I’ve actually been asked by somebody before if they could translate my fic one time!!! I don’t remember which it was, but I had to politely decline since I didn’t know the language and wouldn’t be able to crowd control the response, but they were super duper polite and kind about it!!!!

I have quite a handful that I’ve started but unfortunately lost the momentum for and can’t find it again.

Writing is a lot like art for me- if inspiration strikes I have to do it THEN AND THERE or else I’ll lose the groove for the kind of style/inspo I wanted to do it in, and unfortunately I had to give up quite a few fanfic projects this year to focus on art and also mainly cuz the beginning of this year has been VEEEEEERY tough and I always prioritise my art over writing unfortunately!!

I’m proud of myself for finishing (I’m Just A) Sweet Transvestite though- that one was made through blood sweat and tears :,)

UHHHH NO CLUE!!! I’ve been TOLD it’s how I characterise my characters and how I write dialog, but I think the easiest thing for ME is describing scenes so I dunno!!

Can saying ‘everything’ count HFNEHENDJ I’m more of an artist than a writer!! But I think the thing I struggle with the most is stretching out important emotional beats. And also commas.

This is going to be a pretty weird mix given I don’t watch all that many TV shows and I’ve taken to watching Danish ones when I do.

1. Star Trek, primarily Deep Space Nine and Voyager. Thoroughly to blame for my latent space nerd streak

2. Mythbusters - proooobably the reason fact checking still can be a reflex for me sometimes (though sometimes I wish it were as explosive as it was on the show)

3. Rejseholdet - early 2000s Danish crime series, sort of proto-Scandinoir, and pretty much the show I learned understanding spoken Danish with. Also to blame for the fact that early on my Danish vocabulary consisted of „hello, my name is Kat, I live in X and study at Y“ and „murder, death, dismemberment, serial killer, knife, axe“. That definitely needed explaining, and the explanation is this.

4. Den klassiske musikquiz - it’s a quiz show about classical music in the style of a British panel show. Puns, slightly bizarre outfits, music by people who have been dead for at least a century, ridiculously obscure knowledge… sounds about right up my alley.

5. Den store bagedyst - the Danish equivalent of GBBO. I still can’t bake pretty cakes, but I have been known to start thinking about how the giant cookies from the cafeteria could be a biiit better if they’d gotten fifteen seconds more in the oven. Also one of my best friends got me to watch it because she wanted me to feel better about my German accent.

6. Mayday - plane crashes and how they happen, or how they’re avoided. I’m just weirdly fascinated by seeing the long chains of events that lead to things going wrong, and just as importantly, how to make things go less wrong

7. Horatio Hornblower - well, it has parts, it counts as a series, right? Also it has ships. And a protagonist who starts as an awkward noodle.

8. …I’m also going to have to say Genial daneben. Source of so many in-jokes between my sister and me, and many a New Year‘s Eve has been spent playing the game (except making it a freeform guess thing like the show instead of giving three choices)

oh, also, forgot to mention in my fic comment: I think tagging that it's gonna end in tragedy/not looking to go anywhere particularly happy (however you'd tag that coherently) would be a good thing, as some people might be expecting a bittersweet ending, or Angst With a Happy Ending (which can be great, but doesn't look to be where this is heading! I think another good tag would be something like 'unnegotiated/undernegotiated kink/BDSM dynamics' or something similar, and then you can use a different tag to describe the situation a little bit better than that. Because, bow howdy is that a large part of the tension of this fic at it's core! Oh! another good one would be 'Dom Drop', and probably 'no/lack of aftercare' because that is what VE is currently struggling with in the narrative (the realization of what he puts SH through and how it's terrible and how it being emotionally unresolved leaves it haunting him). There's proooobably a tag out there for like constantly living in a mutually consensual kink dynamic, but honestly I feel like you'd have to look up BDSM terminology to figure out what the fuck that's actually called to clearly tag it. Also, I feeling like you could have 'pining' or 'longing' as a tag because there's SO FUCKING MUCH in it. Something about VE's physical disability and illness would likely be good, too, esp as his physical dependency on SH is also part of what he's struggling with. also something about their emotional constipation and refusal of full emotional transparency leading them to be Doomed By The Narrative for their own fucking idiocy. how do you tag these things well? beats me! But they'd probably be good! Overall, my suggestion would be that tags are generally more about overarching themes/things that show up often than specifics chapter-by-chapter, as those are often instead put in chapter notes should it feel important enough. And, of course, you can add 'Ask To Tag' in case there's something that someone would like covered in either a chapter's notes or the fic tags themselves should you have forgotten something!

Masquerade

Ok, so… I think I am done with these two dancing! I had FUN with drawing this artwork, though it was also a HUGE challenge. I feel I got better at rendering in digital! The power of simping, I guess. And yeah, I promised to deliver Jamil (And Ashenviper) content and, while it took almost 3 weeks, I hope you all will enjoy these two.

To be fair, Twisted Wonderland somehow kicked my creativity a lot, and I feel much more motivated to do art. Especially Jamil art. Thank you, @masterofrecords, it's all your fault.

The masquerade event was just a perfect combination of beautiful Jamil and Azul, Venetian Masquerade aesthetic (love it, LOVE it) and the gothic architecture (that I am obsessed with since childhood and that I am trying to learn to 3d model). And it also kicked my memories of historical dancing, so now I went back to it!

Hope to make more art! If you love Jamil Viper and have any ideas for future artworks - feel free to drop an ask!

Looks like Ruggie was the only one that did not get the baroque heels. Yes, the heels on all the other costumes are the one you wear for Baroque dancing.

Rollo, ffs, man, why the only guy you put in typical 18-century breeches and stockings (that accentuate calfs BEAUTIFULLY) is JAMIL. Don't get me wrong, dancing makes your calfs look suuuuuper nice, but Rollo, your brain works in... interesting ways.

(I admire Azul's self-control, he did not combust on spot when he saw that)

re: your tag about vimes and not wanting to be in an elevator with him, the number of people who have told me I should have started diskworld with guards! guards! is so many and like, if I'd read that book first I would not have continued the series.

yeaaaah. Yeah. I’m right there with you. Being stuck in an elevator with Vimes for 3+ hours would stress me out/worry me considerably. Downey would just fish his flask out and start off the conversation with the weather and commute times (they’ve gotten worse. both of them) and then we’d make some complaints about the situation, but just the usual you would expect. 

At some point I’m sure he’d make off coloured, very classist commentary and I would be like “that’s problematic” and he’d be like “is it?” and I’d be like “yes” and he’d be like “if you say so” and I know he wouldn’t believe me/wouldn’t care and he’d never change but that’s ok because we’re just stuck in an elevator together, we don’t need to be besties. We’d then move onto a new subject like uh...Love Island or something idk. Because Downey knows how to do small talk and all the social graces and necessities for dealing with uncomfortable situations. When we were finally freed he’d be like “well that was atrocious. Who is in charge here? I wish to lodge a complaint then go spend too much money on fancy cocktails” which is, all considered, reasonable. Vimes though, man, just the thought of it stresses me out. Because he’d be so pent up/angry/wanting to tear the elevator apart to escape and I’d be like “....” and I just don’t like being in small spaces near angry men! it stresses me out! and Vimes is so angry! even when he’s not angry he’s angry!

Anyway.

I got lucky and started with Hogfather. I was also young enough to not find the series abrasive as I do now, so I was able to read through it all. But I would never a) recommend the series to someone over the age of 19/20 and b) recommend someone start with the Watch series. It’s really the set of books that aged the worst, and while that doesn’t diminish the value they hold for people, it’s just not a series I’d recommend to someone as a starting point. Or if I did, I’d do the whole dance of “it was written in the 90s by a straight, white cis man from England who had a very white man in England view of certain things. There are a lot of off colour jokes and not-graceful handling of thing around race, appearance, gender and sexuality. Just, be ready for it”. 

Sorta like how I recommend some of Michael Crichton or Stephen King’s early books (that said, Carrie is better than anything Pratchett ever wrote, and it’s decades earlier). 

My starting place, if someone really wanted to get into it, would be Hogfather, Reaper Man, Going Postal, or one of the Witch books (proooobably Lords and Ladies or one of Tiffany Aching’s).

Vimes, though, man yeah. He’s a character I once liked but have grown and moved beyond in my life. But that’s the case for me in general with Discworld. It’s just not a series I get anything useful or meaningful from anymore. Mostly because it’s not nearly nuanced enough for me in how it deals with certain issues, but that’s just me. I’m sure there are people who would love to fight me behind the local Greg’s for that opinion. 

I do still write fic for it, but from a purely “and per my last email, bitch” standpoint. And as you all know, it’s with the more side-lined characters. I stopped writing Vimes yeeears and years ago. Downey all the way. Downey is infinitely better.

WWII literally like. Fucked with the Romanian government h a r d -- like, I'm talking going from a monarchy to a dictatorship via a coup in less than a year, okay -- somewhere between Miranda discovering the Mold and beginning to experiment with it and her kidnapping heisenberg...

With that timeline (putting Eva dying around 1920 probably? Ish?) it is MUCH more likely that Miranda is actually a fuckin nazi, who kidnapped this kid (at SOME point. I cant find his age fuckin anywhere but we know hes younger than Alcina and regularly referred to as a child and her "little" brother so im gonna hedge my bets and say he was born and kidnapped post wwii) and probably g a v e him the name Karl Heisenberg bc who the fuck knows who he was before she got her hands on him. Not him probably yay brainwashing.

The dog tags were more than likely something he, A) just fuckin found and decided to keep bc ohh shiny metal or B) was given to him by Miranda (who is proooobably a facist) and fuckin kept bc OH SHINY METAL

Plus I mean. They wanted him to be very Dr Frankenstein esq - hence the german themes that keep popping up. And since Romanias super fun new (dictator)leadership was axis aligned finding a bunch of old, abandoned wwii era shit like tanks wouldnt be a HUGE problem?

Also while we're here:

Soldat is the word for Soldier in german, yes, it's also the word for soldier in SEVERAL eastern European languages including Romanian

Panzer is the german word for tank -- he clearly had german artillery hanging around his factory. If he repurposed the metal from those tanks into his soldiers naming that version the Panzer Soldat makes sense as a way to keep shit more organized

How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? 27 fandoms, though for most of them it’s only like one or two. They are Akatsuki no Yona, Bungou Stray Dogs, My Hero Academia, Hunter x Hunter, Tales of Zestiria, Tales of Berseria, Tales of Graces, Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Xillia, Tales of Hearts, Tales of the Rays, Professor Layton, Noragami, Pandora Hearts, Dai Gyakuten Saiban, A Series of Unfortunate Events, RWBY, Tangled the series, Doki Doki Literature Club, Ori and the Blind Forest, Vanitas no Carte, Genshin Impact, Kiznaiver, Boku dake ga Inai Machi, Kuroshitsuji, Ai the Somnium Files, and Charlotte.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos? “Pictures, Posters, and Tender Beauty”, “Plus Est En Vous”, “My Reason”,  “I Am Here, Too”, and “A Bandage for my Scars, and your Heart” ...Not surprised that four out of five of those are MHA fics, but I will never understand how that Tangled the series one I did got so insanely popular..... maybe because the show director himself acknowledged it. 0_0

Do you respond to comments, why or why not? I try to, though I have to shamefully admit I pick and choose which ones I respond to. I appreciate every comment I get, of course, every writer does, but idk, I just feel like a broken record responding to all similar shorter comments with “Thank you so much!!! I’m so happy you liked it <3″ or something like that... Is that cruel of me? >_> I also feel weird responding to comments on my super old stuff, because aside from a few exceptions, I don’t really like most of my old fics anymore alkgklflkkl and I barely remember them enough to be able to give a reasonable response to comments on those. Instead I just put all my energy into responding to longer, more detailed comments, because with those I actually have more to work with to say back... But again, I love all my comments!! I’m really sorry if I don’t respond to your comment, it doesn’t mean I’m not grateful, I just don’t know what to say back OTL

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? Haaaah, there are a few, but proooobably the most angsty ending would be in “Smile, and maybe tomorrow, you’ll see the sun.” Since the thing is basically 12k words of agonizingly drawn-out All Might death... :’) Though I meant for the actual ending to be somewhat hopeful/bittersweet? and I surely have other ones that have more painful endings... But that’s the obvious one that comes to mind, since I’ve had multiple people yell at me for it. :)

Have you ever received hate on a fic? I can’t remember any instances of outright hate, but I’ve gotten some... odd comments every once in a while... Or just some annoying criticism that the person didn’t intend to be mean about, I don’t think, but that realllly wasn’t warranted. These comments are very rare though.

Do you write smut? If so what kind? Noooo way in hell lol

Have you ever had a fic stolen? ....I mean, not that I know of!

Have you ever had a fic translated? Yeah, I think I had at least one someone asked to translate into Russian, although they put it on FF.net lol

Have you ever co-written a fic before? No... I really want to though. Multiple friends and I have planned different ones, but we haven’t gotten around to doing any of them yet because I’m into different fandoms atm and also dealing with health problems that distract me.... My ex-friend and I had a major one that was in the planning stages, but then she stopped being my friend so it never got off the ground. :’) I’m still upset about that...

What's your all time favorite ship? Mmmmm that’s hard; I don’t ship that much at all, so although I have a few favorite ships, one in particular doesn’t really stand out to me as my hardcore OTP.... Buuut I guess I would say Snow/Serah from FFXIII; I love ff13 so much, it’s so special to me, and those two are just the absolute sweetest and the heart and soul of the game 🥺❤️ I haven’t written anything for them or ff13 in general, but maybe someday.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? I only ever have one WIP at a time, so..... Hopefully not my current long one, I am constantly trying to slap myself for thinking, intimidated as I am by it with all my ideas for it and all the research I need to do. :’)

What are your writing strengths? I think I’m really good at writing characters’ emotions... the emotions they show, and everything they’re feeling internally. I really like the stream-of-consciousness style of internal monologue I’ve started using within the last few years; I think it’s very... cathartic? In general I just think I’m good at writing softness, cause I definitely feel the soft feels rereading my stuff lol

What are your writing weaknesses? Motivation.... starting a writing session and not getting distracted.... ADHD.... what do I do. :’) Although I just said I like that stream-of-consciousness style I use, I often feel like I use it too much, or things get redundant, and too wordy and overwhelming, bah..... I’m also shit at just.... knowing things, like worldbuilding, but like, real-world stuff that everyone knows, but I’ve been living under a rock my whole life and not done a lot of things that are normal for most other people, so I struggle with that in my writing, which is why all my fics not-so-subtly eek around mentioning things like food and irl places and so much else, haaah.... now I’m got myself writing 1800s Victorian London; someone save me

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? Ehhhh only do it veryyyy sparingly, like when a character is startled and might briefly revert to their native language, or something similar. I just did that in one of my recent fics, actually, and looked up a few Russian words, being super anal about getting it right.... and I still got a comment correcting my Russian, even though it was only like 3 words in the entire thing, with nothing else to say about the rest of the fic... it was a little frustrating :’)

What was the first fandom you ever wrote for? Akatsuki no Yona/Yona of the Dawn. That was the first series that really got me into fandom and making online friends, and gave me the courage to try writing fics; I’m so grateful to it for that, and it still remains one of my favorite mangas <3 Ah, to be able to pump out fics as easily and quickly as I did back then...

What's your favorite fic you've ever written? I think it’s still “Manufactured Hearts, Real Happiness”, the sole Tales of the Abyss fic I’ve written. TotA is my favorite game of all time, and I wrote this for a Tales big bang that happened a while back; it turned out much longer than I ever anticipated, one of my longest fics to date, and pretty much exactly how I wanted it to be, which is always the best feeling... I was so happy to feel like I did my favorite game justice. :’) Now.... my dream is for my current WIP to become my new favorite, if I can pull it off right; we’ll see :’)
