back a smirk at the chaos of his art, and shifted your weight, wincing as your heels protested.
"Hmm. . .Hiccup?" you said, slowing to a stop. "You think maybe we should head back and try again tomorrow?"
He sighed deeply, a gust of frustration that seemed to deflate him, and snapped the book shut. "Oh, the gods hate me," he grumbled, voice dripping with self-pity. "Some people lose their knife, or their mug. No, not me." You froze, biting your lip to stifle a snort, watching him trudge on, still ranting to the trees—and you.
"—I only manage to lose an entire dragon," he spat, slapping a broken branch in his path. It whipped back, smacking him square in the face, and that broke you. A burst of laughter erupted, echoing around you both as you doubled over, hands on your knees, the sound of your laugh leaving you silent at its peak from sheer force. Hiccup whirled, cheeks flushed and waved a desperate hand to cover your mouth. "Shh! Shush, shush—quiet!" he pleaded, voice a frantic hiss.
Your smile faded as his urgency hit, and you ducked lower beside him, breath catching. The woods stilled—too still—and a rustle rippled through the underbrush. Hiccup's wide-eyed glance met yours, a shared pulse of adrenaline, and you crept forward together, his crumpled map forgotten in his fist. The trail dipped into a ravine, steep and shadowed, and he slowed, breath catching as he heaves—quickly ducking.
"There," he whispered, pointing with a trembling finger. You peered over the edge, and your stomach twisted. There it was—the Night Fury—bound in a snarl of ropes and bola weights, black scales glinting like wet stone against the earth. Its wings still, pinned, and its chest unmoving.
"Hiccup. . ." you breathed, voice barely a thread. "You actually did it," you murmured, awe tinged with worry, your gaze darting between them. He swallowed, face pale, and you saw it—the crack in his resolve, the flicker of something deeper.
He edged closer, pulling his knife from his belt. You lunged to grab his arm, roots jabbing your knees, but he slipped free, clambering over the ravine's lip before you could stop him. He ducked behind a boulder—the only shield between him and the beast—and you crouched, watching, worry gnawing at you. Your lip stung as you bit it hard, tasting iron, eyes locked on his lanky frame huddled in the dirt.
He peeked out, voice rising, loud and brash. "I—I did it! Ohh, this. . .this fixes everything! Yes!" He straightened, chest puffed, and you rose too, both of you bold with the certainty the dragon was dead—its stillness a grim trophy. "I have brought down this mighty beast!" he crowed, stepping forward to plant a foot on its side, triumphant.
Then the Night Fury twitched—a shudder of muscle under scales—and Hiccup froze, the blade shaking in his grip. You stumbled forward, the air thick with earth and the beast's ragged breaths, its green eyes snapping open to bore into his. Very much alive.

hey, it’s your gcwca secret santa again. ⛄️ that song is so good! i can see why it’s your favorite. 💞
loved your video! i didn’t realize how many disney/animated movies had snow scenes. loved seeing httyd in there too!
i’m a big fan of descendants (aren’t we all in the gc? haha) who are your fave descendants characters (like maybe top 5)? would love to hear your thoughts on them, like what you love most about them. 👑
thank you! it started to get harder to think of snow scenes the further in i got lol. httyd is one of my favs!
ooo ok lets go
1. take a WILD guess. lmao mal obvs. beyond just my obvious bias, i do think she's a very layered and developed character and i loved watching her grow from one movie to the next. it's very captivating to see how she deals with her internalized self hatred and the expectations put on to her by her mother and later by all of auradon, and im sure dove pulls from her real life experiences when it comes to that. i also just take a liking to doves more snarky, badass roles (ie. maddie, ruby hale, etc.) 2. dude lol. listen i have had a weakness for talking dogs since i was born and while most of the fandom hated that he started talking i was all for it, especially since it was bobby moynihan who voiced him. granted he doesnt serve all that big of a purpose in the movies but he gets placed this high up simply bc talking dog + descendants = pandering to me. 3. carlos! he's just such a good friend and team player and so sweet. the more ive rewatched the movies, the more ive noticed little moments where he checks in on the other vks or compliments them. im doing my best to not factor in my opinions on the actors irl TOO much but cameron was the cast member i was closest to/got to know the best besides dove so i cant help but think of that when i watch carlos. dove i ofc sought out but cameron more sought ME out just bc of how friendly and giving he was to everyone. ill always cherish that. 4. evie! also a great friend and team player, especially in d3 where she's trying so hard to get everyone to get along. on the surface, she seems so put together and graceful but there are cracks in her shell as we notice in d2 when she's so scared to go back to the isle, and knowing how hard she tries to cover that up makes it all the more heartbreaking. im also a big malvie shipper so theres that, i love how she compliments mal. grumpy girl/bubbly girl is like my FAVORITE trope so naturally i love them together and as individuals. 5. ben! i think i said this last year but much like how everyone in gcwca is a descendants stan as you said, i think everyone is a ben stan too lol. he's just a sweet little puppy dog, i especially love how naive he is when he first gets to the isle. i also love bal and much like evie i think he's a great compliment to mal, but he's a great compliment to everyone honestly! as a good king should be.
who are your favorite descendants characters??
