nevermoor headcanon that after morrigan 'died', she became the patron saint of crows, death of young girls, and fortune. whenever she is depicted in paintings, (which is rather often, usually commissioned by the Temple of the Divine), it is usually with her head bowed, and her hands clasped.
she always wears a face veil, as it is disrespectful to attempted to paint a saint of the Divine's face, especially one as venerated as Morrigan. it's considered traditional to gift a necklace with a black eye to young girls once they turn eleven, in honour of her.
Nevermoor AU where Cadence isn’t there to rescue Morrigan, and she’s deported. Jupiter is also arrested, and pretty much goes mad from a combination of only seeing his Deucalion family once a month, and all the misery that floats around the prison. He’s barely able to leave his cell at all. But enough about him, Morrigan is dropped back at the Crows’s doorstep, but she flees away to Squall Industries, and takes up his offer. She learns that she’s a Wundersmith, and trains until she’s mastered all the Wunderous arts. Now she’s around 20, and hasn’t forgotten Jupiter for a moment. She gets back into Nevermoor through the sky faced clock and meeting Phil from border control again. Under Squall’s careful training, Morrigan is a little more unhinged and self confident now, and strides right into the prison and uses ruination to completely break down the walls of Jupiter’s cell. She thinks that he’d be happy, but he’s been so ruined by years of misery that he’s barely conscious. He’s nothing like he was before. In a blaze of fury for what they did to Jupiter, Morrigan burns down the Nevermoor police force without batting an eyelid. She lives in secret probably in the remains of the now abandoned Deucalion (Jupiter’s sudden arrest was not only bad publicity, but Kedgeree couldn’t pick up the slack fast enough and the entire hotel failed) with the deeply traumatized Jupiter, who still acts the same he did while he was in prison. While she lives in secret, she works with Squall via the gossamer, looking for weaknesses in Nevermoor to exploit, seeking revenge on the entirety of Nevermoor for what happened to Jupiter. Eventually, they find and exploit a weakness, and Squall returns to take over Nevermoor, this time with Morrigan as his right hand.
He succeeds.
It’s been 3 years since we first learned the title for Silverborn: The Mystery of Morrigan Crow! The book will release in 2024/2025 depending on location.
“You seem quieter than usual,” his mum said, pushing the parsnips in his direction.
Hawthorne, fundamentally opposed to all vegetables, pushed them away, “I’m fine.”
“You’re quieter than Homer,” his dad said, nodding at his older brother, who was shovelling roasted parsnips, and thyme and honey baked carrots into his mouth with wild abandon. Apparently his vow of silence didn’t extend to not making gross mouth noises at dinner.
nevermoor au where squall dealt with mildmay by slapping a ring on his finger. morrigan is not happy because she went to nevermoor to escape a bitchy step-mother but now she has new one who's actually lowkey nice but is still a murderer.
So yk in Nevrmoor the first, when Cadence saves Mog and Jupiter and he immediately forgets her?? So what if this, but they're kids and Jupiter thinks Mog invented an imaginary friend
1. Murder mystery……. here are some possible candidates, in no particular order:
— Cassiel
—— Cassiel's disappearance has been long discussed since Wundersmith, I feel like him being an important part of Silverborn could tie into both a lot of confirmed things we know and a lot of theorized things.
— Mog’s Mom
—— I've been holding onto the theme of mothers in this book ever since this interview and the general description of the book being about Mog's backstory. Her mom's death is mysterious. That is all.
— Wundersmiths
—— Morrigan will be working with Squall and likely learning more about Wundersmiths and their history... with Courage Square, they're like one big murder mystery tbh
— Queen Cal
—— @shdwycupcake shared a theory about Queen Cal being the one to die, which I think could be very interesting. She's one of the signatories on Mog's safeguard, which we're supposed to learn more about. There's theories about Mog having a royal background through her mom, which could be interesting if true. Hollowpox started to delve into the politics of the world, so it could be interesting to see that continue.
2. Ogden-on-Juro / The Silver District
Exploring this part of Nevermoor has been the most theorized thing since the book was announced, I think most folks have checked out the Silverborn Masterpost, I'm not sure if there's anything left for me to say lol.
3. Just searching “silver” and also referencing my Silverborn Masterpost, here are some notable references of silver in Wundersmith that I believe may possibly be clues for the meaning of “silverborn”:
— Silver as a connection to Celestials
—— There's other silver references in the other books that I like to tie to the Celestials, but Jupiter recieves a note "sealed with silver wax" from them in this book, which makes me think that the color could signal Celestial connection
— The Silver District
—— Again, I think everyone and their mom has theorized about any and all connection with the Silver District, so I will leave it at that
— The silver thread Witnesses see
—— Silver seems to relate to desire to be home or elsewhere in Wundersmith and the past / identity in Hollowpox..... if this doesn't sound like Mog's status in this book, idk what does. One might even say she was born feeling this way..... jk jk
If anyone has any of their own thoughts on what I share here or anything else on the info post, I'd love to hear it! And if folks are rereading and theorizing leading up to Silverborn, I'd love to hear any and every thought that you think I should add to the Silverborn Masterpost. Since it's almost like every theory folks have, I can't wait to look back on it once the book finally releases to see how much we did (and didn't) get right lol
I very much doubt there's much chance of this, but is there anyone out there who is a fan of both Doctor Who (and especially/possibly the Gallifrey audios) and the Nevermoor series? As I have many au thoughts but no-one to share/discuss them with.
