Artair and Butch had gone out for the eve. It had begun to snow long before night even fell, and it was cold enough to stick and linger without melting. He was unsure how often Butch had seen snow since he lived in Texas, so when he found out it would snow, he took Butch out so he could enjoy it.

He takes him to the lake, his special lake that a fae friend who'd long since left had given him access too. The water is long since frozen, and he plays with Butch on the solid ice like they're skating, and fights him with snowballs. It ends in a tie, with both of the covered in snow.

Still, he keeps an eye on the clock. Close to midnight, he produces cocoa he'd stored in a thermos in his bag, and he places his jacket over Butch's shoulders to keep him warm. They warm up, and while they're standing, looking out at the stars over the drop-off-- midnight strikes. Colors ribbons the sky from this height and maybe with a little fairy magic. It is nothing on northern lights, but a special glimmer of green and gold and blue and pink that is better than any firework, if you asked him.

"Happy New Year, Butch." He absolutely makes him drop what might've remained of his cocoa as he scoops him, kissing him intently as he holds him close and spins just a little. It ends with his foot finding the ice an him slipping, falling back first into a drift of snow. It's cold, but after the shock of the drop, he laughs, before hugging Butch tighter to him, and kissing him again.
