is it casual now?
cw: 2.7k wc, NSFT, f!reader, reader wears a dress + makeup, suggestive, vaginal fingering, you're absolutely certain the man you're seeing isn't the jealous type but perhaps his friend knows better...
“Wait, ‘Tsumu, stop moving”, you grumble as you take his face in your hands and gently rub your thumbs over his lower eyelids, “it’s all smudged, why’d you let your teammate do it?”.
“He said I’d look hot”, he pouts, leaning into your hold. You roll your eyes.
“It does suit you but next time please pick a waterproof eyeliner”.
As you keep carefully cleaning the stubborn black blotches, Atsumu’s eyes dart to a spot behind you. Whatever he sees, makes him snicker.
“I said don’t move”, you roughly keep his face in place when he attempts to peek over your shoulder even further.
“Your man’s upset”, he asserts, amusement dripping from every syllabe. You furrow your brows in confusion and follow his gaze for a second. Sure enough, you meet Shoyos eyes right away. He simply smiles back but there’s something simmering underneath it, something that makes the corners of his mouth a little tense.
While you’re happy to be at a fun housewarming party, Inunaki’s new apartment is a million degrees and you’ve never been more grateful for your choice of makeup. When he approached the little chatty group as you were being introduced to Alexandre, lips pursed and a desperate plea to fix his face, Atsumu looked like a mess.
“He’s not my man”, you mutter, thumb rubbing a little more hashly to remove the last remaining smudges.
“Does he know?”.
“We’re just seein’ each other. Plus, he’s not the jealous type”.
“Man”, Atsumu chuckles, “you really don’t know Shoyo”. He kinda gets off to the fact that even his friend doesn’t seem to know himself well enough, always far too busy being the nice guy. But that facade can sometimes waver, especially when others start relying a bit too much on how much of a nice dude he is.
You flick Atsumu’s forehead before letting go of his face, the petulant oww! making you laugh. And then you’re far too engrossed in the warmth rising from your neck to your cheeks as the familiar weight of a muscular arm suddenly settles over your shoulders, to notice your friend’s pleased smirk. Oh, Bokuto is so going to lose the bet.
“Hey, what are you guys doin’?”, Shoyo’s tone is light. Neither of you is big on PDA and frankly you’re not even a couple but the heat radiating from his body is so comforting, you can’t help but melt into his side a little. He pulls you closer, calloused fingertips faintly brushing against your neck.
“I needed some help with my eyeliner”, Atsumu flashes his usual million dollar smile.
“That so?”, Hinata’s eyes slightly crinkle at the corners, “I told Kotaro that brand was the wrong choice”.
“Thank god someone was here to fix it. I look good now, right?”, the question is explicitly directed at you and the implication of what he’s trying to do makes you giggle.
“You do, ‘Tsumu”.
“Why, thank you! Although not nearly as good as you, where’d ya even get that dress?”.
“I picked it”, Shoyo is still nonchalant, just a normal answer to a regular question, but his old teammate knows better. “I think Sakusa was looking for you”.
Atsumu tilts his head to the side, tongue in cheek. “Really?”.
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure he was wandering ‘round asking about you. Don’t let us keep you”, Hinata smiles, the hand holding a flute of champagne rises to vaguely indicate the kitchen.
The older Miya hums, reassuring, waves goodbye with the promise of finding you later. You watch him scurry away with a weird skip in his step and can’t help but laugh again: he hasn’t changed at all.
“Having fun?”, Shoyo lifts his arm from your shoulders but keeps a warm hand sprawled on your back.
“Yes”, you smile, “everyone’s really nice, thank you for inviting me”.
“I wouldn’t fully enjoy it without you here”, he beams, “Shion says you’re the only one who can get ‘Tsumu to shut up”.
A timid giggle, for his ears only at last. “You guys simply don’t try hard enough”.
Shoyo moves his hand down until it rests on the small of your back, big and comforting as his touch always is. The warmth seeping through the thin fabric of your dress makes something in your chest flutter with need.
“Come, you didn’t meet Akaashi yet”.
The next hour is a blur of introductions, pleasant conversations, familiar faces and new ones cordially welcoming you in a way that never once made you feel nervous about a setting where everyone already knows each other.
It’s the first time Shoyo’s officially asked if you wanted to hang out with his friends, the first time in a social setting where it’s not just the two of you. Does that mean he’s inclined to take the next step, maybe ask if the dating can become less casual? Something exclusive? Not that you’ve been seeing anyone else ever since meeting him. As if that could’ve been possible, even if you wanted to.
You remember that night out in Osaka, casually running into an old friend in a crowded bar, right by the counter. You couldn’t believe he was still sporting the same ridiculous bottle blond hair. After a few minutes of pleasantries Atsumu wasted no time in diverting his attention, the idea of your cute friend feeling left out a possibility his generous heart simply couldn’t handle. And so, as the two (much to your horror) hit it off, you were left awkwardly standing to the side, eyes scanning the packed tables to keep yourself busy until someone with a deep, kind voice invited you to sit next to him.
Hinata looked nothing short of gorgeous underneath the red-yellow lights, confident smile and charming, hazel eyes inviting as ever. You were lured in right away. You both briefly joked about having been brutally left out but he didn’t seem to mind really, not as he got to buy you a drink and ask questions about how you and Atsumu knew each other. Neither of you noticed when he left with your friend, far too absorbed in a conversation that effortlessly went on and on for what felt like five minutes but was instead an hour. It was like a dream: your thigh pressed to his, fingers closed around cold glasses casually brushing against each other.
When he offered to walk you home, you wouldn’t dream of refusing. You still remember how you’d both melt in giggles when the questions overlapped, your curiosity revolving around his career in a foreign country and interests fiercely rivaled by his eagerness to unravel every mystery you held. Asking if he felt like having another drink at yours was a temptation you couldn’t resist, but Shoyo politely refused right by your apartment, lopsided grin exuding a magnetism you felt desperately attracted to.
I’d like to take you out on a real date first.
You remember the smile stretching your lips, the panic that followed upon realizing that your phone was long forgotten in your friend’s purse. You remember Shoyo’s fingers gently wrapping around your wrist as he jotted down his number on your palm, murmuring something about the traditional way being more fun. It had been forever since a man had given you his number and, with that, the freedom to choose whether to text him or not. Hinata really felt different from the very start.
He’s just the guy you’ve been seeing for the past month and a half. The man you wish to be exclusive with, the mere idea of calling him your boyfriend stirring a storm of butterflies in your core.
Neither of you is big on PDA and yet his hands get increasingly bold, always decent but unable to stay away from your body. Shoyo’s always touching you somehow: a gentle hold on your hip, fingers brushing against the exposed skin of your arm, one hand on your back guiding you across the living room. You decide to get bold too. After he excitedly brings you a plate of puff pastries filled with chocolate cream, while he distractedly details the training program his team is going to have to resume in Brasil, your thumb reaches up to his mouth and gently skims over the corner of his lips, to collect the excess of chocolate cream. Shoyo stops mid sentence, lips parted as he watches you bring that same thumb to your mouth with a coy smile.
“Hey guys”, Atsumu’s voice startles you but not him, still so intently focused on you and nothing else, “Samu has a few questions about the next tournament, Sho, the sponsorship…”.
Hinata offers his friend a smile and his plate of pastries. “Let’s talk about this later, ‘Tsumu”.
The setter blinks, a knowing smile slowly finding its way onto his lips.
“Sure”, he then redirects his attention to you, “having a good time? Man, did I tell ya how pretty ya look tonight? Like, really p—”
For the first time throughout the evening, Shoyo’s hand daringly takes yours, palm warm and solid against your own. “Sorry, kinda busy at the moment. Don’t worry though, I’ll make sure to pass the message”, he grins warmly at his friend, who’s left nearly as dumbfounded as you when Hinata slips his fingers in between yours and pulls you away with him, deaf to whoever calls after him as you trail behind, passing by small groups of guests who look at you funny while you stumble all the way up the stars in a fit of laughter.
“What’s going on?”, although amused, you can barely keep up with his bold strides. He’s so quick you don’t quite understand how it happens when he bursts into the bathroom, rapidly closes the door and presses you up against it with the utmost urgency. Shoyo only relaxes when your noses are finally brushing, his broad hands finding their designated place on your hips, lightly pushing the skirt of your dress up in the process. You feel the relief in his exhale and chuckle, nudge the tip of his nose with yours.
“Hi”, he murmurs, the ghost of a smile teasing plush lips.
“Hi”, you whisper back, amused. Shoyo cocks his head a little, mouth almost touching yours but not quite, the scent of his cologne making your head spin.
“Missed you”.
“I’ve been here the whole time?”.
“Yeah”, he breathes, “but I couldn’t do this”, the kiss is tentative at first, sweet, but Shoyo soon can’t help himself. Not when you wrap your arms around his neck, one hand messily carding through his hair and tugging lightly at the strands. The way he likes it.
With a soft groan, he urges you to further part your lips with a needy skirt of the tongue along their seam and you’re happy to comply, allow him to deepen the kiss even if your lungs pose the risk of collapsing from the lack of oxygen. You can’t bring yourself to care as Shoyo roughly feels the back of your thighs and then squeezes, a silent demand. Once more, you yield easily and jump, a strong arm wraps around your middle as he catches you with close to no effort and a boyish grin, your legs tight around his waist as he shuffles to the marble countertop. You refuse to let him go even after he gently rests you on it, legs still wrapped around his hips as you take his face between your palms and kiss him some more, until Shoyo’s the one who has to pull back with a soft gasp for air.
“To what do I owe the honor?”, you ask, chest heaving, lips swollen and sleek with spit. He smiles, one thumb gently rubbing at the skin underneath your bottom lip, in a useless attempt at clearing up some of the drastically smudged lipstick.
“What? I can’t kiss my girl?”.
My girl. The way he can make those two simple words sound makes your stomach churn.
“Besides”, Shoyo starts sponging kisses over the juncture between your shoulder and neck and a content sigh slips past your lips, “Atsumu was being severely belittling. Pretty”, he clicks his tongue in disapproval, “you look breathtaking tonight”. As if to underline his point, rough palms slide up your exposed thighs and start rubbing comforting circles by your hips, the skirt of your dress pretty much completely lifted now as he starts tracing your neck with lips that are dangerously skilled.
“Shoyo”, it’s meant to be a warning but it comes out weaker. A plea.
“Can I show you? How beautiful I think you are?”, his voice is gravelly now, serious in its reverence. Traitorous desire licks at your core when his knuckles brush against the cotton of your panties, gut already tight in anticipation.
“What if, ah... someone comes in?”, the single ounce of reason left in your brain puts on a good fight but is inevitably flickering like a candle. Hinata disrupts your prudence the same way air flowing around a flame shatters its balance of oxygen supply.
“Then they’ll know too”, he sounds way too pleased with himself and you’re about to protest, you really are, but he’s suddenly mouthing at the spot below the corner of your jaw and it’s harsher than usual. When Shoyo sinks his teeth into your soft skin you gasp and subconsciously roll your hips against him, the twinge of pain soon soothed by the warmth of his tongue.
This is so unlike him. Not the passion, nor the eagerness, but the greed. It feels like he’s trying to consume you whole and you’re too drunk on the sensation to realize that maybe, just maybe, Atsumu had a point. Hinata’s not the jealous type but could it be that he might just be the possessive kind instead?
One of his fingers catches in the waistband of your underwear and you istinctively loosen the hold of your legs around his waist, parting them instead to open yourself up for him. It’s still not enough of an authorization in his book.
“Can I touch you?”, he whispers and his breath fans hot over the wet, sore spot of your neck.
“Please”, you breathe and he kisses you again with a satisfied hum, slow, deliberate. The coldness of a metal ring presses to your heat, already so slick with aching arousal, as two fingers easily slide through. It’s crazy, the effect his touch has on your body, every nerve ending catching fire as soon as he so much as grazes it. Did a man ever make you feel the same way? You don’t remember, you can hardly even think as you produce the softest moans against his mouth, hips rocking to meet the steady motion of his fingers, damp forehead pressing to yours just as desperately. The way he's panting only turns you on more.
When he abruptly removes his hand, way before you have the chance to come undone at the mercy of his skilled touch, the outright obscene wail you let out makes him chuckle.
“See?”, he murmurs, breathless, glossy fingers lifted high and carefully inspected in the brightly illuminated bathroom, much to your embarrassment. “Beautiful”.
Shoyo is not poking fun at you, quite the opposite: he’s dead serious. It’s his pure devotion that does it each time for you, the way he conveys how devastatingly attracted he is to you. Maybe it’s the need burning hot in your abdomen, the treacherous pleasure still pulsating in your limbs, but suddenly you’re eager to let him know too. Your fingers impulsively close around his wrist and stop his hand from reaching his mouth, head inching forward to capture his tanned fingers with your lips instead.
Shoyo’s pupils blow. The way his jaw tenses sends a shudder down your spine. It’s with a disbelieving groan that he presses down onto your tongue, warm and so wet around him as you carefully suck to the knuckle. His other hand catches your cheek, roughly cups it but is attentive in tilting your head back, to get a better view.
“Fuck”, he mutters, “how did I get so lucky?”.
He keeps his eyes on you as he easily slips out of your grip, with a wet pop. You want to tell him that you’re the lucky one, still in disbelief at how or why a man who looks like that, with a heart so big, is choosing to stay by your side. But Shoyo takes your face in his hands with a faint smile, gently angles it to inspect the prominent shadow forming underneath your jaw.
“This”, his thumb fondly strokes the tender skin, “is for them”. He kisses your lips once, then gently unclasps your fingers from his white button down as he gets down on both knees without ever breaking eye contact.
“This”, your breath catches when he further parts your knees, nibbles softly at your inner thigh before kissing it tenderly. The way he deeply breathes your scent in after tugging your panties aside sends a wave of fresh arousal rippling through your veins. “This is for me”.

hi tara! if the prompt already hasnt been asked for, can i request 86 "Please just leave." with mingyu? thank you <3333 reading all the drabbles now hahahah
silence, at its loudest
pairing: mingyu x reader | wc: 1.1k prompt: "Please just leave." au: chef!mingyu | warnings: angst! and tears a/n: TIYA HELLO! thank you for this req it was so sad to write but i hope you love <3
The apartment was suffocatingly quiet for a fight. No music playing in the background, no rain against the windows to soften the edges of your words—just silence, heavy and dense, pressing against your chest, making it hard to breathe. Mingyu stood in the center of the living room, his coat still damp from the storm outside, water dripping from the fabric, leaving a faint puddle at his feet. His tall frame seemed out of place here, as if it didn’t belong in this small space, weighed down by the tension between you both.
You were perched on the couch, arms crossed tightly, a defensive shield you knew wouldn’t protect you from the pain of this conversation. You wanted to retreat into the softness of the cushions, to sink away from him, but you couldn’t move. You couldn’t look away, even as your chest tightened and the cold of the room seeped deeper into your skin.
“I don’t even understand what I did wrong!” His voice cracked, frustration and confusion lacing his words. He ran a hand through his damp hair, as if trying to shake the tension out of his mind. “I—I’m here, aren’t I? Why is that never enough for you?”
Your breath hitched, your heart pounding in your throat, but you didn’t back down. You couldn’t. The words you’d been holding back for so long finally broke free, raw and cutting. “It’s not just about you being here, Mingyu. It’s when you decide to show up. You don’t get to keep ignoring me until I’ve hit my limit, then think you can fix everything by standing in my living room and saying you care.”
He took a step forward, but his eyes were desperate, pleading for some sign that you still cared, that there was something left of the person he used to know. “I don’t understand. I’ve been working—working to build something, something for us! And when I’m finally here, you still—”
“You’re always working, Mingyu!” Your voice cracked under the weight of the frustration that had been building for months, maybe longer. “When was the last time you didn’t have your phone on you? When was the last time you didn’t cancel on me because ‘the restaurant’s short-staffed,’ or you just need to finish one last thing?” Your breath came out in short, shaky bursts. “You didn’t even call me back when you knew it was my birthday. That’s what hurts the most.”
The words hit him like a blow, a quick intake of air following the realization. His expression faltered, the first cracks appearing in his armor. “I... I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to—”
“Yeah, you didn’t mean to,” you interrupted, voice soft but heavy with disappointment. “But it keeps happening, Mingyu. You keep doing it. You keep saying it’s not intentional, and then you walk through the door like everything’s fine, like you haven’t been neglecting me for weeks.”
He froze. The tension between you thickened, hanging in the air like smoke that wouldn’t dissipate. “I wasn’t ignoring you, okay? I was just trying to... I thought you’d understand. I thought you’d—”
“No, you didn’t think, Mingyu. You assumed,” you said, bitterness seeping into every syllable. “You assumed I’d be fine with it. You assumed I’d be okay with the empty promises, the unreturned messages, the way you disappear whenever things get hard. But I’m not fine. And I’m so tired of pretending that I am.”
His hands shook as he stepped toward you again, his voice breaking with a softness you hadn’t heard in months. “I’m sorry. I know I screwed up. But I’m here now. Let me make it right. I’ll... I’ll stay. I’ll be here for you. I’ll make things better.”
You shook your head, stepping back, distancing yourself both physically and emotionally. “That’s the problem, Mingyu. You think that just showing up, just being here in front of me, is enough to make everything better. But it’s not. It’s too late for that. I can’t just pretend like everything’s okay when it’s not.”
His eyes softened, and for a moment, the boy you fell for peeked through the cracks. The one who used to wait outside your office just to walk you home, who stayed up late to hear every mundane detail of your day, who never left you wondering where he was or if he cared. That version of him felt like a distant memory now, buried beneath layers of missed calls, broken promises, and unspoken words.
You could see it in his face—the hurt, the regret—but the distance between you both felt too wide to cross anymore. “Please... Don’t do this,” he whispered, stepping closer, his voice raw with emotion. “I need you. I need us.”
You swallowed, your throat tight with the weight of everything you wanted to say but couldn’t. “I can’t keep waiting for you to care when you decide it’s convenient for you, Mingyu. I can’t keep putting myself through this. I can’t keep pretending that it’s enough just because you’re here when it suits you.”
The silence stretched between you both, suffocating and heavy. His hand reached out, fingers trembling as if he wanted to hold you, to make things right, but he stopped himself. He knew, deep down, that it was too late. That the bridge between you had already collapsed, one small misstep at a time, until there was nothing left to salvage.
“Please just leave,” you said quietly, the words slipping from your lips like they didn’t even belong to you. They were heavy, final, like the last breath of something you once held dear.
His breath hitched, his chest tightening, but you didn’t look away. You couldn’t look away from the wreckage that was left between you both, and you knew that leaving now was the only way to preserve whatever was left of yourself.
He stood frozen, his hand still on the doorknob, his body shaking like he was fighting to say something, anything, to change the course of what was happening. But the words wouldn’t come. There was nothing left to say. The silence stretched until it became deafening.
With one last look, he stepped out, the door closing softly behind him. You stood there, motionless, listening to the sound of his footsteps fade away into the distance, swallowed by the rain and the night.
The apartment was cold now, emptier than it had ever been, the silence louder than any argument. And when you finally exhaled, it was like the breath you’d been holding for so long had escaped—too late, but finally out.
But the ache in your chest remained.

Time Ticking, Patience Thinning
Here’s another chapter that I hope you enjoy 🫶🏼 please lemme know if you do~ would make my day!
previous chapter
“What’s your name again-? I didn’t quite catch it the first time.”
When the boy opened his mouth to answer Agatha’s question, your gaze instinctively shifted to him. What happened next took you by surprise. As he began to speak, a shimmering sigil materialized above his lips, silencing his voice entirely. Your brows furrowed in confusion as your gaze slowly shifted to Agatha.
“Interesting,” that’s all she said.
"What do you mean?”
“Nothing to shout about,” she waved it off, giving you the hint of keeping that detail Teen a secret for now. “Anyway, I can’t promise I’ll remember your name.”
Her words caught you off guard, and it took everything in you not to burst into a cackle. Even so, a tiny puff of air escaped your nose, almost sounding like a snort. Agatha turned to you then, her composure always impeccable, infuriatingly so.
“We better get going now,” she brushed past you towards the front door, or rather, the spot where it used to be.
You smacked your lips at her nonchalance. If you weren’t in such a rush, you’d invade her personal space right there and now, capture her lips with yours to wipe off that knowing grin from her face.
Instead you only said, “I drive.”
She didn’t object to that. In fact, she preferred it when you were the one behind the wheel. It gave her the liberty to let her hands wander over your skin.
As you slid into your car, Teen's eyes sparkled with the hopeful anticipation of claiming the shotgun seat, but Agatha cut off his enthusiasm rather quickly.
“Be a good pet and sit in the back, will you?”
The boy shot you a sideway glance and you muttered a soft ‘sorry’ in his direction. Resigned, he slid into the backseat, clicked his seatbelt into place, and slouched in quiet defeat, arms crossed over his chest, reminding you of his young age.
“Maybe on our way back you two can switch-”
Agatha didn’t even let you finish, “Or maybe not,” she muttered sarcastically.
You sighed and started the car, with no clear destination in mind just yet, “very mature.”
She didn’t respond to that and simply hummed.
“So, where are we going?” Teen asked after a bunch of minutes.
You looked at him from the rearview mirror, “for starters we do need a Coven to walk the Road.”
He looked like a child on Christmas day, “you’re taking me to your Coven?”
With your eyes back on the road, you hummed, “Uhm, not exactly.”
“We never had one,” Agatha clarified, “I mean, not for long anyway.” You glanced at her briefly, wondering what she might say to the boy next. For a fleeting moment, you thought she might blurt out the entire truth right then and there. But it wouldn’t be like her, so you brushed the thought aside almost as quickly as it came to you.
“They annoyed me,” she said with a dramatic tut, “so one day I woke up, feeling inspired, and turned them into dust.”
You nearly veered into the opposite lane when she said that, your knuckles whitening on the steering wheel. It wasn’t the whole truth, but it wasn’t entirely a lie either. Yes, she had killed her Coven, of that there was no dispute. But what she left unsaid were the reasons that forced her hand, reasons that probably nobody knew, that’s why people were so quick to come up with the ‘witch killer’ nickname.
Teen looked terrified and uncertain what was to say next. And Agatha, being Agatha, looked quite pleased with it.
"That’s not exactly how it went,” you mumbled, giving away the hint that there was more to say, without actually saying it. You stole a glance at Agatha, her smile teasing, slightly amused by the familiarity of the situation. There you were, once more, doing your best to clean up her reputation. She told you many times you didn’t have to do it, but you couldn’t help it. “What I can say is this: they’ve blown the whole ‘witch killer’ thing way out of proportion. Agatha isn’t a bad person.”
Sure, you couldn’t deny the fact that Agatha killed witches, more than a few. But survival had a way of sharpening its edges, forcing impossible choices. She killed to save herself when no one else would. She killed to save Nicky. And later on… she killed to find a way to save you. It’s long overdue that people knew the truth, yet you knew it wasn’t your place, at least not only yours, to spill it.
When Rio sent the Furies after you, they took possession of your mind, twisting reality until it was unrecognizable to you. Their voices inside your heart hurt in the most inexplicable way, but you resisted, you vowed to. You never fully understood how your condition affected Agatha and Nicky, because whenever you had a fleeting moment of clarity, they chose to savor the time together rather than tell you how much it hurt them to see you like that. During that time, Agatha’s killings increased but you wouldn’t know. She didn’t need to kill witches to heal Nicky, though. The moment you used your magic to bring him back to life, the curse had been lifted and with it, Nicky’s illness. But your magic had come with an unexpected price to pay. Rio had warned you, but you refused to listen.
Noticing the way your eyes dimmed, Agatha slid her hand above your knee. She knew you too well to figure out exactly where your thoughts had gone. You were blaming yourself again. And she couldn’t let you do that.
“Don’t listen to her, Teen. She has the tendency of picturing me softer than I really am,” despite her serious tone, the way her hand squeezed your knee, told you a whole different story. All she wanted was for you to let go of your sense of guilt. “When it comes to survival, you’ll do whatever it takes— anything. I hope it never comes that far for you.”
Teen considered those words in silence. Your version compared to Agatha’s and it all just clicked. You were protecting her and she was protecting you. In that moment, he decided the rumors about the two of you didn’t matter, whether they were true or not. From now on, he would form his own picture of you both by living in the present and watching you do your thing.
“I think it’s sweet that you found each other and stuck around for all these years. Centuries, I presume. In a way you form a Coven of two–”
Your heart warmed up at Teen’s words. It was kind of cute to think of it that way. Your lips spread in a smile and so did Agatha’s, but more because she was amused by the whole thing he just said. Sure, she agreed with him- the fact that there was a bond between you two was true. An understatement, to be frank. You went through so many things together that the sole thought of parting ways for whatever reason felt now like a complete idiocy. You belonged to her like she belonged to you.
“Teen, I’m sorry to cut your enthusiasm, but she and I are in a relationship. That hardly makes us a Coven.”
“It makes us a family, though,” you pointed out.
You caught something flickering in Agatha’s eyes, a shimmer of emotion, maybe even vulnerability. Had it been just the two of you, she might have let it linger, but with the boy in the car, she felt uneasy. So she averted her eyes, focusing on the passing landscape to her right.
Noticing her hand slip away from your thigh, you pouted. Stubbornly, you reached out and placed it back where it belonged and when she turned, your lips curled up once again in a mischievous grin. Agatha snorted. That sass of yours—
“There’s no time to be namby-pamby, my love. I need you to be focused.”
You rolled your eyes, but chuckled, “Fine. Wouldn’t want you to lose your only chance at surviving against the Salem Seven.”
Agatha's expression twisted into an exaggerated version of your own, mimicking your tone as she repeated the words you just said. The effect was immediate and both you and Teen burst into laughter, incredulous on your part.
“I don’t sound like that!”
“You do,” she insisted, lips twitching in a smirk.
“I think she did a pretty good ‘you’”, Teen added, only fueling your mocking disbelief and Agatha’s enjoyment.
“Whatever, I’m done with you two.”
Your eyes squinted towards a peculiar building standing in the middle of nowhere to your left. You decided to try your luck there, took a rapid turn and parked right in front of the building, your instinct telling you there was a potential witch in there. The faded sign hanging above the door caught your eye, and you read it aloud: Madame Calderou’s Psychic Readings.
Agatha clasped her hands together, before rubbing them as if she was plotting something mischievous, “Right. Seems like we are here.”
Teen’s interest piqued once again, “You think there’s a real witch in there?”
Before you could respond, Agatha preceded you, “we shall see if she knows the witchy handshake first.”
“Oh my God– there’s a witchy handshake?”
You let out an exasperated sigh while Agatha giggled to herself. It was so easy to play with that boy. “Teen, she is pulling your leg. There’s no such thing as a witchy handshake. Honestly that would be so demeaning.”
“Such as flying brooms or pointy hats,” she agreed with you.
“I like flying brooms,” you retorted, as you three walked up towards the building.
Agatha draped an arm around your shoulders and pulled you into a squishy, however affectionate embrace, “Course you do,” she purred, “next you’ll be telling me you want to adopt a black cat as familiar.”
“I already have a familiar, thank you very much,” you pointed out, “a nice turtle that your bunny keeps bullying shamelessly.”
Agatha gasped dramatically, but you knew it was just an act, “he doesn’t! Take it back–”
“He does,” you chuckled. “And no, I won’t.”
“Uhm, we are drifting off here,” Teen interjected, with an awkward smile. He pointed at the building, making both you and Agatha shift your attention back to the reason why you were there. Gather a Coven of Witches.
“Right,” she took a mental note to return to the subject another time.
You nodded, stepping forward to open the door. Holding it wide, you gestured for Teen to go in first. He slipped inside without a word, rather excitedly actually, and as Agatha approached, she brushed past you, but not before her fingers slid into yours, her hand fitting perfectly in your grasp.
A small, teasing grin tugged at your lips. “I thought we didn’t have time for sappy moments.”
“Don’t be such a brat,” she whispered into your ear, in a cheeky tone, you didn’t miss. Couldn’t, if you tried.
*
“You’ve been under the influence of another, haven't you? Someone you hurt,” the clairvoyant started, her voice solemn as she took in Agatha’s blue eyes. The smirk of confidence that had tugged at Agatha’s lips faded as soon as she realized that Lilia Calderou wasn’t a fraud and knew who she was. You gave Agatha’s hand a tentative squeeze, a way to let her know you were there– that everything was okay. Her fingers tightened around yours in response.
“And she paid the price, too. They took your agency, but not hers,” she continued, her eyes landed on yours as you frowned uncomfortably. You never blamed Agatha for anything and you certainly wouldn’t start now just because a clairvoyant said so. “I feel it, your magic. It’s restless, volatile and quite dangerous. It should not exist.”
You leaned back in your chair and crossed your arms over your chest, “Here we go again,” you muttered, voice laced with dry sarcasm. Agatha snorted out a low chuckle in response to Lilia’s words, “You know nothing about her talent, so I’d suggest you to be quiet about it.” She never cared about what other witches thought about her, but whenever it came to you, she would completely lose her mind, if someone dared to judge who you were, basing their opinion on a prejudice as old as the world.
“So you’re a witch?” Teen’s question came in a hopeful tone.
“Divination witch is my guess,” you replied before Lilia could.
A mischievous grin tugged at Lilia’s lips. “If you intend to overstay your visit, I’ll have to charge you again.”
“Oh, I think you can grant us another ten minutes of your time,” Agatha groaned, “It’s not that there’s a line in here or something.”
In response, you saw Teen bow his head to wipe the grin off his face. You, on the other hand, made no effort to hide yours.
Annoyance was evident in her eyes, as she retorted, “whatever you want from me, I’m not interested,” Lilia stood up and without another word, she stood and disappeared behind the curtain at the back of her shop.
You and Agatha shared a knowing glance.
Teen appeared more disappointed than concerned, “Now what?”
“Now we persuade her.”
To preserve Agatha’s life, it was essential to gather some magic and you would have, no matter what. So you stood, eyes flashing with a newfound calm mingled with determination. Agatha noticed and smiled. She loved you for so many things and that behavior of yours, was just one of those characteristics that reminded her of why she chose to stick by your side so many years ago.
She gave you a nod of her head and followed you, as you took the lead. On the other side, you found yourself in what could loosely be called an apartment. A single room stretched before you. To the left stood a corner kitchen, its countertops cluttered with mismatched utensils, jars of herbs, the faint glimmer of copper pots, and a kettle she just turned on, probably to make herself some soothing tea.
“Join us,” Agatha insisted, as you and Teen kept looking around. “Honestly the way you live is kind of disappointing. You deserve more and better than whatever this place is…” Her gaze drifted to the far end of the room, where a mattress leaned against the wall, probably to save up space.
You wondered if there was a toilet hidden behind it. How low could a witch go?
The clairvoyant’s gaze flickered with hesitation, her lips pressed into a thin line as Agatha’s words sinked in. The shrill whistle of the kettle cut through the silence, drawing her attention and causing both you and Agatha to roll your eyes, when she spun around.
“Lilia–”, you couldn’t do this all day.
“I don’t know what you want me to say,” when she turned to face you, her eyes locked onto yours, sharp and intense. You could tell she was conflicted, exasperated even. “I won’t make the same mistake and fall into Agatha’s manipulative ways. They say you endured the Furies’ wrath because you did and yet here you are, still standing by her side. I don’t understand that.”
To say you were shocked was an understatement.
She had no idea what she was talking about– Agatha had nothing to do with the Furies. For some odd, infuriating reason, nobody knew a thing about Rio Vidal, instead: the true cause of everything. Instead, according to the stories, it had always been you and Agatha all along, so whatever bad thing came your way, Agatha bore the brunt of the blame. You were sick of that.
Teen was in shock too, he didn’t speak, but a part of him ached to defend both you and Agatha. He’d read about the Furies, knew the torment you endured for years, but not for a second had he ever believed Agatha was responsible for it. It just didn’t sit right with him. It couldn’t be. Not when Agatha looked at you the way she did, as if you held all the stars in the sky just for her. As if you were everything she had left.
Watching you from her peripheral vision, Agatha recognized clear signs of your struggle. Your jaw clenched tightly, your hands curled into fists at your sides, and your lips pressed into a thin line, “If you really think Agatha is somewhat responsible for what happened to me, which by the way is none of your business, maybe you lost your talent–”, your words hung in the air, adding to the already tense atmosphere lingering in the room.
Lilia looked somewhat self-conscious about what she said and how they affected you, yet she didn’t apologize. However, she held herself back from responding to your bitter remark about her.
Agatha’s lips stretched into a sad, tight smile the moment her fingers brushed against your forearm, and you failed to meet her eyes, “hey– don’t go there again. It’s not worth it,” she cooed, voice firm, yet veiled with the usual fondness she only reserved to you. You clenched your eyes shut for a moment, your magic sparkling at the tips of your fingers. Lilia was right about one thing: your talent could be dangerous especially when wielded by a witch emotionally distressed or simply pissed off, like you.
“You’re right,” you sighed, “Look, we are going to walk the Road. The Witches’ Road. And we need a divination witch, but the choice is yours. You can keep living your eternal life in this kind of shack you call home or try to go back on top. Be a witch again.”
Lilia’s mouth almost dropped, then. “The Road is a death wish.”
“I survived,” Agatha waved with a grin.
“And yet you’ve got no power.”
“That’s why I need to walk the Road, again. To restock.”
Lilia swallowed thickly. The offer was appealing and yet, she was uncertain. Agatha was, after all, known for having betrayed her entire Coven, at a very young age too. “How can I trust you won’t take my power at the earliest opportunity?”
Before Agatha could say anything, you stepped forward. “She won’t. I guarantee it for you.” Despite your growing distaste for Lilia at this moment, your principles held steadfast: no more witches would die because of Agatha. Or you. That was a promise you intended to keep. “You seem to know very well what Agatha’s capable of, but my question is, are you just as familiar with my talent?”
Lilia almost found it amusing that you’d question her knowledge about witches of your kind. “I do. At least to some extent,” she clarified, “I know what a necromancer witch can do. And I also know you’re not a killer,” she finished on a softer note.
“Agatha isn’t either,” you pointed out.
“Well, isn’t your loyalty sweet–”
Your lover took a step ahead, stretched out a hand, and moved you behind her, the moment your magic intensified around you and her, “Look, you’re right, I’ve got a reputation, I can’t help with that–” she trailed off, gesturing animatedly while doing so. “I don’t have time to persuade you into believing my intentions are genuine. Time’s running out and if you’re not willing to tag along, then fine. I’ll still Walk the Witches’ Road, restore my powers, and get my life back. Just remember that the path you’re currently on leads nowhere.”
Her words were convincing enough, but it was the small piece of paper she was holding that truly caught Lilia’s attention. You hadn’t noticed it before, nor were you sure where it had come from, but the realization struck quickly. A smirk tugged at your lips as everything suddenly fell in place.
That was an eviction notice.
“Even if I were to accept, you’d still need more witches.”
Agatha had a solution for that too. She grinned from ear to ear, “I was hoping you’d use your witchcraft to come up with a list of names. You can do that, can’t you?”
It was a rhetorical question, she knew she could.
Lilia’s lips stretched into a defiant smile, “give me that,” she said, snatching the piece of paper from Agatha’s hands, along with a pen that lay on the table. She didn’t even have to think about the names, they were already there, poised on the tip of her tongue or rather, the pen.
When she handed the paper back, both you and Agatha went as pale as a sheet. It couldn’t be. At the top were your name and Agatha’s, followed by Lilia Calderou, Jennifer Kale, Alice Wu Gulliver, and, finally, Rio Vidal.

Bucky gently wiping his girl’s never ending tears as she tries to apologize for trying to escape a third time, promising him she’ll never do it again only for him to chain her back up for the rest of the night but he knows that she’ll be his perfect little Stockholm princess in no time, especially when the winter soldier is there to help sort her out💞
fuckkkkkk.
warnings; fem!reader, kidnapping, early stages of stockholm syndrome, soft but manipulative bucky, mentions of the winter soldier coming out to play (😏), (perhaps opportunity for an au here!!!)
Your cheeks are glossy with the seemingly never ending wave of tears that portend their descent over your flushed cheeks. Your pulse thrums against your neck, skittering like a nervous doe when Bucky's thumb slides over the tender spot beneath your jaw. His amorous touch only serves to have you sobbing harder, tearing at the loose fitting tee that hangs around your neck as though the fabric is suffocating you.
"Shh, shh," Bucky coos, a thumb coasting the length of your waterline – a futile attempt to plug your tear ducts and slow the second onslaught of frantic tears. "Take it easy."
"I'm sorry," you wail. "I'm sorry. Shouldn't have done it."
Your breath comes in wheezing pants, voice petering out into a whisper as terror's icy grip clamps around your throat and you start to sob in earnest. Bucky sighs, scooping you up tight against his chest and pressing a chaste peck to your sweat-slick temple.
You thrash and cant away from the touch, your body poised tightly and waiting for the punishing blow that is no doubt on its way. His arms tighten over your frame, biceps bulging with the effort it's taking to keep you from squirming out of his grip.
"I'm not gonna hurt you, baby. Stop," he growls, his voice a harsh, grating bite against your fragile ears. Bucky's cadence had come out crueller than he would have liked, and he pets your hair in an effort to dissuade you from panicking beneath his firm grasp.
"Please, I won't do it again. You have to believe me, I'll never do it again," you snivel, bowing your head low until your features are obscured.
"You said that last time, sweetheart," he murmurs. "You can't keep doin' this. I don't know what I'd do without you."
Bile crawls up your throat, hot and fast. Your chest burns.
"I feel sick."
"I know." He pulls the hair back from your balmy cheeks as you start to retch and heave, sobs still clawing from your chest all the while. You know what comes next, as does he.
"Please don't- don't put me down there. Please, I'm sorry."
"Do you need me to let Winter out, hm? You want him to take you down there, or me?"
You go stock still. Everything slows, Bucky's voice sticking to your ears like syrup. "No, no. I'll be good, I'm sorry," you croak, lips filling with air as you suppress another retch.
The mere mention of the soldier is enough to halt every ounce of defiance in your body. Winter is far less forgiving than Bucky, and you're not willing to take your chances.
Not tonight.
"There's my good girl," he murmurs, smearing a sticky kiss along your cheekbone. "You stay down there tonight and be good for me, and we'll do something nice tomorrow, how about that?" he bargains. "I'll let you pick a movie to watch, and you can sleep in bed with me for as long as you want, yeah?"
You sag like dead weight against Bucky's chest, seeping up the warmth of the skin-on-skin contact while you still have the chance. You're in for a very long - very cold - night.
"Please don't do this to me," you whisper. Desperation clings to your every syllable, weighs down every word you speak until your voice is thick with tears.
"You know I have to, sweetheart."
His kindness makes it worse, you think. If he was cruel, if he didn't show you this... softness, maybe you could find it in yourself to hate him.
But the way he lets you cling to him, kisses the top of your head as he delivers your punishment, murmuring soft, adoring affirmations all the while... You just can't.
And you know when he lets you out in the morning, you'll be good for him. You'll accept him, in his entirety. You'll let him kiss you and tuck you into his side like you've always been there. You'll let him love you.
Maybe you can learn to love him, too.
Bucky knows you can. He just has to give it time.

RELATIVES
Part 2
My hand was slightly clammy as I walked towards the door of where the girls are when I saw Kyra out of the corner of my eye, walking in a hallway. My excitement and energy got the better of me when I ran toward her and jumped on her back, Caitlin foord on her left and Victoria pelova on her right both looked at me in shock, I hadn't spoke to them before but I suppose they know who I am.
"IZ?!?! OMG" Kyra shouts spinning your round on her back before darting forward, you bouncing up and down. "BETHHH LOOOK" Kyra shouts down the hallway finally letting you down quickly engulfed in Beth's arms within a few mins girls had come over giving you hugs or handshakes saying hello and welcoming you. Then you saw her.
Leah stood in the corner of the snack bar keeping her focus on the group huddle round you, your gaze trying to see over then people to her. You break free Beth walks behind you as you sit on the sofa.
The rest of the training you stay clear of Leah, the interaction with her wouldn't have been good on the first day mabey tomorrow you said to yourself. Heading home to your new apartment ordering some food from macdonalds not really bothered to work out the cooker -too tired.
That night when you were chilling trying to find something to watch that won't bore you too much, you recieved a text from alessia asking if I needed anything round or if there's anything I need unpacked to which I don't but I think I'd like some company. The moving has been a lot and being alone with no family for a good while now meaning the travel and things inbetween you do alone, you lived with your older teammates before as coach thought it was best.
Alessia arrived bringing Beth with her, you let them in apologising for the boxes near the wall. You and the girls spent a while of catching up talking about how the travel was and how the training schedule is at Arsenal.
"We better get going soon, what did you think of everyone?" Beth asked as she took a bite of the chocolate brownie tray you had bought
"Yeah I like everyone they seem dead chill" you figet with the skin on your finger as stand up while they chat getting bored of the sitting.
"Have you met Leah before?, you didn't seem to talk ,niether did she" alessia points out. As you stand you house you knee bouncing.
"Yeah no, just met her before and we arnt very let's say close anymore" you say back to alessia putting hands in your tracksuit bottom pockets and walking a little but not too much trying to make it not noticeable.
"Sorry didn't want to make you uncomfortable" alessia started with a smile so much for not noticeable.
"Um no,no it's just." You take a break contemplating "Please don't say this to anybody I might have adhd the pysio at Washington noticed but I never got tested" you said the reason you didn't was , well, you didn't want to be alone while getting tested you were scared.
"Ohhh it's alright, it's totally fine we won't judge and promise we won't say anything unless you do alright" Beth smiled as they both stood up to leave. I showed them out saying goodnight and moving back to the living room of the apartment cleaning the bowls and sitting down.
Soon you found yourself going on a late night walk and by late night you ment about 2 in the morning you needed to release some energy you could sleep, you could sit on the sofa so it was the last resort. Before returning home you added some of the girls back posting a photo on your insta of the night and empty streets.
An-don't be timid to give feed back or if u want anything in it :)

It had been a rough week for you and it was getting a lot. On Monday you had completely forgotten a friend’s birthday, which made her mad and yesterday you had found a picture of your boyfriend kissing another girl. It had been on your mind and you wanted to speak to Chris about it, but you were scared. You were scared for his reaction, because what if it was fake? Would he get mad at you?
Chris had invited you to a party, which he hosted with his 2 brothers Nick and Matt. It was all fun and games until you really felt the need to break down. You tried to hold it back, but the tears just started to stream down your face. Chris noticed and immediately rushed over to you.
“I-i dont know why i’m crying.. it’s just hormones i guess.” You said as your hands were slightly starting to shake. “No no, dont even start with me,” Chris protested. He knew about your hormones, and how they were a rollercoaster, but you would normally tell him when you were upset, and he definitely would still be able to help. He gently tilted your chin, forcing you to look at him. “I know its more than that. You’ve been acting off all day, and you ain't fooling me, so tell me what's actually goin' on,” he said, voice gentle but firm.
You take a deep breath before speaking. “I saw a photo of you kissing another woman..”
Chris felt like the world just crumbled underneath him. He was speechless, staring at you. He didnt know what to say, he didnt even know how he could even begin to explain himself when all he could focus on was how much he hurt you. He was sure he didn’t do anything.
“Is it true?” You ask, looking up into his big blue eyes. Chris hated this, knowing you’d thought he would ever cheat on you. He would die before he did, he would die before he’d even look at someone else. “No ma, it’s not true! I swear it’s not..” he tried to keep his voice steady, tried to calm the panic in his own racing heart. It was hurting him hearing how broken you sounded.
“..I swear to you, i would never, EVER cheat on you. I would never hurt you like that. You’re my everything, my person, you’re the only one for me. You’re the only one i’ll ever need. Please, please believe me, i am NOT cheating, i don’t have, and i don’t want anyone else, okay?” He spoke to you softly, pleading and desperate. He didnt want you to doubt him, he wanted, needed you to understand him. He’d do anything.
He searched your eyes, searching for even a hint of belief. Just.. any indication that you knew he wasn’t lying. He was so serious, his heart hurting more and more the longer the silence went on, his hands gently cupping your face, his breath coming out shaky, “Please, believe me.”
“I believe you, baby.. im sorry.. i was stupid enough to believe those pictures online..”
Chris let out a shaky sigh of relief, feeling a small sense of weight leave his chest as you said that. Thank god. He gently pulled you into his chest, holding you tightly against him. He held his breath, closing his eyes. He was so relieved. “It’s okay, it’s okay,” he said gently, his voice still a little shaky as he rocked you slowly, “You weren’t stupid for being hurt, i get it, but i promise you now, those pictures are a bunch of bullshit.”
He slowly calmed down, his body losing the tension it held ever since you’d dropped that bomb on him. He gently pulled away, looking down at you and seeing the tears on your face, “No more tears, alright?” He said softly, swiping a thumb underneath your eye, “There’s no need for them.” He leaned down, placing a kiss on your forehead.
“I love you, ma.”
“I love you too, Chris.”

𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐁𝐈𝐃𝐃𝐄𝐍 & 𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐓 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄; 𝙺𝙴𝚈𝚆𝙾𝚁𝙳 𝚂𝙴𝙰𝚁𝙲𝙷𝙴𝚂 𝙵𝚁𝙾𝙼 '𝙶𝙾𝙾𝙳𝚁𝙴𝙰𝙳𝚂'.
change pronouns, tenses and other details as deemed necessary. & please specify muse when sending to a mumu.
I am a secret. That is all I will ever be.
If you cannot hold me in your arms, then hold my memory in high regard.
Do people always fall in love with things they can't have?
Everybody wants their own little place in the world. And maybe mine is here, loving you from a distance.
If I give in to my desires, I'll have to deal with the consequences of stupid actions.
Our love defies logic and reason, a cosmic connection that words cannot fully capture.
Love is rarely a choice.
I swore that I wouldn't kiss you again.
I kept hoping that if I just ran far enough, eventually I’d figure out a way to stop loving you.
You said you didn't want this. Were you lying?
Love is love, even if it is illicit; like light remains light even in the darkness.
I need to stop running back to you in my mind all the time.
I do not lack the courage to tell you how I feel. What I fear is how you will react to it.
If I cannot be in your life, then at least let me live in your heart.
It is terrifying to love someone who is forbidden to you, terrifying to feel something you can never speak of.
If you come away with me, I can promise you pain and disgrace... but I will love you like no other can.
We were doomed from the start. A lost cause. A losing battle.
Everything between us is destined to become a mere memory
Do you want the truth? The truth is, I would fuck you right here and now. Right on this fuking table, but I can't!
I think perhaps I will always hold a candle for you – even until it burns my hand.
I will never let you go, do you hear me? No matter how long it takes, I will keep you safe. And I will find a way for us to be together.

“When you look at me like that my love, I don’t think I could do anything other than give in to you" - Elrond (Rings of Power) x Fem Reader
Y/n reunites with Elrond and explains that she doesn't want to be left behind when he goes on his journeys anymore.
Fluff
Word Count: 817
My requests are always open, so feel free to message me if you have an idea! I'll write for any character from The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, or The Rings of Power!
All the trees surrounding the city of Lindon had turned into a series of warm orange and yellow hues. Fortunate were one’s eyes when the autumnal sun danced upon their leaves, for it seemed as if they were sparkling, making the already ethereal location even more stunning.
Y/n’s long blue velvet dress swept across the floor as she walked on the perfectly lain cobblestone path, her footsteps echoing through the open halls. Her eyes flickered from tree to tree, feeling a sense of immense happiness knowing she was once again visiting the place she loved so dearly. Delicately, she held a letter from her love, comforted by the knowledge that she would soon be in his arms.
Her elven ears slightly perked when she heard footsteps growing closer from behind. A small smile tugged at the corner of her lips when she recognized that the steps were familiar, belonging to none other than Elrond.
“My love,” Elrond spoke, his soft voice breaking the near-silent atmosphere of the hall.
Swiftly he spun her around by the waist until her body was delicately pressed up against his. Y/n stood there momentarily, staring into his eyes, taking in all his gorgeous features before saying, “It feels like a lifetime since I last laid eyes on you.”
Elrond laughed slightly before responding, “I agree, a few months feels more like a year when I’m away from you,” making her blush.
“Promise me, you’ll never leave me again. Life is so mundane without you, I practically died of boredom.” Y/n joked, causing the elf to smirk at her.
Tucking a strand of her long hair behind her ear, he said, “I’ll try my best, but you know good and well that I can’t promise something like that,” with a laugh. “Middle Earth always has something in store for me that I cannot prepare for.”
“I can’t argue with that,” she replied, “But maybe Middle Earth will be kind enough to let us make up for the time that we have lost with each other.”
“I can only hope,” Elrond spoke, taking one of his fingers and delicately placing it under Y/n’s chin, before angling her face up so their lips could meet.
“Or…,” she began, wrapping her arms around the elf’s neck, “Perhaps next time I could join you.”
A mix of surprise and concern appeared on his face, this being the first time that Y/n had ever asked to join him on one of his missions. At the same time, he couldn’t help but imagine how much more enjoyable it would be for him if the love of his life accompanied him.
“I certainly wouldn’t mind that, but you must know that most places I travel to are riddled with danger. I’m not sure if I’d be able to keep you safe,” he replied, worry prominent behind his voice.
“Darling, I have immense faith in your abilities to protect me, quite frankly, I feel safer in your arms than here,” she spoke, looking up at Elrond through her eyelashes.
Y/n had grown tired of the long days and even longer nights spent without him in various elven cities, for she never felt at home unless she was by Elrond’s side. She was willing to follow him anywhere if it meant she’d be by his side.
“When you look at me like that my love, I don’t think I could do anything other than give in to you,” he said turning away for a moment to hide the rosy blush creeping onto his face.
“I’m well aware,” she replied taking one of her hands and gently caressing the side of his face, “Does that mean that I could go with you next time?”
“Yes… but on one condition,” Elrond responded grabbing her hand from his face and placing a delicate kiss on it.
“I’d do anything,” Y/n whispered hastily, eagerly wanting to know the condition that he had thought out.
“Would you marry me?” he asked, his grey eyes softening and brimming with pure love.
Y/n’s jaw dropped slightly at his question, before she immediately jumped into Elrond’s arms, letting him spin her around in celebration. When he finally set her down, she gently grabbed both sides of his face and brought his lips to hers, planting a kiss full of pure excitement.
“I’m going to take that as a yes,” Elrond spoke, with a smile pulling at both corners of his mouth.
“It’s absolutely a yes, a thousand times yes!” she exclaimed before the elf pulled a beautiful silver ring from his pocket, adorned with the most stunning moonstone that Y/n had ever seen.
She extended her hand and watched Elrond slide it onto her index finger, immense joy running rampant through her body, making it feel like she was floating.
“I can’t wait for our next journey together,” Elrond softly stated, wrapping his arms around Y/n in a loving hug.

G: YOU MOTHER FUCKER
The goat punched the other again. They were already bloody and bruised from fighting. Lambert backed, coughing up the blood.
G: What the FUCK were you thinking!? They gave you a purpose, a new start at life, you ungrateful piece of SHIT!
L: I know! And I also know that it would all end when they no longer needed us or found someone stupider to their work!
G: Bullshit. They promised-
L: PROMISED? Pfft ha-! Hahahaha!
Lambert laughed. They were laughing at the stupidity of the situation. Other one gritted their teeth, clenching their blood stained fists.
L: And you believed that? What did they promise you huh?
G: None of your business! Shamura proposed stuff they never did to other people! Once I get your head to him for what you did to them, to me, I'll have everything I want!
Goat tried to punch him again. This time, his wrist was caught by Lambert painfully, twisted and forced to get on the ground.
G: Gah-!
L: What did they promise you? Your safety? No longer having to worry about being hunted down? Or is the promise of giving you the crown once their times up? Come on... We're better than this!
The lamb said harshly. They knew every one of those lies. They weren't dumb.
L: You think someone as knowledgeable as Shamura doesn't know how to manipulate people like you? People like us? They are good at taking from the vulnerable, giving empty hopes with eye catching promises.
G: Fuck you.
Lambert let go of his wrist and took a few steps back. Goat looked at them curious and judgmentally
G: I don't believe you. You yourself are a manipulator. How the hell did you convince the red crown to lend you power?
L: I didn't... He gave it to me himself. But I'm not trying to convince you anyway. You don't have to believe me, follow me, help me... But to think I'd let you come in here and kill me is just ridiculous.
G: So what now? Do you expect me to just stop coming after you after what you did? People know me as someone that never let their prey ran off, can't risk that reputation.
L: No, I'm expecting anything from you. (It's a waste of time anyway) All I need is for you to think about this, make a choice and understand. Shamura is not someone you can trust.
G: I don't need to understand. Nor do I care if you can or not trust Shamura. In this world, people like you and me either do as told or become dinner. And, you're the main dinner they crave. Don't be stupid, Lambert.
L: (That's quite poetic actually) If Shamura wants to kill me, they can come and try for themselves, no need to get YOU involved. Tho, you said it yourself that you're doing this to be not on their bad side. If you're tired of being a vessel for their needs, this isn't the way to freedom... You will, NEVER get that by simply doing what they want.
G: Freedom? Ha! It's rich coming from you. Like you did any better! You betrayed Shamura for what? To be that damned cat's lap dog, to sit when says and stand when he wants. (Or maybe things I don't want to mentally imagine) You, put all your self respect, dignity and name aside to get toyed around by someone like him. Is this what you call "freedom"?
Goat walked towards them, making Lambert take a few steps back.
G: That's not freedom. Or maybe you want that. Maybe you make him think that he's in control to betray him later on. He was being nice after all. You love hurting the ones that help you the most, right?
L: Now you're just saying random words What? Is this some kind of way to make me feel bad? If there's a lap dog here, it's you. You don't get to act like you didn't do what ANYONE asked of you just to feel like you accomplished something worth mentioning! You can continue to obey Shamura and beg them to keep you afterwards but be aware that they'll put you back where they found you! I'm gonna do what I need to do to live my way, either with you or without you! So don't- ACK!
The goat launched at them, their hands around the other's throat. Goat didn't like those words, at all. The lamb choked, scratching the hands on their throat. Goat was angry, shaking as they watched the other struggle.
G: You think you can just backstab everyone who trusts you and don't face the consequences of it!? Like how you thought I'd forgive you, after you left me in that prison!? They caught you and I did everything to help you! And I waited, waited and waited for MONTHS! IS THAT YOUR FREEDOM!? You... Selfish... Ignorant... BASTARD!
Their heartbeat filled their ears, anger consuming the goat. The blood dripping from their nose hit Lambert's wool, joining the other's own stains.
G: You left me to die. And you dare to criticize what I do to survive!? If it wasn't for me, you'd be devoured whole in a feast! We did everything together! We helped each other out! But you!? It's only you! I trusted you!
Lambert stopped his struggle, instead looking up to their... friend. Maybe one of the worst things they've done. The only thing they regretted so far.
G: What did I ever do to you!?
The goat punched them again and again. But when they got no response, they let go
G: Answer me. Don't you have a snarky come back to that? Can't even deny that you are the worst fucking friend?
L: ...
They sat up, their lip busted and nose broken. The tension and the eye contact was too uncomfortable.
L: You're right. I did that. I am, a bad friend.
G: ...
L: You're not just here because of Shamura are you? You don't care about what they want or what they told you at all.
G: Yeah. I'm here because you're a piece of shit, a backstabbing manipulator and you owe me. Did you even tried to-
L: I did... I tried to help you out.
Upcoming tears already burned his eyes. Lambert took a deep breath.
L: Maybe I didn't try hard enough. I-I know it's no excuse but, but I tried... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry... I know, I know it means so little to you and I know you don't want to hear me say it. With all this shit going on... When Shamura started to go out their way and what happened between me and the king... The things I felt and couldn't even understand at the Festival... What I had to do to prove myself, my worth and all the thoughts about not being good enough... for anyone. These aren't excuses. They shouldn't be... I was supposed to be there for you. But please believe me when I say this, I never wanted to hurt you. And if I loose you now, or already did, I would never forgive myself for making you feel like I didn't care...
Lambert was crying when he finished talking. They couldn't face the goat anymore. Years of friendship and they ruined it. The goat took a step forward. And another. Lambert assumed they'd left but...
G: (You crybaby)
The goat hugged them. So they hugged back. It was quiet for a moment... The the goat backed away.
G: If I knew you were this much of a loser... But hey. Neither of us are made in heaven. We're both shitty. And I rather be shitty with you.
L: You...
G: I'm still angry and fuck you, you know.
They smiled at Lambert, then sighed.
G: But who else do we have other than each other? So stop crying! (It makes you look uglier than you already are.) I'll forgive you for a while, aight? Cuz I know you'd miss me
L: Fuck you... Heh...
G: Same to you. So-!
The goat pulled the lamb to their feet
G: When are we killing this giant spider?
Awwww this is adorable!
Thank you for writing this it actually shows me how much I have or haven't shared about my story so far and gosh its a lot djkfllf
And gosh Lambert just taking the punches from Goat, ouch
I love the back and forth the two have here and Goat being promised stuff from Shamura is a nice touch!
Goat calling Lambert a crybaby is so cute xD and I adore the hug ❤️

Chapter 8: Beach Day
“You’ve been sitting out there for days. Are you ever going to give up?”
Rafe stares at sheriff Shoupe as he settles down in the seat in front of his desk. “Not until you tell me why the case was dropped. Or how about the fact you switch it over to random deputies who can’t seem to do their fucking job.” Shoupe shakes his head and pushes his chair closer to the desk. Resting an arm on the desk, the other points at the younger man. “First of all that language and tone can leave if you want to talk. Second, it was dropped due to insufficient evidence.”
Rafe scoffs, crossing his arms as he glares at Shoupe. The walls of his office seem to get smaller as they just stare at each other. “Are we going to cut the bullshit or are you going to keep lying to me?” The sheriff looks out the window to watch the deputies as they pass by. One of them is the deputy that decided it was a good idea to let Delia go. “I don’t need to explain how I run this department to you. If they said there was no evidence then there wasn’t any.” Soupe gets up from his seat rounding the corner to sit on the desk.
“Listen Rafe, you’ve come a long way from the kid I used to know. I’m glad you are passionate about that young girl and her kid. But you can’t just come in here demanding things.” There’s a condescending look to him. Like there was no room to argue. Guess Shoupe forgot who he was talking to. “You're telling me you never took a bribe?” The older man sits up a bit more instead of leaning back. “Never looked the other way when someone paid you a high price? Because if I remember properly you were never above taking the cash prize.”
Shoupe has a dumbfounded look now, not expecting the conversation to turn to this. “Look, I wasn't in charge of the switch. I gave Hemmings all of that week's cases to assign, he’s the only one that could change it.” He could tell that Rafe wasn’t convinced. The way his head was tilted at him gave it away. “I’ll make you this deal. I can look into it, but I can’t promise you anything.” Rafe stands up looking at the linoleum tiles. “I hope that you do Sheriff.” He pats Shoupe’s shoulder as he moves closer to the door.
With one hand on the door knob he looks back at the older man. “Oh by the way, if you take too long my lawyer will be filing a case against the department. You’ll have to spend a lot of money trying to defend yourselves because I’ll make sure he drags it out as long as he can.” He leaves the office heading for the front entrance just to hear Shoupe curse to himself.
“Fucking Cameron’s.”
Rafe makes his way to his truck, glancing at the time when he gets in. It's about to hit nine so he knows that you are already up. You’ve decided to give yourself the weekends off and since Jo wanted extra money she’s been holding down shop. This means that you are most likely at home enjoying the morning. His tires screech on the gravel as he reaches your house. He jogs up to the door grabbing the keys out of his pocket to unlock the door. The inside was empty but your car was still in the drive-way.
As his steps echo in the hallway he can hear giggles coming from your room. He opens the door to see Vi running around as you watch her from the bed. “Rafe!” The little girl screams when she sees him. Her little legs run over to him, giving him a hug and talking his ear off about nothing really. Rafe just laughs along, commenting on snip-its as he throws himself on the bed. “Good morning pretty flower girl.” You giggle as you lean over to give him a kiss. “Good morning handsome space boy.” As the two of you have your little moment, Vi wiggles free from his arms.
“Bird-day”
“What is she talking about?” Rafe asks as he looks at the little girl jumping on the bed.You giggle shoving your face into the pillows. “Jo and June keep talking about her birthday. She’s just excited about it.” Rafe catches her as she jumps at him and squeezes her between the two of you. “Thought that was next month.” He questions as he tickles her. Uncovering your face you peck her cheeks making her laugh more. “It is, but they were excited about it. She’s the baby of the family so it's a big deal.”
“Course it is. Our baby girl is turning three.” You don’t think he understands how much it means to you when he says things like that. Seeing him love Vi the way you do is heartwarming. You never thought you would have this, someone who cares for her and you. Everyone always says when you are a single mom no one will want to play dad. But here he was willing to do it without a complaint. A part of you even questions if your memories from the first two years of her life were a nightmare. As if this was your life the whole time with Rafe and Vi. Then you have the constant reminder when you see Theo.
Life has been messy since the case against Delia was dropped. Theo has made it his mission to have her there at every visitation. The judge tried to keep the arrangement the same but with the police dropping everything there was nothing he could do. Judge Argent seemed to feel bad for you extending an apology for the ruling. The days that followed felt like torture. You kept blaming yourself for it all, believing if you did more maybe this wouldn’t have happened.
Your phone alarm goes off letting you know that it's time to get ready. Since Jo is taking up shifts at the shop you now have to bring Vi to visitations. Rafe helps you get Vi ready and keeps her entertained as you do as well. Rafe started to go along with you as an extra form of back up since Delia now tags along. He drives you over to the beach where Theo wanted to meet. The weather is still warm so it’s probably the last chance she’ll get to play in the sand. The Moana soundtrack blasts through the speakers.
“Moana, make way make way.” Rafe screeches out as he reaches back to tickle Vi. You and her giggle at his antics. The whole summer Vi made you both watch it a million times and play the soundtrack at any given time. It was her second favorite movie. You all sing along to the music jamming out as Rafe pulls into the parking lot. He just so happens to park a few spots down from Theo and Delia. The two of them watch as the three of you sing to the music. When they see you get out of the car, they make their way to meet you.
“About time you showed up. You’re ten minutes late.” Theo critiques as he walks over, Delia follows along behind him. “There was traffic. We can just stay for another ten minutes to make up for it.” The service worker for your case is standing at the entrance watching you all interact. “You should know by now that you need to leave a little earlier. I’m sure they would love to know you are bringing her late. Wouldn’t look too good for you.” Theo keeps going on talking to air as you get Vi out of the car. She clings onto you as you face her towards the other couple. “Hi Violet. Daddy missed you.” He extends his arms waiting for the little girl to greet him but all she says is hi.
Theo glares at you, ready to blame you for her reaction. “Is everyone ready?” Jane, the social worker for your case, walks up. Theo’s whole demeanor changes once he sees her. “Yes, just catching up on how the little one is doing.” He walks over grabbing Vi from your arms and placing her in his arms. He goes to walk towards the beach but Vi turns to look at you over his shoulder. Her eyes start to water and a wail rips through her throat. You are all still at the noise and instinctively you go over to take her back. “I could have handled it, she’s fine.”
“She’s crying for a reason not because she thinks it’s fun. Probably thought we were the ones taking her to the beach.” Rafe tries to reason as he rubs Vi’s back. One of her chubby hands grabs at his shirt as her tear streaked face looks up at him. “Rafe.” She sniffles out. He puts the bag he had down and picks her up, letting her hide in his neck. “Well I’m here dad, there’s no reason she should be acting like this.” He catches his tone in the end, eying Jane who watches everything play out. “Prim I never took you as a parent alienation type. I just want to be there for my daughter.”
He’s trying to play the victim once again. Pulling out the old dad who was refused to be in his kids life act. Forcing yourself from not rolling your eyes, you pick up the bag and urge Rafe to walk. “Sorry if that’s how you feel but I never forced you out, you chose that. You can’t honestly expect her to warm up when she is just now getting to know you.” His nostrils flare as he takes a hold of Delia’s hand. “We should just go get set up.” Delia suggests and you all agree. Jane walks behind all of you while Theo and Delia are in the front. “Bet she warmed up to Rafe quickly.” Theo mumbles to Delia.
You and Rafe share a look not believing he’s really going on about this. “Just drop it. At least she’s loved.” Theo whips his head towards her and pulls her closer. “I don’t need him caring about her. He’s not her dad, I am. Don’t defend him again, got it?” Delia just nods her head and keeps walking. You stare at the back of her head as you follow them to a part of the sand they want to set up. You wonder if she’s experiencing what you did when you were with him. He’s still the same manipulative person he was before. Maybe he’s the same in all ways.
“You could make this easier on everyone.” Lost in thought you didn’t realize Delia had come up to you. “I’m sorry?” She just sighs and points back. “Sure you didn’t tell him, that was a choice but what could we do. But now you’re making up lies just to keep him away. Think about Violet.” Okay so maybe she doesn’t really know who Theo is. You look at Rafe who’s playing in the Sand with Vi. He has a big smile on his face hanging onto everything she says. If you think back to the visitation you’ve been to you can’t recall Theo looking like that.
“I am. You know a fairytale version of Theo but I know the real him. That’s not something I want around my daughter.” Not wanting to argue with her, you walk over to Rafe and Vi. “Hey pretty girl.” You smile at him and lean over to give him a kiss. Crouching down you pick up a shell that was buried in the sand. Vi grabs it and adds it to the little bucket Rafe is holding. “Come on sweetie. Someone is waiting for you.” This time Vi went over to Theo without crying which was a big win. As much as you would like for him to leave, you want visitations to go smoothly so the court knows you are trying. You want him to lose this case because they saw through him not by playing dirty.
As Jane stays with them, you and Rafe set up a sheet a few feet away so you are close but far enough to not be distracting. “Gotta surprise for you.” Rafe grins as he backs away from your set up. “Yeah? What would that be star boy?” Shrugging Rafe holds up a finger towards you. “Wait here I’ll be right back.” He runs off to what you think is the car. While he’s gone you go through the bag and take out the sunscreen to apply some to yourself. Realizing you forgot to remind Theo about it, you pull out your phone to tell him when to reapply it. Looking over to where they are, you see him pick up his phone before throwing it down after reading your text. Guess he just won't answer you.
You grab one of the books you brought with you and read a page when Rafe comes back. When you look to the right as he gets closer you can see a basket in his hand. “What’s that?” You point your head to the wooden basket he places in front of you. He kneels on the sheet, crawling over to you before kissing your lips. “Just thought I could treat my girl to something nice. Got your favorites.” Your cheeks redden at ‘my girl’ still getting used to the praise. The waves crash against the shore as he shows you the snacks that he bought for you. You two snack on the chocolates and fruits that he packed.
“So where were you this morning? I woke up and you were gone.” He plops a strawberry in his mouth, licking off the juices from his fingers as he looks at you. “Had a meeting that I couldn’t miss. Been getting the run around and had enough.” Nonchalantly he pulls you into his chest grabbing the book next to you. The front of the book reads Little Women. “What’s this about?” He reads the back as you explain the story to him. Opening up the book he finds your bookmarked page. His other arm grabs the blanket he stuffed in the bag. The weather is not too cold but the breeze does make you cold from being near the water.
“What are you doing?” You laugh out as he wraps the two of you. “Reading to you, now shush.” Just like he said Rafe starts reading where you left off. The sound of his voice is soothing, making you feel more relaxed than you have in a while. Everything has been so stressful that it feels nice being normal for a while. You look over to where you see Theo trying to play with Vi who doesn’t seem too interested. Sighing you turn a bit away from them, focusing back on the book. More time passes and eventually Rafe puts the book back down.
“Rafe!” There’s a shriek of Vi’s voice. The two of you check to male sure she’s okay to see that she’s running towards you. As she reaches the edge of the sheet she jumps on it and holds out her hands. They are cupped together displaying an array of different shells. “Look shelds.” You sit up giving her room to come closer. “Shells baby. Let me see.” She giggles repeating the word, continuing to show Rafe what she collected. “Come on Violet, give them space.” Theo runs up taking a hold of her arm to have her stand up. Rafe rips his hand off of Vi, hugging her as she curls into Rafe. “Don’t ever touch her like that, get it.” Theo’s eyes narrow and he calls Vi again. When she doesn’t budge he looks back to where Delia and Jane are standing. Theo looks at his watch and smirks.
“I still have thirty minutes left of my visitation. Wonder how much Jane would love to know you are cutting it short. Or how he just threatened me.” Removing the blanket from you, you stand and grab Vi’s hand. “I’m not doing this with you today. Stop trying to play victim when we both know what truly happened. Let's just finish this half hour so we can go on with our day.” You help guide Vi back to where Theo had set up, smiling at Jane as you passed her. When you reached Theo you paused. “No matter how much you try you’ll never be her dad. You’ll always be the guy who abandoned us, never forget that.”
The rest of the time went by fast. By the car Rafe puts everything away as you wait for them to come. They make their way out of the entrance, Theo holding Vi’s hand as she bats away Delia’s hand. You want to laugh at her disdain of the woman but you hold it in. The arm that Theo holds wiggles but never slips free from his hold. Vi sees you standing in front of the car and tries to run up to you only to fall backwards. A cry escapes her lips, tears streaming down her face. You rush over with Rafe a few steps behind you. “Is she okay?” You hear Delia ask as Theo kneels in front of her. Bi kicks and swats her hands trying to push him away. “Baby are you okay?”
At the sound of your voice Vi’s tears die down as she reaches for you. You push Theo away from her and pick her up. Inspecting her head and face you move to her arms and legs. “You okay sweet girl?” She shakes her head no and leans onto him wrapping her arms around his neck. Rafe takes her from your arms and rubs her back as her tears silently fall. “She could have been hurt from how hard you were holding her. What’s wrong with you?” Rafe can’t stop himself before the words fall out of his mouth. “So you would rather her get mulled over by a car? I was making sure she was safe.” Theo takes a step closer but you step in between them. “Next time just be gentler. She’s still young so that could have really hurt her arm.”
Rafe clocks that you are angry and would love more than anything to tear him a new one. But he knows that you can’t due to Jane and he hates he let himself verbally lash at him. “Look man, I'm sorry. Never seen her cry like that can it really freaked me out.” Rafe dips his chin to look at the little girl in his arms and adjusts her to hold her closer. Theo scoffs and wraps an arm around Delia. “We’ll see you next weekend.” They walk away and Jane comes up to the three of you.
“Is she okay?” You look at your daughter and back at the older lady. “Yeah I think so. Probably bruised her butt in the fall but I’ll do a double check when we get home.” Jane nods and then stills. Following her eyeline you follow in her footsteps. On Vi’s right arm was a red splotch with an outline of a hand. Your hand reaches out to brush your fingers against it causing her to wince. Rafe gently holds her tiny hand to get a better look and his face contorted with anger. “I need to take a picture of this and report it. You should go get her checked out and then send me the files. Let me know how she does.”
So much for having a nice relaxing day. You are now sitting in an emergency room waiting for the doctors to finish their checkup. The mark has gone down a lot from what it was but it’s still faintly there. The striped curtain brings back flashbacks to when you were about to give birth to Vi.
“Just breathe, I'm sure they’ll come here soon.” Lillian, Jo’s mom, tries to calm you. You had woken up in the middle of the night in extreme pain. When you went to move from the bed you saw a few spots of blood. Everyone in the house woke up to your screams rushing in to see you crying and holding your stomach. Benji, Jo’s dad, had driven you all to the ER. You couldn’t stop crying imagining the worst. The baby wasn’t due for another three weeks and this is concerning.
The ER was packed and they stuck you in a space promising for a doctor to come see you but that was almost two hours ago. The curtain strips make you feel like you are losing your mind. You’re in excruciation pain and they won’t even help you. All you can think about is what if there’s something wrong with the baby. You didn’t spot it in the early stages of your pregnancy so why would you start now? That just means that there is something wrong.
The curtain is drawn to the side as Jo walks in pointing to you as she faces a doctor. “She’s fucking pregnant and you have her sitting her in pain. What the hell is wrong with all of you?” Jo’s voice bounces off the walls of the ER. You can see some people looking at the scene shaking their heads in disgust. “Listen, we have a packed emergency room. We are trying our best.” Benji stands up and joins his daughter now. “Listen, my kid is in pain. She woke up and had bloody sheets. Now I may not be a doctor but I sure as hell know that she shouldn’t be bleeding like that so late into her pregnancy.”
All the commotion caused people that were waiting to pay attention. “Once again sir we have other patients to look at as well. We are overwhelmed today.” The doctor goes to walk away when someone who was waiting got in his way. “Are you really going to let a pregnant lady suffer like that?” The doctor stumbles over some words trying to argue his case. “Something could be wrong with the baby and you aren’t even going to help. What is wrong with you?”
Other people joined in, arguing with the doctor until he finally gave in. He went and got another doctor to check in on you since he had to go check on another patient. This time it only took two minutes before a female doctor came in. “Hi, I'm Doctor Foster. I heard we came in due to some pain and bleeding.” You nod and tell her how you woke up to sharp pain along with the bloody sheets. She hums, writing down what you told her and asks if she can check your uterus. After agreeing she has you lay down more as she puts on gloves.
As she is checking you hold onto Jo’s hand as she brushes some hair from your forehead. “Well I think I know what the blood and pain was from. You’re water broke in your sleep and the blood was from bloody show.” She takes her gloves off and explains how she’s going to send someone down to bring you to the maternity ward.
“Is the bleeding something we should be worried about?” Lillian asks. She never experienced it and doesn’t know if it is bad or good. Jo was an easy birth so this is new to her. “It’s normal. As the cervix dilates the blood vessels can rupture. We’ll keep an eye on it to make sure it’s nothing serious but everything looks good.” She explains the process from her on out a bit more before the nurses show up to bring you to the ward. “You’re about three centimeters dilated so you still have some time to go. But good luck mom, you are going to do great.”
She wasn’t wrong when she said you would be there for a while. The sun slowly creeps back into the sky as you deal with contractions. Hours kept ticking by until finally your delivery doctor said you were fully dilated. It wasn’t before long that you heard the little cries and your daughter was placed on your chest.
“My little Violet.” You say as you caress her cheek.
“Baby you okay?” You turn to look at Rafe who’s watching you with a worried look. His left hand raises and wipes away a stray tear that fell. “Sorry I was just thinking. Last time I was in the hospital with Vi was when she was born.” Rafe wraps an arm around you. Pulling you close to his side. Vi sits on the bed seeming to love the attention as the doctor makes her laugh.
The three of you were there for another twenty minutes as they asked you what happened to get an understanding. The doctor said that Vi was fine but encouraged you to keep a closer eye on her interactions with Theo. “He’s lucky that he didn’t pop her shoulder out of its socket. The fact that she had a handprint mark is very worrying because there’s no reason for him to hold her that tightly.”
When you had gotten home you went straight to your room so you could scan the paperwork and send it over to Jane. As you make your way down the hallway you can hear murmurs coming from the kitchen. June greeted you from the couch as she sat down with Vi watching Toy Story. “Heard this one had an eventful day.” You sigh already knowing where this night is going to go. “I just sent the documents to the case worker. We’ll see how it goes.”
The older lady nods her head, humming as she formulates the words she wants to say. “I know you are trying to be neutral so they can view that as good. But sweetie this man has not been playing fair the whole time and now this happened.” You avert your eyes to look at the floor. “Maybe what the judge and social worker want to see is you fighting him to get her.” You snap your head up. “That is what I’m doing.”
“I’ve known you practically your whole life. You’ve always been the peacekeeper. I think it’s time to show him you’re a fighter and he has no place in your life anymore.” Her tone is soft and caring which makes it even harder for you to be mad. You know that she’s right, you can't keep playing things safe. It feels like she’s picking at a sore wound and it hurts. “I’m going to get Vi’s dinner ready.” You walk over to give her a kiss before going to the kitchen.
At the entrance way you can see Rafe and Jo whispering to each other. Jo has her back faced to you as Rafe stands in front of her. His head is leaning down so you can’t really hear what he is saying. Another step forward and he was alerted to your presence. He glances up at you and straightens up. “Hey did you send everything over?” You nod your head, and go to get some pans when you realize Jo was already making dinner.
“It’s about to be done, if you want to set up the table.” Trying to ignore the nagging in your head you set up the table. Throughout dinner you feel like you aren’t even there. No one is really saying anything sensing that your mood was off. They feel like if they utter a word that you might break. Usually you like to chat and hear about everyone’s day but there you were. Silent.
By the time you put Vi to bed you are already in your head. You change in your room as Rafe sits there waiting for you to say something. “Can I spend the night?” Throwing on your shirt you turn around. “Sure.” You go to the bathroom and get ready for bed as he changes. When you lay in bed Rafe finally had enough. “What’s wrong?” The book you like to read before bed is sitting in your lap untouched.
“What were you and Jo talking about in the kitchen?” He sits up at the question not really meeting your eyes. “Nothing really. Just telling her what happened.” Placing the book down you turn to face him. “I already told her what happened when we got Vi checked out.” Watching him try to scramble something else up is surreal. “I think you should go home.” His head moves to look at you. “Come on, don't do this. It wasn’t anything important.” You shake your head pulling the sheets off of you to gather his clothes.
“The last time I had someone lie to me was Theo after I caught him cheating. I won’t have you lie to me.” He shoots up from the bed stopping you from picking up the rest of his things. “You think I’m cheating on you with Jo? We would never do that to you.” You shake your head. “No but I don’t appreciate you lying to me. I spent a whole relationship hearing lies and second guessing myself. I’m not going to do that for a second time.” He pulls you into a hug, holding tightly as you try to escape.
“She was talking me out of starting something with Theo. I was pissed and wanted to hurt him for what he did to Vi. Was just about ready to go beat him up and she told me I should think about the two of you.” You start crying, clinging to him. He doesn’t know what to say so he just holds you. Slowly he brings you back to the bed and tucks you in. “What’s going on?”
“I feel like I’m failing everyone. I couldn’t protect Vi today and everyone is talking behind my back.” You lean back and wipe your hands on your tear stained cheek. “Why is this happening to me? I thought I finally got away.” Rafe calms you down, rocking you from side to side as he lets you vent to him. Soon the tears subsided and the two of you were laying in bed. “You aren’t failing anyone. We just want this to all go away just as much as you do.” He moves down on the bed to be face level with you.
“We love Vi so much and it hurts us what happened today. But we love you just as much. You’re doing a great job and I’m so proud of you.” He caresses your face and kisses you. “I got your back baby. You aren’t alone anymore.” Rafe stays up listening to your breathing. He looks at your sleeping face wishing he could take away all of your pain.
Just as he’s about to fall asleep he promises he will always protect you.

The city was cloaked in the heavy embrace of night, the distant hum of traffic blending with the steady drizzle that fell from the sky. You sat in the corner of your once-shared apartment, the flickering light from a lone lamp— the one you bought on your first anniversary, casting eerie shadows on the walls. The room, once filled with laughter and love, now felt like a tomb of broken dreams and shattered promises.
More under the cut!
Yeonjun stood by the window, staring out into the rain-soaked streets, his silhouette a stark contrast against the glass. His shoulders were tense, his posture rigid. The silence was suffocating, filled with unspoken words and unresolved pain, but in retrospect, it’s been like this for a while, so long that you can barely remember anything but this.
“How did we get here?” Your voice was a whisper, barely audible over the patter of rain against the window. Hugging your knees to your chest while trying to contain the storm of emotions swirling inside you.
Yeonjun didn’t even turn to face you— coward. “I don’t know,” he replied, his voice hollow, devoid of the warmth it once held. “I really don’t know.”
Your heart ached at his indifference. You had been so in love, so certain that nothing could come between you. But now, standing on the edge of a precipice, you can’t recognize the person he has become. Or maybe it’s yourself you can’t recognize, months have passed since the last time you felt at ease.
“Is this it, then? Are we really ending things like this?” You scoffed, trying to ignore the nauseous feeling. You hated how desperate you sounded, how broken.
Yeonjun finally turned to look at you, his eyes filled with a mixture of anger and sorrow. “You know my career is important for me,” he said, his voice tinged with bitterness. “How selfish do you have to be to make me choose between my dream and you?”
Tears welled up in your eyes, but you blinked them back, refusing to let them fall. “I didn’t—” you started, voice trembling. “I never wanted you to choose, but I’m so fucking unhappy. You’re never here anymore.”
His expression softened for a moment, but then the hardness returned. “And you think it’s easy for me? That I’m not exhausted?” he said. “I gave up my whole youth for this, ___. I can’t go around wasting my time in distractions.”
Well, ouch. The words hung in the air, heavy and final. You knew he was right. And you had become a twisted version of what you once were, love poisoned by insecurity, unmet expectations and lack of communication. But knowing it didn’t make it hurt any less. After a while, you broke the silence, just to make this moment last.
“Do you remember the first time we met?” Your voice barely a whisper. “You were so offended that we didn’t serve ramen at the restaurant.”
A sad smile tugged at the corner of Yeonjun’s lips. “Yeah, I remember. And then the next week you added it to the menu.”
You laughed softly, the sound tinged with sadness, thinking of the way he’d stop by your parent’s restaurant every week after that, a little hiding spot in his almost non existent free time. “And now look at us. We’ve come so far, only to end up like this.”
Yeonjun took a deep breath, the weight of their shared past pressing down on him. “Maybe... maybe it’s for the best,” he said, though his voice lacked conviction. “Maybe we need to focus on what really matters again, get our lives back on track.” What really matters.
The thought of a life without him was unbearable, yet the thought of continuing this toxic dance was equally painful. What felt like a daydream soon turned into a nightmare, the promises he couldn’t keep of balancing his career and your relationship, the forgotten birthdays, missed calls and the cold shoulder you’d give him out of spite. It was self-destructive.
But oh, the good days. Your first month together lingered in your mind for longer than you wanted it to. When it was all about stolen kisses, passionate touches and getting to know each other.
“I wish things would’ve ended different,” he continued, glistening gaze with unshed tears drifting to a picture of the two of you hung up on the wall.
“I wish things never ended.” You replied with a sad chuckle. “It feels like you don’t care.”
He sat in silence, ignoring your statement, the rain a constant backdrop to your unraveling. There were no more words left to say, no more apologies or promises that could mend the fractures in your hearts. All that remained was the painful acceptance that sometimes love wasn’t enough.
Yeonjun moved toward the door, the finality of his actions like a knife to your heart. He paused for a moment, his hand on the doorknob. “Take care of yourself,” he said softly, his voice filled with a sorrow that matched your own.
“I love you,” you replied, your voice barely a whisper as you didn’t expect an answer.
And with that, he was gone, leaving you alone in the dimly lit apartment, the echo of his presence lingering in the shadows. The weight of your goodbye crashed down on you as his steps became inaudible, the possibility of never seeing who you thought was the love of your life again being more than you could handle.
In the quiet of the night, surrounded by memories of what once was, you allowed herself to grieve. Your love had been beautiful and passionate, but it had also been destructive and painful. And now, as you faced the prospect of a future without him, you knew that healing would take time.
And maybe, just maybe, you would look back and remember not the pain, but the moments of love and laughter that had once defined what you had.

You write so fast omg 🫣 So I'm back with more ideas
Reader who has a terminal illness(Anguish??👀) , she is a doctor who tests herself and is responsible for finding several cures for people with diseases
She loves helping people since she can't help herself, a scenario with Viktor(come back home my love), Jayce, Silco and haimerdingers would be amazing <3
terminally ill doctor (with the condition Anguish) who helps others but struggles with her own illness. The characters Viktor, Jayce, Silco, and Heimerdinger
Viktor
Viktor had always admired your brilliance, your unyielding desire to save others despite your own condition. But lately, the look in your eyes had changed. There was a weight in your gaze, something that betrayed your struggle. He noticed the slight tremor in your hands when you reached for a vial of medicine or the way you would pause in the middle of a conversation, your breath catching, as if the Anguish was threatening to pull you under.
His heart ached for you, knowing you’d dedicated your life to saving others, finding cures, and yet the very thing you couldn’t cure was yourself. The guilt he felt for not being able to fix this—despite all his work in the field of science and technology—was unbearable.
One evening, as you sat hunched over your desk, surrounded by papers and vials, he entered the room quietly. “Come back to bed, my love,” Viktor whispered softly, his voice a balm to the storm in your chest. His words weren’t just an invitation to rest—they were a plea for you to let him take care of you for once.
He carefully approached, kneeling beside you and gently brushing a lock of hair from your forehead. “I know you don’t like to stop, but you’ve done so much. Let me help. Please, rest.” He reached for your hand, bringing it to his chest where his heart beat just a little faster than usual. “We’ll find a way to cure you, together. I promise.”
Jayce
Jayce had never been one to let anyone shoulder the burden alone. He admired your intelligence and dedication, but seeing you slowly fade, despite all your efforts, was a painful reminder of his own helplessness. He’d watched you push through your illness, continuing your research as if nothing had changed, always putting others before yourself.
“Why?” Jayce asked one day, his voice thick with frustration. “Why do you keep pushing yourself so hard when you know how much it’s costing you?”
You glanced at him, your tired eyes soft but filled with quiet resolve. “Because I can’t help myself,” you whispered. “But I can help them. And that’s enough.”
Jayce stepped closer, his hand cupping your cheek gently. “It’s not enough, not if it means losing you. Please… we need you here with us.”
With a heavy sigh, Jayce wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into a tight embrace, his words muffled in your hair. “Come back to me, okay? Let me take care of you. Let me share your burden.” He held you like that, as if he could shield you from the world’s cruelty, even though he knew the weight of the situation.
Silco
Silco was a man of control, of power. He didn’t let weakness show, and he certainly didn’t allow himself to rely on anyone. But when it came to you, he was different. He could see the toll your illness was taking on you, and though he would never admit it outright, it terrified him. He couldn’t afford to lose you, not when you had become such an integral part of his life. Your brilliance had helped him in ways no one else could—fixing things, offering him solutions he could only dream of. But it hurt him to see the woman he cared for slipping away, even though you would never ask for his help.
One evening, when you collapsed into a chair, too weak to continue your work, Silco’s voice was low but intense as he approached. “You can’t keep doing this. Your research won’t matter if you’re gone.”
You looked up, and his piercing gaze softened, though only for a brief moment. “I’ll find a cure for myself, just as I’ve done for others,” you said, a determined yet fragile smile on your face.
“Let me help you,” Silco’s voice was quiet, almost as if the words pained him to say. He rarely asked for help, but for you, he’d make an exception. “You don’t have to carry this burden alone. It’s killing you, and I won’t let it take you from me.”
His usual coldness was replaced by something raw—vulnerable—and for a moment, you saw the man he truly was. You didn’t have to do this alone. Silco would ensure that.
Heimerdinger
Heimerdinger’s heart broke for you. He had always seen the potential in you, admired your intellect, but seeing you slowly weaken because of your condition was more than he could bear. He knew there was nothing he could do with his current knowledge to help you, but that didn’t stop him from wanting to try.
He often stayed up late with you, pouring over research, working through theories, hoping that somehow, together, you could find a way to fix this. But he knew the truth: even his vast knowledge of science couldn’t change the fact that you were slipping away. It was a cruel irony that someone so devoted to saving others was unable to save themselves.
One night, after a long day of research, he found you sitting quietly in your office, gazing out the window, exhausted and defeated. He quietly approached, his small hands trembling as he placed them on your shoulder.
“You’ve done so much for this world,” he said, his voice gentle and full of emotion. “I only wish I could do more for you. You’ve worked so hard, and I fear it has cost you everything. But there is still hope, as long as you’re with us. We will continue looking for a solution. Together.”
Heimerdinger paused, glancing at the papers on the desk before returning his gaze to you. “You don’t have to fight this alone.”

Autumn Break
Masterlist
The soft crunch of tires on gravel filled the air as Lando’s car rolled up the winding driveway of his family’s countryside estate. The sprawling stone cottage came into view, its warm lights glowing against the backdrop of an overcast autumn sky. The surrounding hills were painted in hues of orange and gold, leaves fluttering down with the breeze.
“This is it!” Lando announced with a grin, pulling the handbrake and hopping out. “Welcome to paradise, everyone.”
Franco was the first to step out, immediately stretching his arms. “Lando, mate, you’ve outdone yourself. This is incredible.”
Oscar followed, giving an approving nod. “I can see why you wanted to host. Feels like we’re in a painting.”
I slid out of the car last, my eyes trailing across the rolling fields. “It’s beautiful. Quiet, too.”
“Exactly the point,” Lando replied, clapping his hands. “No media, no fans, just us.”
Alex was the last to step out, his expression guarded as he adjusted his hoodie. His eyes flicked to me for a brief moment before quickly looking away. He’d been distant ever since the invite had been extended, and it wasn’t hard to guess why.
Lando caught the tension and quickly ushered everyone toward the house. “Let’s get inside and warm up. I’ll give you the grand tour.”
Inside, the estate was as cozy as I had imagined—stone walls, exposed wooden beams, and a massive fireplace crackling in the living room. The smell of freshly brewed coffee lingered in the air, and a stack of blankets was already piled on the sofa.
As Lando launched into a detailed history of his family’s estate, I couldn’t help but notice Alex keeping his distance. He hovered near the back of the group, his arms crossed, his eyes scanning the room but never settling on me.
The awkwardness between us was palpable, but I decided to give him space. Franco, ever the entertainer, kept the mood light with his exaggerated reactions to Lando’s stories.
By the time dinner rolled around, everyone had settled into their respective corners of the house. Franco had claimed the spot by the fireplace, Oscar was engrossed in a book, and Lando was in the kitchen preparing snacks. I wandered outside for some fresh air, finding myself on a stone patio overlooking the garden. The quiet was comforting, a stark contrast to the chaos of the paddock.
“You okay?” Franco’s voice broke through my thoughts.
I turned to see him leaning against the doorframe, his easy smile reassuring.
“Yeah,” I said, forcing a smile. “Just... taking it all in.”
He nodded knowingly. “It’s a lot, huh? Don’t let Alex get to you, by the way. He’s just cautious.”
“I get it,” I replied. “I just wish people would take the time to know me instead of believing everything they hear.”
“They will,” Franco said confidently. “Starting with us.”
The next morning, after a hearty breakfast, Lando proposed a hike to “explore the vast wilderness.”
“It’s a three-mile loop,” he explained, tying his boots. “Should take us a couple of hours if we don’t stop too much. Franco, try not to sprint ahead this time.”
Franco smirked, slinging his backpack over one shoulder. “No promises.”
As the group set off, the crisp autumn air filled my lungs, and the sound of rustling leaves accompanied every step. Lando and Franco led the way, their laughter echoing through the trees as they debated the fastest route. Oscar stayed in the middle, occasionally chiming in, while I found myself at the back—again, next to Alex.
“Some view, huh?” I said, breaking the silence.
“Yeah,” Alex replied shortly, not meeting my gaze.
Deciding to keep things light, I continued, “I think Lando’s underestimating how bad Franco’s sense of direction is. We might end up doing double the distance.”
That earned a faint chuckle from Alex. “Wouldn’t be the first time.”
Encouraged, I pressed on. “Have you been on many of these trips with him?”
“A few,” he admitted. “Lando loves this kind of thing—getting everyone together, playing host.”
“And you?”
Alex hesitated, his eyes fixed on the path ahead. “I prefer to keep things simple.”
The trail eventually led to a small clearing at the top of a hill, offering a panoramic view of the countryside. Lando and Franco were already there, Franco snapping pictures while Lando struck ridiculous poses.
“Finally!” Franco called out as Alex and I arrived. “Took you long enough.”
“We weren’t the ones who got lost halfway up,” I shot back, earning a laugh from Oscar.
As everyone took a moment to catch their breath, Alex wandered to the edge of the clearing, his hands in his pockets. I hesitated before approaching, the silence between us growing heavier.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” I said softly, standing beside Alex.
He nodded but didn’t respond.
Taking a deep breath, I decided to address the elephant in the room. “Look, Alex... I know you’ve probably heard a lot about me, and I can’t control what people say. But I’d appreciate it if you gave me a chance to prove who I really am.”
Alex’s jaw tightened, his gaze fixed on the horizon. “It’s not just the rumors. It’s... hard to trust people in this sport. Everyone’s looking out for themselves.”
“I get that,” I said, my tone as earnest as I could be. “But trust has to start somewhere, right?”
For a moment, Alex didn’t say anything. Then, finally, he looked at me, his expression softening. “Maybe.”
It wasn’t much, but it was a start.
That evening, the group gathered in the living room for game night. Lando had pulled out a stack of board games and a console, insisting on a Mario Kart tournament.
“I’m warning you now,” Lando said, wagging a finger, “I’m undefeated on this track.”
“You’ve met your match,” I replied with a grin, grabbing a controller.
The games were chaotic and loud, with Franco yelling at the screen every time he crashed and Oscar quietly dominating round after round. Alex was surprisingly competitive, his focus laser-sharp as he maneuvered through the tracks.
When Alex and I were paired up for a doubles match, I couldn’t help but notice how the tension between us had eased. He even laughed when I accidentally sent a blue shell his way, shaking his head in mock exasperation.
By the end of the night, the room was filled with laughter and empty snack bags. As everyone started to drift off to bed, Alex lingered for a moment, his gaze meeting mine.
“You’re not bad at this,” he said, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
“High praise from the great Alex Albon,” I teased, earning a quiet chuckle.
“Goodnight,” he said softly before heading upstairs.
“Goodnight,” I replied, feeling a small sense of accomplishment.
The next morning, I woke early and found Alex sitting on the patio, a steaming mug of coffee in his hands.
“Mind if I join?” I asked, holding up my own mug.
He gestured to the chair beside him. “Go ahead.”
The two of us sat in silence for a while, watching the sun rise over the hills. Finally, Alex spoke.
“You’re different from what I expected,” he admitted, his tone thoughtful.
“Is that a good thing?” I asked with a small smile.
He nodded. “Yeah, it is.”
The conversation that followed was easy, flowing naturally as Alex asked about my journey into racing and the challenges I’d faced. For the first time, he seemed genuinely interested, his walls starting to come down.
By the time the others woke up, I felt like I’d made real progress. And as Lando teased Alex about his newfound friendliness, I couldn’t help but smile.
For the first time, it felt like maybe, just maybe, Alex was starting to see me for who I truly was.
After breakfast, I found myself lounging on the couch, the warmth of the fireplace making it almost too comfortable to move. But an idea had been brewing in the back of my mind since the night before. I turned to the group, a sly smile creeping onto my face.
“You know what this place needs?” I asked.
“What’s that?” Lando replied, lounging dramatically in an armchair like he owned the place (which, technically, he did).
“Cookies,” I said simply.
Franco perked up immediately. “You mean the fresh, warm, melt-in-your-mouth kind?”
“The only kind,” I confirmed. “But we’re going to make them ourselves.”
“Uh-oh,” Lando said with mock concern. “Do we trust you in a kitchen?”
I shot him a playful glare. “I can bake, thank you very much. But it’s a team effort.”
Alex, sitting in the corner with a book, raised an eyebrow. “You really think we’re capable of that kind of coordination?”
“That’s half the fun,” I replied, already grabbing my jacket. “But first, we need supplies. Who’s coming with me to the store?”
The trip to the local store was far from calm. Lando insisted on driving, which was a mistake given his tendency to take every turn like it was a hairpin on a race track. Franco and I were crammed into the backseat, laughing as Oscar tried to argue with Lando about his “questionable” navigation skills.
The store itself was no better. Franco and Lando raced down the aisles with shopping baskets, grabbing random ingredients that definitely weren’t on my list.
“Why do we need gummy worms for cookies?” I asked, holding up the package Lando had thrown in.
“They’re for me,” he said with a grin, tossing another bag into the basket.
Alex, who had been surprisingly quiet, handed me a small bag of chocolate chips. “These are the good ones,” he said, his tone oddly serious.
“Noted,” I replied, smiling. “Thank you, cookie connoisseur.”
By the time we left, we had enough supplies to bake cookies for an army—or maybe just for Franco, given his appetite.
Back at the house, we divided into makeshift teams: Franco and Lando were on “mixing duty,” Alex and I handled measurements, and Oscar claimed the role of “quality control,” which mostly involved sneaking chocolate chips when he thought no one was looking.
“Why is this so sticky?” Franco asked, holding up a spatula covered in dough.
“Because you’re not mixing it right,” Lando replied, trying to wrestle the bowl from him.
“You’re not mixing it right!” Franco shot back, prompting an all-out tug-of-war over the bowl.
“Guys!” I intervened, laughing. “Just stir it gently. It’s cookie dough, not cement.”
Alex smirked from across the counter. “They’re hopeless.”
“And you’re not helping,” I teased, nudging him with my elbow. He shook his head, but I caught the faint smile on his face.
After what felt like an eternity—and a small flour fight initiated by Franco—we finally managed to get the dough onto baking sheets and into the oven.
As the cookies baked, the smell of chocolate and vanilla filled the kitchen. Lando set a timer and then plopped onto the couch, visibly exhausted from the “hard labor.”
“This better be worth it,” he said dramatically.
“Oh, it will be,” I assured him.
When the timer dinged, everyone crowded around as I carefully pulled the trays from the oven. The cookies were golden brown, the chocolate chips glistening.
“Moment of truth,” Franco announced, grabbing one before they’d even had a chance to cool. “Hot! Hot!” he yelped, tossing it between his hands.
“Patience, Franco,” Alex said, shaking his head.
But once the cookies had cooled enough to eat, the chaos turned to quiet as everyone took their first bite.
“These are... amazing,” Oscar said, his eyes wide.
“I told you,” I replied smugly.
Even Alex looked impressed. “Not bad,” he said, his voice light.
“High praise from the great Alex Albon,” I teased, earning a chuckle and a slap to the arm.
With the cookies devoured and the kitchen a mess, we all collapsed in the living room, full and content. Lando had a plate of extras balanced on his lap, and Franco was already eyeing them.
“This,” Franco declared, “needs to be a tradition.”
“I’m not cleaning next time,” Oscar said firmly, though his smile betrayed him.
Alex, sitting on the armrest of the couch, glanced at me. “You were right,” he said softly. “This was fun.”
“See? Told you baking isn’t so bad,” I replied.
For the rest of the evening, the house was filled with laughter, the smell of cookies lingering in the air. And as I looked around at my friends, I couldn’t help but feel grateful. These moments—messy, imperfect, and full of heart—were what made everything worth it.

Hi! I love your writing so so much!!
If possible, could you do one where the reader has been working overtime at work and is exhausted, like they've been having headaches and barely sleeping & Frank notices and basically convinces them and helps them to take a break? Thank you!! 💕❤️
KEEP ME COMPANY ’TIL THE END ➵ F. CASTLE
Summary: You’re pushing yourself past your limits for work and Frank intervenes.
Warnings: Stress, mostly fluff, gender neutral reader, language
Word count: 770
Author’s note: Hiiii my loves! I am so sorry for being MIA, this semester is kicking my ass :( Rn it seems like my posts will be a little infrequent because I have sooo many deadlines before Christmas, but I’m gonna try my best!! I have not forgotten about all your requests!! Thank you so much for your patience, thank you also for 900 followers, that’s so wack but I am so grateful <3 Anon, I hope you enjoy this short fic and that you forgive me for being so slow to get this out. Much love!
A brewing headache pinched at your temples and you were painfully aware that every minute you spent staring at your outrageously bright laptop screen only sealed your fate tighter and tighter. It was getting late but you still felt like you had so much to do; like you had barely scratched the surface of all your responsibilities. You had only taken a break to go to the bathroom and reluctantly eat something when Frank had insisted on it, and now the tension from sitting on the couch with your laptop huffing and puffing on your thighs was starting to seep into your shoulders and neck.
Frank didn’t like it, the way you worked yourself to the bone, but he had swallowed down his complaints when you had promised to wrap things up within the hour. Still, you could feel his scrutinizing stare on you from across the couch, his attention on your focused frown rather than the football game he was supposed to be watching. He was itching to say something, to force you away from the suffocating bubble of stress, but he was trying to be patient — though the scratched label of his beer bottle said plenty.
When you winced at the pulsating headache behind your eye, though, he cleared his throat and reached for your laptop.
”Hey! Frank, noooo. I’m not done”, you insisted, trying to get the device back but he was quick to save your document and then slap it closed before you could retrieve it. He angled it behind his back and tutted at you, disapproving of the way you were pushing yourself for the sixth day in a row.
”Nah, sweetheart, I’m tellin’ you, you’re gonna waste away if you don’t take a break. You’ve been at it all day, aight? I want you here with me, not worryin’ about shit”, he argued back, your pout doing nothing to sway him. He always caved in and gave you what you wanted — unless your health and sanity were at stake.
You frowned, a sudden surge of guilt swinging at your chest. ”I guess I’ve been kinda neglecting you…”, you admitted with shame. That had never been your intention, but you couldn’t deny that you had not been a very present partner lately.
Shaking his head, Frank set the beer on the coffee table and took your hand in his own. ”It ain’t about that, darlin’. It’s the fact that this is wearin’ you out. I know you ain’t sleepin’ and I gotta jump through all these hoops to just get you to eat. I’m worried, y’know?” he explained, his tone stern but still warm. He was trying his hardest to be understanding, but he took your well-being too personally to let this newfound routine go on.
You managed a nod and squeezed his hand. ”I know, Frankie, I’m sorry, it’s just… there’s so much to do and I can’t fall behind”, you tried to rationalize your persistent working, and he sighed softly, not out of frustration but to acknowledge the difficult situation.
”I get it, sweetheart. But no one can expect you to be efficient at this hour, aight? You need to rest, too. Yeah?” Frank pointed out, tilting his head to catch your gaze. He was right and you knew it, so begrudgingly, you admitted defeat.
”Okay. I’ll limit myself”, you agreed, and with the concern in his eyes slowly fading, Frank nodded approvingly. He placed the laptop on the table before opening his arms for you, gesturing for you to cuddle up to him. The invitation made you smile and seeing joy on your face for the first time all day got Frank’s lips twitching, too.
You nestled against him and he wrapped you into a cocoon of safety and warmth, hoping to distract you from the stress lingering on your mind. It was hard not to think about all the work you could have been doing, and Frank suspected as much.
”I know it ain’t easy to just turn it off. But you deserve a break, baby. And I’m fuckin’ proud of you for all your effort, but I’ll be proud if you cut back a lil, too”, he spoke up after a moment of just cuddling, and with your heart soaring at his praise, you tilted your head up so you could kiss his jaw tenderly.
”Thank you, Frank. Love you”, you muttered, feeling the exhaustion of the past week creep up on you. Frank noticed, but he was glad — you needed sleep, and he was going to try and help you do it however he could.
”Love you too, sweetheart.”

Tamlin’s first instinct when Briar did not cease talking was to stiffen his shoulders and shut his eyes, but he pushed it away.
He knew stories of his life roamed rampant around his court, but he’d never suspect Lucien of telling them to strangers. They’d always had a promise to keep their words between them whenever possible. Briar was new to Spring. Perhaps, she’d misidentified him, or maybe, the incoming stress of parenthood had finally gotten to Lucien on a late night at the bar.
Truthfully, when she took the time to speak a little slower, she could be poetic. Tamlin pushed back his looming anxiety as he spotted her fingers twitching to hold his.
Touch. It must be her love language. It had been Feyre’s too. That was only another reason why this was so hard. Tamlin reached for her hands and clasped them between his much bigger, warmer ones. “That was…very poetic.”
He could feel the outline of his mother’s ring beneath his own. This charade was finally over. He could breathe again.
“I wouldn’t force you to travel through dangerous terrain alone; let alone with a faeling. I’m not the kind of person. Not that kind of male.” Tamlin said. “You can barely ride a horse, let alone with a toddler. A wagon and pair of sentries will meet you at the border and I will ensure you get that far.”
He withdrew his hands slowly and stood up. “I have a few more affairs to settle here. There is work to be done on the treaty. I will change forms at the border and remain for a few days.”
He offered her a hand up. “When you return to the manor, will you please entrust my things to Lucien? He’ll know what to do with them.”
“It’s been an honor, Lady Briar.”
This Life is Sweeter Than Fiction (ft. @springcourthighlady)
Daylight folded through the narrow window in the room of the inn and warmed Tamlin’s face, urging him to wake. He wasn’t a morning person. Given his proclivity to stay up late into the night, waking up was not exactly his favorite thing. He was used to waking up to a cold bed and sore body, pained from a night of thrashing through his nightmares alone. Instead, this morning, he woke to the gentle breath of a female on his neck.
Still sleepy, his dreams had a hold on him, and he remembered the early days before the mountain — before all hell rained upon his court, before he’d lost his faith in himself, and in love. Yet, he woke further and the body next his own did not line up with memory, only emotion.
The way he’d danced around the lines with Briar last night was not far from Tamlin’s mind as he woke. Mornings? Those, he didn’t like. Morning affection? Oh, how sweet it was to taste.
Still, the High Lord pushed a reminder of his boundaries into his view, forcing away the rose tinted glasses.
Sleeping together was different than sleeping together.
He carefully climbed from the bed and pulled the blankets back up to Briar’s shoulder. A shower would do him some good, but they did not need more temptation. Still, she tended to panic when he disappeared. Tamlin pursed his lips and entered the bathing room, locking it twice, magically and manually.
The cold water dripped down from the pipes and once again settled him back into a stern sense of reality. They had a purpose here. This wasn’t a vacation…nor a honeymoon. It was a rescue. At least one of them needed to keep their head on straight.
He pulled his clothes on and wrapped a towel around his long hair, leaving the bathroom with a toothbrush. Sure — he could use magic to power through these tasks; but apparently he needed to get better at being human. That meant brushing his teeth with a small, infernal, tickly device.
By the time he turned around the privacy screen and into the room, Briar was awake.
Well. She said she wanted him to practice being human.
He furrowed his brows, with a teasing smile. “Hush. High Lords have dental hygiene too.”
