German Rheinmetall produces 81mm mortar ammunition for Switzerland

The Düsseldorf-based technology group Rheinmetall has received an order from the Swiss Confederation for the production and delivery of cargo ammunition for 81 mm mortars, EDR On-Line reports.

The total value of the order is around double-digit millions of euros. The entire scope of supply includes 81mm MX2-KM mortar guns from Rheinmetall EXPAL Munitions SA as well as 81mm Cargo mortar ammunition for white light illumination, infrared light illumination and RP (Red Phospor) based smoke discharge, which is manufactured by Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH at its Neuenburg am Rhein plant. Delivery is scheduled for 2025 and includes various additional services as part of the product launch.

The ammunition is qualified for the MX2-KM mortar of the Swiss Armed Forces and together with the weapon system forms a mortar system in which both the ammunition and the weapon system are manufactured by Rheinmetall.

The cargo ammunition was tested at a firing range on the coast of Spain at the end of the qualification tests. This order emphasises Rheinmetall’s expertise in the production of modern ammunition for rocket-propelled mortars.

There won’t be an update today/ the next days, sooooorry… I simply don’t like what I wrote and it needs a lot of work and editing! But to pass the time a little, I have a snippet of something that I wrote and that I actually liked, so here a little sneak peak on Chapter 42:

"I love how excited you are." Charles whispered against my lips and I smiled "So when are we leaving for our little adventure?"

"This Sunday everyone is coming for our little housewarming brunch… I have to be in Neuenburg on the 12th and our flight is on the 14th from Frankfurt." I said and he nodded.

"Will we be back in time for training camp with Andrea and JK?"

"Yep, maybe were even on the same flight back as JK. We have to visit him! He told me to come visit him for years! He probably has some secret spots for us!" I sent a text to him.

"So. New Zealand. You and me."

"You and me." I almost couldn’t contain my excitement "We can go stargazing! The night sky is so clear in New Zealand, and we can go kayaking in the Abel Tasm-…" he interrupted me again, kissing me.

"Shhh cara mia, later…" he pulled me up "Didn’t we say every room?"

"What do you mean?" I looked at him all confused when he slipped his hand underneath my shirt, pushing it up and it dawned on me "Not we… you said that…" I breathed out against his lips as he pushed me against the kitchen island "Charles…" he hoisted me up, sitting me down on the cold countertop "Not on here…"

"Yes on here…" a devilish grin on his lips.

Nach sorgfältigen “Feinabstimmungen“ an unserem Reisemobil, haben wir eine malerische Fahrt von 560 Kilometern hinter uns gebracht und befinden uns nun auf einen verschneiten Stellplatz in Neuenburg am Rhein, unweit der französischen Grenze nahe Mülhausen. Das beigefügte Foto fängt die herrschenden Wetterbedingungen perfekt ein. Hier in Neuenburg haben wir unser Wohnmobil für die bevorstehende Reise durch Frankreich vorbereitet, in dem wir uns der Pflicht beugen den Verkehrsteilnehmer über die blinden Flecken unseres Fahrzeugs aufzuklären – Sicherheit geht vor! Morgen setzen wir unsere Reise fort, mit dem Ziel, zügig die spanischen Gefilde zu erreichen. Wir freuen uns bereits auf die malerischen Landschaften Frankreichs sofern das Wetter dies ermöglicht.
